The companions having to sit Vesz down, knowing that they need to explain to the baby that “jaluk” isn’t a term of endearment, being named ‘Vesz’ (Flesh/Meat) is cruel, that being kept in a temple and not being allowed to leave for his entire alleged childhood isn’t a healthy dynamic, and that mother doesn’t always know best.

But how the fuck are they going to explain that to him…? Especially when he’s sat there, looking concerned and expectant like 🥺🥺🥺🥺

They managed to sit Nere down and explain why the absolute was bad and Nere took it well, but trying to explain mommy issues to Vesz is a whole other kettle of fish. And that conversation would probably end swiftly with

“No, no, it’s alright. You love your mommy, we understand.”

I think Astarion would possibly be cruel enough to break it to him… if the other party members weren’t holding him at knifepoint. Or not, depending on how far they get with talking to one another. Astarion’s too unpredictable to be a candidate for breaking The News ™️ .

And Minthara would also be cruel enough, but the difference there is that she knows better.

I think the best person to tell him would be Shadowheart. She’d handle it best. She’d relate to him and be able to calm him down, and they could both bond over it. She’d also be able to comfort him, and let him know that the other companions are in his corner - particularly herself, Wyll and Gale.

I’d also say Minthara would be able to tell him just as well, but I think she’d be way more direct than Shadowheart and it would be too much of a nasty shock to his system. Plus I’m not sure she’d be able to handle Vesz’s meltdown afterwards.

I would say that Gale would be the next best option (due to his relationship with Mystra), but I think Gale would get too frightened of the prospect of making Vesz angry, Vesz would pick up on Gale’s fear and that would make him even more agitated, and it would be a complete shambles.

Halsin would probably infantilise Vesz too much and go heavy on the ‘father figure’, which would panic him (because guess what! He’s never had one of those!).

Karlach would probably crack a joke at a bad time to dispel any awkwardness which would only upset him even more.

Wyll doesn’t even want to approach the subject because he thinks it’s too cruel.

Imagine a scene from Bhaal’s perspective, sometime towards the end of Act II. Where Bhaal knows Scleritas has located the Dark Urge, they’re together, and they’re traveling towards Baldur’s Gate.

And Bhaal is giddy/triumphant because his favored spawn is making his way back to him, and will soon rejoin the plot to massacre Faerun via the Absolute. He just can’t help but summon Myrkul and Bane, because he wants to gloat.

“BEHOLD MY GLORIOUS SON, WHOSE VEINS COURSE WITH MY UNHOLY BLOOD!” he cries gleefully. “LET US SEE WHAT HORRORS HE HAS WROUGHT UPON FAERUN AS HE MAKES HIS WAY TO MY TEMPLE, AND RECLAIMS HIS RIGHTFUL TITLE AS SLAYER!”

Then he conjures a projection to show all of the Dark Urge’s actions since escaping the Nautiloid, certain it’s going to be a bloodbath…and instead it’s just [montage of Durge and Gale holding hands, flirting, smooching, gazing lovingly at each other, more smooching, Durge plucking a wildflower and tucking it behind Gale’s ear, still more smooching, smooching with tongue, hugging, Durge playing with Gale’s hair, Gale playfully pinching Durge’s cheeks, smooching & moaning, and finally the full-on Astral sex scene]

And we get to watch as Bhaal takes 800,000 points of psychic damage

Thinking about how pre-tadpole Durge definitely liked to have sex on the ground, surrounded by viscera. Gortash probably puts up with the constant blood and guts, but honestly would have preferred his nice silk bedsheets because he worked damn hard to get to the point where he could afford luxuries and would like to make use of them.

Then, tadpoled Durge returns to Wyrm's Rock and has spent who knows how long sleeping on the ground, foraging for food, actively suppressing the urges, and the only thing they want is to sleep on a nice, warm bed. Gortash welcomes them back with open arms, fully prepared to seduce them with the promise of a fresh kill and a lay amidst the gore, only to be surprised that Durge is just grateful for a moment of peace and quiet
