Bloodright AU: So does Himiko start trying to seduce Ochako as "Midoriya" after the failed recruitment attempt while simultaneously Ochako is investigating "Midoriya" for his suspicious similarity to Shigaraki Himiko that weird villain who's obsessed with her for no apparent reason?
As part of how she thinks of her Quirk as 'becoming someone else,' she's effectively method acting as her Midoriya persona to varying extents. This makes it harder to recognize one as the other, but also means that sometimes Himiko has to remind herself that she's not really a Hero.
Her crush makes this complicated because she's denying that she has one, making it basically the only thing either persona has in common. If she's Totally Not Crushing on Uraraka, then there's no reason to act differently based on who she currently is.
This is what happens when you're groomed to be emotionally unstable.

idk man.
the emphasis on cages. lack of autonomy and consent being eroded into ash. abusive relationships you keep coming back to despite knowing they will harm you because it's been so normalized. the reality of the racial anxieties that created the zombie genre in the first place. white supremacist fixations on cannibalism, literal and metaphorical as the evil of colonization takes and eats its own fellow man to sustain power. the fact that delilah's only desire is to gain power no matter what and gets violent when she is denied it. the fact that matilda looked like this and delilah looks like this

and how laudna is encouraged covertly if not unconsciously to make herself look more like her, to become more like her and then she will be worthy of being on her level. to kill and harm anyone that gets in her way because she is helping them by doing do. and i'm like hm. hey. that sounds familiar, don't you think? isn't that something we should talk about?
but no. all anybody say is that well. haven't you considered delilah's feelings in all this? after all, her husband is dead!

Just finished reading (listening to) The Bloodright Trilogy by Emily @skrutskie and it was SO FUN and I’m miffed!
Yes!
Absolutely miffed!
That there isn’t more chatter about it here.
It’s one of those sci-fi/fantasy universes where queerness is a totally normal accepted thing.
The best-written trans man I’ve ever read. The fact that he’s trans doesn’t even come up because there are no outright sexy scenes (NUMEROUS innuendos and implied sexyness? Oh. Hell yah). I’m only sure he was from little snippets and my own experience being one.
It’s got roommates to lovers (omg they were ROOMMATES)
Super exciting action scenes.
Secret, covert plans within plans inside a plan sandwich.
Some really cute “we know we both like eachother but we shouldn’t be together, and now we have to pretend to be together but we aren’t, and now we have to pretend we’re NOT together but we are” shit without too much angst.
I love how the author wrote the characters. Everyone’s motives and thoughts and actions make complete sense given a character’s personality and history, and it’s an incredibly colorful cast.
There are some really excellent character arcs.
Really good fun sci-fi action adventure shit without getting too into hard sci-fi territory.
Politicking and plotting and strategizing.
A bit of graphic violence. Not gonna lie. Just a smidge.
Uhhhgggg someone please read these and come yell with me. The audio books were really good too. Well, the first was hands down one of the best audio books I’ve ever heard. The second was not as good. The third was good and had 4 different narrators. You can listen to them for free on Libby if you have a library card.

Slight spoilers for both The Bloodright Trilogy and Red Rising series.
The Bloodright Trilogy is Red Rising light. All the space politics and battles and manipulation. Brilliant tacticians born to lead and found family unbreakable bonds. Crazy amazing side characters.
The difference for the Bloodright trilogy is a scrumptious friends to mutual pining to lovers to enemies to lovers to enemies(??) to lovers. And no one actually dies absolutely BRUTALLY on page.
I love both of them so much.

12 & 18 for fandom of your choice!
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
Oh man let's see. Off the top of my head-- Dawn Summers, because I think a) giving Buffy more family and b) having a teenager who got to act more like a teenager was an important contrast to the scoobies who were 40 years old at the age of 17
Bela Talbot, as I've discussed at length before but will always do so again because Crowley didn't have anything she didn't have first
Daisy Johnson, who isn't as unpopular as she used to be but I loved her from day one because the audience came in high off avengers and there's this girl who's like "doesn't this seem kind of suss" and then threw a gun in a man's face and jumped off a balcony into a swimming pool and I fell in love instantly. (Correction: I actually loved her from "you can't trace us, you can't find us... oh hi guys, what's up?")
18. it's absolutely criminal that the fandom has been sleeping on...
Eile from the Witcher prequel. Whatever the hell Saito has going on. The entire Bloodright trilogy.

ChimerOFA x Bloodright: Toga pretended really hard that her getting closer with this super fluffy girl clearly having trouble with her Quirk based instincts was just for the mission. Then she saw that said girl had shark teeth and her heart skipped a few beats. Also, do you think shark instincts would have any reaction to the smell of blood ?
Yeah that sounds about right

BONDS OF BRASS is on sale! Grab the ebook of the first book in the Bloodright Trilogy for just $2.99 from your preferred retailer before it's too late!
A young pilot risks everything to save his best friend—the man he trusts most and might even love—only to learn that his friend is secretly the heir to a brutal galactic empire.
Ettian’s life was shattered when the merciless Umber Empire invaded his world. He’s spent seven years putting himself back together under its rule, joining an Umber military academy and becoming the best pilot in his class. Even better, he’s met Gal—his exasperating and infuriatingly enticing roommate who’s made the academy feel like a new home.
But when dozens of classmates spring an assassination plot on Gal, a devastating secret comes to light: Gal is the heir to the Umber Empire. Ettian barely manages to save his best friend and flee the compromised academy unscathed, rattled that Gal stands to inherit the empire that broke him, and that there are still people willing to fight back against Umber rule.
As they piece together a way to deliver Gal safely to his throne, Ettian finds himself torn in half by an impossible choice. Does he save the man who’s won his heart and trust that Gal’s goodness could transform the empire? Or does he throw his lot in with the brewing rebellion and fight to take back what’s rightfully theirs?
