thinking about âwho did this to you?â and frat!boy rafe đ€ his girl is always at his frat house and one night at a party, heâs looking for her and canât find her. He eventually finds her crying and maybe with light bruises on her wrists or something? protective frat!rafe đ„°
rafe cameron x fem!reader | hurt & comfort | (creepy guy, wrist grabbing, bruising, protective!rafe, mentions of anxiety, sort of shy!reader,)
 âč  ïżœïżœâĄà§  âč 
The lights were giving you a headache. Topper thought it was funny to repetitively switch the main light on and off, to try and give the room a rave vibe. Most people inside were too fucked up to be annoyed by it, but you werenât. Youâd only had two vodka cranberries, and honestly all you wanted to do was crawl into Rafeâs bed and go to sleep.
During the majority of these parties youâd be glued to your boyfriendâs side, hanging off his arm like a trophy, but tonight was different. You were trying to branch out more, stop being so anxious at these things. Rafe loves a party, and being his girlfriend you should as well. So, for the last hour youâve been roaming around; making minimal contact with him.
You left the main room with a huff, rubbing your temple as you walked out into the hall. There was no-one in sight, and you let out a sigh of relief that you had a moment alone. You sat down on the floor, leaning your head back against the wall. The door to the bathroom opened and a boy, one you hadnât seen before, walked out.
âYou alright?â He asked, looking down at you in amusement.
âIâm fine, just takinâ a break,â you explained. You didnât want to speak to him, but it would be rude to send him away; especially with the mission you were on tonight.
âMind if I join you?â He questioned. You didnât even get to respond, he was already sitting down next to you. âIâm Parker, by the way.â You introduced yourself, shaking his outstretched hand. âAh, youâre Cameronâs girl?â
âYeah,â you smiled, just the mention of him had your mood lifting. Maybe you should just give up with the outgoing thing, maybe you should just go and findâ
âYou donât seem like his type.â The statement caught you off guard, all thoughts leaving your head as you looked at him with furrowed brows.
âWhat does that mean?â You wondered, trying to sound calm.
He let out a hum, as if deep in thought, before shrugging his shoulders and giving you a smirk. âRafeâs, like, into all this shit, yâknow? Parties, drinking, drugs. Youâre sat in the hallway alone.â
âOpposites attract,â you shrugged back, picking at the pink nail polish on your nails.
âThat is the saying,â he laughed, running his fingers through his hair. âI just think maybe, a pretty girl like you, deserves someone thatâs more like her. Someone that would sit with her in the hallway, for example.â
You thought he was degrading you, like the rest of Rafeâs fanboys usually did. But, you realised now that wasnât the case. He was your fanboy. You let out an awkward chuckle, looking to the door that hadnât opened since you stepped out. You prayed for someone, anyone, to need the bathroom.
âIâm gonna head back inââ you decided to screw the anxiety, and just do what was necessary.
âWhy?â He interrupted. He didnât sound quite so friendly anymore. âWeâre hanginâ out, donât go in yet.â
âI need to find Rafe.â You tried to stand, but his fingers gripped onto your wrist to stop you. You winced in pain, his hold only tightened. âGet off.â
âNoââ your prayers were answered as the door opened, a drunken couple came stumbling through. The sudden interruption had him letting go of you, and you swiftly rushed away.
You ran upstairs, through the corridor of boyâs bedrooms, until you reached Rafeâs. With tears in your eyes, you pushed open the door and laid down in his bed.
It only took ten minutes for the door to open again, you flinched; thinking that maybe Parker had followed you up here, but you let out a shaky sigh of relief at the sight of Rafe.
âHey, baby. There you are, been lookinâ all overâ are you crying?â He interrupted himself, walking over to sit on the edge of the bed.
âNo,â you blatantly lied through your tears, voice coming out muffled.
He wrapped his arms around you, wiping your tears with the pads of his thumbs. âHey, what happened? It get a bit overwhelminâ? You could have told me, you know Iâd much rather sit up here with you.â
âNot exactlyâŠâ you reached up to move your hair from your eye-line, you realised your mistake the moment that gentle look in his eyes dropped.
âWhat is that?â He grabbed your arm, not harshly but forcefully. Your wrist had turned a bright red colour, bruises would be forming soon enough.
âNothing!â You squeaked out, trying to pull your arm away from him.
âDonât bullshit me. That wasnât there earlier. What happened?â He demanded to know. You knew he was serious, the look in his eyes and the tone of his voice.
You gave in, tears rolling down your cheeks as you explained to him what happened with the boy. He stroked over your wrist, a moment of silent going over the two of you before he leant forward and kissed your temple.
âGet changed, put on a movie. Iâll be back in a minute, okay?â He murmured softly.
âWhereâre you going?â You asked nervously, you were pretty sure you already knew the answer.
âTo sort out that fuckinâ kid. No one puts their hands on you, get it?â He stated, pecking your lips before getting off the bed.
You didnât argue, there was no point. Rafe was too in love with you, if someone hurt you heâd do just about anything to get payback.

DICK GRAYSON ââ .âŠ
Heâs always caught off guard but loves it. Your bluntness is a breath of fresh air for Dick, whoâs so used to diplomatic conversations. You say whateverâs on your mind with zero filter, and heâs like, âOh, wow. Okay. I respect it.â
Hates it when you donât hold back with him. Heâs used to being the charming, funny guy who makes everyone laugh, but you hit him with a âThat was dumb, donât do that againâ and his brain short circuits for a second. âYou canât just say that!â âWhy not?â
Finds it hilarious when you wreck other peopleâs egos. You have zero time for anyoneâs nonsense, and when someone messes up, you let them know. Dickâs in the background, trying not to laugh. âDo you not think before you speak?!âŠâ Heâs always acts so shocked but hey, heâs kinda enjoying it unless itâs aimed at him. (He canât fight verbally for the life of him without saying some cringe shit)
Doesnât even try to change you. Dick knows what heâs getting into, and he loves you for it. Heâs never going to ask you to âtone it down.â He actually finds your unapologetic attitude pretty hot.
Heâs 50% worried youâll get into trouble, 50% impressed. But in the end, heâll always back you up, saying, âSheâs just honest. Get used to it.â
JASON TODD ââ .âŠ
Finally, someone who speaks his language. Jason lives for the fact that you donât care what people think. He loves how blunt you are, especially when you cut through the BS with the precision of a sharp knife.
Gets protective when people try to push your boundaries. If someone dares disrespect you, Jasonâs the first one to step in. âYouâve got a problem with her? Youâve got a problem with me.â, âJason that was so fucking cringey..â
Appreciates that you don't sugarcoat things for him. Youâll tell him exactly how it is, whether itâs about his attitude or a bad decision he made, and he respects it, itâs like the tt sound where âthatâs when it hit me, it was the best idea I ever had..â but like this: âNot gonna lie, that was a terrible plan, Jay,â and heâll just nod. âFair.â
You guys have the most chaotic, weirdest conversations. Itâs a mix of witty banter, ridiculous one-liners, and deadpan sarcasm. Other people canât even keep up with the energy.
The idea of dating a âgood girlâ never appealed to him anyway. He thrives off your unhinged energy. Youâre unpredictable, and it keeps him on his toes, which he loves. âYeah, youâre definitely not boring.â (Although the thing is he does love innocent people, like if youâre like gen clueless he wants preserve your innocence.)
TIM DRAKE ââ .âŠ
Timâs brain canât keep up with you. Your blunt, no-nonsense attitude constantly makes him blink in confusion. One minute youâre casually roasting someone, and the next, youâre giving a straight-up critique of his latest plan. Heâs learning that he canât outthink you.
He admires your unapologetic honesty. Tim has a lot of internalized doubts, so watching you casually reject anyoneâs judgment is a nice contrast. You donât apologize for your thoughts, and itâs something he secretly admires.
Constantly second-guesses himself around you. Your sharp tongue makes him want to be as confident as you. He gets nervous about saying anything that might sound soft, so when he stumbles, youâre like, âWhat was that? I swear you just whispered something.â And heâll blush hard, muttering an apology.
You both have a sarcastic sense of humor that others donât quite get. You say something outrageous, and Tim will respond with the driest remark possible. People in the room often wonder if you two are joking or just genuinely a bit rude.
Not scared to call him out. When Timâs too nice, youâll be like, âYou need to stop letting people walk all over you. Grow some teeth.â Tim wonât admit it, but that does motivate him to be a little bolder.
DAMIAN WAYNE ââ .âŠ
Damian is a bit taken aback at first. Heâs used to people being respectful or like seeing him as kinda a role model, so when you come out with a âThatâs dumb, donât even talk to me right now,â heâs not sure how to handle it. He will stand there, blinking, while processing your bluntness. (Heâs too stunned to speak đ)
Genuinely respects your forthrightness, though. âIâll admit, I have never met someone so⊠honest.â He starts respecting you even more, thinking youâre someone he canât manipulate or charm easily.
Loves that youâre as stubborn as he is. If youâre determined about something, thereâs no changing your mind. Youâll fight for your opinions even if it gets you into a heated debate. And Damianâs right there with you, arguing like itâs the most fun thing in the world.
Tries to match your bluntness. âYou talk too much,â he says one day, and you immediately reply, âAnd yet, here you are, listening to every word I say.â Damian actually pauses for a second, impressed. âRight..â
Loves how youâll shut down his critics with zero hesitation. Someone says something disrespectful to him, and youâll be the first to shoot back, âHe doesnât need your advice, trust me.â Heâll give you a proud little smirk. âI like the way you handle things.â
BRUCE WAYNE ââ .âŠ
At first, Bruce is a bit disconcerted by your bluntness. Bruceâs the kind of guy who expects people to be formal and classy, and you just come in with âThis entire meeting is a waste of my time. I donât care about any of this.â He blinks, then quietly admires your bravery.
Totally respects your unfiltered honesty. Bruce has had enough of the worldâs games, so when you donât bother to pretend or hold anything back, itâs like a breath of fresh air for him.
Secretly loves when you donât play nice." He knows you're not afraid of saying what you think, and when you call him out on his brooding or overly protective behavior, he listens. âYouâre right. Iâm sorry for not trusting you more.â (He totally doesnât have a tracker on your hair clip..đ„°)
You both have moments of pure savage honesty that no one else gets. Thereâs no need for filters, and youâll both exchange one-liners so dry that it leaves everyone else in the room confused.
Finds it endearing when you make his plans more interesting. âThis is ridiculous. Why are we doing this again?â You snap at him in a room full of his board members, and he just gives you a look that says, âIâm never apologizing for you.â

thanos looks up from his food, his eyes lighting up when he sees you "señorita?" he tilts his head, "i don't have any other group to eat with.." you say, looking down at your feet, "nooo! i know what it is!" he nudges nam-gyu's shoulder, "you're here for more aren't you?" he says with that smirk again, dramatically gasping. "what..no.." you weren't like that, you swear! nam-gyu laughed "shit, she's just using our bodies, man!" you quickly shake your head "no!" nam-gyu tilts his head "when did you learn to say no?" thanos stands up, getting closer to you, "listen here, beautiful, we'll do whatever you want, sure.. you're the one in-charge." he smiled 'innocently', leaning in to whisper in your ear "c'mere after lights out, kay?"
nsfw below.. (â â§â âœâ âŠâ )/
"you really are a fucking whore." thanos quietly whispers into your ear as he slams in and out of you, your back pressed against his chest, your moans being muffled by his hand, it was a good thing thanos' bed was closer to the ground and that the players above him were already dead, but you know the other players could still hear the faint squeaking of his mattress. "of course you'd listen like a slut, coming here, infact, you were excited for this. hmm?" why DID you go there anyway? ..maybe it did feel good? but poor you! his thrusts weren't giving you any mercy at all.
"i bet.. you don't have any shame at all. you're quietness is just an act.." nam-gyu whispered aswell, with his body infront of you, his hands exploring every inch of your skin, painfully pinching your nipples and biting your neck as you rub your hand in and out of his cock. "you're practically begging for it." "n-n.." you couldn't speak back because of that purple-haired addict's hand!
"wait.. fuuuck, you're sucking me in like crazy, you're gonna cut my dick off, god." thanos whined, putting in two fingers inside your mouth, the taste of his fingers all over your tongue.
"y'knoww.. so fucking funny how she's volunteered to be our personal ..stress toy." nam-gyu's hand find it's way to thanos' necklace filled with ecstacy, he grabs a pill, his attention back on you "we truly thank you for that.. are you proud of your services, freak?" he says mockingly just to spite you, his other hand grabs thanos' hand muffling your mouth. "let go, dude." "she's gonna scream," "nah, nah, she won't. she doesn't wanna die does she?" you whined, shaking your head. "good, slut." nam-gyu smiled, taking the pill he had in his hand and putting it in his mouth. thanos' takes off his hand, his middle and ring finger covered in your saliva as he now places it on your clit, rubbing sloppily. and before you could make any noise, nam-gyu slams his mouth against yours, making you swallow the pill of ecstacy. his tongue tasting your mouth, swallowing each moan escaping your lips. nam-gyu pulls away from your mouth, forcing it to open just to spit inside.
with all the pleasure they were giving despite the mean words, you camee:( your legs were shaking like crazy! "hey! no fair, bitch! i didn't get to cum yet." thanos was frustrated, yet you whimpered in response, you didn't mean to cum!!. "but.. just means we'll be here for muuuuch longer, baby. ya' can't complain, you know you're a whore who can't live without us." thanos didn't lie, your cunt was throbbing and overstimulated by both of their cocks in and out of you. he also didn't lie about how you wouldn't be alive without them, it's true, they saved you anyway, guess you gotta thank them for keeping you safe. âĄ

SHOULD HAVE KISSED YOU
Pairings: Eddie Munson x Fem! Summary: when made to participate in a school fundraiser, Eddie finds himself actually having fun. Warnings: none
Prequel here!
âââ ââ
ââ
â âââ
âââ ââ
ââ
â âââ
"Mister Munson, you have to be a part of this school!" Principal Higgins exclaimed to the boy sitting on the other side of the desk, protesting
"I've been apart of this shitty school for 6 years" Eddie hummed lowly
"what was that?" the older man raised and eyebrow, his hands on his hips as he looked down at the rebellious teen in front of him
"what do you want me to do?" he got in response
"Miss Kelley is holding a fundraiser- u-an auction, of sorts.. you'll be participating"
Eddie frowned "an auction? what you want me to go up and hold items for people to bid on?"
"you'll be the item"
Eddie scoffed "what's that supposed to even mean?"
he stared at the principal and almost laughed, was this a joke? he fails a few times and is now being punished
"it means you'll go up and girls will bid on you- a date with you"
oh Eddie definitely laughed at that, does he think he's funny? he must because that was the funniest thing Eddie's ever heard
"yeah, right" he snorted
"Mister Munson, do you want to graduate this year?" Higgins asked rhetorically.
this wasn't a joke, this was serious
"what's a stupid fundraiser going to do to help me graduate?!" Eddie raised his voice before looking away when the man scolded him
"well, lucky for you, Edward, this school will do just about anything to get rid of you-" The older man started before getting cut off by Eddie
"-How flattering" he hummed
"-so, we'll be granting you with extra credit if you do this, and if you get at least a C in Miss O'donnells, it will be enough for you to graduate" the man finished, crossing his arms
"what type of fundraiser activity is that anyway! I'm no help, I can assure you no body is bidding on me, Higs" Eddie rolled his eyes
"well, lucky for you, you don't need to be bidded on to participate, just showing up is enough"
"this is ridiculous" Eddie mumbled, slumping down in his chair
there was no way he was going to do this.
"oh please, Mister Munson, It's not the end of the world, just a simple date to the fun fair is the most you'll do" Mister Higgins shook his head, deciding this was the end of the discussion.
he shooed Eddie out of his office after telling a few simple details about the night he should be ready for
"and please, have some school spirit" he said before closing the door behind Eddie.
âââ ââ
ââ
â âââ
You sat in the school gym with your friends when Miss Kelley announces the boys up for auction
you had already seen the list a week prior and and had no interest, unlike your friend, Becky, who was more than excited to bet on a handsome mister Mike Lewenski.
your opinions on the fundraiser were mixed.
although a great way to make a few bucks, it was more of a way on telling which girl liked who. but even so, if they won the guy, it's a free date without the definite rejection most of them would face if they had just asked the guy out
so, while it saves a few rejections here and there, and could be seen as a trial run for a relationship, it's also a pit of thirsty women who want to dig their teeth in to a free date with a cute guy, especially if it's Gary McKlaren.
so to say you were the least interested was correct, but you were open to any changes if proven wrong.
The boys walked in the Gym single file and lined up behind Miss Kelley
you snorted at the sight of Eddie Munson 2nd last in line
you had browsed the list at least 3 times, you think you'd notice his name on the paper on the notice board. he must have been a last minute addition, which is pretty smart if you look at how many girls there are in school ready to bid.
but Eddie Munson, the freak? were they having a laugh?
you'd spoken to the guy a max of 5 times this year, he wasn't actually as bad as people made him out to be.
you weren't friends though; you wouldn't go that far. you'd be metaphorically killed if you were associated with him, so God forbid that ever happening.
Eddie huffed, looking out to the Gym seats.
he'd rather be doing anything else right now other than being at school, on a saturday afternoon, ready to be humiliated in front of what looks like 100 girls he's never spoken to (and doesn't plan to)
he frowned at the outfits the other boys had dressed up in, adorned in button up shirts and trousers, some even had a bowtie around their necks.
He mentally shook his head at the effort, because as they all dressed up fancy, like the organisers of this stupid even told them to, Eddie was still dressed in his normal attire, Black jeans and a dio shirt, his leather jacket hiding the cut off sleeves Eddie had fixed it up with. it's not like he was here to impress anyway
he would be here for 30 minutes max before driving back home alone.
"lets bring up our first boy of the evening, shall we. Toby Glover, everybody!" Miss Kelley claps.
She went on to describe the boy, hobbies, likes and interests before looking out to the crowed
"starting the bid at five dollars!" she smiled before a girl put her hand up, then a few others
Toby was baught at 20 dollars to Tracy Dekert.
then the next boy was up. Dylan Mantella.
it took a few seconds for a girl to put her hand up. but then another one did.
Dylan was bought for 10 dollars by Gracie Moore.
Jason Carver stood tall as he took a step closer, immediatley being bought by Chrissy for 5.
Then it was Mike Lewenski.
"He likes to play Football and the band Queen" Miss Kelley smiled
Becky's hand flew up as soon as the teacher announced 5 dollars, and glared at the girl on the other side of the bleachers when she outbidded her
"15!" Becky yelled out before the other girl said "17!"
they went back and fourth a few times before the other girl huffed and ran out of money
Mike was bought for 23 dollars by Becky, who cheered beside you
Then it was Gary McKlaren.
Miss Kelley didnt even get to describe his hobbies before a bidding war broke out. at least 10 girls fighting for him
yeah, he was popular. it made sense
Gary was bought for 50 dollars by Denise Weller.
Brian Gibley was bought for 5 dollars
Matthew Schneebly was bought for 25 dollars
and then Thomas Smith stood there for a few moments
that was when 2 girls put their hand up
you weren't sure if that was out of pity or they were just too shy to put their hand up, But Thomas looked like a whole bunch of weight lifted off of him when he was bought for 8 dollars
"now we have the...lovely Mister Edward Munson!" Miss Kelley announced, she looked nervous as she said his name, trying to find a praise but had to lie through her teeth
Eddie stood forward and clicked his tongue, looking out dully to the seats of girls and young women.
"E-Eddie likes um- Metal music? and uh- is a owner of a club" she spoke, she didn't know anything about Eddie, only that he was a satanist.
"5 dollars?" She announced with a tight smile, looking out to the crowd
you looked down at Eddie from your seat
his hands were in his pockets, he definitely didn't want to be here, but you could tell by the silence in the room he was...insecure?
you looked around the room, did no girl want him? did no girl see anything in him?
surely there was one girl to look past the scary demeanor of his figure and see something to like, but the only thing to hear was an awkward cough
you frowned, you felt bad, you really did.
Eddie looked down at his feet when Miss Kelley spoke into the mic "no bidders?" she asked as if she didn't know no body wasn't going to buy him
you closed your eyes and slowly lifted your hand.
it was just because you felt bad
"oh, we have a bidder! 5 dollars going once, twice, SOLD!" she banged her gravel on the wood. surprised.
Eddie munson was bought for 5 dollars. by you.
âââ ââ
ââ
â âââ
Eddie was surprised when you put your hand up.
but Eddie was very Surprised to see you walk up to him afterwards, a smile on your face, a tight one, he knew it wasnt real
"hey" you greeted
Eddie looked at you confused, like you had grown two heads or that something was wrong with you, but he replied nonetheless
"hi" he said
you looked around the hall, seeing the floods of single girls walk out of the hall, glaring at you with the same look Eddie had a second ago.
"so um-" he licked his lips, sighing
"we don't have to go on the date.." you spoke in a rush, looking back at him
of course, Eddie thought to himself, of course you wouldn't want to go on a date with him
Eddie kicked himself for thinking you would for a split second.
"if you don't want to" he shook his head
this was awkward.
so awkward
"it's not that I.. don't want to. i do...but you- you probably have better things to do so..." you hummed, rolling on your ankles as you looked away from him
"I dont...and I don't want you spending money on me for nothing.." he mumbled sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck.
you were probably the first girl to talk to him, Willingly, without buying drugs- the first girl to be nice to him to his face.
Eddie doesn't get that often, or at all for that matter, so you were...special. you could say. to him.
you weren't friends, you probably didn't want that. and he doesn't blame you, but it still hurts deep down, where he wont admit it
"it's fine.. it would be embarrassing to be the only person who didn't get bought so..."
yep, that was the only reason you bidded on him, you both thought to yourself
"yeah, I guess you're my saviour, then" he joked, though he didn't find any humour in it
Because you had told him you bought him out of pity, thats not funny or you being nice, thats just sad.
you agreed to the joke and looked around, the hall was empty now, all the girls gone, a few out to their date and all the rest on their way home, alone. some going to the fair with their friends.
"I'll uh- see you next week then?" you stepped back, going to walk away
"I thought you wanted to go?" he frowned
"i thought you didn't?" you raised an eyebrow
"eh.. i feel like i owe it to you, besides i think Principal Higgins and Miss Kelley will be there and if they don't see us- or at least me there, I won't get my credit cause i left you" he shrugged
that was it, it was just for the extra credit
"ok, sure" you nodded
âââ ââ
ââ
â âââ
you walked side by side into the fun fair, you were a little nervous to say the least but it's not like you were gonna be here for a long time
Eddie had said he owed you and just wanted to be seen, so he'd probably just say a quick hello to the principal and spend five bucks on a quick game before calling it a day
that seemed fair, though.
he brought you over to the little games with various toys hung on the wall
"you wanna play a game? i'll try to win you a bear or somethin'" he looked down at you, pointing to the stall where you shoot at a few cans to win
you shrugged when you met his gaze, his big brown eyes full of the bright colours from the lights flashing from the games, the yellows and reds illuminating his face as he turned to you.
he looked pretty good
"sure" you replied shortly, looking away from him, letting him guide you to the line.
his hands were in his pockets as he looked around briefly. it made you wonder if he wanted to be here.
but on the inside, Eddie was almost shitting himself, cause here he was, in the line of a game with you next to him. this was a date, unadmittably his first date- if it even counted
and it's not just because it's a date, it's because it's with you, the only girl- bloody hell- woman that's ever been nice to him. to look at him like he's not a freak who sold his soul to the devil.
and God, did you have to look so pretty good?
he looked away when you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear and stepped forward, it now being your turn
the guy spoke enthusiastically, explaining the rules as Eddie picked up the fake gun.
you took the time to scan over the plush toys, the big bat hanging upsidedown from the roof of the stall made you smile.
you smiled at Eddie as he lifted the gun to his face, squinting his eyes before shooting his first shot.
your eyebrows raised at his shot, impressed as you stood beside him
Eddie lowerd the gun, putting another pellet in the gun when he caught your gaze, looking over at you awkwardly
you blinked and smiled tightly at him before looking away "did- sorry did you want to shoot?" he frowned, now noticing that he should have let you play- or at least asked you
"oh no, it's ok I uh- I don't know how to shoot a gun" you breathed, letting out a dry chuckle
"it's pretty easy, here" one of his hands let go of the gun to each out for your own hand.
you let him take your hand and you tried to hide the blush rising quickly on your cheeks, looking away as he pulled you closer
he stood behind you, his broad chest against your back as he instructed you, you held the gun with his hands over yours, his arms wrapping around your frame to help you
"Just look through this little hole right here." he pointed to a little circle on the top of the gun, and you slowly raised the gun to your face, quinting to look through the hole.
"aim it" he told you
you lined it up with the can and he took one of your fingers to place it on the trigger.
the feeling of his hot breath fanning on your neck sent shivers down your shine as it contrasted with the cold brisk air, but you were so hot right now.
did he have to be so close to you?
he waited a second before he pressed on your finger, pressing down on the trigger, shooting the gun.
you closed your eyes as the loud bang and the feeling of him pressing up against you. Why did you like it?
"ahh good try, you just grazed it" Eddie spoke, mumbling something that you couldn't here before you opened your eyes
you could see a little dent in the can but it hadn't toppled over or fallen, signifying a miss.
you shoulders dropped and your frowned, looking over your shoulder to see Eddie smiling softly
"you'll get it this time" he reassured you, lowering the gun
you shook your head "i'll let you do it, you obviously know what you're doing" you flushed, smiling before stepping to the side to get out of his hold
it was then when Eddie realised that he was manhandling you and his eyes slightly widened. Had he made you uncomfortable? he really hoped he hadn't. he dropped his hands and let you slip away from in-between him and the gun and looked away sheepishly
you finally felt like you could breathe as you let out a deep sigh you didn't know you were holding
why was he making you feel this way?
Eddie put another pellet in the gun and shot it effortlessly before he put the last one in.
he didn't even flinch at the loud bang! noise it made when he shooted, or lost his footing, he was a natural.
you don't know what you expected though, he looked like the kind of guy who knew how to shoot a gun, he had that look to him
you didn't want to say it but- he did have the dangerous kind of look to him, but throught the few talks you've had with him, you would hightly doubt he would even shoo away a stray cat if it made home on his porch.
he put the final pellet in and aimed it before shooting it, you watched as it bounced off the bar and fall back to the ground.
you smiled and clapped when the guy announced a winner
"so..what will it be for the lovely lady?" he said looking at you as you stood forward.
the long haired metalhead looked over at you, nodding to the wall of toys.
you opened your mouth, and your eyes landed on the bat again, pointing up at it "the bat?"
the man smiled and got the bat down, passing it to Eddie as you backed away to get out of the line, which was small but growing impatient.
Eddie followed after you and handed the bat to you.
"here ya' go" he smiled.
the bat was even bigger than it looked, bigger than your head, at least.
you brought it up to your chest and thanked him before walking awkwardly away from the stall
"you're pretty good with a gun" you said break the silence between you and him, the blush on your face appearing again as you looked over at him
"yeah? well.. my dad taught me when I was younger so... had a good teacher I guess" he let out a breathy chuckle, kicking his feet.
of course. everyone knew the stories of AL Munson. so your weren't surprised when Eddie told you he made him go hunting with him before he got sent to prison
"made me shoot more than just tin cans.." He shighed
you hummed, walking towards the enterance before Eddie stopped you
"Where are ya' going?" he asked, a deep frown covering his features as he looked around
you grew confused too "I- I thought we were leaving?"
Eddie's face dropped at your words, looking down "oh. I mean if you want to. I just thought- I- I was kinda havin' fun. with you so..."
Eddie was having fun with you; it wasn't a lie. he didn't want to leave just yet, he wanted to play a few more games and if he got lucky, get to know you more. he doesn't know exactly why but he knew he liked being with you tonight
but it's probably because it's either this date with you, or a lonesome date between him, his couch and a cold can of beer.
you stepped back to him and smiled "I am too... I just thought- but yeah, let's go"
the sky turned dark as Eddie and you played a few more games and shared a fairyfloss stick.
you were having fun, laughing and getting embarrased when you got shoved closer to Eddie when a few kids ran past you to the rotating tea cups.
"sorry" you mumbled, stepping away from the metalhead as he tensed up at the contact.
"'s'okay" he smiled, noticing the way you hugged the bat plush in your arms
it was night time- and winter. So were you cold?
so he asked you "d'ya want ma'jacket?"
he frowned when you shook your head quickly "no it's ok, don't worry"
you felt your cheeks grow hot again as he began taking his leather jacket off, exposing his biceps arms that were adorned in dark tattoos.
the bats caught your eye.
you had seen them before, of course, but they made you frown
you looked down at your bat plush toy and hid your face in it sheepishly
when it caught your eye, you didn't know why you were drawn to it the way you were
it reminded you of something, but at the time you picked it, you just couldn't pinpoint it
but now, looking at his tattoo, you realised it was that and you grew embarrassed, did he think you wanted it because of him? well technically you did- no, no you just liked it...right?
"it's ok, really" you shook your head as he handed it out to you
"Please, I don't want you to be cold" he pleaded
he was such a gentleman, you don't get why people did see that, there was something clearly wrong with society to shut out this beautiful specimin of a man like him, he's just so kind and gentle. no- snap out it.
you squeezed the fluff of your plush as he draped it over your shoulders, smiling
"what about you?" you wondered
he only shrugged "m'fine" he looked down, putting his hands in his pockets "as long as you're warm"
you chuckled softly as you looked around
"ferris wheel?" he asked after a beat
you looked to the ferris wheel and nodded "sure"
you let him guide you and you smiled as you got the line
the fair music filled your ears as you slowly moved up the line.
the line was pretty long, trying to see the lights from above and the kids thinking they can see the whole town from the top. they were wrong but let kids be kids, you thought.
when you reached the front, you stepped up and Eddie quickly handed the guy a few coins, letting your guys on. you sat down, your bat plush sat on your lap as the guy pulled the bar down, letting it click before leaving you with Eddie in the closer proximity
your shoulder to shoulder with Eddie when it began to move. going backwards
you looked over at him and smiled sheepishly before looking away
he cleared his throat before pointing to the bat you were cuddling
"do you like bats?" he questioned
you looked down and shook your head
"no..not really. I just thought he was cute" you shrugged
he hummed "have you named him?"
you giggled "no, not yet" you looked at him, finding a teasing smile on his lips and you furrowed your eyebrows.
"I don't- It might be childish, but I don't have a lot of them..." you soft quietly, fiddling with your fingers as the ferris wheel went up again
"No.. I.. I don't think it's childish.. I have a uh- I have a bear on my bed.. Ozzy... so. it's cute" he nudged your shoulder softly
you smiled, still a little embarrassed but it made you feel better that he admitted that.
you think it was cute.. that he of all people slept with a teddy bear, you feel as though you've learnt a lot about him today
it's almost like this wa a real date.
it made you hope he thought it was a real date too.
"do you..like bats?" you pointed to his swarm of bats tattooed on his arm
he looked down and nodded
"yeah I guess.. it's more of that they are seen for good luck and uh..protection.. I guess" he mumbled the last bit
you raised your eyebrows "really?" you tilted your head
"yeah.. don't know where i found that but I though i needed it so..."
"cool" you nodded
his eyes met yours again and you saw his adams apple bob in his throat as he looked at you
your bench stopped at the top as fireworks began exploding in the sky, painting the sky in all different colours, but you didn't look away from Eddie, for some reason, your eyes stayed on him
the sprays of colour reflecting in his eyes as he looked back at you. you wonder if he could see the fireworks in your eyes too.
"thank you, for today.. I've had fun" you spoke, wanting to ease this tension in the air.
"Yeah.. I've had fun too... with you" he said
you didn't know what was happening. why butterflies filled your stomach and made you feel sickly.
Eddie was shitting himself again, the look in your eye made him so weak he was happy he was seated. you looked so pretty in this light. it almost made him want to thank Mister Higgins for making him do this. but after this, he woudn't have any reason to talk to him unless it's to tell him he'd be graduating.
he can't explain how he felt in this moment, but all he knew was that he really wanted to kiss you.
but you don't want to kiss the freak? no matter how many times you've told him you don't see him as one, that's what he is, what he always will be.
Besides. You did this out of pity, right?
Amd it's not like he likes you, right?
but all Eddie can think of as he forces himself to look away is that he wants you to like him
he wants to know why he feels this way, why the burst of colour in the sky wasn't the only fireworks in the air tonight.
he had taken you home after that, sadly saying goodbye as he drove you home, the only sound in his van being the metal music he set to low as he thought about how much of an idiot he is.
all while you had felt completley embarrassed, and if you're going to be honest, a little angry, though you're not sure why
you wanted him to kiss you, but why? you didn't like him like that, this was just because you felt bad
but you wanted him to like you.
I should have kissed him, you thought as you walked into your home.
I should have kissed her, Eddie thought to himself as he drove off.

JUNO : spencer reid
synopsis ; a slow day in the bullpen leaves the team recreating the viral sabrina carpenter tiktok trend in a fit of boredom.
includes ; spencer reid x fem!reader, the team ( mostly derek letâs be real ) teasing spencer, suggestive language, flustered boy genius.
âsweetness, if you donât turn that damn phone down,â
derek scolded from across the bullpen, the tiktok audio on your phone distracting him from procrastinating.
âsabrina carpenter, right?â
emily spoke up, nodding your direction once sheâd taken in the sound.
âthatâs the âhave you ever tried this oneâ thing, right?â
you nodded, turning your screen towards her. it was a funny take on the trend, a girl making a fist with the caption âwhen my boyfriend pisses me offâ with the iconic line in the back.
apparently thatâs all it took to get derek on side.
âhold on now, ever tried what exactly?â
âitâs a line in her song juno, itâs a sex joke.â you clarify, locking your phone and abandoning it back on the desk.
from the corner of your eye you see spencer squint in confusion âi donât get it..â
derek lets out a loud laugh, earning a glare from both you and emily âof course you donât, pretty boy.â
âthe singer says the line and does a . . . pose.â emily explains vaguely, obviously expecting spencer to catch on.
he doesnât.
âyo, reid,â derek calls with a grin âyou ever try this one?â he sends a wink in the others direction, acting like he was twirling a lasso as part of the bit.
both you and emily laugh, understanding exactly what morgan meant. however, your resident genius is still left none the wiser.
â..that doesnât really clarify anything..â spencers tone is apprehensive, like heâs really trying to get the joke but itâs falling flat.
âprentiss, we all know about your little sin to win weekends,â derek teases, nodding toward spencer âmaybe a real life girl will help him get it.â
emily scoffs âgod no.â you think her rejection is going to be as straight forward as that, but you could practically see the lightbulb above her head when her eyes land on you âhow about a real life girl his own age?â
derek speaks up before you get a chance to protest, seeing your reaction and anticipating your response âcâmon, princess, iâll even do half your filesâ
thatâs all the persuasion you need, besides, it was all in good fun. no harm, no foul. right?
you thought for a minute, trying to decide what would be the least inappropriate thing to do before standing, taking a little over half your case load and dropping it onto dereks desk.
trying, and failing, to keep your giggles to yourself, you looked across the bullpen at spencer who had been watching your every move.
âhave you ever tried this one?â as you quoted the song, you leant over your desk and sent a wink your coworkers way, trying your best to not join in on emily and dereks laughing.
finally, it clicked, and spencers face turned a bright shade of red. his eyes flicked around the bullpen in an attempt to stop his mind wandering, but it wasnât really working.
âpretty boy, i never seen you speechlessâ derek taunts, finding great amusement in his friends flustered state.
thereâs a beat of silence from spencers side of the office before he clears his throat and shuffles awkwardly in his seat. looking anywhere but at the rest of you.
âyeah, i get it now.â
âoh, we know.â emily teases, flicking a rubber band his direction.
youâre still leant over your desk, only now your face is buried in your hands in an attempt to dampen your fit of laughter.
âdo i even want to know?â
hotchâs voice from his office door snaps you all back into serious work mode, you stumble over yourself to get back into your seat.
âdonât worry about it, sir.â

When It is said that Young Dick Grayson is seriously a consummate professional part of that means that as a kid, at least in the early years, c. age eight to, say, fourteen, he doesnât hide his injuries from Bruce when Bruce directly drills him for an Accounting (âRobin.â) after each closecall or before every drive back to the cave. He def does start lying about it later so he can just continue stretching himself very thin and also because he becomes embarrassed that he gets hurt bc he should b better (I CHOOSE TO BELOEVE) and this is part of what sets Bruce off and sort of starts to corrupt their trust when DG is an older teenager but thatâs all later bc they establish the trust first. And so The first time DG gets shot he handles it extremely calmly, quietly, undramatically, but upfrontly with exemplaritĂ© because thatâs the way u must act to earn Bruces trust. And also he has pain management techniques so Bruce does the âRobinâ thing that like means Report or Account and Dick is like âThrough & through to the left shoulderâ while not crying or writhing or whatever but also not being SO TENSE but holding it together calmly and not denying it BUT OBVIOUSLY INTERNALLY HURTING but not showing that and so this makes Bruce who is himself PANICKING calm down a little and Bruce is impressed by this because Dick is enacting the correct procedure and being very upfront. Like very professional. Like OK i trust u. And similarly although it is a good plot point for angst, in actuality Dick as Robin seeing his first like bloated corpse or dead bodies on the street or gruesome crime scene doesnât really outwardly react and keeps it very exactly right and professional with the right mix of gravitas in the moment while going back to being playful and light as soon as itâs appropriate to do so and this also very much impresses Bruce too. he also does not exploit Bruce being truthserumed. He never asks questions of Bruce he jsut retrieves him and gets him the antidote ir back to the cave or whatever and the truth serum thing happens many times and then one day Bruce is truth serumed and Dick isnât and Bruce can tell Dick is about to ask a question, and not just any question but dick is working his way up to the courage to ask a Serious Meaningful Question, and Bruce internally is maybe in that period where heâs beginning to realize how much Dick means to him and what role Dick is beginning to take for him and he is like so sick with agony about it but dick just asks like: âDo you think Iâm funny?â or something and Bruce is so incredibly caught off guard like âof courseâ and dick has a very serious but inscrutable sage nodding with narrowed eyes reaction to this and thatâs the only time dick asks Bruce something under the duress of truth serum but bruce like thinks about it and cannot figure that moment out

the question is who taught lucanis to knit. was it something he already knew how to do or is he picking it up over the course of the game as part of his 'if I manage to cram enough hobbies in there I won't have to sleep again ever. easy' experiment. did he learn it out of a book (as a sometime knitter, a horrifying thought but I wouldn't put it past him). as hilarious as I find the mental image of caterina with knitting needles I do not believe in it, did he pick it up from someone in the household staff growing up the same way he did cooking. is the sweater he wears with his introductory armour his own work (very funny if so it's just so. incredibly neutral toned and sensible.) I understand why he never does it on screen because animating knitting is the devil's own work and bioware were right to dodge right past it no one should wish themselves that kind of pain, but do you think off-screen he's using it the same way davrin does whittling during team meetings and book club nights (for real the grandmas were so right for this: knitting during social group situations is a neurodivergent life hack like you wouldn't believe if doodling isn't your thing/isn't doing it for you). it's that or sharpening his knives and some people seem to get a bit nervous about that so he mostly sticks to the knit one purl one of it all. does he make things for the team. for romanced rook perhaps. boring but useful things like socks and scarves, to be clear. I think mr. 'I made you a cake (cautiously marital intent)' would not mean to impress just make sure your feet weren't cold jogging around the heights of athim killing darkspawn. knitting more socks for harding so she won't get cold walking around everywhere in her fereldan *checks notes written on palm* clogs. some of taash' outfits... you think rook and lucanis are letting them walk around the anderfels like that without at least a token sensible scarf on even tho adaari are built different in terms of body temperature. I say no not in my lighthouse they would team up and mother hen them to shathann levels before they'd let that happen. (the scarf has dragons on it taash thinks it's kind of cool actually.) a bobble hat for manfred not because he really needs it but because he wanted to feel included. assan indignantly tries to steal it and fly away with it so he gets his own scarf to promote peace between the lighthouse little guys and it works. help.
#lucanis sitting there with his scariest coldest most focused eyes and people going 'hey are you... are you alright there?'#and him looking up like 'hm?đ„șđ§¶oh yes I'm just counting'. it's canon in my heart.#he's just like me frfr in a variety of ways that are really funny fhdskja. I paused on knitting a sock to write this out#dragon age#dragon age: the veilguard#dragon age: the veilguard spoilers#dragon age spoilers#lucanis dellamorte#he overtakes my neurons in such a unique way from time to time I don't even write these things The Truth is just channeled through me#*head in my hands* I love all these characters so much. especially him but all of them. imagining what each of them might like to get#like would bellara want something for an experiment and not so much to wear. do the wisps playfully unfurl anything neve leaves around#for inscrutable reasons of their own. does lucanis make a sweater with something rude on it for davrin. like 'asshole' in antivan#'it's our word for 'warden' :)' 'uh-huh' (davrin still wears it all the time as a pure powermove to be clear)#(im crying 'cover them up warden we're going to lavendel. also happy birthday or whatever' as he tosses the sweater#directly into davrin's cleavage)#I spent most of this day quite unhappy. and then i thought about this for a while and now I feel a lot better#maybe there is joy for me in the world after all. I'll leave the possibility open another day

a couple of people have asked for a carlos POV of in theory and actually. thinking about it. it's pretty funny. imagine being carlos, carlos who gets everything in his life he's ever wanted carlos, carlos who feels he has nothing further to prove to anyone carlos (this is a lie btw), carlos who gets saddled with OSCAR, who barely tolerates him, as an executive assistant.
oscar who shows few emotions. doesn't give a f about seniority. thinks carlos is incredibly arrogant (he's not wrong here but, like recognises like.) oscar who knows carlos can't even do his own expenses without having an emotional support espresso or spending half an hour whining to oscar even though he did it himself years before oscar even joined, etc etc.
and carlos has to. endure it. while oscar blatantly ignores his charm offensive and his attempts at being jovial and his bad bilingual puns and carlos, because everyone usually loves carlos, and he-- he just. he cannot for the life of him figure out why he's also so compelled by this australian dude. doesn't know what to do with himself. just keeps interactions to a transactional minimum and puts up a front like he is soooo curt and uncaring about everything but. the warmth seeps through anyway, a vine that's destined to grow despite his attempts not to let it.
so what, if carlos lies awake in bed with racing thoughts too late at night thinking of revenues and EBITDA and platinum tiers and air miles. so what, if this sometimes bleeds into thoughts regarding his work-life balance or lack thereof, and therefore, oscar's stupid little hair swoop, his frown. his insane excel sheet formulas that even carlos, MBA graduate, takes a second to understand. oscar and his indifference and his scary efficiency and the way he talks a bit too fast when he's tipsy and his ice cold hands.
(at the christmas party with yuki. carlos pretends not to listen but hears every word. why would oscar tell yuki all that, and not him, when heâs tried to ask about oscar's interests before? anyway.)
and then. the christmas gifts happen and carlos thinks he's crossed a line. was the terrarium too far, he wonders. normally people love it when carlos is thoughtful like that. his exes even said so. but no! oscar takes the terrarium, the one carlos made a specific detour for on an airline that he couldn't even get miles on!
and oscar just. stares, and stares at the terrarium. then he gives carlos this...look. and it gets embarrassingly intimate and carlos "really does have to go take his call" even though the client did say it is fine to switch to email because, christmas. yeah. and then he's thinking about it the whole way back to madrid too.
then oscar QUITS on CHRISTMAS DAY (rude) for no explainable reason and carlos is like oh my god is it really ME. how can anybody not like ME ? reddit, AITA???
so carlos mulls on it. carlos wants to atone. just maybe. set things straight. let oscar know that. actually. all feelings aside, he was really an excellent EA and carlos wishes him the best with everything. he maybe sends a text to thank him with those very words. but christmas eve comes and goes, and so does christmas day, and there's no reply at all from oscar. what the hell, carlos thinks. no i can't have him leave and there's so much in my email that i â i didn't even say. he just. needs to let oscar know that he appreciated it.
(he doesn't know what "it" is per se. just that. he feels strongly. so he needs to do something about that.)
soooooo then carlos, who values for family more than anything in the world, spends christmas day just only half paying attention to things going on and thinking jesus, what did i do. and his sisters are like, hermano, please just. get it together and sort this out if you care so much. we'll be fine with mamå and papå and piñón okay there's roast ham for days. and his ma is like: "if you are visiting someone at least pack some dessert. where are your manners". and carlos is like "what". and his mum is like: "did i not teach you anything at all. are you or are you not a sainz". so carlos just takes his tiramisu and his sister's teasing and. he goes. might even try to pull a favour from a client to use a private jet and get there in time.
he flies back to the city in a fit of possible stupidity to try and clarify... his feelings for oscar his professional record and integrity.
and then. oscar is. actually HAPPY he is there.
(carlos knows he's happy, not because oscar's face changes. but because oscar puts his actual plant shears down in order to talk to him. which in oscar-world is a very big deal really. before, oscar always used to look like he wanted to stab carlos with a pen when carlos spoke to him. and if carlos were truly honest with himself, and hindsight being 50/50, wellâ he'd say that actually, the times oscar looked like he wanted to stab him were actually some of the moments he felt most alive.)
and the rest is... well.
you know how it ends.
#carcar#so. confession: i wasn't actually sure about carlos's POV for this fic at all. tho i knew he was an active participant obviously#and to be honest i went with oscar's POV for efficiency since i was working towards finishing it by the 31st#but this might just be the bones of it.#also i have not ever written carlos's POV before đ so this is a first!!#will i write this snippet out in full? idk? maybe not? but. here you go for now for like the 2 or 3 people who were interested#[in theory] fic#i typed this while procrastinating at work and somehow it's now... 900 words

au where gabriel uses the peacock instead of emilie, and she's the one left with two miraculous and a child
she inherits the gabriel brand. it's her brand now, ppl have to know it or it doesnt count, but changing name and logo isnt great for business-- people want to buy gabriel, not emilie, so the g is now for graham de vanily. she and adrien change their last names to match, and soon she is cleaning them from gabriel entirely, before his death can stain her as gabriel's emilie, rather than just emilie. she needs them to love her. she cared for gabriel, but she has no use for a husband who can't love anything anymore
she starts dating nathalie to finish cutting all ties with him. it isnt really fair on her, emilie just needs her to tell ppl she's moved on. but it's good to know she's beaten gabriel in one more bid for devotion
its funny. she never resented him much in life. in death, she notes he has more billboards than her up in the city. her billboards now, but theyre his. in death, she sees him over her shoulder in her mirror. she gets cast as a grieving widower in her next performance. she gets the hint. she seizes the hint and throws it out the window. she takes the role and pushes for more agency for her character. she cannot be truly loved without her agency
speaking of. adrien doesnt get to go to school. he follows her around most days, and he smiles when she asks. he never took to the stage, but he's an actor in his own right, in his own way. and he's hers.
and it's not enough. nathalie's love grows lazy as emilie breaks up to cause a scandal. they script it out themselves. nathalie watches adrien out the window. emilie kisses her to turn her gaze back. adrien is always in the garden. she tells him to come inside. she tells him to love her. it used to feel less hollow.
she wishes she could be sure it was all true
she wishes.
she wishes, and nathalie is warmer when they have a mission, so emilie know this is the right thing to do. they know what they have, and what they need, for a wish
emilie transforms, and makes a monster of someone's love
suddenly, the whole world is watching
two girls come out with the cat and ladybug. adrien is safe at home. two girls come out and they're heroes and they're here for her. for her!
nooroo loves her. nooroo says that, at least. she could care less, busy in the glory of her enemies' company, drunk on magic, having the time of her life with a purpose reborn. this is where she is meant to be-- centre stage, on every screen. they set their phones to notify them of her presence. it's always a surprise and they're always quick to know. the news loves to see what she makes. nathalie says she's straying from her goal, if she cares. the people say she's a monster. they just don't understand love
in the end-- in the end the heroes practically offer themselves up to her. there are more of them by then. she wasnt expecting it to be so soon, or she would have dressed for the occasion. would have made a spectacle of it. adrien had been dragged into their circle. they chose a bad miraculous for him. she shouldn't have let him stray from his mother
they're just tired of her. it's been a year and emilie graham de vanily is a recluse. butterfly attacks are constant and emilie barely exists anymore. it was beautiful, though. but they're tired of her. they're sick and they hurt and it's her fault, they say. they're breaking and it's her fault. that's love, isn't it? isn't it? it tastes beautiful. she built this all out of love, do they know that? the feelings just look so heavy and pretty and she's so good at making them hurt.
we're tired, they say, again
she takes their miraculous. she gets to her wish. what did she want to wish for again? love. she wanted love.
she sees gabriel again. it's been too long. she didn't like that love. when it left she had nothing. he was everywhere, and-- he was nowhere. she doesn't think about that often. but it hurt. she didn't like that love
does she want real love? she had a family and one's dead and one's a traitor and one's torn and one's in england and who the fuck knows what happened to the rest of them
the spotlights were good, though. she danced so well. the heroes are all still watching. they want to know what she wants. they're interested.
in her.
she wishes. she wishes for it to never end
so it never does.

Question:why is Jerk Ford like this? From what I understand nobody seemed to have bullied him at all so did he just come out of the womb and thought "I'm gonna be a menace to everyone and everything"? That would be so funny-
There's a lot of reasons why the other Fords hate Jerk Ford.
Like, a lot of reasons. You don't get called "Jerk Ford" for no reason.
But one of those reasons is that any given version Stanford Pines is going to be defined by his scientific curiosity, and interest in finding the answers to mysteries.
The frustrating thing about Jerk Ford? They cannot, for the life of them, figure out why he's such a jerk. There's no real answer and they hate that.
Nothing particularly bad ever happened to him compared to other versions of himself. Bill didn't traumatize him, he got over any feelings of betrayal from his brother, he was mean to people before they could try to bully him as a kid, and Fiddleford never started a cult.
He's not even evil. He doesn't want to kill people, take over the world, or even be renowned in the scientific community. He just wants to be a petty b***h to everyone.
And he doesn't lack empathy. No, he has empathy, but what makes him a jerk is that he chooses not to use it.
Guilt, doubt, shame, and fear are just words to him.
Canon Ford? Canon Ford hears about him for the first time and asks himself "Surely he can't be that bad? He's just another me at the end of the day." And then it turned out, he really was that bad. So I don't think they would have interacted much. I do imagine this exchange happened, however:
Canon Ford: Why are you SUCH A JERK? Jerk Ford: This can't be the first time you've looked into a mirror.
A physical fight is possible; the MAB-3L dimension from Lost Legends showed several alternate versions of Mabel interact without destroying the dimension, so we're gonna act like 'you'll collapse the entire dimension if you interact with an alternate you' isn't a thing. However, Jerk Ford is a hater, not a fighter. His mouth is always writing checks the rest of him can't cash. Canon Ford could absolutely beat his a** if he wasn't so good at getting under your skin and escaping when you're too upset to pin him down.
And Jerk Ford has always been like this. He was like this growing up. He was like this straight out of the womb. Even as a baby he was a jerk, he'd be that baby who would cry on an airplane flight just to stop as soon as the flight ended.
Stan has never known his twin brother to be any different, he knows he's a jerk to everyone except him, so he tries to minimize the damage. He insists that even though Jerk Ford is an a**hole, he does care he just struggles to show it. But no one so far has believed him, not even their family.
Hell, the reason Filbrick didn't kick Stanley out this time around is because Jerk Ford told him "You know, without Stanley around, I don't have any reason to hold back."
"Hold back? You're the biggest menace in all of Glass Shard Beach, and you expect me to believe you've been holding back?"
"Are you going to take that risk, Pa?"
(He didn't take the risk, they'd been banned from so many places already because of Jerk Ford)

could u write an academic enemies to lovers for kenan yildiz pleaseeee
Do I wanna know? đŠč Kenan Yildiz !
summary. Youâd known Kenan since you were kids, youâd despised him since you were kids, and even know in college, youâoh. Maybe you didnât?
word count. 545+
disclaimers. banter / slight enemies to lovers due to rivlary
bea speaks! didnât even realize iâve had this in my drafts since september i am so so sorry??? and this is kind of open ending but wtv i need it out of my drafts asap
Youâd thought leaving your hometown for university would mean freedomâfreedom from him. Kenan Yizdiz. But, as if the universe found pleasure in your misery, Kenan had shown up at orientation day with the same annoyingly perfect smile, acting as though he wasnât the bane of your very existence.
Youâd known Kenan for as long as you could remember, but not in the way that was heartwarming. No, heâd been your rival since grade school. Always somehow always beating you in everything. The spelling beeâs and honor rolls. Everything.
So, seeing him on orientation day was⊠well, infuriating.
âFancy seeing you here,â he had drawled, leaning casually against the registration table as you signed in. âStill chasing my shadow?â
âMore like trying to escape it,â youâd snapped, not even sparing him another glance. âGuess I failed that too.â
Now, three years later, Kenan is still somehow everywhere. In your classes. In the library. Everywhere. Heâs still the same old Kenanâcompetitive, cocky, and stupidly good at everything he does.
But that wasnât even the worst part. It was the way his smug grin grows wider every time he beats you (which is annoyingly often.)
The final straw comes when you were both nominated for the same prestigious academic award for your class. Today, youâd caught him the library with dozens of books spread around his study table.
âYouâre really trying to win this, huh?â You ask, slamming your book into the table across from him.
Kenanâs gaze flickers up to you, unimpressed. âWhat gave it away, genius? The mountain of research around me or the fact that Iâm not out partying like a dog like you act like I do?â
Okay, attitude.
âHard work doesnât make you special, Yildiz,â you shoot back. âIt simply makes you tolerable.â
âFunny.â He counters quickly, leaning back into his chair. âI was just thinking the same thing about you.â
The two of you lock eyes, and for a moment something shifts. You were so used to the banter, the constant push and pull, that it takes you by surprise when his smug smirk.. softens?
âWhy do you even hate me so much?â He asks, voice dropping into a quieter tone, breaking the silent tension. âYouâve been acting like this since we were kids. Like I stole your puppy or something.â
Your posture straightens and you shift on your feet uncomfortably. âWell, Frank did run to you before me that once.â You scoff at the memory of your childhood dog and Kenan, âand, I donât hate you, Kenan. I just donât like losing to you. Thatâs all.â
The brunettes lips twitch into a grin, âIs that so? Because I donât mind losing to you.â
That.. well, it shut you up. Your eyes lock on his, stunned, while he gathers his books. As he walks past, he leans down just enough to whisper in your ear, his hot breath painting your cheeks a crimson red.
âMaybe if you stopped trying so hard to beat meâto dislike me, youâd realize we could make a really good team.â
Then he leaves.
Leaving you standing there, pulse racing, wondering what the hell just happened. And when did your agitating rival become someone who made your heart stutter.
Better yet, did you want to know?
likes, comments, and reblogâs are all appreciated. lmk if youâd like to be tagged in future posts.

#youre correct op but also#nononono i think kabru could Absolutely catch kira#like . gestures to kabru deducing laoisâs party being the ones to help them each time(? i may be misremembering)#and how he reads laois as not being Malicious when they thought each helpful encounters were thefts#actually having kabru and light meet would be really funny because its kind of like a mirror?#not exactly of course if it was then i wouldnt like kabru as nearly as much as i do#but its like. putting up personas to get info out of others (Maybe i am so sorry kabru. but thats true for light)#the internal monologues. trying to get into the mindset of whos around them. like on the surface level i feel like light and kabru would ac#t Exactly like each other first meeting- humble but smart and.. not nice but. well-rounded#the only trouble kabru would have would be proving it probably. but at the same time i feel like he could figure something out yknow?#i also wonder how he would feel about the kira case? like hes definitely killed people in the dungeon for crossing him and his team but he#seems to generally want to keep innocent lives.. alive. gestures to the utaya incident#would he think that the killings are deserved or would he think its Too Much- kira crossing a line in a way#its been awhile since ive read dungeon meshi so i . sont know#also to any kabru fans if i misinterpreted him please correct me. i enjoy kabru greatly its just been a While
You come over here, you. You get it (It's me op, reblogging here cause I got shy about rambling about death note) anyway
THEY ARE SIMILAR IN A SENSE BUT ALSO COMPLETE OPPOSITES
Both of them are "willing to crack some eggs" for the "greater good" but there's a massive difference in what this greater good is! For Kabru it is to stop a massive tragedy from happening again, he believes adventurers should be working towards stopping something like Utaya from repeating, he wants to find the truth about Dungeons and whoever is acting in self interest like the corpse retrievers is an obstacle he's willing to get over. For Light the "greater good" is "creating a world for people who deserve it" for Light there's objectively people with more worth and less worth than others, and he thinks of himself as the best person to judge who is who.
One of them is willing to sacrifice people to stop an immense tragedy from happening again the other one is willing to sacrifices people cause he feels like it's his right to do so! They're not the same!
Light hates humans even before he becomes Kira he would never do what Kabru does to save them, everything he says about creating a new world for good people is bullshit he spews for his own ego U_U
Kabru would be able to realize the hypocrisy of Kira right away like L and realize it's dangerous for someone like him to have that power (perhaps he would realize it would be dangerous even for himself to wield it, similar to being a dungeon lord)
Anyway like these replies said, Kabru would def make the Kira killings stop if he found Light, I wont count is as catching him tho, eliminating is not the same thing, bad Kabru, play by the rules (<3)
(oh yeah the difference is that "solving" the Kira case means proving it, I think that's harder than just knowing Light is Kira and dealing with him outside justice)
Now would Kabru be able to catch Kira? Probably not, but can you imagine? The amount of silent staring while thinking in actual death note is nothing compared to what that could be

Azel Radwan: Romantic Ending Ch. 25
Chapter 24 Premium Story
Thank you @shatcey for providing the video for this chapter!
âĄââââĄ
The death of the Tanzanite God would eventually become known throughout the continent. News of it even reached the distant Rose Country.
Clavis: ââThat's the gist of what happened.
Nokto: Wow, you guys saw something incredible. That's going to be a historical turning point for Tanzanite, isn't it?
Luke: Saying it like that makes it sound like a big deal.
Nokto: It is a big deal. The God who was the symbol of Tanzanite died.
Nokto: The fact that you were mistaken for Obsidian's agents is also a big deal in a way.
Clavis: Haha, indeed. Thanks to that troublesome man, we now know how other countries see us.
Clavis: Since the God was aware of it, we should assume that the other allied nations already know as well.
Clavis: Luke, you know what to do when you see that man next time, right?
Luke: Infinite pitfall hell?
Nokto: Don't say things like that, it's not funny.
Nokto: But I wonder why they were targeting Tanzanite.
Nokto: It can't be a key location for Obsidian.
Nokto: It's a land they'd want to keep if they intend to go to war with Jade, but that's all.
Nokto: There should be many other countries they'd prioritize...
Chevalier: They weren't targeting Tanzanite...
Chevalier: They were targeting Tanzanite "as well."
Nokto: ...Does that mean...
Everyone's scattered gazes focused on the Chief, who had placed some documents on the table.
Chevalier: By sowing distrust among the people and seeds of rebellion against the nation, they aim to cause internal collapse.
Chevalier: In Tanzanite, the God quickly noticed the anomaly and nipped it in the bud.
Chevalier: By becoming the leader of the anti-god movement himself, he brought the people who were given weapons under his control...
Chevalier: He settled the situation with the least amount of casualties.
Chevalier: However, this series of events is not something other countries can ignore.
Chevalier: There's a possibility that similar cases will occur in a chain reaction in various countries from now on.
Nokto: ...You're kidding, right?
Chevalier: The God letting us hear the gunshot was probably also a warning to our countryâno, to our allied nation, Benitoite.
Chevalier: Obsidian's malice has already been sown throughout the continent.
Clavis: Hmm...
Clavis, resting his chin on his hand, caught sight of Luke, who was narrowing his stagnant eyes in the corner of the room, and the corner of his mouth lifted.
Clavis: Well, whatever will be, will be. Leave the investigation of this matter to me.
Chevalier: And if the opportunity arises, arrange a meeting with the God.
Chevalier: A talent who can rival the ever-victorious Marshal is rare. He's worth meeting in person.
Nokto: What are you talking about? The God is dead, isn't he?
Luke: ......
Luke: ...Chevalier. There's actually one thing that's been bothering me.
Luke: What are the chances of accurately shooting someone in the chest with a gun from a distance with an audience present?
Chevalier: That's a foolish question.
The Chief picked up a new document and scoffed.
Chevalier: It's impossible.
-
The solitary castle, nestled deep within the desert, was filled with silence.
A vast number of "Al flowers" had been laid as offerings at its gates, their cloyingly sweet scent stirred up by the desert dust.
Akatsuki: It still has the same... desolate atmosphere.
Emma: It's actually quite beautiful inside.
I stepped on the sand, cradling fresh flowers in my arms, and passed through the gate.
The exterior looked the same, yet it seemed more desolate than before.
(I wonder if it's because the master is gone.)
Kamal: I don't think they anticipated this ruin either. To think it would still be actively used even after 1000 years.
Kamal: At first, it wasn't a place where people could live. The construction methods were ancient, so it was difficult to restore.
Kamal: But Azel is truly full of wisdom.
Kamal: Combining ancient techniques with modern technology to make it this beautiful, even the craftsmen were surprised.
Enis: It's not just the construction methods. He was knowledgeable in every field.
Enis: Even Prince Silvio, who left Tanzanite the other day, visits here regularly for his insights.
Kamal: He's truly my brother to be proud of.
(He was loved by everyone because he was the Living God, but...)
(He was loved because he was someone everyone could be proud of.)
Setting aside whether that was a good or bad thing for Prince Azel...
With the days we spent together vividly in my mind, I offered the Al flowers to the deserted temple.
Even though it's been quite a while, my eyes still hurt.
Kamal: You'll be leaving Tanzanite soon, right? Where are you going next?
Akatsuki: Ruby or Acroite.
Akatsuki: Wherever Emma wants to go.
Emma: I'm having trouble deciding.
(...This is bad.)
Perhaps because I was in front of the temple, my voice was weaker than I expected.
Kamal: ...Miss Emma.
Emma: Have you been to Ruby and Acroite, Kamal?
I covered up my troubled voice with a cheerful one.
Kamal: Yes, I worked as a mercenary in various countries for a while.
Kamal: Miss Emma, if you're unsure, would you like to hear your older sister's advice?
Enis: You're not an older sister, you're a grandâow!
Kamal: Did you say something, Enis?
Enis desperately shook his head as Kamal pinched his cheeks.
(Prince Azel's persistent cheek attacks were inherited from Kamal.)
Kamal: You want to hear it, don't you, Miss Emma?
Emma: Yes, please, I'd love to hear your opinion, older sister.
Kamal: What a good girl. Come here. Let's have a secret chat, just us girls.
Kamal removed his hand from Enis's cheek and started walking towards the temple.
When I exchanged glances with the owner, he nodded and sent me off with a "go ahead."
Entering the temple after a long time, I felt as if Prince Azel's voice could be heard from anywhere at any moment.
(Even though I saw his death with my own eyes.)
Kamal: You don't have to force yourself.
Kamal: No matter how much time passes, painful things remain painful.
Kamal beckoned me and sat down on the steps of the temple.
As I sat next to him, he let out a gentle chuckle.
Kamal: You fell in love, didn't you?
Emma: ...Perhaps.
(If he were a stranger, I wouldn't be suffering this much.)
(Every time I feel this unbearable pain... I think, ah, maybe it was love.)
(I never thought the love I longed for would be so painful.)
(...I wonder if it was good that I got to know it. Or if it would have been better to remain ignorant.)
Emma: That person... he was truly a terribly suggestive God.
Kamal: You know, even I thought it was unfair, watching from the sidelines.
Kamal: Even though he was so obviously into you.
(Kamal also saw him as being "obviously into me.")
Perhaps the only one who wasn't aware, or was pretending not to be aware, was Prince Azel himself.
Kamal: Even a merciful God can't normally live with a stranger of the opposite sex.
Kamal: Especially since Azel is the type to keep his distance from people...
Kamal: The moment he invited you to the temple, he must have already liked you.
Emma: .....
Kamal: Do you want to see him?
Emma: ...!
(If I could see him, of course I want to.)
(...Even if it's in a dream, I want to see him.)
Emotions overflowed, and my eyes teared up again.
I lowered my head to hide it, but Kamal gently patted my back, and I couldn't hold back anymore.
Kamal: I'm sorry.
Emma: No, I'm the one who should be sorry.
Emma: It's no use. I thought I had calmed down a bit...
Emma: ...It seems it will take a lot more time for me to accept it.
Kamal: .....
Kamal silently offered me a handkerchief.
I thanked her and accepted it, dabbing at my eyes.
Perhaps the ensuing silence was to give my heart time to settle.
(I can't stay like this forever, I have to move forward.)
(I know that, though.)
As if to change the mood, Kamal clapped his hands.
Kamal: Hey, Miss Emma. Have you ever received a request as a book merchant?
Emma: No, I've only helped the owner.
Kamal: Then, can I be your first?
Kamal: Actually, there's a book I want you to find in Acroite.
Emma: What kind of book is it?
Kamal: It's about ancient law, but it's an important document, so it's prohibited to take it out of the country.
Kamal: However, making copies is allowed. I want you to copy only the necessary parts, Miss Emma.
Kamal: Can I ask you, as a book merchant?
(The owner said I could decide where to go next, and that seems like something I can do.)
Emma: I'll gladly accept.
Kamal: Thank you! Actually, that law book is managed by Prince Matias.
Emma: Prince Matias?
Kamal: The first prince of Acroite.
Kamal: I'll snatch the national seal from Enis later and write a letter, so could you give it to Prince Matias?
(A letter with the national seal... That's a lot of responsibility.)
Emma: Understood. If I give it to him, will he lend me the book?
Kamal: Probably. Please give the copied book to my acquaintance in Acroite.
Kamal: Also, could you include an invoice for the fee?
Kamal: You can write any amount you want, so thank you.
(Keep moving forward.)
(That's what Prince Azel wants, so let's take the first step as a book merchant.)
I stood up, burning the scenery of the temple into my memory.
Emma: I'll do my best to fulfill that request.
-
âIn an ordinary mansion in an ordinary town in a certain country.
Kagari: ââIt seems it went well, congratulations.
Kagari: I prepared celebratory dorayaki. Do you want some too?
Matias: It looks the same as the usual dorayaki.
Kagari: The filling is different. Look, it's red bean paste and white bean paste.
Matias: There are such colorful bean pastes? The world is vast.
Kagari: It tastes delicious too. I supervised the making of it.
Matias: ...Maybe I should start respecting your enthusiasm for dorayaki.
Kagari: By the way, what's wrong, Heretical God?
Kagari: Usually, you'd be the first to greedily devour it.
Azel: ...Of course, I'll have some. The dorayaki Kagari prepares is delicious.
Matias: You seem absent-minded today.
Azel: Perhaps I'm feeling drained after finishing a job.
Azel: Thanks to your efforts, I was able to achieve my goal.
Azel: Let me express my gratitude once again.
Kagari: Ruby simply borrowed Tanzanite's military power.
Kagari: I was wondering about the soldiers from a country without war, but they were quite capable.
Azel: I did train them with care. It would be troubling if they weren't useful.
Matias: You were even meddling in the military?
Azel: Yes, national defense is also under God's jurisdiction. In fact, there's nothing that isn't.
Matias: ...You say it so casually, but your versatility is terrifying.
Kagari: Not only is he versatile, but he also gets results. Is he a genius?
Azel: No, a God... no, I'm not a God anymore.
Azel: Please think of me as an ordinary person who is slightly more capable than others.
Kagari & Matias: That's sarcastic. / How sarcastic.
Azel: To think that was sarcastic, the human world is troublesomeâno, it's difficult.
Azel: Well, it doesn't matter. It would be problematic to have those capable soldiers in my own country, so...
Azel: I'm glad you were able to take them in temporarily, Kagari.
Azel: Under the apostle's command, they could have become a major force in trying to prevent God's death.
Kagari: You're quite bold.
Matias: Originally, sending soldiers to another country en masse means weakening national defense.
Matias: Even if it was a measure to minimize resistance from the royal family and the apostle...
Matias: It's not a tactic you can take without confidence in the future.
Azel: I was confident about that. I'm good at seeing the guaranteed reality.
Azel: The possibility of Obsidian attacking Tanzanite is low, and it's not the right time for Jade either.
Azel: All the favorable timings aligned, creating this opportunity.
Matias: What happened to the apostle?
Azel: He's probably having nightmares right now.
Azel: He's a fanatic who will stop at nothing to protect his faith.
Azel: Even now, he hasn't abandoned his faith and is acting on the premise that God is alive...
Azel: But the utopia where all citizens are believers is gone. From now on, there will be those who don't listen to his words.
Azel: The weakening of faith means the decline of the apostle. It's a truly pleasant feeling.
Kagari: That's the Heretical God I know.
Matias: ...Based on what Azel said, it seems like a fitting retribution.
Kagari: But is there no possibility that the apostle will collude with Obsidian in the future?
Azel: I wouldn't say there isn't, but such trials are welcome.
Azel: The people of Tanzanite don't know how to fail.
Azel: It's my hope that they will overcome many great trials, learn from them, and make history.
Azel: I will lend my strength only when a crisis arises that they absolutely cannot overcome on their own.
Kagari & Matias: That's so like God. / That's God for you.
Azel: ...It seems that becoming an ordinary person is also difficult.
Matias: It's best to get used to it gradually.
Matias: By the way, I heard that you got shot in the stomach in front of the audience.
Kagari: Is that so? You seem fine.
Azel: Could you please not touch my stomach?
Azel: I just used this.
Matias: This bottle?
Azel: It's a sleeping drug, but it can temporarily suppress the pulse.
Azel: Thanks to everyone being so focused on the moon, I was able to take it openly.
Azel: The blood was colored water that I had prepared beforehand, so I didn't actually get shot in the stomach.
Azel: In the first place, I was in a location where it was theoretically impossible to be sniped.
Matias: So the gunshot in the report was a blank?
Azel: Yes. After that, I had my fellow doctor declare me dead, and once I got into the coffin, the disguise was complete.
Kagari: It doesn't seem like a big deal when you hear the explanation like this.
Azel: The important thing is not reality, but persuasiveness.
Matias: ...Even if you didn't actually die, you can't appear on the public stage anymore.
Matias: The people of Tanzanite should be grateful to you.
Azel: Not at all. I didn't do it because I wanted them to be grateful.
Kagari: That's humble for a greedy person like you.
Azel: It's because money isn't involved.
Matias: What are you going to do now?
Azel: Of course, I'll lend a hand to each of your goals, in accordance with the rules of our alliance.
Azel: The incident in Tanzanite is not the end, but the beginning.
Matias & Kagari: "........."
A sudden knock broke the silence that had fallen.
Matias: Excuse me, I have to step out for a moment.
Kagari: By the way, Azel, I've heard another rumor.
Azel: I don't know what you're talking about, and it's irrelevant anyway.
Azel: More importantly, Kagari, the dorayaki is waiting for you.
Kagari: About the girl you were infatuated with.
Azel: I-I can't hear you, I can only hear the dorayaki saying "eat me."
Kagari: So the rumors were true. I'm surprised.
Azel: No, that's not true, I wasn't infatuated, she was just a deterrent for women.
Kagari: Why are you getting so defensive?
Azel: I'm not getting defensive.
Kagari: You are.
Azel: I'm not.
Kagari: You are.
Azel: I'm telling you, I'm noâ
Matias: Are you children?
Kagari: You're back already? That was fast.
Kagari: ...Hm? Who's that behind you?
Matias: It's the woman who brought the document with the Tanzanite national seal.
Matias: According to the letter... Azel, it seems she was sent by your brother. He wrote that I should grant her an audience.
Matias: My subordinate came to ask for my judgment, as she's a sudden state guest, and I thought it would be a good time, so I let her in.
Matias: ...But judging by your expression, was that a mistake?
Emma: ......
Azel: ......
Emma: Wh... huh...
Emma: Eeeeeeeeh!?
-
The country of snow and law, Acroiteâthat was our next destination, the owner and I.
We went directly to Acroite on a direct flight from the port of Tanzanite, but just as I was about to carry out Kamal's errand, I was stunned by the person who appeared before me.
Emma: Prince Azel, you tricked me, didn't you?
Azel: ......
Prince Matias of Acroite and the red-haired man, perhaps sensing the atmosphere, quickly left the room.
I thought that I might have interrupted an important conversation, but I didn't have the composure to worry about that in front of Prince Azel, who was facing away from me and wouldn't look at me.
I stood in front of Prince Azel, who was standing by the window, put my hands on my hips, and looked up at him.
Emma: I cried a lot, you know?
Azel: ......
Emma: I really thought you were dead...
Azel: .............
Emma: ...My tears wouldn't stop... for a long, long time...
Azel: ..................
Emma: Waaaaah!
Azel: Hey, isn't that too much crying!?
When I deliberately raised my voice, even Prince Azel was startled and turned to face me.
Emma: Good, we finally made eye contact.
When I stopped pretending to cry and smiled, his already awkward frown deepened.
Azel: ...It was my fault, okay?
Emma: I don't feel your sincerity.
Azel: I'm so sorry.
Emma: ...Do you really mean it?
Azel: I do, I do.
Emma: ...You could have told me...
(...This conversation, his unapologetic attitude, it's all real.)
(The real Prince Azel is here.)
As sensation returned to my numb heart, the tears I had held back threatened to spill again.
However, the emotion behind these tears was different this time.
Azel: If I had told you, it wouldn't have been "goodbye," would it?
Azel: I wanted to die and part with you cleanly. That way, there would be no lingering attachment.
Azel: ...Mine.
Emma: Lingering attachment... do you have any?
Azel: .....
(So unrepentant.)
Emma: I have nothing but lingering attachment.
When I looked him in the eye and honestly conveyed my feelings, he averted his gaze again.
(But his ears are red.)
Azel: I told you in the beginning. Not to fall in love with me.
Emma: Are you allowed to say that? When you're the one in love with me?
Azel: Are you still saying that?
Emma: Yes, I'll say it as many times as I want, I'll tell you!
Emma: You definitely love me, Prince Azel.
Even if my eyes were deceiving me, I couldn't believe Kamal's eyes were deceiving him too.
If Kamal, who is closer to Prince Azel than anyone else, gave his seal of approval, then I wouldn't hesitate.
Azel: ...........................
Emma: It's no use sulking.
Azel: I'm not.
Azel: No matter what you say, I don't love you.
Azel: ...Go back. Pretend you didn't see me.
Azel: I'll strangle Kamal when I get back. I told him at least a thousand times not to tell you.
Emma: Unfortunately, I can't just obediently go back.
(Now that it's come to this, I want to make him admit it no matter what.)
(...Because of Prince Azel, I've been through a lot.)
I placed the bag I was carrying on a nearby table and took out paper, a quill, and ink from it.
As I sat down on a chair and started writing, Prince Azel, unable to ignore me, peered down at my hand from above.
Azel: ...An invoice?
Emma: Yes. First, the expenses for Kamal's request... and the mental anguish I suffered...
Emma: The reward for the success of that day's plan, plus compensation for various damages...
Azel: What are these "various damages"?
Emma: ...K-Kisses, hugs, and all that stuff!
Azel: Huh?
Emma: Subtracting my debt from this and calculating...
Emma: I think it comes to about this much!
I finished writing the invoice, imitating the style of the one he once presented to me, and thrust it at Prince Azel.
It was a masterpiece of an invoice, with zeros filling the entire sheet of paper.
Azel: You... can you even read these digits?
Emma: No, I can't.
Azel: Don't say it so proudly.
Emma: But I won't let you say you can't pay.
Emma: ...My heart is expensive.
Azel: ......
(Prince Azel bound me with debt, so now I'll bind him with debt.)
(I want a reason to keep seeing him.)
This was a first.
Never before had I met someone I enjoyed being with this much, someone whose absence made my tears flow endlessly.
His gaze, which had been fixed on the invoice, turned to me.
Azel: ...A dead god can't appear on the public stage again.
Azel: Unlike you, I'll be living in the shadows from now on.
(...That was the real reason he didn't tell me the truth.)
("Goodbye" was the best thing for me, in Prince Azel's mind.)
Prince Azel, who is now considered dead in the world, hasn't gained his freedom.
He'll probably have to keep paying the price for building the country's future for the rest of his life.
Emma: Then all the more reason why it's worth paying me.
Azel: Specifically?
Emma: I'll run a lot of errands in place of Prince Azel, who can't move freely.
Azel: That's fine, there are other people.
Emma: I'll even make delicious food.
Azel: ...I won't have any trouble with food even without you.
Emma: More than anything...
Emma: I'll teach you what true love is.
(Thanks to Prince Azel, the vague concept of love has taken shape and entered my heart.)
(I'm sure I can convey it to Prince Azel properly now.)
Emma: I'll correct your distorted perception of love and make you say, "My life was happy"!
Azel: .....
Azel: ...............
Azel: ..........................
After a long, long silence, Prince Azel snatched the invoice from my hand.
Azel: ...I'm just reluctantly accepting you to repay my debt.
Azel: Don't misunderstand.
(Prince Azel probably doesn't realize.)
Even though he's frowning, the corners of his mouth are twitching, unable to hide his joy.
Emotions burst in my chest, overflowing with love in various colors.
Azel: Oh dear... With this much debt, I'll be broke for life.
Emma: Poor you.
Emma: Ow... ow!
Azel: ââ...Don't run away until I've paid it all off.
I couldn't help but laugh at his muttered words as he pinched my cheeks.
Emma: Do you know what that's called in the world?
Emma: It's called "adorable."
Azel: .............
Azel: ...I know that much.
(Ah, he admitted it.)
Azel: I've been cursed. By you, of all people...
Azel: I hate emotions that can't be explained with logic.
Azel: But I love you. Damn it...
-
I feel like I had a dream once.
???: Not all love ends in a comedy.
???: Why do you yearn for love?
There wasn't any special reason.
There wasn't any special motive.
It didn't go beyond pure admiration, and I didn't have any deep thoughts on love.
(But if I were asked the same thing nowâ)
The dream I saw repeatedly changed on the night I reunited with Prince Azel.
Azel: I've seen your dream a few times, but I never thought it would change this much.
The immature space that only had buds was now surrounded by a multitude of roses, and the sky that was covered in night had transformed into a clear blue sky.
The sweet scent of roses tickled my nose, and happiness flowed into my chest.
(If dreams are a mirror reflecting my heart...)
Emma: Burn this into your eyes.
Emma: Because this entire space is probably my heart, which loves Prince Azel so much that it can't help itself.
Azel: ...Please stop.
Emma: And look at this.
I grabbed Prince Azel's arm, which had appeared in the dream world as if it were natural, and led him to the oak table.
There wasn't an unfinished book there, but a rose encased in a glass dome.
The fresh rose was partially crystallized, sparkling in the sunlight.
Emma: It's the most beautiful rose in the dream world.
Azel: ...Is that so?
Emma: I wonder what it means.
Azel: Don't ask me. This is your dream.
(...The rose in the glass dome resembles the rose that tells time, which I saw when I was a Belle.)
(That one was a rose that showed a time limit, but the rose in front of me is crystallizing.)
(If this crystal covers everything, it might become a rose that never withers.)
(I wonder if my current feelings will remain in this form forever.)
(So that means...)
Emma: This must also be my love.
Azel: ......
Emma: Don't I love Prince Azel too much?
Azel: Don't say it yourself.
(What I've been longing for all this time.)
(...It's a unique emotion where happiness and pain are two sides of the same coin.)
Just as beautiful roses have thorns, love doesn't always bring only happiness.
If I hadn't known love, I wouldn't have spent days with swollen eyes from crying.
Although I'm glad that Prince Azel is alive, if I had never seen him again, that pain would have tormented me for the rest of my life.
(But...)
Prince Azel's expression is reflected in the glass dome.
The gentle smile directed at me would surely turn into a frown if he turned around.
So I didn't turn around, pretending to admire the roses and savoring the moment.
(There are many kinds of love.)
(In Tanzanite, I learned for the first time that love can turn into violence.)
(If the true love I envision is to continue wishing for the best for the other personâ)
(Perhaps as long as the person I love is by my side, we can give each other "the best life" possible.)
(Maybe that's the true nature of what I've been yearning for.)
Azel: ...Ah.
As if finally noticing his expression reflected in the glass dome, Prince Azel awkwardly looked down.
Emma: It's alright, I already noticed.
Azel: ...What's alright about it, damn it.
Even as he cursed, Prince Azel didn't shake off my hand.
Perhaps it's because he thinks it's "the best for me"â
Azel: ...Sigh.
Emma: Why are you sighing?
Azel: I'm just disgusted with myself.
Azel: When and where did I go wrong? I wasn't supposed to love you, not one bit...
Azel: I strayed from the path, this is the worst.
Azel: ...The fact that I don't hate it, that's the worst part.

Excessive Force : Tom Ludlow x Fem Nurse Reader (COLLAB W/ THE INCREDIBLE @johnwickb1tsch) - Chapter Map Twenty-Nine
TW: violence and harassment against women, police brutality, nsfw, pda
The week goes on, with no official news from the LAPD about your break in. Tom assures you itâs no great surprise. Heâs running his own inquiries, and if youâve lost your faith in the system, you believe in him. You clean up your apartment a little bit, and find a little optimism in the fact that this hotel room actually has bigger windows for your plants.Â
Tom babies them, handling the delicate stems tenderly, watching and mimicking the soft way you arrange their leaves, carrying the pots as gently as he carries you. He catches you watching this with abject fascination and admiration, and grins as you look away, flushing, caught in the act of falling more in love with him.Â
Needless to say, you are surprised when Tom asks you to go to a party on Friday. Heâs laying on your tummy, using it as a pillow while you both giggle at a funny movie and mindlessly shove chocolate and popcorn into your faces.Â
âItâs for my boss to meet you,â he says, âfor the case.âÂ
âWhat do you mean?â you ask, not quite understanding.Â
âSometimesâŠwe get jaded as cops. We shovel a lot of shit. But putting a face to a problemâŠit helps it get solved, sometimes.â
âOh. Ok.â You understand all too well, how you start to guard yourself when you work an emotionally taxing job involving people at their worst, their most vulnerable. It does all start to run together, after a while. Maybe it shouldnât, but itâs the human brainâs way of defending itself from the overload.Â
âI thinkâŠâ he goes on, playing with your hair. âIt might help, if he sees what you mean to me. Youâre the only girl Iâve been serious about, sinceâŠmy wife.âÂ
You close your eyes at hearing that, as if you werenât already head over heels enough for this man. All the love you feel for him stews with guilt for the thing youâre going to have to do on Saturday, and you canât stop the welling of tears in the corners of your eyes. âOk,â you agree again, somehow speaking past the lump in your throat. âWe gotta put on a show or something?âÂ
Tom grins wickedly down at you, his light touch making its way down to trace the neckline of your shirt. It soothes you, somehow, makes the gnawing demon inside quiet down, even if just for a little while. Itâs going to be ok, you tell yourself, even if deep down you know youâre lying.
âNah, baby. All we gotta do is show up. The rest is obvious.â You take his paw of a hand, kissing his palm before holding it over your heart.Â
Itâs going to be ok, you tell yourself again. Youâre going to get through this shitstorm, and then the two of you are going to live happily ever afterâŠ
You tell yourself this, because if you donât, youâre going to start crying again and youâre not going to stop until they sedate you in an institution.Â
***
Your first thought, when you snake up the winding mountain road to Captain Wanderâs aerie of a hillside mansion looking out over the glittering lights of L.A., is âGoddam, do cops really make this kind of money?âÂ
You know heâs management and all but Jesus Christ, you thought only movie stars and drug dealers could afford to live up here in the Hollywood Hills.Â
The place is bumping, and a line of cars are parked outside, clogging the narrow road. The parking style looks amusingly familiarâyou suppose Tom is not the only LEO who just puts his car wherever he wants. You wonder what Wanderâs well-heeled neighbors think about all this. Maybe they know their complaints will be ignored tonight.Â
He can tell youâre nervous, judging by the way heâs got his arm around your shoulders snugly and his side molded to your own. âYou okay?â he whispers, leaning down to kiss the top of your ear.Â
âNever been betterâŠâ There are a lot of people here, and they all seem to know each otherâŠtalking and laughing and hanging out on the back deck with the fancy string lights and the big metal tiki torches illuminating their celebration.Â
You hobnob in, doing your best to mingle and shake hands and smile and let Tom lead you around to meet his coworkers and their plus ones.Â
He pops you sparkling champagne and grabs himself a beer from the mini fridge, and you actually start to settle in a little bit with some liquid courage and the niceties of strangers. A nurse that works the third floor at your hospital is here, and that makes you feel ten times more welcome. Her husband is a senior detention officer in Tomâs office, and while you talk and laugh with his wife about healthcare antics, he and Tom awkwardly stare at each other and try to discuss work.Â
âSee?â Tom says, nudging your shoulder and handing you another tiny champagne bottle. âYouâre doing just fine, pretty lady.â He leans on the back railing with you, looking absolutely long and delicious in denim and a silky button down, and once again you have to stop yourself from climbing him like a feral squirrel.Â
Out for his nuts.Â
The thought catches you off guard, and you choke on laughter.Â
He raises his eyebrow at you. âI was right.â
âWhat?â You chuckle, hiccuping into the back of your hand.Â
He gives your ass a covert squeeze, making you jump and gasp. âYou are a little weirdo.âÂ
âTom!â You slap his bicep, lightly, and he pulls you against him just a bit too close for social gathering standards, but you donât care, because pressed against his hips with his arms around your waist, looking up at the light clogged night sky, is exactly where you ought to be.Â
He grinds against you, and you stifle a moan-giggle into your arm. âHave another drink, y/n,â he teases, mouth pressed against that thin piece of tender flesh behind your ear.Â
âShutup, meathead.â You grin up at him, twisting around to press your ass more firmly against his legs, heavily amused by the subtle flair of his nostrils and tightening of his fingers into your plush flesh.Â
âI have half a mind to take you right back to my car and make you sit on my cock.âÂ
A delicious quiver runs through you, and like that cat in perpetual heat youâve become, you lean back into him, giving up so easily, arching against his sturdy form. âWhat are you waiting for?âÂ
âMeet my boss, then weâll talk about it.âÂ
Captain Wander is in the kitchenâif you can call it that. Itâs massive, open and warm, with long polished granite counters and sleek appliances. Everything is spotless. Uncluttered. You overflow with envy for a moment, looking around at the high ceiling and neon beverage displays.Â
Tom places a hand on the captainâs shoulder, grabbing his attention from the other guests at his expensive bar table. âJack, this is my girlfriend, y/n.â
âHi, Iâm y/n,â you say, and then flush with the realization that Tom already introduced you and youâre embarrassing yourself in front of his boss of all people.Â
However, Wander is gracious about it, smiling kindly at you and pressing your hand in his. You can't help but notice how soft his hands are compared to Tomâs. Manicured, well-kemp. Heâs been behind a desk for a long timeâŠ
âItâs nice to meet you, y/n. You must have a high pain tolerance, if youâre into my boy Tom here.â Thereâs a sparkle in his eyes as he says it though, and Tom rolls his eyes with a sideways smile. You can tell by this downright deferential reaction (for Tom) that he looks up to Wander.Â
âNice to meet you too.âÂ
Wander grins. âSeriously though. You couldnât be in better hands. Tom is a great guy.â He claps his subordinate on the shoulder, and fuck if Tom isnât like a puppy rolling over to get his belly scratched. Youâve never seen anything like itâexcept maybe, with you.Â
âHey,â says the Captain, looking directly at you. âCan I steal my man for a second? We gotta talk some shop.â
Since thatâs pretty much why Tom brought you over here, you nod agreeably. âSure. Donât keep him long though.âÂ
Wander winks at you before throwing an arm over Tomâs shoulders, leading him down a hallway where you suppose there might be an office or something. Tom looks over his shoulder at you, mouthing, You ok?
You nod, even though you hate navigating a crowd this big alone, and you miss him already. You decide to get some air, wandering out back to sit by the pool. The view is spectacular, the glittering lights of the city spread out below you. Plenty of people had the same idea as you, and you take a seat with your drink, trying not to look half as awkward as you feel without Tomâs steady presence at your side.Â
Some of the other wives and girlfriends whose other halves have wandered off chat you up before drifting away. The lighted pool looks inviting, and you almost wish youâd brought your suit.Â
âOh shit, look who it is! Youâre not still with that loser Ludlow, are you sweetheart? Come over here if you want a piece of a real man.âÂ
Your head turns as though on a swivel, disbelieving that this fucker would dare show his face here, and that he would have the guts to talk to you again. McCauley, the douchey detective from the bar on your first date with Tom, is seated on a lounger back in the shadows. You realize that everyone has pointedly been avoiding him. Heâs clearly drunk, his speech slurred. When he stands he almost falls over, but somehow manages to stumble towards you.Â
âGive it a rest, Kevin,â your newfound compatriot yells over, rolling her eyes at the drunken idiot.
You decide to ignore him and get closer to the other pool patrons, but his tough grip clamps your wrist before you can run, and instinctively you pull back and hit him in the face.
Itâs not like you, to be physically violent, especially not with men twice your size who are stupendously drunkâafter all, you know how that usually works out in the endâbut over these past few weeks your inner cavewoman has been woken by Tom Ludlow, and then right after that, your inner scratching, biting, kicking, screaming, trapped child by Julian.Â
You look at your hand in disbelief, then up at McCauley, his fingers delicately pressed to the blooming bright red handprint on the side of his head. His expression is surprise, then seething rage, and he yanks you forward just a little, tiny bitâŠbut thatâs all it takes to incite screams, to make you shield your face, to make you cower before him like a little bitch.
Ludlow is on him in a second, so fast you wonder, later, if he jumped off the porch deck just to get over to you, and he grabs him by the collar of his nice button up. You watch McCauleyâs feet leave the ground, you hear a loud, blunt thunk, and then the drunkard is flying into the pool, splashing a chlorinated wave over you and the man now at your side with his warm hands on your face, protecting you from the outside world, from the people that otherwise would be seeing you cry.Â
If they were paying attention to you, that is, and not losing their shit laughing at the groaning, bloody man surfacing from the water with his hand pressed over his nose.Â
âYou okay?â Tom asks, tucking your hair behind your ears and kissing your forehead, and if it wasnât so heart warming youâd be embarrassed.Â
You nod, wiping wetness from your cheeks. âHe scared me, I hit him.âÂ
âThatâs my girl,â Tom tells you, grinning wide, and you preen under his praise, smiling despite yourself. Â
Tom pulls you against his side protectively, and addresses McCauley. âEither you get the fuck out of here,â he tells him, calmly, almost cordially, âor I throw you over the fence into the freeway next.âÂ
McCauley is all eyes, and you can tell by his expression, all rage, for you, but you stand your ground, chin raised, and you think of the chihuahua again, so brave when tucked behind its big bull mastiff guardian. You feelâŠgood. Guilty about it, but good. Powerful, with this novel feminine energy pulsing through your blood. Itâs so strange and melodramatic, to feel as if youâve been possessed by Lilith herself for hitting some guy that touched you without your permission at a pool party.Â
Your new friend loops her arm with your own. âUh, you wanna transfer to med surge?â she teases.
Tom lets you go with her to talk and grab a drink while he makes sure McCauley gets to a taxiâŠsafely. Youâre much more relaxed, now, as if all the nervous energy transferred from your right hook into McCauleyâs skull on impact, and you settle in to talk to Abby from medsurge and her cop wife friends, equipped with frosty Chardonnay bottles.Â
Before long, and when the alcohol is really brushing your hackles down into soft fleece, Tom, Wander, and the cop husbands join you. You lean into your fierce protector, and he kisses your temple, like he canât help but put his lips on you even if youâre surrounded by other people.Â
Itâs good hereâbetter than you thought youâd ever get, especially in a place like LAânestled by Tom Ludlow and laughing and drinking and talking. The stories that cops tell are wild, heart wrenching, hilarious. Youâre gasping in horror as often as bursting out in laughter.Â
Captain WanderâJackâsets his beer down and commands the attention of his guests, a small wayward smile directed in Tomâs direction, and your tough detective bristles and squirms under the attention of his superior. You almost feel a little jealous of the way Wander subdues him.Â
âNow Tom,â Jack says, looking directly at you. âI have some store-eees about Tom.â
Tom grumbles, and you push him playfully. âOh yeah?â You ask, matching his grin. âLet me guess, he saved a toddler from a house fire and then went back in for their pet kitten?âÂ
This earns you a laugh around the table, even from embarrassed Tom.Â
âLooks like sheâs got your number, Luds,â one of his colleagues teases, patting his shoulder.Â
Tom looks at you like youâve got more than just that, and like when you get out of here heâs going to fuck you silly, but the problem with that is you want to be fucked stupid, so you continue, âokay, letâs hear it! I want all Tomâs stories, especially the really embarrassing ones.âÂ
You are in so much trouble, for egging this on, says his hand gripping your thigh firmly, sending a delicious, achy twang deep into your pussy.Â
âTomâs always the guy you call when you need to get shit done,â Jack starts, speaking directly to you. âFew years back, we had a big time dealer in holding. This guy was real scum of the earthâIâm talking famous among his kind. Every junkie from here to Sonoma had his numberââ
âSonoma?â You interrupt. âIs that far?â
A murmur of laughter ripples through Jackâs guests, and the Captain smiles at you as if he finds you endearing.Â
âItâs about 400 miles away,â says Tom to you. Then, to Jack: âsheâs from Kansas.âÂ
âHave you shown her around yet?â The Captain asks, and there is some underlying innuendo in his tone that you canât quite decipher.Â
âYeah, a little bit.â You look up at Tom, and his jaw is clenched just a little too tight for your liking. To loosen him up, you grab just above his knee, in that sensitive alcove, and squeeze.Â
This earns you a jump, and then a brutish grumble of annoyance. You want to ask him if heâs okay, because of his sudden change in demeanor, but Wander is already continuing with his tale.Â
âAnyway, we had been trying to get this guy for years, and finally we had him in holding. Only problem was, without a confession, we couldnât go forward with the conviction...and we had to let him go. Thatâs where Tom comes in.âÂ
âLike a human wrecking ball,â one of his coworkers chimes in.Â
âHey,â Wander shrugs, âthatâs always been Tom. Heâs the guy you call if you want shit done.â He toasts to the ever-stiffening man beside you, and you grab two of his fingers, wrapping your palm around them in what you hope is a comforting gesture.Â
âAnyway, we got that confession,â Jack says. âAnd then some.â
âAt first I didnât know what the hell he was gonna do with that 91 directory,â Tomâs colleague adds, patting him on the shoulder.Â
âThey had to screw that scumbagâs jaw back into place,â another says.Â
âThatâs why heâs the best of the best,â Wander tells you after a big gulp of beer. âYouâve got a good man here, y/n.â
âNo doubt about it.âÂ
But doubt is a funny thing. It plants a seed deep inside your brain, and before you know it that seed has sprouted into wisteria vines and begun to wrap all around your squishy pink organ, binding its thoughts in chaosâŠ

The Last Mask (04)
Hwang In-ho/Oh Young-il/Player 001 x Reader
Chapter 04 - Player 001
Story Masterlist
NEXT : Chapter 05
PREV : Chapter 03
After the voting, the guards began distributing lunchboxes. You reached the front of the queue and took one from a pink-clad guard. Stepping out of the line, you noticed player 390 behind you, and the two of you headed toward a quiet corner between the bunk beds on the right side of the hall.
Player 456 was already sitting there, his eyes fixed on the floor. His meal and drink sat untouched beside him. You sighed softly at his distant demeanor.
âYou two are friends, right?â you asked player 390, slowing your steps.
âHuh? Me and Gi-hun?â player 390 glanced at player 456. âOh, yeah. His mother liked me.â
You nodded, assuming they had been friends for a long time. You asked, âHas he always been this distant and quiet?â
âNot at all,â player 390 said, shaking his head. âHe was actually really cheerful. Also very loud. He used to laugh at stuff no one else thought was funny. And you know what always set him off?â
Curiosity piqued, you asked, âWhat?â
Player 390 grinned. âLosing at betting on horses.â
âYou two used to bet on horses?â
âWell, we did,â he said with a shrug. âBut three years ago, he disappeared. I couldnât reach him, and his mom was worried sick. She was already physically sick, too. She passed away not long after he vanished.â
âThree years ago? He said he played these games at that time.â
âYeah, now that you mention it,â player 390 replied. âHe shouldâve contacted me after winning. I really thought he was dead.â
You lowered your voice. âWell, in a way, he does seem dead yet alive right now.â
Player 390 turned to you with a small smile. âAnyway, I havenât introduced myself yet. Iâm Jung-bae, and that is Gi-hun.â
You smiled back, giving your name in return. By then, the two of you had reached Gi-hunâs spot and sat down on either side of him.
You began unboxing your lunchbox while Jung-bae turned to his long-time friend. âLook at this lunch. Itâs just like my mom used to make. Whatâs in yours?â
Gi-hun didnât respond. His silence hung heavy, but Jung-bae pressed on.
âArenât you going to eat?â Jung-bae scooped a spoonful of rice with some fried egg and held it out toward him. âLook, youâve got to eat. You know what they say, âEat up, even on your deathbed.â Just do your thinking while you eat, or afterwards. Here.â
Still, Gi-hun ignored him. Jung-bae sighed and pulled the spoon back.
âForget it then,â he muttered before taking the bite himself. With his mouth full, he added, âThis might be for the best. I donât know about you, but that 20 million wouldnât even cover my interest. If we play just one more gameâŠâ
âJung-bae,â Gi-hun finally spoke, his tone heavy. He stared solemnly at his friend. âLast time I was here, someone said the exact same thing. And in the end, that person died here.â
Jung-bae chewed quietly, his earlier enthusiasm fading. You watched the two of them, a quiet curiosity growing. What kind of experience had he gone through here? Had he lost friends? The thought that everyone he once knew in these games had died was haunting. But why is he back?
âHelp us then, sir.â
The voice drew your attention. You, Jung-bae, and Gi-hun turned to see player 001 approaching your corner. Behind him were player 100 and a few others. Their presence immediately shifted the atmosphere.
âYou said youâve played these games,â commented player 001.
Gi-hun stared at him briefly before lowering his head, as if retreating into himself. You thought he might ignore them altogether until player 001 spoke again.
âI pressed the O button because of you.â
Gi-hun looked up at him, surprised. Player 001 continued, âHonestly, I was scared. I wanted to quit and leave. But you made me think maybe I could play just one more game.â
âMe too,â another player behind him chimed in.
âSame here,â added another.
You glanced at Gi-hun and murmured, âLooks like itâs a bad idea revealing youâre a previous winner.â
Gi-hun turned to you, exhaling through his nose. âI thought it would make everyone understand⊠that everyone here is doomed to die as long as we stay here.â
You nodded slightly, your gaze shifting back to player 001, who was already looking at you. Feeling a bit awkward, you quickly averted your gaze and pretended not to notice.
âSir,â player 001 said, leaning closer to Gi-hun. âYou know which gameâs next, donât you?â
Several players leaned in, their curiosity evident. Even you couldnât help but wonder. Jung-bae put down his lunchbox and turned to his friend. âYouâre a previous winner, so you should know. What are we playing next?â
Gi-hun avoided eye contact, his voice low as he finally answered. âThe second game was Dalgona.â
The bed beside you creaked as someone shifted on it. You glanced over to see player 388 leaning toward your corner. âDalgona? The sugar candy with a shape you can carve out?â
âThatâs right,â Gi-hun replied. âWe had to choose one of four shapes and carve it out.â
âFour shapes? Which was the easiest one?â Jung-bae asked quickly.
âTriangle.â
âWhich was the hardest one?â Jung-bae pressed further.
âUmbrella.â
âUmbrella?â player 001 scoffed. âSome people chose umbrella? Those unlucky bastards must have bitten the dust.â
At his words, Gi-hun stared at him silently, his expression unreadable. There was something in his gaze that felt like judgment, maybe even offense. You noticed it but chose not to dwell on it, focusing instead on your lunch.
âSo that means we should all just pick triangle,â player 388 suggested. âEveryone could probably pass with that.â
âHush now!â player 100 stepped forward, positioning himself beside player 001. âIf all 365 of us survive, the prize money wonât go up at all. Then weâll have risked our lives again for nothing.â
âThatâs true,â a few players behind him agreed, nodding.
Player 100 continued, âListen. We should probably keep this information to ourselves. What do you say?â
Player 001 stayed quiet, while others eagerly nodded their agreement. But before the discussion could settle, Gi-hun spoke up, his tone firm. âWe canât do that. Iâm telling you this to save everyoneâs lives.â
âAnd we donât even know if the next game will really be Dalgona,â you added, scooping another spoonful of rice.
Gi-hun nodded. âThatâs right. If itâs confirmed that the next game is Dalgona, Iâm going to tell everyone what I know.â
Player 100 scoffed, rolling his eyes before turning and walking away. The group of players who had followed him quickly trailed behind, leaving the corner quieter and less tense. You exhaled softly, relieved to have the space back.
Player 001, however, remained. He shifted his gaze to you, Jung-bae and Gi-hun.
âSo, which shape did you pick?â Jung-bae asked with a curious raise of an eyebrow.
Gi-hun looked at him deadpan, offering no response.
You chuckled softly at the exchange, drawing their attention. Their curious stares settled on you, but you feigned innocence, focusing on your lunch as if you hadnât been following the conversation.
Still, the words slipped out.
âSo, did you choose umbrella?â you asked, your tone playful.
Gi-hun turned his gaze toward you, his expression flat and unimpressed. For a moment, you thought he might actually answer, but then he looked away, ignoring the question entirely. His silence was pointed, as if heâd chosen to pretend he hadnât heard you at all.
You and Jung-bae exchanged knowing glances, both of you stifling a grin. It wasnât until player 001 spoke that you realized he had been watching the entire interaction.
âMay I ask you something?â
All three of you â you, Gi-hun, and Jung-bae â turned your attention to him. Player 001 moved closer, sitting down on the stairs beside your group. He directed his question straight at Gi-hun.
âWhy did you come back to this place?â he asked. âYou said you won and made it out. Then you must have received 45.6 billion. Did you spend it all?â
Jung-baeâs eyes widened as realization seemed to hit him. He asked Gi-hun incredulously, âDid you bet on horses again?â
You side-eyed the pair, amused by Jung-baeâs immediate assumption.
Gi-hun shook his head solemnly. âThat money doesnât belong to me. Itâs blood money for the people who died here. The same goes for the money up there.â
You couldnât help but silently agree. Survival guilt had clearly taken a toll on him, and you imagined the weight of it must have been crushing.
âYou donât have to think of it that way,â player 001 said, his voice calm. Gi-hun looked at him in mild astonishment. Player 001 continued, âItâs not like you killed those people, and saving that money wonât bring them back to life.â
Gi-hun leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. His tone turned sharp as he replied, âIf you had pressed the X, everyone here wouldâve changed their mind by tomorrow. All of us wouldâve made it out alive.â
Player 001 held his gaze, his expression unyielding. âThatâs right. I was the last to press the O button. But there were 186 more people who wanted to stay.â
âAnd there were also 185 people who wanted to leave,â Gi-hun countered.
You and Jung-bae exchanged glances, sensing that neither man was willing to back down. Their differing perspectives created a palpable tension.
Player 001 broke the silence. âLetâs say I pressed X and we all got a chance to vote again tomorrow. Would everyone have been happy? Do you think a majority of O players would change their mind and thank me?â
Gi-hunâs brow furrowed deeper, his glower showing he was searching for another argument.
Before things could escalate further, Jung-bae intervened. âEnough, you two,â he said. âThereâs no point in placing blame now. You know the saying. A widow understands a widower best. Letâs just focus on the game tomorrow, okay?â
He gestured toward Gi-hun and said, âHe has won all these games before. If we stick together, weâll have nothing to worry about.â
âBut we canât always rely on him,â you interjected. âHe doesnât need more pressure from everyone expecting too much from him.â
Gi-hun and player 001 both turned to you, their gazes quiet but intent.
Jung-bae nodded thoughtfully. âYouâre right, but he has the experience. Any advice he has will help.â
âHeâs right,â another voice chimed in. The four of you turned to see player 388, who had been eavesdropping from his bed. He hopped down and stood close. âWe have to stick together. Iâll be with you all the way.â
Jung-bae frowned in skepticism. âWho are you?â
The man came to a stop in front of you all and gave a quick bow. âIâm Dae-ho. Kang Dae-ho.â
Dae-ho extended his hand to Jung-bae, a clear offer for a handshake. Jung-bae didnât take it, instead replying dryly, âOh, Dae-ho. Have we met?â
Dae-hoâs expression faltered briefly before he glanced at player 001, who kept his head low, and then at Gi-hun, who looked at him with indifference. Finally, his gaze landed on you. Seeing no skepticism in your expression, he extended his hand toward you.
You blinked in surprise but took his hand. He clasped yours in both of his, nodding gratefully as you introduced yourself. You could feel the others watching the interaction closely. After a moment, he let go of your hand, looking slightly more at ease.
âEarlier during the game, Mr. 456 here was like,â Dae-ho began, pausing to mimic Gi-hunâs urgent warning style from the first game. âFreeze! And I became his fan.â
You grinned at his enthusiasm while Gi-hun turned his gaze away, clearly embarrassed. Undeterred, Dae-ho continued eagerly, âIâd like to get to know you all better. Please give me a chance!â
Jung-bae stood suddenly as Dae-ho mimicked Gi-hun again. âFreeze! That was so cool!â
You chuckled softly, but the sound caught Gi-hunâs attention. He glanced at you with a look that felt half-judgmental before shifting his gaze elsewhere.
âHang on,â Jung-bae said abruptly, grabbing Dae-hoâs sleeve and pulling it upward to reveal an ROKMC tattoo. Dae-ho looked at him, confused, as Jung-bae asked, âYou were in the Marines?â
âYes, why?â
âClass number?â Jung-bae countered, his tone sharp.
Dae-ho gave him a once-over before letting out a wheeze of amusement.
âOh, youâre laughing?â Jung-bae challenged, unzipping his jacket and pulling up his sleeve. He revealed the same ROKMC tattoo on his forearm.
Dae-hoâs amusement vanished. He stepped back, clearly caught off guard, as Jung-bae stood tall, even combing his hair back dramatically with his fingers.
Suddenly, Dae-ho snapped into a salute, raising his voice. âVictory at all costs! I was in Class 1140, sir!â
Jung-bae saluted back, his grin wide. âAt ease! âDae-ho.â I knew there was something about you.â
The sudden burst of military camaraderie caught you off guard. Are they really going all military here? Their loud banter is starting to draw attention to your corner.
âDo Marines get tattoos like that?â you asked to no one in particular, genuinely curious.
Player 001, who had been observing quietly, spoke up. âItâs not officially required. But for many in the ROKMC, getting the tattoo is a tradition.â
You nodded your head in understanding. âOh.â
Dae-ho, still stiff in his stance, screamed, âYes, sir!â
Jung-bae laughed, clapping him on the shoulder. âClass 746 here. Letâs make a good team.â
âI wonât let you down, sir!â Dae-ho barked back, standing straighter.
Jung-bae guffawed, patting him on the shoulder again, earning another resounding âyes, sir!â from Dae-ho. The exchange repeated a few more times, each louder than the last. You couldnât help but laugh softly at the spectacle, while Gi-hun watched them with an expression that screamed secondhand embarrassment.
You turned away from the comedic display of Jung-bae and Dae-ho, who seemed more like overenthusiastic military recruits than grown men, and began cleaning up your lunchbox. As you took a sip from your water bottle, you noticed player 001 shifting slightly in his seat nearby.
Lowering the bottle, you glanced over and asked casually, âHave you eaten already?â
Player 001 looked at you for a moment before a warm smile crossed his face. âYes, I have.â
You nodded, returning his smile. âGood. The food they prepared for us was worth it. Itâs a waste not to eat it.â
Turning toward Gi-hun, you pointedly glanced at his untouched lunchbox. âYou need to eat, sir. Itâs better to mull things over with a full stomach.â
Gi-hun hesitated, meeting your gaze briefly before nodding. He opened his lunchbox without a word and began to eat.
After a brief pause, you leaned slightly closer to player 001, lowering your voice. âBy the way, do you know where the ladiesâ restroom is?â
Player 001 gestured toward the door on the right side of the main double doors. âThat one there. The other door is for the men.â
âOh, thanks. Wouldnât want to get lost and get shot by the guards.â
Player 001âs smile widened. âIâm sure the guards would bring you back here if you are lost.â
You chuckled softly. âThatâs comforting to know.â
The exchange put you slightly more at ease, but player 001âs expression soon turned contemplative. âIf you donât mind me asking⊠why did you come here?â
Your smile faltered for a moment, and you caught Gi-hun turning his head just slightly, clearly eavesdropping. Straightening your posture, you replied with a practiced smile, âI needed the money.â
Player 001 nodded slowly, his gaze steady. âThatâs all of us. But if I may say⊠Iâm surprised. A lady like you shouldnât have to bear the burden of crippling debt.â
You looked away, lowering your gaze to the floor. The practiced calm you had maintained slipped, replaced by a somber expression as his words hit a nerve.
Noticing your change in demeanor, player 001 spoke gently. âIâm sorry if I upset you.â
You shook your head and managed a faint smile.
âItâs fine,â you replied softly. Your gaze stayed on the floor as you added, âThe debts are my parentsâ, actually.â
Player 001 stared at you, his smile fading into something more solemn. Gi-hun, who had been eavesdropping, remained silent, his expression unreadable.
âYou motherfucker!â
The shout shattered the quiet, pulling your attention to the other side of the dormitory. A commotion had broken out. MG Coin (player 333) was brawling on the floor with Thanos and his friend (player 124).
With player 124âs help, Thanos delivered a hard punch to player 333. Even as player 333 lay injured on the floor, they didnât stop. Kicks rained down on him mercilessly while gasps of horror rippled through the watching crowd.
âI lost all that money because of you, fucker,â Thanos snarled, punctuating his words with another vicious kick. âBe grateful and fucking eat what youâre given!â
Despite the violence, no one moved. Players stayed rooted in place, their expressions a mix of fear and disgust. Jung-bae and Dae-ho, sleeves still rolled up with their tattoos visible, simply watched, making no move to intervene.
You sighed in frustration. âGood thing I finished eating. Still, ganging up on him is just unfair.â
Before you could consider stepping in, player 001 stood up. He walked past Jung-bae and Dae-ho with measured steps, heading straight toward the chaos. You rose from your seat instinctively, a mix of concern and suspense building. Gi-hun stood as well, his eyes narrowing as he watched the scene unfold.
âBoys, what are you doing in the middle of mealtime?â player 001âs voice carried as he approached Thanos and player 124. âNo fights during mealtime. There are elders present. Mind your manners.â
Thanos and player 124 paused, letting go of player 333. They turned toward player 001, whose calm demeanor seemed to unnerve them. âAnd two against one? Arenât you embarrassed?â
Thanos sneered and stepped closer, his posture challenging. âYouâre lecturing me when you ended up in this shithole too? Uncle, stop running your mouth and take care of your own damn kids.â
The dormitory fell silent as everyone watched. Player 001 silently asked, âWhat did you say?â
Thanos leaned in, his tone mocking. âI said save the lecture for your own damn kidââ
Player 001âs hand shot out, gripping Thanos by the neck. The hold wasnât a full choke, but his thumb pressed into a precise spot that made Thanos stiffen immediately. The calculated grip made it clear he knew exactly what he was doing. And it looked painful.
Thanosâ hands clawed at player 001âs arm, but the older manâs hold didnât waver. His bravado crumbled under the pressure of the unyielding grip.
Player 124 advanced toward them. âYou son of aââ
Before he could finish, player 001 swiftly kicked his shin. Player 124 let out a brief scream, immediately grasping his leg in pain. Without missing a beat, player 001 delivered another kick, sending him sprawling to the floor, clutching his injured shin. The speed of it all left several players gasping in shock.
Player 001 released Thanosâ neck, standing still in the same spot, his posture calm and steady. It was a stark contrast to Thanos and his friend who were already heaving in pain, struggling to recover.
Just as you thought it was over, Thanos stubbornly got up and advanced toward player 001 again. Raising his arm for a punch, he barely got the chance before player 001 landed a precise blow to his chest in the blink of an eye. Thanos doubled over, clutching his chest in visible pain.
âWait,â Thanos choked out, holding up a hand in surrender.
Player 001, unfazed, grabbed Thanosâ outstretched hand and twisted it. With a calculated move, he brought Thanos down to the floor and delivered two sharp kicks to his chest, sending him sprawling.
Before Thanos could fully process what was happening, player 001 stood over him, gripping his neck once again. His free hand rose, forming a fist poised to strike. The dormitoryâs atmosphere turned chillingly tense as everyone held their breath.
âIâm sorry,â Thanos choked out, his voice barely audible.
Player 001âs face remained emotionless, cold and detached. His grip tightened momentarily, making Thanos gasp for air. His purple hair seemed to match the growing discoloration of his face as the players around them watched in stunned silence.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, player 001 let him go. Calmly, he stood up as if nothing had happened. A smattering of applause broke out, quickly growing into full-on clapping and cheers.
âYouâre the man!â
âNice!â
You joined in, clapping in genuine awe of his combat prowess. He had taken down two bullies without breaking a sweat. What is he, really? He must be an expert at something combat-related.
Player 001 looked surprised by the positive reaction. With a small, appreciative nod and a faint smile, he smoothed his hair, clearly a bit embarrassed and shy by the attention.
As he walked back toward your corner, where you and the others were still clapping, Jung-bae leaned over. âWhat is he?â
âIs he an ex-Marine too?â Dae-ho asked.
You smirked and pointedly remarked, âIf he is, you two might want to roll your sleeves down. He actually stopped the bullies, not the tattoos.â
Jung-bae and Dae-ho exchanged sheepish glances before simultaneously fixing their sleeves. They continued clapping enthusiastically for player 001, pretending they hadnât been called out.
Player 001 returned to your corner, his calm demeanor intact despite the tension moments ago. You, Jung-bae, and Dae-ho couldnât help but look at him with a mix of amazement and curiosity.
âSir, that was incredible,â Jung-bae said, his voice tinged with admiration. âWhere did you learn to fight like that?â
Dae-ho chimed in, âSeriously, the way you took them down without even breaking a sweat. Are you some kind of martial artist or what?â
Player 001 gave a wide smile. âLetâs just say Iâve picked up a thing or two along the way.â
Jung-bae exchanged a look with Dae-ho, both nodding as if they had just decided player 001 was the coolest person theyâd ever met.
âMan of mystery,â Dae-ho muttered appreciatively.
You leaned forward slightly, your gentle tone more concerned. âBut youâre not hurt at all, right? You seemed upset.â
Player 001 turned to you and his smile softened. âNot at all. I left and came back the same.â
His composed response only added to the awe emanating from Jung-bae and Dae-ho, who continued to marvel at him. The brief chaos from earlier now felt like a distant memory.
You couldnât help but grin as you turned to player 001. âYou know, I just told them to roll their sleeves down because you were the one who stopped the bullies, not those tattoos.â
Player 001 let out a steady laugh, the sound warm and disarming. Jung-bae and Dae-ho immediately looked embarrassed, glancing at each other before quickly shifting their attention elsewhere.
âHey, the tattoos still count for something,â Jung-bae muttered, rolling his sleeve back up halfway just to save face.
âSure they do,â you replied, still smiling as Dae-ho tried to look nonchalant.
The four of you sat back down at the corner. Gi-hun, who had stayed quiet throughout the commotion, gave player 001 a subtle nod of acknowledgment. It wasnât much, but it felt like a truce of sorts after their earlier disagreement.
Dae-ho, ever the chatterbox, broke the quiet. âSo, Mr. 001, youâve got to teach us some of those moves. What was that neck grip thing? Looked like something out of a spy movie.â
Player 001 gave a faint smile, shaking his head. âItâs just a simple technique. Nothing fancy.â
âNothing fancy?â Jung-bae scoffed. âYou had that guy gasping for air and looking like he was about to cry. If thatâs simple, Iâd hate to see complicated.â
âI want to learn how to do that too,â you added. âIt would be useful to protect myself out there.â
Player 001 replied with a widening smile. âSure, I could teach you. We just have to focus on winning the next game and leave this place for good. Iâll teach once weâre out of here.â
âSir, donât forget about me though,â said Dae-ho. âI want to learn that too.â
Jung-bae chimed in, âMe too.â
Player 001 nodded, âGot it. Iâll teach you three, then.â
The conversation drifted into lighter topics, with Dae-ho recounting an overly dramatic story from his military days that had Jung-bae laughing and shaking his head. Gi-hun stayed mostly quiet, his focus shifting between the group and the room at large.
