hi! how do you make illustrations in blender? btw i really love your art!!!

i use greasepencil! Best way to start is to create a new file thats set up for 2d animation

Was in the random mood to doodle Mysticons. Been thinking about how to draw a bit more comfortably in Blender Greasepencil, so here is my attempt at that haha 😂 the program crashed while I was drawing the grid, so go figure! I will try to use the in-build view-grids next time haha.

Destiny 2: Cookie Run

I've always thought the Dawning event in Destiny 2 was oddly reminiscent of Cookie Run: Ovenbreak. Because you know.... cookies to deliver vs cookies running over.... so I had this fun combo idea!

I'm all arted out for this year so this is a bit simpler looking than my other stuff! But I hope you all still like it! Hope your holidays have been nice so far and best of the best for the next ones!

Regarding the software that will be used, I will try more possibilities with Blender, actually I only know some basic ones and I don't do them very well. I would love to know how the complete process of making a scene in a blender works. So I found a tutorial. I thought I would watch some of it. It has the process from start to finish for this artist. I think it will help me a lot with this assignment. I've started exploring how to scan models. I think that's a good start. And it should be easier since my scene doesn't need to be this big.

In the beginning, I still chose to use Photoshop to draw the drafts, about some terrain patterns, building designs, object placement and the shape of the ship. Although Blender also has 2D drawing, it's still not casual enough for colouring, but maybe for the spaceship, I'll go for blender2D drawing because it's easier to convert to a model.

If you’re working with me, now is a good time to download and install blender.

I watched a lot of tutorials to start up, and I think this one is great; it’s a 7-min video that shows what can be done in Blender and the workflow one might use to do it. Keep in mind this is not for technical details (there’s no click here, use this shortcut, etc), this is for orienting what type of effect you can get out of Blender, what your timeline might look like, how to move from idea in your head to creating an animated shot.

So ideas were jogging in my head at this point... I was starting to think about what colors I wanted to use, how complex I wanted to be about character design, how long i wanted the animatic to be... essentially it seems like each frame has at least 4 passes: rough sketch, rough line, final lineart, and color, so simpler is better!

(for reference, i do two or three passes - rough sketch, then color - when i paint)

So a muted color palette (I’m thinking grayscale plus yellow for highlights and maybe a shadow color where i need to emphasize something), three characters, and like maximum five minutes of animatic are what I’m thinking at this point.

This was the other intro to blender 2d tutorial that was good; it got me clicking around the interface and learning where important buttons are, some basic shortcuts, and workspace window modes (e.g. edit vs draw mode), all through a little bee animation demo. It’s thirty minutes long. Please ignore the thumbnail it has nothing to do with what is discussed in the video Turn up the volume.

Note: my first awwwww :( after watching it was the ‘one color per material’ thing. I really envisioned... yk painting a character and animating the painted character. This is NOT what Blender offers, it seems like it has something to do with the vector nature of the Grease Pencil tool. I will have to see if it’s a MASSIVE sticking point (if switching softwares is necessary) but it just reads as like. A problem... coming from the bitmap/painting world.

Of course there are more beginner tutorials out there; please link any that might help someone go from REAL beginner (never used blender) to decent animatic in a short amount of time.
