Been biting my tongue for a few days because I have been 👀👀 about the bit in the Dear John update where Benny says he needs a woman of his own and wondering if you are going to include that in future snippets. Is he gonna get a girl? Is Brady gonna be his girl? It’s eating at me.

“Is Brady gonna be his girl?” is the moment I spun into orbit laughing so hard because what a mood. He’s about desperate enough for comfort to make him his girl in Dear John, Lbr, however, Miss @stylespresleyhearted and I do have other plans for him. Including as was requested and screamed about months ago- a starlet of his own. One of Julie’s less likely friends who’s a little more on the Bette Paige range of overt attraction but it suits them just fine.

Due to your comment I’m now thinking of making her play the sax just so we have a case of Benny going and finding himself a Girl Brady just as Bucky went and found himself a Girl Gale 😆

Also generally just buzzing that you noticed that one little line because it was so intentional 🥂

Honestly, what is wrong with some people? I’ve been through a handful of fandoms and have always fell into the (addictive) rabbit hole that is fanfiction. By far, and not as a dig to any amazing writer I am a fan of, Marina has been the most inclusive, interactive creator I have ever came across. She willingly shares ideas and incorporates ideas of her followers (us) because she can sense the understanding and love we have for her OC’s to her universes and it’s an aspect of her generosity. Not many would be so willingly selfless with their creations. Fanfiction is fun but it is so much more: it is art, it is time, it is labor, it is work, it is beautiful and we are damn lucky that something so consuming is given to us free by amazing authors who take time off of their busy, private personal lives to share with us. I understand disappointment and perhaps needing to step away but disrespecting someone who has ALWAYS had her blog be open and fun and supportive and honest for everyone is futile. Going on an anon to send petty asks only creates hostility and tension and those people come off as ungrateful, petulant children. There are many of us who want to be here and want this blog to remain the interactive space Marina has so graciously cultivated.

Marina THANK YOU for all the asks you answer, all the prompts you entertain, all the love you receive and willingly give. Thank you for allowing me to message you that one night two years ago when all I wanted to do was show you pictures of Elvis and peek into your brilliant mind. Thank you for the time and love you pour into these works that so many of us get to enjoy. I am grateful that you allow us to share this space with you.

My precious Bri, thank you for this, don’t even have words to add or say gracias, but you’re the bestest and your heart is so kind and working with you is always the most seamless joy because we do it both out of love for a thing and love for each other. You’re the bestest baby ❤️

the way i am absolutely livid at the way some of you are treating marina — the kindest, most selfless, accepting, dearest friend I’ve come to know on here. The only one who answers my 20 messages that sit waiting for her and not only does she answer them she delights in them. She motivates and inspires and is so effortlessly giving and it is so obvious many of you weren’t taught to be grateful. Shame on you! I’ve tried to keep my mouth shut because Marina is so graceful and well-spoken and classy but it is getting damn hard.

Imagine being so possessive over someone else’s hard-work , creation, and ideas? It’s her universe, and ya’ll ain’t paying her, be grateful she lets us read it. goodbye.

Can we just be decent human beings and remember this is all supposed to be fun? You can be disappointed but please don’t come for Marina.

this ISNT fun for the majority of the readers on here anymore and marina could’ve said months ago that she wasn’t as interested in the oc that most people read this series for than she is in the others

80s AU - ranger x businessman

John is a park ranger in the San Francisco bay area. He’s relatively open about his bisexuality, and he has a bubbly, hedonistic lifestyle. He’s very comfortable in his body and knows he’s fit and attractive.

Gale is a businessman in the city. He’s all serious and uptight in his everyday life, so deep in the closet he barely even admits it to himself, doesn’t think he has much of a chance at love, but he longs for something, someone to break him out of the shackles of his life.

They meet when Gale's bosses organize a retreat in the forest where Bucky is assigned to babysit supervise them. John and Gale hit it off instantly, but just as friends, because Gale is, of course, careful not to give away the guilty attraction he feels.

But after that first meeting, Gale can’t take it anymore, he decides to risk going to a gay bar in the city. Just to see what it's like.

He makes it to the street of the bar, but can’t bring himself to go in. He’s about to turn tail and go home when John, on his way to the same bar with his friends, spots him. He tells his friends to go ahead, then stops to talk to Gale.

From the way Gale acts, John realizes what's going on. He wants to stay out of Gale's issues but the magnetic pull of attraction keeps him from leaving. He decides to take Gale to a normal bar instead, they have a few drinks (Gale only one for courage), they talk...

...and then John takes Gale home and they end up having rough, desperate, frantic sex together.

As soon as they're done, Gale flees.

John intends to forget about him (he can’t), so he sleeps with Paulina, but it doesn't make him feel any better.

But then, Gale comes to the park again, just to see him, and it soon becomes clear that no matter how they try, they can’t stay away from each other anymore, and a tumultuous relationship starts.

Eventually, Gale learns how to let himself be loved, and John learns that he can settle down.

Side note: since this is an 80s au, it’s set during the worst of the AIDS epidemic, but this AU is not focused on that. John and Gale don’t contract it. Gale does attack John verbally out of fear of the disease though.
