Has anyone figured out the Twilight movieverse timeline? It's way more confusing than it has any right to be.

For starters, Twilight (2008) starts around two months later than when the book begins. (Which is January) And is presumably set in the same year as it's release.

According to the official wiki, James is killed in Spring 2008 (in movie).

Okay, I'm with it so far. First movie takes place in 2008. And the rest follow the timeline of the books, but in 2008/9 instead of 2005/6. Right?... Right?

Bella's 18th birthday will be Sept. 13 2008 instead. But that's on a Saturday. And Bella went to school on her birthday and on the day after.

Wait, doesn't Edward say his age in New Moon? He does!

And we know what year he was turned and how old he was when he became a vampire.

Some quick math. 1918-17=1901. 1901+109=2010.

Wait, does the start of New Moon happen in 2010? Did Twilight happen in 2010?

Let's check Bella's birthday again. September 13 falls on a Monday in the year 2010. So she'd be at school on her birthday and the next day.

Riley's wanted poster in Eclipse (2010) also gives a clue.

Riley's birthday was changed from October 8, 1986 to April 10, 1990 for the movie. According to his missing person poster, Riley was last seen on Friday, May 21, 2010. And Charlie and Riley's parents have been searching for him for over a year. So, Riley must've been turned in to a vampire in 2009? And in the book timeline, Victoria changed Riley around a month after James's death. Is that the same for the movie? That would mean the Twilight movie, and the beginning of New Moon, takes place in 2009. But that math doesn't math with Edward's age. And doesn't fit Bella's birthday.

If the date that Riley was last scene coincides with the date Victoria bit him, then that works with the idea of Twilight happening in 2010. Riley would have been turned in May 2010 and James would've been killed in April. Bella's 18th birthday would fall on Monday, September 13, 2010. Then most of the rest of New Moon would happen in 2011. As would Eclipse and the Breaking Dawn movies. Which works out with the date printed on the wedding invitations.

But back it up to Eclipse for a minute. Rosalie's newspaper, the one she reads as Carlisle wraps Bella's hand/wrist. It's Friday, June 18, 2010.

This newspaper sets Eclipse in 2010. So the wedding invitations should have been dated 2010. Or the newspaper should be dated Saturday, June 18, 2011.

The movieverse timeline is pretty unclear, but I think there's enough to support that they mainly take place in 2010 and 2011.

What if Bella was basically Derek Zoolander? What changes in Twilight?

Derek Zoolander, for the uninitiated.

She doesn't pick up that Edward is a vampire.

At all.

In canon, Edward tries to protect his secret by not so subtly gaslighting Bella, "My eyes were always this color", "You hit your head, I was standing right next to you".

Isaderek Swanlander believes him.

Edward being unable to stay away, however, and wanting her to know his secret, keeps dropping hints that Bella either fails to pick up on or else she misses the point completely (I'm seeing a lot of "you sparkle? Wow, I didn't know animes were right about prettyboys").

In the end, he has to tell her he's a vampire.

She doesn't pick up on it.

"I drink blood," Edward says.

"Well, I drink pineapple juice, I think it's really nutritious. Is blood nutritious?"

"I want to drink your blood," Edward presses on.

Bella's eyes widen and she says "Oh, I get it now."

Bella does not, in fact, get it, but she presents Edward with a bottle of pineapple juice the next day and hopes she got it right.

She goes to Port Angeles with Angela and Jessica, who are tragically killed in an explosion because they frolicked around a gas station pouring gasoline on each other's and then someone lit a match. It was tragic, Bella was very sad and pouted a lot.

When James's coven run into the Cullens after the baseball game, Bella tries a softer and more catalogue look than the Ferrari or the Blue Steel, so she gives him the Tigre.

James still wants to eat her.

Bella decides to go hide in the last place anyone would expect to look: home.

(She actually meant her home in Forks, but when Edward and Emmett assume she meant Phoenix she agrees, that's even more smarter.)

James finds her, sends her the recording of her mother, Bella starts picking apart her phone trying to get her mother out, and James has to call again, this time he gives up and just tells Bella to meet her at the ballet studio.

"Okay," Bella says.

James isn't sure how he feels about this.

He gives her instructions on how to give the Cullens the slip and meet him, gives her the instructions again, gamifies the instructions, and ends up having to stay on the phone with her the entire time.

The entire time.

Edward can't get through to talk to Bella, because she's on the phone with James.

"No, goddamnit you idiot, tell them this is your mother!"

"I'm on the phone with James's mother?" Bella tells Jasper and Alice uncertainly.

James finally gets her into the ballet studio, and he tells her how he is about to kill her. Fucking finally, she was getting on his nerves.

Bella pouts sexily at him.

James walks towards her, looking very murder-y, and then-

True, unfiltered, inspiration the likes of which guided Leonardo's hand when he drew the Mona Lisa.

James freezes in mid-air, and when he hits the ground he doesn't move.

The Cullens rush into the room, and they too stop in awe to behold Magnum.

James can't believe he got foiled like this, and then the cops arrest him.

Bella goes on to discover her boyfriend is a vampire as well as what a vampire is, so she founds a school for vampires who want to learn how to drink blood good and do other stuff good too. When it's pointed out to her that the problem is learning how to not drink blood, she changes its name to "Bella Swan's School for Vampires Who Want to Not Drink Blood But Drink Animal Blood Good and Do Other Stuff Good Too".

"I have to think the Volturi are going to frown on that," - Carlisle.

"I used to frown at learning too, but then I learned that learning is important." - Bella, who can't read because there's no school for that.

Carlisle leaned against the counter and spoke thoughtfully, “‘I don’t relish the thought of killing another creature, even a sadistic one like James.’”

“'What if he kills one of us first?'” Rosalie chimed in, the annoyance in her voice clear. 

Edward stepped in, saying, “'I’m gonna run Bella south. Can you lead the tracker away from here?”

Carlisle retorted, “'No, Edward. James knows you would never leave Bella.'”

He trailed off as Alice added, “‘He’ll follow you. I’ll go with Bella,’” she reached for Edward’s arm and looked him in the eye, “‘I’ll keep her safe, Edward.’” 

As Bella and Edward said their goodbyes, Alice and Jasper threw belongings in the car. Carlisle, Rosalie, Esme, and Emmett planned on how to dupe James into following the false trail, while Alice and Jasper ultimately led Bella south to Phoenix. Bella got into the back of Jasper’s car, and Carlisle, Rosalie, Emmett, and Esme piled into the Jeep; both vehicles turned over their engines and took off, headed in opposite directions. 

If all went according to plan, Alice, Bella, and Jasper would be in Phoenix long before James realized it was a wild goose chase. As Jasper sped along through traffic, Bella was distracted by thoughts of Charlie and her mother; she pulled out her phone and dialed Rene’s number, but it went to voicemail. Bella spoke softly to the recording saying, “‘Hey, Mom. It’s me again. You must have let your phone die…or something. I’m not in Forks, but everything’s okay, and I’ll explain it later.” Satisfied with her message, she hung up the phone.

As Alice, Bella, and Jasper settled into the hotel room, Bella found herself suddenly overwhelmed by the entire situation, and she couldn’t fight it as tears filled her eyes. In an instant, Alice was at her side, saying “It’s going to be alright, Bella. This plan will work.”

Bella sighed and leaned her head on top of Alice’s, her empty gaze fixed beyond the hotel parking lot, to the setting sun on the horizon. “Jasper needs to go down to the front desk for a while,” Alice said softly, “would you like to lay down? I can stay with you until you fall asleep, if you’d like,” she bore a soft smile as she said this.

“That would be really nice, Alice, thank you,” Bella replied, standing up straight. She kicked off her shoes and placed them neatly next to the couch, putting her socks neatly inside of them next; Bella walked to the closest bedroom she set her eyes on, pulled off her jeans, and placed them neatly on the chair in the corner of the room. Her steps light, she padded over to the bed and pulled back the covers, wrestling them from their perfect folds; arranging the pillows just how she wanted them, Bella crawled into the plush hotel bed, and as she settled into a comfortable position, Alice joined her in bed.

Nobody spoke, Bella just lay there, enjoying the familiar presence of Alice’s cool body beside her. Alice, thinking Bella was asleep, moved to get up. “Please, don’t go,” Bella cried softly. Alice moved back to where she was and opened her arms to allow Bella to get closer. Bella gazed up at Alice’s golden eyes, “Thank you for staying here with me,” she said, moving slightly closer to Alice.

What if the Cullens (maybe initiated by Edward/Alice) had immediately ripped James and Victoria to pieces on the baseball field?

Would it be the same timeline as if they had simply never met or like in a previous ask where they kill both J&V instead of just James?

I mean, yeah, with James and Victoria both dead and Laurent running wherever and never looking back, everything that would have followed from James or Victoria wouldn't have happened.

Bella's birthday party would go on as scheduled and Edward would dump her for the same reasons as scheduled. While Edward when on his own wouldn't have an excuse to hunt Victoria, so probably wouldn't have ended up in Rio, he likely still would have left the family to be on his own as brood (as ultimately, he'd left to both stop Victoria and stop being so depressing around the family).

The big change is the wolves, without Victoria and Laurent hunting around the area, trying to sus out if they can get their hands on Bella, we may or may not get the mass changing we did in canon (as it is, I'm not 100% sold on the theory that a vampire's presence alone does it when the Cullens stayed for years and only Sam turned and only when they left did a billion people turn. Could be that we need vampire violence or could be it just... happens sometimes...)

If Jacob doesn't change it means that his and Bella's friendship progresses without the hiccup of his becoming an angry wolf man (which mean that it goes well but only so well because Bella refuses to talk to him about Edward/what actually happened/believes Jacob isn't in the know). It also means that when Bella jumps off a cliff (which likely would have happened with or without Victoria as she kept escalating ways to see Edward) Jacob may not be able to save her not being on patrol/not being fast enough to dive into the water after her even though he had to shift once in the water.

Regardless, if he doesn't save her, then Edward kills himself in Volterra and there's nothing Alice can do to stop it as there's no Bella to throw at him, she's truly dead. If he does save her, then Alice sees that Bella's alive after all, and Edward never gets told any of this while Alice fumes.

Bella would then likely rebound on Jacob, as she showed signs of doing after the cliff diving where she finally admitted the Cullens weren't coming back and it was time to try to move on, and Edward, whenever he does return as I believe he would, would be very ambivalent as Bella's there dating a human like he always wanted, Jacob Black seems like a very standup guy who truly does want to protect her, BuT hE isN'T EdWaRD and ShE's FoRGotTeN EdWARd LiKE She pRomIsed!

TL;DR James and Victoria are important to the plot insofar as they are a catalyst for Jacob turning and then Bella's attempted suicide being thwarted/the results unseen by Alice.

Otherwise, they kind of change nothing in terms of Bella herself.

Twilight Fancasts of Main Cast + Opinions

This is mostly based on my last Twilight fancast post I made, which was just Bella, Edward and Jacob. I've decided to think of more actors to add in the mix, might have to make separate posts for all the characters, though.

Bailey Bass as Bella Swan

Jun Shison as Edward Cullen

1. If bro can play a kitsune in a human's body I'm pretty sure he can pull off Edward. We just need to know if Jun Shison speaks English.

2. Also, Edward needs to be an evil dick just because of vampire reasons. He needs to be mysterious and in a good way, not the way the movies portrayed him awkwardly.

Dakota Beavers as Jacob Black

Don't make him cut his hair, and he needs to be Native American.

Also, get rid of the whole imprinting thing if they're just going to make it gross.

Julia Rehwald as Alice Cullen

I read short hair and small frame, and I thought of her.

Evan Rachel Wood as Rosalie Hale

I found out she was around 16 when playing Tracy from Thirteen, which might make this fancast iffy since I'm using her teenage self for the gif, considering the other actors I fancasted are 18+. But I remember watching the film and thinking that she looked like she would make a great Rosalie, which is ironic since Nikki Reed also starred in Thirteen. I know she's quite old, but I think we should find a look-a-like that looks like her younger self.

Tanner Buchanan as Jasper Hale

1. I was trying to find handsome but creepy blond actors. Wasn't really able to find any, so bare with this. I think Tanner could manage being mysterious and creepy.

Chosen Jacobs as Emmett Cullen

1. I remember reading some human version fanfics of the main characters, and in some of them Emmett would be Bella's older - and sometimes twin - brother. With that in mind, if Bella's black/mixed, then Emmett is too because why not?

Antony Star as Carlisle Cullen

1. I think Carlisle's human body should be older, and thus also be played by an older actor. I know Antony Star doesn't have those same vibes that Carlisle does, but he does give off a stern exterior when playing Homelander in some scenes, and I wanna see that is Carlisle.

Emmy Rossum as Esme Cullen

1. I don't know what to think of Esme other than the fact that I know that she's taller than Bella and randomly gave some info that she lost her baby very soon. I figured she was older when she was turned, just like I envisioned for Carlisle, but somewhat looks very young (I mean, a person is still young even if they're in their thirties).

Wood Harris as Charlie Swan

1. I'm looking for old head vibes. Man from the old hip hop vibes. "Guy that listens to Tupac regularly" vibes.

2. Also, let Charlie be a temporary supernatural hunter that protects Forks.

Zahn McClarnon as Billy Black

James is described to be very plain looking, despite the fact that he had the vampirism that was supposed to make him look more appealing, so I was thinking about The Deep whilst reading the book.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Laurent

I think Edi Gathegi really stood out as Laurent, more dark skinned villains please.

2. Since Laurent is hinted to come from thanks to his accent I decided to pick an actor that is from New Orleans. I don't know why, I just decided to. Maybe I memorised some kind of misinformation about there being French speakers, I don't know.

3. If they really do make a Twilight remake and they toss Laurent to the side I'm actually gonna be so mad, because Laurent's appearance was promising, and then they chose James' boring arse.

Sophie Skelton as Victoria

I loved Rachelle Lefevre's performance as Victoria, so I want that same vibe of "seemingly innocent but clearly has a hidden agenda/motive". I know it's been a while since she's been in any films (from what I know), but I think she can pull it off. Since Laurent is hinted to be French I think it would be great that they let her be British when playing Victoria. (There's no they, but play along.)
