Hey guys! Recently I’ve gotten a few asks wondering about canonical planets with little or no background, ones that could be used for anything, or planets with a very specific placement and history. I usually suggest that it might be best to create a new one, but I know firsthand how easy it is to get stuck on even the most basic aspects of worldbuilding. Hence, this!

This is a random generator that will create for you the basis of an original planet: a name, a region of space, prominent surface features, possible imports and exports, rotation period, gravitational pull, and atmosphere type. You can pick out the information you want, mix it up as needed and go from there. As always, any suggestions are welcome. I hope you guys get some use out of this!

(P.S. All of the names created by the generator are completely random, and occasionally it will spit out a real word or the name of a canonical planet. Check to make sure the name isn’t already taken!)

Truly one of the most beautiful scenes of black sails is when Jack is rebandaging Anne’s hand below desks in 4.07. Toby Schmitz plays Jack so well to hit all of his light hearted comic relief moments, but also man he can act the heck out of those serious scenes. The absolute tenderness and love radiating off of him as he wraps her hand up. He loves her so deeply, but you can also feel that he’s not pressuring her for more love than she can give him. He’s not actively encouraging her to get back with Max, but is cautioning her against making a violent end to their relationship, to keep the door open because he knows that’s what she’ll want later. Even in this moment when he wants to be so close to her, he still respects there are things that she gets from Max that he can’t give her. I don’t think I fully grasped queerplatonic relationships until this show. Yes they’re soulmates, yes he’s in love with her, yes they’re two halves of the same whole, no they aren’t romantic. Crazy to have your side characters so well fleshed out like that. Who is doing it like black sails my god.
