Dreamling coded /It Happened One Night/ -- https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0025316/plotsummary/?ref_=tt_ov_pl
Hob is the louche reporter; Dream the runaway heir(ess); Alex is ill-suited/ill-advised husband. Shenanigans and gross motels, one bed, and falling in love along the way.
Omg I love this movie!! Had to remind myself of some of the plot intricacies but!!! YES!!!!
Dream is the prissy princess heir to his family name, and he's on the run to meet his fiance who his family hate - he's SOMEHOW ended up being blackmailed by AND sharing a motel room with Hob Gadling, a reporter with no moral compass and a terrible sense of humour. HE has demanded the rights to Dream’s story in exchange for not shipping Dream right back to his family.
They had to pretend to be married in order to get the room! But don't worry, Hob has divided it in half with a blanket hung over a rope. But Dream wants to leave - he doesn't want to go to sleep and start again in the morning. Hob insists it's too late for him to be travelling now. In any case, Hob is going to bed. He'll make sure that Dream gets to Alex but now it's time to sleep.
Well, Dream isn't moving! And that's fine with Hob. He'll just have to get undressed in front of Dream. First his jacket, then his shoes, suspenders, shirt....... Dream is a chaste little virgin and at this point, he gives up and rushes to his side of the room.
But suddenly he's not thinking about Alex any more. He's thinking about Hob on the other side of the blanket, his strong arms and hairy chest.
And all Hob can think about is how a smart, gorgeous, delicious man like Dream deserves a man who will actually fight for him instead of waiting for him to do the fighting...
...a few weeks and MANY shenanigans later, Hob and Dream spend their first night as a real married couple in that very same room. Only this time, there's no blanket. And Dream isn't a chaste lil virgin any more!

"Banana fish" and "The ones who walk away from Omelas"
(Note: English is not my first language !! small spoilers of banana fish and the ones who walk away from omelas)
It happened that after I finished watching Banana Fish, I read "The ones who walk away from Omelas" and I just couldn't stop thinking. Maybe it was because after I finish a series I like to relation it to everything, but in this case I feel it's more than that.
Starting with, what is banana fish? Here is the small description from imdb: "The story captures the war between a mafia boss named Dino and a young gang leader (Ash Lynx) searching for redemption." I think people who are interested in banana fish will read this, so I don't think I need to give a big description about it.
Continuing with: what is "The ones who walk away from Omelas"? It's a philosophical short story created by Ursula K. Le Guin. About a perfect fairy tale like town, that has a horrendous secret.
When I read "the ones who walk away from omelas" I realized that their world works so perfectly that it seemed fake. There should be something wrong. And I was right. There is a secret in their city. In the most dark and profound place of the town lives a kid, who has never been happy, never has seen light, never been loved or treated with decency. And you may ask, why? Well, that child pain is everybody happiness. You either live knowing the truth or leave the city, because that kid's suffer is what keeps the balance in Omelas. (The whole plot of the story is a paradigm of our society, but I won't develop in that, this is all about banana fish).
That made think of Ash. He is the balance of the world where he lives in. Even if he has been fighting for his freedom ever since he escaped Dino, he still is part of the game. The truth is that Ash is never free and can never leave. Just like the trapped kid in Omelas. Without him in New York, how can be peaceful? And we see it's like that, as soon he leaves New York everything falls. Chaos start everywhere, nobody is in peace and nobody is free from that chaos. The only way to bring peace again is Ash staying there, never being free and never changing his fate.
The people who leave Omelas do it because they won't stand the truth, and since they can't do anything to change it, they just leave. In banana fish, we see what would happen if you try to help the suffering kid. Every person who tries to help Ash ends up dead, in pain, losing somebody important, or just leaving. I know everybody is thinking about Eiji, but I wanna tell all of you that leaving isn't a bad thing, because Ash always have belonged to New York and there is nothing he or anyone can do to change that. A good comparison would be even if Ash was never free in life, his fight and death meant the freedom for every possible next suffering kid. In Omelas that would never happen.
SO......... that's all :]

Schindler's List Blog Essay by Ronnie Bitzer
Schindler's List was the movie I watched that was created in 1993. The impact I had from the movie was that it shocked me how the Germans were oppressing the Jewish community and how the Jewish people were treated like criminals and how the Germans view the Jews differently. The movie showed me how pervasive oppression is and how the Jews had to find different ways to deal with the upcoming war, the Germans and the beginning of the Holocaust. The movie was a critical success because we are immersed into the immediacy of the Nazi era and impinged by the horrors of the Holocaust and the true meaning of genocide. The makers represent the film by making the background color in black &white setting back time to reach World War 2 era and black & white signifies highlighting key scenes and signal shifts in time. Black & white also signifies the year of the 1930's and 1940's.Certain elements that the producers put on the film are they had Steven Spielberg as director. They made the film like a story and at the end credits they showed the remaining Jews that are alive who were saved by Schindler and ensured the audience that the movie happened in real life.Limiting factors shown on Schindler's list was it was Rated R because it showed graphic scenes of violence, nudity sexual content, swear words, and the use of alcohol. The critical estimation of the movie hasn't changed people still say in the comments its a masterpiece of art, cinematography and has a great representation of the Holocaust. The movie is in between being conventional and unconventional since the premise of the movie talks about the Holocaust and might spring some backlash since the movie is politically and socially challenged at the viewers and may draw attention to discrimination against Jews. The main difference between the historical info I found and the subjective memories of the film I watched now vs from watching in middle school was the historical info I found was Schindler died before the producers finished making the movie and in the movie it shows Schindler's grave. After Schindler died the producers released the film. What I remember from watching Schindler’s list was I remember the Girl in the Red Coat, the Jews smearing blood on their faces to make them appear more fine-toned and Schindler spraying the Jews with water, the Jewish kid hiding in the toilet from the Germans. The movie felt different to me since the last time I watched it in middle school because now I remembered how the movie ended.Movies are changing with the help of new innovations and new ways directors can be creative with their film making and new ways books are going into films and how directors can change the difference between the plot of the movie and the plot of the book. I've changed by learning to be more responsible and Schindler's List has taught me ways of not to oppress people because oppression can lead to depression, anxiety and death. Oppression can alter what people value you most in life.
The poster tells you about the film because the smaller hands represent the Jews while the bigger hand represents Oskar Schindler.

Summary of Schindler's List from a review.
Schindler's List was a commercial success it made over $320 million at the box office making more money from what it originally cost to make the film. Schindler's list was also a critical success and a popular one; made on a $22 million budget, it grossed $321.2 million worldwide.Schindler's List was made after the ending of World War 2, the film has been considered a national landmark in the History of the Holocaust storytelling because it inspired survivors to tell more stories and the world to listen. Time's film critic Richard Corliss said"The Holocaust especially had been left mostly to documentarians and Europeans , but then he added that was changing". David Crowe author of Oskar Schindler:The untold account of his life,Wartime Activities, and the true story behind the list and a past member of the education committee of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C said"Once the museum open and Spielbergs film came out the same year, there was an explosion in this country in terms of interest in Holocaust".
Finder says that when the movie was released was when she stopped feeling like she was alone in her willingness to talk about her experience, which she had been doing since 1979 as part of a group called Facing History Ourselves. "After the movie came out, more people wanted to learn," she says. "It seemed like the wall of silence fell down."

A Hard Day's Night (1964)
The Beatles in their feature film debut, one of the greatest rock-and-roll comedy adventures ever. The film has a fully restored negative and digitally restored soundtrack.
The film takes on the just-left-of-reality style of mock-documentary, following "a day in the life" of John, Paul, George, and Ringo - - as fame takes them by storm.
The cult classic which captures John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr in their electrifying element is a wildly irreverent journey through this pastiche of a day in the life of The Beatles during 1964.
The band must use all their guile and wit to avoid the pursuing fans and press to reach their scheduled television performance, in spite of Paul's troublemaking grandfather and Ringo's arrest.
Release date: August 11, 1964 (USA)
Director:Richard Lester
Distributed by: United Artists, Universal Pictures, Miramax
Box office: $11 million
Budget: £ 189,000; (~US $529,000)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058182/plotsummary/
https://thesouloftheplot.wordpress.com/2014/08/29/a-hard-days-night/
While Paul McCartney is singing "And I Love Her" in "A Hard Day's Night" (1964), the camera panning around him picks up an arc light that flashes straight into the lens. United Artists executives, reviewing the dailies and certain the shot had to be a mistake, asked producer Walter Shenson if he was aware of it; Shenson replied it had taken them all morning to get it like that.
The movie's working title was "The Beatles," and then "Beatlemania," until Ringo Starr, who was exhausted after a long day, coined the phrase "a hard day's night" that was accepted by the studio.
Once Starr's line was confirmed as the movie's title, it was put to music by John Lennon and McCartney with participation of George Harrison and Starr. The Beatles collectively composed the song that same night, playing it the next morning to Shenson in their dressing room.
Pattie Boyd appears in several scenes in the first act, all on the train.
1) She is one of the two "schoolgirls on the train" they first encounter
2) McCartney chats her up with her friend (below).
3) She sits next to Paul and smiles and sings on "I Should Have Known Better." She and George Harrison, who met during filming, married within eighteen months.
Before the movie was released in America, a United Artists executive asked director Richard Lester to dub the voices of the group with mid-Atlantic accents. McCartney angrily replied, "Look, if we can understand a f**king cowboy talking Texan, they can understand us talking Liverpool."(IMDb)

Ganó el Premio, “Award for Best Film Not in the English Language” en la “55th British Academy Film Awards” y el Premio, “Prize of the Critic's Week” en la “2000 Cannes Film Festival.”
Gracias

The Help
The Help (2011) is a movie directed by Tate Taylor. The movie is based in the 1960’s in the American South during the Civil Rights Movement. Skeeter, an aspiring author, returns to her hometown of Jackson, MS. She begins to author a novel based on the point of view of “the help” – a term used for African American women hired as housekeepers by white families during the time. Secretly Skeeter collaborates with African American housekeepers, Aibileen and Minny, to author stories about their experiences.
While laws were changing, during the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s, there were still racial aggressions towards Black people, especially in the American South. We see this in an earlier scene in the movie when Hilly, a white woman, refuses to use the bathroom at her friend, Mrs. Leefolt’s, home because her African American housekeeper, Aibileen, uses the guest bathroom as well. Hilly installed a separate bathroom outside of her own home for her housekeeper Minnie to use and encourages Mrs. Leefolt to do the same, claiming that African Americans carry different diseases than white people. She even goes as far as to mark the toilet paper in her own bathrooms with pencil to see if her housekeeper, Minny, is using their indoor restrooms and tries to force her to go to the outside restroom during a severe storm. This ties into Gregory Jay’s article “Who Invented White People?” Jay states, “… Americans faced the fact that changing the laws did not change the feelings and beliefs of individuals, black or white. Beyond the abstract words of law and legislation, real people continued to carry with them the history of racism, whether as victims of its horrors or as beneficiaries of its privileges.”
Throughout the movie we can also see the socioeconomic disparities when it comes to race. The fact that African American housekeepers mostly lived in the same lower-class neighborhood in Jackson, all catching the bus in the morning to take them to the upper-class, white neighborhoods where they worked. There is also a point where we see Minny preparing her eldest daughter for her first day of work as a housekeeper. Her daughter was pulled out of school to support the family financially.
Although The Help focuses on race, there is quite a few instances of gender bias as well. We can see this clearly with Skeeter. When she comes home and applies to be a columnist at The Jackson Journal, she is given the Miss Myrna column to run – a column focused on housekeeping tips and tricks which is very fitting for what was considered to be a woman’s role during the time. In addition, Skeeter hasn’t had much experience in dating unlike her social peers who are already married with children. Throughout the movie there are subtle reminders that due to Skeeter’s choice to have a career, how she dresses/styles her hair, and her opinions make her an unlikely prospect for marriage. Skeeter seemingly has similarities with Peggy McIntosh, the author of “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack” in which McIntosh references the understanding of white privilege by comparing it to her experience amongst men who do not realize their advantages. It seems as if Skeeter’s rejection of conformity to a 1960s homemaker and the fact that she was extremely close to her own family’s housekeeper, Constantine, allows her to see the unjust treatment of Black women of the time. Like McIntosh references in her article, it’s simply not enough to disapprove of the powers that keep systemic racism in place, people must work to dismantle them. Skeeter embodies the change she wishes to see by giving a voice to those whose voices have been suppressed by authoring the book The Help.

Remember the Titans Cultural Diversity
Remember the Titans is a classic movie on the fight for integration and collaboration between white and black. Remember the Titans is one of my personal favorite movies. It follows the desegregation of schools, specifically T.C. Williams High School and their head coach Herman Boone at the center of attention. Herman Boone becomes the head coach of the school’s football team which has been coach by a world class white coach for years. From then on it talks of the struggle to integrate and collaborate between coaches, players, people in the school, and the community around the school. This movie speaks on many different topics in which we have covered during class including, segregation, socioeconomic class, gender roles, and stereotyping. In this movie Boone is told to take a job of flipping burgers because they have coaching football covered and that is for white men. This movie also has a little girl who is the daughter of Bill Yoast who loves football. She defies the gender norms of girls liking dolls and dresses and knows a surprising amount about football. Later in the movie you can see her and coach Boone talking about football strategy. The main story line covers the football team which has heavy controversy. White boys and Blacks boys have to work together to make a goo team. They go to camp and learn about each other’s culture and share what they have in common. After a while they see that skin color is just that skin color and their teammates have lots in common with them. You can see a lot of the intertwining culture in this movie. For example, Louie Lastik and Rev share a common taste in music but the music they share is commonly seen as “black” music. Louie Lastic breaks a lot of the barriers that are up between the two races clashing.
When they come back from camp the team sees that the community has not taken well to the integration and even though they have all gotten along and set aside minor differences the community has gone back to “normal.” This movie shows the struggle that a community must go through and how much a truly integrated society can achieve. Though real life has worked on integration and acceptance we still must strive to block out any racism.
