i'm going to start sitcom superiority discourse for a CAUSE!
WHICH OF THESE USA SITCOMS IS THE MOST INSUFFERABLE TO YOU?
please, share for sample size and to draw attention to Nesma's @nesmamomen GoFundMe! Share or donate and you'll help provide aid to and evacuate 13 members of her family trapped in Gaza. right now, winter is on the way and the tents are flooding. Nesma sent me these pictures yesterday.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the time of writing Nesma's GoFundMe is around 35K from its goal. We all feel helpless and exhausted. But even sharing this post helps. The best cure for feeling like there's nothing you can do is to do something!

***URGENT MATTAR***
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out because my family and I are facing a critical situation.
For over two months, funds collected in my account have been inadvertently deposited into the account of a person named Alex in USA. Despite numerous attempts to contact her, we haven’t heard back.
We’re unsure if we’ve been victims of fraud or if she’s experiencing difficulties that prevent her from responding or transferring the funds. This has put us in a tough spot, and I’m considering halting my posts on Tumblr until we resolve this.
We truly appreciate any support or guidance you can provide during this challenging time.
Thank you for taking the time to read our message;
It means the world to us.
Best,

!!GLOBAL STRIKE FOR PALESTINE!!
Tumblr media
alright guys, now that it's march 2nd, I'll refrain from posting about anything other than palestine, as shutitdownforpalestine has called for a global strike, a complete shutdown for palestine on march 2nd.
today, do not post about your interests and keep your blog flooded with posts of palestine!!
keep talking, keep donating, keep protesting, keep boycotting, call your reps, wear palestinian accessories to show your soliditary with palestine, don't buy any unessential things, spread the word, do not stay silent and do whatever you can!! even if you can't do anything on this list, one thing you can very easily do is to keep posting about palestine!! DO NOT STAY SILENT!!!!
!!!!اعملو اي حاجة، ساعدو الفلسطينيين، وحاربو الاحتلال
-
donate to the PCRF!!
donate to the UNICEF!!
donate for the pious project, an organization to help get menstural products into gaza!!
here's where you can donate gaza esims!!
if you can't donate, arab org is the best way as you don't have to pay anything to donate, just one click a day helps!! you click the button, and the ad money goes directly to the palestinian relief funds!! so whether if you can donate or not, don't forget your daily clicks on arab org!!
BDS: this is a movement to stop the international support of the occupation's genocide on palestine, and provides news of what's happening and what to boycott!!
Decolonize palestine: this provides in-depth information about palestine and it's history and origins!!
Where to send emails if you're in the USA:
USA - Tell your congress to stop fueling the Gaza genocide: email them, demand an immediate ceasefire, and demand for huminitarian aid to be allowed in gaza!!
Jewish voice for peace: use their form to send a letter to the congress to demand they focus on de-escalation instead of funding israel's genocide on palestinians!!
-
FREE PALESTINE!!! 🇵🇸🇵🇸

Shoutout to Indigenous systems on this day for Truth and Reconciliation!
Today, September 30th, is the Canadian National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This is a day of remembrance for victims and survivors of Indian residential schools in Canada, though it could likely apply to those who live on Turtle Island in general.
If your system or someone you know is or knows a survivor of an Indian residential school, or has a loved one who did not survive their time in a residential school, our hearts go out to you. We are wishing for you and family a future full of strength, peace, and resilience. Inter-generational trauma can have significant impacts, and the pain imposed on your loved ones and ancestors should not be forgotten as time passes. We hope that their lives can be honored and remembered throughout history, and we want to do our part to help preserve their legacy.
For allies of Indigenous peoples, if you are able to, please wear an orange shirt today to honor those whose lives were forever changed due to the negative impact residential schools has left on indigenous communities. Remember that, even today, Indigenous peoples face hardships, disparities, and inequalities in our society. The closure of residential schools does not mean rest, healing, and proper compensation for the victims of such institutions. Let’s vow as a community to make our spaces safe and accepting of Indigenous systems, and do our part to educate ourselves on their histories so that we may be better allies in the future.
Friends, please show some support to the Indigenous people in your lives today, and do not take their presence for granted. Take a moment to learn more about the history of Indian residential schools in Canada and the United States, and the grim legacy they have left which many Indigenous communities are still dealing with today. If you are able to, please reach out to the Indigenous systems and non-systems in your lives to provide support in whatever ways they have requested.
We will include links to sites and organizations where you can learn more about the Canadian National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and the history of Indian residential schools in both Canada and the USA, along with links where you can directly support survivors of Indian residential schools. Remember, if you cannot support these organizations or individuals financially, you can show your support by educating yourselves and providing a space in your own communities where Indigenous voices can be acknowledged and uplifted.
Indigenous systems, we love you, we are in your corner, and we want to support and uplift you however we can. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything we can do to help make our spaces more welcoming for you. You have an important and treasured place in the plural community, and we are honored to be able to share this space with you. We hope that you can do your best to treat yourselves and your system with compassion and gentleness today, and take care!
Tumblr media
‼️ Non-indigenous systems are welcome and encouraged to reblog, but DO NOT derail or try to center your voice over actual indigenous systems and those who are actually affected by inter-generational trauma due to Indian residential schools!‼️

Mia Bella - CC
Tumblr media
Pairing: Caitlin Clark x Reader
Summary: You and Caitlin meet at the dog park :)
Warnings: fluff
Word Count: 1.9k
Sweetbans Masterlist
AN: Here's a cute one for you - I honestly just love the thought of meeting outside of basketball and then having mutual support of one another. Ugh - I digress.
6 weeks. 6 weeks was all your summer at home consisted of before having to head back to school to start pre-season training. You play volleyball for UCLA which had you back in SoCal starting in the middle of July. Your love for playing outweighed your disgust for such a short summer but 6 weeks felt like nothing.
Your favorite part of being home was getting to spend all the time in the world with your baby, Mia. Mia is a six-year-old, beautiful aussie who has been your best friend ever since she was a puppy. She is your favorite reason to come home for the summer. She provided the rest you needed from training while keeping you out in the sun. And this summer you were extra excited.
The city had just put in a new dog park right down the street from your house that had triple the space than any of the parks within a 10-mile radius from you. The only plan you had was to take her there daily. You knew she wasn’t going to complain about that - it was a long-standing summer tradition for the two of you.
You got home on a Friday night and first thing Saturday morning was taking Mia to the park. You grab you both water, her ball, and a blanket and put it in a bag with some snacks (some for you and some for her). You grab Mia’s leash and next thing you know you are off to the park.
It’s a beautiful day. Mia makes a b-line to the park as your dad had been taking her since it opened. You get to the park right around 9 and find a nice place to set up your blanket. You set everything down and take Mia off her leash, she immediately gets the zoomies and you run around with her. You grab her ball and begin to play fetch.
If there is anything Mia loves more in this world than you, it is playing fetch. She would play all day if someone was willing to throw the ball to her. As you are throwing the ball with her you see another pup come and join Mia. A beautiful golden joins in with Mia - never stealing the ball but just happy to have someone to run around with. Mia drops her ball and the two dogs begin introducing themselves. The golden comes your way to get some pets and seems so excited to find another friend, even if you aren't four-legged.
Out of the corner of your eye, you see another 2-legged friend come jogging your way. You get up from the squat you were in to give the pups some love and give a little wave to the girl coming up.
"I am so sorry," she begins but you immediately wave her off.
"Please don't apologize, your pup is a sweetheart," you say as you continue to love on her pup. "What is their name?"
"Bella," the girl says. "My sweet Bella."
"It's so nice to meet you, Bella!" You say as you give her ear scratches. Your dog then goes up and looks for pets from the Bella's owner. "That is Mia," you say signaling to your baby.
Once a moment passes, you realize you haven't introduced yourself and extend your hand to do so. She shakes your hand with a smile and tells you her name is Caitlin.
"Well it is certainly a pleasure to meet you, Caitlin," you say with a smile. “I’ve caught a few of your games last season - your game is strong.” It’s her turn to smile after you give the compliment.
You invite her to sit while your pups run around. The two of you begin to get to know one another. You learn that she’s played basketball her whole life and that she had to play on the boys' team while she was in elementary. Following that - she was chosen to play for Team USA when she was in high school. As she was talking about playing, it was really neat to hear how much she loves the sport but is still able to separate her game from who she knows she is. Sitting there listening to her, it feels like she has opened a door to her soul- her genuine self. Your heart was instantly hooked.
As she kept talking, it felt like everything in the world melted away - she could talk you into circles and you would follow her anywhere. She talked about how she wanted to go to UConn but they never reached out to her. The coach never came to any of her games and the school never contacted her family. She ended up going to Iowa which meant she was close to home and her family could come and watch her play whenever. She talked about how that affected her in a way she wouldn’t have expected at the time but was for the better. You don’t know what it was but it felt like she was telling you things she hasn’t told anyone.
After she finishes talking about basketball, she starts to talk about how she was born and raised here. She talks about her two brothers and how competitive she was and still is. She talks about how there wasn’t much time for anything outside of basketball. Not that she regretted missing out on things like prom and dating.
When it was your turn, you talked about how you had a very similar background but instead of basketball, it was volleyball. You grew up playing from a young age and are now playing D1 volleyball at UCLA which is a little further from home than you hoped. You talked about how your family travels to come see you as often as they can but it never feels like enough. You talk about how you don't really know what you want to do after playing in college - you have thought about coaching but haven't figured it out yet.
Continuing, you talk about your family and how you are an only child but always wanted siblings growing up. You talk about how nice it was to go to college away but how much you missed the Midwest and look forward to coming back after you graduate. You relate to her in how time outside of sports had you missing things that felt like a right of passage but never really minded it. You were lucky to always have friends on the teams that you played on - they kept you going.
Before the two of you know, it is already mid-afternoon. Both of your pups are napping next to one another like they have known each other their whole lives.
"How long are you home for?" Caitlin asks.
"I have about 6 weeks before having to head back for training. It's not much but it is better than nothing," you say, giving a half smile to your new friend.
"Dang, that feels like nothing," she says with a little laugh. "Do you have any plans?" She asks, hoping that this is just the start of a new friendship rather than a one-and-done thing. She had shared more with you in the last few hours than she had with most people in the first month.
"The only set plan I have is to bring Mia here as much as possible," you say with a smile. "If you aren't super busy, you should join! You and Bella of course," you follow up.
"It's a date," she says giving you a smile. Your cheeks start to heat up, smiling back.
The next few weeks were some of the best you have ever had while being home for the summer. Caitlin and you had spent every day at the park, bringing your dogs of course. Some days you would both bring a book and read, others you would end up talking the whole time. It was really nice to have someone to spend time with while you were home.
Getting to know each other at the park is what brought you to her house today. As you get out of your car, you see her come around the house and wave. You give her a wave back as you grab your things. You don't know how it happened but one day at the park you brought up how her shooting from the logo and how you couldn't shoot a basketball to save your life. She promised she would teach you before the summer was over.
So here you are, about to make a fool of yourself in front of one of the best women college players and there was nothing you could do. You walk over to her and give her a little hug.
"Are you ready to learn how to shoot?" Caitlin says with excitement. Her excitement is contagious.
"As ready as I will ever be!" You say with a chuckle, Caitlin's cute when she is excited.
The two of you stretch and she goes on about how she knows you will be a natural...or so she hoped.
You always love to prove people wrong, usually, it is those who are telling you that you can't do something. This time around, you wish you could prove her right because it was quite embarrassing.
"Well that was terrible," she says with a laugh. Both of you are lying on the ground in her home gym as you have just spent the last two hours trying to do anything that resembled basketball.
"I feel like that doesn't do justice to what I am capable of athletically. If you really want to see what I can do, you would come to one of my games," you say with a laugh.
"I would love to see you play," she says, turning her head to look at you. "Maybe someday we can make that happen."
Looking back at her you reply, "I would love that Cait."
"Then I'll come watch you play," you say with a smile. She smiles in response and scoots a little closer.
"Can I tell you something?" She asks. You nod, turning to face her. The ground wasn't the most comfortable thing, but you wanted to provide her your full attention.
"I am really glad our dogs met that day in the park," she begins, not really making eye contact with you. "I wasn't super excited about coming home for the summer but meeting and getting to know you has changed that. I am really glad we met. talking to you and laughing with you has brought me joy and I want to continue talking even when you go back to California. I don't want to not talk to you...or see you because well, I like you. I like you a lot. And I don't really know what to do with how much I like you because this is all new to me and..." You grab her hand and give it a squeeze. She finally looks up at you.
Her hand comes up to your face, her fingers brushing against your cheek. Her eyes look at your lips as she begins to lean in.
"Tell me if you want me to stop," she says just above a whisper, as her face inches closer to yours. You shake your head no as you close your eyes, waiting to feel her lips.
The kiss is simple. It is slow, just getting to know what the other feels like. Once she breaks away, you place your forehead against hers.
"I like you too," you say with a smile.
AN: Finally a shorter one, we are working on it. I hope you enjoyed it! And as always, thank you for your love and support 🤍

🇵🇸 Free Palestine- A guide for getting involved (Somewhat USA-focused)! 🇵🇸
This post is going to get very long, so I'm trying my best to break it up into manageable sections! Some parts of this post are applicable to people outside America, but at this time, I'm only knowledgeable enough about the movement in America to make a post about it!
Find Out About Local Organizations To Get Involved With
The best place to start is to find out what's already happening locally! If you live in a large/larger town/city, chances are something's already happening nearby!
For Americans: Look here to find out about the closest PSL (Party for Socialism and Liberation) chapter to where you live! They are involved in direct activism all across the US!
Find out if there's a PYM (Palestinian Youth Movement) chapter near you! They are extremely active
For college students in the US: Find out if there's an SJP (Students for Justice in Palestine) chapter on your campus! If there isn't, try founding your own! Look at their website here to learn more!
Also for college students in the US: Find out if there's a YDSA (Young Democratic Socialists of America) chapter on your campus!
Participate in BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions)
Find out how to get involved here
Hold Local News Outlets Accountable
Find out about the local news outlets in your area
Keep up-to-date with their publications
If it's a digital source, search it for any and all publications related to Palestine and Israel- if this search yields results, are the articles supportive of Palestine and its supporters?
If you encounter an article/multiple articles that lean towards or outright try to justify Israel's actions or spread propaganda, then you can do a few things-
1) If the article is digital, make a public comment correcting any misinformation in the article. Try to keep your comment straight to the point and factual.
2) Find out who wrote the article and reach out to them personally to discuss said article and the issues you have with it. Share your point of view and discuss misinformation and harmful language contained within the article.
3) Find out the editor of the article, and write a 'letter to the editor'. Such letters may have a word limit varying between different news outlets, so keep your letter brief yet powerful and deconstruct your issues with the article
4) Reach out to the owner of said publication and ask if you can try your hand at writing an opinion piece for them. Sometimes, it can take awhile to get one of your opinion pieces accepted, but if it's something you're passionate about, keep trying!
If a particular news outlet has a repeated pattern of dehumanizing and villifying the Palestinian freedom cause in their publications, try getting in touch with local activist groups! They can help- from organizing letter campaigns to actual protests outside the news headquarters!
Urge Your Town/City to Pass A Ceasefire Resolution-
First, check and see if there's already an organized movement in your town or city to pass a ceasefire resolution (via pressuring your local town/city council)- NOTE: If you live in a very small town, the chances are smaller that there is already an organized movement- but that doesn't mean you can't help to start one
If there is already a movement, find out when the public comment sessions for your town's/city's council are, and find out how you can sign up to speak- if you do so, you can also try and connect with the organizers of your local movement for advice on writing a statement in support of a ceasefire resolution
An addendum to the previous point: if you sign up to speak, find out if you can also provide a visual presentation for your statement- these are often especially powerful
If there isn't an organized movement yet, that doesn't at all mean that one can't be started. I recommend reaching out to the nearest town/city you know of that has an organized movement for a ceasefire resolution
Send emails and letters, and call, to all your town/city council members to consistently urge them to pass a ceasefire resolution
Pressure Your Representatives to Vote against Aid to Israel-
This is not US-specific- if you have representatives of your local area on the national level, you can pressure them through calls, emails, letters, setting up meetings, and direct action, to not sign off on aid proposals for Israel
Setting up meetings is particularly impactful- you have a chance to speak with them or their reps one-on-one with your point of view
Call/email EVERY DAY! Pressure only works if it is consistent, and ask your friends and family members to join you in contacting them to build even more pressure
Donate To-
These fundraisers to help various families leave Gaza
Your local/closest Palestinian Children's Relief Fund's chapter
1 or more of the Global Rahmah Foundation's projects for Gaza
ANERA
HEAL Palestine
Local drives for the World Food Pantry and other local fundraisers are also super important!
This is not an all-inclusive list of ways to support Palestine, it's just intended to be a guide for getting involved for people who want to get involved but aren't sure where to start. Please suggest or correct anything for this post, and please spread it around! @fairuzfan @palipunk @tamarrud @el-shab-hussein @apollos-olives @metalheadsforblacklivesmatter @bfpnola

‘Tremendous story’ of Hughes brothers continues with upcoming matchup
Defenseman Quinn of Canucks ready for latest meeting against Devils’ Jack, Luke on Wednesday
By Mike G. Morreale
new season provides another opportunity for defenseman Quinn Hughes to finally break through against his brothers when the Vancouver Canucks host the New Jersey Devils at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Wednesday (10:30 p.m. ET; SN1, MSGSN).
The eldest Hughes is in search of his first goal against his brothers, Jack and Luke, in his ninth career game against the Devils.
"There's never any talk about the head-to-head results of the games," said Quinn Hughes, who is 25 years old, 19 months older than center Jack, 23, who is 28 months older than defenseman Luke, 21.
Quinn and Jack have played against each other seven times in the NHL. New Jersey is 6-1-0 in those games, and Jack has 13 points (seven goals, six assists) with a plus-2 rating and 34 shots on goal. Luke joined his older brothers in the NHL as a rookie last season, and in two games (one without Jack due to injury) he went 1-1-0 with a goal and an assist against Quinn and the Canucks.
"I mean, sometimes it's not about who you play, but more when you're hot and whatnot," Jack Hughes said. "I know that they have a really good team over there and I'm really excited. I think this year it's less about the three of us ... like the Hughes Bowl. I think we can go there, enjoy our time, and spend some of it with Quinn and our parents. I think for us, it's definitely on a lower scale so that'd be more exciting and fun to just get out there."
Quinn has faced one or both of his brothers in all eight games against the Devils in his career. The Canucks are 2-5-1 in those games, and Quinn has eight assists and a minus-1 rating with 18 shots on goal.
"I try to dummy it down in my head because I just want to focus on what I can control and playing a good game," Quinn said. "But it's obviously meaningful and you know who you're playing against."
The Hughes' story was a success from the start as never before had an American family had three brothers selected in the first round of the NHL Draft.
Quinn was chosen No. 7 by the Canucks in the 2018 NHL Draft. Jack was selected No. 1 by the Devils a year later, and Luke went No. 4 to the Devils in the 2021 NHL Draft. Jack was the first player from USA Hockey's National Team Development Program Under-18 team to go directly from the draft to the NHL; Quinn and Luke each spent two seasons at the University of Michigan before signing his professional contract.
"I've got two boys and think about the time and the effort that's put into them and you see them grow, and you just love to support them and have them enjoy the game that I love so much, but to have three boys excel on that level and that stage is incredible," New Jersey coach Sheldon Keefe said. "Really, it's a tremendous story and just the two that we have to work with ... tremendous kids and their talents are outrageous. Sometimes you see two brothers and think it's pretty impressive seeing them playing against each other around the League, and to have three, even more so."
Quinn and Jack are already bona fide stars in the NHL, each having played in the NHL All-Star Game twice and Quinn winning the Norris Trophy voted as the best defenseman in the NHL in 2023-24. Luke continues to gain traction in his second professional season after being a finalist for the Calder Trophy as NHL rookie of the year last season.
The Hughes brothers also are the first siblings to grace an EA SPORTS cover together, and they took part in a memorable photo session for EA SPORTS NHL 25 over the summer.
"Being on the cover is definitely something I wanted to do in my career and to do it in year six is really special," Jack said. "To do it with my bros was definitely a lot of fun. Most NHL guys grew up playing (EA SPORTS) NHL so it's a massive honor.
"We know the ratings ... it's in the right order, I'd say."
Quinn owns the highest rating of the three (94), followed by Jack (93) and Luke (86).
"I played one year so the ratings are right where they should be," Luke said. "They've definitely done a lot in this league so far. Quinn had an unbelievable season last year and same with Jack. I'm starting to get my game going and coming into my own here. I got a lot of work to do and got to keep getting better."
Luke missed the first nine games of the season with a left shoulder injury but has one assist playing in three straight games. Jack is fifth on the Devils with 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 12 games, and Quinn is third on the Canucks with eight points (two goals, six assists) in eight games.
Jack and Luke each said he feels Quinn is the best of the bunch at this stage in their careers.
"It's his consistency every night he's out there and how he tries to create stuff every shift, but it's also how hard he defends," Luke said. "He makes really hard plays down low, and his transition passes are super quick. I love watching him."
Said Jack: "I've always admired how calm and poised Quinn is and how he thinks things through. He can kind of talk himself out of situations, so I think he's got that really good way about him in terms of not letting things get to him and being a calm guy. Not that me and Luke don't have that, but he's probably the master in the family at it."
The Canucks (4-1-2) entered Tuesday third in the Pacific Division, four points behind the Vegas Golden Knights for first place. The Devils (6-4-2) began the day first in the Metropolitan Division, one point ahead of the New York Rangers.
Quinn also has an admiration for how his younger brothers approach and excel at the game.
"With Jack, his competitiveness is crazy," he said. "He's just kind of always been a person that his drive is really high. His will to get better, and his love for the game.
"With Luke, it's mental toughness and his ability to not let anything get too high or too low."

Hey there! I wanted to put together a post for people here in the USA to give you some tangible steps for supporting Palestine including links to resources for them.
If you're not registered to vote or you're not sure whether or not you are, you can go here to vote.org. You can check whether or not you're registered AND register on there. You have the right and power to vote, and you should use it!
Here you can find out who your state representatives are at house.gov using your zip code. This website will include a link to your representatives' website, and I highly recommend going there as well to see what their stances are, especially right now on Palestine. Their website should also include contact information. You should check your senators' sites and stances as well.
You should call your state representatives and senators and voice your support for Palestine.
You should condemn the violence against Palestinians perpetrated by Israel and state your disgust and anger with the USA allowing and supporting Israel in carrying out these atrocities.
You should specifically state you will not vote for candidates that will not support Palestine through legislation.
You can choose which companies you give your money to! Please check here for what brands BDS is encouraging consumers to boycott for supporting Israel. And participate in the boycott!
Here is a post providing a simple to do email campaign to voice your support for Palestine it only takes a minute.
Here are trusted organizations that you can donate to.
And importantly, please stay as informed as you can. Listen to activists. It is from multiple activists I follow and check their pages regularly that I learned these steps to making an impact. Voice your support for Palestine. Call your reps. Boycott brands. Keep up with the people who are informed and can inform you on your best course of action to support Palestine.
I greatly appreciate people adding additional resources to this post if they're so inclined and additional tips or criticism of my advice as well is welcome if there's something I missed or should change.

Astoria: Fate's Kiss Is Getting Re-released On 25 July, Here Are Some Things You Should Keep In Mind
Most people don't know it (until now I guess), but I'm the founder of, and have been running the @ls-salvation-squad project since Christmas 2021. I hardly interact with the LS community outside of the project server in a personal capacity as I've largely left the fandom around 6 months before the announcement of the app's closure.
I was pretty late to the game (pun intended), having only learnt about the app in 2020, but managed to be around for 'milestone events' such as the writers' strike and the DMCA rampage on YouTube/tumblr. Thanks to certain friends and technology, I've also had privileged access to a quasi-'insider look' into Voltage's workings (and failings) as a studio, both in real time and through secondhand horror stories of the past.
This culmination of experiences has spurred me to make my first, and last, personal opinion piece regarding LS on tumblr, a corner of the community that I haven't really interacted much with.
While I understand the sheer joy, relief and excitement that comes with revived, legal access to some of the most impressive, unapologetically queer stories to have ever graced the internet, I want to point out the ugly truths that are intertwined with the revival of this troubled app:
Buying the game =/= supporting the creators. Not a cent of your money goes towards them. Even when Voltage USA used to be a thing, barely any of it went towards the employees in general either. The writers were paid 3 cents/word, and producers were working twice as hard but only paid around half of their counterparts in other companies. AFAIK the artists have kept quiet but it would be more of a surprise if they were treated any better than their peers.
Buying the game =/= supporting queer content/community. This might come as a shocker, but homophobia ran rampant within Voltage's management. The best evidence of this can be found in their history of 'peculiar' business or creative decisions - and they've made a fuckton of bad choices. Fun fact; the first queer routes were only made possible via sheer force of will of a particular producer. I'm not at liberty to share the nitty gritty on this public platform as the stories aren't mine, but maybe if you asked some of the former staff nicely, they might give you cryptic hints.
You're gonna be paying them a THIRD time. Many of us have already shelled out hundreds of dollars on heart choices - not once, but twice. Putting the whole version on Steam/Switch had always been a valid option from the beginning of the end, but they chose not to do it. Why? Because users scrambling to make bulk purchases of tickets and hearts to record routes as a last hurrah meant a last, fat cash-in. Not to mention the fact that they're selling the game at US$30 per series, for almost decade-old content, presumably without any new additions. At this point, throwing your hard earned money at them AGAIN is just rewarding scummy management and unscrupulous business models.
Do you really need to? Our team of around 100 archivists worked tirelessly in Q1 of 2022 to provide you high quality recordings of every single route. We've gone so far as to acquire recordings of pre-LS Voltage content such as Queen's Gambit and all of the soundtracks. We've put assets up for download. There are a dozen passionate creators out there who have been updating their Ren'Py recreations so that you can scratch your itch - and all for free!!! What more could you possible want or need that only the greedy bastards at Voltage can give you - apart from seeing your custom MC name on the screen and the absolutely inconsequential choices B & C that our videos didn't cover?
Is this a call for a boycott? I guess not really, or at least I didn't consciously set out to make it like this. Dissuading others from purchasing legal access to media when it's easily available goes against my general principle about responsibly and pragmatically supporting creators. And as one 'em Gays™, I know the preciousness of possessing Queer Stories Written By Queer People.
But I was concerned at what seemed to be a wave of happiness and eagerness at news of the revival, without any mention of the absolute shit show that has led us to this very point. There's a very big part of me that's absolutely pissed at being taken for a ride. News of the revival has been a bittersweet development for us all, especially those who have poured their time, money and energy over the past 2.5 years into salvaging what was thought to be a lost piece of queer media - only to find out that all that effort might only get them a slap to the face in the form of a DMCA from the grave. So yeah, fuck you Voltage.
TLDR: You should really save your money for more ethical, indie developers who have the decency to not mock your consumer intelligence. I don't think it's a crime against humanity if you end up buying it after all, but just think about it yeah?

Calls for Action, Call Your Reps: 2/21/24
This is USA-specific, as that is the place I live and know.
Find your elected officials.
There are no bills scheduled to be on the floor on the House or Senate this week, though that may change. The chambers are using this time to debate and negotiate changes to the bills that were passed in the other chamber last week.
Suggested verbiage and strategies for calling your elected officials.
Both House and Senate:
Reinstate funding for UNRWA. While the claims made by Israel that employees of the relief agency were involved in Oct. 7th are troubling, THEY are not well supported, and western officials did not do their duty in investigating the claims before cutting funding. This arm of the UN is currently providing food, water, shelter, and medical care to the 2.3 million displaced peoples of Gaza. It is especially disturbing and concerning that the many children of Gaza, who are already suffering due to this conflict, are now having this support revoked. Many sources are also claiming that the evidence is flimsy at best.
UNICEF is reporting that children are dying of hunger in Gaza, as of today (2/21/24).
Urge both Senate and House to refrain from funding Israel, or to at least put some strings on it. The IDF cannot be given funding without some regulations on what they can do with it. They have proven that they are unwilling to take steps to protect civilians.
Sanctions must also be placed on Israel for its continued impediment of aid intended for Gazans, including aid from the US.
Urge for the US to stop vetoing ceasefire demands in the UN. No, the suggested replacement written by the US is not an excuse.
FOR THE SENATE: Urge your senator to put their support behind Bernie Sanders and his motion to restrict funding to Israel until a humanitarian review of the IDF’s actions in Gaza has been completed. Cite it as Senate Resolution 504 if your Senator is right-wing enough to react negatively to the mention of Sanders by name. NOTE: This resolution was TABLED by the Senate on 1/16, but it is being brought back in as conditions continue to escalate.
Passed in the House last week, so bother your senators about it, is H.R. 3016: IGO Anti-Boycott Act. Vote Nay. This appears to be intended to force US companies to do business with US allies instead of participating in boycotts. This appears, to me, to be an attack on movements like BDS. To Dem Reps, argue that this refuses the right of peaceful protest to US citizens. To Republican Reps, argue that this is a dangerous government overreach and that it is not the right of the government to force US citizens to purchase products and materials from specific foreign partners.
Not related to Gaza: It looks like they're gearing up for another push at KOSA. The canned email responses I'm getting are really proud of being FOR KOSA, which is... bad. VOTE NAY.
FOR THE HOUSE: Urge your representative to put their support behind Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s petition for the US government to recognize the IDF’s actions in Gaza as ethnic cleansing and forced displacement, and put a stop to it. ALTERNATELY: recommend that they support House Resolution 786, introduced by Rep. Cori Bush, Calling for an immediate deescalation and cease-fire in Israel and occupied Palestine.
If you wish to support my political blogging, I am accepting donations on ko-fi.

A few miles from my house, there is a church where I take my daughter to get pumpkins every fall. As an atheist, I normally don't support churches, but this one doesn't bother me. My husband and I call it the gay church because they proudly fly a bunch of LGBTQIA+ flags out front, and their slogan is "A Place Where All Are Welcome." Their pumpkin patch proceeds don't go to missionary work; they go to supporting homeless teens and other actual charitable causes.
When we first moved here, the gay church would host various fundraisers for those charitable causes. One of these events was a family-friendly drag bingo night. Remember not too long ago how there was a big push by conservative groups to ban drag shows all over the USA? The gay church got caught up in that, suddenly becoming a target for far-right protests.
By some weird chance, I didn't drive past the gay church the day it happened. I drive past it most days, so I was surprised the next day when I saw the news. Neo-Nazi groups, including the Proud Boys, Patriot Front, and the Aryan Freedom Network came out to protest this tiny little church where we buy our pumpkins. Many of them were armed with assault rifles; some waved Nazi flags and gave Nazi salutes. Counter-protesters stood in front of the church with signs and pride flags, too. Police in riot gear had to keep them apart.
The local news reported that the two sides were at odds over "providing a safe place for all" vs. "advocating for children in the community," which is an absurd way of putting it, but sure. What struck me most about the reports, though, was not that they ignored the presence of the Nazi groups or carefully edited their footage to avoid showing any swastikas that were present. It was the non-Nazi protesters who came out to picket the church, themselves representing churches or other religious groups. Those protesters complained about being grouped in with the Nazis, whom they found despicable, and it made me laugh because... I mean, you chose your side of the street, didn't you? You might not be able to control who else was on that side, but you sure as hell had control over whether or not to join them.
That's how I feel about the people who voted for Trump in this election (and the last one, and the one before that). Trump himself has told us that there are very fine people on both sides, and to be honest, I kind of understand that. Everyone wants to think of themselves as a good person; even those who don't think they're particularly good still think they're at least right in their beliefs about the world. Everyone is the protagonist of their own life story, and few ever think of themselves as being on the wrong side of anything.
Maybe most of those Trump voters are very polite. Maybe they love animals and do charitable work and donate to causes that those of us on the political left would happily donate to. Maybe they make the best brownies you've ever had and always tip well. Maybe they're friendly with their neighbors even though their neighbors are immigrants. Maybe they are immigrants themselves.
But whatever else they might be, they picked their side, and it wasn't the side of inclusion or kindness. They crossed the street and stood next to the Nazis.
So to all the very fine people out there who voted for Trump, whether you did it because you sincerely believe that public schools are performing sex-change operations on children or whether you just wanted another fucking tax cut, recognize that you banded together with the worst elements of our society in order to achieve your goal. We on the left get taken to task for lumping you in with Nazis, but you lumped yourself in with them by choice. The Nazis are celebrating right now because of the decision you made. They couldn't have won without you.
Go sit in that for a while.

Putting here a note I posted on another pessimistic take regarding the presumed Dem Nominee:
I have been seriously floored by all the pessimism I’ve seen surrounding this extremely predictable and honestly inevitable event. Kamala is a cop, and has participated in unforgivable acts. We should always keep this in mind. With this in mind, she was one of the few Democrats in the Senate that voted against Israel, and, overall as a senator, was very progressive. At times even voting more progressively than Bernie Sanders. As a presidential candidate in 2019 - she proposed more radical federal abortion protections that went beyond Roe v Wade, limiting state abortion laws. As a presidential candidate, she proposed a $10 trillion climate plan. As a senator, she was an original co-sponsor of the non-binding resolution defining the Green New Deal aimed at transitioning the U.S. to 100 percent clean energy within a decade while providing people with job guarantees and “high-quality health care.”(backed by Sen. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). She also said in 2019 that there was “no question I’m in favor of banning fracking,”. In 2020 Harris said she was “prepared to get rid of the filibuster” (which Biden long opposed) to pass it in the face of GOP opposition to climate action. Harris was an early voice inside the administration advocating for forgiving student debt, even before Biden. Harris’ own plan from her 2019 presidential campaign, which would have offered forgiveness for Pell grant recipients who start businesses, drew criticism from progressives who called it confusing and less ambitious than proposals from Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). More recently, Harris was the face of the Biden administration’s decision in 2022 to wipe out all debt owed by hundreds of thousands of students who attended Corinthian Colleges, a chain of for-profit schools that Harris prosecuted as California attorney general. She supports free colleges(including fees) for ALL Americans attending 2-year colleges(and 4 year colleges for middle class students which I'm weirded out by but I'm not going to oppose any 'free college' narratives)
There are a few more things to add, I got all of this from an article on Politco about how the Harris administration might differ from Biden and I encourage you to look into it and check the sources or do your own diligence.
This article is only comparing Harris to Biden which I think is a huge failure and I plan to compare these same points to the Trump administration to really get an idea on what we might be going up against.
Remember that in the USA, in the Presidential Election, we might not be voting for the candidate that conforms perfectly with our own ideology... We are voting for the candidate that we believe we have the best chance of influencing, the candidate that might actually listen to what the American Populace is screaming at them.
That wasn't Joe Biden, clearly, and send a thank you to all of the dems in the senate in congress that pressured him out. Kamala, however, is much more likely to listen to the country, especially when it comes to Netanyahu. She condemned Israel as early as December.
Trump will fast-track the genocide in Gaza. His sons have already spoken out about how ripe Gaza is for premium real-estate.
