So Blue is 100% right in the fact Dark can just peek into his head to see what he feels about Dark. So Dark asking him up front is kinda "meaningless".

Something I enjoy about them compared to Blue and Red is that...well Dark Link doesn't pretend to be incapable.

Blue gets annoyed MANY times with how Red isn't that skilled of a fighter and ends up in deep shit because he's either not taking stuff seriously or is acting like an idiot.

Their FIRST meeting for Dark and Blue was that fight. Which Blue fucking started lmfao.

And Dark absolutely mopped the floor with him.

Dark in general is capable of handling his own shit and can be serious when it's asked for.

He actually understands Blue on an emotional level while the others tend to just get annoyed with how Blue acts. (Reasonably so dude's annoying lmfao XD)

But Dark offers understanding.

This is personally funny to me but Blue getting easily flustered around Dark in some part stems from the fact Dark's voice is very feminine and soft spoken.

I just personally think with the manga there's enough evidence to say Blue gets flustered around girls somewhat easily XD

What's really funny about the current convo is you could compare it to their previous one where Blue visited Dark in the headspace to ask if he was really "Difficult".

He's pretty open to most people! However, some he just can't get past the unsettling feeling they give him, some he can tell are untruthful in general, and some plain disturb him (luchino's hunter form). Also, some people just really don't like him because of his tone/attitude. He got a whole extra tier for his haters😭

DAMIR JELEN: THE STORYTELLER

He is locked in 🤞 with his Hullabaloo friends ofc. He's mostly indifferent towards a lot of people considering he doesn't care for others opinions of himself. He could not give two shits if someone thinks badly of him, he'll just keep his distance if they keep theirs. He also just doesn't know enough people well enough to have certain opinions either way. SAINT SALLOW: THE ARCHITECT

Saint is on decent terms with most of the manor! He's easygoing (most of the time) and shows respect even when it's not given in return. However, he has an extremely bad relationship with Norton 😭 he brings out the absolute worst, annoyed side in Saint, and they constantly quarrel if made to be in the same room together. Saint is honestly a bit scared of him. Ada also unsettles him from her relationship with Emil.

CECIL DOMENECH: THE SEAMSTER

Bro is the #2 hater in this post. He likes to keep his circle a little close-knit, but will get along with people so long as they show him respect. He has an attitude from his life before the manor that he can't let go, and it makes tensions a little high. He especially can't let a grudge go -- maybe if someone close to him 'fucks up' in his head, he can forgive it. But with someone he's not close to it just alienates him from them. He also tends to stay away from people he finds 'weird', like Murro or Emil. He's from a high-class family so he holds some opinionated beliefs whether he thinks he does or not.

HEATH DEMKIS: THE FIREWATCH

He's the #1 hater out of all my characters. He legitimately cannot stand most of the manor, or at most tolerates them. Hes a bit reclusive and close-minded, having only lived with his mom and then on his own from a very young age. His close friends were the people who offered him comfort when he first came to the manor, Emily and Ada specifically. He is unsettled by survivors & hunters that deal with gods, demons, or 'gifts' (such as Eli), and mostly just scared of the supernatural. He tolerates a few hunters either because they're extremely friendly/almost 'kidlike' in his mind (Robbie, gala even though she's not a child), or he can place enough trust in them to be neutral towards him (Michiko, Alva).

NIGEL CAHALL: THE CHIMNEY SWEEP

Nigel likes most people in the manor, but is a bit nervous around women as he doesn't want to come off as brash or rude to them. He has an attitude, although not as much as Cecil, but he is very loud and persistent. He cracks shitty jokes and won't shut up. So, if he sees a LOT of uncomfortable reactions from someone he'll just distance himself. He's not really open to changing so that's his way of remedying the relationship. He cannot stand people who don't work for what they want/a better life, or at least people he *thinks* are like that because he hasn't gotten to know them. Which is why he's one of my few characters who's actually friends with Norton. He is also just unsettled by some people (Aesop, Matthias, Emil).

LAVINIA AGNELLI: THE KEYHOLDER

He is scared of most people, even his close friends, simply from his absolutely terrible experiences from his past & then his seclusion in the manor. It is not specifically about survivors vs hunters, just in general he's quite timid. He does not like to interact with the residents and will try his best to be unseen. His close friends are quiet. If someone has an issue with him, he gladly stays away. Some people just creep him out, like Weepy. Some people are too much/too intense for him, like Mike, Lily, and Ada. (Surprisingly, he does like hullabaloo more than regular Mike).

DAMILO BATHORY: THE BUTCHER

He doesn't see a reason to dislike most people unless they give him a reason. He's generally pretty welcoming, but very open about his... Bloody habits. If I made an extra tier for him of all the people who didn't like him, it would probably be half the cast, so I didn't. First impression

The prologue/first chapter made it seem like Morvay was going to be some kind of feisty bratty rude bad boy type. Which would work for me, of course.

My most unpopular opinion about Morvay is that I love Morvay.

My second most unpopular opinion about Morvay is that his SR looks good and I like it better than his SSR. I really enjoy his round, bubbly muscles and his sweet baby face. Lazuline: Would probably get along well with Winnie because they're both quiet, nerdy, and bookish. Marghan would annoy her and Hestal would absolutely disgust her.

She'd also get along with OJ because they're both misunderstood and have a ton of parental pressure on them. Also, a couple different people have said they think OJ is nonbinary (he must have a vibe or something lol), and if that's the case then Cyana might relate to him on that level, as Oberon would not accept OJ's gender identity just like Cerulea wouldn't accept Cyana's homosexuality.

Marine: She and Trista would be BFFs. Trista has a dominant, manipulative personality and Marine is more of a naïve follower, so I imagine they have a "Rocky and Mugsy" dynamic going on. They're destructive enough alone, but together they become an unstoppable storm of chaos. They cause a scene at every royal gala they attend, and their antics destroyed an entire convention center at least once. Trista would try to convince Marine to help her kill her little brother Nate, and Marine is so desperate for friendship that she'd probably agree to it. (But of course Marine fucks up everything she does, so she sabotages Trista's plans and Natey Potatey lives to see another day!)

Skylie: Skylie is a friendly and polite girl who gets along with just about everyone she meets (or at least tries to). She finds foreign people fascinating because she's always sheltered in her little palace life. She would be particularly interested in Winnie because they both love reading. Skylie would want to help Blomi solve the Mystery of the Wailing Halls in Folkvar Castle, and together they might just free Sygbarne from her tower. One person Skylie doesn't get along with is the little brat Trista, and she would try to protect Nate from her. She would like to know the other royal offspring too, but since she's just a little girl, most of them aren't interested in talking to her...except Goryx, that evil fuck. He's a huge book nerd and so is Skylie, so I could imagine him preying on that to lure her into joining the Crescent Cult. Promising her unlimited knowledge and power, and she gets to wear a pretty mask! Skylie's read too many fantasy books about evil wizards to fall for his bullshit though. She probably kicks him in the nuts, tells security, and gets him booted from the function lol.

Cobalt: Nate and Trista are the only ones remotely close to Cobalt's age, but I don't think he'd get along with them because they actually act like kids, and he acts like...well, a highly neurotic adult. This kid's anxiety is so bad and his childhood is so strict. Especially since his mother and grandmother scare him with Lindist scripture, telling him how evil non-commoners and foreigners are, so he'd be terrified of everyone he encountered.

reblogged a post earlier from a historiany person about how distrust in historians online is really fucked up and how standing against it makes actual historians come off as killjoys and they are so right. "historians don't want you to know this" or blanket "historians will say they were just friends" sentiments are harmful, esp in the rise of people opting to believe conspiracy theories over institutional research. of course biases seep through, of course some historians are going to go the "they were friends" bs because all people within a field of study are going to be varied, but we wouldn't know there's anything to """lie""" about in the first place if other historians weren't educating on opposing takes or evidence.

anywayyy i added some tags tho about how historian attitudes while making these corrections can sometimes... end up causing a loop of hostility when done too rudely, then deleted bc i figured it was not the time or place lol. and without the context of my own history almost becoming a humanities girlie it probably wouldn't have not come off right. but also. i do think about it a lot. not just historians, but i suppose i have the most examples for it.

when you go into a specialized field of study you are going to become more knowledgeable on it than the average person. that is the point. it becomes your job to hold this knowledge because not everyone in the world can hold it, and there is knowledge you aren't going to hold because you opted to study this thing instead. it has to realistically be a community effort to help keep facts alive. we need to be cognizant of not spreading misinfo or chase gut feelings about not having all the facts, but a lot of times there's no reason for someone to realize they're wrong about certain things.

so i think it is reasonable to expect people to make mistakes like equating heiroglyphs to emojis or calling baroque composition renaissance. when those posts or term misuses become super widespread i'm sure that is frustrating and it does need to be corrected if there's an opportunity to. and it can put a damper on the fun to have someone come in and shift things, but hey if the basis of a joke isn't true then we deserve to move onto jokes that are grounded in more accurate comparisons. it's great to learn more.

us being receptive to that teaching is just one side of the coin. historians or whatever specialist is coming in to correct have to understand that a well-intentioned misunderstanding or misuse of a term from an average person, who by definition of being average would not have learned this specialized knowledge, is not a personal attack on them. you are not your field. so if you do jump onto a post swinging about how annoying it is to see misconceptions pushed like this, people are going to get annoyed lol. you are, in that setting, being a killjoy because you're being a dick to people who have no reason to have known otherwise that they were wrong about something that is, frankly, a low risk thing to be wrong about typically.

malicious history rewrites or more overtly harmful skewed facts deserve outrage, of course, but when most of the interactions the average person on here sees from historians might be hostile attacks about how stupid we all are for not knowing renaissance isn't baroque, it doesn't inspire much desire to learn more... and you aren't really representing yourself or your field very well. you are not doing a very good job of being humanity's communal knowledge holder here if you're alienating people from knowledge when delivering it.

again, it is also up to us to do what we can to curb misinfo and to understand that one person does not represent the entire field. critical thought, etc. it is just a two-way street too.

basically i just wish people could understand "historians/scientists/whatever are lying to you!!!!!" bullshit IS a personal attack, or some conspiracy theorist positioning themselves as more of an authority than scientists does deserve outrage because that's so harmful! but "omg isn't it crazy that emojis are like modern day hieroglyphics" is... not a personal attack nor is it all that harmful on its own, and it is kind of weird to treat it with the same offense as the prior examples when understandably stepping in to correct or elaborate lol. if anything you'd think those would be opportunities to talk about what you're passionate about.

Anyway! Yeah they're very different! And thats just cause of how Eb connects with the two! Its a very different set of circumstances between each dude, and she has recognized this and does shit differently depending on who it is she's being all lovey dovey with.

Like with Hank, the way she interacts with him is fairly low key, subtle. She knows he doesn't have much patience and he's always irritated and has a short fuse, and he's "Experiencing The Horrors 24/7", so the way she interacts with/loves on him is very subdued. She speaks quieter, in a less brash tone, she visually indicates she's gonna touch him before she tries doing something as small as grabbing his hand, she definitely does still intentionally get on his nerves and acts annoying towards him but she doesn't over do it; she knows what his limit for playfulness is and cuts it out when she sees he's not willing to entertain it anymore. I wouldn't really say she's "gentle" with him, because she isn't like changing her behavior to be sweeter and more kind with him; she's the same rude snarky jackass that she is with everybody. What she is is more considerate with how she handles him, cause she knows he can't handle the loud, big gestures that she affords to her other partners. And its not like she's changing herself Just For Hank cause he wouldn't be able to deal with her otherwise, she actively makes the choice to change her approach because she Can Do That and has no problem doing so. To expand on the example I provided on twt, with Hank shes like "I'm gonna annoy you because I know you get a certain level of fun out of being made to feel something but I know your limits and when I reach them well be considerate and slow with one another, thats how you know I love you" ykwim. They're very much the type of couple thats quiet and chill about it (until they're behind closed doors, if you get my drift lmao)

Now, with Tricky, she is EXPLOSIVE. She is LOUD and HYPER and goes fucking WILD when she's getting up to romantic hijinks and mischief with that mf. He doesn't have NEARLY the same needs as Hank does so he can just kind of fuck around and not suffer any personal consequences for it, and Eb obviously recognizes it. So the way she handles him is just by not restricting herself the same way she does ""normal"" (as in, not Tricky's level of out of your mind) people and let's full loose. They're loud, they scream alot, they grab wherever at each other whenever they feel like with no warning, they yell obscenities at each other and go out on a whim to do god knows what, they literally use the other like stim toys!! They're insane about each other! Like the example I provided on twt, ebs like "when I die for real promise me you'll devour my flesh and bones" and trickys like "oh fuck yeah I will" and then they squeeze the shit out of each other. They're very much the "heart bare on their sleeves, loud as fuck about it" type of couple!

The only real commonality between these relationships (aside from like, yanno, there being unconditional love felt between eb and tricky and eb and hank) is just that they're all really into fighting, obvs. And not like, argument type shit, I mean they will physically assault each other for fun because they all just like that sort of shit! Eb obvs knows she's not gonna be able to seriously injure/actually murder either Hank or Tricky (at least not without a weapon) but loves the adrenaline rush from putting herself in a position where she could either get her shit rocked or beat the shit out of someone. Hank and Tricky are just bloodthirsty anyway, we all know this. But they all know what's too far and what would be going over the line so its not like anything actually traumatizing is gonna happen between them and her whenever they battle. And plus, Eb kinda sees it as a trust affirming exercise, cause she knows damn well both Hank and Tricky could kill her at any moment's notice. So the fact that she will physically engage them like this and they will entertain it, but not go as far as to murder her without hesitation (or her approval, but that's a whole other thing), proves to her she can put the trust you have to put into someone in order to open your heart up to them romantically, yanno?
