had a weird conversation over breakfast, it went like:
mom: "so you write fanfiction or publish your own writing online, right?"
me:"....yes?"
"No, which one?"
"fanfiction??"
"Oh, okay. And can you give the chapters... their own names? Separate from the title?" *combined with a lot of handwaving* (I have no idea where this is going)
".......yeeees??? But mine is only one chapter anyways-"
"that's alright, I just want to say that if you make another one you should name it 'juice of the tomatoes'."
huh???!?!?

Spoilers for The lost future of Pepperharrow by Natasha Pulley (early on though it may be) Six being worried about eventually having to return to the orphanage and Mori making up a return bon and telling her that Katsu fed it to the kois was so adorable help And then Thaniel thinking how he has the "manual" on how to talk to her; i love this family so much hhhh
but also...the two of them sleeping in a bed together, having a daughter and getting kisses now and then but still Thaniel is all "i wonder if he likes me" i can not
and after Thaniel just visited the doc and got told the london air isn't good for him I wonder if Mori "saw" him getting worse and worse and if that lead to him maybe getting involved to put in the option of going to japan maybe??? Which btw was also wonderful; Thaniel worried about telling him about the move and what it might mean for them all only for Mori to be calm and just "well of course we'll all go there!"
But nooo, i hope Mori wont have to much trauma with the house :( i mean, maybe he can make better memories there now? But when he mentioned how there's ghosts there i got scared about what it might feel like for him to return there hhhhh
Anyways, i just needed to share this somewhere since I don't really have anyone to talk to much and i couldn't continue reading till rambling it out lmao

Roman Numerals in Book Titles. Roman Numerals have been a staple in book titles for centuries, lending a sense of timelessness, historical significance, and elegance to the works.

𝐏𝐄𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐈𝐍𝐊 𝐀𝐒𝐊 𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐒 !
Tick-tock, tick- tock, tick-tock, the old clock was still going in the thick backness wrapped around the abondoned mansion.
"Mhmmmm, you know it is not especially venusto to sneak up on strangers." Senritsus voice was a gentle singsang that almost sounded teasing. She did not even looked over her shoulder to the stranger- not that she would see much in the blackness hanging like a thick cloth in the old mansion whichs darkness was only disturbed by the blue light of her phone-screen.Even in all the years the mansion had been abonded the clock in the library had never stopped ticking, so among the strangers breathing, among his heartbeat loud and clear, among the wind outside stroking around the houses wallks, among the rustling of Senritsus own cloth at every breath, there was a permanent tick-tock, tick- tock, tick-tock echoing loud like thunder through the house. "Especially in such spooky place as this. What would have happned if I did not heard you and would be startled by you standing there all quietly and patiently smiling?" the blue light of her phones-screen dances like a wisp over the backs of the books in the tall shelfs, dyed grey and colourless by layers of dust and the single blue light. Every booktitle she photgraphed was read aloud for her and while Senritsu could have read them herself, with her dyslexia she was not in the mood to stumble through reading a title she could have let the app read for her thrice as fast. Even with the stranger around Senritsu did not bothered to stop her research- after all, he did not attacked her ; when he had thought she had not noticed him he had waited patiently for her to leave; and now, discovered and called upon, she heard a certaine trill in his heartmelody, like the chirping of a bird happy to be allowed to sing.
Tick-tock, tick- tock, tick-tock, the old clock was still going even in th hours Senritsu had been in the old mansion roaming through the books and documents in search of the mansions former owner. "You sure would not have wanted for that to happen, mhmmmmm?" this time the woman did looke dover her shoulde,r tapping a melody agains her chin with her fingers that sounded as curious and attentive as that heartmelody of the stranger.
Tick-tock, tick- tock, tick-tock, the old clock was still going. [ @lightfaithed ]

Blog Tour: Top 5 Reasons to Read SOME SHALL BREAK by Ellie Marney! #tbrbeyondtours
Tumblr media
Welcome to Book-Keeping and my stop on the TBR and Beyond Tours blog + bookstagram tour for Some Shall Break by Ellie Marney, the sequel to 2020’s breakout hit None Shall Sleep! I absolutely loved the first book and this follow-up, and below you’ll find my top 5 reasons to read the series!
About the Book
Tumblr media
title: Some Shall Break (None Shall Sleep #2) author: Ellie Marney publisher: Little, Brown release date: 6 June 2023
This sequel to the New York Times bestselling None Shall Sleep is an equally electrifying, chilling thriller that brings us back into the lives of junior FBI consultants Travis Bell and Emma Lewis with a new case that may unravel everything they’ve been working for.
After a harrowingly close contact with juvenile sociopath Simon Gutmunsson, junior FBI consultants Emma Lewis and Travis Bell went their separate ways: Emma rejected her Quantico offer and Travis stayed to train within a new unit of the FBI Behavioral Science division. But the unit’s latest case is feeling eerily familiar and Kristin Gutmunsson—Simon Gutmunsson’s eccentric twin—reaches out to Travis to send a warning: Emma is in peril. When Travis and Kristin turn up evidence that points back to Daniel Huxton, the serial killer that Emma had escaped, things become more complicated. With a copycat on the loose, Emma returns to Quantico and is thrown back into her past traumas. Compelled to prevent more tragedy—even if it means putting herself in danger—Emma turns to Simon for help once again. But Simon is keeping secrets that could impact their entire investigation. Will the team be able to stop the Huxton copycat before time runs out for his next victims?

Top 5 Reasons to Read
I must admit Im kind of glad this isn’t a traditional review because I’d just be gushing incoherently about how freaking much I loved Some Shall Break (and its predecessor, None Shall Sleep). So instead of rambling, let me give you my top 5 reasons to read this incredible series!
1. The early 1980s setting had me nostalgic for my childhood! Granted, I was only 7 in 1982, but I loved all the little references to things I remember from that time - songs, fashion, cars, etc.
2. I loved getting a (fictional) peek inside the beginnings of the FBI’s now-famed Behavioral Science Unit, which quickly became the gold standard for serial killer profiling.
3. These books give us the most creepy and terrifying serial killer this side of Hannibal Lecter, and I am absolutely chuffed to see the grittiness of this thriller series in young adult lit!
4. Emma Lewis is a badass, incredibly complex character that you root for with every single page you turn. Her badassery lies not in brute strength or actual abilities to kick butt, but in her strength of character, her tenacity, her intelligence, her unwillingness to be pushed around, and her feminist sensibilities (back when more mainstream feminism was still fairly new). She has *been through some shit* and has come out the other side fierce and strong, while also still dealing with the effects of her captivity. I love the quote from Adrienne Rich that she cites as her favorite: “Her wounds came from the same source as her power.”
5. Finally, more on the feminism: again, we’re dealing with very early ‘80s, so mainstream feminism was in its nascent stage, but Marney exposes the sexism inherent in not just police culture but also the culture at large at the time -- and which unfortunately still exists today. At one point Kristen says, “People only listen when women expose their pain, I suppose.” Emma later remarks, “Every woman lives in a constant state of battle-readiness.” Later, when Emma shoos away a creep in a bar by referring to her FBI partner, Travis, as her boyfriend, she notes “the irony that she has to claim connection with one man to avoid another.” I doubt I’m alone in saying each of these is all too familiar even now, 40 years after the setting of this book.
I’m not sure I can adequately convey how darn much I love this series, but I hope this list is a start! If you are *at all* a mystery/thriller lover, PICK THESE UP! Even if you don’t normally read YA, I am confident you’ll love these. And DM me with thoughts once you’re done!
RATING: 5 stars!
**Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from the publisher for purposes of this blog tour. I also bought myself the audiobook to alternate between audio and physical.

Max Brewman is in a deep crisis. The loss of his beloved mother, the breakdown of his marriage and bankruptcy have shattered his world and his hopes. To make matters worse, his long-time friend turns out to be an insidious enemy, and his own children are shrouded in a mysterious silence. In a desperate attempt to get his life back on track, Max makes the brave decision to go on a journey. But what is meant to be a quest for adventure and a new beginning takes a completely unexpected turn. His fate changes dramatically when he survives a plane crash in the unexplored Bolivian rainforest. There, far from civilisation, his path crosses with that of a little girl who, like him, survived the accident. These unlikely companions become inseparable. Together they face the dangerous challenges of the impenetrable jungle. Once on the brink of collapse, Max now faces a test of survival in a merciless environment. The search for food and water becomes a daily struggle, his fragile belief in himself a constant companion. As he struggles to survive, Max also carries the responsibility of the little girl on his shoulders. A remarkable bond develops between the dwindling supplies and the threatening wilderness. In these dark hours of struggle and loneliness, Max discovers an unexpected strength within himself and a deep bond with his companion. In the vastness of the unknown rainforest, where the laws of nature set the pace, Max finds a new meaning to his life. Every step through the thicket becomes a journey of self-fulfilment, every obstacle a springboard for his transformation. The unexpected alliance between Max and the girl becomes a reflection of his own struggle - the search for a new beginning and the rebirth of hope that comes in life's darkest hours.

Chasriel Week Day 4
Day 4: first meeting *Deltarune Au* Trying to find the book you were specifically looking for was kinda hard when the shelved were at least twenty feet each and filled with easily hundreds of books. And did I mention that the library had at least seven floors with easily fifty bookshelves on each floor? Yeah it wasn’t wasy finding anything in there, unless you were the librarian. That lady seemed to know the place like her own glasses, unfortunately she was rather vague as well. Should be in the fiction section she said. You should find it on one of the middle shelves she said. Well she didn’t specify and now he was walking around looking at random book covers and reading their names like some child on a wild goose chase. Who knows how long this would take? For the life of him this would take all eternity at this point. He sighed and just kept scanning the booktitles looking for any that might’ve been good to read, because at this point he severly doubted he would find the specific one he wanted, so it wasn’t a bad idea to look for some others he might like just in case. Was a good idea. Right? Eventually he stopped and stared at one green covered book. Funny, it’s cover didn’t say anything. The thin thing was wedged between two much larger books and didn’t look easy to get out-…..And wouldn’t you know it. It was actually correct. When he reached out a hand and tugged, it didn’t budge. It felt like a rock stuck inside concrete. So what else to do but to pull harder. Made sense right? But when he pulled harder nothing happened. Ok. Time for extreme measures. Both of his hands came to grab the book's skinny frame and he pulled harder, wings fluttering in frustration. He didn't have to wait long. A moment later it FINALLY came loose-....With about twenty or so book from it's left side. He yelped and watched in horror as they all fell to the floor with loud thumps. A few monsters around him paused what they were doing and looked over at him. To which he froze and gave a nervous chuckle at the situation....Before quickly bending down and picking up the books and placing them back onto the shelf one by one. Not sure in the correct order but hopefully no one would notice. Completely forgetting the small book and placing it back with the others. It didn't matter anyways. He was a little too busywith the cleaning up of his mess to care at the moment. Leave it to him to do something this embarrassing He was just reaching the last book when another grip made him freeze. ...There was another hand on the book, right next to his. He looked up and froze at the sight of red eyes and smile looking right at him.
"Here. Allow me to help you out there."
"Uh..."
The smiling figure without another word, stood, turned to the shelf next to them and gently placed the book back with the rest. Before smiling back down to the still crouched monster. ...And raised a brow. "Are you comfortable down there?" He immediately stod up with a small squeak and the other chuckled good naturdly. "Well, now I can see you better. Looks like you had quite the mess to clean up there."
"Um..Y-Yeah. T-T-Thank you," he managed to squeak out. Making the other guy laugh again. This guy was...tall to say the least. Or at least taller than his small self. And his features were, pardon the term, heavenly. And he nearly swallowed his tongue when he chuckled again at his stunned silence. "Well, I can tell you don't need my help anymore. I'll leave you to your own-"
"Chara!" His squeaky voice forced out making the taller monster pause. He cleared his throat quickly. "U-Um. I-Im Dominic."
He blinked a couple times before reaching out his hand to shake Chara's. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Chara. You may call me Asriel." Chara’s face flushed a slight bright green and smiled nervously. “Y-You too!” Asriel smiled and finally let go of his hand. “I hate to be rude and cut our meet up short, but Im afraid I have business elsewhere to take care of. Please, take care of the shelves.” “O-Ok.” He gave another smile before turning and walking the opposite direction from Chara, as the human could only stare and suck in a deep breath he didn’t know he was holding.
