Days come and go.  Thórgestr’s body’s need for stillness to stitch his torn flesh back together splinters under the sharpening edges of his mind.  Soon he is able to stay awake longer than he had before—and that is when time stretches into tortuous slowness.

14) man. i actually barely read this year. by default it kind of has to be cambridge in the 17th century by jb mullinger.

I watched "Human Nature"/"Family of Blood" again and noticed something I had not before. With the time period that it is (1913) and his job being what it is (history professor), John Smith mostly wears tweed suits.... and bowties. In fact, the night he dies, he has exactly such an outfit on:

It includes a polka-dot bowtie.

At this time, it occurred to me that someone else wears a lot of tweed, and bowties, and generally dresses like a turn-of-the-century British professor: the Eleventh Doctor.

Did this adventure influence the next regeneration's sartorial tastes? Perhaps. After all, the Doctor did tell Nurse Redfern that John Smith is still in there, somewhere... the manifestation of an adventure the Doctor might wish he could have, and the one he never can.

Perhaps the Doctor who wasn't ready to leave found a small way to stay. Or, perhaps, this new Doctor hoped he might find some way to be a little more human.

The reduction in machine quilting makes the section on the left a little fluffier (and one of the reasons why I looooove handquilting).

That night Vi tossed and turned, checking her phone over and over for the text that never came. 

Why hadn’t Caitlyn texted? 

They had a bond beyond the accidental mating. A connection. It had been undeniable even in the corner of the Last Drop. So how was Caitlyn just ignoring it like this? 

Vi flopped back onto her pillow and groaned. She needed to know if Caitlyn had made it back home safe. If she had somewhere to nest. If she needed more touch, more sex—Vi could certainly have used some more of that herself before things got cut off. But like an idiot, she hadn’t gotten Caitlyn’s number, because she hadn’t wanted to invade her privacy, so she had no way of checking in on her omega.

Because like it or not, Caitlyn was her omega now. Hers. Hers to protect, to care for. 

But how was she supposed to do that without a fuckin’ phone number?

“Ugh.” She pressed the heels of her hands into her eyes and willed herself to fall asleep.

Current obsession: Dooku, as always, as well as my dear collection of Prequels era characters, of course. I have so many things cooking but I am so disgustingly busy. I am also experiencing a MAJOR Team Fortress relapse! It's unreal how soft I am for these disgusting old-ish men once again, they make me sick, just rewatched Expiration Date and almost perished bc of how much I love them

Actually such a banger, I have been looping this for the past three days I am obsessed.

Currently watching: Hazbin Hotel, kind offf?????? I have stopped properly consuming media, and started to just skip through episodes ten times until i have the whole plot together. I know. Horrid. I love the show tho and i am going to rewatch it with all my friends and draw fanart and I am actually writing a fanfic about it as we speak hihi

Currently reading: Coraline by @neil-gaiman, holy shit I can tag the man that's crazy, right? I loved the movie since i watched it as a lil diaper baby, and while i struggle with print media, i've been MEANING to read it. It's definitly on my nightstand. I've been rereading the first twenty pages a lot. Again, I struggles consuming media the traditional way grr

I know it's fun to think of the Time Lords collectively rolling their eyes when The Master graduated and chose his name, and there likely were a fair few that did, but consider. Consider that, perhaps, a good many actually did think "The Master" was a perfectly commendable choice. A perfectly respectable name.

Mastering the laws of space and time is what becoming a Time Lord is all about. Why shouldn’t you say that you are a Master of these things? Surely it is no more pretentious than "Time Lord."

From the perspective of his peers, The Master may have been a credible name. A statement of celebration--the resolution to study and master an ever-wider array of subjects. Declaration of Mastery over oneself. What could be greater than that? What is more indicative of what a Time Lord should be?

And then, centuries later, those same instructors and peers consider The Master a much greater tragedy to the Time Lords than The Doctor ever could be.

Here are this week's sewing projects:

For @ravenbara an 18 inch quilt top of a crow. The background is that light batik on the right, and the crow will be make with the green and brown prints on the left.

I made a mini quilt a couple years ago with this pattern, albeit significantly smaller. It was a tarot card interpretation and has gems hand-sewn to it.

For @mutantenfisch I've chosen three fabrics for the coasters. The star of the show is the floral, a blue blender-type print to make the blue flowers pop, and a brown wood print to balance them out. I'm not sharing the design yet. That's something I would rather reveal in stages, like most of the coasters I make.

My sewing room lighting is making the colors a little brighter than they are, but the second and third of this bunch are the most accurate.

I absolutely love that floral, and prints that look like things are a fun challenge for me. Wood prints are among my favorite to play with. When I make my *bookcase quilt, I'll be using a wood print to make it look like a bookcase.

I will likely have these done by the end of next week. My time is being split between sewing and handquilting. It's likely the projects here will be done next Monday or Tuesday. Then I'll start on the mug rug commission for @bloodofthepen. That'll wrap up all the small commissions unless I receive more before June 1st.

*I don't have a printer, and using the print shop is a lot of stress because the place is itty bitty and they don't have a printer set up to count the pages. On Fridays, it's $0.05/black & white page, but I have...so many things I wanna print. The library is $0.10/black & white page, but it'll be a lotta pages. One thing that's especially irritating about both is the paper quality. They use stuff that's way too high quality. The stuff I prefer is maybe two steps higher than newsprint. It needs to be 1) easy to cut and fold, and 2) easy to sew and tear. High quality stuff is more difficult to tear, tugging on the seams even when I set the stitch length to 1.4mm. Any smaller will result in other problems I don't wanna deal with again.

If anyone here wants to make me scream and dance with delight, I have a printer on my wishlist here. It comes highly recommended by a couple other quilters I know, and I'll be able to do soooooo much foundation paper piecing.
