Turned my DR1 faves into ponies because i'm weird :)

(Also note that i made celeste an alicorn because i like to imagine that in the MLP universe: celeste is secretly an earth pony and just wears a fake horn and wings to make herself seem more fancy)
#ok but seriously. i made these because i have plans on making a danganronpa MLP AU animatic sometime in the future and i needed pony designs#if you've been following me for a while i think you can tell why the animatic will be focusing on THESE THREE specifically#....aside from the fact they're my favorites#also i forgot to actually put byakuya's cutie mark on his ass WHOOPS!!!!#artists on tumblr#art#digital art#digital illustration#danganronpa#my little pony#crossover#crossover fanart#danganronpa trigger happy havoc#base art#mlp base edit#base edit#pony au#ponified#byakuya togami#danganronpa byakuya#celestia ludenberg#danganronpa celestia#toko fukawa#danganronpa toko#danganronpa fanart#danganronpa au#danganronpa thh#dr thh#mlp#mlp fim

HIIII OMG I LOVE YOUR YAN BATFAM X BLACK READER STORYS SOOOO I HAVE A LIL REQUEST I WAS WONDERING IF YOU CAN DO A CELESTIA LUDENBERG ONE WITH THE YAN BATFAM PLEASE (make sure your taking good care of yourself😋)
THE ACE UP MY SELVES
Platonic yandere!batfam x Celestia Ludenberg!Reader

Bio: The gambling bat who spends her time in Gotham's underworld, even though she is the richest girl in the world.
You've always been a gambler. Ever since you were in kindergarten, you gambled kids out of their fruit snacks, Pokémon cards, and maybe little toys and trinkets. It was just a simple game of tic-tac-toe or rock-paper-scissors that you beat them at. You always managed to win and would tell them they could try again next time, make the bets higher, and make the beatings better, but they always managed to lose. You're not cheating, of course; just a better hand. But you're older now, playing for Gotham's underworld at the Iceberg Lounge, destroying mob bosses in games of poker, taking all the chips you can get. They would shoot you down—better not to hurt Gotham, sweetheart. The innocent and most delicate [Name] Wayne, they wouldn't dare pull the trigger because they've already wasted their life savings on this one bet, or they're going to waste their lives in prison. You think not to give a cute little smile as you take the wad of cash away, the money in your hands in your mind, a game won easily. The slot machines hate to see you coming because you manage to get a seven out of seven. It's a lucky number, right? Gotham's crooks and goons every Saturday night see if they can have a chance to beat you, but they never get the heads up because the higher the stakes, the more fun it is, and the more they lose, and the more money you win. I mean, why would a single father go gambling? You should get a nine-to-five. You gamble against a fifteen-year-old, always spoiling your friends with your betting wins, and you always have cash on you because gambling games are what everyone brings. One time, your five-dollar bill had some blood on it. The cashier, just a poor little idiot, believed you. The next game you were playing with Jack always made you giggle, having a royal flush without any trouble. You grabbed all the chips off the deck when you felt a tap on your shoulder. Oh no, you didn't know the bats were going to be patrolling today, and you didn't know your brothers were on shift at Gotham's loveliest casino. "So is this what girls' night out means?" Dick said. You could feel his face scrunch up under his domino mask. Jason had his pistols against the goon's forehead, cold and ready to burn, Tim is asking questions while Damian was trying to take the winnings out of your hands. "I just wanted to have some fun." You put on the biggest baby face, trying to act all innocent, when really you just stole somebody's inheritance. It was their fault for gambling in the first place. They dragged you out of the casino, and Bruce, while in his bat costume, had a stern talking to with you. Someone managed to take a video, and now it's on the news: "Gotham's greatest gambler [Name] Wayne was caught on another one of her escapades. She's now being apprehended by none other than Batman, who seems to have a fatherly affection for this young girl." How have they not figured out the truth yet? Forget it. You're no longer allowed to go anywhere at night—no more underground casinos or Iceberg Lounge. You have to play Saturday night games with your family. Monopoly isn't as fun when there isn't real money around, but you do have a time stealing your brother's railroads. "It's just a game, boys. You're lucky I didn't steal your inheritance." This was a real match for money, so here you are, flaunting the fake dollars you'll get back on your grind, though. The higher the stakes, the more fun.

Hello! After all this effort, behold:
DANGANRONPA DEMIX, THH EDITION!
Dr Demix 2
Finally got the talentswap designs I have for the THH characters one and done with! You can click through the read more section for some fun design insights. I'm intending on uploading a doc containing short lore bits about them eventually.
Kyoko Kirigiri - Ultimate Affluent Progeny
So Kyoko's design was both kinda simple, kinda not, wanted to give her a very fine and regal kinda attitude to her but not arrogant as that's very much Byakuya's thing. Her story is that she loves her dad more than the family business and her grandpa so she abandons detective work and just uses her brain to help her dad out.
Makoto Naegi - Ultimate Novelist
Makoto is a wonderful guy, just great all around. He loves writing children's books and happy stories. This is his main coping mechanism so he doesn't have to process any negative emotions he gets, the rest he can't process… well they go into a murderous psychopath alter.
Aoi Asahina - Ultimate Lucky Student
Shoujo protagonist Aoi. Cute, headstrong, affective, competitive, these are all the traits that make her fight for her friends and clash with Kyoko (and more often than not Byakuya) in the killing game, even when all hope seems lost… she pushes through, unafraid to let tears spill from her eyes for all those lost, but pushing all the same.
Byakuya Togami - Ultimate Detective
This one, I wanna go into more lore territory, cause I kinda memed around his last desc I gave him so here goes:
"A disgraced heir of the Togami household, Byakuya lost the competition that would've secured his riches. Disdainful and bitter, he sought out to get to the bottom of why he lost, uncovering a rabbit hole in the process. By the end, he proved his sibling a cheater, but it didn't matter because by the end as he found the sweet satisfaction of uncovering secrets and crushing liars and cheaters under the weight of their hubris far more satisfying than any inheritance."
Sayaka Maizono - Ultimate Spirit Medium
So Sayaka isn't a clairvoyant at all like Yasuhiro, in fact her entire skillset is completely different, first of all she is like an actual psychic, and I based her design off of the japanese Itako, quite loosely. Very interesting group, look it up, also she'll never use these powers in the killing game because I dunno how to even approach these rituals or what they look like or how to write them while remaining respectful, so she won't do it in a killing game for the express reason of her not having the right tools available and not wanting to disrespect her traditions.
Leon Kuwata - Ultimate Swimmer
I really wanna draw him again, all these characters again tbh, and I wanna show off the patterns on his wetsuit. It's a whole coral reef under there, that anemone and clownfish bit is only one part of a whole reef stretching his midline.
Sakura Ogami - Ultimate Programmer
Sakura has installed chips into her body to help optimize her body processes and also cause why not. As for the muscles, she's an Assembly programmer, the programs she's made can run on calculators she loves it.
Chihiro Fujisaki - Ultimate Martial Artist
Chihiro's design here with the two belts is an explicit nod to his preferred martial art - Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, so unlike Sakura in canon who'd be easy to imagine cracking someone's skull in half with a chop, Chihiro's approach is more crawling onto someone and bringing them down to the floor with grappling like an angry halfling monk. As for the belts themselves, on his head is his final junior belt, while around his waist is his current belt, he's not a black belt yet because he's still too young for it.
Celestia Ludenberg - Ultimate Baseball Star
Celestia actually isn't a legend in this AU, Taeko is. Celestia hates that and wants to start a baseball career going international, whatever the hell that means is up to her own definition, but she wants to be remembered forever as Celestia, not Taeko. Also extra sentence, but this is the SINGLE hardest design I've ever had to deal with here, I think in the future I'll be drawing all her little accessories and I have an alt costume for her I have in mind.
Hifumi Yamada - Ultimate Pop Star
So I changed Hifumi's story as I originally outlined in the OG post with him. He was friends with Aoi all his life, pretty much his only friend at all, and ever since he was little he had an obsession with writing songs, because he was obsessed with stuff like anime openings and was content to just keep the songs to himself. It wasn't till Aoi convinced him to share some of his songs that he started his journey to success, but bc he's not traditionally attractive, his first hits were literally just… his voice being played over other more attractive singers and it wasn't until very very recently that he even performed a song of his for the first time.
Toko Fukawa - Ultimate Fanfic Writer
So while Hifumi was clearly a Doujinshi but due to weird translation, ended up as fanfic creator, Touko is straight up a FF then Wattpad then AO3 girl, who would get obsessed with this really shitty, tripe manga that she didn't even like reading. It did however have super hot dudes in it, so she wrote good stories of those characters when she got frustrated with the actual authorial content - which was always.
Yasuhiro Hagakure - Ultimate Gambler
Quite LITERALLY the never stop gambling meme personified into a guy. He can lose 3 mil on slot machines but always comes out fine because it means if he keeps gambling he'll eventually run into his 1/3 and win giga millions, what he needs to pay off his debts. It isn't just with luck though either because his personality and lack of intelligence or understanding of most the rules of the games he plays means he'll never react the way he should when getting a good hand in poker or a bad draw in blackjack, so he wins those games almost always through just… stupidity.
Mukuro Ikusaba - Ultimate Biker
She's number 16 in her gang, and is easily the most loyal enforcer and taskman of the gang. She does anything she's told, to a grim and disciplined degree not typical for hooligan bike gangers, she doesn't really desire a seat as top dog of the gang though, after all she's got school to worry about, and her sister.
Mondo Owada - Ultimate Warlord
So his relationship and Kiyotaka's is gonna be interesting, because I don't want him to be exactly like Mukuro at all, who was just sort of an all-obsessed Yandere. It's more like he's always chafing under Taka, who is less than friendly with him in this AU, really the main way he even lets Taka boss him around is because he pays incredibly well and helps keep his gang members from devolving back into the unstructured, chaotic criminal life, the same that took his brother years ago.
Oh and yeah, he still looks like Guile, as he should.
Sparkling Justice - Ultimate Killer Killer
Yeah it's a reference to Killer Killer, sue me I love the manga. He has Hajirahara's ahoge, and I thought it'd be cute to also give him a mask just like the other Makoto from a Kodaka game series (Raincode.) Also, while Genocide jack stuffs all her scissors in her skirt, Makoto keeps a truth gun with "truth bullets" as his main weapon, the gun he stores inside the big book in the chibi of just Makoto, and the bullets kept on his person as the red buttons all over his body, which he pulls out when he needs to reload.
"Kiyotaka Ishimaru" - Ultimate Fashionista
Unlike Mukuro and Junko, Mondo absolutely cannot hide the fact that he acts nothing like Kiyotaka, though this is surprisingly fine to everyone else, because unlike Junko who plastered herself onto literally everything, Mondo always obfuscated himself from the public spotlight, at most showing only his suits while he hid his face behind something conveniently placed. Which played primarily to his vision of an ultimate fashionista, who was above everyone and catered to the rich and powerful.
Junko Enoshima - Ultimate Moral Compass
This was a fun one, I decided to let her have her red hair because I believe it to be the "natural" look of her hair, while attaching little clips of dyed hair to her buns as a replacement to keep her shape sorta and keep the strawberry blonde somwehere on her. Understand that while she is the "moral compass" she is still pretty deranged, and the only reason she focuses so much on keeping everyone on their best behavior is because it's endlessly entertaining to her to make her fellow moral committee members upset when she blatantly makes a mockery of the rules while still keeping kids on their best behavior to make a point.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru - Ultimate Fashionista and Tyrant, the Iron Hand of Despair
Taka's design I wanted to sort of focus on this sort of, holier-than-thou idea, where I wanted to make him look a lot fancier and upper-class than Junko does in his standard highschool fit compared to him. I wanted him to have an upper-crust sort of look
If you're reading this after reading this all, thanks! You're a wonderful person :) Signing off...

idk what this is. i like robots. i’ll clean these up later. i think.
anyways while drawing these I started thinking abt like. idk does this count as an AU.
General shit:
I didn't make it clear, but the robots that have pupils were built without a hardcoded purpose. They've always been free to explore what they want to do. The robots with fully colored "scleras" were created with a purpose from the jump, so their creators didn't feel the need to make them appear more "human".
The more expensive a robot's parts are, the less clunky it is.
Right now, I'm going with "their human family built them" but that's liable to change.
The designs are also liable to change because uh. duh.
Celestia Ludenberg:
Viewed the robots with an imbued purpose as interesting and superior (something something humanity's advancement). She wants to be praised like that, so she emulates them
Her cat loves how much heat she radiates so it's always near her.
Most of her upgrades are cosmetic but if they aren't, they're stupid. She won't upgrade her CPU or her motherboard, but she'll load up with three 4090s that her other components can't even keep up with. Yes, she does it to flex.
She'll distract from bootleg, refurbished, or shoddily painted parts by turning on her RGB. It gets annoying.
She knows that she's fairly unsettling and she revels in it.
All things considered, her cable management is pretty good.
Her gambling skill is still just luck here, but she tells everyone it's because she has a never-seen-before GPU(& CPU) that does calculations at insane speeds.
Most don't believe her but have no way to disprove her lie.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru
I can't decide if he was built by his father or his grandfather.
Either way, he was built before Toranosuke's downfall, so his internals were all pretty expensive for the time. Luckily for him, that means he was slightly future-proof and has a viable upgrade path.
Unluckily for him, this means he's stuck with really old parts and his 8gb of RAM can barely keep up in a 32gb world sadge
His chassis is built from secondhand or scrap parts. It's why his joints are so ancient in comparison to the rest of him and why he has so much cabling that he can't seem to manage.
Shit chassis = shit airflow = he is always overheating
BUDDY IS YOUR CPU BURNING HOW IS THERE SMOKE
Older tech = LOUD AF. The class bought him new fans to avoid the loud ass whirring. It's not quiet but he used to sound like a jet engine.
He runs on Debian. It was originally going to be Arch since it's lightweight but Debian's whole "old but stable" reputation fits him more. I don't see him properly dealing with bleeding edge software anyways.
His room is filled with past HDDs that no longer have storage. He deems all educational material important so he refuses to delete any lessons. He doesn't have the money for SSDs.
Mukuro Ikusaba:
Is usually in reconnaissance mode, meaning she has a shit ton of hidden cameras in her chassis
This used to benefit Fenrir. Now it benefits Junko.
She can have her parts shifted around with no issue to make room for a better arsenal.
She’s durable in her reconnaissance mode but she’s nigh on untouchable in her combat mode. Her chassis gets 10x bulkier and she can split her attention to several different tasks on the battlefield.
Fenrir Mercenary Group doubles as a weapons company. Mukuro is the only model of her kind though.
They tried to give her reconnaissance model the look of a “normal girl” so she could gather info more efficiently. They failed real bad. They also didn’t account for the fact that Mukuro isn’t good at socializing.
She allocates a CPU core to a process dedicated to Junko. 24/7 365
She believes herself to be less capable of emotion than she actually is. She can’t seem to find the system process that triggers such painful emotions.
Chihiro Fujisaki
Each “fold” in her skirt doubles as a screen. Think of the skirt as having two layers: the top shell and the under shell. The top shell is what doubles as a screen.
Optimized her hardware to work on code as fast as possible (fingers, skirt, etc).
She tends to test out new software on herself regardless of their compatibility with her pre-existing shit. She constantly has to reinstall her OS, but it’s all fun for her.
Speaking of her OS, I was going to make her run on Gentoo but IDK cause of the compile times. It’d be faster if she used distcc but I can’t see her screwing over her classmates like that lol.
So I’m between Nix and Arch.
Insecure about the fact that she overhauled her original model so extensively. Got made fun of for being a ‘defective’ robot. Her father supports her modifications but she still feels bad about having ‘failed’ somehow.
Cue identity issues
She helps out her classmates when it comes to repairs.
Tendency to stay up programming leads to high uptimes. If her friends notice her lagging or crashing, they’ll try to get her to shut down. (In a computer sense lol, not an emotional shut down)
Do y’all remember the xz utils backdoor? Yeah that’s how extensively she combs through code.
Sayaka Maizono
I can’t decide if she was built to be an idol or was originally some other type of robot.
Loves to make kids smile, so she has a sort of candy mechanism in her arm.
Everything about her glows or spins. You will never get bored looking at her.
Her skirt isn’t actually see through I just didn’t feel like erasing the hip joints lmao.
If corpos give her manager enough money, she has to perform with literal ads on her.
State-of-the art facial recognition software. It makes her fans feel special to have their names remembered.
She has a regular sleep cycle due to how load-intensive her everyday life is. Has to shut down for a couple hours every week at least.
Her psychic ability is just her running a million calculations based on people’s behavior and sensing which one is most plausible. This feature is in place to avoid PR disasters during interviews or public appearances.
There really aren’t enough worker’s rights regulations in place for robots.
The company gets alerts whenever she freaks tf out, so she feels even more stifled and repressed. Chihiro helped remove this.
Kyoko Kirigiri
Can’t decide if she was built by her father or grandfather. Probably just built by Jin and he “left” her in Fuhito’s care.
Fuhito made her go through several modifications, hardcoding his own investigative skills into her system.
Her grandfather loves her but has fucked up ideas about her own autonomy.
The events of DR:K still happen. She chose not to replace her hands.
Fuhito doesn’t make much use of a backdoor in her system anymore. He used it a lot more when she was a child but he sees her as a viable heir of the Kirigiri clan now. Chihiro isolated the backdoor to a separate SSD anyhow.
Still complicated father-daughter issues
Everything about her (but her OS) is proprietary, probably commissioned from Towa Industries. Her OS is a fork of Mint. The Windows 7 UI is just because I imagine her grandfather is One of Those lmao.
Has way too many scanners and sensors. She can’t test any evidence herself but she can gather a fair bit of information. Has a vast database for cross-comparison anyways.
Same issues as Togami and Mukuro: sees herself as less capable of emotion than she actually is.
The ramen noodle incident called for actual repairs.
Byakuya Togami
His superiority complex is far worse because he was literally CREATED to be the perfect Togami. You can’t tell him shiiiiiiit.
Gold joints. Scoffs at those with unoptimized cable management or software.
He’s constantly streamlining his own processes. Brings up that he runs on his own OS when Nobody Asked.
Had a similar backdoor to Kyoko’s but Koji did check that one. Obsessively. Nobody would tell Byakuya but He Just Knew. The lack of privacy irritated him. Aloysius helped fix it once Togami finally took over.
Only trusts Aloysius with his repairs. Has a hard time admitting when he needs repairs in the first place so Aloysius hides it under “monthly maintenance”.
Does everything from the terminal even when he 1) shouldn’t and 2) can’t. Bragging rights. He has written a bunch of his own scripts though to speed things up.
Kernel and OS provided to him by Koji. (UNIX-based. Proprietary) Byakuya maintains and builds his own updates. Doesn’t trust cheapskate peasants to do it for him.
Anti-FOSS. For him at least.
Has glasses for the aesthetics. Doesn’t need them.
#this blog uses she/her for chihiro btw#getting weird with itttttt#it started with Celestia and spiraled from there#I have designs for the others but yawn later#trigger happy havoc#danganronpa#chihiro fujisaki#kiyotaka ishimaru#sayaka maizono#byakuya togami#kyoko kirigiri#celestia ludenberg#mukuro ikusaba#robot au#<- tagging in case I actually continue this lol#horse_art

Every Lie Celestia Ludenberg Told in DR1
PROLOGUE:
"I am Celestia Ludenburg." (It's Taeko Yasuhiro).
"Ludenburg. It is my name." (Yasuhiro.)
"Heh-heh. I don't know what you are talking about. Celestia Ludenburg *is* my real name." (Taeko Yasuhiro.)
"I look forward to getting to know you better." (You don't interest me.)
CHAPTER 1:
"Personally, I would love to see what happens when someone breaks one of the rules." (Please don't break the rules.)
"I am just happy, that is all." (I am terrified and despairing.)
"All we can do is adapt. Adapt to living out lives here from now on. A lack of adaptability...is a lack of survivability. Survival is not based on who is the strongest or the smartest. It comes down to who can adapt." (I wanna get out of here.)
"It is almost nighttime. I want to take a shower before it arrives." (I need to be alone; I can only keep up my poise for so long under this kind of stress.)
"Well. Hello. I hope the two of you are having a nice day." (I don't care.)
"Adaptability is survivability. Did I not say so? So you'd better hurry up and adapt to your new life here." (I wanna get out of here.)
"Hmhm. Sure, feel free." (You're being foolish.)
"Speaking of which, I have my own things to take care of. Goodbye." (I am freaking out over my precious kitty and don't want to show it in front of you!)
"It is amazing what some people are capable of." (God damn it, someone caved! I was afraid of this!)
"Continuing to think about and talk about the deceased certainly isn't going to help anything." (That sudden death freaked me out, so I need to push it out of my mind.)
"How many times have I told you? Anyone who can't adapt...will die. Death is the only thing awaiting those who are unable or unwilling to adapt. If that happens, you only have yourself to blame." (I wanna get out of here!)
"Does no one have any other thoughts or questions? It does not matter how trivial they may seem..." (A trivial thought and question will piss me off.)
CHAPTER 2:
"Whatever else is going on, I must admit things have been made much more comfortable for us. If things continue like this, the occasional class trial may not be so bad." (I still want out. And please, no more class trials.)
"There is nothing I hate more than getting water on my face." (I wouldn't mind if I didn't have all this make-up on.)
"Your roundish figure reminds me of the owner of the coffee shop I used to frequent." (You're the easiest to manipulate into servitude.)
"Hmhm. I do so love coercion." (I wasn't coercing, I sincerely lost my temper for a moment there. Things are meant to go Celestia Ludenberg's way, and I hate when they don't.)
"This is why adaptation is so crucial. If those who want to escape were to disappear, there would be no reason to continue playing the game." (I wanna get out of here.)
"It is because I am the same as you. Games are meant to be won." (I'm not the same as you, I just really wish I was.)
"How can you be so cold? You are like a piece of rock candy." (I agree, Toko is annoying.)
"Neither do I. Not because it is unpleasant, but because it is impossible." (It is possible, just severely unpleasant - it exposes who I really am, not what I pretend to be.)
"This warehouse is amazing. It has absolutely everything one might need to live a full life. From food to clothes to towels... There's an endless supply to choose from." (I don't care, I'm just trying to distract myself and you from thinking about our present horrifying reality.)
"If she hadn't broken out rule, none of this ever would have happened....You get what you deserve, I suppose." (I'm saying this coldly, but I am in fact extremely pissed off and anguished about nobody listening to my nighttime rule.)
"So you ignored the nighttime rule, too...Well, I don't particularly care. Please, continue." (Why is nobody listening to my nighttime rule? Why don't I have any control here!?)
CHAPTER 3:
"We simply have to make the best of things--do our best to get along and live here together in peace. Forget about the outside world, and accept this new life. That is the only hope we have now. Here we have every convenience. We have food, clothes, our every need is seen to. Why are you dissatisfied? In fact, let me ask you this? What is it about the outside world that you long for? Competition, discrimination, victimization and violence... As society grows, so does its perversion." (I WANNA GET OUT OF HERE.)
"Hmm... There may well be a discovery waiting for us which may further enrich our life here." (I WANNA GET OUT OF HERE.)
"A recreation room. A place for students to come and relax...Those will certainly be helpful in keeping our boredom at bay." (I WANNA GET OUT OF HERE.)
"Life here would be that much nicer if he could add some new issues once in a while. How disappointing." (I WANNA GET OUT OF HERE.)
"There *is* one piece of good news. There just so happens to be a rec room up on the 3rd floor! I have no doubt that our student life here will be even more enjoyable because of it." (I WANNA GET OUT OF HERE.)
"Whenever Hina lies, the tip of her nose gets just a little bit longer." (She'll be dumb enough to believe this.)
"And you ignored the rule regarding nighttime..." (OBEY ME AND STOP IGNORING IT, GODDAMN IT!)
"We were just talking about going to the bathhouse. We have not had a chance to relax in some time. But unfortunately, the bathhouse is not divided into men and women sections. So we decided to do rock-paper-scissors to decide which group would go first. Hina won the match for us, and that is why we are all so pleased." (Play along, everyone!)
"Personally, I've earned over one million dollars from my gambling efforts. My life is...comfortable." (But THAT amount of money could buy me the life I dream of!)
"Taka has become utterly useless." (I've actually already thought of a use for him...)
"Was it the mastermind? Did they finally notice what we were up to?" (It was me.)
"What good are you if you are too tired? You will be much more effective after a good night's sleep." (I will be keeping you up all night, Hifumi.)
"We will begin our search for Alter Ego in the morning." (No we won't.)
CASE 3 - pretty much everything is a lie until she is exposed and concedes defeat.
"I guess trying to work with someone else was a mistake, after all. Hifumi's ineptitude was beyond all my calculations." (I screwed up too, I just don't want to admit it.)
"My specialty? Don't make me laugh. I didn't have to lie to get him to agree." (I totally did have to lie, several times over.)
"Because you're stupid." (Because I hate having to hear your name.)
"That's a non-issue. I simply did everything in my power to win." (I actually did feel guilt over killing Hifumi in the moment.)
"To live in a European castle. And to gather handsome men from all over the world to server as my butlers-slash-bodyguards. I was going to make them dress up like vampires and satisfy my every need. Once I obtained that, I would have created a perfectly aesthetic world of decadence... Living the rest of my life there was my only dream, my only goal... That's what my life is all ABOUT!" (I just want a life where I can fully be Celestia Ludenberg and forever banish Taeko Yasuhiro from existence).
"Still, I don't have any regrets. I pursued my dream till the very end, so why would I?" (I have regrets. I wish I could have had hope in Alter Ego like everyone else.)
"Are you asking me to feel guilty? That's a pointless endeavor. I think nothing of sacrificing others for my own ends. I feel nothing. That's all there is to me. That's what makes me...complete." (I'm just a normal girl who does feel things, and I hate that.)
"My ability to lie is unrivaled, and I take pride in that. It's not just other people--I can even fool my own emotions. The conscious deceives the unconscious. That's right. I don't fear death. Kill me however you like." (I'm scared to die, especially in a way unbefitting of Celestia Ludenberg. Please don't give me such a death.)
FREE TIME:
"I once played a game of Russian roulette mahjong and won. It was a truly fierce contest, put on by a half-insane billionaire in the basement of his mansion. My opponents were a fierce old man and a silver-haired boy who was said to have the devil's own luck. We played with a modified rule set. I remember well the glass tiles we used... I defeated them both at once. I will never forget the angry, twisted looks on their faces. The crowd that had been invited to watch became positively riotous. Nobody could believe I had won. Hmhmhm. That is one of my fonder memories..." (I read this story in a manga once.)
"No matter how many times I hear it, I never tire of hearing my own name. Isn't it so splendidly charming?" (It's not my name, and I keep repeating it to help make myself believe that it is.)
"I did not *pick* it. My name was given to me by my mother and father..." (I picked it.)
"That's right. My father is French nobility, and my mother is part of a German family of musicians." (They're low class Japanese workers.)
"Oh, there most certainly a shogi gambling circuit. But it is all underground. It is rather shady, all things considered. I have tried my own hand at it, naturally." (Actually, it was a regular low-stakes game.)
"I didn't really understand, but apparently my final opponent was infamously powerful. She was...rather odd. She was a voluptuous woman who dressed as an exotic French maid." (I read this in a manga once.)
"So let me share with you something... I will tell you about the biggest crisis I ever faced in my gambling life. A shadowy organization was hosting a mysterious tournament... The game in which I participated was called King of Liars. It was quite a severe game. When you enter, they strip you of all your assets. Money, property, everything. You must use your wisdom, cunning, and luck to battle through challenge after challenge. For the final match, I had to face off with an odd duo... They called themselves the Honest Woman and the Liar Genius. During a break, I was careless and spilled some tea on my clothes. I was terrified that the stain would never come out. That was a very difficult time in my life. I was forced to win more quickly than I wanted, so that I could rush to the cleaners. I was able to get the stain out, but it was perilously close...If I had waited even another hour, I would have been forced to throw out my favorite dress." (None of this happened; I invented it from manga I read and a mundane incident of spilling tea on my dress during a game.)
"The worst is F-rank. If you're F-rank...I pay a special organization to have you killed. Your very existence is unforgivable." (Obviously not true, but it makes me seem fearsome.)
"Also, when you become C-rank, you gain the right to become my official servant--a knight. I have knights all across the world. They are all quite obedient." (I have no knights. I've never even left Japan.)
--------
If you fell for a good number of these, then congratulations:

Can you do celestia lunderburg x childhood best friend male!reader?
celestia lunderburg x male reader!
note: this is pure platonic because i refuse to write romance with males and i don't even know how to<33
warning: mentioned of gambling, death, spoilers for Danganronpa! bad ending, they act like siblings so..
ENJOY
none of y'all actually know how you become friends, but it definitely wasn't easy.
you both were children of high class people. you're parents were friends and that is the only reason why you guys met in the first place.
you both didn't like each other at first until you grew into each other's company and just became friends.
you both were young but with big dreams, and you were each other only friend and tbh, it was good for both of you.
as you grew old together you started to act more like siblings than friends, never miss a chance to piss off each other.
"what's your deal, is being a man hard for you?" "who piss in your tea?"
"wow today's weather looks like you. shitty" "the forecast did say things were gonna get wet, i bet it's the first time for you" "oh yes, several inches of rain I've heard, can you imagine that. more than one inch" "how about you move to the coming traffic and do the world a favor?"
she can never lie to you, not because she can't it just you grow old to all her lies, you can catch her lying before she even finishes it.
after y'all grow up, you kinda went your separate ways she started gambling and you went your own way, but you never lost contact.
you're the only one who she allowed to play and pet her cat Grand Bois Chéri Ludenberg, and you were the only one who her cat actually allowed near him aside from his owner Celestia
after she starts her new lifestyle and changes everything about herself, her style her looks and her name you remain the only one you actually know.
"you.. change your name?" "yes because Taeko Yasuhiro is a loser's name, from now on my name is celestia lunderburg" "wow, you are really full of surprised celesti"
and tbh, you didn't mind you knew how much she was obsessed with the whole European royalty special Victorian and rococo area, so it wasn't shocking.
but then you guys found yourselves both in Hope's Peak Academy, you can say you kinda enjoy being there together because at least you guys knew each other.
but then the game starts...
when monokoma first Introduce the game your eyes quickly lay on her, She stood away from the rest. what was she doing here?
you quickly ignore everyone and go to her. you guys actually were surprised that you saw each other here from all the places, but you were kinda happy because at least, you can trust someone here.
no matter how much you hate to deny it, you actually start feeling protective of her, she was your only friend and probably the only person you could trust here so you can risk losing her.
you guys were always together, everywhere. the cafeteria, the gym. everywhere to the point where the rest start suspect you two.
throughout all the Trials you guys would defend each other, even tho you wouldn't admit it. i mean after all you spend all time together so there's no way you both can be killer.
the other star suspects something about you two, that they accuse you two of murdering at some point.
"do you not know the rules dumb ass? there can't be two killers, and what would benefit us if we help each other kill? only one of us is going out alive anyway"
remember the time she sees chihiro in the gym room? yea you were there too. you guys were just sitting talking about nothing when s(he) appeared.
I'm the third trial when the double kill happens everything starts going down, you notice her keeping herself away even from you which was weird.
you see her start spending time with that fatass which pisses you off because that mf was such a weirdo who only wanted one thing from celestia
you try talking to her but she tells you it's none of your business and she doesn't need you anymore. it angers you more than it hurt
anyway after time you start talking with the other students, thinking that they might come in help but you never let your guards down.
when you see the fatass (i refuse to say his name) dead your mind quickly starts overthinking , could it be? no.. it can't be.
but that was nothing for what you were about to hear.
"Culprit…? I… know… the culprit’s… name… I remember… Ya-Yasuhiro…"
your blood runs cold. it can't be. as everyone else suspects yasuhiro hagakure, you knew exactly who he meant, the only person you know with this name.
as the trial went on you refuse to say a word, not defending or attacking everyone, you were silent.
what should you do? defend your friend and die with the others? or telling them the truth and watching your childhood friend die before your eyes?
you didn't say anything, even when suddenly everyone was throwing their suspect against you for being awfully quiet. you didn't even defend your self.
in the end the truth was revealed, she was the culprit but now they only wonder, why did he say yasuhiro?
"do i look like yasuhiro to you!? it's a loser's name!" she said furious.
"stop it teako.. it's over" you say so suddenly that everyone stops and stares at you.
"what are you talking about.."says aoi as she looks at you "teako yasuhiro.. that's her real name"
and that when everything ends, you didn't say any more words and so did she, she just smiled as she accepted her Faith. now it's time to vote.
you took the longer to vote, still in denial that's after everything you guys been through, this is how everything ends.
"[y/n] thank you for everything, i couldn't bring myself to kill you, that's why I push you away. im sorry" her words break you. as you turned away from her, it wasn't like one of her usual lies, it was the truth, and it kills you.
“Well then… take care, everyone. Perhaps we’ll meet again, in another life.” this was her lat words. and you still refuse to look into her eyes. you refuse to look at your friend die...
author note: this actually broke my heart wtf💔💔 btw i had to do research for her past to actually write this sooooo yep most of these information are actually canon search it yourself. and if i spell her name wrong, stfu

TELL ME ABOUT THE TALENTSWAP AU NOW!!!
OKAY, I'M SO GLAD SOMEONE FINALLY ASKED ME ABOUT THIS.
So, this Talentswap AU, it's like the average killing game
*Oh no, Celestia (the protag) got kidnapped and forced in a killing game with 15 other students. She finds Kiyo (the support), and they have to escape, waaaah*
To be honest, what inspired me to make this are Danganronpa V3 (I like how they have features like Scrum Debates, Argument Aranments, and Mass Panic Debates), and the Danganronpa: Another series
So, yeah, everyone's talents are swapped. If you click on the "Danganronpa: A Dice of Despair" tag, you can see everyone's designs and talents. So, what I mainly want to talk about are the characters, their talents, and their personalities, backstories, etc.
There will be a LOT of yapping below, so keep reading if you wanna
‼️‼️TRIGGER WARNING FOR MAJOR SPOILERS IN DANGANRONPA, DARK IMPLICATIONS, AND PERSONAL/SENSITIVE TOPICS‼️‼️
Celestia Ludenberg - Ultimate Lucky Student: So, in this AU, Celestia is the protagonist. She has a mix of her and Makoto's personalities. She can be cold and a douche at times, but she does care about everyone. Here, she has a mix of good luck and bad luck, but they both work at the same time... Somehow? Her real name is still Taeko Yasuhiro, and she made up her fake name to hide who she really is since her family has very dark secrets that could easily crumple her reputation if spilled. Hence why she also doesn't believe that she's really the Ultimate Lucky Student.
Korekiyo Shinguji - Ultimate Swordsman: Here, Kiyo is the support/deuteragonist. Celestia runs into him after escaping into the gym. In this AU, he's aloof, smart, but also starts showing kindness after a while. In Chapter One, he's the one to snap Celestia back to reality after she has her initial panic. He can come off as a bit hostile, but that's because growing up, he didn't have many friends as he spent most of his time training since his family are mostly famous warriors.
Sayaka Maizono - Ultimate Gambler: In this AU, she's more of an anti-hero then an antagonist. She's pretty rude and demanding, and she uses Kiibo to her advantage since he's the Ultimate Butler, and growing up, she had many butlers and maids to her aid whenever she needed them. Eventually, in Chapter Two, Sayaka starts to see that Celestia isn't a bad person, and starts to open up to her. Sayaka's cruel and sadistic personality stems from her childhood where her mother was killed by being burned, and her father basically abandoned her, so Celestia's really the only person she likes. Also, she ALWAYS wins every gambling match (Always? ALWAYS.) As well, she's a bit narcissistic, and thinks she's above everyone.
Byakuya Togami - Ultimate Gamer: Here, Byakuya is more of like an AI (like Chiaki), because his father wanted an heir, and none of his kids were "fit for it". So, Mr. Togami got a friend to create Byakuya. Though, Byakuya was never interested in the Togami Corporation, and took an interest in video games instead. He's a bit insensitive, but does mean well. He doesn't express much emotion, but is protective of the people he cares about, and he has a deep sense of justice. He knows his father doesn't love him, but as long as he has video games, he'll be happy.
Chiaki Nanami - Ultimate Pop Sensation: In this AU, Chiaki is a human. She's a lot more energetic then her game counterpart, and is like who she was in Danganronpa 3. Ever since she was a little girl, Chiaki had dreamed of being a famous star, despite her parents' wishes. She loves to write songs and sing with her group, even though after Chiaki gets trapped in the killing game, her girl group gets killed by the Ultimate Despair, which sends Chiaki into despair, though she masks it well. She'll write a song for everyone in the place, and she'll sing it as loud as she can. She's a great friend to have, like a golden retriever!
Gundham Tanaka - Ultimate Traditional Dancer: So, growing up, Gundham's home life was pretty bad. His family was VERY strict on what he ate, what he wore, and what he said. His house was near a street, and every afternoon, he would sneak there and feed all the tabby cats, making him gain their trust, and making him feel a sense of comfort. He's kind of an asshole in the AU, since he had a bad home life, and it left a huge mark on how he viewed people. Unfortunately, he doesn't want to warm up to anyone, as he's secretly scared they'll just use him, so he closes himself off, and he only trusts the tabby cats.
Hajime Hinata - Ultimate Inventor: Hajime's mother was rarely in the picture, causing him to develop a very close relationship with his father. When his father got ill and passed when Hajime was ten, he found all his father's unfinished inventions. Determined to finish them, Hajime worked for hours, nights even, to make his father proud. Hajime gets his vulgarity and bluntness from the highschool he was at before Hope's Peak Academy, since the crude and rudeness was basically the norm at where he was. Also, yes, Hajime is Izuru in this AU, though I'm still trying to figure out how to write that.
Mahiru Koizumi - Ultimate Astronaut: She's the Antagonist of the AU, so I probably should have placed her up way higher, but I'm too tired to change it. So, Mahiru's mother was an astronaut, and Mahiru has always been intrigued by space. In the village she lived at, she would tell the younger kids stories about space and amazing astronauts, forming a close bond with them. Unfortunately, a few months before Hope's Peak, Mahiru's village was burned down, leaving Mahiru homeless. When she saw the advertisement for Hope's Peak, she took it in a heartbeat. She's kind, a little naive, and protective to make sure she can keep everyone as safe as she can.
Mikan Tsumiki - Ultimate Pianist: School was a very tough time for Mikan, as she was always the targeting of bullying, though she felt safe in her music class. After a very traumatic event, Mikan basically clung to her piano, playing it every day, as many times as she could. She's shy, but also very determined and kind, and she's quite skilled at the other instruments other then piano! Which she personally finds to be very cool!
Nagito Komaeda - Ultimate Anthropologist: Nagito's house was very close to a library, so every day, after school, he would stop by the library and find a book. The ones about culture and evolution were the ones that intrigued him the most. He spent most of his childhood in the hospital, so the library was like a safe space for him. He's also aloof, but somewhat disturbing and also mature. He has to keep a close eye on Hajime, so he's basically Hajime's babysitter (lol).
Sonia Nevermind - Ultimate Detective: Sonia was always very smart, even as a young child, so she didn't have very many friends as she got frustrated by people who weren't as smart. One day, the detectives brought her in to see if she could help them with a case, and she solved it, pretty quickly. She can solve cases quicker then the average detective can. She's pretty quiet most of the time, but she also has a strong sense of justice, is no-nonsense and quick, and she really doesn't have as much empathy as she probably should.
Kaede Akamatsu - Ultimate Princess: So, Kaede is the princess of Japan, so she also has to follow strict and unfair rules. She often but heads with her parents since she wants to actually be her own person and not follow their rules. Her parents had arranged a marriage for her, and when she found out about this, she quickly signed up for Hope's Peak to escape this. She's kind, charming, curious, and always willing to learn. She may not give the best advice, but she tries her best!
Shuichi Saihara - Ultimate Artist: Shuichi here seems like your average Joe. He doesn't really talk highly of himself, and he just does art as a hobby, so he wasn't really expecting it to become his actual talent, lol. Despite all of this, he's fairly nice and pretty chill, but can also be pretty morbid due to the fact he was born and raised in an unusual church. No, he isn't religious. Also, he loves art, but he doesn't draw eyes when he draws people, as he finds it difficult to do (this will come in handy later).
Kirumi Tojo - Ultimate Magician: Growing up, Kirumi always loved magic. She was a street magician for a while before being allowed to enter a school that allowed her to embrace her interests. She's kind, energetic, and kooky since she had been seen as a "weird kid" by most people growing up. Despite this, she's incredibly loyal to those around her, and she can be scarily serious when she needs to.
Kiibo (Idabashi) - Ultimate Butler: So, in this AU, Kiibo is also human, so I will refer to him as Kiibo Idabashi. He always loved helping people, despite what they asked him to do. His father, Professor Idabashi, spent a lot of time on robotic engineers, so that led Kiibo to wander off... a LOT. He always enjoys to serve people, and he enjoys Celestia's company. He doesn't like Sayaka much though, as she uses him. There are also times where he feels empty, like a robot. Though, he's hardworking, devoted, and can take on even the hardest of tasks.
Rantaro Amami - Ultimate Photographer: Rantaro still has twelve sisters in this AU, and they always loved for him to take pictures of them, to where they would even ask him daily to take pictures of scenery they liked and outfits they liked. Rantaro found himself enjoying photography, even in the darkest of times. At first, he's bossy and a bit stubborn, but he eventually learns to trust his classmates and even befriends most of them. After that, he's kind, still a little stubborn and bossy, but more willing to hear others out. Also, him and Korekiyo become quite close very quickly!
I'm SO sorry that I talked more about the characters and their backstories then their roles!! I'll make a relationship chart of them in a post eventually. Also, this took a long while and isn't my usual content, so my bad! Also, if you read all of this, thank you 💕

Sayaka maizono and Celestia Ludenburg dating headcanons please~ I swear when I just started being in the Danganronpa fandom I had no idea people didn't like Sayaka but I love her.
sayaka maizono and celestia ludenberg dating hcs!
info: fluff, hc format, g/n!reader
a/n: sorry this took damn forever. i'm indifferent to both sayaka and celestia, i like celeste a little more but i'm pretty neutral towards both of em.
♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧
sayaka maizono
sayaka is pretty affectionate
her love language is gift giving so you're always waking up to cute notes around the house when she's gone
flowers are a frequent thing, whenever she sees a pretty bouquet she has to get it
she's touchy too, her favorite ways to touch you are by holding your arm, laying in your lap, and hand holding
she tends to take the lead on dates, and just in general too
she always has something fun planned to surprise you, like a fancy dinner at a reservations-only restaurant
remember, she's super famous so she can get you in anywhere
days of sitting at home doing nothing are rare, she simply won't let you be lazy
the two of you try many activities together, like music festivals, painting by the ocean, couples' cooking classes, etc.
sayaka treats you to a lavish lifestyle because she can, and she loves spoiling you
if you see something you like in a shop window but don't get it, guess what you find sitting on your bed the next day
in conclusion, dating sayaka is being flooded with love through touch and gift-giving, being spoiled, and filling your schedule with fun
celestia ludenberg
oh my goshhhhh you can't tell me celeste wouldn't spoil you and dress you up 24/7
she won't make you wear gothic lolita clothing like hers if you don't want to but god forbid you wear something secondhand
suddenly your entire closet has been replaced with designer outfits and your old clothing has been shoved somewhere else where she's hoping you'll forget them
anyway, when she buys you clothes you can bet your ass she's gonna make you put on a fashion show for her while she gives commentary
other than clothes though she'll frequently buy you material things like jewelry
she LOVES to see you wearing things she's bought you, it gives her a bit of a power trip
celeste's love language is quality time
the two of you don't need to be talking to have a good time with each other
her favorite activity with you actually involves complete silence
the two of you reading books in each other's presence, accompanied by tea and finger sandwiches that celeste had her butler prepare
this activity is only occasionally interrupted with dialogue, and its always very short
"is your novel living up to your expectations?"
"mhm"
"would you like another cup of tea?"
"why thank you, dear"
she is into physical touch too! she just doesn't crave it 24/7
she likes sitting in your lap or vice versa, she likes the power trip but also likes to feel like she's at someone else's whim sometimes
♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧♤♧
i think i need more of celeste...

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy 64 - Murder is Hardly a First-Date Activity
Day 28 of 100. We have some new folks to get to know, so let's get down to it. Go on and introduce yourselves.

And yet neither he nor Hiruko ever mentioned you guys. What's up with that? Sirei's killer really fucked us.

Swordy Lady is a proper samurai. I'll keep that in mind. Nice to have someone to join Takemaru and the late Hiruko in the "actually knows the pointy end of a weapon from their own asshole" category.

Oh my god, are you Sparkling Justice? Please tell me you're Sparkling Justice. I will be so thrilled if you're secretly a serial killer.
What are your Kanji?
凶鳥狂死香 Magadori Kyoshika
狂死香 composites 狂死 which means to die in madness with 香 for fragrance. The fragrance of dying in madness.
Your given name 凶鳥 brings together 凶 which is misfortune and 鳥 for bird. Birdy bird. Your name tells the tale of a tragic, unfortunate birdy bird whose fragrant carcass died in madness. You definitely either have blood on your hands already or you will at some point.

I think I might have been stung by a queen bee or something. But that could also have been the delirium talking.

Okay your interpretation of a migraine is hilarious and I have absolutely no idea where you got it from. Are you doing a bit? Do you have a sense of humor and you're trying to prank me? I am so confused and intrigued all at once by--

Ahhh, the tomato told you that. Okay. Now it all makes sense.
By the way, the kanji on your top is 待 for anticipation. That's interesting. No idea what it means but I'll try to keep it in mind.
You do you, Kyoshika. We'll talk again.

Oooo, assassin. Do you have any cool stories of people you've killed?
Okay, so you're Maki and Miu. Got it. Interesting combination. Did they give you any cool super-soldier powers? If I lift up your eyepatch, will I see a cyborg eye that shoots laser beams and can also see the true form of magenta? Or just a gross socket?

With a dash of Junko, but in a romantic way. I'm glad you specify "someone that wants to kill you" because that makes it really sweet and not... you know... something sprung on an unsuspecting lover.

You're man who grew up in a legacy of joyless consumerist killing, who longs to one day find that one special someone who he can truly have a meaningful murder with. It's sweet. I can't tell if you'd get along really well with Darumi or really badly.

I dunno. If your Revive-o-Matic's hooked up to recognize me then we can try a few things and see which one feels right.

Oh no, I completely understand. Murder is hardly a first-date activity. But we can at least have dinner, talk things over, see if anything clicks.

Gonna be honest, I thought that was just your head. It's weird how normal that seemed.

Oh no, I eat the rich and you are looking particularly scrumptious. Probably shouldn't go around advertising your edibility. That is a terrible fashion choice.

You don't even know why you wear that, huh? Honestly, I think you're just filling a quota.
Something about all this posturing feels disingenuous. I can't quite put my finger on why, but I kinda get Celestia Ludenberg from the Tomato Princess.
Her surname is 大鈴木 Oosuzuki which is literally just the ultra-common name 鈴木 Suzuki with a 大 dai attached for "grand" or "big" and then her given name is くらら kurara which means a dream.
Her name is Ifonly Megasmith. She is completely full of shit.

yourself chihiro or kirigiri you choose. or you can pick one for each
ooc://
2. Favorite Canon Thing about this character?
Celestia Ludenberg:
That she is a nerdy little manga lover. Also that she loves her cat so much.
Chihiro Fujisaki:
I may very well be misremembering or misinterpreting this. BUT
I recall liking the way Chihiro's gender was handled in Danganronpa S Ultimate Summer Camp.
I think a lot of the scenes in Summer Camp felt like nothing scenes to me, you know a lot of inconsequential fluff. But I remember there being some discussion of what type of bathing suit Chihiro would have or want and feeling like that was sort of a correction of the treatment of Chihiro's gender in Trigger Happy Havoc. Like, the stated truth in THH is that Chihiro is a boy who is pretending to be a girl to hide from his weakness, and we can tell this by looking at his body, which is not a narrative that I'm cool with.
But the bathing suit discussion made me feel like the narrative has changed to one where Chihiro's gender is something that can be self-determined, that can be personal and not necessarily binary, and that others aren't entitled to know. Again, I might be misremembering or misinterpreting, but it felt better to me, and it was one of the few places in that game where I was like "oh this is character development, this is someone on a journey of some kind."
If you actually want a simple canon fact, though, I'd say... That Chihiro has a good relationship with his dad.
Kyoko Kirigiri:
I really like her arc in chapter 5-6. Like, I like that she was 100% willing to throw Makoto under the bus and let him die AND that she felt wanted to make up for that by going into danger and saving him. It just adds so much more nuance to her character and their relationship. She is not just a straightforwardly heroic character or a flawless superhero. She's dynamic.
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
Celestia Ludenberg:
I have complicated feelings about her luck. I won't say that I hate it exactly, but it's an extension of my feelings about how luck is treated in Danganronpa in general. It's also part of why I think I initially misinterpreted her character in some big ways.
In short, I think it's weird that Danganronpa generally treats luck as simultaneously something ordinary and not special AND one of the only literal reality-altering superpowers a person can have. That's why I initially thought that Celeste worked hard to learn strategy and win games but lied and said she had the supernatural ability to never lose, but I now think the reverse is more of what they intended to come across; that she had the power to never lose games, but she pretends to be more cunning and strategic than she really is.
Chihiro Fujisaki:
The aforementioned issues with how Chihiro's gender is treated in THH. It's a massive can of worms where just bringing up clearly pisses off a bunch of fans for different reasons. But long story short, I think the game is 100% telling us that Chihiro's gender identity is determined by sex/gender assigned at birth, the game does not consider the possibility of a legitimate trans identity, and sees "getting stronger" as going back to living as a boy and performing traditional masculinity, and I think that's fucked up.
Kyoko Kirigiri:
At the risk of beating a dead horse here... It's how Kyoko serves as the mouthpiece for my problems with how Chihiro's gender is handled in THH. I think the player is meant to see Kyoko as the authoritative voice of what is true in class trials (along with Monokuma *most of the time*) and so she has the final word on Chihiro's gender. It's a bad look.
12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?
Celestia Ludenberg:
I want to believe that, even though it's hard, she would have eventually opened up to her classmates and become a better person if she survived. I think she would have eventually synthesized her two identities into something more authentic, because I don't really think Taeko Yasuhiro or Celestia Ludenberg are exactly right.
Chihiro Fujisaki:
I want to believe that Chihiro is a g-g-g-gaaaaamer!
Kyoko Kirigiri:
I see Kyoko's flat affect as being out of her control. Like, it's not that she has a good poker face, she just isn't naturally able to translate what she's feeling inside into the expression on her face, and it makes people misinterpret her as mysterious or aloof or cold-hearted more than she really is.

Weather Update: The First Danganronpa Game secretly had TWO rivals the entire time.
Lemme explain (spoilers, obviously, and this is gonna be a bit a rant whoops):
Usual Danganronpa Format as the fandom usually sees it: Students trapped in an unfamiliar location with no idea what's going on, plot driven partially by the mystery but mostly by the character interactions.
Trigger Happy Havoc: Students trapped in an altered but still familiar location with no idea what's going on, plot driven partially by the character interactions but mostly by the mystery.
In a setting like DR2, V3, or a vast majority of fangans, the participants in the killing game are given very little information about their circumstances aside from what Monokuma gives them, which is deliberately vague and designed to direct them towards killing each other. Additionally, the students are given very little ability to react to and retaliate against the Killing Game system in ways Monokuma won't expect. Weirdness aside DR2 basically went all according to plan until the final trial due to Monokuma's nigh-omniscience, and V3 was similar with the only debatable exception being Kokichi's elaborate scheme in Chapter 5. Since the students are dealing with such restricted conditions, the plot can't be fully driven by the students figuring out the setting, so instead the plot focuses on the conflict that derives from the various characters reacting to the game. In a story like this, it makes sense that the most antagonistic characters aside from the mastermind would be the ones with EXTREME personalities that shake things up a lot. Nagito, Kokichi and that character archetype that everyone expects to be in a fangan are necessary to make the plot more INTERESTING.
But THH is different. The students KNOW where they are (or at least they think they do, and turn out to be right). While they don't have any recollection of the Academy itself, they at least know what to EXPECT from Hope's Peak, and can from there point out nooks and crannies for delicious little clues that reveal more about the situation, putting together a narrative without Monokuma's handholding. Additionally, despite his blustering Monokuma is explicitly NOT omniscient here, or even practically omniscient, as methods to hide things from him are figured out early on. The students are able to DO something about their situation as the story progresses, and have figured out some aspects of the overarching mystery as it pertains to them long before the final trial (and NOT because the Mastermind deliberately put the info in their path). This greater information access and greater character agency in general means that while the character conflicts are still very much a part of the plot, the overarching theme is solving the mystery while adapting to the circumstances to avoid dying.
In a setting like this, extreme/bizarre personalities aren't really a boon to the plot. While the character reveals add layers and information in other settings, here it's a distraction. The students HAVE resources, and at least SOME of the tools they need. Engaging in over-the-top schemes and traps is a DETRIMENT to their current course of action even more than in later games, which is probably why Monokuma tries to encourage them to do such. Other characters in THH fit the bill of "stereotypical DR Rival" probably better than the supposed-rival Byakuya and THH's other Rival character actually do. Celestia Ludenberg comes to mind, in another DR setting she could be exactly the sort of mysterious and interesting rival the series is known for (and that she clearly wants to be), but in THH she's just another annoyance. Toko Fukawa and Genocider have the extreme personality down, but they only advance the plot in the students' favor when they approach things logically and in a less crazy manner. If Rivals in this game are supposed to fit the bill of "causes unexpected occurrences and advances the plot but still clashes with the rest of the cast in intense ways while doing so" like the other Rival characters in the series do, they have to play the role under a different ruleset. Rather than representing a philosophical extreme through their personality, these rivals have to represent a different extreme: their methods and rationale when it comes to SOLVING THE MYSTERY / ESCAPING THE GAME.
And in this regard, Byakuya Togami plays the role wonderfully. The vast majority of the students in the game are very passive when it comes to solving the mystery. Sure, they get very active when trying to escape by killing someone, but that's just dancing to Monokuma's tune. Rather than wondering what to do, Byakuya makes his actions clear from the start, and everything he does in the game that's antagonistic fits that same M.O., while not doing anything that would put him in an uncertain position. He learns how the trial system functions, then during Chapter 2 he performs an experiment to analyze the other students further. His antagonism largely stems from viewing the other students as opponents, so his pragmatic approach makes sense, but he doesn't JUST analyze the players. He also analyzes the metaphorical board, and it's clear he's trying to get every scrap of info he can on his situation before fully committing to action (exhibit A: him spending so much freaking time in the library). The only stereotypically "nuts" thing he really does is down that bottle of poison/protein in Chapter 4. He's proving a point. He'll do anything it takes to win, and knowledge is power. Hence his active role in acquiring info about the game, the setting, and the other students' behaviors.
But Byakuya can't be the only Rival here. While he might be solving some mysteries in the background, we don't get to see much of it because the whole point of his character early on is conflict: his active versus the other's passive. He won't share his findings or really work with others, which is not good when our precious baby protag Makoto is trying to solve the mystery himself. Byakuya can't move the plot forward like that until after Chapter 4. Chapter 5 onward, Byakuya's method to his madness is revealed, and he contributes a lot to solving the mystery and directing the other students to getting more of the info he needs (exhibit A, dismantling Monokuma). And... that doesn't really fit with the formula later games set. Chapter 5 is when conflicts with the rival comes to head, and shenanigans abound. Nagito does it. Kokichi does it. But Byakuya isn't particularly inclined. Shenanigans with his own life at stake aren't his methods, they're just complications. But... the stuff still comes to a head with THH's other rival. The other character that's been progressing the plot in active ways that contrast with the other students, and clashing with the rest of the cast AND the player. The character whose life IS on the line in Chapter 5.
You've probably guessed by now that I'm talking about Kyoko Kirigiri.
When we look at her in retrospect, Kyoko doesn't raise any alarms compared to the craziness of the rest of the franchise. She helps with the investigations and moves the trials forward, she's nowhere near the craziness brought by Nagito and Kokichi, and generally just really competent. We categorize her in the "Assistant" role, similar to Chiaki and Shuichi/Kaede/Kaito/Maki/whoever (hey wait a second where did we even come up with this archetype anyway, if V3 doesn't even really seem to have one character who properly fits it?) She definitely fits the Assistant bill in DR3, but this ain't DR3. She doesn't fit the bill for stereotypical Danganronpa Trial Rival... but as previously established, Byakuya doesn't either. So let's go deeper and look at things in context. Because from the start of the game, Kyoko is weird. Really weird.
We're introduced not knowing anything about her, and she keeps it that way for a LONG time. "Ultimate ???" just screams she's going to be important later but you just don't know how (remember, this was BEFORE Rantaro). She's really helpful during the trials and is three steps ahead of everyone, but... aside from that a lot of her actions are really, REALLY conflict inducing. She is happy to get info from other students, but it's clear there's a lot she isn't sharing. She says ominous things to Monokuma that make no sense ("What did you do to my body?" anyone?) and seems VERY focused on the mystery. Just like Byakuya, she's taking an active role in analyzing every detail about the circumstances. And interestingly enough, she's just as paranoid as he is, just in different ways. As Makoto spends more time around her she manipulates him (and others) in some really unnerving ways, and her dynamics with other characters outside of trials are always either generically placating to keep things calm or downright low-key hostile when things don't go according to plan. Just like with Byakuya, for the vast majority of the game she doesn't trust anybody. And in chapter 5, these aspects of her character are brought into full view. She spends the entire chapter hiding away, she mysteriously appears in Makoto's room (side note: Nagito and Kokichi both have "looking over the protag in an unnerving fashion" pics. Byakuya doesn't. Kyoko DOES). It becomes clear in the trial how much she's hiding and how much she's been manipulating things. Chapter 5 is an impossible trial designed as a trap for HER. Her seemingly innocuous actions have come in full domino effect. And only Makoto and the power of being a Man Literally To Unpredictable To Die can save her.
(Makoto obviously isn't a rival character, but it's interesting to see how by THH's requirements he very well could have fit the bill. Think of him from Hina's or Hiro's perspective: he's seemingly innocuous, yet survived way longer than anyone would expect him to, often figures out just the right thing to say, both Byakuya and Kyoko interact with him a lot when neither of them seem to care about anyone else, and ultimately seems to become a lot more actively involved in mystery solving despite not having any right too. Couple that with the fact that he spent a couple days "bedridden" when from an outsider's perspective he could have been doing anything, and ngl Makoto sus. He even survives an execution!)
Both Byakuya and Kyoko take turns providing conflict to the story in ways that develop the plot but COMPLETELY clash with the passive methods of everyone else. They practically take turns being the one doing whatever crazy crap needs to get done. Their character arcs parallel each other too. Byakuya has to learn about the value of human life and emotional connection. Kyoko knows perfectly well how important life and emotions are, but she needs to learn that it's a two-way street, that trust needs to be established and that she doesn't have to do everything important herself. Byakuya, while lacking in empathy, is fully willing to work with others and outsource important tasks. He just views it as a business transaction. BOTH of them are prideful frickers who think they're the only one with a brain cell, and it's up to Makoto to undergo his own character arc, become their friend, and prove them wrong. And then once Makoto DOES finally take control and prove he's the one with the audacity required to actually get everything working, he's able to redirect both Byakuya and Kyoko into finally teaming up with everyone and stopping chaos so much chaos. Without either of them, Makoto couldn't have made it to the final trial (we can see when Kyoko dies in the Bad Ending that it's basically game over, the mystery CAN'T be solved, and I fully believe that the circumstances would have ended similarly if Byakuya had died and they'd lost his pragmatic logical reasoning). But without Makoto, Kyoko and Byakuya couldn't have made it THROUGH the final trial. All three of them are literary foils of each other.
(This is another reason why seeing all three of them in the final trial of DR2 is so fun, because the Trial Point Getters are a well-oiled machine by that point and you get to see them play off each other as 100% allies, while once again getting to see through Hajime's eyes how 100% sus all three of them really are once they get going.)
So that's why I think THH has some really good Rivals, despite neither Byakuya nor Kyoko fitting what we've come to expect from the formula. They aren't insane or representing a philosophical extreme, they're representing clashing viewpoints in solving a mystery and escaping the killing game. In other entries in the series, Byakuya and Kyoko would be killing game fodder for twisty midgame chapters and otherwise not being able to contribute much of interest. But in Trigger Happy Havoc? They're exactly what the game needs to elevate it from simple mystery-solving to full-blown ART.
TL;DR Byakuya and Kyoko are awesome and I love them and a lot of people sleep on their status as Danganronpa Rivals because they grade them on a standard that I think is unfair and ignores their strengths as characters. Also Makoto suddenly becomes way more interesting when viewed through a perspective other than his own. The first Danganronpa game is a materpiece and more fangans need to realize that they don't have to play by the supposed "series formula". After all, this game didn't.
#holy heck this was long#obviously the final trial's success wasn't JUST dependent on the Trial Point Getters#Hina and Toko are important characters who deserve respect#but this wasn't about them#(I still say the latter two chapters would have been way more interesting if Chihiro had survived instead of Hiro#but what we got was great so I'll take what I can get)#danganronpa#danganronpa: trigger happy havoc#byakuya togami#kyoko kirigiri#makoto naegi#danganronpa rivals#rivals#literary devices#video game writing
