heeseung âËĘÉ
it had been 3 days since you left heeseung standing in your apartment, dumbfounded and unsure of where you were. you really had hoped he would run after you that night but he didnât and that seemed to put the nail in the coffin for you.Â
were you ready to throw away your relationship all because of this?Â
was it worth it to lose the person you love?Â
you had pondered on so many questions since that night and each question felt like you were guilt tripping yourself into thinking that your own feelings werenât valid, like you were trying to convince yourself that you were overreacting and that heeseung was right.Â
why were you being so annoying?
but these questions only led to more questions instead of answers.
were you being annoying or were you just tired of not being heard?Â
if you hadnât been the one to constantly ask him to clean up after himself would he have done it on his own?Â
why were you trying to come up with reasons to talk yourself back into his arms when you truly knew deep down the answer you were looking forâŚ
you just werenât ready to come to terms with it.Â
so here you were, hurriedly packing what you could before heeseung could come home. and just to your luck, he had arrived much earlier than you anticipated. âyn?â heeseungs says, shock painted across his face as he sees you standing in the hallway with a box of your things.Â
âwh- what are you doing?â he asks, eyes falling on the box in your hands.Â
both of you knew the answer to that.Â
âi think- i canât do this anymore, heeâŚÂ
i did a lot of thinking these past fews days and everything i thought of i found myself trying to make excuses for you. trying to figure out why i was acting this way and why i was going out of my way to make it seem like i was the one causing these issues and stressing myself out and then i realizedâŚÂ
why was i trying to compromise my own happiness and well being for someone who didnât care about me?Â
for someone who couldnât simply understand where i was coming from and couldnât even listen to me when all i would ask for was something so easy as to clean up after yourself.Â
heeseung, youâre grown and so am i and iâm done acting like your words and actions donât hurt solely for the fact that i donât want to lose you.Â
weâre over.â your eyes had tears pooling in them but you refused to let them fall in front of heeseung.Â
âwhat?â heeseung asks, slipping his shoes off and running over to you in an attempt to stop you, reaching for the box but you move out of the way before he can.Â
âyn.. can we please talk about this? donât jump to conclusions just because youâre hurt. this isnât what you want, what about us?Â
are you willing to throw us away because of some petty fight?â and thatâs when you knew that you and heeseung werenât on the same page⌠at all.Â
âthatâs what you have to say?â and at this point you had lost the fight to stop the tears from falling.Â
âyou havenât even apologized? and now youâre here trying to gaslight me into thinking that what iâm feeling is just the result of a petty fight?Â
hee, you never listen to me. you dismissed my feelings and all i asked was you clean up our bedroom because i was tired. iâm sorry but if that was such a hard task then i donât know what to tell you.Â
iâm not jumping to conclusions. heeseung, weâre done.â you say, pushing passed him so you could leave and move on. start new and heal from this pain.Â
âreally? youâre just going to walk away?â heeseung asks, still refusing to take accountability for his actions.Â
âiâm not walking away⌠you pushed me away.â
âbye, heeseung.â
jongseong âËĘÉ
jay hadnât been able to pick up a bottle of alcohol since that night⌠5 months ago. he hadnât realized he developed a bad habit of drinking all because he couldnât wrap his head around the fact that his loving girlfriend, the one who took care of him, who loved him, who fought for him to make things right, was slowly becoming someone he didnât love anymore.Â
so why was it that now that you two were broken up, he wants nothing more to get back together with you?Â
he thought about the day you finally came back. after you ran out in the middle of the night jay didnât see you for a whole week and by the end of that week, you would be gone for good.Â
âis this what you really want?â jay had asked you right before you left.Â
âits not what i want⌠but it doesnât seem like what i want would be something that could ever happen if i stayed with you.Â
you hurt me, jay. all i ever did was care for you and love you and it made me realize i hadnât felt care or love from you for a while now.Â
i truly hope that you get help for your drinking problem but iâm sorry iâm not going to be the one to fix it for you.â and with that you were gone. out of jayâs life and although you had said that you werenât going to be the one to fix his drinking problem, in a lot of ways; you did fix it.Â
he hadnât drank since that night and vowed to himself that he wouldnât drink ever again and 5 months after, heâs kept that promise.Â
jay wished that he did keep his promise to you.Â
when he finally asked you to be his girlfriend, he had promised to hold your heart close to his and to never break it. only to find himself distancing his heart from yours and eventually shattering it into millions of pieces when you got into a fight that night.Â
but he was now forced to face all of this all over again as you stood in front of him, mirroring the same shocked face he had as the two of you run into each other at a mutual friends party.Â
you hadnât seen jay since that night and although your heart ached for him, you had to choose yourself. you couldnât stand being with someone who saw you as overbearing when all you did was care for and love them.Â
you truly had been worried about jay ever since his drinking habits had gone worse and maybe you couldâve gone about it a better way and not made him feel attacked for his actions but he didnât have the same consideration for you so why should you do the same⌠right?Â
âh-hi.. yn. you look good.â jay stutters.Â
âyou do too, um.. iââ you begin to say but he cuts you off. âlook, i know we didnât end on the right foot and these past five months have been hard for me so i could only imagine how hard theyâve been on you.Â
i wasnât right to treat you that way and iâm sorry iâm only realizing it now. i miss you so much and i spend countless nights thinking about you. reminiscing on the good times and how i let myself ruin all of it.Â
iâm sorry, yn.â it all comes out like word vomit and quite frankly, you werenât prepared to hear any of it. you also hadnât expected him to have this much of grasp on your relationship five months after, but it was all too late.Â
âiâm sorry too, jayâ but i canât keep doing this. i think you need to move on. i know i willâŚâ you muttered.
âfor what itâs worth⌠you did help me⌠iâm five months sober.â he confesses and you give him a tight lipped smile.Â
âtake care of yourself, ok?â you say before turning around to leave and although jay wished that he couldâve said all of this five months sooner in hopes that it wouldâve fixed your relationship, he respects your wishes and just hopes that the next guy who comes around would love you the way you deserved to be loved.Â
jaeyun âËĘÉ
in the time youâve dated jake or quite frankly, anyone, they had never raised their voice and spoke to you in that way. jake seemed so angry and upset that it scared you. you knew that jake would never hurt you but his words pierced your heart in ways that caused you pain you had never felt before, especially from someone you love and was supposed to love you.
it always hurts more when it comes from someone you love right?Â
you had come home the next day and found jake sleeping on the couch, hugging the plushy that he often said looked like you.Â
youâd be lying if you said that seeing him like this didnât make your heart hurt⌠but it did.Â
it seemed like jake had fallen asleep on the couch waiting for you but you couldnât shake the feeling.
the feeling of being unwanted, unloved, undesirable, and not enough for someone who is supposed to love you.Â
but if jake had loved you he wouldnât have raised his voice at you.. let alone speak to you in that tone and used language that was meant to hurt someone.Â
âyn? is that you?â he says, stretching on the couch and rubbing his eyes, causing you to snap out of it. you quickly wipe away the tears that had miraculously appeared. âum, yeah. i just came to grab some things. you can go back to sleeping..â you explained as you made your way to your shared bedroom.Â
âbaby? can we talk?â jake says, peering into the room as he sees you packing your things inside of duffel bag. âwait- what are you packing? are you leaving? baby, please donât do this, can we talk this out?â he was now on his knees in front of you, clutching onto your sweater while he begged.Â
âjake, get up.â you say, rolling your eyes at him.Â
âits just for a few days, i need time to myself- i need to think, ok?â you said and even now, even when youâre still hurting because of him from the night before, you were here trying to comfort him.Â
jake stands up with a sniffle and he attempts to link your hands together but you pull away to continue packing your bag. âwhen are we going to talk about this? i love you, i donât want you to leave⌠please stay.â he continues to beg and although its working, you needed to stay strong.Â
âif you loved me you wouldnât have spoken to me like that. people who love each other donât speak to people they love that way.Â
jake, you hurt me⌠and i donât know what i did to deserve that treatment but i just wanted help. i spent all day running errands despite feeling like shit because of my period and you dismissed my feelings like it was nothing.Â
that blanket meant so much to me, you knew that it was from my late grandmother yet you tossed it aside for your own accord because you didnât have the same care for me and the things i love the way i do for you.â you said with a huff as you stuffed the last of your things into the bag.Â
âwhen will you come back?â was all jake asked and all you could muster up was a shrug, because you werenât entirely sure when you would be back.Â
needless to say, a few days turned into a few weeks, and a few weeks turned into a few months and at some point you found yourself not having the need to come back.Â
you wished you could get the closure you wanted from jake and you were sure he also wanted that, but walking away was something you needed to do. even if it was just one instance where jake spoke to you that way, it was enough for you to leave because you werenât going to allow yourself to be with someone who found it in themselves to speak that way to someone they supposedly loved.Â
not then, not now, and not ever.
sunghoon âËĘÉ
sunghoon hadnât known what he was doing, it was like his body was moving before his brain could think because he was running back inside and grabbing his car keys to drive after you.Â
he wasnât sure where you were headed off to but he had guessed that you were most likely going to stay with your mom. you were always close with your mom and she often was the person you went to when you were having troubles if you didnât go to sunghoon.Â
sunghoon knew he fucked up and he shouldnât have treated you that way let alone let some strangers treat you that way. he didnât know what let him get to the point where he was allowing these men to speak about you, the girl that he loved, in a way that made you feel small. demeaning and degrading you in a way that he hadnât realized and even if he did, he chose to look away instead of defend you all because he was filled with the greed of wanting this promotion.Â
was it even worth it anymore if it meant losing you?Â
sunghoon was speeding at this point and although you hadnât left much before he had went to follow you, there was no one else in the streets as he sped through to catch up to you.Â
in a short amount of time, heâs turning into the street that your mom lives on and sure enough, he sees you just about to walk up to the front door. he hapazardly parks the car on the side of the street and stumbles out of his car to get to you.Â
âyn, please. wait, lets talk about this!â he says and youâre startled at sunghoon suddenly appearing and you wipe the tears from your face and blink a few times to make sure he was actually there.Â
âhoon? what are you doing here?â you ask, stepping down the small stairway that led to your momâs home. âi couldnât just let you leave like that, we need to talk-
look iâm sorry for the way i treated you and even more sorry that i let them treat you that way. i love you so much and i couldnât imagine the amount of hurt i caused you for making it seem like i was okay with letting them say those things about you all because i wanted that promotion so damn bad.Â
i was selfish and greedy but those are the things that make me want you more. i donât want you to leave and walk away from me because i am selfish and greedy and i want you all to myself.Â
iâm sorry that i didnât defend you and i made you feel smallâŚâ he says and at this point sunghoon is crying. his voice breaks with every other word and you truly hadnât seen sunghoon in this much distress, ever.Â
you didnât know how to respond but the longer you looked into sunghoonâs bloodshot eyes, the more confused you became.Â
you could tell sunghoon was sincere but you didnât think this was something that could be fixed right then and there. your sensitivity was always something you struggled with and sunghoon knew that yet he brushed off your feelings like it was nothing.Â
âyou shouldnât have driven out all this wayâŚÂ
because although i appreciate your apology i donât know that iâm in the right place to accept it or to forgive you.Â
sunghoon you hurt me and you let others hurt me.Â
iâm selfish too, i want you all to myself too and i wouldnât have stayed so long if i didnât love you and want to be with you⌠but-
i donât know if i can be with someone that doesnât see me in the way i deserve.Â
and i certainly know i donât deserve any of that.â both of your attention is drawn to the sound of the front door as it opens, revealing your mother in her nightwear and arms crossed; a displeased expression on her face.Â
âiâll reach out to you when iâm ready.â you say and without another word youâre retreating into your momâs home, hiding away from sunghoon and preparing yourself to have to face the inevitable one day.Â
sunghoon on the other hand, drags himself to his car, head hanging low as he has to come to terms that his own selfishness and greed for the one he loved was also what caused him to lose the love of his life.Â

hii! i hope you are doing well. i love your overworked series so much. it's very relatable to me on what the circumstances the reader is in and all i do eat the series all up(munch munch) how about like a study date for them? that would be cute
Hello honey !! Thank you so much for this request, I was so excited to write it <3 Hope you enjoy!
STUDY OR DATE
â â â â â â â â ๨ৠâ â â â â â â â â
summary: you ask Leon to go on a study date with you at a coffee shop. Things donât go as planned, but work out just fine in the end.
cw: i think this qualifies as a drabble not a oneshot itâs short :( but sweet :) sorry some angst slipped in there, one of Leonâs ex friends says some kind of mean things about you but Leon comes to your defense, honestly thatâs it this is pretty fluffy
a/n: i just know leon absolutley slams those frou frou coffee drinks. i say this as a frou frou coffee drink enjoyer
no the Baby I'm Yours reference was not intentional
masterlist | previous (not actually a SERIES series, just takes place in the same universe)
°ââ.ŕłŕż*:シ
It was you who proposed the idea of a study date.
"I think it might be nice," You'd said, staring at your shoes and shuffling in place as people file out of the last class of your day- the one you share with Leon. "I usually study by myself, but I think it would be good to... get out of my room, for a bit. Um. And then we could study together?"
"Are you asking me or telling me?"
This is one of his current favorite sentences. "Training you to stand your ground, princess. Nothing bad is gonna happen when you do."
You squeeze the strap of your backpack. "Telling...? But also asking, because I don't know if you're free."
"Even if I did have plans I would cancel them. Where were thinking of going?"
A burst of heat rises to your face. "That cafe? Near the east side of campus?"
He leans down, giving you a quick peck on the nose. "I think that's a great idea."
The walk to the cozy cafe isn't too long, but it is cold. You shamelessly use the winter chill as an excuse to cuddle up to Leon.
"As if you need one," He mumbles, squeezing you close to him.
When you arrive to the shop, the bell dinging signifying your entrance, Leon tugs at the backpack on your shoulder.
"Gimme that. I'll snag us a table that has outlets. Order something for me?"
You donât have to look to know the hand in front of you has his credit card in it. And you know better than to refuse. He likes spending money on you, for whatever reason. Youâre not complaining, really, it just eats at you a little bit. Just a little.
But itâs also really, really, really sweet. The kindness tends to override the guilt, in his case.
For yourself, you order exactly what you want- Leon has a second sense for when you order something that's for the sake of preserving money rather than what you actually want. You'd asked him once where his seemingly never-ending supply of money came from, but he'd just kissed you on the forehead and told you not to worry about it. You kind of still worry about it, but never enough for him to notice.
For Leon, you order exactly what he wants but will never admit to liking- an iced caramel macchiato. The way coffee shops like Starbucks make them, not the traditional way. More milk and sugar than coffee. It's funny watching him slug his way through black coffee with a splash of milk when you know for a fact the milky, sugary coffee drinks never last longer than about five minutes when they're in front of him.
The cafe isn't that crowded, so it doesn't take long for your drinks to be ready. You take them from the bar with a thanks, then slide into the table Leon snagged for you.
His eyes catch on the drink.
"What is that?"
"An iced caramel macchiato."
"And why, exactly, did you order that for me?"
"Because you like them."
"No I-"
"Don't even pretend."
He takes the drink with a grumble, but reaches across the table and squeezes your hand once, a quiet thank you.
You take a sip of your own drink, then take your supplies out of your backpack and get to work.
You work fairly quietly, Leon occasionally sliding random snacks he, apparently, just keeps with him across the table to you. At one point, he gets up and returns with a plate that has a few of the pastries you were eyeing earlier on it. How he even knew exactly which ones you wanted is a mystery to you.
An hour or so after he gets the pastries, the bell dings, signifying someone's entrance.
"No way! Leon, is that you?"
Leon's face twists into something sour and angry, and a small stab of apprehension slices through your chest as the voice is accompanied by approaching feet.
"Josh," Leon says evenly, crossing his arms and leaning back in his chair. "Haven't seen you in awhile. On purpose."
You turn, eyeing the man that's standing behind you, a few other guys standing a little ways behind him, all leering for a glance.
The Josh in question just laughs. "Oh, whatever Leon," His gaze catches on your face and his eyes widen.
"No way. Are you seriously here with the pretentious--"
"You mean my girlfriend?" Leon leans forward in his seat, his jaw set and his fists clenched where they rest on the table. "Be very careful about your next words."
Girlfriend?
Josh blinks. "I meant nothing by it, man. I'm just surprised to see you here with her, is all."
Leon looks absolutely murderous. "And why would that be?"
"Just because, you know. We always talked about how annoying her attitude was. And that rivalry thing you guys had."
"I remember ditching you guys when you started ragging on her, yeah. Fuck off, Josh."
Josh raises his hands. "Jeez, okay man. I was just surprised. You're seriously choosing that girl over us?"
"This woman, yes. We were never friends like that. Forgive me if I prefer being with someone who doesn't make me consider the legality of finishing a college degree in prison."
Josh seems upset by Leon's statement, but Leon holds his ground. He jerks his head towards the rest of the gaggle. "Go."
Josh scampers away, metaphorical tail between his legs.
Leon immediately turns to you, brows furrowed in concern and body un-tensing. "Are you okay? Did he upset you? Do I need to kill him?"
You blurt out the first and only thing you got from that entire exchange.
"I'm your girlfriend?"
He re-tenses.
"Do you... not want to be?"
"No!" You shout, a little too loudly, because Josh and his friends look back over, but the ensuing glare from you and Leon is enough for them to look away so quickly you think you hear Joshâs neck pop.
"No," you say quietly, "I um. I'd really like to be your girlfriend. I just. I didn't know what we were."
He gets that fond look in his eyes again. The one he gets before he says something sappy.
"Baby," He says, reaching across the table and grabbing your hand. "I"m yours. I mean that. I didn't formally ask you out because I figured you wanted to take things slow."
"I did. At first."
He smiles. "Then princess, my princess, may I please be your boyfriend?"
You can't help the giddy giggle the escapes your mouth. "Yes."
"Oh thank god," He says, wiping fake sweat off his brow. "It would've been awkward to have a heart attack and die in this cafe."
"That seems a bit extreme."
"Not really. Have you seen my girlfriend? Cardiac events are a normal reaction, I assure you."
You don't get much studying done for the rest of the day.
--
After that, there is a noticeable increase in study dates and date-dates. Leon is weirdly good at picking date spots and ideas.
The first time he introduces you as his girlfriend at a party, Ada shouts so loudly you think she might burst someone's eardrum. Your roommates all squeal with excitement when you tell them.
Chris, being Chris, says "Weren't you already dating?" when Leon tells him the news. That seems to be the general consensus.
You're on another study date right now, Leon's face doing that cute little scrunch thing when he's thinking about a math problem, and you set your pencil down just to stare at him.
He's your boyfriend.
You're his girlfriend.
He looks up at you, chewing on the end of his pencil. "What? Do I have something on my face?"
"No," You say, a little breathless. "M' just looking at my boyfriend."
He grins, leaning across the table to give you a kiss, soft and slow.
You're normally not one for PDA.
But maybe you'll allow it. For your boyfriend.

Roomies S.G.
⧠s.m - the everyday life of you and roommate satoru gojo
w.c - 1.1k
warnings. fem reader, use of "y/n" general fluff, mild nudity, flirtatious relationship, sarcasm, etc. brief mentions of aot with possible spoilers
an. first post in the jjk roomie series, really hope you guys enjoy.
Roommate Gojo who moved in with you four years ago and hasnât stopped bothering ever you since.
Roommate Gojo who has absolutely no sense of personal space. If youâre anywhere within a five-foot radius, heâs right on top of you.
âGojo please, if you wouldnât mind, Iâd really appreciated it if you backed offâ
âNo can do prettyâ
âFor the love of God.â
Roommate Gojo who is a bit of aâŚfree spirit. He thinks his body is a masterpiece and should therefore, be shared with the world. He walks around with no shirt, pees with the door open, sleeps naked, certainly not with the door closed, leaves the bathroom in nothing but a towel and so much more.
Roommate Gojo who eats enough to feed a small army. You do the cooking; he does the eating. Meal preps that were supposed to last two weeks, donât make it three days. Cakes and cookies youâve baked for parties disappear overnight.
âGojo, what happened to the four dozen cookies I made last nightâ
âOh um, I ate themâ
âALL OF THEM?â
âYeahâ
âYou didnât see the note?â
âWhat note?â
âThe one that said, âdo not eat, naked for partyââ
âOh, thatâs what that little was, I accidently ate itâ
âYou ate it?â
âIt was in the way of my cookiesâŚâ
âWhat is wrong with you.â
Roommate Gojo who never sleeps and makes sure you don't either.
âGojo please, its so loud, turn it offfffâ
Silence.
âGojo? Helllooooâ
Of course, he was wearing those god forsaken headphones.
âGOJO TURN IT OFFâ
âHey wtf, what are you doing up? Its 3am, donât you have work in the morning?â
âWell, I would be sleep, If your game wasnât blaring through the walls keeping me awake all nightâ
âOh, I didnât know you could hear it, it doesnât seem that loud to meâ
âWELL, IT ISâ
âOkay, Iâll turn it down, geezâ
âAnd while youâre at it, go to bed, youâve been awake for three days nowâ
âI canât sleepâ
Roommate Gojo who sometimesâŚcrosses the line. Not in the way you might think. Heâs never really done anything inappropriate to you, so you can't complain about that. But heâs just friendlier than a roommate probably should be.
âCmon, its not a big dealâ
âGojo, youâre my friend, but even then, cuddling you to sleep? Doesnât there seem like there should be a line somewhere?â
âYou did it last week?â
âBy accident! We fell asleep on the couch; itâs not that deepâ
âY/n please. Thatâs the best sleep Iâve had in literal YEARSâ
âGojo-â
âPLEASEEEEâ
âOkay FINE, but weâre going to bed when I say soâ
âThank you, thank you, thank youâ
Roommate Gojo who is a relationship saboteur. He swears every guy you meet isnât good enough for you, or up to his ridiculous standards. He pesters and breaks you down, until you agree to let him meet the guy, and from that point forward, itâs a downhill battle.
âGojo, what is wrong with youâ
âWhat? If anything, you should be thanking meâ
âTHANKING YOU? Thatâs the third date youâve RUINED this month aloneâ
âThat guy was a piece of crap; he didnât even compliment you when he walked in the doorâ
âMaybe because from the second he stepped foot on the porch you were barreling down his throat, you didnât even give him a chance to speak!â âWell, if it was me, I wouldnât have let a single thing stop me from complimenting my womenâ
âWell, itâs not youâ
âBut it could beâ
âGojo get out of my faceâ
Roommate Gojo whoâs all bark and no bite. He swears up and down that he was women practically falling at his feet, yet youâve never seen him go on a single date.
Roommate Gojo who now that youâve think about it, hasnât even talked to a single woman since heâs moved in.
âGojo?â
âWhatâs up prettyâ
âAre you gay?â
âIdkâ
âSo thatâs not a no?â
âWell, itâs not a yes eitherâ
âSo, the windows open?â
âProbably notâ
âBut you said âidkââ
âBecause I canât be sureâ
âWhy notâ
âBecause Iâve never been with, dated or even kissed a guy beforeâ
âWell, I seriously doubt youâve âbeenâ with any women either, so how can you even be sure that you like them?â
âBecause I like youâ
âAnd now weâre done.â
âGoodnight prettyâ
âGoodnight Gojoâ
Roommate Gojo whoâs defiantly not gay because he just confessed his feelings for you.
âWhatâ
âI said I really like youâ
âI really like you too Gojo? You say that all the time though, why are you being so serious about it nowâ
âNo. I LIKE you, like Mikasa likes Eren. Btw are you all caught up on that or??â
âYeah, and by gods I hope that kind of love never finds meâ
âWhat? They were so great togetherâ
âI mean yeah ideally but literally? No way. They spent their entire lives pinning for each-other, and dancing around the subject, so much so that she literally was forced to mourn him for the rest of her life AFTER having to chop is freaking head offâ
âI mean yeah, but like, they still loved each other thoughâ
âObviously, but when you really think about it-â
âOkay, weâre getting off topic, I said, I REALLY like youâ
âWell, I mean, I like you too but what am I supposed to do with this information?â
âDate meâ
âAre you gonna ask?â
âWill you let me be your boyfriend?â
âMmm weâll seeâ
âOH CMON.â

21 QUESTIONS | Day 17
PAIRING bass player Hwa x interviewer reader
WORD COUNT | 1.7k
GENRE Smut
WARNING 18+ MINORS DO NOT INTERACT âźď¸
SUMMARY you went in praying for a smooth interview, but by the end of it Seonghwa seemed a lot more interested in interviewing you
MORE | Day 17 of the Groupie Love Series
Interviews with the press, the one thing that their group absolutely dreaded more than anything else. The reporters were always far too deep in your business and always asked questions that never seemed to draw a line between personal and professionalism. So Seonghwa had been quite surprised to see you walk in far more sophisticated and elegant than the past reporters theyâd talk to. He honestly found it amusing that you were taking it this serious, after all to him all you reporters were to him were grown adults with gossiping issues.
The moment you took a seat his eyes shifted to you from the couch he sat across from you. Taking in your frame from head to toe, he didnât know if it was the fact that you showed no interest in him personally or the fact that you dressed the complete opposite of the man that sat before you and the rest of the band, but there was something about you he looked. You looked like a forbidden fruit desperate to meet someoneâs lips, his of course.
âYou donât look like the type to be into rock bands.â
âAnd exactly what is that supposed to mean?â He leans in resting his arms on his thighs, seemingly observing you through lidded eyes.
âJust that you simply donât look like the type thatâd be into our music, in all honesty you donât even look like the gossiping type.â His eyebrows quirk up with intrigue as you scoff and roll your eyes at him, giving him a subtle attitude.
âWe just met each other today and you think youâve read me like some book?â
âJust simply making an observation, though if youâd like me to read you I wouldnât mind that.â Seonghwa chuckles as you roll your eyes at him once more, your conversation getting cut short as the rest of the band joins the two of you forcing you to stay the interview rather than completely give it to him for his narcissistic observations.
By the end of the interview all of them had cleared out of the room except for Seonghwa of course, having been too hung up on wanting to fix the earlier conversation heâd had with you.
âYou know my offer still stands.â
âAnd what is that offer exactly?â He simply grins as you respond to him with your back still facing him, your focus seemingly on your questions and notes you had jotted down during the interview.
âTo read you.â
âIf youâre so sure youâve got me all the way figured out then read me, because I can assure you you know nothing about me I can say far more about you or your little band than you could ever get right about me.â
âIs that right?â
âYou all have made it this far simply because of your sex appeal, the music was good at ghost but now all of you rely on the sex, drugs and afterparties. Youâre no longer legends because of the music but because of the good time you provide.â He slowly creeps in closer, caging you in between arms, his breath not on your neck.
âContinue, since you know so much.â It was obvious by the tone of voice that he was now annoyed with you, though what was worse for him was that he didnât know if he was annoyed because you had struck a nerve or because you simply hit the nail on the head. You on the other hand felt a heat consuming your body as he locked you in place against the table before you, his body a little too close for comfort, yet you couldnât get yourself to push him away.
âAnd you specifically, youâve been drowning yourself in alcohol, women, men. Ever sinceâŚâ you trailed off yet he knew all too well what you had been preventing yourself from saying. His hands squeezed your waist, nails piercing your skin as his grip tightened.
âYou know what maybe I was wrong, all you reporters are the same, you talk too damn much.â He presses you against the table, bending you over and shoving your face and chest against the table.
âI think itâs about time someone shut one of you up.â
His fingers traced the arch of your back until they were wrapped around your neck.
âAlways speaking on shit none of you know anything about.â You opened your mouth to speak but your ass being met by a harsh slap made a loud cry spill from them instead.
âWait-â
âWait what? Not done talking? After all that running your mouth you still have more talking to do?â He lands another harsh smack, then another.
âSpeak then, since thatâs your job. To run that pretty fucking mouth until ups tired of talking. Speak.â He was doing this on purpose, every one of his harsh spanks syncing perfectly with every time youâve tried to open up your mouth and speak.
âSo annoying, all of you. If you want to put your mouth to good use Iâll give you the perfect way to use it. You try to cover your mouth and ill call everyone back in here just to watch me fuck you, understand?â To his dissatisfaction you nod your head in response making him force your head back by your hair.
âSpeak.â
âI understand..â Though your voice was faint and far more soft spoken compared to before when you were reading him for filth, he didnât mind in fact he liked it that way.
his hands were now roaming your body while his mouth latched onto your neck. his fingers tracing every outline of your shoulders, back, arms, waist, and up to tangle into your beautiful hair. you breathed quietly; the pace of your breath picking up with heaves as his fingers traced your skin.
the warm, wet, heat in between your legs starts to pulse against your better judgement. Everything about this was wrong and made you feel desperate, yet you couldnât pull yourself away. You could hear the rustling behind you as he tugs at the waist of his pants. With one hand wrapped around your hair and the other on his belt he managed to free his cock from his pants. Despite yourself being covered you melted at the way it pressed against your clothed bottom.
his hands slip around your waist to find the bottom of your white button up, unbuttoning every one of them with ease as if it had been something heâd done time and time again. His hangs then slip to your waist, untying the ribbon that has kept your pants tight and snug on your waist, wasting no time shoving your pants and panties down to your knees.
âAll that talk about me and the women or men Iâve slept around with when you get this wet from me spanking you and bending you over.â He presses his tip against your core, sliding it around the wetness that was left from the mess in your panties.
âAn absolute whore.â
Seonghwa impales himself into you without warning. your hands quickly grasp at the table beneath you, nails digging and scraping against the hard oakwood. your body betrays you , giving into his satisfaction you let out a lewd moan. The sudden intrusion makes you cry out at the way he stretched you out.
Grabbing your wrists he forces both your hands behind your back, bonding them together in his own hands.
his hips pull back to snap back into you causing your body to jolt. He groans at the feeling of your warm cunt wrapped around him. you squeeze him just right, far better than any of the othe groupies or needy pick meâs heâd had previously. You hugged him just right, squeezed him tight enough to make him cum on the spot. He rolls his hips around, pushing his cock as far as he can into you until heâs completely bottomed out. His eyes rolling back each time he feels his tip kissing your cervix. The whimpers and pornographic moans spilling from your lips making his hunger for you more primal.
âyouâre so tight fuck,â he groans, his thrusts picking up. loud smacks of skin and the evident sounds of pleasure that spilled from your lips filling the room.
You let out small gasps of his name between each of your desperate cries of pleasure.
He yanks your head back staring down at your contorted face while his cock bullies into you with no resolve. your sobs and moans ring through his ears in a haunting melody that he knew heâd be thinking about again later on tonight. For a moment he heard you fall silent and a loud smack rang through the room as he smacked your ass.
âWhat did I tell you sweetheart?â in your silence, he makes a particular rough movement, shoving himself deeper than he had previously gone, enough to bruise your cervix and leave behind evidence that he had fucked you to the point of no return. you instantly let out a high pitched moan, mouth falling open and putting a smile on his face.
âGood girl.â his cock is pistoning in and out of your pussy over and over. his thrusts growing more erratic and desperate.
âFuck iâm so close. What exactly should I do huh? Should I fill you with my cum, sweetheart. fuck a baby into you.â you moan out, your nails digging into the desk and clawing at it hard enough to leave scratch marks.
âYouâd like that hm? Wouldnât you princess after all the only reason you got this job was so you could be close to people like me hm? Work your way to the top.â He chuckles and yanks your head back.
âFuck,â he moans, his thrusts are getting sloppy, simply chasing the feeling of being in climax.
â fuck, youâre going to have to take thisâ he moans loudly, his body pressing against your own. You almost instantaneously feel the warm, sticky liquid fill you up. The fullness of it all makes you hum in satisfaction, even if you knew there was a 50/50 chance youâd be regretting it all later.
The room falls silent other than the sound of both of your heavy breathing and him rustling to fix his clothes.
âAdd yourself to the list of people Iâve fucked since youâre so caught up on my count.â
His fingers gently trace over your waist as you fix your clothes and tie your ribbon back around your waist.

7 Days the mini-series
About this series: âď¸
Day 05: Sunshower
I was used to just him and me, always together. However, as we grew older, our own worlds expanded, and more people came.
I didn't think about it until one day.
That day, I headed to Caleb's school after class. We went to school and returned home together day by day. There was going to be a volleyball tournament between high schools in the district, so he often had to stay after class to practice. I chose a good spot in the grandstand, and finding him among the players on the field was not a problem to me at all.
Whether it was studying or playing sports, I loved seeing him putting all his mind into it. Occasionally, he would glance towards the stands, then smile when he saw me there. When he scored, I wouldnât hesitate to stand up and scream: âYAYYY!!! CALEB YOU'RE SO COOL!!!â And every time, his teammates would constantly make fun of him till his ears turned crimson. While in the stands, the girls in the upper grades would glance and me and whispered:
âWho is that girl?â
âI donât know. She must be crazy about CalebâŚâ
âWho wouldnât like him? Caleb is so handsome, and kind!â
âOMG!!! Heâs staring at us!!!â
A few seats ahead of me, the females began to conceal their faces and laugh among themselves. I had no idea why my stomach felt uneasy. I sat down and remained silent throughout the practice that day.
Of course, Caleb didn't understand what upset me so much. Even I could not know what it was. I was too young to start dating, yet old enough to acknowledge the most beautiful emotions of my youth were blossoming. Every afternoon, I waited for Caleb at the sports court before we came home together. And every afternoon, I caught him surrounded by so many other girls.
There was no doubt how popular he was at school. I should be happy for him, since he was everyone's favorite. Yet why could I not get rid of this uncomfortable feeling in my heart? Was it because I was used to being the only one by his side? Was it because I disliked the idea of sharing him with anyone else?
That day, after his practice, I saw Caleb talking to a classmate. She was proposing that they take a stroll home together, it seemed. My fists clenched, head bowed, I walked away. There was a tint of soreness on my nose.
After a while, I heard Caleb calling my name. My feet didn't stop, they wanted to go even faster. He caught up with me and took hold of my wrist.
"Pip-squeak? You didn't wait for me today?"
His naĂŻve expression infuriated me even more. I pulled my hand away from him and replied:
"Go home with her."
Every step I made now vented the path that had done nothing wrong. Caleb casually strolled beside me and said:
"Who? Is there anyone else other than the two of us?"
He took notice of my silence, then pulled my hand to stop me. âCome on. Tell me, what have I done wrong?â
The radiant smile on his lips forced me into the situation where I failed to keep my poker face. I pouted and gave him an unkind cheek squeeze, saying:
âStop smiling.â
âOn't ou ike it en I ile?" (Don't you like it when I smile?)
Caleb said as I rubbed his cheeks to let out my sulking though he did not do anything wrong. That very moment, it began to rain, even though the golden sun was still shining brightly.
âOh, a sunshower?âŚâ
âThis is also known as fox rain. Legend has it that when itâs both sunny and raining, itâs the time for the fox to welcome his bride. But our Gran said that this type of weather indicates a quarrel between the Sun God and the Rain God.â Caleb explained and turned to face me. âIt seems that you are mad at me too, pip-squeak. I'm not sure what I did wrong, but... could you kindly forgive me??â
I didnât answer right away, yet the smile on my lips gave him the answer. I held his hand in mine and we continued walking on the long path.
âCaleb⌠Will you⌠date someone else in the future?â
âHuh? Dating? Why are you curious about it?â
âWell⌠I was just thinking⌠When I grow up a little more and youâre not with anyone, I⌠I will be your date... Is that alright?â
Our hand squeezed, he grinned, as bright as the sun and the rainbow in the rain in front of our path home.

Ok there seems to be some people still unconvinced with having a reverse crush with Sonic and Amy so Im going to give my input about it, in my opinion it's even logical at this point:
The Sonic from the videogames and the Sonic from the live action movies are obviously different, Videogame Sonic is often portrayed as someone very confident, someone who is already a hero, too cool for school, someone so free that even though he has a lot of friends he seems to like and treasure his time alone, also it's been confirmed that SEGA doesn't like Sonic having strong emotions, also he has already knowledge of his homeworld and was never surprised to see other people of his kind and the first portrayals of Amy were too pushy, stalky and obsessed with him, he was annoyed by her and it was doom to be a one sided crush until the recent changes in her behavior that as simple as she is still openly in love with him but she isn't forcing it on him and as a result he is more comfortable with her and he doesn't reject her as much as before or at all so we don't have a relationship confirmed but we got a ambiguous relationship like: "yes there is something cooking but you only get to smell the food, you'll never eat it"
Then we have the Sonic of the movies, this Sonic barely knows nothing about his homeworld aside the parts his caretaker who was an owl and not his biological mom allowed him to be and is also aware of the echidnas because he was attacked by them before coming to earth. Then on earth he was heartbreakingly lonely for years and that made him be socially awkward and clumsy even though he is an extrovert even pretending he was familiar with Tom and Maddie before he actually became their "son" , this Sonic had to learn to fight on the way through the movies while dangerous things just suddenly kept happening to him, he wasn't a match for knuckles at the beginning because knuckles was already an expert fighter and Sonic wasn't, he wasn't immediately accepting with Tails because he was not confident enough to trust someone he just met even though Tails was helping him and he almost killed Shadow on a fit of vengeful rage, this is not how videogame Sonic behaves, he isn't this much awkward and emotional teenager, movie Sonic is more energetic than Sonic Boom's Sonic and just as chatty as Sonic prime's Sonic and almost nothing like SonicX's Sonic (I don't know the other series he has), also Shadow is literally the first other Hedgehog he ever saw in his life. Also movie Amy is already a badass fighter, that comes from his homeworld, she probably already saw other hedgehogs, also I'm sure she has also the Tarot cards skills she has in the games (and that's why she is there), THIS is the Amy that presents herself to Sonic: a badass female hedgehog that saved him under the moonlight, the second Hedgehog he meets but specifically the FIRST FEMALE hedgehog he ever sees! So given the clumsy wannabe cool dork teenager personality he has, being the first time he sees a female of his species, saving him with such a badass move, an encounter alone in the night... Do you really think is realistic to expect him to be cool and collected about it? This is a huge deal đđ, there's no way logically speaking this Sonic isn't going to be nervous and awkward, is impossible to think he is not going to be into Amy đ¤Łđ¤Ł after that.
But I don't think this is a "reverse crush" I totally think that obviously Amy is going to have a crush on him too, just not as outrageously obvious and obsessive, I think is going to be: "he acts clumsy, she thinks he is cute" and then she'll fall harder once she sees his heroic side, something like: "he fell first, she fell harder" what do you think?
Also, I just noticed that Shadow is kinda in the same situation as Sonic... I mean this time he isn't a creation but a finding inside a meteorite... He has never seen a girl hedgehog either right? Anyway giving his personality I doubt he would be a clumsy dork with her like Sonic would be... I mean it's Shadow đ¤ˇđ¤ˇ but maybe she is a bit into him and Sonic gets jealous... Who knows đ a bit of Shadamy doesn't hurt.
But again, don't expect anything canon canon, it's probably going to be as I said before: "something is cooking but we only get to smell the food and never eat it"

hii just completely caught up to your translation of the sclass that i raised!!! so amazing so far i really really love it. by chance, do you happen to have a timeline of when you will finish the series? according to my very terrible math skills itâs gonna be about 5 years? looks like iâm in it for the long haul i thank you for your service đŤĄ
Ah⌠yes, it is going to be a while⌠I'm not comfortable posting much more than I already am without a much bigger buffer, but I really do want to increase the posting rate because keeping everyone here for another 6-ish years just for the main story (that's not even getting into side stories/epilogues!) seems a bit much to me. So the answer is, we will finish in 6+ years as things are now, but hopefully we can change that.

Our secret moments in a crowded room They got no idea about me and you Dress â Taylor SwiftÂ
BusanÂ
You don't know when it started, but suddenly Jimin's favorite hobby was flirting with you without anyone seeing. More and more he said things that drove you crazy. And you never knew if he was telling the truth or just teasing you.
You walked down the school hallway during your break, looking for Jimin who was in a different room in this class.
You hear a voice calling you and look back. A girl you've only seen a few times at school approaches you with red cheeks. You can't remember her name.
âHey...â she says with a little smile.â You're Jimin's friend, right?â
Oh, you knew what this was. She was interested in him. Here we go again.
It was a question she knew the answer to, after all, everyone at school knew that you two were friends.
âUh, yes, I am.â
âSo... can you please give him this note?â She hands you a small piece of paper. âIt has my name and number written on it.â
âOkayâŚâ you agree a little reluctantly, but she didn't even notice because she was too focused looking behind you.
You really didn't understand that. If she wanted to talk to him so badly, why didn't she just give him the note herself? It would give off more of an air of trust than sending others to do her job. You were too tired of that.
When you turn around, you find Jimin across the hall laughing with some friends. Seriously, she's so silly about this.
You take a deep breath and give her a toothless smile. When you turn back to find Jimin, he's already looking at you, smiling. You walk towards him and Jimin separates from his friends and heads further to the right side of the hallway to meet you.
She watches as you go talk to Jimin.
âHeyâ you say smiling as you stop in front of him.
âHi.â Jimin smiles seductively and you know that smile is what makes girls fall in love.
But you won't fall.
âSoâŚâ his gaze goes to your hand holding the note.
âYou already know what it is." You roll your eyes and he laughs.
âGive it to me.â He stretches out his hand and you hand him the note. Jimin opens it and takes a look, without taking the shit-eating smile off his face.
Jimin leans close to your ear to speak while looking at the girl.
âI only have eyes for you, you know that. â Jimin chuckles and you are left speechless.
What?!
He gave the girl a wink, but you couldn't see it.
Jimin puts the paper in his pocket and walks away laughing. You blink a few times and then compose yourself. The girl was almost jumping up and down where you left her waiting.
Within seconds you had to process what happened and come up with an excuse for her, because she was already coming towards you.
âSo? What did he say?â she asked excitedly, clasping her hands together.
âItâs...He said he'll send a message.â
You felt bad, but what could you do?
âOh my god, thank you so muchâ she hugs you happily and you don't have time to hug her back before she leaves to meet her friends.
The girl, whose name you didn't even care about, leaves happily to meet her friends and tell them what happened. But you remain almost paralyzed in place, still thinking about Jimin's words.
Seriously, who can handle that? There's no way he could have shaken your foundations with just those words. Even though you reminded yourself every day that you wouldn't fall for his charms. Here you are now, blushing like a 15-year-old (which wasn't that long ago). But that doesn't matter.
When the break is over, you're still thinking about the same thing. And when you walk back into the classroom and see Jimin acting like nothing happened, you almost think you've imagined things.
You can't believe the nerve he has. How could he say that to you and then act like nothing happened?
You sit at a table in front of him, but you don't give him any importance. You take your things out of your bag and start organizing them on the table so you have something to occupy yourself with.
Soon the grammar teacher enters the room, arranging his own desk before starting the class.
You sigh deeply. The last thing you wanted was to have grammar class. But finals are approaching and you can't afford to miss them.
While you're distracted looking through your notebook for the last notes from your grammar class, Jimin leans over his desk behind you. His chin stops just above your shoulder, making you jump in your seat and he pulls away.
âEasy, baby.â Jimin says softly just for you to hear.
You close your eyes tightly, anger taking over your body.
It's obvious he would make fun of you. And the fact that you reacted exactly the way he wanted makes you even angrier. You wish you had more self-control.
âDon't call me that.â you say through your teeth quietly, only for him to hear too.
Everyone is still talking in the classroom, so almost no one pays attention to your little interaction with Jimin.
âWhy not?â he pauses dramatically. âBaby?"
You turn around so you can look him in the eye and find Jimin looking a little seductive for a thursday morning grammar class.
Jimin subtly runs his tongue across his mouth and your eyes betray you when they fly straight to his mouth. You hate yourself for this once again. Once again you fell into his game. And Jimin is already smiling when he realizes that for a second you looked at his lips.
âYou piece of shâŚâ
âWell, everyone, let's start today's class. Please be quiet.â
You let out a snort and turn around, not before seeing Jimin staring at your mouth and then quickly at your eyes.
He is unbelievable!
The rest of the class passed by in a torturous manner. You could barely pay attention to the new concepts the teacher was talking about because you were too aware of Jimin's presence behind you.
âOr Jimin really likes you or he's gay.â Yuna says with the calmest face you've ever seen, as if she hadn't just made you almost choke on her words.
âWhat did you say?â
You have to stop your snack to question her. You heard very well what she said, but you can't believe it.
âThat's right, you heard it. Don't pretend you don't see it either.â She raises an eyebrow, showing that she's not joking about the subject.
You shift uncomfortably on the grass of the schoolyard where you are sitting during break.
âI don't think he's gayâŚâ your mind flies to all the moments you had together and a shiver runs down your legs.
âSo he likes you.â she doesn't hesitate to say.
Yuna speaks as if she were saying that the weather is sunny today.
âI don't think that's it either. â your heart was beating fast in your chest.
âReally? So how do you explain the way he looks at you and the care he only has for you?â
Yuna crosses her arms in front of her body.
âIt's just... normal. We're like brothers, we've known each other since childhood.â you start to sweat nervously at your friend's question.
You know she doesn't mean any harm. But you weren't prepared to hear today that Jimin seems to have feelings for you.
Exactly this week. After all the wills you had to go through.
Today really wasn't your day.
âMy brother doesn't treat me like that. He's always hitting me and calling me a pig for leaving my towel in the bathroom.â She laughs and you force one too.
âIt's just the way he is.â
And you're not lying when you say that. Jimin has a gentle way of being that no one you know has. He's just him.
And you're sure he doesn't treat you in any special way. Jimin is kind to everyone and that's easily noticeable. There's no reason to second-guess yourself because of it.
âOh stop, tell me you don't have a little crush on himâ she pushes your shoulder and waggles her eyebrows.
You stay silent for a few seconds, but she doesn't give you time to question yourself.
âCome on!â she almost whines, while continuing to push you with her shoulder.
âThink about his thick lips and... Oh! His hot ass, jesus!â
âStop it!â
You two are laughing so hard.
âI don't know. Maybe?â you laugh shyly and she widens her eyes.
As soon as the words leave your mouth you regret them.
This was sure to spark gossip. And you really didn't want people to start bothering you about it. Not after you and Jimin had spent so long denying that you liked each other.
âSee? I knew there was something there. Hoseok owes me 10 dollars for this.â she celebrates without even paying attention to your terrified face.
Wait. Hoseok?
âHoseok owes you? What the hell is this?â your face contorts in confusion.
âOh, honey, we all bet you two have a crush on each other. I just didn't think it would be that easy to get it out of you. â She laughs and you get a little irritated.
âYou mean you don't care about my feelings?â your tone changes and her playful expression falls.
This is so out of line. You didn't expect your friends to make bets involving the two of you like this.
âY/n, it's not that. Please don't think about it this way. We all want you to be together, trust me.â she holds your hand and has a genuine expression on her face.
You feel like she's starting to get a little desperate in the way she talks.
âYou're already assuming he has some kind of interest in me.â
You play dumb to her, even though you know that Jimin is interested in you. But you think that maybe it's not like that. You think that what you two do is just a fun pastime and that it doesn't mean anything deeper than that.
And you know that for you, things are becoming problematic. But maybe for Jimin, it's just fun to have a girl available for him to kiss. And being you, someone he knows, makes everything easier.
And deep down, really deep down, you'd like to hear from an outsider that Jimin seems to like you. Somehow it comforts your heart and your ego, even if you have to ask him directly to be sure. But obviously you're not going to do that.
âOh, come on. Everyone can see that he has a huge crush on you.â
Your face heats up once more at her words.
âI don't think so.â
âSeriously? Everyone has already noticed you two being clingy with each other. Oh chimchim this, mimi thatâ she does a terrible imitation of your voice and you push her aside.
âStop it. I'm not like that.â you start laughing, because it's ridiculous.
And it's true.
âOf course it is. Ugh, I can't stand you two, seriously. I wish I had someone like that for myself.â
She rolls her eyes and you both start laughing.
It had been a while since you had shared something so intimate with someone other than Jimin.
Sometimes it was nice to have a girl talk.
âBut seriously, is there nothing going on between you two?â she nibbles on the cookies you are eating.
You stop and think.
It had really been a long time since you had any girl talk. What harm would it do to have some of that now?
You needed that escape.
âOkay, if I tell you, will you promise me two things? â you say, uncertain, but already implying that you have a secret.
She widens her eyes and finishes chewing the cookie.
âSure, I promise you even three." You laugh at her face. âSeriously, no bets now.â
You straighten up on the grass you're sitting on.
âFirst you have to promise not to tell anyone.â
âOf course.â
âSecond, please don't freak out too much about it. It's really no big deal.â
You know it's a big deal.
âOkayâŚâ she analyzes you, waiting for you to continue.
âSeriously, don't tell anyone.â
âJust say it alreadyâ
âSo... we've already, um, kissed â you fiddle with your fingers looking down, because you're dying of embarrassment.
Her jaw drops and she even drops the cookie she was holding.
âI knew it! I knew soo much! My God.â
You glared at her.
âAlright, alright, no freaking out.â
She tries to control herself.
âWhen did it happen? Like, how? Oh my god, there are so many questions.â
She looks like a crazy person looking at you.
âOkay, calm down. It's not a big deal, it's just kisses.â
âKisses? In plural?â
Shit.
You cover your face with your hands, blushing. You're starting to think you've said too much.
âYou're so dirty! I can't believe you gave kisses to Park Jimin! â she slaps you on the arm
âIt's no big deal, I swear.â
âOkay, but how did this happen? Tell me the details, for Godâs sake.â
She shakes you by the arm.
âI don't know. It just happened. I won't tell you too many detailsâŚâ
âUrgh, okay. But... when was the last time you guys kissed?â
You pause, wondering if you should tell her. She looks at you with a dramatic look, as if to say, âjust spill it.â
âY-yesterdayâ
Her jaw dropped for the tenth time today. You blushed again.
âYesterday?! That's insane.â
âKeep your voice down, everyone will hear you.â
You look around suspiciously.
âYou're so in love!â
âThat's not it!â
âOh, it is! My God, you guys are so stupid.â
You start to pack your things because the break is almost over. But really you just wanted an excuse to get out of this subject. You're starting to get nervous.
âI shouldn't have told you that.â
âHey!â
She takes you by the shoulders and makes you face her.
âIt's alright, okay?â she looks deep into his eyes, seeing the desperation.â It's okay to like someone, even if it's your best friend.â
You try to let go of her because your heart starts to tighten and you don't want to start crying in the middle of the courtyard.
âHe likes you too.â
She says in a last attempt to make you listen.
âThis won't lead to anything.â
âHave you told him how you feel?â
She's getting up too and you kind of turn your back, grabbing your backpack.
âThere's nothing to say.â
âY/nâŚâ
âEnough, okay? I don't want to talk about this anymore.â
She looks a little sad, but she understands your request.
âOkay. Just know that I will always support you.â
Your heart softens a little, despite the erratic beats it's making.
âThank you, really.â
âAnd I wonât tell Hoseok that I won the bet.â
You slap her arm and she starts laughing.
And you walk together to your next class, with time running out and arriving 5 minutes late.Â
After all the talk with Yuna, you suddenly became very aware of Jimin's presence and all his actions towards you.
And deep down you wish he liked you too.
Jimin is researching dance schools on the computer in his room. The research has been long and he hasn't been happy with some of the comments. Jimin watched some videos explaining how the selection process works for most schools, and some of the comments on the videos complained about the strict rules of these places.
A random comment said:
Kot878: These places are tough on training. And they don't even let you date!
That couldn't be true, right? About the training maybe, but they couldn't forbid them from dating, right?
Jimim got nervous. He knew he wasn't dating anyone, but he couldn't help but fantasize about it. What if you liked him too? Maybe you could date, right?
Jimin was paralyzed looking at that comment, when he heard the sound of footsteps and the door to his room was quickly opened.
âBooâ
Jimin gets scared by you and quickly closes the browser window.
"Shit! Knock before entering.â
âWhat are you doing? Watching porn?â you giggle and move closer to him.
Jimin was already nervous because you almost caught him looking at that information, after what you said he got even more nervous.
âO-of course not. Are you idiot?â
âThen why did you close the browser window?â
You raise an eyebrow at him and move closer to the computer.
âI was just looking at some dance schools.â
And suddenly you forgot that you were questioning him. Your face lit up with his words and you became excited.
âReally? And how is it going?â
You sit on his bed, waiting for him to answer.
âI havenât found any nearby yet.â
Jimin wasnât lying. But that random information he read in a comment left a huge doubt in his head. He would have to look better after you left.
âHm, but you can move to another city if you get inâ
But what about you? Would you stay apart?
âBut...â
âI could go with you.â
âWhat!? No.â Jimin says quickly. He didnât want to change cities.
âDonât you want me to come with you?â you pout looking at him.
âNo, itâs not that. I donât want to have to move to another city.â Jimin exhales. This whole situation of looking for dance schools has been stressing him out.
âWell, but maybe thatâs the only optionâ
Youâre probably right.
âIâll take a better look later.â
You nod, swinging your feet over the edge of his bed.
âSo, what are you doing here?â
You suddenly remember why you came here.
âI need you to teach me how to study.â
âBut your grades are good, right? Thereâs no need for me to teach you.â
âNo! I need to do even better this time. My parents will give me the album of the band I like if I do well.â
He gets up from his chair and walks over to you on the bed, coming closer and making you lean back on your arms.
âYou enter a boy's room very freely.â
You swallow. He looks so serious. You feel a little nervous at the sudden change in mood.
âIt's just you.â
âAnd?â
âI-I trust you.â
Jimin remains in the same position, too close to you and analyzing you. He thinks that you still don't see him as a man, even though you've kissed several times.
âWhat is that?â
You look so pretty like this, with a slightly flushed and confused face. Jimin can only think that he wants to kiss you everywhere. But he doesn't want to pressure you and you end up thinking that he's going too far. What if you stop talking to him? He wouldn't be able to stand that.
Then he rethinks and walks away from you.
âJust... Don't go into boys' rooms like that.â
Jimin sits next to you on the bed, not looking at your face. You get more nervous. What did he mean by that?
âUhh, okay?â
You actually thought he was going to kiss you again for a few seconds. And honestly, you really wanted him to.
You couldn't muster up enough courage to say that you came here not only because you wanted him to teach you how to study better, but because you wanted to be with him. And maybe... you could get some kisses from him.
âWhat subjects do you need help with?â
âWe can start with math.â
You're trying to memorize the stages of cell division in the library, but you can't figure out how to make it happen logically. You keep forgetting the order all the time and it's already stressing you out.
Pro meta ana tel... That's it! You got it-
âSo, have you guys done it yet?â Yuna whispers, sitting next to you.
You write down the logical sentence in your notebook and are happy with your idea. You barely paid attention to what Yuna said, focusing your attention on the logic you just created.
âYeah, we already did the workââ
âYou guys had sex!?â
âWhat? Oh my god, Yuna, I was talking about the history workâ
Your voice gets a little loud from the shock you got from Yuna's words. Some of your classmates give you two ugly looks. Your face is already hot and Yuna's eyes are wide open as she stares at you.
âMy God, I say. You almost gave me a heart attack.â
âStop thinking nonsense and study!â you look away from her and point to the notebooks, organizing your study sheets that donât need to be organized.
âIâm tired of studying. And your life is cooler than mine, so I want to know more.â
She rests her face in her hands and pouts. You really canât stand it.
âStop thinking about it.â
âI canât.â
âYouâre disgusting, you know that?â
âWhy? Itâs normal to do these things.â
Once again, the subject is turning to things you really donât want to talk about right now, and certainly not in the middle of the library. You feel like you two are going to be thrown out of the library any minute.
You take a deep breath and try to speak as quietly as possible, and in a way that Yuna will end the damn subject.
âWeâre not going to doâŚthat.â
âWhy not?â
She looks like a child like that.
âLet's focus on studying, hm?â
She snorts.
âGive me some love advice.â
âStop changing the subject.â
You grab a sheet of paper with notes and hand it to her.
âSeriously.â She takes the paper and looks at it without interest. âMaybe I like Hoseok.â
âHobi? Oh my God, I knew this was weird.â
Now itâs your turn to disconnect from your studies. She never told you that.
âAnd we kissed.â
What? What the hell?
Yuna says it like it's no big deal, still analyzing the sheet you handed her without interest. Now you're totally into the subject, you don't want to study anymore.
âWhat? Why didnât you tell me?â
âYou donât tell me anything about your life.â
âThatâs a lie. I told you things Iâve never told anyone.â
âHey, you two. Be quiet.â The librarian snaps at you and you flinch, nodding.
Yuna comes closer and tries to speak more quietly.
âWell, Iâll only tell you if you tell me whatâs going on between you two.â
Yuna shrugs, as if sheâs not blackmailing you for information. You canât believe her nerve. You have nothing interesting to say about this.
âThere really isnât anything going on between us.â
She looks at you with a âseriously?â face and you sigh for the infinite time.
âWe just like to kiss each other, thatâs it. Now tell me about Hobi.â
She gives up and then starts talking.
âSo, we kissed the other day and...â
âYou two. Iâm going to ask you to find another place to study.â
And you feel so embarrassed about being kicked out of the library that you end the subject there. You really needed to memorize the content for the test.
At the beginning of your 18th birthday, things start to get a little out of control.
âWe should stop doing this... â you say, but your voice isn't confident at all. Not when he's kissing your neck like that.
âThis what?â
And on top of that, Jimin plays dumb. He wants to see you admit what you're doing.
He continues to place delicate kisses along your neck and up to your ear. Your heart is already beating hard inside your chest with all the excitement he is causing you.
âThis!â
You grab him by the shoulders and pull him away. You were sitting on the bed, leaning against the headboard with your notebooks spread out on the mattress. His gaze, his full lips, everything is too tempting for you and your eyes waver. He knows you want to continue.
âWhy should we?â he asks, almost pouting.
His voice destroys you. You never imagined you would see him so full of lust. He does it on purpose because he knows how much it affects you.
âWe're not focusing on our studies.â and his eyes couldn't stop looking at his lips.
That wasn't exactly why you thought you should stop this, but it was still true.
It was your senior year of high school. You decided to come home with the excuse that you were going to study for the biology test that would be first thing in the morning tomorrow. And here you were, making out in your room instead of studying.
This whole situation was taking on proportions you hadn't imagined. You both didn't know exactly how it started, but before you knew it, you were already kissing. Neither of you wanted to think too much about it and how far it could go. You were afraid to think about the barriers you could cross if the emotion took over too much.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, you were always interrupted when things were getting too heated. And internally you thanked God, because the fear of making that decision was too much..
You two were almost always getting caught and it became a routine.
âI think we're studying biology very well.â he said in a naughty tone.
And there's that mischievous little smile of his that takes you apart. His hands are already on your waist without you realizing it, squeezing lightly and bringing you closer to him, inviting you to sit on his lap, but not doing so yet.
âOkay, 5 more minutes. But we need to focus, seriously!â
Jimin smiles triumphantly because he knows he won. He doesn't waste any more time, knowing that you really need to focus on your studies after this. He pushes his notebooks aside in a desperate way and it makes you laugh.
Jimin's thoughts are so clouded by lust that he can only think of one thing. So he leaves reason aside.
âSit on my lap.â
âWhat?â you get a little nervous with his request, not knowing how to act.
âComeâ
His hands push you around the waist and you follow the movement, sitting forward on his lap. His back is against the headboard while his hands caress your legs.
You try not to think too much about the position you're in. You're afraid you won't be able to control yourself when it comes to Jimin. He has a seductive way that only grows as the years go by.
Your lips meet again and your hands caress his soft hair. Everything about him is soft: his hair, his lips, his heart. And you are so addicted that you can't even think straight.
His tongue enters your mouth and you let out a soft sigh. Jimin chuckles as he kisses you, his hands moving from your legs to your hips and then grabbing your waist. He kisses you harder and pushes you down onto his lap. A surprised moan leaves your mouth because you can feel how turned on he is just from kissing you like this.
You're already aroused, too. In fact, you're pretty sure you're already soaking wet. Your parts are screaming for some friction, any movement that will ease that growing throb.
The caresses of his delicate fingers together with his increasingly skilled tongue in your mouth makes you lose self-control and start rubbing yourself on his lap.
You move just enough for that throbbing to stop bothering you. But his kiss is addictive and his hands caress you in such a light way that it makes you lose all the self-control you should have.
His hands holding your hips encourage you to continue rubbing yourself on his lap. Jimin sighs, also affected by the way you are grinding on top of him. He feels like he could explode with lust. Your flushed face, with your lips slightly parted, letting out sighs, is certainly the most erotic image he has ever seen in his life.
The way his hard erection rubs right against your most sensitive spot makes you close your eyes tightly. Slowly letting low moans escape your lips as you still kiss awkwardly.
âDo you like this?â
Jimin kisses your cheek, collarbone, behind your ear, your neck in several parts. He seems to be adoring you and at that moment it was all you needed the most.
âOh-yesâ
You grip his shoulders as you use more strength to shift on his lap. His legs bend to bring you closer, pressing you completely against him.
You can feel the pleasure growing in the pit of your stomach, but the insecurity of finishing in front of him starts to hit you harder. Your moans start to come out without your control and Jimin can sense it. He knows you're controlling yourself, by the way your eyes are closed and your eyebrows are furrowed.
He holds the back of your neck and kisses you. His other hand is on your hip pushing you down while his hips also work to pleasure you.
When you feel him pushing his hips against your core, you know you've already lost. Within seconds of this friction, you feel your orgasm building inside your belly. When you both push together once more, you feel the explosion of orgasm. Your moans can no longer be contained by his kisses. Your walls tighten around nothing and give you a feeling of satisfaction, but emptiness at the same time.
Your hands grip Jimin's shoulders tightly as you still rub yourself against his erection.
âAh, JiminâŚâ
Jimin is in heaven listening to you softly moan his name over and over again. He swears he could have cum just from that if it weren't for the underwear and sweatpants squeezing him so tightly.
When you calm down, it still takes a few seconds for you to open your eyes and finally look at him.
You can't believe you just had an orgasm in front of Jimin. Something so intimate and so personal that you just shared it with him, your best friend.
"Did you finish?â Jimin asks, caressing your cheek with his thumb.
You feel his other hand caressing your back, trying to relax you.
It takes you a long few seconds to gather the courage to say yes.
âI'm happyâ Jimin kisses your cheek.
You don't get it.
âWhy?â
âBecause I made you feel good, right?â
You stay silent, staring at him and thinking how he can be so amazing.
At the same time your mind remembers that he is also horny and that he is probably dying because of it right now. You need to do something for him too. You want to do something for him.
âAnd you? How can I make you feel good?â your face automatically heats up.
âYou don't have to do thatâ he gives a little smile. âAnd we still need to finish studyingâ he looks around, at the mess that is the bedspread and at the study papers that fell on the floor.
âBut I want toâ
And you really do. But Jimin is hesitant and you can feel it. You just can't quite put your finger on why.
You don't realize it, but what Jimin has is insecurity. He's afraid of forcing you or that you're forcing yourself to do it for him. Maybe you can't even imagine him that way.
Just the idea that you might be forcing him to do this makes him lose his excitement.
When Jimin looks into your eyes again, you take him by surprise, kissing him. Both of your hands go to his face, caressing him as you kiss.
You pull away from him and let your foreheads touch.
âShow me how I can make you feel good too.â
Jimin sees sincerity in your eyes. So, he lets down his walls of insecurity and agrees to let you do it.
Something so simple and that any boy wouldn't hesitate to let a girl do. But he can't be like that. Jimin could never use someone just for his pleasure. He doesn't work that way.
âOkayâŚâ
You sit a little further away, but still on top of his thighs. Just enough so that you can see the bulge in his pants.
Jimin guides your hand to the bulge between his legs and you touch it hesitantly. It's warm and hard and you gasp in surprise. Jimin doesn't miss a moment of your reactions.
You start to caress him over his pants, hesitant and embarrassed. You feel his eyes burning into you. Jimin analyzes your every move.
But you want more. You want to feel and see what it's like.
âCan I touch...?â
âYou're touching.â
âNot like this.â
Jimin bites his lips.
You're going to drive him crazy like this.
Jimin takes your hand and puts it on the waistband of his pants. He doesn't stop to think about the situation, otherwise he would lose his courage. And deep down, you're also thinking the same thing.
You help him pull down his sweatpants and underwear, freeing his hard, hot member that rests against Jimin's belly.
You try not to look too surprised, but it's practically impossible. You swallow him with your eyes. This is the first time you've seen a dick in real life.Â
âWhat?â Jimin asks, a little embarrassed.
A thousand thoughts run through his head. You didn't like it? Was it what you expected? Maybe you think he is small?
He shifts uncomfortably on the bed and you look at him and notice his discomfort. Finally you answer.
âNothing, it's... it's just the first time I've seen a... uhâŚâ
âDick?â
You close your eyes for a second at the way he talks. So dirty and different.
âYeahâŚâ
You donât know how to say this, but Jimin is incredible. The shape and size, the veins covering him, the pink, leaking tip. You didnât know you could get this turned on. Your eyes are glued to him.
âDo you like it?â
âOh, yes.â You say promptly.
Jimin feels a weight lift off his shoulders when he hears you responding so enthusiastically.
âYou can touch.âÂ
You bit your lip and reached out to touch him for the first time. You felt him in your hand, warm and hard. It was the first time you were touching him like this and also the first time you had touched anyone like this.
Your fingers closed around his cock and you tested how tight you could get. Jimin immediately closed his eyes and moaned. You glanced up at him, surprised by the sound he made.
Your heart started pounding in your chest and you felt that pulse return to your core. You could never imagine how sexy Jimin would look moaning like that and it definitely turned you on. You wanted to see more of this.
You start to move back and forth carefully, not sure if you should do it that way. You lick your lips and look at him. His eyes are glued to you, practically swallowing you.
âHere, squeeze like this.â He wraps his fingers together with yours and squeezes hard, showing you how much pressure you can apply.
Another moan escapes his lips, but this time Jimin continues to look directly at you.
âNow do it like thisâ he guides your hand up and down his cock, while he doesn't take his eyes off yours. âOh, that's it, just like that.â he moans with satisfaction when you take the rhythm by yourself.
You are fascinated by him. His moans encourage you to continue. Your hand quickly moves up and down his cock.
Jimin is lost in the vision he has of you giving him pleasure. He can't control his mind with the various dirty scenes he imagines the two of you doing.
Your eyes alternate between looking at his cock and watching his reactions. You want to lick it but you're afraid it'll be too much, so you settle for giving him pleasure with just your hand.
âI'm closeâŚâ
Jimin moans louder and you feel your parts contracting. It's so exciting to know that he's moaning like this because of you. You feel powerful and confident.
You squeeze him tighter in your hand and the noise is loud and sticky. His hand goes to your face and lifts your chin, caressing your jaw.
âYou're so beautiful-ohâ
You let out a soft moan because your wrist is starting to hurt, but you don't want to stop. Jimin looks like he's about to cum and you don't want to miss that scene.
Suddenly, you hear the front door creaking. You hear your mother calling your name from the living room, along with the sound of keys being dropped on the counter. Your eyes almost pop out of your head when you look at Jimin.
You quickly pull away.
Jimin stands up and pulls up his underwear along with his pants and tries to fix his hair, which is a mess.
Yours is also a mess and you try to tie it in a ponytail. As soon as you tie your hair, you pick up the notebooks that are thrown on the floor and try to fix the pages that fell.
Jimin sits at his computer desk with a notebook in his hand. He tries to adjust his erection that is painfully pressing inside his pants. He crosses his legs to try to hide it. Jimin runs his hand through his hair, smoothing it back and notices that his forehead is sweaty. He tries to wipe it off while you climb into bed and arrange your study materials.
Your mother knocks on the door at the same time and enters the room. She is surprised to see the two of you, but if she noticed anything, she didn't show it on her face.
âAh, you're here. How dedicated. â She says, smiling at the two of you.
âGood afternoon, ma'am.â
âHi, mom. You're early today.â your voice comes out a little breathless and Jimin gives you a quick look, without your mother noticing.
âOh yeah. I didn't have much work today so I ended up leaving early.â she explains and you agree. âWhat are you studying?â
Your mother's eyes scan your notebooks. You swallow.
âBiologyâ
It wasn't a lie.
But due to the events of a few minutes ago, this information suddenly seemed very funny.
Jimin does his best with his head down on his notebooks to keep from bursting out laughing. The last thing you need right now is to make a mistake in front of your mother.
âOh, really?â your mother says. âNext time, study in the living room okay? â she looks at you two and winks.
Soon she leaves the door and leaves it leaning against it, you and Jimin with your eyes almost popping out of their sockets.
You look at each other and start to laugh softly. You cover your mouth with your hand.
You feel so dirty but at the same time so alive. You can't understand it, you just feel a sense of happiness.
âDo you think she noticed?â Jimin asks
âWell, your hair is practically dripping.â you point out and he quickly starts running his hand through his hair. âI don't think she thinks it's that hard to study biologyâ you laugh a little
Jimin laughs as he finishes fixing his hair. Your hair isn't perfect either, but the ponytail disguised it a bit. What couldn't be disguised were your completely red cheeks, but that's just a detail.
âWe didn't lie, at least.â Jimin says, shrugging.
You throw a pillow at him. He's so cheeky sometimes.
âLet's study for real now!â
You try to sound bossy but it doesn't come out as expected. But Jimin finds your mannerisms cute and agrees.
âYes, ma'am!â
You really need to focus on something other than reflecting on the events from now.Â
Things have flowed at such a natural and pressure-free pace that you donât feel as guilty as you thought you would. And most of all, you trust Jimin, so things are kinda okay.
The thing that bothers you and stayed in your head even when you were already taking a shower to go to bed at night is: things are moving forward gradually and that would be fine, if you weren't best friends.
And your head starts spinning because all of this started under the pretext that you were practicing your first kiss, but look at it now.
You really try not to think about it too much, but as soon as you lay your head on the pillow, the only thing that goes through your mind is: aren't we going too far?
As soon as Jimin enters the classroom early in the morning, the teacher calls on him for a few seconds before starting the class.
âJimin, I need to talk to you. Please stay at the end of the classâ the academic planning teacher says and takes Jimin by surprise.
Jimin agrees and goes to sit in class right behind you. You didn't see him go talk to the teacher because you were talking to the guys and he didn't have time to tell you because class started right after.
He couldn't get it out of his head even during class. Jimin already knew more or less what the teacher was going to say, but he was still nervous. He knew that time was running out and he needed to make a decision about it soon.
At the end of class, you gather your things and wait for Jimin. Everyone has already left but Jimin is still taking a long time.
âCome on, Mimi!â
Jimin is slower than usual. And quieter than usual. You didn't know why. You wanted to ask him on the way home.
âI'm going to have to stay here.â
You don't understand.
âWhy?â your face wrinkles in confusion.
Jimin lifts his face and looks at you, he has a serious expression on his face.
âI have a meeting with the academic planning teacher.â
Now you understand. That means it's time for him to decide which dance school he wants to go to, so he can send in his documents and apply. Your heart starts beating faster.
âOh, that's good, right? Is it about the dance school you want to go to?â
âYeahâŚâ
You notice that there's something strange about him. Why isn't he happy about this?
âWhat's wrong with you?â
âIt's nothing, I'm just nervous.â
You give him a small smile and move closer to him. It's a big decision, you understand why he's nervous.
âItâs okay, Mimi. Iâm sure everything will be fine.â
You know youâre closer than you should be because you can smell his scent and the warmth of his body. But thereâs no one around right now and you let yourself be. To be honest, youâre a little tired of pretending youâre not that close in front of others.
Jimin gives you a sad smile. And all he can see are your eyes shining with excitement for him.
If you only knew...
âThank you.â
âNo need to thank meâ
The room is empty and the school is starting to get quiet because everyone has already rushed out to leave.
Jimin comes closer to you and seals your lips for a few seconds. You are so surprised that you don't even have time to close your eyes.
âFor luckâ
And you blush.
âI'll go first then.â
Jimin agrees with you and you say goodbye.
"I really think you should apply to that dance school in Seoul, Jimin. It's your best chance, even if it's far away."Â
Jimin considers the teacher's words, his hands sweating coldly in his lap. Jimin knows the teacher is right, but he doesn't know what to say to that. He hadn't anticipated this whole situation, this whole sudden change of scenery.
He couldn't imagine living in another city alone.
âI know it's a big step to live away from your parents, but you should consider this possibility if it's really your dream.â
Jimin just agrees with everything the teacher says, but he can't say much, even though he's thinking a thousand things at the same time.
"And with your grades and your talent, I'm sure you'll get in."
Jimin is happy, really. But some things hold him back, despite his happiness. And he feels conflicted about his feelings.
When he gets home that day, he knows he's already made up his mind. He just doesn't know how to tell you. And even though you said you'd go with him, he knows that wouldn't be a reality. Your parents are too strict about letting you go to college far from home.
Jimin decides to wait a little longer to tell you about it.

Satellite Call. Part I: What You Kept Hiden from Me (Spencer Reid x Fem!BAU!Reader)
------------------Â
Author Masterlist | Series Masterlist
------------------
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Fem!Reader.
Words count for this part: 3.2k
Series summary: Your world crushes when Spencer is arrested. Between finding a way to get him out and keeping you afloat, there is something else you need to focus on, too. And even when you thought things couldnât go worse, a tragedy makes you question if you can make it through.
Part I summary: One of Spencer's trips to Mexico ends badly, and you don't know how to react and what to do.
Series warnings: ANGST (with CAPS). 18+ (MDNI). Some heavy topics will be discussed and shown here. Prison arc, but mostly from Reader's perspective and Emilyâs. More detailed under the cut.
Spencer lies to his wife. Drug consumption (against their will). Pregnancy symptoms. Spencer is in jail for more than three months. Hospital visits, doctorâs info dumping (not accurate). Alcohol consumption. Arguing. Strong language. A lot of crying. Emotional breakdowns. A car crash happens (as in the CM storyline). Character dies. More hospital things. Miscarriage. More angst. Depressing symptoms. Mourning. Self-doubt. Suicidal ideation, and almost consummated. Emily is everyoneâs emotional support.
---------------
Spencer thought you would be outside the correctional, just as Penelope is now, waiting for him. But you are not. He either didn't ask JJ why you weren't with her picking him up from inside in the first place. Spencer just assumed you didn't want to be in there, and he understood your reasons. You stopped visiting him because it was hard to see him locked up like that and not do anything about it. Or at least it was what you said to him in a letter Emily handed him during a visit time when you didn't show up. It was a month ago.
After a tight hug with Penelope, Spencer couldn't help but ask.
"Where is she?"
JJ, Luke, and Garcia exchange a troubled look, something Spencer sure does notice. When he sees Garcia's glassy eyes, his gaze settles on JJ and Luke for answers.
"Spence, sheâ" JJ doesn't know how to express a fact she knows will break her friend.
"Man, she - we should go to the hospital right now." Luke chooses to point out what to do instead of why.
"What?! Why? What happened?!" A frantic Spencer starts to question. What the hell had happened to you? Why are you in a hospital? There are too many questions in his brain right now.
With a hand on his shoulder, Luke gently propels him to start walking to the car.
"We are going to tell you everything, I swear. But let's go to the car, okay?" This time, it's JJ's turn to speak, trying to make Spencer move.
Spencer hasn't felt so confused and afraid even in the four months of being locked up in jail.
---------------
Five months ago
Exhausted. It's the definition of how you feel after the draining case you just ended in Tampa. The jet is quiet enough to assume everyone is sleeping. But although the evident tiredness consumes your body and brain, you can't bring yourself to sleep. Instead, you look at your front, where your husband is reading a book. His eyes look heavy, but you know he can't sleep either, not before decompressing first. And for that, a good book tends to work most of the time.
It's amazing how you can love someone so much. After two years of marriage and a couple of years as coworkers and friends before that, it isn't easy to think of Spencer as anything less than your soulmate and the love of your life.
You are lost in your thoughts, and you don't notice Spencer's eyes on you, a lazy smile on his face.
"Where did that pretty little head go?"
You don't know if the blush on your cheeks is from being caught or from Spencer's loving tone. Maybe both.
"Nowhere in particular. Just wondering."
"Yeah?"
"Mm-mm."
"Care to share?" Spencer asks with curious eyes.
"Well," you start, smiling at him. "Since you brought it up and knowing we have two days off, what about a getaway out of the city, huh?"
It's not a sudden idea. You and Spencer have been thinking about doing something like that for a few weeks. After a chaotic couple of months at the BAU, you both need time for yourself.
Spencer's eyes softenedâa little pout on his lips.
"Sweetheart, I'm sorry, but I promised my mom's doctor I would be in Houston tomorrow."
You don't remember Spencer telling you that. Could it be that you had forgotten?
"Oh. I didn't know. Something happened to Diana?"
Spencer shakes his head.
"No. Just the usual. The doctors are adjusting the treatment, and we're doing a follow-up, that's all."
Another source of stress for Spencer in the past months has been Diana's health. After an important decline, he got her mom into an experimental treatment in Houston. Spencer fought hard to get her admitted, and even if you weren't sure about it, you supported him in everything related to it. That's why you won't even protest losing another chance to spend time together.
"I'm sorry," Spencer apologizes when he sees you haven't said anything. Reaching for your hand, you hold it and squeeze it reassuringly.
"It's okay, Spence. You must be there. And maybe it's a good chance for me to have a long beauty sleep," you shrug. In all honesty, your body has been yelling for uninterrupted sleeping hours in the past weeks.
"I promise we'll make up for the lost time when I come back, okay?" Spencer offers, kissing your hand. You nod and give him a soothing smile.
Some weeks later, the loud ringing of your phone wakes you from your sleep. Not fully conscious of your surroundings, you pat to the right side of the bed, expecting to feel Spencer next to you, but it's empty. Then you remember you are alone because Spencer had to go to Houston again this week.
"Hello?"
"Did I wake you up?" A confused Emily asks at the other end of the call. You check your bedside clock, and it reads 11 AM. You have been sleeping for twelve hours now.
"Yeah," you rub your tired eyes. I think I caught something. My stomach feels funny, and I was so exhausted last night. What is it? Do we have a case?"
"No, but- Have you heard from Spencer?" Emily asks cautiously.
"He called last night and told me he would come back today." There is a tense silence between you both. "Emily, what's wrong?" you ask.
"You should come to the BAU." It's all she says, and you know something bad happened.
Everything has been a blur since Emily's call and your arrival at the BAU.
As you bolt into your boss's office, you see her, David, and Penelope there, a troubled expression on their faces.
Emily is who delivers the news. Spencer has been arrested in Mexico after a car chase and caught with drugs in the trunk.
It's like she is telling you a movie plot. There is no chance she is talking about Spencer, your husband. No, it can't be. Your husband left two days ago for Houston to check on his mom, as he has been doing in the past month.
But as much as you want to deny what you are hearing, Spencer's mugshot, appearing on Garcia's screen, is screaming the truth.
You think you might throw up. And you do. Quickly excusing yourself, you run to the nearest bathroom to empty your stomach.
It's the same Emily Prentiss who enters the bathroom after you and holds your hair as you keep kneeling before the toilet.
"We are going to bring him back. I swear. Everything is going to be okay," Emily assures you, rubbing your back.
You want to believe her, but not knowing why this is happening makes it hard to think clearly.
You insist on going to Matamoros with Luke and Rossi, and no one dares to protest. You're visibly upset and confused, but staying in Quantico is not an option.
On the plane, Emily sits in front of you. You know why.
"I swear I didn't know anything, Em. I'm as confused as everyone," you confess. "And it's killing me. I know Spencer never would do what they say he did, but either I can explain why he was there."
"I know, but you must have caught something. Has Spencer seemed nervous or extremely quiet lately? Maybe a phone call or something that made him change his mood."
You think for a moment. Spencer has indeed been more pensive in recent weeks, particularly since Diana joined the new treatment. It's also true he's told you less and less about how things are going with her. But you assume it's because he's been worried about everything going well and not because something bad was happening.
A memory suddenly appears in your mind. One night after arriving from the BAU, you were making something to eat, and Spencer left his phone on the counter while he took a shower. You looked at the device, thinking it might be from work, but the name 'Dr. Medina' appeared on the screen. You didn't recognize the name because, according to what Spencer had told you, her mom's new doctor was Dr. Hammond.
"After he checked his phone, he quickly called back, but he went to the bedroom to make the call. I didn't pay enough attention. I should have doneâ" You trail off, and Emily rubs your arm to comfort you.
"Hey, don't. We don't know if that has to do with what's going on, so let's not get ahead of ourselves."
It's easy to say but almost impossible to achieve, especially when, upon arriving at the Matamoros police station, in one of the cells, you see your husband lying on a bench with his eyes lost in the ceiling.
"Spencer?" you mumble, but loud enough to catch Spencer's attention. He sits and looks at you with eyebrows furrowed as if trying to remember who you are. Some feet behind you, Emily, Luke, and Rossi stand, witnessing your interaction.
Without saying anything, Spencer gets up and walks over to where you are, only separated by his cell bars. With that closeness, you can see the several cuts all over your husband's face; his clothes are torn. But what shocks you are Spencer's red and lost eyes. He is visibly high.
"Do you know who I am?" you ask almost in a whisper, scared of his answer. Spencer nods slowly, his eyes shifting from lost to sad. He recognizes you.
"I'm sorry." It's not much, but you can't hold it against him right now, not when answers are required in the first place.
"Baby, it's okay. We're going to get you out of here, okay? But you need to talk to us. Can you do that?"
It's not until a couple of hours later Spencer fully returns to himself, the effects of the drugs leaving his body.
For the sake of the case, you stay out of it while Spencer tells the team what happened. You donât want Spencer to feel uncomfortable admitting he has lied to you for weeks.
After Emily conducts a cognitive interview to get details that could help, Spencer returns to his cell. When Emily, Luke, and Rossi leave the police station to search for evidence, only you are left there with him.
Spencer looks embarrassed, and you can feel the gears in his head turning as he tries to find a way to talk to you. When he comes empty of words, he addresses you instead.
"Can you please say something?" His voice is tentative and pained.
"I don't know what you want me to say," you reply honestly.
Spencer sighs deeply. "Tell me whatever you're thinking now. Yell at me, tell me I'm a fucking liar, that I dragged you into this mess, tell me I'm a terrible husband."
You consider his words for a moment. Is it true everything Spencer says is what you're thinking? It probably is, but you don't feel like you have the energy to bring it out the way he wants. However, there is one underlying question that has been on your mind since all this started.
"Why? Why you kept it from me? You don't trust me enough to tell me those things?"
"No, don't say that. I do trust you," Spencer rushes to say, but he knows it's a weak defense considering the circumstances.
"Then I don't get it. Why, Spencer?" Your tone isn't accusatory but sad. You could have helped him if you had known. But he, for some reason, decided against it.
"I was trying to protect you," he says and shakes his head. "I know it sounds stupid now we are here, but it's true. I didn't want you to worry about my mom's situation. I'm so sorry."
Spencer is probably telling the truth, but it doesn't make you feel better. Not seeing him behind bars like this.
The helplessness of not having anticipated this situation and now being unable to do anything to solve it eats you up inside. Despite that, you know Spencer is having it worse. So you, as his partner and who loves him the way you never loved anyone, decide to put your feelings aside to be his support at this difficult moment.
"It's okay," you assure him, placing your hands between the bars to hold his. Spencer is quick to respond and grabs onto your hands as if you were a lifeline to him. "We'll figure it out."
Spencer's eyes fill with tears as he repeatedly murmurs, 'Thank you' and 'I love you.'
You have always considered yourself a strong and tenacious woman. Since you were a kid, you have been independent and able to overcome everything that came your way. But adult life has continued to test you, and this has been no exception. When you find out Nadie Ramos has been murdered and all the evidence points to Spencer, you're about to break down. Still, you can't because if you do, who's going to support your husband? You have to be strong. Some reprieve emerges when you learn Ramos is an American citizen and Spencer can be prosecuted on American soil.
Baby steps.
The jet is mostly silent, save for Emily's occasional page-turning or Luke's typing on his phone. Rossi seems to be sleeping. You and Spencer are in one of the back seats. Spencer's head is in your lap while you absentmindedly play with his hair, looking at the night sky out the window.
"You think Scratch is behind this?" Spencer asks, pulling you out of your thoughts. You consider your answer for a couple of seconds.
"I do. I mean, it's such a damn elaborate plan. I can't think of anyone but Scratch."
Spencer assumes a sitting position and examines your face. He knows you are upset. Cupping your cheeks, he looks directly at your eyes.
"I have no words to say how sorry I am. And I promise to make it up to you for the rest of my life when this is over."
You close your eyes and take a deep breath. When you open them again, you are met with Spencer's expecting gaze.
"I know you will." And you really think that. "I love you, Spencer. I'm sure we are going to get through this." Your voice trembles with emotion, but your words seal a promise you mean to keep.
"And I love you. So so much. God, I'm so lucky to have you." Spencer's arms envelope you in a tight embrace. You melt into him, breathing his scent. It's the way you usually use to ground yourself. It's hard right now because, once the jet lands in Virginia, Spencer will get snatched from you, for God knows how much time it will take.
When the BAU elevator doors open, you find JJ, Penelope, and Tara waiting for you all. Spencer has his cuffed hands covered with your FBI jacket so as not to attract too much attention. Garcia is the first to rush forward and hug him.
You only have fifteen minutes. Then, the police officers will take him to the station to book him and leave him in a cell.
JJ and Tara hug him, too. You assume they are giving him reassuring words, something you know he needs right now. From your peripheral, you see Emily exchange glances with Stephen and retreating to Emily's office. You can't say what's going on, but curiosity gets the best of you, and you follow them. You know Tara, Penelope, and JJ will keep Spencer occupied for a couple more minutes.
"What? Is the bureau abandoning him?" You hear Emily ask, visibly upset.
"They said Reid traveled with his personal passport and didn't inform the office. That's enough for them to step aside," Stephen explains.
"So we don't have legal support," Emily confirms, and Stephen nods.
You can't help but interrupt the conversation.
"What? Spencer will not have a defense?" Both Emily and Stephen startle and turn to see you. While Stephen gives you an apologetic look, Emily is quick to speak.
"Not provided by the FBI, but it doesn't mean Spencer will be alone in this. We'll find a lawyer for him."
"They do want to bury this, don't they? It's bad publicity, and Spencer will fall for it," you start to complain, your breathing picking up speed.
"Hey! We won't let that happen, do you hear me?" your boss steadies you and makes you look at her with both hands on your shoulders. "But for now, Spencer can't know. Not until we get this figured out."
As in cue, you look through Emily's window and see Spencer still chatting with JJ and Penelope.
"This is a nightmare," you mumble. Emily squeezes your shoulder.
"We're going to solve it, I promise."
You see Spencer looking around with a frown. Penelope and JJ are still talking to him, but Spencer seems to be looking for something, better said, someone: you. Cautiously, you descend the stairs to join him. You know you donât have much time, and you know you canât tell him about the lack of a lawyer.
âHey,â Spencer calls when he finally sees you.
âSorry, I went to talk to Emily about something real quick while giving you time with the team.â You donât want to delve into specifics and hope Spencer doesn't ask about it.
âThank you. Can we talk more privately?â
âSure.â You both move to a corner with fewer people around. Spencerâs eyes trail every part of your face as he wants to engrave you in his memory. At the lack of words, you frown. âSpencer?â
âI know this isnât going to be easy. Iâm terrified, and not just for me. Iâm scared about how this will affect you and us. I just want to say that I love you with all my heart, but I will understand if this becomes too much. You don't owe me anything. Donât feel obligated-â
âStop! Stop right there. Donât even try to finish that sentence,â you rush to cut him off.
âBut-â
âNo. You are my husband. You are the love of my life. You are the person I chose to share my life with. In thick and thin, remember?â You cup his face so he can look directly at your eyes. âIâm not going anywhere. Physically, weâll be apart, but I wonât rest until I get you out, and we'll be together again, okay?â
Spencerâs eyes fill with tears, and so do yours. He leans down to catch your lips with his. He canât hold you - heâs cuffed - but for now, you can do that work. Lacing your arms around his neck, you deepen the kiss, and you can feel your tears mixing.
âIâll make it up to you. I promise,â Spencer mumbles on your lips.
âI know you will,â you mumble back before kissing him again.
Emily clearing her throat takes you both out of your bubble.
âIâm sorry, guys, but itâs time. Police are here,â she apologetically announces. You look at Spencer, and he nods. It's time. With a last lingering kiss and an âI love you,â he turns and follows Emily down the hall. Spencer doesn't turn around because he knows if he does and looks at you, he wonât be able to leave you there.
You watch him walk away and wonder if this nightmare will end soon. You don't know if you'll have the strength to hold on to him and yourself and if the love you share will be enough to keep the hope of a better tomorrow alive.

â¨â¨Congrats on 500 followers!!! â¨â¨
I know you only just finished red ribbon but my request is that I would love to know if bunny goes back to working for Billy and if she does is he be able to keep his hands to himself or would he cause problems?? đ
đ
đ
đ
OF COURSE BILLY WOULD CAUSE PROBLEMS AND NOT KEEP HIS HANDS TO HIMSELF!! no but seriously, I actually really wanted to put a scene like this in The Red Ribbon because (as far as I've planned for a second series) she does go back to work for Billy. So, I really enjoyed writing this silly little thing, I hope you enjoy reading it!!
Better At You
Pairing : Billy Russo x Reader
Fic Universe : The Red Ribbon
Story Rating : RÂ
Warnings : [This is 18+ only, minors DNI] Smutty behaviour. Â
He sat hunched over his desk, elbows braced on the wooden surface, thumb and forefinger pinching the bridge of his nose. Youâd heard more than enough through the door to know that his meeting with his business partner Frank had not gone well. So, once Frank had made his exit, you had decided to go check on Billy.
âAre you okay?â You asked as you rounded his desk and perched on the edge of it beside him.
âFine,â he grumbled, not even bothering to look up at you.
For a few seconds you hesitated, carefully considering your next move. Youâd both agreed that work needed to be separate, that you needed to remain professional but, after two weeks, you were already starting to struggle.
âNo youâre not,â you said, finally reaching a decision. âYou barely slept last night, you skipped breakfast, and all youâve had since getting to the office is a coffee.â
As you spoke, you dared to place a hand on his shoulder, feeling the uncomfortable tension that filled his body.
âYouâre supposed to be my PA, not my mother,â he snapped, pulling away from your hand.
It was the first time heâd snapped at you in weeks, the first time since youâd started your relationship. And, for a moment you were frozen, shocked by his little outburst. Then you shook your head and stood - heâd agreed that he wouldnât snap anymore, that heâd never take his shitty mood out on you at work.
A second later, he realised what heâd done and, before you could walk away, his hand was on your wrist, pulling you back towards him.
âBunny, Iâm - Iâm sorry,â he said quickly. âYouâre right, I didnât sleep and I feel like shit, but I shouldnât take it out on you.â
âYou promised me that -â
âI know. I know I did,â he sighed. âIâm trying, itâs just... Frank says weâre gonna have to get the Feds and maybe Homeland involved to find out just how deep this thing with Rawlinâs goes, and -â
âThatâs no reason to snap at me.â
âI know. Fuck - I know. Iâm sorry, Bunny.â
You knew that he meant it, that he really was sorry, and that was enough. At least, for now.Â
Stepping closer, you reached for him, your hand cupping his cheek tenderly. Despite your agreements to keep things professional, you couldnât help but want to comfort him. He finally relaxed a little at your touch, and that made you feel a little better.
âI donât suppose I could talk you into cancelling the rest of your meetings, leaving early and going home to get some sleep?â You asked, your voice turning low, worried that someone might overhear you even though you knew there was no one else on the floor.
âDepends, are you offering to come home with me?â He asked just as softly.
âI have all that paperwork to finish filing, remember? Besides, if I go home with you, the last thing youâre gonna do is sleep.â
His hand on your wrist gave a gentle tug, pulling you closer, until you were standing between his legs. Then both of his hands found their way to your hips.
âWe agreed we werenât going to do this at the office,â you said, reminding him of your agreement while simultaneously completely ignoring it by letting your fingers slip into his hair.
Billyâs eyes closed and he let out a sigh, leaning into your touch.
As much as you believed it was a bad idea to let your personal lives and feelings bleed into work, seeing him like that, finally able to relax a little, left you with no doubt in your mind; he needed you.
He pulled you closer and, before you could stop to think about it, you were kissing him. A switch flipped inside you when he let out that first little groan against your lips, and it stopped being about what you shouldnât do and became more about what he obviously needed
When the kiss broke, you slowly dropped to your knees in front of him, all the while holding his gaze.
âBunny...â there was a warning in his tone, but something else too. Pleading.
âWeâll be quick,â you told him as you tugged open his belt and started on the fastenings of his pants. âBesides, your next meeting isnât for twenty minutes.â
Whatever Billy wanted to say died on his lips the moment you reached into his boxers and pulled out his cock. You watched as he licked his lips and sank back in his chair, putting himself completely in your hands, both literally and figuratively.Â
You started slowly, stroking his cock and watching as it got harder, revelling in the way that Billyâs breath caught. Youâd never known a man so needy, a man who craved your every touch as if heâd never been touched before. Honestly, you werenât sure if it was you or if Billy had always been that way, but you liked to think it was all for you.
His cock throbbed in time with his heartbeat, the tip quickly starting to leak. And the sounds - god, the sounds spilling from him made you feel like the most powerful person in the world.
âFuck,â he groaned at the feeling of your lips wrapping around him.
You almost smiled as you sank lower, taking more of him into your mouth, keeping your fist wrapped around the base of his cock, stroking what you couldnât take.
You started slowly, toying with him, dragging your lips up and down his shaft, tracing patterns on his skin with your tongue until you felt his fingers tangling in your hair.
âBunny,â he muttered, voice little more than a low growl.
Despite his grip on you, Billy knew better than to apply pressure. As desperate as he might have felt, he knew that you were in complete control, and he knew just how much that control meant to you.
Glancing up, you met his gaze and still for a moment, the tip of his cock in your mouth while your hand continued to stroke him.
âFuck, youâre beautiful,â he groaned. âSo fucking beautiful, Bunny,â
More little affirmations started to fall from him as your lips started to move again, this time bobbing your head faster and with more purpose, knowing that youâd finally gotten him to relax.Â
And that felt good. No, it felt amazing.
Youâd realised pretty quicking that it was what Billy needed in his life, it was what you wanted to give him. He saw you as a person, cared about you and cherished your time together, and you - you wanted to give him the happiness and stability that he craved. Maybe eventually there would be more, maybe in time the feeling in the pit of your stomach would even become love. But, for now, this was enough.
âBunny,â he gasped, his fingers tightening in your hair - not a lot, but enough to let you know he was getting close.
You didnât stop. Instead you doubled down, working your lips faster on his cock, gripping him a little tighter with your hand.Â
Again you looked up at him, catching the look of sheer pleasure and desperation on his face.
âBun -âÂ
He grunted as he started to come undone in your mouth, and you held him there, still stroking him until he was completely spent.
When you finally pulled back and looked up at him, you couldnât help but grin; his eyes were closed and tension and worry had left his face. If you didnât know him better, you might have said it looked like heâd just been through a life-changing experience.Â
His fingers slipped from your hair and back to your cheek again as he finally opened his eyes and looked at you.
âSo much for not doing that at the office,â he said playfully, tucking himself back into his pants.
âIt was an emergency,â you shrugged. âI couldnât have you turning into a cranky asshole and taking it out on everyone.â
âOh, so that was a public service blowjob?â Billy asked, grinning like he didnât have a care in the world.
âExactly. In fact, you could even say Iâm a superhero.â
âThatâs quite a superpower youâve got - though, I donât think theyâll be asking you to join the Avengers anytime soon.â
âTheir loss, Iâm actually also really good at -â
The sound of someone clearing their throat had Billy glancing towards his office door, his eyes going wide. You couldnât see who it was until you scrambled off your knees and stood again, quickly brushing your skirt down.
Frank Castle, Billyâs business partner, had come back.
Your cheeks warmed quickly, leaving you feeling like you were about to spontaneously combust.
âI, uh -â you tried to think, tried to come up with something to say, â- Iâll see if I can find something to stop your chair from squeaking, Mr Russo.â
And, with that, you quickly rushed out of the office, trying very hard not to make eye contact with either man on your way out.

nobody gets me, you do
Pairing: Ellie Williams x f! reader (ofc)
Summary: where your ex Ellie can't spend another day pretending she doesn't still love you.
Warnings: Inappropriate language.
-
you usually appreciated this kind of nights. Where you don't have to work and you can watch a series or put more effort into the food, and not just make a simple white rice. You used to appreciate it in Ellie's company. Now you prefer to keep your head busy, work, study, do some gardening even though you know perfectly well how horrible you are at it. And that your head will probably play tricks on you and remind you of how Els laughed for a week because a damn cactus dried up on you. A sigh escapes your thoughts. âSee, this is what happens when you're distracted,â you say to yourself, leaning against the kitchen counter. But your relaxed posture didn't last long, as someone knocked on your door. Strange, knowing that you didn't order anything to eat and didn't invite your friends. You walked to the door and opened it with your eyebrows furrowed, you were going to open your mouth but it was her, and you just stood with your hand on the door frame and your heart in your mouth.
Ellie looked at me and blinked rapidly, as if checking that this was not a dream. Her heel rested on the floor, leaving the toe of her slipper raised nervously. âheyâ she let out in a sigh, which she seemed to have been holding back for quite some time.
âheyâŚâ my voice betrayed me and trembled as I said something as small as a greeting. Though I guess it only matters who you're saying it to, and having her in front of you isn't easy, more so when you've had no contact for the past five months.
âI know it's weird, knocking on your door knowing we're not togetherâ she spoke fast on the last words, wanting to cover up the fact that you guys are apart, because it hurts her more than anything else in this world âbut I'd rather you see me as a freaking weirdo than keep this to myself any longer. Altough you know I'm weird, I mean, you know me better than anyone else and-â she stopped talking, knowing she was getting distracted.
âdo you want to come in and we can talk inside?â even though you're scared to death and more uneasy than ever, you acted calm so she would be too. She nodded and you invited her in, closing the door behind her. âsoâŚwhy are you here?â you don't act disinterested, not excited either, Even if you are. You disguise the fireworks in your stomach as you smell her perfume when she walked inside. As if your house is complete again.
âuhm, these five monthsâ she licked her lips nervously as she looks away remembering the days she spent without you âwere the worst months in the world. And it's just pathetic to tell you knowing that you're the reason I had such a hard time. Or the absence of you. I was with a part of you, with your ghost that haunted me everywhere I went reminding me that it wasn't going to be the same without you, and the worst part is that even though it wasn't really you it was all I had left to not feel completely alone in the world. So somehow I didn't want it to go awayâ her eyes finally met mine, softening âour pictures are still in my room, even our saved game from the last time we played Life is Strange together. I didn't touch it waiting for you to come back, in that stupid hope that you'd show up and we'd forget our stupid fight. But I guess our pride won us over once again.â she moves a little closer, slowly, as if she's afraid the floor beneath her will crumble âand for the first time in my life I couldn't care less about my pride because I know you're on the other side of the scale. And the love I have for you compares to absolutely nothing I have or will ever be able to have.â
your eyes become crystal clear, you think this is not real, you imagined so much that this moment would come, you made so many scenarios with Ellie and that she will come back into your life, but not like this. She is practically showing you her heart like never before, in a desperate attempt to get back to being everything she loves and still loves. You were going to say something, but she cut you off, she had more to tell you, more to show you how much she misses you.
âSo I'm here. I'm not going to lie to you and pretend that I don't expect you to answer me, that I'll be able to wait for you to think and answer me without falling apart from the anticipation of not being able to hold you in my arms again. I don't even know how I could endure these months without youâ finally closes the immense distance and gently caresses your hand tenderly âdo you know how desperate it is that no one understands you, that the only one who knew how to calm you down was miles away from me in body and soul?â
her eyes are desperately searching for yours and her voice is begging you âthe only person who could do that was you and it killed me to know that you didn't want to see me when all I wanted to do was kiss you as if the world would end after that. Nobody gets me, you do. Nobody can beat your eyes, your touch, your voice, your jokes, your love. I couldn't even look at another woman because I knew no one was worth it, no one is worth it. No one can look at me and know when I'm anxious, or how much I love space. They would see the stuffed dinosaur I have in my room as a simple stuffed animal, when you took the time to know which one is my favorite and buy it for my birthday and when I would give an explanation of that dinosaur and why I have that damn stuffed animal the only thing I will think about is that I lost you forever and and-"
you approached her and gave her a sudden kiss, knowing that if you let her talk anymore, anxiety would eat her up. The kiss is tender, desperate for time apart, but at the same time soft and romantic. Her hands brought your hips closer to hers while you caressed the back of her neck. After a few seconds you separated and rested your foreheads without taking your hands off where you had them
"I hope you never have to explain to anyone why you have a dinosaur in your room because I'm not going to lose you again" Ellie smiled and hugged you, hiding her face in your neck "I wasn't planning on doing it anyway. I was going to die without you then I wouldn't give myself the chance to have another girlfriend" you laughed caressing her hair "I missed you, Els" she kissed your neck tenderly without letting go "I missed you too baby"

Why I Love The Owl House: Part Six-Praises, Problems, and Perotations
Prev Part
âŚPerotations is a synonym for âConclusions.â Had to stretch for illiteracy, thereâŚAnyways.
Salutations, random people on the internet who are already skimming past this! I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons.
Here it is, friends and followers. The very last thing I have to say about The Owl House. Or things, plural. You see, this isnât like the previous parts. In the past, weâve discussed the show in every possible aspect all while circulating around a common theme, whether itâd be the characters, their relationships, the arcs, and the messages that the series is trying to tell. However, thereâs a lot more to discuss about The Owl House than just those four things. Itâs just difficult to find a theme for each topic because, well, I donât have much left to say. That and thereâs nothing these last few points have in common with each other to lump into a shared post. So this final part of this whole long ass thing is sort of me just me listing out the last few praises and problems I have with the series before reaching that perotation. And yes, Iâm still sticking with perotation. Might as well commit.
Also, to keep things fair, each praise I give the show will be immediately followed up with a nitpickâI mean, problem. Thatâs how itâs gonna go for this whole part, as we go back and forth from praise to problem, praise to problem, and so on and so forth until we reach the end. Weâre in the homestretch here, folks, so letâs stop stalling and finally wrap up a review thatâs three years in the making as I finally answer WHY I love The Owl House.
Praise: It rewards multiple rewatches
Thatâs the best thing to say about a serialized show like The Owl House. Knowing about big reveals or the direction of the story is going helps make rewatching it a little more fun. You get to pick up on all the little clues that the writers left behind or how moments can be recontextualized. Thereâs little stuff like how Amity tried running away from Luz in the ROMANCE section of the library or the proud look in Aladorâs eye as Amity fends off the abomaton, showing that there were ideas that the crew were planning to set up but left behind these hints, both subtle and not, and making fans realize that the writers thought that far ahead (Most of the time). Even the little things like seeing a Grom poster in the background in an episode leaves a nice teaser for something fun thatâs to come while making fans smile at that particular attention to detail.
But it gets better with the bigger reveals. Raine especially is a great example of this, as they have two big moments that recontextualize how they interact with Eda in previous episodes. In âEdaâs Requiem,â itâs clear that thereâs some romantic tension between the two, with Eda particularly being a blushing mess. It leads viewers to believe that the two share feelings for each other, but never admit it, with a few fans even joking that Eda isnât that suave if sheâs so flustered around an old crush. Then in the VERY NEXT EPISODE, we learn that Eda and Raine arenât old crushes but are instead exes. It makes all the romantic tension in that episode feel more engaging now that you have that information in mind, as it tells you that these two still have feelings for each other, with Edaâs being the strongest seeing how she didnât want the relationship to end but willing to keep quiet because sheâs not willing to admit it. Itâs a great utilization of recontextualization that makes the text more engaging, with the crazy part being the writers do it AGAIN in the same season. In âFollies of the Coven Day Parade,â weâre led to believe that Raineâs brainwashed by some potion Terra gives them, with Edaâs attempts to break Raine out looking like theyâre WORKING but not hard enough. The biggest sign that Eda broke through was a tear from Raine, but even then it didnât look like much as Raine went right back to chugging Terraâs concoction. Only for âThemâs the Breaks, Kidâ to reveal that Raine was NEVER under any hypnosis or spell. They used bard magic to change the mixture with just a whistle, which we see Raine do when they first drink something Terra gave them. Not only is that a brilliant case of laying down the groundwork for a bigger reveal down the road, but it makes all of Raineâs actions in that episode have an extra sense of drama to them as we now know theyâre faking being brainwashed and are trying to push Eda away from the oncoming conflict. âFollies at the Coven Day Paradeâ is already an engaging episode, especially with the Eda and Raine subplot alone, but the prior knowledge of whatâs really going on with Raine just gives it an extra bit of edge that it didnât even need but Iâm appreciative of it anyway.
The same applies when fan theories turn out to be true. Now, there were a LOT of crackpot theories in this fandom, some of them going so far as believing that Luz would be possessed by The Collector (Remember that?). As for other theories, the show didnât have much that was as big as that. There was Hunter being a grimwalker, but the show basically spelled that out to us with how it practically shoved that spell book into our faces. There was King being a Titan, but that originally felt like a crack theory based on the SLIGHTEST things with no follow through only for the show to give us all the information we needed in one fell swoop. The only real theory that had any weight, large in part because the clues felt subtle enough to glance over and were frequent enough to remind fans of its possibility, is Belos being Philip/a human. I personally picked up on the possibility as early as âYoung Blood, Old Souls.â He didnât cast spells like other witches and his staff and parts of his robe looked more mechanical than magical. It made me think he had no natural magic of his own and, with humans being the only beings who lacked magic, the logical conclusion was that HE might be human too. Sure, his face revealed he had pointy ears, but they were noticeably smaller than most witches. Almost as if he sliced up his own ears to help make them look more like a witchâs. And I know you canât SHOW something like that in a kidâs show, but you can heavily imply itâŚwhich the series did through a portrait in Belosâ mind. Regardless, the show always left the validity of the theory as a possibility, with new information being thrown into the mix of whether Belos used to be Philip. They certainly sounded similar and, upon meeting Philip, a lot more of the pieces started to fall into place. His charm, inflections, and demeanor all pointed to the signs that these two were the same guy, with âHollow Mindâ only confirming it to the audience. With all this proper build up and explanations of who Belos is and why he acts in a certain way, not only does it make forming and reforming the theory more fun, but it makes rewatching Belosâ actions become more engaging as you get a better idea of what heâs going for. We know why heâs vague about his plans for the Day of Unity, why he treats Hunter so disrespectfully, and why he wants a portal to the Human Realm. It makes an already threatening villain more vile and intriguing all because we know exactly who he is, rewarding fans who already got close to predicting the truth by giving them more than what they bet on.
This is the fun of watching a show like The Owl House. With its tight continuity and story consistently building off of itself, it makes you appreciate all the finer details and see how it all mostly lines up. Not everything was planned out, but, for the stuff that was, it makes rewatching the series feel better and better as you know the writers spent so much time making sure everything they make lines up perfectly as they could. By knowing the truth, it can make fans appreciate even the TINIEST of moments in Season One that would HEIGHTEN the experience once you you got to Season ThreeâŚUnfortunately, though, there is ONE thing that the writers didnât fully work out, to the point where it kind of breaks the series when we get to that final season.
Problem: The timeline is all kinds of wonky
I donât mean all the stuff in the past. Caleb running away with Evelyn, Belosâ rise to power, Edaâs curse and all the consequences that came with it all line up well enough. What Iâm talking about is all the things that happened in the present. From âA Lying Witch and a Wardenâ to âThanks to Them,â a lot of the showâs attempts at making a timeline of events falls short.
At first, it seemed that they were doing a good job of it. They said that âI Was a Teenage Abominationâ and âCoventionâ were a week apart from each other, with the same being the case with the ladder episode and âLost in Language.â There, the writers were explicitly giving us an exact timeline of events, being relatively easy to follow. But either they realized that theyâre making the summer move along a little faster or they stopped caring about consistency, because they stopped mapping things out after âLost in Language.â From there on, the writers become noticeably vague about how far apart these events occurred. âKeeping Up A-Fear-Ancesâ has Luz assume that summer is over, so itâs definitely been months since the first episode, meaning weâre probably in FallâŚbut then it gets trickier. Because by the end of âReaching Out,â it shows us this calendar next to Camila that itâs currently the last week of August. Now, some summer camps donât last the WHOLE summer, Iâm sureâŚBut Camila, in the very first episode, specifically said, âThe next THREE MONTHS will fly by.â If itâs been three months, depending on the school Luz went to, we would be in August by âKeeping Up A-Fear-Ances.â However, itâs weird that weâre STILL in August in âReaching Out.â In order for that to make sense, every episode after âKeeping Up A-Fear-Ancesâ would be a day apart from each other. Is that plausible? Probably. But ONLY if camp ended at the exact time as âKeeping Up A-Fear-Ances.â What we saw in the ending could have been a few days, maybe a week at some random point of August.Â
And even IF events were a day apart, that still wouldnât work. Assuming itâs the middle of August, that either has not enough episodes or not enough days. And even then, to think that all of these episodes, EACH ONE, takes place a day after the other is INSANE. It definitely doesnât do Hunterâs redemption arc any favors if it took less than a month to change his perception of reality. Plus, something Raine said in âFollies at the Coven Day Paradeâ makes things MORE confusing. They said theyâve spent a MONTH in bed. Could be a part of the âbrainwashingâ thatâs making them say that, but still, a month WHEN? A month BEFORE or AFTER âEdaâs Requiem?â Because if it was a month BEFORE, why would the Emperorâs Coven make Raine think theyâve been taken care of BEFORE becoming an official Bard Head? And if itâs a month AFTER, then HOW?! IS IT?! STILL AUGUST?! Iâm telling you, it HURTS the brain to think about, and it hurts even MORE when thereâs a frickinâ scrap book in âThanks to Themâ that explicitly says the Hexsquad spent a SUMMER together, WHICH THE PHOTOS PROVE TO BE ACCURATE! Whenâs the last time youâve seen people go to the beach in the mid to late September? Or go tubing when weâre getting close to October? Or relaxing in the sun or enjoying your time in the garden when itâs the middle of FALL?! The math is NOT mathing in this scenario, and it really almost breaks the series.
Now, the question is this: HOW did this happen? Well, there are two theories, one generous and the other reasonable. The generous theory is that, given most of the timeline started getting broken in the second half of Season Two, itâs possible that this was a result of the story getting shortened (Yes, Iâm playing that card. Stick with me). The writers confirmed that the first half of Season Two was already written and put into production before Disney decided we canât have nice things and shortened the series. There were a LOT of things that were likely to happen in that longer version of The Owl House, with a âsummerâ in the human realm being something they thought up as a way to make the story more interesting despite the constrained time limit. However, like I said, thatâs being generous. Because the reality, in what I can assume, is that writers didnât do the math right and failed to properly communicate with the art department. Stuff like the calendar and scrapbook is something made by the background, prop, and storyboard artists, likely trying to clean things up and add more fun to the story, only for it to turn out that they didnât get the proper notes they needed. The resultsâŚdoesnât fundamentally destroy the series, but it does break things everytime you think about it. If youâre not paying attention, you wonât be bothered by any of it, but if the only solution is to tell people not to think about something in the series thatâs so brokenâŚis a bit of an unfair suggestion to make. You canât tell people to ignore something wrong with the story, no matter how good the rest of it is. Itâs still worth being brought up, even if itâs something small that turns into something BIGGER down the line. That way, it could help future writers, or people working on this show moving onto bigger things, to avoid facing a similar issue and make the NEXT story end up being a little less brokenâŚBut I can tell you what ISNâT broken in THIS series.
Praise: The Characters all feel solid.
âWhat does that even mean?â
Good question! Because I donât know.
Yeah, this oneâs more based on a FEELING I get when watching the show. Itâs something I notice when watching it alongside Amphibia, Gravity Falls, or most other 2D shows. Itâs even something I noticed with MoringMarkâs comics, which often nails a close approximation of the showâs art style, but SOMETHING always felt a little off. And itâs not when looking at the show do I realize the reason WHY is because The Owl House has a certainâŚvolume to it. Like, I can almost TOUCH these characters when theyâre on screen. As for how, again, I have no idea. It could be how the characters are colored, the weight in their lines, the way theyâre shaded, or even the ways theyâre meant to move. I donât know how or why The Owl House accomplishes this feeling I get from it, but I feel like itâs something worth mentioning, even if briefly.
See? Not every part of this final review will be long winded. Sometimes, I just gotta bring up small things that enough people talk about, to show how I appreciate The Owl House in most facets. Certainly helps when I bring up something that might get people angry.
Problem: The animationâs a bit too stiff at timesÂ
Not all the time, mind you. There are a lot of scenes where the series goes all out and adds so much fluidity in such a short scene. The problem comes when you realize how great THOSE scenes look causes the rest of the show toâŚNOT look like that.
To be clear, the animationâs not AWFUL. Iâd say more times than not, the show looks good. Itâs just that you can see where most of the budget went into for certain scenes. Itâs a tactic that action oriented shows use all the time, to have the dialogue heavy and character focused scenes be slow and stiff so that they can save the best work on the weekly fight scenes. HoweverâŚThe Owl House isnât an action oriented series. Itâs a fully character driven one, as Iâve thoroughly established for five frickinâ parts now. There are only a handful of big fight scenes, with only a quarter of them having that smooth as butter animation. Yeah, while hype up the big battles like Edaâs duel with Lilith, thereâs actually SOME fights where itâs the usual standard for the rest of the series, looking a bit stiff and slow. Sometimes, the same episode can have different animation for fights, with âFollies at the Coven Day Paradeâ having a stiff fight between Eda and Raine and a smooth one with Luz and Amity teaming up against Kikimora. The difference is noticeable and, the crazy thing is, I donât dislike either battle, regardless of its quality. I think both are still good in their own right, but the noticeable difference sticks out and makes you realizeâŚhow the rest of the series looks. Again, itâs still good, especially in Season Two where it feels like most of the stiffness got cleaned up a bit. Itâs just a thing where, despite how good some things look, it makes one almost feel that theyâre watching a different show when it suddenly turns up the quality. It feels weird that the show looking amazing is a problem, but it only is when it sticks out like a sore thumbâŚThat being said, though, the show DOES look frickinâ awesome when it wants to.
Praise: It has AWESOME fight scenes and cool uses of magic.
Is this contradictory? Only a little. And, to be fair, while there are times when the FLUID fight scenes DO stick out, they deserve all the praise in the world. Because unlike a certain book series that has magical fights in it, thereâs more of an attempt to go NUTS with the action outside of âIâm pointing my wand as hard as I can!â Shout out to How It Should Have Ended for nailing that, by the way, becauseâŚYeah, itâs accurate. If the best magical action you can come up with is characters pointing their wands at each other, itâs not really that visually compelling. Now, for The Owl House, you get a LOT more than pointing wands. You have characters dashing themselves away from big, magical blasts. Abomination goop being used as a shield, fists, or swords. Our plucky protagonist flying at the seat of her pants to try and defend herself from an evil emperor throwing everything he has at her. When the series wants to go hard, it does, regardless of how noticeable the quality difference is. And I appreciate the fact that The Owl House crew try so hard to make all magic that characters can do look awesome, regardless of it being an action scene or not. Outside of Oracle Magic, which never really got that much of a spotlight, all the other eight magical tracks are often shown to beâTo put it bluntlyâsuper cool. âEdaâs Requiemâ has a ton of moments like that with bard magic, giving us an actual idea of what itâs capable of and, albeit briefly with a guard putting on earmuffs, imply that itâs limited by people being able to HEAR the tunes bards play. Plus, the final act shows the capabilities of Abomination and Beast Keeping Magic with Darius being able to teleport people with goop and morph his body into goo while Eberwolf has better tracking skills and being able to summon beasts. Sure, it adds intensity to the scene and proves just how powerful these two are, but it also shows usâWithout telling usâwhat their magic types can do and how powerful one can get with a type of skill. Even something as simple as Viney casting a shield through healing magic or Bria making stone columns through construction is enough to tell the audience what we need to know about these types of magic and infer what ELSE witches like them can do in their respective tracks. It creates fun speculation on top of making the magic more interesting to watch as compared to the film adaptations of the unspoken book series. You should know which one by now.
However, as cool as the magic CAN be, how itâs casted could use some more punching up.
Problem: The magic system is kind of boring.
KIND OF. There being eight magic tracks is interesting and, as established, how those different magical spells are used can look visually intriguing. They definitely avoided the problem of characters just pointing wands for a fight, but they ran into this new issue of how the magic is casted. For every spell in every single trackâŚitâs just the characters drawing circles. Sometimes big circles, sometimes small circles, and sometimes multiple circles at once. The only time a circle isnât drawn is when a character uses a staffâŚmost of the time. Even then, there are instances when a circle needs to be drawn, even if theyâre not as frequent as a character casting magic without a staff. And Iâm not gonna lie, this is an issue Iâve had since the first few episodes of Season One. Itâs just such an uninteresting way for characters to cast magic, especially since itâs done by everybody, regardless of what spell it is. And you wanna know the worst part is? The show offers a more INTERESTING magic system than what most witches have.
Luzâs glyphs, much more than the spells, sucked in a lot of fansâ attention. There were people drawing their own ideas for glyphs that matched what COULD be in the show, or coming up with possible combinations when Season Two established that glyph combos are a possibility. And the reason WHY is because the glyphs are a more fascinating concept. They offer more variety of what they can do for Luz, and look more visually interesting than a circle in the air. What also benefits the glyphs are the limitations they have. They can do anything Luz wants, but she has to draw them EXACTLY as theyâre meant to. No line can be out of place, and the circle has to be perfect every single time. Amity proved what happens if you draw the glyph wrong in âReaching Out,â and that was just with ONE glyph. When it comes to drawing glyph combos, not only do you need to combine the right kinds of glyphs with a specific amount, but you need to draw them in a specific way. Itâs more than just drawing two glyphs on the same page, itâs drawing one on one part of a circle that connects it to another. Itâs complicated, and gets more so, depending on the spell. Belosâ teleportation glyph proves that you need more than paper to draw the whole thing out. And thatâs not getting into the other limitations Luz has with glyphs, like how the invisibility glyph can only work for as long as the user holds their breath. Thatâs a cool concept and makes one wonder how other glyphs can be limited despite the power they present. Which is more than I can say about spell circles.
Spell circles are just missing that little extra OOMPH. Itâs interesting that performing magic is more like a skill that a person needs to train themselves how to do. Like learning how to whistle or learning how to balance on one leg. Nothing strenuous, but nothing easy, either. Plus, the fact that thereâs occasional strain from doing a spell too big or characters collapsing after doing one for too long does at least SHOW that magicâs not easy to do. It just doesnât always LOOK hard, not from a viewerâs perspective. Maybe if something like Beast Keepers needed to make claw marks in the air or Plant Witches needed to draw squiggly lines to mimic vines. Or even if a spell requires a different colored circle, and being able to mix spells means you have to draw a variety of circles. JustâŚANYTHING to make it seem like thereâs more of an effort outside of drawing circles, all while impressing audiences with how cool the magic system could be. It doesnât kill the show in any way, but it does feel like there could have been more creativity. Itâd be difficult, but the show isnât afraid to present something engaging through visuals. And not just through the fight scenesâŚ
Praise: The show does great at showing development through outward appearances.
It might not be on the same level as an epic action scene, but this IS a nice attention to detail. You know why you often see characters wearing the same clothes in every episode, often with little variety? Itâs because doing so makes it easier for the animators, giving them a sense of consistency to know how to draw a character each time throughout the series, only changing it up for one episode, specific scenes, or even a quick gag. So to either make a permanent or even gradual change to the characterâs design as we reach a certain point in the story, itâs got to take a great attention to detail and continuity to make the change stay. Not only that, but there has to be a GOOD reason to do it. Sometimes, there isnât. Like, for Eda, I feel as though some higher ups started to discover the lewd art fans were making and told the animators to show less skin on her (Didnât work, they just made her look hotter). And for Gus, itâs just because the voice of his VA started getting deeper so they gave the character an older design to reflect thatâŚeven though, to this day, it makes me question what the hell âwitch pubertyâ is. But while those are small cases that are either done âjust becauseâ or âfor convenience,â there are some design changes that are often used to help tell the story and show how characters have grown and developed through the course of the series.
In a more permanent case, you have King and Amity. In âEchos of the Past,â King regains a piece of his old horn that Luz then glues back onto himâŚItâs weird that the horn fits perfectly and that it continues to grow as he ages, but, eh. Heâs a baby god. Thereâs probably some god magic theyâre that weâre not aware of.
Regardless of how the hornâs apparently magic, thereâs significance to why this horn is now reattached to King. In that episode, he learns that thereâs this new part of himself and his history that he wasnât aware of before. Because of that, he wants to TRY to connect to his roots, even though he doesnât know who or WHAT he is. Having his horn back is the first step in that journey, making him look more like what he EXPECTS his species to look like. Itâs a small thing, but it still does so much to represent Kingâs character and the journey heâs about to take.
As for Amity, her big change is a bit more significant. After finally wanting to be her own person, she decided to change her hair to help reflect that. Instead of a colder shade of green that makes Amity look like her mother, Amity had it dyed into a warmer shade of lavender. Even how Amity has her hair made up offers this more welcoming appearance as opposed to looking like a smaller Odalia. Whether Anity wears her hair long or short, it frames her face in a much friendlier manner, showing off how much she grew into a kinder person. When I often think of Amity, I think of the nicer young lady with adorable cotton candy hair, as opposed to the snarkier, more intense teen with a colder appearance. It actually breaks my brain a little when I rewatch earlier Season One episodes, because I donât associate that look with Amity anymore, let alone her behavior. It proves how much sheâs changed, inside and out, all while trying to be her own person instead of a carbon copy of someone worse. Sure, the change was a bit jarring and, admittedly, I missed the green hair upon the big reveal, but itâs a necessary change to make the fandomâs favorite white girl happy. Itâs not like everyone can have a more gradual change like the fandomâs favorite white boy.
Hunterâs interesting because heâs the only character in the show who has a different appearance in almost every episode. Whether itâs something subtle like a new emblem being added to his cape or something drastic likeâŚwhatever you could call his outfit in âLabyrinth Runners.â Either way, he never really sticks to the same style, and thatâs fine. His whole character is about discovering himself and who he wants to be instead of becoming the soldier and symbol Belos wanted. Itâs why, during the final season, he starts wearing messier, looser clothing that is an outcry to the more professional outfits he went for. And while he ends the series the most scarred heâs ever been, itâs a nice detail that it looks like Hunter is the happiest heâs ever lived through his smile, lack of eye bags, and more loose body movement. Itâs a mix of subtle and obvious details that showed how Hunter became a changed person despite all the hardships he went through. Itâs beautiful and heâs not the only character that goes through this kind of change.
When I saw what Lilith looked like in the past, and how the bright vibrancy clashed with Lilithâs cold presence in the present, I was hopeful that her road to redemption would be her trying to look more like her old self. And while her redemption was rushed in more ways than one, it is great that the art team did lean into the idea of Lilith slowly shedding her old design for a warmer, kinder one. She ditches a proper set of robes for some spare rags Eda had laying around, eventually gained a uniform when she found stability in her life, allowing her hair to curl once more while adding a pair of specs, and ends the series with her red hair fully returning. At the start, she looked like the most blatantly evil antagonist with how much darkness encompassed her design. By the time skip, she still wears those cold colors, but the short orange hair, the specs, and even how loose that outfit looks gives this sort of eccentric professor appearance. Sort of like sheâs Miss Frizzleâs cousin, but one that goes against dressing brightly and colorfully. It definitely fits the vibe Lilithâs current personality goes for, and it works. Itâs another case of a characterâs improved behavior reflecting in their appearance. However, sometimes the show can do well in the opposite direction by showing how WORSE a character has gotten.
Luz and Belos are the main instances of this. Luz was more brief, as she looked disheveled during âThanks to Them.â Her clothes were baggier, her smile is basically gone, and it looks like sheâs stopped caring about herself or her appearance. It perfectly shows us the mental and emotional state that Luz is in throughout the special, caused by her stress and guilt formed by Belosâ manipulation. Speaking of, through the final season, Belos gradually looks more monstrous and decayed as he continues his quest to kill all witches. It appropriately reveals how much of his true self started taking physical form and overshadowing the charismatic manipulator, all while his body melts and breaks apart to show that time is catching up with him every second. Itâs the best kind of visual representation of what Belos has become and this final season will be his final moments. Both him and Luz have perfect visual representation for how worse they got this season, even if Luzâs change was more temporary than Belosâ. But, even then, she spends the rest of the season dressed as her hero Azura, making her look like everything she wanted to be in the Boiling Isles as she gains determination to save it. So even though this season started with Luz at her worst, she still managed to evolve into becoming her best self while Belos continued to devolve into his worst self. Thereâs some hero/villain symbolism for ya.
The art and animation team work their hardest in making the show look as good as they possibly could, often aiding the equally great writing. Changing up the characters outfits and designs can say so much without needing the characters to say anything at all. Itâs the perfect cooperation of writing and animation that makes some of the best animated shows function so well. In this case, it offered a great attention to the story at play and made for great visuals at the same timeâŚThough, those same visuals arenât exactly PERFECTâŚ
Problem: The color scheme is a little off.
âThat seems subjective.â
Oh, itâs VERY subjective. Iâm not one who knows color theory or what some colors represent (Honestly, I find the whole thing nonsensical). Iâm a guy who goes off of gut feeling and thinking to myself âDo these assortment of colors look good?â And the colors in The Owl House donât look AWFUL, as thereâs never a point where I feel like the show is unwatchable. Iâve seen uglier looking works of fiction, all because the creator or director thought it might âimproveâ the film. Whether itâs to hide the obvious CGI or because the director wanted to match the âgrittinessâ of the real world, there have been clearer cases where artistic expression or intent tends to harm how a show looks. Even things I like, such as Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss, run into the problem where the red and black characters tend to blend too much in the red and black backgrounds. I get that weâre in Hell and the shows often look gorgeous otherwises, but holy hell this must be torture for people who are colorblind. But again, The Owl House never gets THAT bad, even though it matches a similar intent.
Dana Terrace wanted to make a magical world that isnât as pretty as your usual fare. Doing that means you have to avoid using bright and inviting colors, allowing viewers to appreciate the beauty in what others considered ugly. A nice sentiment, sure, and they donât completely use unappealing colors. For the most part, the orange, red, and browns of this world create this sort of Fall atmosphere, while the blues, greens, and also browns of certain creatures and characters look devilish and/or ghoulish. The intent is clear and itâs not a bad look at all, but thereâs something a little off going on.
I THINK itâs how the colors mix with the characters? Itâs hard to explain, but when I look at a character like Gus, who frequently wears his Hexside uniform, something is off. LikeâŚthe cold blues and blacks of his uniform clash with the warm hues around him. Or how something like Willowâs original casual outfit had colors that blended in the rest of the world. Or how Luzâs bright white and purple hoodie contrasts her dark jeans and leggings. I guess what Iâm getting at is that the colors of the characterâs outfits are the problem? They either clash or blend in, to my eyes, at least. Again, NOT a color theorist, Iâm probably just talking out of my ass here and going too much into detail about something thatâs basically a nitpick. The colors of The Owl House donât ruin the show for me, I still like the majority of how it looks. This is just a little thing that stops me, personally, from saying it looks perfect. Donât take it too seriously, this is, again, totally subjective. Itâd be the same as me complaining about the showâs comedy or musicâŚSpeaking of the music, though, I have NO complaints regarding that.
Praise: The Music is amazing.
Told ya.
And again, this is totally subjective. A showâs soundtrack is either going to strike a chord in you (ha) or not. And while The Owl House doesnât have an AMAZING score, itâs still one that often fills me with delight no matter what episode Iâm watching. Composers TJ Hill and Brad Breeck do a great job in giving The Owl House its own sound. Thereâs themes that can fit a certain character, like with how The Collector has this very bouncy yet very off-putting base whenever theyâre doing wacky nonsense. There are also motifs that suit a relationship, like how Luz and Amity had this little tune that got warmer and gentler as the two got closer to becoming an pair. And, there are cases where there are songs that play just for a certain episode or theme, like that beat that played during âEchoes of the Pastâ when Jean-Luc was on screen. Thereâs a lot of effort put into the music of the series like there is in a lot of the show, and itâs often pleasant to the ears like how the visuals are pleasant to the eyes. Thereâs a total of ONE case where the score got a little lazy and thatâs when they played the same track for when Lumity became canon during the scene where Gus introduces Cosmic Frontier to Hunter. Thatâs a very specific score that never got used again, and works well for the FIRST scene itâs used in. To reuse it for such a minimal moment is baffling, but itâs at least the ONLY time the composers did it. In a lot of other cases, they go hard with the instrumentals, with TJ Hillâs theme for the show being a pretty good listen. Wouldnât rank it among some of the best theme songs for cartoons, but definitely better than most.
The closest I can find to a problem with the showâs music, outside of the one weird reuse of a specific track, is that it almost sounds TOO similar to Gravity Falls. Like, if you were to play a few notes from the background, half the time, itâs gonna take me a minute to figure out if itâs from The Owl House or Gravity Falls. I can let it go, of course, because both shows share a composer and The Owl House has a bit more of aâŚmagical feeling to its sound, I guess. You know it when you listen closely, and it helps give The Owl House more of that unique feelingâŚBut since I brought up similarities, thereâs more to notice than just the music.
Problem: The show feelsâŚsimilar to other modern cartoons.
Though, to be fair, almost every huge show since Adventure Time and Gravity Falls feels similar. Thereâs definitely been a trend where modern animation tends to start as comedic and mostly episodic, becomes gradually serious over time, starts telling a more cohesive story arc, and shocking twists that even surprise a few adults a lot of the time. Itâs a trend tiring for some while exciting to most, with The Owl House being one of the better examples of this pattern done RIGHT. I have no problems with what the show wants to be, but I canât help but notice instances where it does something similar to other shows that came out. Dana Terrace and her writers have put their own spin on ideas, but donât stop these feelings like how The Collectorâs playtime is a chiller Weirdmageddon, or how the final season is a repackaged version of Amphibiaâs. I already went over that ladder two parts ago, so Iâm not going to repeat myself here. As for the former, Iâm not going to dwell on it because more than enough people did when âFor the Futureâ started. The Collector is NOTHING like Bill Cipher, so they both go about causing chaos in different ways, with The Collectorâs actions being unintentionally messed up while Bill fully knows what heâs doing and loves it anyway. The differences lead to two apocalyptic scenarios that are unique in their own right. Still, the similarities ARE there and are fairly noticeable.
I donât like giving problems like that attention, though. Itâs a nitpick at best and itâs always people using surface level similarities just to make a nonsensical argument about how nothing is original anymore. As someone who believes that originality is a myth and that itâs near impossible for people to make something wholly original, I find it pointless to point out how similarities are a problem, especially if whatâs being made is still good.
âThen why bring it up at all?â
WellâŚbecause it does stop The Owl House from standing out, just a little bit. If you offer a story thatâs too similar to others, you need to offer some differences that make it more appealing. To make it STAND OUT more from the crowd of great cartoons that tell their own great stories. Otherwise, why bother watching a show when thereâs another version of it thatâs just the same, if not better? And sure, whether something is better or not is purely subjective. I personally enjoy something like The Owl House more than Amphibia, and Iâm sure Iâm not the only one who thinks that. But thereâs also people who disagree with that and treat Amphibia as untouchable where itâs The Owl House thatâs flawed. Trying to be better isnât a big enough difference because not everyone is going to believe your story stands higher than others. But keep in mind, that doesnât stop the show from being GOOD. Even if there are some familiarities with other things, youâll still have a good time with what you watch. But think of it like this: There are dozens of sitcoms out there, each of them following a certain formula or character dynamics. Yet the ones people remember the most arenât just the funniest but the things they did differently. Boy Meets World sort of grew up with its audience by having its main character grow up, going from simple plots of Corey painting his neighborâs fence for a super soaker to him defending the right to punch a guy who sexually assaulted his girlfriend. Malcolm in the Middle forgoes having a simple, caring family household for a messy family of a-holes that are often at odds with each other but still look out for one another, even if it causes chaos for themselves and others. And The Office, instead of having people go through extreme and almost cartoonish situations, has real types of people living out realistic scenarios and laughing at how stupid and secondhand embarrassing they can beâŚAt least at first. Things get a little bit off the rails later on in the series. Regardless, shows tend to stand out in pop culture due to the differences they presented, not just the quality. The same applies for cartoons like The Owl House, which has a similar vibe to other shows, not just ones produced by Disney. Now, it has differences that make it stand out ENOUGH, but I canât really blame people for thinking that the series is a little similar to others. I only draw the line when people treat it as an actual detriment when, again, itâs nothing more than a minor nitpick. YOU might not think it stands out, but thereâs an entire fandom that says otherwise. And to keep things fair, letâs go over a few differences to prove how well the show stands out.
Praise: The look of the world is great
I said it in the colors section, but Dana Terrace didnât want a PRETTY magical world. She wanted something a little spooky and demonic, taking art inspiration from paintings by Heironymous Bosch. And while things never get to that level of intensity, let it be known that The Owl House tries to match the same level of weirdness. Or, at least, try as much as Disney would allow. Because if youâve seen Danaâs non Owl House art on her socials, you can see for yourself how much she was restrained by making something family friendly. Hell, by the time Iâm posting this, the teaser for her next big show came out and it definitely looks like Dana Terrace unfiltered. But no matter the limitations, the final result makes for a pretty unique world. By the second episode alone, the show reveals that everything takes place upon the corpse of a Titan. Thatâs already an awesome idea that Iâve never heard of before and things just get crazier as we see the many demons, witches, and creatures that exist in this world. You have obvious reimaginings of classic beasts and monsters in mythology, with the series putting their own spin on both the designs and what they can do, making these creatures fit with the mythology that the writers are trying to make for this series. As for the NEW creatures that exist solely in this series, thereâs not a LOT of ideas that the show puts a lot of emphasis on aside from slitherbeasts and thoseâŚweird butterflies, but thereâs still a good amount of random one-off monsters, both friendly and menacing, that have a good amount of creativity that puts into how they look. Even that tentacle monster Luz said good morning to in âWitches Before Wizardsâ has a lot more effort put into its design despite showing up once for the entire series. In fact, that brings up another positive in the look of this world: Thereâs a lot of effort in making EVERYONE look unique. Every single character and demon that Luz interacts with has a different design to them, with it being rare for the show to reuse character models to fill out a crowd. Now, most of them donât have a consistent VOICE, but at least the animators and artists did good in making the people of the Boiling Isles look as weird as possible. None of them really look horrifying, but that might help the series more than you think.
The whole point of The Owl House is finding beauty in the bizarre. To accomplish that, you need to create a world thatâs weird but not horrific. Make the people odd but not creepy. Have the creatures look dangerous but not horrendous. Basically, itâs all about finding that balance of looking off-putting to any normal person but never to the extent that it isn't something you canât get used to. The show applies this to characters and the backgrounds, creating a world thatâs odd everywhere you look but in a way thatâs almost inviting. The Boiling Isles isnât a place that the main character would want to escape from, but wishes to stay in because of how âat-homeâ she feels. Itâs handled well in every episode, giving the series a look that allows it to stand out on its own just well enoughâŚI just wish we could have seen MORE of this world.
Problem: The world feels small.
I said this before when talking about the arcs, but The Owl House doesnât really have that expansive of a magical world. Granted, itâs a character driven series, it doesnât NEED to have a GRAND landscape filled with adventure, it needs a place that the characters can interact and hang out in. Itâs totally fine to tell small-scale stories in a small, contained area. Thereâs just two problems with that: For one, Dana Terrace clearly wanted a larger narrative near the end of Season Two, and doing so led to realizing how little weâve seen of the Isles. More than that, it makes a fan like me realize I simply donât care about the rest of the Isles. I care about the primary characters and I donât want anyone to die, but I also realized that I donât have the same strong connection to the Isles that Luz does because I havenât much of it.
As for problem number two, it feels like a waste to limit such an interesting realm. Everything is either near or in Bonesborough, while occasionally moving through forests during SOME adventures. Thereâs an entire ISLAND to explore and we mostly stay in one area. Whatâs crazy is that, after Season One wrapped up, Dana Terrace did a Q&A where she promised that Season Two would have more island exploration. And all we really did was see a new city and a FEW islands that were only made for one-off adventures. Granted, I think she promised this BEFORE being told that the show would get cut down, and itâs possible that plans had to change at the last minute, but it doesnât change how the Isles feel smaller than they are. And with how interesting this world looks, itâs a shame we only get to see it in a microscope view instead of seeing it expanded. The story isnât RUINED by this, itâs just a missed opportunity caused by spending most of Season One in the same five places and having no time to explore more. Fortunately, the showâs good at a lot of other things regardless of limitations.
Praise: They made something OUTSTANDING despite restrictions
And there are more than just THE BIG ONE. Iâll admit that The Owl House is one of the few shows that adjusted well to a forced cancellation, knowing exactly what to keep in the original plan, how to combine one plotline with another, and come up with an epic, satisfying ending even though it wasnât the ending the writers originally planned. In all regards, The Owl House managed to soar past expectations and still make some really great episodes and specials when, for other shows, getting a shortened series may as well have been a death sentence (Just look at what happened to Danny Phantom). But as much as the show deserves this kind of praise, itâs also worth mentioning that a shortened series is NOT the only restriction the writers had to deal with. They also managed to surpass expectations when you remember EXACTLY what The Owl House is.
The Owl House, first and foremost, is a childrenâs cartoon on the Disney Channel. Because of that, there are ideas and elements that the writers and artists canât go all the way with because Disney still wants to appeal to that family-friendly crowd. So when the show gets away with something that you wouldnât expect, it makes you appreciate it all the more. Sometimes itâs getting incredibly dark, both in the story and itâs humor, and other times itâs as simple as showing two girls in love. This is a REALLY LGBTQIA+ friendly series produced by DISNEY, and thatâs somehow more surprising than ninety percent of what happens in âHollow Mind.â And thatâs an episode filled with death, torture, and destruction, so that says a lot, really.
The Owl House, much like Gravity Falls and Amphibia, really tries to push the envelope of whatâs okay for kids or not. To me, though, it feels like it managed to push things further, mainly because cartoons of the past really helped in pushing boundaries too but also because of how deeply it managed to strike a chord in me. Like, I was an ADULT by the time the first episode premiered. I was NOT in this showâs age range and yet I managed to be both impressed and invested with every episode and what it managed to do. And keep in mind, thatâs not an easy task to accomplish. As I get older and older, the more I realize that cartoons meant for children arenât meant for ME (Shocking, I know). Themes are fairly simple, stories are becoming predictable, and the humorâs definitely more for younger audiences and not just ME. So if a series made for children still manages to get strong reactions out of a schmuck my age, itâs clearly doing something right. That effect isnât going to be the same for everyone, but I personally see it as the show doing something incredible. Dana Terrace wanted to tell a GREAT story with wonderful characters, all with themes and imagery that certainly challenge younger minds, and created JUST thatâŚThough, the story itself isnât exactly PERFECT.
Problem: There are noticeable retcons caused by the writers wanting to go in a different direction.
This isnât new for ANY show, let alone serialized cartoons. Adventure Time basically improvised its lore and backstories on the spot, and every reveal and change is almost perfect with only the SLIGHTEST retcons to make it coherent. And donât even get me STARTED on the things comics have done. Did you know that Alfred wasnât Bruce Wayneâs family butler? He was just some wannabe detective that actively chose to work for Batman and Robin.
The point is that I get WHY retcons happen. Large or small, subtle or blunt, itâs all because the writers decide they want to tell the story differently and try to change things around so it can fit with everything else theyâve already written. At its best, you barely care that it happens. At its worst, itâs blatantly obvious and you can tell that the writers decided at the last minute that they didnât like the direction they were going in. And The Owl HouseâŚis right between that.
Keep in mind, the changes the show made is almost never towards the story. The narrative is often kept intact regardless of forced shortenings and censorship. The only times the writers decided to make any changes was towards antagonistic characters that the writers wanted to be redeemable. Amity, Ed and Em, Alador, and The Collector are VERY MUCH different characters from how they were introduced and how the writers decided they SHOULD be written soon after. Amity is definitely the best written out of this lineup, as the writers already knew that she had to be redeemed sooner than later and laid out a plan to make it work. However, the plan kind of falls apart when they reveal Amity feels regret for being mean to Willow only to show no form of regret at all in âI Was A Teenage Abomination.â I went over that scene enough, but it still shows how flawed The Owl House is in changing course when it comes to these characters.
Even with changes that I like, it comes across as something more sudden instead of an idea they had from the start. If Edric and Emira were meant to be Amityâs support system, then why would they do something so heinous as leak her diary onto the internet? Thatâs not tough love, thatâs reprehensible. And if The Collector was just a child who didnât understand how dangerous they were, then why make him act so malicious in their introduction. Yes, it was in a memory and you could argue this is how Belos remembered the scene, but everything else was exact so why would JUST The Collector act differently? These are very clear cases of the show wanting to do something different but only AFTER they were too far into production with certain episodes and soon decided to change course when we see them next. I at least LIKE these changes, I prefer them, but there is ONE case where this type of decision making did NOT work out in everyoneâs favor.
Yeah, letâs go ahead and beat the dead horse that is Aladorâs redemption again. I originally said that Iâm not TOO bothered by this. I get the intent and, to Danaâs credit, she DID state beforehand that Alador is more complicated than fans might think. So I get that redeeming Alador was always part of the plan, but given the strong negative reactions this decision had, especially from fans who have had BAD experiences with parents like him, itâs clear that the writers didnât plan far ahead enough. You can defend this decision all you want. IâVE definitely tried. But thereâs no escaping the fact that showing us Alador acting just as bad as Odalia only to LATER say heâs not is a bold and flawed choice that feels worse the more you think about it.Â
Who knows why these particular changes were made to these characters after introducing us to them. Maybe itâs a decision of the writers that they didnât think through or maybe itâs Disney influencing how some characters are written. One thingâs for sure, I donât want to use the âThere wasnât enough timeâ excuse for this one. These were sudden retcons that werenât properly done when it came to changing these characters. At the end of the day, I still PREFER these changes but I would have loved it if they were better eased into the series. Especially since the show IS good at taking its time for other things.
Praise: The writers waste no time giving fans exactly what they want in a timely manner.
Do you want answers to your fan theories? Do you want to see if a ship you love becomes canon? Do you want one narrative to be continued instead of pushed to the side to the point where itâs basically forgotten? Well, good news! The Owl House gives you pretty much what you want to see and you donât have to wait that long to get it!
It always amazes me with how little time is wasted in The Owl House. Almost every episode has SOMETHING going on with it, whether itâs a story thread being continued, a relationship being developed, or a character you love making another appearance. The series is often good at delivering what the majority of fans want and doing so without really having that much input to work with. The first season and a half of The Owl House was being developed before any of the cast or crew were aware of how big of a fanbase theyâd get and were already on their way in making fans satisfied. I mean, there were already Lumity fans hyper fixating on the ship LONG before âEnchanted Grom Frightâ confirmed that they WILL become canon at some point. And even then, the writers still planned to feed the fans well by making it canon halfway through Season Two, potentially hoping to have more episodes in the series dedicated to these two nerds being in love. They planned something this special, not knowing how popular a ship Lumity would be. Just like how they planned to give Hunter a lot of attention without knowing heâd be a fan favorite character or make Steve the most lovable coven guard without expecting fans to love a SINGLE interaction he had with Lilith. Iâm sure Dana Terrace and her writers went in hoping to make every character, relationship, and story excellent, but when youâre making something, you can never be too sure what fans are going to gravitate more to. So the fact that they managed to hit a bullseye over what the majority wanted is VERY impressive. Now, not EVERY fan is satisfied. There are some underrated concepts, characters, and relationships that some fans wished would have gotten more attention, both in the show and the fandom. I can certainly understand that, but I can also argue that it's more of you wanting more from The Owl House instead of appreciating what it already gave you. And yes, I know I just complained about not seeing more of the world not that long ago, but thereâs a difference between wishing to see the creator of this insane world create more insane thingsâŚand wanting an episode dedicated to Emira Blight. Yeah, Iâd like that too, but sometimes you need to judge what the creator and their writers gave you and not so much what YOU wanted.
When I say that The Owl House gave fans what they wanted, Iâm almost always talking about the vast majority, and they certainly seem pleased enough. Especially with how they didnât have to wait long to get what they wanted. Thereâs a total of TWO episodes that Iâd consider filler because of how little they offered, both for the series and fans (You probably know which ones). The rest of the time, the show is perfect at delivering what it needs to, and itâs almost always at the right time in the series. Things are constantly moving forward, and it sometimes leads to a small complaint about how the show is badly paced. For me, though, I always describe the series as differently paced. Weâre so used to shows that take their time building up to a ship becoming canon, carefully integrating characters into the main cast, or slowly writing out this big arc that when something like The Owl House practically speedruns the whole process, it causes this idea that its pacing must be off. Except that I never really think that it is, as almost every interaction these characters have often feels like a natural progression as youâre watching these people improve themselves and the relationships they have around them. Or the way theyâre running out of time to solve these BIG problems leads to feeling the intensity of the situation as thereâs not much room for error left for them. It creates a new experience compared to other shows and it makes sense why The Owl House in particular wastes no time. Some say that the writing was on the wall that the show wasnât going to get that third season, I sayâŚthat Dana Terrace knows how things work with televised animation at Disney. The average lifespan of a Disney cartoon is three seasons. Very rarely does anything get four and itâs even RARER to get up to five. Not everything can be like Big City Greens where itâs basically The Simpsons but for kids. And keep in mind, this is a problem BEFORE streaming made things ten times worse for televised animation. Disney does NOT play the long game when it comes to their shows, with it often being inconsistent with what lasts long and what doesnât. Dana likely expected her show wouldnât get much time so she planned accordingly, getting to those big moments for the characters and story as quickly as possible without it feeling TOO quick. For the most part, I still say that the final result is handled well, giving fans exactly what they want with little to no fluff or fillerâŚHowever, there are SOME cases where I canât help but admitâ
Problem: The series clearly needed another season.Â
Stop me if you heard this before: This aspect of The Owl House would have worked betterâ
â--if the show had enough time.â
Yeah, you get it by now. EVERYONE gets it by now. Itâs the main criticism thrown around a lot, being applicable to a good amount of the showâs problems. Not EVERY issue, mind you, as Lilithâs redemption in particular is still all kinds of rushed BEFORE the writers were told they only have a season and three specials to wrap up the series. Regardless, The Owl House is a series that is BURSTING with potential with dozens of characters, story concepts, and themes, only to be restricted with how much they can cover. And oftentimes, the end result is still GOOD. I almost never feel like thereâs an aspect of the show that was handled poorly with the time that the writers were given. Yet, as good as everything is, I canât help but often feel like it could have been handled better. Luzâs conflict about choosing the Isles or the Human Realm, Willow and Amityâs friendship, and Raineâs rebellion are just SOME of the things that would benefit with a longer series. And the thing is that Iâm not blaming the WRITERS for most of this. They were given a bad hand and tried to deal with it in the best way they could. I still stand by that what they made is AMAZING regardless of how little time they had, even if itâs clear that some ideas had to be cut out entirely or get rushed to an adequate conclusion. It isnât perfect, but our favorite media rarely is.
Still, I wonât say this fixes EVERY problem in the show. An extra season would have benefited in giving more characters and narratives focus, allowing the writers to further explore these ideas they had better, but not necessarily helping the OTHER problems in the series, especially ones Iâve mentioned before in this part alone. Having more time just allows the writers more of a chance to let the series BREATHE and fully expand on what was necessary. As is, The Owl House will forever be one of the most popular cases, to me, where a show reaching perfection got held back by a network limiting how much they could have done. Itâs not the first, it likely wonât be the last, unfortunately, but itâs still one that comes to my mind frequently. And a part of me canât help but wonder what could have been if the series was allowed to go on longer. As well as make assumptions as to why it wasnât, because so far the best bet is that it has to do with the NEXT praise I have with the series.
Praise: It has GREAT diversity.
Before you say the shortening ISNâT because of diversity, Disney is currently trying to scrub out any sense of transgender storyline out of its popular programming and seems a bit too keen to end shows early that continues to diversify casts and normalize certain aspects in society. So donât F**KING tell me that thereâs not any other reason The Owl House suddenly didnât fit the brand, when the higher ups are making it clear that they want the brownie points for being inclusive but donât want to go too far to scare off their conservative audiences! Well, guess what! THEYâRE not getting the brownie points, Dana Terrace and the writers areâŚAnd they really do deserve it.
The Owl House has a pretty colorful cast, to say the least, with the majority of the primary characters being people of color with only a handful of white people thrown in. And pretty much all of them are on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, highlighting and normalizing different sexualities, genders, and gender norms with the show explicitly stating it, implying it, or having the cast and crew come in to confirm or deny certain headcanons. I know we should take Hunter and Willow being bi and pan with a grain of salt because DANA confirmed it instead of putting it in the showâŚbut is it really going to stop anyone? I think when your show has two thirds of your main trio be confirmed bisexuals, I say itâs perfectly fine to believe that anyone in the show can at least be a LITTLE gay, confirmation be damned. The show is very LGBTQIA+ friendly, like I said earlier, with several characters that many people can see themselves in. Though, some viewers to have notes about howâŚperfectly accepted races and sexualities are, as thatâs not exactly realistic or it ignores the experience that many people tend to go through. To that I sayâŚvalid, but I get why itâs not exactly handled here.
Dana Terrace has gone on record that she wanted to create a world without any REAL discrimination for the sake of escapism. Kids likely get too much of that crap enough, and this is a way to appreciate watching characters who look like them, act like them, and seeing it without being reminded of what the real worldâs like. The Owl House is a series to help children feel seen without reminding them of the stress they have to go through. Would it be a BOLD choice to talk about the homophobia and racism in the Human Realm and the culture shock Luz faces when she realizes that doesnât exist in The Boiling Isles? Absolutely. But I do feel like, because The Owl House is a kidsâ show, you gotta keep the kids happy. Doing that means showing them that who they are is NORMAL and they shouldnât feel shame for it. I donât hold it against the series to do things like make Camila accept Luzâs sexuality, I just think it's beautiful that this series is telling kids they can and WILL be accepted by the right people. Unfortunately, thatâs not going to be the case for everyone, but I still say itâs good to tell kids that thereâs nothing wrong with who they are.
Another benefit is that because The Owl House is a kids show, it teaches kids, specifically white and/or straight kids, that thereâs nothing wrong with ANYTHING The Owl House presents. The color of a personâs skin does not stop you from seeing yourself in them. That personâs sexuality also doesnât stop them from being nice or welcoming. Gender? It doesnât matter because this show goes out of its way to prove genderâs a social construct, if anything else. A girl can dress up as a boy, a man can dress up more flamboyantly, and some characters can just say âscrew two gendersâ altogether and be non-binary. Heck, one of the short-term antagonists has He/They pronouns, that the characters inexplicably respect despite not knowing The Collector has he/they pronouns, proving that no matter what a person is like, you should still acknowledge what labels they go by. And thatâs GREAT! Normalization educates kids who ARENâT part of these races or sexualities that they should be ACCEPTING of it. Itâs okay if two girls want to kiss, itâs okay for two men of different races to raise a daughter, and itâs okay for a Black kid to be one of the highest performing kids in his grade. Even if SOME parents get so mad at these ideas that they break their childâs TV and Funko pop collection (That happened, by the way. Itâs a core memory I have when seeing this show trend on Twitter once).
The Owl House doesnât NAIL the full experience of all these groups, but thatâs not entirely a HUGE detriment to the series. A kid is going to see Lumity become canon for the first time and feel happy to know that theyâre not alone in this world. Theyâre going to see great characters like Raine and see that itâs good to look and be a certain way. Itâs less about educating kids about the culture of lives these types of people might have, but itâs perfect in teaching children that thereâs nothing wrong with being a certain way. I feel like the writers deserve SOME type of credit for what they wanted to do, because that in of itself is ADMIRABLEâŚBut admittedly, there is ONE note that canât be denied.
Problem: It puts a LOT more importance on the WHITE characters.
You remember that handful of white characters I mentioned earlier? Well, they seem to be the writersâ favorites with how often they get more attention than the POCs.
âBut the main protagonist is an Afro-Latina!â
That she isâŚbut how much do we know about Luzâs history and family compared to Edaâs? Or compared to Amityâs? Hell, you could argue that we know more about BELOS than Luz. We learn it through portraits in the background of his mind, but we still learn.
âSo, what? You think that the writers are RACISTS?!â
I did not say that. I never said that. NO ONE who brings up this criticism has ever said that. The writers arenât racists for putting a lot more attention on their whiter characters as opposed to the NON white ones. The non-white characters are still well-written and highly regarded in the fandom, with some having more popularity than most of the white characters. In fact, I think I see more fan art of Skara than I do of Viney, despite both having very little presence in the series. The writers did good at making us love the characters who are POC and wrote them to be endearing to anyone regardless of race. Thereâs just this imbalance between them and the white characters, and it gets more noticeable in Season Two when the fandomâs favorite white boy gets a prominent role in SIX episodes while his half-Korean girlfriend is forced to share one with him. And share HALF a role with her white best friend. And keep in mind, IâŚwouldnât willingly trade away Hunterâs screen time. I love Hunter, and so does the majority of the fandom. INCLUDING the POC fans, who donât like it when white critics talk FOR them in saying that only racists can like Hunter. Iâve seen it. But as much as I love Hunter and his story, I would ALSO love it if Willow got just as much attention in the show as he did.
âWell, maybe if the show had more timeââ
Donât do it. Donât even try it. Alright? Because I told you, the extra season would have fixed a lot of problems but not ALL of them. This imbalance started becoming more of an issue as early as the FIRST half of Season Two, a portion of the series already written before the writers were told that the show would get cut down. In that first half, fans were already pointing out how little screen time characters like Willow and Gus were getting despite being in a close, chaotic friendship with Luz. The first season started with them being major characters, and now it felt like they were being written out of the plot. In an episode where Luz, Gus, and Willow are ALL expelled, itâs mostly about the family drama Amity has with her parents while Willow and Gus do nothing to save Luz so AMITY can look the most badass and Luz gets a crush on her. In an episode where Luz is too sick to go on an adventure, AMITY gets to go and help reform HUNTER, while Willow and Gus have to stay behind and look after Luz. And even then, they donât do anything. They just sit there listening to whale songs with Hooty as they remain ignorant to a crisis. Plus, while Gus may have HALF an episode to himself, heâs playing second fiddle to Lumity getting closer to canonicity. Meanwhile, Willow got squat, despite being the third person Luz met in the Isles that became an important part of her life and having a ton more prevalence in the previous season. I first dismissed it as maybe itâs because Willowâs arc of finding confidence came to a complete end in Season One, so maybe they didnât know what else to do with herâŚbut looking back, thatâs a pretty flimsy excuse. A completed arc doesnât mean a show should just STOP using that same character. You just need to find more uses for them other than being someone defined by their relationships.
âWell, what if people thought Willow was boring?â
I meanâŚFair? Kind of? Not everyoneâs going to like the same characters and if one isnât your cup of tea then youâre not really going to miss seeing them, regardless of what race they are. I remember seeing Schaffrillasâ review of the first half of Season Two, and he definitely didnât shed a tear to there being not much Willow content because he found Willow so boring. However, just because itâs not YOUR favorite character, that doesnât mean itâs NO ONEâS favorite. And after just going over how important it was that this series makes kids of any race feel seen in this dumpster fire we call a planet, it still feels unfair that those same characters are often pushed to the side so that the whiter ones can take more attention. The cast, crew, and FANS pride themselves on how good the representation is, but as good as things are, the imbalance is what makes it imperfect.
WOOFâŚThat was heavy. Maybe we should move onto a lighter topic?
Praise: Its drama is SUPER compelling.
I said LIGHTâAw, screw it, this is good to talk about.
As I mentioned earlier, I am a grown-ass adult man. So the fact that this show made for literal children managed to get me so invested in its drama is a TESTAMENT to how good it is. When a character cries, IâM almost moved to tears. When someoneâs in danger, I feel nervous for them. When the main character is dying before my eyes, Iâm screaming like The Punisher as heâs strapped to the chair while begging for these masked men to not kill his family! That is NOT an exaggeration, I still remember the trauma and itâs the main reason I donât willingly rewatch âWatching and Dreamingâ most of the time. And no, thatâs not a joke either, itâsâŚitâs a heavy scene from a heavy episodeâŚ
But thatâs my point. This show often leaves me an emotional wreck in a way thatâs on the level with a few shows that are meant for adults. Again, THE SHOW FOR CHILDREN is making me feel the strong emotions that I would for any adult series. Not all of them, mind you, and itâs entirely possible that not everyone would feel this wayâŚBut you want to know WHY it works so well for ME? The same reason why everything else works in The Owl House: The characters.
Thatâs more than just a fourteen year old biting the dust, thatâs my FAVORITE CHARACTER. Hell, sheâs probably one of my favorite characters in all of fiction, one I was endeared with through forty plus episodes of her wacky hijinks and lovable antics. So when she goes through something heavy like the cold embrace of DEATH, Iâm naturally going to feel worried and sad over her going through it. And thatâs just the SERIES FINALE! All the way back in Season One, my heart cracked in half at the end of âAgony of a Witchâ when Luz collapsed and started crying her eyes out over Eda being gone. I love this character, I love the relationships she has, and I love the characters IN those relationships. And itâs a good thing I do, because otherwise the drama would not have hit as well if these characters werenât likable.
Even the personalities of the cast often helps aid the drama. If a happy and optimistic character like Luz is starting to feel doom and gloom, you KNOW things are starting to get dark. And if the usually confident Eda is bursting into tears because sheâs feeling the pressure of being unable to protect her kids, then that just proves how bad things really got. Itâs not only proof of how good the characters are, but how genuinely good the writing is. These writers arenât messing around, making something adults can appreciate but never really going TOO intense for kidsâŚmost of the time. âHollow Mindâ is STILL very messed up.
And itâs good that the drama is so well-done because the comedyâŚsure isnât.
Problem: Its comedy is often hit or miss
Iâve said it once, Iâve said it again, and I might say it once more in the future. But The Owl HouseâŚjust isnât that funny to me. Not always.
When the jokes hit, theyâre hilarious. My mind always goes to âThe choosey hatâ bit or HootyâsâŚgeneral Hootyness when I think of what makes me crack up with this series. When itâs good, itâs great. When itâs notâŚitâs like a C-Grade MCU movie.
*Dodges gunshot*
More specifically, itâs sometimes what the internet THINKS a C-Grade MCU movie is like.
*Dodges several gunshots*
Yeah, hate me all you want, it really does feel like that at times. Not ALWAYS, but often. Thereâs just a lot of moments that a joke feels forced in because we gotta make the kiddos laugh between all this magic and adventure, and itâs awkward every time. Gus noting how Luz must run fast because humans have dorsal fins is on level with that glob thing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania wishing he had holes. Or how Luz, after making this big hero speech being met with nothing, says, âNot the response I was expectingâŚâ Thatâs on the same level of someone going, âWell, that just happened.â Itâs pretty much the showâs humor at its worst, and it often makes me roll my eyes instead of smile.
âWell, maybe your first mistake was expecting a kids show to make you laugh.â
Okay, fair point. I DID just say that these are basically jokes to make kids in the audience laugh, so maybe itâs just a thing where Iâm too mature for these jokesâŚCounterpoint: Hilarity knows no age. Because Gravity Falls, a show meant for the same age range as The Owl House, still makes me laugh as an adult, just as much as it would when I was a kid. And if you wanna go further than that, an episode of Bluey, a show for MUCH younger audiences, manages to crack me up far more easily than The Owl House ever has. Being a kids show isnât what holds back The Owl Houseâs humor. Itâs justâŚnot that funny. Not to me. If it is for you, more power to ya. But for me, I feel like the reason why it didnât work so well is because Dana Terrace didnât put too much of a priority on humor. There was more attention put on the characters, themes, and eventually telling darker narratives that the show being FUNNY became something they didnât worry too much about. Everything else seemed to have come first, with jokes being on the bottom of the list. There were some great laughs to have, and a few cute chuckles sprinkled in, but most of the time, itâs just not that uproarious.
And thatâs itâŚThatâs the last thing I have to say about The Owl HouseâŚAnd itâs a nitpick thatâs more subjective, if anything elseâŚThatâs not fair. After spending six parts and about three years talking about why I love this series, itâs unfair to end it with âThe showâs not funny.â
So, instead, lets end it by finally answering this big olâ question thatâs at the beginning of every post: Why do I love The Owl House? Really, why is it THIS SHOW thatâs stuck with me for so long and one that Iâve obsessed over for about five years now? Itâs not really the best animated series ever made. Itâs not even the best made within the last five years (Have you SEEN Arcane?!). So why is it that itâs The Owl House the show I obsess over? The show that Iâve written fan-fics, analysis posts, and entire reviews to show my appreciation for it? The show that Iâve dedicated FIVE YEARS of my life hyping up as one of the biggest things of the decade? Well, to put it bluntlyâŚIt just is.
Thatâs not a BIG answer, I know, but itâs the truth. The Owl House is something that I love because it did all the right things in all the right ways at the exact right time. And it did it for me and MANY other fans who came together and voiced their LOVE for this wacky series produced by the company everyone hates. Itâs not perfect, NO show is, but the imperfections never really mattered. They exist and I canât blame people for feeling the need to point them out, but that doesnât stop me from enjoying the series. NOTHING can stop me from enjoying the series. Dana Terrace would have to come out as a transmisogynistic Nazi who loves the tears of puppies for me to turn away from this series, and even thenâŚit wonât be an easy thing to do.
The Owl House is exactly why Iâm here right now. Iâve gained friendships, followers, and had expressed my creativity because of this show. A show I NEVER expected to like and who KNOWS what would have happened if I decided to NOT watch that first episode late one night during college. For all Iâm concerned, I might have become theâŚLily Orchard to the Amphibia fandom or somethingâŚ*Shudders*
Will The Owl House stand the test of time and be fondly remembered in the animation hall of fame? To be honestâŚnot sure. Not a future seer. But will it stand the test of time in my heart? Most definitely. Because I may forget some shows and I might forget some aspects of this series like who was the voice of Luz or certain fan-made projects that got drowned out over the years (Remember the âLittle Miss Perfectâ Animatic?). However, I sincerely doubt, in the deepest part of my soul, that Iâll forget moments like THESE:
The Owl House is FAR from a perfect show. I know thatâs true. But to me, no matter what people say, no matter how much better shows will come outâŚitâll always FEEL perfect to me.
Thanks again to Dana Terrace and her crew for doing more than changing my life. You changed it for the better, and Iâll always be grateful for thatâŚ

As someone who has been in the EAH and Descendants fandoms, here's my perspective:
Point 1) Descendants didn't get EAH cancelled.
Yes, it kinda did. Eah media is a doll ad first and compelling story second. Descendants gets to be a story first and a doll ad second. Mattel (owners of the eah franchise) at the time of the Eah cancellation and the Descendants (2016 and 2015 respectively) the general public was growing more and more conscious of unrealistic beauty standards for women and had a growing resentment towards stereotypically feminine things (like dolls). This was obviously very bad news for a doll ad. On top of this, Eah's much more successful sister franchise, MH, was dropping in sales, leading Mattel to eventually reboot the series and resetting the lore (making Eah even less relevant). Finally, Mattel had the license from Disney to make Disney Princess dolls. During 2015, Mattel was obviously more focused on Barbie and MH than Disney dolls. This led to Disney not renewing Mattel's license and giving it to Hasbro. This, along with MH losing value, made Mattel lose a LOT of money. EAH, at this point, was on life support, but ultimately, the final nail in the Eah glass coffin was (in my opinion) the launch of Descendants. All of EAH's very small market share was very quickly taken up by Disney. When Disney had Hasbro make Descendants dolls, it was all over for EAH, resulting in its cancellation. Descendants didn't kill EAH but it was the final nail in the coffin.
Point 2) The Descendants movies are good.
Very subjective, I'm not going to say you're wrong for liking or not liking any piece of media, but I am ultimately writing an argument in favour of EAH. I will try to be as unbiased as possible, but I'm sure my biases will be made very apparent.
The original 3 Descendants movies were very good at introducing compelling themes, ideas, and characters, but they never could quite stick the landing and make a satisfying conclusion to anything they introduced. Off the top of my head, here are the most obvious examples in semi chronological order:
The Isle of the Lost:
Really cool fucked up dystopian idea! I loved the franchise focusing on villain kids who had done nothing wrong being imprisoned for life. However, the decision to bring down the barrier felt like it came out of nowhere as most of D3 was about Mal having to deal with actually figuring out how to rule and learning her actions had consequences and than the ending was "actually no the Isle is too fucked to keep" I agree with this but I do feel like they should have had SOME plan for if the hundreds potentially thousands of people imprisoned for 20 years decided they needed revenge.
Mal using magic to "fix" girls appearances:
Extremely cool! I love her being a fucked up fairy godmother in an attempt to get close to actual fairy godmother but the ending of the subplot being Jane is so insecure that she steals the wand felt like and empty twist. Also, Mal's apology felt very empty.
Mal spelling Ben into loving her:
Let me preface this with saying I love my boy Benjamin. Love this plot. The first date was sweat, yet it filled me with dread on first watch because I was sure Ben would at least be somewhat upset with her. Then the carriage scene! Him just casually saying he knew! The look on her face! His downright manic laughter! I was so excited! And then Ben said it was fine and he still loved her. All of the excitement instantly left my body. I feel like he should have been a little mad about it, but I guess he was operating under the assumption that she had a crush on him, and she never corrects him?! I guess we kind of got Ben blowing up on her in the opening of D2, but then he instantly blames himself. Like, Benny, no, she tried to erase your memory. This isn't your fault.
Uma spelling Ben into loving her/Ben being kidnapped:
I find it fucking hilarious that Ben is perpetually a damsel in distress with these movies. Something I don't love is that he is way too forgiving! Ben sweetie, no, she also spelled you into loving her. Don't jump into the water! I did love Harry and Ben's chemistry on the ship, definitely otp (not saying much cause I dislike pretty much everyone else). Basically, same complaints as Mal spelling Ben.
The OctoUma vs. DragonMal fight:
I was so hyped! Then Ben jumped in the water. No epic fight, and Uma just swam away. Missed opportunity.
D3 Audrey:
Love her being a villain. Don't love that she has no consequences for her actions.
Audrey cursing Ben:
Ben, did you not fucking apologize?! I get he was spelled but wtf man! At this point, just give up with women it's a lost cause, my dude. Same complaints with Audrey as Mal and Uma.
Overall, my rating of the original 3 Descendants movies is 5/10, definitely a crashed landing, especially with the 'Yay Girl Power' shit they were trying to do, which just made it so Mal, Uma, and Audrey didn't have to deal with consequences of their actions.
Point 3) Descendants Copied EAH
I think, at best, for Disney, they used very similar concepts and ideas. However, this never went to court, so I can't legally say Descendants is just straight up a copyright infringement. But the case MGA vs. Mattel, I believe, is relevant because the United States uses a thing called case law, meaning that the result of old cases can influence the result of new cases (extremely simplified explanation) . About the actual case, basically, the extremely simplified version of this case is that MGA had extremely popular doll line Bratz, Mattel saw that and said "yeah let's do that, but like Barbie," and made myscene MGA saw this and sued Mattel. Main talking points include:
- 4 characters all of different races (very weird argument makes a tad more since when you look at the dolls)
- Stylized bodies. For example: big lips, big eyes, small waist. (Basically true, Mattel straight up just made Barbie Bratz dolls)
- The fashion. (I mean, yes. Mattel doesn't dress dolls to look like teenagers. Especially not popular teenagers. This is Mattels only line where they look very much like popular girls. While MGA dolls are filled with pop culture references)
MGA lost the case. Which I take to mean that if it would go to court it'd be a similar situation where Descendants I'd different enough it legally wouldn't be an issue but fucking look at this:
Also Merlin Academy is reconning old Descendants lore to make it have basically the same destiny system as EAH. Also, not an especially big piece of 'evidence' but in the song Love Ain't it, the QOH says "...and fear is more important if we're gonna rule for centuries" which is similar to when the EQ says "it's better to be feared than forgotten." Both in the context of evil mom telling good daughter to take over the world with them. But who knows! It's just a serious of very similar concepts. I do ultimately think that Descendants was at least inspired by EAH as early Descendants' concept art is vastly different than what we got.
Point 4) EAH is not lacking in content
Very hard disagree. Our show got cancelled after a significant twist was revealed. Darling Charming and Apple White were revealed to be destined lovers after they kissed. I seem to recall a cut kiss between Harry Hook and Gil (check the actors Instagram) at least our show can have a queer kiss take place! "Just write fanfiction!" Is ignoring 1) we have and will continue to, and 2) we will never get a proper conclusion to the story. But I suppose this isn't something that you would get mad about since no Descendants movie has ever had a proper conclusion. (As I've established above.)
TL;DR - 1)Yes, it did. 2)Not really. 3)Depends on your interpretation of copyright law, but I think yes. 4) Eah got cut off after a major twist, so we are missing at least a warp up.
Nah cause why are EAH fans literally incapable of enjoying the show without bringing another film down?đ âOmg I canât believe they cancelled it for descendantsââ buddy, no they didnât. There were no official statements of EAH being âcancelledâ. Also, the descendants movies are good? And no, just because they share similar concepts DOES NOT mean that descendants was âcopyingâ EAH. And idk why the EAH fandom is acting like theyâre lacking content as if they donât have, what, 5 whole ass seasons of the show? Also, if youâre âlacking contentâ so badly, then just make it yourself? Make edits, write fanfiction, draw fanart. You donât gotta bring down a show that other people love just because you donât know how to enjoy media without comparing it to other mediađ
#anti eah#anti Descendants#i guess anti both of them?#ever after high#descendants#god i wrote 1k words about this wtf

One of the biggest things that makes me see Leo as trans is absolutely the size of his carapace in comparison to his brothersâ.
And Iâm not talking about height! Iâm specifically looking at his shell here, because when you compare him to the others, particularly Donnie who is nearly the same height as Leo, itâs very clear that Leoâs carapace is much longer in proportion to the rest of his body.
Like - standing side by side, even though Donnie is shorter his carapace ends noticeably higher up than Leoâs does. And I like this not only because it really helps push the idea that Leo could very likely be trans (or intersex!), but itâs also just a fun design difference between them.
(It also lends way to future scenarios of Donnie eventually getting taller than Leo, but sitting down still has Leo being the taller one haha.)
#rottmnt#rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles#rottmnt leo#trans leonardo#rottmnt headcanons#rise leo#trans leo#itâs like 4 am and Iâm having trans leo feelings again sorry guys#totally get if other people disagree with me on this! but itâs always gonna be my no.1 headcanon fr#his complexion the vibrancy of his colors staying even in adulthood his general demeanor and this? this hc is LOCKED in my brain#plus the times Leoâs depicted in pink white and blue throughout the series like I KNOW it wasnât on purpose but damn if it doesnât help#(his nails are also the exact same as his toe nails/claws but I donât super count this one tbh)#(even though it is TECHNICALLY another point in favor of trans leo)#(mainly because all the boysâ nails are very much more humanoid than turtle)#(just like how their tails arenât really a factor either since we see them only in their baby forms and never again)#I really like the idea that he was a female red eared slider pre mutation#and Lou Jitsuâs dna paved how his humanoid features came out (aka a more masculine build and voice)#but his turtle features are all very much more in like with a female res#love the thought of rise bros meeting og comic turtle boys and Leo being like wait you guys are res too?? butâŚyouâre not colorfulâŚâŚ#one headcanon I have is that - you know the cute chirping and stuff we have the boys do?#I like to think that Leoâs chirping actually sounds more feminine to himself and his bros (so he tends to not do it)#idk I love thinking about this hc a lot and thereâs no time like four am to talk about it huh?#future scenario has future Donnie going up to future Leo all smug like ah Nardo howâs the weather down there#and Leoâs all like good *sits down* why donât you join me :)#Donnie: âŚ*sits and stretches his neck out to be taller still*#Leo calls him a cheater but Donnie calls it âmaking use of his speciesâs advantagesâ#but yeah basically for many turtles the case is - bigger carapace? female. smaller carapace? male.#so itâs very interesting to take that knowledge and apply it here#did you know one of the turtles that this rule of thumb DOESNT apply to is alligator snapping turtles? male ones are the bigger ones there!#by a big difference too so Raphâs size makes a LOT of sense

'I flirted with the idea that instead of being trans that I was just a cross-dresser (a quirk, I thought, that could be quietly folded into an otherwise average life) and that my dysphoria was sexual in nature, and sexual only. And if my feelings were only sexual, then, I wondered, perhaps I wasnât actually trans.
I had read about a book called The Man Who Would Be Queen, by a Northwestern University professor who believed that transwomen who were attracted to women were really confused fetishists, they wanted to be women to satisfy an autogynephilia. And though I first read about this book in the context of its debunkment and disparagement, I thought about the electricity of slipping on those tights, zipping up those boots, and a stream of guilt followed. Maybe this professor was right, and maybe I was only a fetishist. Not trans, just a misguided boy.
About a year later, on the Internet, I come across a transwoman who added a unique message to the crowd refuting this professor. Oh, I wish I remember who this woman was, and I wish even more that I could do better than paraphrase her, but I remember her saying something like this: âWell, of course I feel sexy putting on womenâs clothing and having a womanâs body. If you feel comfortable in your body for the first time, wonât that probably mean itâll be the first time you feel comfortable, too, with delighting in your body as a sexual thing?â'
-Casey Plett, Consciousness
#this quote always moves me almost to tears when i remember it#i'm not a trans woman and i don't share the author's specific experiences with transition#but it really moves me that she frame transition as joyfully giving yourself permission to approach your body#not as something that has to be disciplined and deprived and made small in all these various ways#but as a means for experiencing pleasure and joy and delight and for insisting that our feelings and desires are worth#valuing and exploring and treasuring#i always used to think of prioritizing those things for myself as selfish and irresponsible#but who does it harm to want to experience pleasure in your own body?#it's such a beautifully simple and powerful switch to have flip in your head#and equally why are we forced to deny our own pleasure in transition and anything else related to our bodies in the name of moral rectitude#this is why i get so confused and pissed off when other trans people are fatphobic for example#like why are you so invested in politics of shame and disgust that never had any purpose other than#violently disciplining people as if they've violated moral codes by existing in a body#to say nothing of white people being racist in gay and trans communities#like again this system of violence is foundational to homophobia and transphobia#so why are you acting like it has nothing to do with you#even if you are unmoved by the urgency of other people's suffering which btw you should be moved by#what do you hope to gain by acting a collaborator and handmaiden to those systems#Casey Plett#she really is one of my favorite authors i wish more non-canadians read her#this quote is from a series of columns she did ont transition and every single one is a banger#i love when she talks about the people-pleasing elements of dysphoria and transition denial#she's so sharp about noting how many of us deny our own dysphoria on the grounds that others like and validate our bodies#that's how i always felt during my cis conventionally feminine era#it pleased other people so much and also that reception felt so hollow and joyless to me because i hated it#i get less of that positive feedback but that feels so unimportant next to the joy and pleasure i get to experience#said with the understanding that i'm very privileged in being able to prioritize those things without fear. but it was a switch flip#personal nonsense
