people Luci Butler turns three today so we must not forget to credit her mother (and best friend) in a world where it seems moms get no recognition for being superhuman.

user12 imagine using a 3 year olds bday to make some political womens movement statement. mom’s get plenty of recognition.
butlerfamupdates I actually applaud People Magazine for this. All day magazine’s have posted Austin’s cutest moments with Luci and talked about what a wonderful Dad he is - which no one would ever doubt to think he is - but Luci’s mom is very much present as well and deserves love too. Luci loves both her parents. It’s normal for a kid to have favorites, it doesn’t make the other parent ‘bad.’
ccgfan Y/N and Luci sharing their love for open water together and creating sea shell necklaces i cry
ccgfan1 You just know she’s the most supportive and loving mother! Austin and Luci are so lucky to have her!

austin x reader series
invisible string : a summer fling when you were working on the set of the shannara chronicles turned your life upside down with a positive pregnancy test after austin returned to the united states. a pregnancy test, and a daughter that you never told him about. until the elvis biopic found him back in your orbit and forced you to face the music.

what started in beautiful rooms (priscilla actress!reader) : “what happened between you and austin?” is a question you dread. it makes your gut twist, even if only proposed through a pointed look. the short answer is “a lot”. the long answer is more complicated.

you got me : some guys at a tour stop get too close for comfort while elvis is off talking to a reporter. a lil angst + hurt comfort.
itty bitty pretty one : elvis being lost in playing peekaboo or making faces for his baby daughter to get her to laugh, so much so that he doesn't realize you've walked in.
bad habit : you knew the first fight was going to happen at some point. and as the honeymoon phase started to slip away you could feel it edging in from around the corner. little things were starting to get under your skin, and you could sense that elvis was experiencing the same.
Tumblr media
austin x reader one shots + blurbs
wherever you go, i'll follow : the cannes film festival is your first big press event and when your nerves get the best of you you're worried that austin will want someone who can keep up with his lifestyle. hurt/comfort with a lil' fluff.
rubble to rubble : starting a family with austin doesn't come as easy you thought it would.
hey little hollywood : austin butler was a part time expert in seeing right through every wall you put up, which you'd come to accept as both a gift and a curse.
late night "talking" : surprising austin at set after a long day didn’t come without an ulterior motive. which he fed into happily of course.
bad idea : "austin and reader are watching the 68 comeback special, reader is a huge elvis fan and is getting super hot & bothered watching elvis (so HOT in the special). austin is amused and teases her and then it turns into smut with maybe some role play austin as elvis. just my thoughts!"
pov you're dating austin butler and looking at your phone
pov you're the priscilla actress @elvisabutler talks about and you're on your phone a lot
everything changes : austin waiting for the birth of his child and offering encouraging words during birth <3
never grow up : you'd excepted you and your daughter to shed some tears on her first day of kindergarten, and not that you didn't think austin wouldn't be emotional. you just didn't think he'd be more bent out of shape than the both of you combined.

“Okay. It’s your turn.”
“Don’t you have some kind of homework or something you should be doing?”
“Probably. But at this exact moment in time I would rather play Skip Bo with you,” you tell Austin as you closely watch what cards he plays. He chuckles under his breath at the intensity on your face as you watch, before speaking up.
“After this game, you’re getting your computer, opening the school website, and seeing what homework you need to do for tomorrow, got it?”
“Yeah, dad,” you reply with a roll of your eyes and a slight chuckle. At that, Austin sets his cards down and grabs your hands.
“Baby. I’m not trying to father you, I just want you to succeed at what you’re doing, and you won’t do that if you blow off your homework every night just to spend time with me. You live here now, and awards season is over. I don’t leave for filming again until the end of the summer. Darlin’, you don’t have to fight for time with me anymore. Come here,” he says, and taps your hands to make you stand up and move. You move to him, and hesitate before deciding to sit sideways on his lap, leaning your head on his shoulder. “I’m here. I’ll be here everyday. And now that you’ve moved in you’re going to wind up getting tired of me.”
“Aus, I’m sorry. I was being too clingy. And it wasn’t because I was worried about you having to go on a trip again. It was because I don’t want to face the end of the semester. I don’t want to have to say goodbye to my friends. I don’t want to have to stress about passing my classes. I basically don’t want anything about the end of the semester to happen,” you tell him, and he just wraps his arms tighter around you. “Plus, I still haven't processed everything that happened that was the cause of me moving in with you a few weeks early. I’m trying to stay busy to keep my mind off of it. At least until school ends and I can be positive I never have to see…”
“I know, Sweetheart. But we still have to go back that last day to get the last of your things,” he says with a short kiss on your forehead.
“I’m aware. Which is why I need to ignore it until that exact moment. When the semester is over, then I will think about it again. Until then, I want to spend my nights with you, not worrying about anything else. At least until the morning. And all I have left is my finals. Two tomorrow and two Friday. Then move out on Saturday. And then I’m all yours for the summer. Well except for that family vacation, which my mom wanted me to tell you that you could join us if you would like we’re going to,” you say, but then he cuts you off.
“Disney World. Your mom texted me last night,” he says with a chuckle as he lets go of you and points to the game. “It’s your turn now,” he says and you scramble to grab your cards and take your turn.
After the game ends, the two of you fall into a comfortable silence, the movie having stopped a long time ago.
“Hey, Aus?” you quietly say, not 100% sure that you actually want to say what you’re about to say, but knowing that you need to talk about it.
“Yeah sweetheart?”
“I think I’m ready to talk about… it. I think it will be good to talk it out before I have to see… her, again.”
“Okay baby. Let’s talk about it,” he says, and pulls you into him, and the two of you sit on the floor for the next hour and talk about what had happened between you and your roommate/best friend that you hadn’t talked to in two weeks and didn’t plan on talking to ever again. You start crying about two sentences in, and don’t stop until you’ve said your last sentence, which was the reason the conversation took an entire hour anyway.
“I’m really proud of you for telling me about it and getting it off your chest. That took a lot of effort, I know,” he tells you, and kisses the top of your head. “Now, I know I told you earlier you needed to do homework, but I think we should just go to bed. Does that sound okay?” You just nod, and stand up, before holding your hand out for him to take, and he takes it and stands up, and the two of you head into the bedroom and head to bed.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“Austin! Austin! I’m home! Austin! Hello?” you shout as you come through the front door of the house.You start to drop your things and take your shoes off as you start to shout again. “Austin! Are you home?”
“I’m in here!” you finally hear him respond, his voice coming from the kitchen, and you drop your last shoe to the floor before sprinting into the kitchen.
“I took my last final! And the teacher sent me a message while I was driving home that I saw when I got here, that I passed with an A! I passed all my classes. I officially only have one semester left!”
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
Two days after that, you, Austin, and his sister Ashley stand in the apartment you used to share with your friends.
“Okay, most of my clothes have been moved to Austin’s,” I start, but Austin cuts me off.
“It’s no longer just mine. Its ours,” he says, and leans down to kiss the top of my head.
“Right, ours. That’s still kinda weird to say. Anyway, all that's really left is some small furniture, and my books, it shouldn’t take that long. I think it’s all going in the spare in Aus… our apartment.”
“Okay. Let’s get to it,” Ashley says, and together the three of you pack up what’s remaining of your apartment within the hour. Just as the three of you are beginning to head out the door for the last time, it opens and in walks your roommate, the exact one you had been hoping not to see.
“Hey there stranger!” she says with a huge smile on her face, as though nothing had happened between the two of you. You force a smile and mumble hello, stepping closer to Austin. He knows your tells, and he wraps an arm around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
“Hey, Blaire,” he says with a fake smile on his face, one only you and Ashley would know is fake, but closely resembles one of his smiles from the Carrie Diaries days. “We’re just heading out. All moved out. The rest is up to you, Y/N did her part. See ya later,” he says, and then together the three of you walk out the door, and into the elevator. As soon as you get into the elevator, you turn into Austin and bury your head in his chest, and just start sobbing. You feel Ashley reach over and start rubbing your back, and the two of them just let you sit there and cry. When the elevator reaches the lobby, Austin helps you move out to the car without it being obvious that you’re crying. When you get sat down in the car, you try to start drying your face off and pull it together.
“I’m sorry. I just wasn't expecting her to show up. I thought we had gotten through it without having to see her.”
“I know baby. It’s okay,” Austin says, and starts driving. You assume he was heading back to the apartment you share, so you close your eyes and just lean on the window. You don’t even notice he’s pulling into a drive through, until you hear the person at the speaker.
“Uh, yes, can I get two chocolate milkshakes and a strawberry one,” he says, and then pulls to the window after they reply. He gets handed the three milkshakes, and passes a chocolate one to you and the strawberry one to Ashley in the back.
“What is this for?” you ask him as you sip on yours.
“You’ve had a bad day. So, milkshakes. Plus they’re a great pick me up before we move this stuff out of my car and into our apartment,” he says.
The three of you spend the next hour and a half moving the stuff into the spare room in your apartment, and then spend the rest of the night just spending time together, since it isn’t often that you’re able to hang out with Ashley.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
A week later, you stand in the middle of the bedroom you now share with Austin, staring at your empty suitcase and all of the clothes you are supposed to take with you spread out on the bed. You and Austin both have a bit of a Disneyland/Disney addiction, so besides all of the matching clothes your mother had sent the two of you it seemed impossible to fit in this suitcase.
“Hey Aus?” you shout from where you are, hoping he’ll hear you, wherever he is.
“Yeah, Darlin’?” he shouts back.
“Can you come here?” you ask, and then hear him begin to walk towards you from wherever he was. You zone out for a second staring at the tv show you have going in the background as you pack. It isn’t until Austin speaks again that you snap out of it.
“What do you need?” he asks as he walks in and stands behind you, placing his hands on your hips, and leaning down so his chin rests on your shoulder.
“Apparently we either need another suitcase, or we need to take less extra. So. We know that we have to take the three matching days to match with my family. Then there’s the two other days. And then we’ll fly home. That’s 6 outfits that we’ll end up needing. Now, looking at all of this here in front of me, I think that we each have at least 10 outfits here. We do not need that many. So, pick three that you want to get rid of. I’ll do the same. Which will leave both of us with one extra, for emergencies.”
You move to the side of the suitcase that your clothes are on and do the same thing he’s doing. It takes him around five minutes before he says he’s done. He sits down in the chair that you have sitting by the window, and grabs the book he has been reading, and reads until you’re done choosing outfits.
“Okay. I’m done,” you say when you have finished picking outfits. Austin stands up and walks over to you, assessing what all needs to be shoved into this suitcase.
“You know, maybe we should each take a suitcase. I mean, you and I both know that the both of us are going to get many souvenirs and new clothes. So why don’t we just each take a suitcase instead of trying to shove all of it in one. And then, you could even take an extra pair of converse, besides the two that you have sitting here already,” he says, kissing the top of your head and turning to the closet to get an extra suitcase.
“You’re right. It was dumb to think we could pack in one suitcase. While you’re in there can you grab my blue platform converse? I think those will go great with the shirts my mom picked for day three,” you say, and hear him laugh from inside the closet. Before long he comes out with both the suitcase and the shoes, and the two of you pack together in silence for a bit.
What time does the plane leave tomorrow?” he asks after a few minutes as he places the last few things in his suitcase.
“9 AM, so we need to leave here by 6:30. You and I both know that LAX will be crazy in the morning,” you tell him as you shove your last pair of shoes into the suitcase.
“Yeah it will. Okay, I’ll tell James to be here by 6, so we can get loaded up,” he says, and then lifts both of your suitcases off of the bed and rolls them over to the door. “I’m going to take these downstairs and then grab some ice cream out of the freezer. Do you want some?”
“Yes please! Surprise me with which flavor,” you say, and then flop down on the bed, grabbing the remote to choose a movie to watch. He comes back a few minutes later with a pint of ice cream for both of you, and you spend the rest of the night watching a movie and eating ice cream.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“I’m so excited!” you yell as you get into Magic Kingdom, with Austin hot on your trail and your family in front of you. You hear him laugh behind you, and pause and turn around to face him. “Are you as excited as I am?”
“I don’t think so Darlin’, but I am excited to see you so excited, after everything that happened those last weeks of school,” he tells me, and pulls you into his arms. You stand there for a few, just holding each other, in the happiest place on earth. “We should probably get moving. The lines won’t stay short for long. Also,” he says, and turns his head to look around, “there are about five people who have their phones out and are videoing us. We’ll be in Daily Mail tomorrow. I mean we probably would have been anyway, but we’ve been hugging for like three minutes,” he finishes with a small chuckle, and you chuckle as well, pulling away.
“I wonder where my family went,” you mumble as the two of you join hands and start to walk towards where you had last seen your family standing. You use your free hand to pull your phone out of your pocket, and look to see if you had any messages.
Momma💕
We stepped into the candy shop on main. It looked like you two needed a moment 🥰
“They’re in the candy shop. Up and to the left,” you tell him, and start slightly pulling him in that direction. When you get to the candy shop you go in and meet up with your family, before all of you head towards the castle for the photo op in front of it. You take some with your entire family and Austin, and some just you and Austin.
After taking pictures, your family splits up, agreeing to meet outside the castle before your dinner reservations. You and Austin head to Fantasyland to go on the Teacup ride. You don’t say anything to Austin, because you know he notices as well, but you watch as fans, or people who just recognize who he is, take pictures of the two of you, more and more each time.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“So kids, what did you do with your freetime in the park today?” your mom asks as you all sit at the restaurant table.
“Mom, we were all in the same park, we all probably did the same things just in a different order,” your brother replies
“Not necessarily. I mean I know Brad and I didn’t really go on any of the rides, we just visited shops, did character meet ups, and stuff like that.”
“Y/N and I went on a bunch of rides and then went to some stores and character meet up,” Austin joins in the conversation.
“Yeah! I think my favorite ride was Space Mountain. And I almost cried when we met Ariel,” you say, with a slight chuckle.
“You always did love her,” your mom replies, laughing along with you.
“Um, so,” Austin starts, clearing his throat. “When we,” he pauses, and looks at you and you give him a small nod to let him know it is okay to continue. “When we told my management that we were coming on this trip with you guys, they told us the best move would be to bring security for ourselves. But we talked to each other about it, and decided that we didn’t want to disrupt the family trip with security. All of that to say, there is a very good chance the entire family will be in some kind of tabloid tomorrow, because,” he says, and then trails off.
“Because he is famous, and he is dating someone who is not famous, so that makes the situation much more interesting to the public. And we’ve both noticed that there have been fans taking pictures of us all day. I’m used to it by now, but we wanted to tell you guys because you’re not used to it yet. Now, since we spent most of the day separated there’s a good chance that not many people have put together that you’re my family yet, but they still might have.”
“Oh honey. That doesn't matter to us,” your mother says. “If we were worried about being in tabloids we wouldn’t have invited Austin to come with us.”
“Thank you, Lisa. It means a lot that you invited me to come with you,” Austin says, and then leans down and kisses the top of your head.
You and your sister Ella walk away from your family to get in line for a snack, and you half listen to her as you watch Austin and your mother interact with each other.
“Hello? Are you listening to me?”
“Oh uh. Sorry. I wasn’t. Hey, look at Mom and Austin. Does it look like they’re talking about something serious?” you ask Ella as you get up to the counter. “Hi, a churro and a soft pretzel please,” you tell the man at the counter, and scan your magic band before stepping away from the counter and looking back at her. “So, what do you think they’re talking about?” you ask again.
“Oh. I’m sure it's just more about the article that might come out. Don’t worry about it. You’ve done everything you can,” Ella responds, but you can tell that she’s not sure that is all it is.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“Hey Aus?” you say as you stand in the bathroom of the hotel room finishing up your skincare routine.
“Yeah darlin’?” he responds, pausing his scrolling through the channels of the tv to give his full attention to you..
“Do you wish we would have taken the offer from your manager and brought some kind of security with us?” you ask as you flick off the light in the bathroom and head towards him, joining him on the bed.
“Why do you ask that?” he asks, wrapping his arm around you and pulling you into him.
“Because there were a lot of people ‘secretly’ taking pictures of us today, and I know that you hate when that happens, because you like to have private moments,” you respond, looking up at his face, trying to gauge what you think his response will be.
“No,” he says after a moment of consideration. “No, I don’t wish we brought security with us. I honestly think that bringing security would have made it worse, because I would have been even more noticeable due to the security surrounding me,” he explains, and then looks down at you from his angle, he can see the compilation in your eyes. “Do you wish we had?”
“No. Not now that you’ve said that it would be worse. When I thought it would have been better with security I thought maybe we should have, but if it would have made it worse I’m glad we didn’t. Besides, so what if we’re in Daily Mail or something just for coming to Disney World with my family. There’s nothing scandalous about it.”
“No there isn’t,” he says in agreement, leaning down to press a kiss on the top of your head.
“You only bought our tickets and paid for our hotel room. My parents bought their own and the rest of the families. We didn’t come for free. You know what, I’m actually looking forward to seeing if Daily Mail tries to spin this into something scandalous in the morning,” you say with a slight chuckle. Austin lightly laughs next to you, and then reaches for his phone, still laughing. “What are you doing?”
“I’m texting my manager and main PR person and telling them that my comment on anything about this trip is ‘nothing scandalous happening here, just a family vacation with my girlfriend’s family,” he says, still chuckling as he laughs.
“No you aren’t,” you exclaim, reaching over and trying to take his phone from him. He laughs and shakes his head.
“No, I’m not. I’m telling them to say I have no comment, because I don’t,” he says, before pausing so he can finish his message and send it out. “There, it’s sent. Now, can we please get some sleep, if I remember right, we have to get up early in the morning to get to Animal Kingdom before rope drop because your family got breakfast renovations at that one restaurant there,” he says, setting his phone down on the bedside table and turning off the lamp, before pulling you into him.
“Yeah, they did,” you respond, and settle into your spot next to him. “I love you,” you whisper as you close your eyes.
“I love you darlin’,” he says in response, and then the two of you fall into a peaceful slumber.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
When you wake in the morning, it isn’t because of your alarms, but because your phone is buzzing incessantly. You notice that Austin’s is as well, but reach for yours because it’s buzzing due to a phone call.
“Hello,” you mumble into the phone as you click the speaker button, still half asleep and too tired to lift the phone to your ear.
“Y/N,” you hear James, Austin’s manager respond.
“What James?” you ask, slightly more awake now, and reach out to shake Austin awake.
“I’m sorry to wake you, but Austin wasn’t answering his phone.”
“Because we were asleep,” Austin says as he wakes up, and reaches out his hand to take your phone from you. You hand it to him, and curl back into him closing your eyes to listen as he talks on the phone.
“Yeah, I’m sorry about that. But, you were right. There were a few articles uploaded, and a couple of them have reached out for comment. Do you really not want to leave one?”
“What is there to say James? That I’m on vacation with my girlfriend and her family? Because that’s all there is.”
“Well, one of the outlets speculated that maybe you were on this trip with her family because you might propose,” James says, and Austin sighs heavily, and looks down at your sleeping form.
“Even if I was, and I’m not saying yes or no because it would be a surprise if I was, it isn’t any of their business. When I want to let people know, they will. Until then, this is my life.”
“Okay, I understand man. Also, at least one of the outlets is waiting to possibly get more pictures before they post anything. Chances are that they’re waiting for pictures to emerge of you two with her family. If that’s the case, you should probably warn her family.”
“James,” you interrupt from where you lay beside Austin. “We warned my family the moment we started dating. And again right before we left for this trip.They know what to expect.”
“Okay that sounds like you covered it. So I’ll probably call you later with more info, if anyone decides to post anything else today.”
“Okay. That’s fine I guess. Thanks for calling,” he says, and then hangs up, and hands you back your phone.
“Ugh. The alarm is going to go off in 20 minutes. That’s not enough time to go back to sleep,” you groan as you set the phone down and then turn back to Austin and bury your face in his chest.
“One of us could go take a shower,” he suggests, and laughs as you shake your head, while still being buried in his chest. “Or, we could stay here. Or, and I really think you should consider this one,” he says with a small laugh, and pauses for effect before continuing. “We could go get in the shower together. That way we save the hotel some water. And since we’re up early we have the time,” he says, and then feels you laugh into his chest.
“Fine. But let me change the alarms so that we can make sure we’re out in time to meet up with my family,” you say, and sit up, grabbing your phone, before standing and heading towards the bathroom, stopping to turn around when you get to the doorway. “Aus, why did James mention something about proposing? It’s not something we’ve even talked about before.”
“He’s my manager. He has to think about every angle that a journalist could take,” he says as he stands up.
You nod and then say, “Well, are you coming?”
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“Goodmorning,” you say as you step down the last step and stand in front of your family, Austin coming down right behind you.
“Morning,” your mom says, with a glint of a smile on her face as silently checks her watch and then looks up at you. “I was beginning to think you wouldn't make it on time.”
“Mom, I’m nothing if not punctual. Of course we were going to make it on time.”
“Trust me, Laura. She’s trained me well. I haven’t been late to anything since we got together,” Austin says, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. Everyone chuckles, and then you all start walking towards the bus stop. You all walk make small talk with each other, when suddenly your brother speaks up.
“Wait, is no one going to comment on the fact that Y/N and Austin’s hair were both dripping wet when they came down the stairs?” he says, and you start to blush as everyone else in your family laughs wholeheartedly, including Austin.
“Shut up,” you mumble, turning to bury your face in Austin’s chest.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“Okay that food was amazing,” you say as you walk out of the restaurant with your family. “What are we doing next?”
“I think,” your mom says, pulling out her phone and looking at the park app. “Yeah, I thought right. We have Genie watchamacaillits for Everest.”
“All together at the same time?” you ask, wanting to clarify, especially since you had spent the day before basically completely separate from your family.
“Yep. At least for Everest. And then we all get to split up until the Lion King at 6,” she says, and then the family starts walking in the direction of the ride, making small talk the whole time. Not long after you start walking, Austin’s phone starts to ring. You watch him roll his eyes when he reads the caller ID.
“I’ll be right back,” he mutters to you, and kisses you on the forehead, before swiping to answer the call and stepping away.
“Where’s he going?” your sister, Ella, asks as he steps away.
“I think it was James again. He called at like 6 this morning to talk about the articles that the press had released after receiving pictures of him here with us yesterday. Well, I guess me. You guys weren’t really mentioned. Yet. Can we pause for a second?” you ask, a bit louder than you had been, so you could get the attention of the family. “I need to tell you guys something,” you say when you get your entire families attention. They all nod, and your mother tells you to go ahead, so you start. “This morning, we got a call from James, Austin’s manager,” you start, and then explain the entire situation. “Now, I don’t think that anything bad will be posted about any of you. I think it is more likely that these outlets are just drawing attention to Austin, because they know it will gain their site some more visitors. But Austin is currently on the phone with James, and James is probably telling him that there are pictures of all of us at breakfast or on the bus this morning that are beginning to circulate the internet.”
“That doesn’t matter to us,” your stepfather says from his position next to your mother.
“That’s good,” Austin says as he steps right up next to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. “Because that is exactly what James just said. Just some pictures of all of us at breakfast and on the bus this morning. I think he said the title of the article was going to be something like ‘Butler getting close with the in-laws’ or something like that.”
“Oh that’s not bad at all,” your mother says, and everyone else nods in agreement.
“Okay. I’m glad none of you are upset,” you say, and then look at the time on your watch. “Oh, we should probably get to the ride before we miss our time frame.”
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“Hey, I’m kinda hungry,” you say to Austin as you walk away from Flight of Passage.
“Okay. How hungry is ‘kinda hungry’?” he asks, knowing from experience how quickly your mood can change based on hunger.
“Um… like five minutes from the beginning stages of hangry,” you say in response, and Austin laughs and looks around.
“There’s a food stand right over here,” he says, and the two of you walk towards it. A few minutes later you’re holding a soft pretzel and he’s holding a dole whip. You sit down on a bench and eat, just looking at your surroundings.
“Aus?” you say as you take a spoonful of dole whip.
“Yes darlin’?”
“I love you. I’m so glad I bumped into you that one day. And that you saw more than just a college student.”
“I love you too,” he says, and leans down and gently turns your head to face him, before placing a gentle kiss on your lips.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“Ooh that show was so good,” Ella says as the family walks out of the building the Lion King was held in.
“I know it was!” you say, and then look at your mom. “What are we doing next?”
“Well, I think Brad and I were going to head back to the room. We aren’t as young as we once were. What about you?” she asks your siblings.
“Um,” your brother, Leo, starts. “I think the three of us,” he says, pointing to your sister and other brother, Ella and Blaine, “were going to go on a few more rides around here. Maybe stay til close.” You and your mother nod in understanding, and then you turn to Austin.
“Do you wanna go to the movies in Disney Springs? I think the Little Mermaid is showing.”
“Yeah, that sounds good to me honey,” he says, and you lift your joined hands up and kiss his hand.
“Okay, let’s get on the bus back with Mom and Brad. Then we can take the ferry thing over to Disney Springs,” you say, and then the two of you and your parents walk over to the buses.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“Wake up! It’s the last day!” you say as you jump on the bed after exiting the bathroom, somehow managing to shower and get dressed without waking Austin up.
“I’m up,” he mumbles, and then grabs you and makes you topple on top of him.
“This is not getting up,” you say in between laughs, laughing as Austin kisses up and down your neck.
“I know but this feels like the better plan,” he says, not stopping his attack on your neck.
“Fine. Five minutes, and that’s only because I’m ready to go already,” you say, and stop trying to fight back, instead just relaxing in Austin’s arms.
“I can’t believe we’ve been here for a week already,” he says as he stops attacking you and just rests his head on yours.
“I know. Our week of magic is nearly over. And then it’s back to the real world.”
“Hunny, you don’t go back to school for another month and a half. And I still have time off before press for Dune starts. It’s not like after this trip we won’t be seeing each other. Plus, we live together now. Like it or not you’re stuck with me.”
“I love that I’m stuck with you. It makes me happy,” you respond, and then lay there in his arms silently. “Okay,” you say after a few minutes pass. “Your five minutes are up. Get up and get moving. We have a day full of park hopping in front of us!”
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“Okay, c’mon. We have to meet my family in front of the castle for our last pictures!” you exclaim as you and Austin make it into Magic Kingdom, the last park you’re going to today. You hadn’t seen your family since breakfast at the hotel, and you were excited to take the last pictures in front of the castle and watch the fireworks with them. Tomorrow they would head back to Y/H/S and you and Austin would head back to California.
“Where are they?” you ask as you make it to the private spot you and Austin had arranged to watch the fireworks with your family at.
“I’m sure they’ll be here soon darlin’” Austin says from where he stands next to you.
“Um okay. We can just wait here then,” you say, and continue to look around, not spotting your family. Austin fights a laugh as he sees your family standing slightly hidden behind a hedge, noticing that your sister and mother both have their phones out and are obviously recording.
“They better get here soon,” you mumble, still not super happy that they aren’t on time. “The fireworks are going to start any minute.” You stand silently for a minute, looking up at the sky. You look up in awe as the fireworks begin going off.
“Y/N,” you vaguely hear Austin say as the fireworks boom in your ears. You hum, not looking away from the sky, until you feel a tug on your hand. “Y/N, look at me,” he says, and you turn and look. A gasp comes out of your mouth as you realize the man you love is down on one knee in front of you.
“Y/N, we’ve been together for two years now, and they’ve been the happiest years of my life. I can’t imagine a life without you in it, and I am so glad to have you here with me everyday. We both have struggles in our life,” he says, and takes your hand in his. “But together we keep them from letting them tear our lives apart. I am thankful to have you by my side for any little thing that happens, from getting cast, to losing people, and random little trips wherever we want to go whenever we have the time. Life without you would be unbearable. Will you marry me?”
Your eyes well over with tears, and you nod, unable to catch your breath.
“Yes?” he asks, still kneeling.
“Yes,” you whisper, and he stands and pulls you in for a kiss. You laugh and smile into the kiss, completely unaware of the claps and cheers coming from behind you. When you pull away from him he slips the ring he had been holding onto your finger, and then motions behind you for people to come in. The next thing you know your family is smothering the two of you in a giant group hug. When you all pull away you look at your mom, and see tears streaming down her face as well.
“Mom, I’m engaged,” you say in a sort of whisper, and she just nods and pulls you into her. When you pull away you immediately get pulled into a hug with Ella and your brothers.
“The first one to get married,” Ella says when you pull away, and you and your brothers laugh.
〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️
“I never expected you to propose here,” you whisper into Austins chest as you lay in bed a few hours later.
“Really?” he asks with a slight chuckle.
“Really,” you respond, also slightly laughing. “I expected you to propose in our living room honestly. I don’t really know why, I just did. I think maybe it was because we’re always trying to avoid paparazzi or cameras, so to me it just made the most sense for you to propose at home, away from the spotlight.”
“I thought about doing it at home as well,” he says, running his hand through your hair. “But, then I decided that I didn’t really care. You deserve pizazz and a big extravagant thing. So, I planned this. The Disney trip was your mother’s idea, but as soon as I was invited I called her and asked if she would be okay with me hijacking the last nigh,” he explains.
“I really hope you actually said “hijacking” to her. She would love that,” you say, laughing.
“Oh, I really did. And she laughed really hard. And then told me that as long as she could watch it happen she didn’t care.” You both laugh, and then fall silent for a few moments. You run your hand back and forth across his chest, as he continues to run his hand through your hair.
You both start to fall asleep, and the last thing you whisper is, “We’re getting married.”

Oscars 2022
Best Male Actor.
Austin Butler – Elvis.
Colin Farrell – The Banshees of Inisherin.
Brendan Fraser – The Whale.
Paul Mescal – Aftersun.
Bill Nighy – Living.
WILL WIN: Austin Butler. Anybody who can keep his feet in a Baz Luhrmann film deserves an award. Add to that an actor playing the most imitated singer in history (in, believe it or not, the King’s first serious biopic) without even a hint of impersonator cliche and you might as well have the award gift-wrapped.
SHOULD WIN: Paul Mescal. I’ll make another bold prediction: No way in hell will Paul Mescal see what the audience looks like from the stage. Which is too bad because his performance as a perfect dad who is slowly falling apart is the most subtly moving of the year. Wait til next year or the year after that. He’ll be around for a while.
SHOULDA BEEN NOMINATED: Mark Rylance in The Outfit. As a tailor who turns a blind eye to his mostly gangster clientele until it threatens him. Rylance is so quietly ordinary that it takes a while to discover his Polonius is really Iago. It’s in a movie that almost nobody saw but it might be his best.

I’m Not Angry Anymore
Rating: General Audiences
Pairing: Yagi Toshinori x Daughter!Reader
Warning(s): Shitty Parenting, Angst, Some Strong Language, (Kinda) Child Abandonment
Song: Interlude: I’m Not Angry Anymore by Paramore
Note: This is a counterpart to @kozumeizuku ‘s Twisted
“(Y/N), I’d like for you to meet Midoriya Izuku.” Your father gestured to a 4 year old with freckles and curly green hair. He looked nervous. You walked up to him with a big toothy grin on your face and held your hand out to him,
“Hi, ‘Zuku! I’m (Y/N)!” Your smile didn’t waver as you saw him creep back a little bit.
Your dad pat your head, “Midoriya here is a little shy. His classmates are not very nice to him because he’s quirkless.” You nodded your head in understanding, releasing a small “oh.”
You took a step back from the boy, “I’m sorry your classmates are meanies, Zuku. I like you, though, so don’t listen to them!”
That’s when it all started, you remember. You started to see your dad less and less after you met Midoriya Izuku. At the time, you didn’t understand why, but as you got older it became clear. The blond adult was spending time with Midoriya, training him and being a father figure to him. He used to do that with you, but you’d been replaced. 12 years later and now the two of you were strangers.
You ran up to your father when he got inside the house, a drawing in your hands. You’d drawn him and you wanted to surprise him with it. “Daddy, look!” You hadn’t even pulled the picture out from behind your back when he stopped you.
“I’m sorry, baby, but I’m about to head back out. I’ll look at it later, okay?” He ruffled your (h/c) hair and gave you one of his big smiles. You nodded sadly. You’d really wanted to show it to him right then. You whispered a soft “okay” before turning around and going to the kitchen. Normally you weren’t allowed in there and you had to ask your live-in nanny or your father to get you what you wanted but you didn’t feel like asking.
You put your drawing on top of the table used for prepping food and walked up to the fridge. That’s where you saw it -- a crude drawing of your father signed “Izuku”. In a flash of anger you grabbed your own drawing and ripped it up into tiny pieces. “(Y/N), (Y/N)! What wrong, sweetheart?” Your nanny, Saki, walked in on you in the middle of your tantrum. You wailed and held your arms out to her and she scooped you up into her comforting arms. She looked down at your ruined drawing and at the one on the fridge. Oh, she would be having a word with your father when she saw him next.
11 years had passed and you still remembered that moment. If you remembered correctly, that was the last time you’d drawn him something.
“Oh, darling, I’m sure he’s just running a little late.” “He must be stuck in traffic.” “Don’t you worry your sweet little head, he’ll be here.” “You know what your daddy says, don’t you? I am here! And he will be, alright?”
That’d been hours ago. The cooks, the maid, the butler, the nanny -- they’d all assured you that your father would make good on his promise. He’d promised to spend the day with you -- to go see a movie and get lunch. That was at 10:00 AM, it was now 6:00 PM.
You sat at the table in the kitchen, lazily moving the spoon in your chicken noodle soup around. It’d long since gotten cold. “Would you like me to heat it back up for you, little lady?” One of the cooks asked you. Mr. Yuji was nice -- he always slipped you snacks while the others weren’t looking. He’d been here since before you were born. He was wrinkly and his hair had thinned out with age. He was like a grandpa to you. “Or do you want something else?”
You pushed the bowl over to him, “No...‘m not really hungry.” You folded your arms on the table and rested the side of your head on them. Mr. Yuji put a hand to your forehead, checking your temperature.
“Your temperature seems normal. Are you sure you’re not hungry, missy?” He smoothed back your hair. You nodded silently. You were tired, sad, and disappointed. It ruined your appetite. He took the bowl off the table and poured its contents out into the sink, “Alright, well if you get hungry in the middle of the night, let me know. I’ll make you something.”
“M’kay.”
The swinging door to the kitchen opened but you didn’t bother to look at who it was. You recognized your father’s heavy footsteps, “Hey, baby. What are you...doing?” Before he could finish speaking, you hopped down from the bar stool, walked around him, and left the kitchen. As you walked away, you could hear him ask Mr. Yuji something. “Is she okay?”
You think that was when you’d stopped asking to spend time with your father. 7 years had passed and you could still feel the emotions your 11 year old self had gone through that day.
Your fists were clenched, your face towards the ceiling, and your lips pressed into a thin line. You were fighting back tears. You were tired. You were tired of this. You were tired of broken promises. You were tired of being second best. It was your 16th birthday, and your father missed it because of him. “What’s the matter, sweetie?” Your father had the nerve to ask. You clenched your jaw.
“What’s wrong?” You copied. “What’s wrong?!” You looked at him, the hot tears already running at a steady pace down your cheeks. “What’s wrong is that you missed my fucking birthday! Again! That’s 10 years in a fucking row!” You snarled. You didn’t care if you were acting like a spoiled brat.
He stood there in shock. You wiped your tears on your forearm, “What I want to know is why -- why didn’t you show up like you promised?” You had given up on him. All you wanted was a reason why. You already knew but you wanted him to say it.
“It’s Young Midoriya’s--” You cut him off with a laugh. A completely and utterly, joyless laugh.
“Just as I thought.” You scoffed. You pulled out a chair from the dining room table and plopped down on it. You were exhausted and numb, “Midoriya this, Midoriya that. It’s always about Midoriya.” You wondered if your father even knew what he was doing to you. He probably didn’t, he was so oblivious when it came to his own child.
Your father -- the oh so wonderful All Might -- walked up and took the seat next to you. “That’s not true and you know it, (Y/N).”
“That’s bullshit and you know it.” You turned in your seat to face him. “Tell me, Dad, when was the last time we spent my birthday together?”
“Well, um--” He stuttered.
“Last meal we had together? Last time you showed up to one of my award ceremonies? Last time we spent time together? Last time we had a real conversation?” You asked question after question, knowing he wouldn’t have the answer to any of them.
“(Y/N), that’s not fair--” “I’m not trying to be!”
Silence.
“When was the last time you told me you loved me?” Your voice cracked. The blond didn’t say a word. You sighed and stood up from your seat, “I’m moving out tomorrow. Don’t try to stop me -- I’ve already made up my mind.”
That was 2 years ago and you hadn’t talked with your father since.
A knock came at your door. It must’ve been one of your classmates asking for your notes again. You got up from your desk and opened the door without a second thought. “I’m not giving you my...notes. Oh, it’s you.” Standing in front of you was your father’s successor — Midoriya Izuku. You hadn’t seen much of him since your childhood.
He rubbed the back of his neck, “Can...can I come in?” You stepped aside and held the door open for him. He awkwardly stepped past you and stood around the middle of your room. “Your room. It’s nice.” Izuku complimented.
“It’s alright, I guess.” You shrugged. You had a platform bed with lots of pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals on it. A bean bag chair sat next to it. Your walls were white but there were so many posters and pictures on them you could barely see the paint anyways. Fairy lights were strung up around the room and LED clouds were hanging from your ceiling. There was a bookcase filled with, well, books. Next it was your desk — it was normal but there were knick knacks, notebooks, and too many pens spread across it.
“No, no — it’s really cool. It’s a lot more cool than my room.” He assured you. You hummed. You didn’t really need to guess what his dorm room was like.
You put your hand on your hip, “Let me guess, yours is covered top to bottom, wall to wall in my dad’s merchandise. Is that right?” A blush erupted on the younger teens face. You’d hit the nail right on the head. You laughed and clapped his shoulder. “It’s nothing to be ashamed about. You really admire him, don’t you?” You smiled.
He was nervous, you could tell. “Yeah, I guess so.” He looked away from you.
“Alright, have a seat. There’s obviously something you want to talk to me about.” You plopped down on the bean bag chair next to your bed.
Izuku sat down at your desk. “I wanted to talk to you about All Might.” He stated. You hummed and nodded your head — as to be expected.
“I honestly don’t know much about him, Izuku.” You told the truth. “He’s never really been around much for me.” Izuku cringed at your statement.
“That’s what I wanted to talk about with you.” He ruffled his own hair.
“If you’re about to apologize, don’t.”
“What?” Izuku’s green eyes met your (e/c) ones for the first time since he’s been here. “I-I don’t understand. I’m the reason he-“
“I’m going to stop you right there, Izuku.” You shift around in your bean bag. “Everything he did, was in no way your fault. They were his choices to make and he chose you over me, time and time again.” You said bluntly. “But that wasn’t your fault. Sure, for a time I did resent you but as I got older, I came to realize you had no say in how he treated me. You were just a kid and so was I. I know how much you admire him but it’s the truth when I say he’s the one at fault here. You don’t have to apologize for his actions.” You got up and walked up to him. You ruffled his hair, “I never once blamed you, Midoriya Izuku.”
Tears welled up in the curly haired teen’s virus in eyes but he quickly started to rub them away. “Geez, you’ve always been such a crybaby. I thought you would’ve grown out of that already.” You jokingly pushed his head. You’d always thought of him as a younger brother, even when you hated his guts as a child.
“Sorry, I just…” He sniffled. “I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.” You wish you’d known he was carrying all this guilt sooner — you could’ve already relieved him of the burden.
“It’s alright. I understand.”
That was a few months ago. Talking with Izuku like that, it really did help you understand why your relationship with All Might is the way it is.
“Have you talked with your father recently?” Your therapist asked after you finished recounting your childhood with her. She’d needed an updated version now that you were 18.
You shook your head, “No, but he did leave me a voicemail the other day — he asked how I was doing, talked about how he was proud of my grades, told me to make sure I eat and drink enough water.” You appreciated that he was trying, but you weren’t ready to make amends with him.
“Did you call him back?”
“No. I don’t think I’m ready to talk to him just yet. Only recently had I accepted what he’d done.” You explained to her.
She nodded, “That’s alright. It’s all a part of the process. You’ll be ready eventually, and when you do, you’ll be one step closer to leave this all behind you.” You hummed your agreement.
“Have you seen or heard anything from your brother recently?”
“You sound just like the police.” You laughed.

A bit very awkward, but nice
Guess we know where Blake got it from
Taught his daughter how to be a rebel
Maybe a little too well
Don’t mess with his family
He will apologize to the guys trying to kill him but if you mess with his family you are dead
The definition of ‘looks like they could kill you, is really a cinnamon roll’
Adam is really lucky he and Kali didn’t get their hands on him before Yang did
Gives his depressed daughter the unconditional love and support she needs
Pietro Polendina
Tumblr media
yet another great single dad
RWBY has a lot of those, doesn’t it?
Loves his daughter and wants to protect her despite her being a badass robot who can usually handle herself
Literally sacrifice a part of his soul for his daughter
Twice
And maybe three times…we’ll have to see
Lie Ren the first
Tumblr media
Sacrificed himself to save his son
Is probably a great dad but we barely see any of that because he dies
Ilia’s dad
Did dangerous and hard work to give his daughter a chance of a better life
Again, he’s dead so we don’t know much about him
Taiyang
Tumblr media
Supportive dad
Taught his daughters how to fight as soon as they could walk
Will not stop with the dad jokes
He did sorta neglect his daughters after the death of his wife. He was obviously going through a lot, but this still keep him from being the best RWBY dad
Qrow
Tumblr media
technically more of a crazy uncle
Is really good with kids despite being…well, Qrow
Taught Ruby everything she needed to know about wielding the most dangerous weapon in remnant without her losing any of her limbs
Taught both girls how to be video game champs
Is generally great
But did go into a depressive episode during season 7 and hit Oscar
So still not the best RWBY dad
Rhodes
Tumblr media
Let abused kid stay in abusive situation
She was literally being tortured and he did nothing about it
Tried to captured her when she finally snapped and killed abusive caretakers
Could of honestly done anything other then what he did and Cinder would have turned out very different
Jaques Schnee
Tumblr media
A snake with a mustache
Emotionally and mentally abusive
A bit physically abusive too
Gave all his kids serious issues
Is just generally a horrible dad in nearly every way
But somehow not the worst
This beautiful gif was made by Dragon lord the king of dragon on animo btw
Ironwood
Tumblr media
Oh boy, this will make the fanboys mad
Gave Winter a decent father figure that she desperately needed, and encouraged her to spend more time with her sister
Didn’t let Jaques get away with treating her or Weiss like trash while he was around.
But on the flip side
Tried to murder her
As soon as she disobeyed him
So…yeah.
At least Jaques never tried to kill any of his kids
Marcus:
Wins the worse dad award easily, which is pretty impressive
Heck, wins the worst parent award
He’s worst then Salem!
Abused and tortured Mercury for 15 years
Then tried to kill him
Yup, we have a winner here folks

Part 1 Part 3
Chapter Two
Rowena POV
"David, I can't wear this!" I complained on the phone. I held up the dress again. "It's just too much, too revealing."
It was a simple white silk floor-length skirt, but the top of the dress was two long vertical pieces of silk, barely wide enough to cover my breasts, which crossed at the back before wrapping around my waist and tied in a bow on my lower back. There was no way I could wear a bra. It would only take a slight wrong move, and there would be an embarrassing nipple slip.
"Yes, you can," my brother said. "Lawrence had it made for you to wear as a gift. He wants to meet you and make a good impression." Lawrence was David's partner, they had been together for over a year, but I was yet to met him. Lawrence and David seemed to travel together an awful lot, so it had been challenging to find time for us to get together.
"Have you seen it?" I asked.
"Of course," David replied. I was surprised. David was my older brother and had always been a little protective of me, especially since our parents died when I was 15 and he was 20. Maybe he had finally let that go considering I was now 26.
"You know I'd never wear something like that. It's gorgeous, but it's too revealing for me."
"Rowena, it's Halloween. It's an excuse for excess." I rolled my eyes. For David, being a day that ended in 'y' was an excuse for excess.
"Why does your boyfriend want to see me in this?" It just seemed over the top for a party. I gathered that Lawrence was wealthy, but still, it's just a Halloween party.
"Because he wants you to fit in. Honestly, you'll stick out less wearing that than anything else. Besides, no one knows you there, and you'll have a mask. Just pretend you're someone else."
I grumbled. "What time did Lawrence say the stylist was coming?"
Although I couldn't see him, I could hear David's victorious smile through the phone. "At six pm. The driver will be there at eight."
"That seems late, David," I said. "I won't arrive until nearly nine."
"I know, but that is Lawrence's style."
"Promise you won't leave me alone." I wasn't afraid of being alone at parties usually but by the sounds of this one, the dress and the fact that I was having my hair and makeup done professionally made it feel like a big deal.
"Lawrence and I will take good care of you," David promised.
I said my goodbyes and hung up the phone.
Feeling only a little more confident after the phone call, I jumped in the shower, washed my hair, and shaved my legs for the first time in weeks. I put on a robe and slippers and went up to the main house to see Charlie since I had half an hour to kill before the stylist arrived.
Charlie was staying there tonight with Alice while I went out. He had his own room and often slept there now that he was getting older and wanted space from me. Charlie and I mostly ate our meals up at the house and just kept basics in our two-bedroom flat above the old stables.
Charlie and Alice were sitting together at the dining table, playing with a random assortment of lego pieces. "Hey, Mum. I made this for you." Charlie handed me a flower made from the blocks. He was such a sweetheart of a boy.
"Awww, thanks, Babybear. I love it." I kissed the top of his head and sat with them.
"I thought you had to get ready for tonight," Alice asked.
"I have an hour," I replied.
"You're still going, aren't you?" Alice asked. She seemed more eager for me to go than I was. Alice was Charlie's paternal grandmother. Charlie's dad, Alex, had been my boyfriend when I was 17. Despite being on the pill, I fell pregnant, and Alex tried to pressure me into an abortion and refused to be a part of his life. Alice had been horrified by the way Alex had treated me. In an unexpected turn of events, she had stepped in to help raise Charlie. Charlie rarely saw Alex, but Alice saw that we both wanted nothing. The woman was a saint.
"Yeah," I said reluctantly.
"It'll be good for you," Alice said, squeezing my hand.
"I know." I sighed.
"Charlie, go get Nanny a glass of water, please. My throat is feeling dry," Alice said. She had something to say to me outside of Charlie's ears. Being a kind and helpful kid, Charlie immediately got up and went to get her one. He made me so proud.
As soon as he left the room, Alice said, "Rowena, don't feel guilty getting out there again."
"How can you say that?" I asked. I had tried dating a few times over the years. It always ended disastrously. Always my fault too. I had developed severe commitment issues.
"Charlie is my grandson, and I want his mother to be happy. Not lonely and depressed. It would be best if you had a life beyond Charlie. I've been telling you that for years."
Charlie came back with a book, and Alice read to him. As mothers often are, I was struck by how handsome my little boy was. His blonde sun-bleached hair and deep brown eyes were framed by a face that had lost nearly all of its childhood fat. At nine years old, he was almost as tall as me already, and he would probably take after his father in that regard. In fact, his eyes were the only thing that came from my side of the family as they were the same colour as David's and my Dad's. Charlie looked so much like his father, sometimes it hurts to look at him.
Kissing him again, on the cheek this time, I said goodbye to Charlie, told him to be a good boy for Nanny and went back to our flat above the garage.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I arrived at Lawrence's house not long after the sun had set. House was probably too humble a word to describe it. It was a borderline castle. I had thought Alice's family was wealthy, but this was another level. It was like something out of the Great Gatsby.
The car drove around the circular driveway and pulled up near the front door. A valet opened the car door, and he escorted me into the house, where he told my name to a butler who asked me to follow him.
Looking around the room, I was grateful to David for insisting I wear the dress. Everybody was dressed like it was a Hollywood awards show, and I mean everybody. Not to mention they all looked like actors or models. I had never in my life been around so many beautiful people. And I don't mean just beautiful because they were thin. There were people of all shapes and sizes, but everyone moved with grace and ethereal ease. They seemed so other.
This was crazy. Who the hell was my brother mixed up with? This whole night must have cost a fortune. Beyond a fortune! All for a Halloween party?
I was led from room to room, the house full of beautiful creatures. More than that, the house was decorated in a way that would put Versailles to shame. The decadence of the furnishings was lush and rich. Every piece seemed to be a precious antique but shone like it was brand new. Gold leaf decorated the cornices, and priceless framed artworks, tapestries and mirrors filled every wall. Even the wooden floor was an intricate parquetry design that appears to have taken years to lay.
At first, I thought I imagined it, but I noticed that everybody stared at me as I moved through each room. I felt heat rush to my cheeks. Did I look so different from everyone else? I supposed I did, but the eyes following me made me thankful for the mask.
After what seemed like hours but couldn't have been, I was taken to a large hall and presented. Yes, presented. What the fuck?
My escort stopped outside the room and spoke to a man standing just inside the door. The man rapped his cane on the floor three times and thundered, "Rowena, sister of David, Inamorato of Duke Lawrence." An eerie silence fell as every face turned to me. Some even bowed their heads. What on earth was going on?
"Rowena!" David was at my side, clutching my hands to his chest. "I've missed you so." He leaned over and kissed both my cheeks. Everybody in the room seemed to return to normal, and sounds of chatter resumed. David was wearing a mask and wore an elegant dark grey suit. He looked so different. David has always been handsome, but he looked so unlike his usual self, and I couldn't pinpoint the difference. I didn't even have the words to describe the change. I know it had been months since we had seen each other, but it wasn't that he had lost weight or gained muscle. What I could see of his face was inconsistent with my memories of him. Then I saw his eyes.
"David, what the..." David cut me off and embraced me. His smell was mouth-watering, and I wondered what cologne he was wearing. He had never smelt like that before.
"Come, meet Lawrence!" David exclaimed, gripping my hand tightly. Maybe he had put on muscle because he was stronger than I remembered.
David lead me further into the room. I followed, but my head was spinning. Why did everything look so beautiful but feel so... unreal?
"Lawrence, my love, this is Rowena," David said.
The man who sat before me took my breath away. I had no word to describe him other than impressive. He wasn't tall or large, but he seemed to take up all the space in the room as if by looking at him, your eyes couldn't see anything else. His skin was like a midnight sky lit up by the moon, which seemed to reflect the light as it was so smooth, flawless and radiant. His hair bounced with large curls, and although it was dark too, it seemed to shine with its own light.
As Lawrence stood, his movements were so polished they almost had a serpentine grace. His white lace mask framed his eyes, black with a red rim around the pupil, just like David's. Lawrence came towards me, and I was captivated, struck immobile by the force of his presence. Then all of a sudden, the fear left me as though it was never there. I sucked in air, not realising I hadn't taken a breath since I laid eyes on him.
Lawrence grasped my hands to his chest, just like my brother had. "Oh David, she is lovely, isn't she?" He lifted my hands to his lips and kissed both of them before lifting my arms wide and inspecting me. "She does look luscious in this dress. I do have excellent taste, do I not?"
I looked to David, who was beaming proudly like he had passed a test by bringing me here and meeting Lawrence's approval. Stunned, I looked again at David's smile. Something was wrong with it.
Lawrence was still talking, "You were right that she would be a hard one to crack. She seems to see many things others don't. Including you, by the way." David laughed at Lawrence's observation.
I tried to speak, to ask again what was going on, but nothing came out. I kept trying to breathe but I felt suffocated. The more I tried, the less air seemed to come in.
David grabbed my shoulders and caught my gaze. His voice was solid and musical, and the force of his words almost made me fall. "Rowena, it's alright. You can breathe." And all at once, I could.
"This dress is too tight." I managed to say.
"Nonsense," Lawrence said dismissively, "it's perfect. He is going to love it."
"He?" I questioned.
Lawrence sighed and glanced at David. They looked at each other for a few moments, then David took me by the arm and led me to a cluster of sofas. "Come, sister, sit with me and let's catch up."
Even the way he spoke seemed to change. It can't have been that long since I'd seen him. I thought back and realised I hadn't seen him in about two years. We occasionally spoke on the phone, but years had passed since I had physically seen him.
Lawrence left us mingled around the room, which I saw now was a ballroom. Some people danced, some drank wine, and others socialised. Something was wrong with all of it, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
David started to talk to me, asked me about little Charlie. I went to get my phone to show him some pictures and realised I must have left my bag in the limo. Before I could tell David that, he said, "never mind, the driver works for Lawrence. He has it. You can get it before you leave."
How did he know where I had left my phone? This was too much. "David, what's going on? There's something wrong here. This place is... off."
I suddenly felt bewildered, like I couldn't concentrate on anything. I felt a curious pull towards the back of the hall. I stood and looked back and started to walk towards the doors. It was like I was trapped in a gravitational pull towards... something. Without warning, a spontaneous feeling of arousal hit me, and my body was on fire. I let out an audible moan. I felt a desperate call come from between my legs to ease the rapidly growing craving. And not just by anyone, by Him. Wait, who was Him?
David held my arm and tried to lead me back, but I wouldn't allow it. I struggled for him to let me go. David was about to say something when another announcement was made, "The Crown Prince, Henry, Son of Alfred, King of all Sanguisuge."
I looked first to David to question what on earth that meant when I caught sight of the Prince.
It's Him.
I felt like I was falling, plummeting to the ground. The floor rushed to meet me, and my vision went dark.
Wedding Dress (Jae x you)
a/n : Should I wait for Jaehyun’s birthday to post this? no. I cannot hold myself back from posting this
so here we go!!
FLUFF... AND A WEDDING PLAN WITH JAEHYUN
enjoy
“That looks perfect on you Jae,” you circle the man who is standing on the small stage in the fitting room.
“Is it? This also feels better.” Jaehyun tries swinging his arm and shrugging his shoulder as he stares his reflection on the fitting room mirror.
“Well good to know! We’ll consider this one then.” You nod to the butler as he takes the measurement of your fiancé.
“So, do you still want to consider mother’s offer?” Jaehyun asks you when both of you exit the tailor’s parlor and walk away to find dinner.
Your wedding with Jaehyun is coming in one month, and you’re busy finalizing the catering, venue, and run down. You cannot blame Jaehyun for his busy idol schedule, you’re too busy handling the final check.
“Yes, I am still down to your mom’s offer. I guess if that works, it’ll be meaningful for both of us.” You clung your hand into Jaehyun’s arm and walk with him to the Metro.
Yes, did you know Jaehyun likes to keep it low. He doesn’t want to drive around the tainted black cars and hiding from fans. Jaehyun loves going out to dates with you in public while still wearing a mask to keep his identity, but it’s working since not a lot of fans notice they have been walking through the same tracks with their idols.
Jaehyun waits calmly with you as you both stand over the waiting line, waiting for the train to Jaehyun’s mother’s house come. You love Jaehyun’s mother because you can find a mother figure in her.
The train arrives and you both step into the half empty carriage. You sit on the corner and Jaehyun takes the place next to you. Your hand still holds into his tightly as if letting him go will make you lost.
“What else do you need to check? I’m free this weekend I can accompany you.” Jaehyun turns his head to face you.
You take your notes out, “Your suit is done, fitting is next week. I’ve decided on our flowers they will be (name) and catering is handled by my sister. We just need to take the rings this weekend.”
Jaehyun ruffles your hair, “Amazing! You did everything by yourself! I really need to treat you to a spa day!”
You groan “Oh yes I need a relaxation me time before the day!” you giggle when you lean into Jaehyun’s shoulder and presses his cheek out of habit.
His ears turn into the deep shade of red despite having that done by you since 5 years ago! 5 years of dating, countless award winning, numerous road trips, and one big courage and finally Jaehyun kneeled on one knee on a trip to France.
He proposed to you over the Eiffel tower and for once you feel like a main character in a romantic movie! La vie en rose, that’s true. You saw life in pink shades, especially when Jaehyun blushed so hard when you say “yes”
You reach the station almost around dinner time. While walking side by side, you stop for a while to buy an ice cream. Jaehyun only waits for you as you place your order and returns with a cone of colorful ice. He helps you bring your bag so you can enjoy your treat while Jaehyun just makes sure you’re not running into a pole or fall into a hole while walk.
“Careful,” he warns you when you almost hit a pole. You grin and offer him a bite “Want some?”
He shakes his head, “Finish it, you look happy and you need energy.”
“Aren’t you hungry?” you ask nonchalantly without knowing you smeared some ice to your lips.
“No, I’ll eat dinner later. Here,” he brings his handkerchief out and wipes your smear away from your face, all while both of you still walk on the less busy road.
You bite your lips and wipe your tongue over your lips “Clean?
Jaehyun chuckles, he loves this side of you. Who is easy going and doesn’t mind looking a bit messy for awhile “Yes, clean!”
“Mom we’re here! (y/n) is going to take your offer.” Jaehyun greets his mother in her house with a kiss.
You walk after Jaehyun and also greets his mother who you’ve known for the last three years.
“(Y/n)! Really? You will try my offer?” she sounds so happy. Her eyes are glowing with stars and she looks like she can cry at any time soon.
You nod your head, “I want to try your wedding dress. I guess if we can just fix the size and everything else, it’ll be meaningful for me and you. Right mom?” you ask her with the name she loves to hear from you.
Jaehyun’s mother hugs you “Yes! Oh gosh I am so happy my only son picks the perfect wife! I can tell I love you already.” She wipes a tear that falls from her eyes.
Jaehyun chuckles as he escapes to the kitchen and puts down some of the foods he bought for his mum.
While you are in the room with Jaehyun’s mom herself, you don’t feel uncomfortable. You never met your mom since young, she passed away on your delivery. Your father is a good and responsible man, he helps you grow into the lady you are right now. You cannot imagine how he will feel later when he walks you down the aisle.
“Should we try it first? I am so excited! Your built was similar to mine, I guess this will look pretty on you.” Jaehyun’s mother pulls you into her dressing room and she begins helping you try on her wedding dress.
You had to admit, Jaehyun’s mom has a good taste. The wedding gown looks simple, but you can tell this was a designer dress and it looks expensive.
“Do you think the model is okay?” she asks, suddenly afraid if you were just doing this for her.
You nod as you hold the dress, “I love this! Not too complex but the simplicity is amazing. Should we try it? I’ve been eating healthier to fit into the dress.” You giggle.
Jaehyun’s mum pinches your cheeks, “You don’t have to! Come, after you try the dress… you have to eat!”
Both of you laugh, you’re glad Jaehyun’s mother loves you like you’re her own daughter. She told you she always wanted a daughter but circumstances were not giving her the chance. Thus when Jaehyun introduced you to his mother on Christmas three years ago two of you clicked. You found her as your mother figure and she found you as her daughter.
You make yourself into the dress, a simple white dress but the tail is long and you’re happy of how you look like in the mirror. You make a twirl, everything fits you even need to cut some inches from the dress, but the length and everything else is perfect.
Jaehyun’s mom stare at your reflection in disbelief, and she walks behind you to tighten the dress.
“Holy- you look exactly like me on my wedding day, maybe I look prettier, but you are stunning!” her humorous side makes you laugh. She holds your clothes as you make a twirl to check on the side profile and a big smile appears on your face.
“Mom, this is perfect! Do you really let me?” you still cannot belief your mother in law is allowing you to wear her wedding dress.
She nods eagerly, “I say you look perfect. We can add some ornaments or laces if you want. Mom doesn’t mind with some alterations.”
You shake your head “We’ll keep it like this! Like yours! I love this, will Jaehyun like it?” you didn’t have to wait because the door opens and Jaehyun’s head comes into the room.
“Wow! That is the dress?” he asks, as he joins you to look at your reflection in the mirror.
“Can you take a picture, I’ll ask dad if he is okay, and we can bring this to the tailor to fix the size.” You point to your hand bag and Jaehyun makes his way to do what you said.
“I am okay with it, looks perfect. Fits to my suit color too.” Jaehyun shows his mom the suit he tried on earlier.
With that the three of you walk to the dining room and have dinner together. The topic is mainly about the wedding preparation and Jaehyun’s schedule. She also asks about your father’s company and your own small business you started from zero.
“Oh yes, my academia for the disadvantaged children is doing good. Jaehyun and the boys like to come and help me on their free days.”
You’re glad you found Jaehyun, and you love his family too. After the wonderful dinner and the delicious bread pudding she made for you, Jaehyun and you sadly have to bid goodbye.
Work is waiting for you and him, so staying in your own houses are good decision.
“I’ll see you on Saturday?” Jaehyun asks as he leans on the door frame
You yawn and nod your head, “Don’t you wanna stay over?” you ask hoping he can just sleep here tonight.
He sadly shakes his head, “I have some schedule tomorrow. Sorry, I’ll make it up to you.” He plays with your hair and kisses your forehead.
“Okay, take care! I am so sleepy,” you yawn one more time.
Jaehyun smirks and pokes your cheek, “Then sleep. I’ll text you when I got to the dorm.”
You smile and wave your hand “Good night, take care!”
He kisses your lips and pats your shoulder, “Thank you for everything! Bye! Don’t forget to lock the doors.”
His phone rings and you know its his manager calling him.
“Manager hyung is downstairs already. Gotta go sweetie! Love you” he waves and disappears behind the door.
You close the door and make sure to lock it. As you take a warm bath and rest your body on the soft mattress, your phone blinked and Jaehyun’s name appears in the notification.
“I’m in the dorm already, good night and sleep tight 💖” his message reads.
You smile and text him back, “Love you! Sleep well, my dear Valentine!😘”
You set aside your phone, turn your lights off and sink into the dream land. You’re happy to meet Jaehyun, life has been wonderful with its beautiful mysteries. You wouldn’t want to change your life with anything in this world. No. You’ll change and give everything to repeat this life story again and again.
Meeting Jaehyun was the best memories you have, saying yes to him was the happiest impulsive moment you made, and marrying him will be the one unforgettable moment you will never regret. Growing old with him happily and healthily, will be the goal for you in the future.
THE MEGA NICHIASA SHITPOSTING REPORT
NOW WITH THAT GREAT 2 WEEK LATE TASTE
Tropical Rouge, Culture Festival! Everyone Together, Let's Put Make-Up On Aozora!: The Tropical girls are getting ready for the best time of the year: The cultural festival. And in true Tropical Fashion, the girls decided to hold make-up classes for all visitors. But while planning just the right make-up to teach the novice children and grown adults, Laura gets suspicious that Minori is looking over to her ex, the Literature Club. I mean, when you up and disappear into the library, it's kinda hard to not think that you're looking for an escape route. But it's fine because they totally have enough people to help with the make-up classes. As long as Minori stays in the clubhouse.
That being said, distancing yourself from the rest of the group isn't very cool, Minori. Now you have a suspicious smug fish being all suspicious. And being a detective. And asking questions. A lot of questions. And she would ask even more questions if Manatsuu and the Smug Fish Laura's homeroom booth wasn't short-staffed because the kids with that shift decided to get an early head start on getting their Yaruki power stolen.
Meanwhile, the Lazy Trio has clocked into work, and Chongiri drew the short straw today. Guys, he just wants to cook. He wasn't trained for this. And he certainly wasn't trained for being kidnaped by a bunch of martial artists to run their grilled squid booth. Even if it's the most fun that he's had. At least right up until the point where he remembered he was still on the clock. At least everyone is busy.
I mean, really busy: Sango is still teaching people how to put on lipstick properly, and Asuka is trying to make sure no one cuts the line. The only one who the Broadcast Club could interview for the Tropical Club was Minori. Who turns out to be a secret master of the make-up arts.
The lesson the monster should have taken away was don't touch books. Books are supposed to bring people joy. I feel like I've heard that before. It also turns out that the reason Minori left the Literature Club is because her sempai quite literally read The Great Book and that story was already written, and therefore boring and too familiar and unoriginal. Again, I feel like I've heard this before. But that's okay because Minori's stronger with the Sword of Logos Tropical Club.
Reviving A Legend! The Pretty Cure's Power-Up Makeover!: After getting the results of a contest that the girls were not aware they were part of, The Tropical Club finds out that they came in second in the "hey, this booth is pretty cool" contest. Everyone is so excited that even Kururun even has to say something in front of the School newspaper. In other news, the girls suddenly develop a love of ventriloquism. Before telling Kururun to do their best impersonation of a statue.
Elsewhere, the Witch is waking up from a nightmare when her ex-girlfriend up and left her. If only her ex just didn't have the energy to leave... she probably should have given her ex's money back. But on the plus side, the Butler finally does something! He heads to the nearest watering hole and figures out a way to make polymer slime. While that is going on, Manatsuu and Laura are having a loving conversation over who is the most Tropicool.
After a nice long conversation, Manatsuu and Laura head to sleep, where Manatsuu meets the legendary Precure in a trippy and glowy dream aquarium. Manatsuu probably shouldn't overeat at dinner. Especially when she nearly drowns in her own dream.
But in the morning, the Girls start heading to school, only to have the Butler's slime experiments come up from the depths of the town's canals. So the girls transform and try to find the source of the Yaruki power, only to have the Aqua mirror 404 error on Cure La Mer. But while trying to find the source of the Yaraneda power, Cure Summer learns that Kururun is a good listener and has not moved since the beginning of the episode.
Meanwhile, the villains really still have no idea what their actual job description is. They're now working to form a union because they don't even know why they have to do all of this extra work. They're just a maid, doctor, and cook respectfully. They have also decided that union dues are due at the end of the month. Nuremi will collect.
Elsewhere, Cure Summer has picked up one (1) Kururun but ends up having to sacrifice herself to save the good sealo. And while Summer is now being farmed for Yaraneda power, Kururun becomes the new Cure Summer. All Hail Cure Kururun. Only to get hit with friendly fire via Cure Papaya's eye lasers. RIP Cure Kururun.
But with the power of Friendship (TM) and a new Mirror (buy our toy) Toei actually giving a good budget for an episode and some new barefoot dancing, The Butler's polymer slime experiment is defeated. This type of leadership should be the Student Council President. Revice, The Devil is Just a Bad Guy?!: It's time for a company review of last week's (lol), super conference where FENIX was super happy to show off their belt and their choice for a Rider in front of the whole world and one over-excited family. Since it didn't go too well, someone's getting demoted as punishment. RIP Hiromi's commandership. Perhaps he shouldn't have tried to be a hero, because now instead of a belt, he has a contract to become a magical girl I mean, have a deadman walking around. And now, the one that they wanted to be Revice in Daiji, has become a go-for to get his older brother to sign a contract to also become a magical girl I mean to work for FENIX, since he's not scared of the belt. Daiji can't win.
Meanwhile, in a golf competition, an older brother and younger brother are fighting over who has the better swinging motion, and who has the better golf knowledge. The fighting gets so... well, not intense, but belittling for the younger sibling, so much so that he gets fired as his older brother's caddy.
Don't work for family. (I say that as a younger sibling too.) But at least he was sold this spiffy new contract by a personified alcohol person. Alcohol for your soul. Salespeople are getting real pushy with their selling.
Meanwhile, back at the bathhouse of Happiness, Daiji has come back home to offer Ikki an offer he can't refuse.
Ikki promptly refuses it. Something about needing more bare butts in the tubs. And probably wouldn't want to trigger Vice's fight or fight harder instincts. But in the mists of the "Please, Ikki, there's a 300,000 yen signing bonus" fight to get Ikki to work for FENIX, the dad apparently found a live stream of the golf fight. Fight or Fight Harder instincts fully engaged, Vice possesses a bike to get to the action faster. Regular bikes are for squares; get your demon-powered bike now at your local bike store.
At the golf course, Ikki and Vice transform. And while Ikki was actually doing his not-his-job, Vice went off to do some selling. He'll be denied no fights. At least until the new VStamp pulls him back in to become an Eagle. After beating the older brother's contract deadman, Vice goes back to selling things. At least until Ikki undoes the transformation.
But good news, everyone! Mama is almost completely healed from almost being eaten unceremoniously. And soothes Ikki's fear and tells him that plenty of people have had 2 jobs before. I mean, look at Vice, selling things. He sold the younger golf brother on visiting the Deadmans and getting his own Deadman. That's some A+ selling.
Not the right selling, apparently, since Ikki is pissed. We're not supposed to be selling the Deadmans, we're supposed to be selling the bathhouse. I mean the bathhouse services. And as punishment, Ikki fights this new Deadman without transforming when Daiji notifies them of this new, totally out of the blue and not sold to, Deadman. I mean we can't have other lives in danger.
Tasked with either apologize and fight properly or not fight at all, Vice agrees not to sell shit like Deadmen again and finally gets that magical girl contract. After beating the second Deadman of the day, the two golf brothers make up as much as siblings are willing to, for the low price of their stamps.
Hostage Trouble, What To Do Brother?!: While hanging out at the best-awarded rave place in town, the Deadmen are trying to look for a way to revive their head of ravers, and peanut butter named villain Jif I mean Giff, with a new recruit, a walking hood. Meanwhile, while Mama is trying to support her middle child, in a surprise to all middle children everywhere, an eviction company came to evict the bathhouse. Ikki proudly states that they will never be evicted from that spot, despite the father's best attempts.
Elsewhere, Sakura and her best friend forever Ayaka are going shoe shopping, where Ayaka finds these really nice sparkly shoes. Since Ayaka was not invited to her little sister's photoshoot (instead opting to bring her mom), it was only fair to bring about the shopping therapy. But it turns out that one of them has a stalker following them. And that stalker has some Deadmen foot soldiers. He really has this thing for Ayaka. But Sakura has a cellphone, and calls for Ikki, since we're not doing hide the identity thing.
When Ikki gets to the scene of the crime, he tells them to run, only for the stalker to throw a Pokeball and catch Ayaka. He also demands Sakura, a woman who could probably kick his ass, or he'll kill off Ayaka. But live your dream dude. No kink-shaming here. But they agree because killing people is bad. But is then interrupted by the Kong Deadman. At least Daiji comes in at the right time with the 555 suitcase, now holding the Revice Driver.
While in the midst of a hard-fought battle, the Deadman runs to where the girls are kidnapped, and while chasing this Deadman, Revi and Vice run against another alcohol personified man who wants to make a bargain: The girls for the stamps. This leads the new Go-For Daiji to go back to the FENIX Inc., and retrieve the new stamps, and takes a look at the new P-Bandai belt. Daiji asks if it's possible for him to use that belt, only for George to do his best Ankh impersonation and laughed in his face.
In a sign of kindness, the stalker allows Ayaka to call her mom, who tells her to bug off, she's watching her daughter work the cameras. It sucks to know you're not the favorite.
Elsewhere, the trade is going down, in the following fight allows both of the stamps to go back to Ikki and Vice who pull off their best Den-O impersonation, and end the fight. And in the confusion, Sakura breaks out of her confinements and kicks the ass of the stalker, proving that if Toei doesn't make her a Rider they are missing an opportunity. Sucks that it seems the stalker isn't the actual contract holder.
Back at the Rave Central, The Hooded Intern has these new sparkly shoes.
Zenkaiger, No. 27-kai! A Great Voyage Through Seven Worlds!: After hearing that his mom is still alive and has escaped her deep sleep can on Tojitendo Kikaitopia, The Zenkaiger group starts looking for Kaito's mom Mitsuko. Despite their best efforts, including a massive Google search by Secchan, they still can't find her. This leads to the thought by Gaon that maybe she escaped to a whole other world.
Since it was a good thought, Kaito asks his boyfriend Vox if he can borrow his pirate ship to go look for her. He promises to fill it back up with gas. What does it take, diesel? Regular?
Vox doesn't allow this because Kaito has no driver's license. I mean, neither does Vox, but Flint does and Flint has the keys.
Meanwhile, Stacey hates his job and now is sent on a wild chase to find a woman he may or may not have let out for the sake of his adopted grandma and ice cream supplier. Truthfully, it wasn't entirely his fault. It's not like he attacked the warp gate like the others when he may or may not have left the sleeping pod open.
Back with the heroes, Vroom and Gaon stay behind because Toei's budget is running a little tight. Can't have all that CGI and stuff after spending all that money on the CGI for the other worlds. There are budget concerns to think about, you know. But the remaining heroes board the Pirate ship and Magine sets about looking for Mitsuko with her crystal ball. But because the Pirates have no time for proper seancing, they just start picking the closest worlds to our heroes' world and work from there. Mr. Su is everywhere, by the way.
And after going to worlds where they are called perverts, nearly arrested, and freeze to death, in that order, Stacey arrives with his entourage of other people looking to cash in on overtime and says that all of the other worlds are getting visited, because she didn't just go back home, and not because they shot themselves in the foot. Instead of searching for clues in the Ice World, the Zenkaigers and Twokaizers head off to the Mushroom Kingdom. They did not see any plumbers, however. But, they "find" "Mama" "Mitsune" before Stacey and his crew of merry overtime workers, and a fight breaks out. After beating this wave, the Pirate ship heads off to Earth, much to the relief of Stacey who just wants to make Yatsune happy. Only to be told to follow them. Leading to another battle on Ice World. Stacey better be getting paid time and a half for this. The Zenkaigers win again and head back to Earth. But after the fight, "Mitsuko" takes off the magical disguise to show that it was Me, Magine! (not actually this writer.) with the hope that the bait and switch will get Tojitendo Kikaitopia to leave the other worlds alone, and just focus on them.
No. 28-kai! Weekly Shonen Manga World of Great Illustrations!: Kaito finally got his learner's permit to drive interdimensional ships and is going on a drive with Flint and some of his friends for practice before his big test with the Experienced Driver Flint. Vox has decided that is not his scene and is hanging out at Colorful, on Kaito's dime.
As someone who loves discovery, Vroom has made a big one: Vox is an Otaku. Vox loves him some manga. This is cool since Vroom is also a Manga Sommelier. And so is today's world, Manga World. And Manga World is working on his new hit piece for not-Shonen Jump about the everyday lives of the People of Earth. The pages even move! Now with exclusive Zyuran and Magine chapters! This is a limited edition, so make sure to get yours soon.
Back at Kikaitopia, the entire Tojitendo is still not happy about losing the Eve to their Adam. It'll be fine guys. It's not like there's someone there who'd sell you guys out for one ice cream parfait or something. He's too busy trying to get intel and how to get the father out to really mess with his own dad.
Back at Colorful, the Comics and the Not-Comics are having a conference about how to deal with Manga World. Kaito thinks that because Manga is just "drawing" and "some words" and some "Ink" that anyone can be a Mangaka. That it's sooo easy. This may or may not piss off Vox (and this writer.) about how people think it's so easy to be a Mangaka and storms off. Probably to an art room to make his Manga.
So because plan A didn't work, they go with plan B and buy the latest edition of the most popular manga. And after unbinding the pages of the latest Tankobon of Kimetsu no Yaiba and laying them off on the floor, Manga World starts trying to collect and read the pages. Kaito, thinking he's a ninja tries to steal it while he's reading, only to be caught and sent to the Manga page world. That Limited Edition now has a Kaito Chapter. Only 50 made! (Use the Ninninger or Hurricaneger gear next time.)
But this gives just enough time for Vox to drop ALL of his doujinshi and Original Works onto the floor. The Manga World loves the fact that they're seeing this new work about a pirate in space, looted, in true fashion, from Mangatopia. So much so that Vox does what pirates do best and swipes the limited edition not-Shonen Jump.
Everyone transforms to fight, including the comic pages. And proceed to fight and win, with half of the time acting it out in comic pages. And all the people are freed from their comic pages. I hope you got that limited edition not-Shonen Jump before it was too late.
And while Vox used that manga to save his family, he'd like to get it back now. Too bad Yatsune has ordered that manga back to Mangatopia. If he doesn't tell, will he get to keep it?
Persona 5 Royal Playthrough pt3
I ended up going through two Palaces before I could update y’all. Oh well.
...Yeah, no, quit calling me Miss Special Snowflake's boyfriend. It's not happening.
Ryuji, Morgana, and Yusuke having a conversation in the laundromat: "It's like he's our mom," says Ryuji... the mom friend.
Every time Morgana is like "I have to turn into a human so no one else can have Lady Ann!" then expects no one else to hear him makes me laugh. Like, bitch, no.
I have the restaurant in my Thieves Den 'cause I like it. Yusuke, Ryuji, and Morgana are there. They're so precious.
I got a three in a row Tycoon on cutthroat!!!
Ryuji and Ann just keep going "Shoulda figured" and other versions of the statement every time I win.
Ann just rejected Morgana's feelings HARD. I am happy.
Ryuji is too good, honestly. Why would anyone not like him? He's... He's always trying to build the team up, make them proud of themselves and what they've done. I will admit that he has his moments of being not a great human, but they're teenagers who were given absurd powers, so honestly, can you blame them?
I didn't know darts was an actual minigame! There's so many minigames. I'm so happy.
I don't like Akechi. I don't know why some people do. Like, his death scene was a bit... too late for a redemption for me, right after he tried to kill Joker, several times. His pain is understandable, but still... I can't.
Their "two sides of the same coin" also doesn't seem particularly fair. It's totally uneven in everything but color schemes.
Guys, GUYS, please, PLEASE decide whether you're going to react to my teasing or not.
"We don't have to deal with them directly," Ryuji says joyfully about the mafia. Oh you sweet, sweet, innocent child, if only you knew what I do.
I literally can't play this game around anyone else because I tend to yell "BABY!" to Ryuji, Ann, and Yusuke and "BITCH" or "FUCKER" to... a rather long list of villains in this game... and Makoto.
I can literally feel Yusuke's anxiety about his painting when you take him to Leblanc to see Sayuri.
How can you say Yusuke isn't gay when he says everything I do is beautiful?
I love Ryuji's 9th social link. It's LITERALLY written like a confession scene. This also means I kinda hate it because... I can't date him.
Also... PRETTY BOY RYUJI PRETTY BOY RYUJI PRETTY BOY RYUJI
I actually kinda thought that the new scene for Ryuji being a crossdresser is kinda funny??? Is this bad??? I wanna see him in a dress, tho. I gotta agree, he'd be a natural. Not the like, painfully obviously not taking it seriously from the dancing game, though.
Though I do think it's valid that he freaks out when two strange adults come up to him and try to take him somewhere, especially in a place known for being shady, and at night.
...When Ryuji complains about it, I do feel bad about ditching him. Then again, I blame the cat.
Ryuji may be my ideal type on paper, but I'm also highly attracted to Yusuke and this is so totally unfair.
*softly chanting* butlers butlers butlers butlers
Don't mind me just... *makes meticulous plot to avoid having Makoto join the team that i may or may not write a fanfic about*
Makoto is one dumbass bitch. Like, honestly, there's nothing she does that's in any way remotely smart.
...I thought I'd just skip Makoto's scenes until she became relevant, but here I am, still skipping her scenes. Does that mean she’s still irreleveant?
"Witch" I suggest, and Makoto complains! "Would you prefer "Bitch"? I can use that too.
I put Yusuke on the team in the middle of the palace through settings, replacing Morgana, who had been standing right behind me. Which made Yusuke stand right behind me. It looked like he was holding onto my waist and standing uncomfortably close. Bro, babe, I love you, but not in front of my boyfriend and girlfriend!
Just accept the compliment, guys, I'm not going to compliment Queen.
...Opening chests with Ann or Ryuji is just so sweet because they're so affectionate and touchy feely. Especially Ryuji.
Math. Fucking. Sucks. I should not have to use math in a game. I hate this. Obviously it's the Palace Makoto comes in that this happened.
Well, I finished the Palace in a day. I love the feeling. But it was getting close there. Joker and Yusuke were down to no spells...
...Yoshizawa hasn't showed up yet. When is she getting shoehorned in?
WHY IS THE VELVET ROOM RED!?
My very first playthrough I didn't execute a single execution except for the first one we have to do. It really screwed me over my second playthrough...
...I broke the electric chair. That's certainly something that happened.
147 games of Tycoon later and I've only been a beggar 31 times in total, versus the pure thirty wins in just Cutthroat.
They're in their summer uniforms and it makes make miss warmer weather already. It's fucking snowing outside. Grrrr.
Beat Kaneshiro! ...Wasn't a fan of his new boss battle. I'm even playing on safe mode! But whatever.
Makoto is a DISASTER at Tycoon. She exclusively got beggar all three times I played with her!
...RYUJI YOU CAN'T SAY SHIT LIKE THAT AND NOT LET ME DATE YOU.
Ann, sweeties, baby, you're doing so well.
She confessed to me, then in the call afterwards it was basically insinuated I proposed... WHICH IS LIKE FUCK YEAH 'CAUSE SHE ACCEPTED IT.
It makes me think of the future conversation where they're talking about marriage.
Anyway, if you haven't noticed, l love Ann.
My next playthrough I'm not gong to date her, though. I'm a completionist and I want ALL of the possible awards. But... I refuse to cheat on Ann. So I'll date everyone else then just hang with Ryuji... despite how cringy some of the date things are.
...If Akechi wasn't, you know EVIL and tried to KILL ME, SEVERAL TIMES, I might, MIGHT, like him. But in truth, I think that's really just the Persona 5: Revival talking. We get... into some stuff during that.
I know that either Atlus or the translators know EXACTLY what goes on in the Persona fandom because otherwise "He's too pretty to be wrong" would not be an option when talking to the newspaper girl about Akechi. I have to agree with her that his looks aren't really, you know, awesome enough for that.
Also, I read it as "He's too petty to be wrong" at first and I think that's an accurate sum of his character.
YO AKECHI-FUCK I HAVE NO NEED TO SEE YOUR ASS LIKE THAT WHEN I HAVE BOTH A BF AND AND GF.
...fucker fucking giving me shit about my fake glasses...
If you COULD date the boy out of mod, Akechi would definitely be the one they were pushing you to date. Like Makoto. Or Yoshizawa.
But hey, at least I get to not be nice to him.
I remember seeing this picture where Ann, Ryuji, and Joker kept going to the movies together and seeing 3D movies, and Joker couldn't wear the 3D glasses properly because of his own. I keep imagining that picture during this event with Caroline and Justine.
You know what? Some people call Joker a loli lover because of them, but nope! He's just adopted two more siblings. That is my stance on it.
FUcking
Fucker
WHAT THE FRRRRRRRR
FUCK YOU ATULS OR TRANSLATORS OR WHATEVER
APHRODITE AND MARS ARE FROM TWO DIFFERENT MYTHOS. Aphrodite is GREEK, Mars is ROMAN. Their reversed are VENUS and ARES. USE ONE OR THE OTHER PEOPLE.
I get very pissed about this, and it's worse with Hades.
7/4 is the day I am screaming at, if you were wondering.
My dad asked me if the other students think Joker's stupid because every time I answer a question right they get all surprised.
I don't really like Makoto, as I'm sure you've noticed, but she was super nice about Ryuji's special move idea. And that put her ahead of Akechi in my book.
TESTS ARE NERVE WRACKING EVEN WHEN THEY'RE FICTIONAL
Yusuke and Ryuji are good boys, the best boys. And they're so awesome about their special move.
AND RYUJI OFFERED MONEY FOR YUSUKE'S FOOD. And implied that he did it before???? Ryuji, you best boy.
This boys' outing DOES make me happy, though. Like, insanely happy. Dunno why.
Maybe because Joker gets to be so flipping cheesy.
...fuck you, Yoshizawa.
HONESTLY WHAT THE EVER LOVING--- Grr. Too many choices while with her. Too many. OOC Joker when with her. 0/10.
I LOVE THE FESTIVAL PHOTO
And you know, it's really hard to choose between Lala-chan and Ann, but... GONNA TAKE ANN ON A DATE
Got her some flowers. Lets see if we can give them to her this time!
"Such a good FRIEND." Babe, we're DATING. For like, TWO WEEKS NOW.
AND I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO GIVE HER FLOWERS
Ann called Yusuke a pretty boy, but then she's missing out on the REAL pretty boy, Pretty Boy Ryuji.
Ryuji, why're you so worried about other girls when you've got ME?
"I like the shade." "What are you, moss!?" Oh, admit it, Ryuji, I'm growing on you.
Cargona. Snrk. Gods, I love you, Ryuji.
Dome town with Ryuji! "Isn't it all couples?" That's the point!
I COULD GIVE RYUJI THE ROSES!?
Sadly, I bought those for Ann. Ryuji, you get the noodles.
AND HE FUCKING LOVED IT.
"It feels like I really captured Ryuji's heart!" FUCK YEAH I DID
Gonna give Yusuke the bracelet when I get the chance.
Why is everyone color coded in the chat room? Kawakami, Akechi, Mishima, and the reporter are all ORANGE. What's the point? Well, Akechi's more of a golden orange, but close enough.
While Mishima is not my first choice for a date, he's definitely not my last.
...But the boy really needs some fucking sleep. He's not drawn with the bags under his eyes, but I can see them!
It's not fair that they give Akechi a kicked puppy sprite. I'm... goddamnit, they're trying to make me not hate him.
When Makoto doesn't know something, I'm brought great joy.
NO DAD MAKOTO IS NOT MY GIRLFRIEND ANN IS AND SHE IS LITERALLY R I G H T T H E R E
First day in Futaba's Palace! I've gotta say, this is my second favorite palace. Kamoshida, Futaba, Madarame, Sae, Okumura, Shido, Kaneshiro, Holy Grail. In that order. I HATE Kaneshiro's place and dealing with the Holy Grail. But whatevs, man. I love this game. (Vanilla, at least, this one is still on the fence)
I found out a cool little thing. On the uphill sand slopes in the town (don't know about anywhere else) if you're running and turn back quickly, Joker will do a little animation to steady himself. It was cool and made it seem, I dunno, more human? Anyway, while I was admiring this, Ryuji and Yusuke just stood at the top of the slope and Ann followed me while I was running. Best girlfriend ever.
Kin-Ki is looking pretty kin-ky if you know what I'm sayin'
Please don't murder me because I do terrible puns.
*we fall through the trap door* *Ryuji starts screaming* Same, baby, same.
...Makoto is seriously annoying. Like, she's got no business acting as familiar with Futaba's situation. The one who WOULD be the most familiar is Yusuke, and I'm glad he recognizes that. It's not the exact same, none of their stories are after all, but I feel like those two get each other better than even Ryuji and Joker understand each other.
Yusuke and Ryuji's special attack is THE BEST
Ryuji and Joker getting up close and personal in the shadows. All those fanfics coming true, man.
I thought Futaba was sloth, not wrath? Why are her Will Seeds called Wrath?
Beat it in one day! It's so satisfying to watch all those achievements when I leave the palace.
You know, I'm thinking of wearing the Christmas outfits for the final battle. Just to be kinda funny.
Spending a relaxing day with Yusuke after going through Futaba's Palace... kinda want to take him to the bathhouse to check out that new scene, but I also REALLY wanna feed the boy... gonna feed the boy.
Apparently I can only make 'decent curry.' Which is fine. Because "I" can't make curry at all. Joker, you've done much better than I.
THE DATE CHANGE SCREEN HAD A RAINBOW AND RYUJI WAS COMING OVER ON THE SAME DAY FUCK YEAH MY BISEXUAL BABY
...Broooooo, the way you talk about your manga is how I talk right before I start shipping.
Took him to the bathhouse, 'cause I don't gotta worry about Mama Sakamoto feeding him.
...Can I take Ann to the bathhouse?
Asked Ryuji to move in. He was all up for the idea until he remembered that I live in an attic.
I'm Charismatic now!
...I was all hoping Ann would stop by but then Akechi asked me out. Laaaaaaaame.
Ryuji's smile is so fucking cute.
...I say we just be honest, and everyone's so fucking stupid about it until Makoto explains it. This pisses me off. They're not that dumb... At least, they weren't until Makoto showed up.
Futaba's hiding in the closet. ...I've spent too many weeks making jokes about closets to not have a joke about it.
Really, Yusuke? You see those books and think she can't understand?
...Wait, that sassy tone of voice... You were TRYING to pull a reaction of her. I knew I shipped those two for a reason. OTP and BroTP. Doesn't matter, they're both awesome.
I love you Ann, but I don't think your situations were the same at all. It's not like both are valid and bad, but... different.
Joker is SO fast compared to the others, especially when he's speeding.
What the...
Holy fuck...
JOKER IS TOO EFFING COOL
THAT MOVE TO GET FROM THE ENTRANCE TO TO TREASURE DOOR? Awesome!
Damn, Joker has my heart too.
I kinda wish we could see Futaba's costumes in her Persona. That would be pretty neat.
The moment right before Wakaba appears is so aesthetically pleasing.
...Futaba being happy is almost enough for me to accept Maruki's offer, and I haven't gotten there yet.
Ryuji and Ann keep smacking each other out of their ailments. Like, you guys just love each other so much! It's awesome.
Joker has lackluster responses to Wakaba... I'm hoping that isn't one of those "Answer these wrong and you break her!" things... Not that I think I was, but still.
I liked Futaba's new animation for when she defied her mother.
I wish the anime looked more the cutscenes. I'm trying to rewatch the anime so I can pinpoint specific moments for future editing purposes, but it's kinda painful.
1- This is the SECOND TIME you've landed on Yusuke while running from trouble.
2- YUSUKE LET GO OF MY GIRL
No Makoto, I don't want to go see Futaba with you! I can go see her myself.
So, I like Takemi's new voice with her lines during this scene.
Sure, she collapses every so often and sleeps for a while. Stays like that for a few days. Sorry that I put her into a coma for a month, Boss...
SHE LOOKS SO CUTE WITHOUT GLASSES
Guys, we have a month. Stop worrying.
THE TWINS ARE SO CUTE WHILE HANGING ONTO THE BENCH PRESS
Damn, Joker's dying to the amusement of two little girls.
I'm kinda disappointed I didn't get results for all that training. But I liked the scene.
Yusuke just casually be lugging bigass paintings around.
Taking the girls to the church may have been one of the funnier moments. These cement them as Joker's little sisters. With Futaba. Damn, Joker, you got no brothers.
Yusuke promises to come by every day and we can tell him to take his clothes off. ATLUS, you have some EXPLAINING to DO.
..And Yusuke took it and ran with it. My sweet summer child, I don't think I could handle you in as little as possible on the day to day.
"The heat induced delirium made me think outside the box." Same.
Guts takes sooooooooooooo long to level up.
"Punish me more" he says, as if Takemi won't do it.
"Good god. Well, none of my medicine can cure THAT." AT LEAST WE'RE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE
BATHHOUSE WITH YUSUKE
Awe, he had fun. :)
The principal purpose of politics is the evolution and maintenance of a securely established ruling class with a justified sense of its own honourable superiority.
- Sir Peregrine Worsthorne, ex-editor of the Sunday Telegraph
RIP. 22 Dec 1923- 4 Oct 2020
He was one of the most distinguished and outspoken editors of recent times – he worked at the Daily Telegraph between 1953 and 1961 and for 28 years at the Sunday Telegraph between 1961 and 1989, spending five years as deputy editor and three as editor. He was knighted in 1991.
He was widely considered among the most unpredictable and provocative columnists of his generation, as well as the most stylish. He was lauded as a fearless contrarian and an entirely original thinker. He saw himself as a romantic reactionary.
Born in Chelsea, London, on December 22, 1923, was the younger son of General Alexander Lexy Koch de Gooreynd, a Belgian banker who had served his country in World War One.
His mother was Priscilla Reyntiens, a London councillor and board member and supporter of mental health institutions, who was the granddaughter of the 12th Earl of Abingdon.
His parents separated when he was six and he scarcely saw his father again. His mother later married Montagu Norman, the then governor of the Bank of England. Norman couldn’t relate to children and so they put in a separate house with servants and butler on hand.
He was educated at Stowe and not Eton, much to his chagrin. He claimed he he was seduced into a sexual tryst by George Melly, the jazz musician (a charge he denied) and he despised the common boys who were bright but had no social manners (talking about ‘mum and dad’).
He then went on to Peterhouse, Cambridge where he studied under great conservative and Christian historian, Herbert Butterfield. At Peterhouse he became part of small but influential High Tory intellectuals alongside Maurice Cowling and Herbert Butterfield.
The war interrupted his studies. Wortsthone was commissioned into the Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, when he wanted to go into the Guards regiment. Another disappointment. But at least he had the benefit of also being educated at Oxford when recovering from an injury, under CS Lewis at Magdalen College.
He served well during the war. He took part in Operation Phantom during the Allied campaign in Italy and he served with and made firm friends with the future conservative philosopher Michael Oakeshott and Hollywood actor David Niven.
Unlike his close conservative friends Maurice Cowling and Michael Oakeshott, he didn’t go into academia but journalism.
During his time at the Telegraph, Mr Worsthorne, a life-long Conservative supporter, showed support for a return to colonisation, mourned the decline of the British Empire and was criticised for his views on homosexuality. He spoke favourably of Senator Joe McCarthy, Rhodesia’s Ian Smith, President Nixon, and Chile’s General Pinochet.
He wrote an editorial piece in 1982 criticising politician Roy Jenkins for his tolerance of 'queers' and clashed with Sir Ian McKellen during a BBC Radio Three debate - prompting the actor to announce that he was gay.
He also clashed with Andrew Neil, then the editor of the Sunday Times, after he wrote a column comparing modern editors to playboys - which centred on Mr Neil's relationship with former Miss India, Pamella Bordes.
It was essential not to take Worsthorne too seriously, because he delighted in mischief-making and wilful provocation – one of his targets for remorseless ridicule was Andrew Neil, when Neil edited the abrasively Thatcherite Sunday Times. He ended up suing Worsthorne, who was famous for his silk shirts and Garrick Club lunches, for libel; he was awarded damages of £1, the then cover price of the Sunday Times.
“I wrote that in the old days editors of distinguished Sunday papers could be found dining at All Souls, and something must have changed when they’re caught with their trousers down in a nightclub,” Worsthorne told me when we met recently. “I had no idea he was going to sue. I was teasing. I occasionally run into him and we smile at each other, so it’s all forgotten and forgiven.”
He was deliciously contrarian. Worsthorne admired Thatcher and believed that the “Conservatives required a dictator woman” to shake things up, though he was not a Thatcherite and denounced what he called her “bourgeois triumphalism”. He expresses regret at how the miners were treated during the bitter strike of 1984-85. “I quarrelled with her about the miners’ strike, and the people she got around her to conduct it were a pretty ropey lot.”
In contrasrt to the modern Conservative Party he was pro-EU and increasingly felt the magic of old England was being lost that was leading Scotland to leave the Union, “What’s happening is part of the hopelessness of English politics. It’s horrible. I can’t think why the Scots would want to be on their own but it might happen. The youth will vote [for independence]. This is part of my central theme: the Scots no longer think it’s worthwhile belonging to England. The magic of England has gone – and it’s the perversity of the Tory party to want to get us out of the European Union when of course we’re much more than ever unlikely to be able to look after ourselves as an independent state because of the quality of our political system.
He was scathing of the modern bourgeois Brexiteers, “The people who want to get us out are obviously of an undesirable kind. That the future should depend on [Nigel] Farage is part of the sickness. I mean the real horror is for him to have any influence at all. And when you think of the great days of the Labour Party, the giants who strode the stage – famous, lasting historical figures, some of them: Healey, Attlee, who was probably the greatest, [Ernest] Bevin. I’m well aware that Labour in the good days produced people who were superior.”
Even after retiring from journalism he remained a staunch defender of the aristocracy in public life, “I’ve always thought the English aristocracy so marvellous compared to other ruling classes. It seemed to me that we had got a ruling class of such extraordinary historical excellence, which is rooted in England almost since the Norman Conquest....Just read the 18th-century speeches – the great period – they’re all Whig or Tory, but all come from that [the aristocracy]. If they didn’t come directly from the aristocracy, they turned themselves very quickly into people who talk in its language. Poetic. If you read Burke, who’s the best in my view, it’s difficult not to be tempted to think what he says has a lot of truth in it . . .”
RIP Perry. The last of the great High Tory titans.
Beetlejuice March 8,2020 Review
So once a semester my school offers discounted tickets for students to go see a show and I finally had the weekend free and it was Beetlejuice so I had to go. So the theater itself when you walking in is one of the more decorated ones I’ve seen, the lights are off and they have these lantern looking lights that are different colors and the entire time you’re sitting waiting for the show to start they have this music playing that’s a weird combination of ominous and quirky and it works.
So I love Beetlejuice and it’s not only one of my favorite shows but also one of my favorite movies so I had high expectations going into the performance and let me just say that I was not disappointed. The set was amazing, all the tech and magic aspects were on point, all the actors played their roles perfectly. It’s easily one of the best shows that I’ve see on broadway. It also really shocks me that the production didn’t win any tony awards specifically Alex Brightman and the set. Also the performance I was at had one of the most electric crowds I’ve ever seen and I’ve been to actors final performances. Every joke, song, entrance got a huge reaction and their was standing ovation as soon as jump in the line ended.
Alright let’s review some actors now:
Alex Brightman: I’ve wanted to see Alex perform live for so long now, and I’m so glad that I got to see him in this performance. He absolutely nails the BJ voice and he really pays tribute nicely to Michael Keatons BJ while also giving his own hilarious take on the role. He absolutely nailed the jokes and he really has a great singing voice that he mixes in to the BJ voice. I’m still shocked he didn’t win the Tony award for best leading actor in a musical because so much of the show relies on Beetlejuice and his energy and his ability to keep everyone into the show.
Presley Ryan: Now I’ve seen a lot of people saying that they don’t like Presley in the role because she isn’t as anxious as Sophia and has much less of an Rock/punk edge to her voice. However I have to say that she plays Lydia perfectly. Her Lydia is much a teenager who has become consumed with the thought of death and is struggling with the loss of her mother and this is how she’s chosen to grieve rather then being a typical “goth” teen and that before the loss of her mother she was very different. We get hints of this throughout the show when Charles talks about how things were before her mom passed, this makes her sweeter and more traditional singing voice make a lot more sense because she’s more so using the goth and death facade as a shield. Her acting choices through out the show are very strong and the sweetness definitely comes through when she talks about memories she has with her mom. Her Lydia is also very connected to the other characters like you can see how she views Adam and Barbara as surruogate parents and how much she loves them, this is especially true in the first scene she has with them in the attaic, you can see how much she loves her dad and how she is struggling with feeling like she’s lost him too. Presley is also physically very small like when she was standing with some of the other actors it stood out at least to me how tiny she actually is and I’m 5’2. This might be an unpopular opinion but I actually prefer her in the role in comprison to Sophia, I feel like Presley had a much more emotion connection and delivery and it really showed. It took everything in me to not sob during home.
Kerry Butler: Kerry Butler really feels so much like Barbara and she fits the role perfectly. She balances that maturing mothering and doting vibe with having some great comedic moments. As Katherine Steele always we can always use more Kerry Butler. She just seems like such a sweet person and she just seems so pure
Leslie Kritzer: Leslie was one of my favorite performances of the afternoon. She is absolutely hysterical as Delia and she totally steals the show. I mean between the tik Tok and fortnite dances to her life coaching she quite literally has done my favorite performance by any actor ever. She is just so funny and she really makes the role her own. And the best thing is within all this humor she has some great moments where she is caring and you can see how much this family means to her. Also I died during No Reason it was just {chefs kiss}
David Josefsberg: David was a great Adam and I was pleasantly surprised by him. He also sounds so much like Rob Mclure it’s scary, there were several times were I forgot it wasn’t Rob performing. Like Kerry his Adam is the perfect balance of the stereotypical suburban dad trope soon fm with having some great comedic moments, also watching him act in response to all the advances BJ makes towards his character is hysterical. He also looked he peaked when he got to make his Dad jokes to Lydia especially after she said she liked them.
Adam Dannheiser: He was a great Charles and Charles is a character that could very easily fade into the background because of all the other eccentric characters around him and he provides a wonderful balance to all the craziness going on around him. It would be very easy portray Charles as a bad guy, but Adam does a great job at showing that Charles like Lydia is struggling with the loss of his wife and while his mourning looks different and that he’s trying to move on it still hurts him deeply. One of the most impactful Serbs was his conversation with Lydia in the underworld after Home when she realizes that she can’t find her mom. The scene was poignant and raw and you really felt like you were watching a father reconnect with his daughter and how much he cares about her.
Ensamble: The ensamble was great and their in the show a lot more than I realize. They had great tracks and I loved watching them, they really stood out in What I know now and Beautiful Sound. Also special shout out to Dana Steingold who plays the Girl Scout, she is a surprisingly believable child for someone in their 30s and I loved her scene.
If you get the chance to see the show before it closes I highly recommend it, it’s totally worth the price of admission and your guaranteed to have a great time.
about ten years ago, i started predicting the oscars! here are ten of my favorite predictions that i was very confident about that very much didn’t happen, one per year:
2010: Anne Hathaway, Love & Other Drugs (Best Actress) - early word was good! it seemed like a baity performance in an accessible dramady! she was a recent nominee! then, of course, people saw the movie.
honorable mention: Mila Kunis, Black Swan (Best Supporting Actress)
2011: Vanessa Redgrave, Coriolanus (Best Supporting Actress) - I still have no idea what happened with this movie other than the industry just doesn’t care about Shakespeare movies anymore. as far as I know, Redgrave and the movie got good reviews, but I still haven’t seen it, lol.
honorable mention: Albert Brooks, Drive (Best Supporting Actor)
2012: Samantha Barks, Les Misérables (Best Supporting Actress) - I’ll never live this down and I deserve it. I was so gung-ho that she would be nominated. I was even convinced she could win à la Jennifer Hudson before it became clear that they were betting the house on Hathaway. and honestly? it’s been a few years but i still think Barks is pretty good in this movie. even if the rest of the movie is pretty bad.
honorable mention: Leonardo DiCaprio, Django Unchained (Best Supporting Actor)
2013: Robert Redford, All is Lost (Best Actor) - I was CONVINCED he would win for this. I still have no idea how this fizzled out.
honorable mention: Oprah Winfrey, The Butler (Best Supporting Actress)
2014: Ava DuVernay, Selma (Best Director) - it’s still so fucked up how Universal completely botched Selma’s Oscar campaign. there was a time I was predicting DuVernay to win. in the end, the movie only got two nominations: Best Picture and Best Song.
honorable mention: Jessica Chastain, A Most Violent Year (Best Supporting Actress)
2015: Carey Mulligan, Suffragette (Best Actress) - really, everything Suffragette. in the summer of 2015, I was positive it would break out as a huge contender and be a threat to win Best Picture. how quickly that fell apart.
honorable mention: Don Cheadle, Miles Ahead (Best Actor)
2016: Ang Lee, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk (Best Director) - again, another movie I predicted for across-the-board nominations that ended up being completely shut out. what a bizarre, bizarre thing.
honorable mention: Liam Neeson, Silence (Best Supporting Actor)
2017: Bryan Cranston, Last Flag Flying (Best Actor) - everything about this made perfect sense on paper! Richard Linklater! three actors beloved by American dads everywhere! a sequel to a movie that previously got acting nominations! and then it just came and went.
honorable mention: Kate Winslet, Wonder Wheel (Best Actress)
2018: Viola Davis, Widows (Best Actress) - the industry basically ignoring this movie will never not baffle me. I don’t get it.
honorable mention: Lucas Hedges, Boy Erased (Best Actor)
2019: Taika Waititi, Jojo Rabbit (Best Supporting Actor) - he technically still won an Oscar for this, but there was a time when I was convinced he’d be a threat to win Supporting Actor. weirdly, most of my predictions from last year were pretty close?!
honorable mention: Zhao Shuzhen, The Farewell (Best Supporting Actress) - she won the Golden Elliott, the most important award of all.
