Bad QSMP au ideas - Laundromat AU

It’s a “modern au” in the sense that it takes place in the real world. Quesadilla Island is a city rather than an island. Phil lives at the top of an apartment building, the Federation is the government force of the city, etc.

Everything is exactly the same plot wise though. They still end up in Quesadilla by train. The Brazilians still get in a boat wreck. The French crash land into Phil’s apartment building.

But all the lore happens in a laundromat. For some reason, literally no one is allowed to own laundry machines. Everyone has to use the laundromat. It becomes the meeting hotspot. When the Federation starts acting up, they talk about it while folding their tee-shirts. Ordem Theoritas’s home base is in this fucking laundromat, in the back room, where everyone can fold their fucking socks and talk about taking down the government.

Except, literally all the lore happens in this laundromat. The “codes”, the eggs showing up, the Presidential elections. I mean, literally every fucking this happens in this laundromat. Baghera gets coords to visit this place and finds out her past as an experiment in the Federation and it’s under the FUCKING LAUNDROMAT.

This doesn’t mean they can’t ever leave the laundromat. They do. They have lovely lives outside of it. Phil still has his sanctuary. Everyone has their own homes. The Federation has their own building. They try. They try so hard to do things in other places and it never works out. They always find themselves back at the laundromat somehow.

I don’t know why I started brainrotting over this idea. I think it’s just funny if they started another meeting about the codes trying to kill their kids and it’s in the middle of a fucking dryer that’s heaving like it’s going to die any second.

Hey, just a reminder, posts equating American Republicans and American Democrats as equally bad are pushing for a voter suppression agenda.

It doesn't matter if they're Russian bots or your best fandom friend from The Philippines. They're trying to get you to not vote. Because to them, not voting is making "your voice" heard when in actuality it's their voice.

Their voice wants to stop your voice. Because they clearly know better. They will grab any article to try and claim the American Democrats will commit the exact same atrocities, maybe even worse, than the American Republicans. So you have to use your voice.

What is your voice? Vote. Vote Democrat because an inch forward is better than an inch backwards. And considering the last eight years, it's more like two inches forwards that's better than 2 miles backwards.

Vote all the way down. There is going to be more than Harris vs Trump on the ballot, and those votes will matter more. School boards, local sheriffs, state senators, state representatives, random local or state laws. A President cannot enact the radical change people want. That comes from little cultural changes from people in communities pushing the culture where they want it to go. Presidents don't do that, the non-racist sheriff does, the pro-book and pro-reading and anti-censorship school board does, the senators you call to tell them to stop sending weapons to genocidal countries do.

Pick an issue and be the change. Call your state representatives and senators and give your opinion. They're supposed to represent you, so make sure they represent you and not Misogynistic Mike. Go to school board meetings. Go to town hall meetings. Organize a potluck and talk to your friends and neighbors so they can help you. Not for everything. Being passionate about native flowers being reintroduced for 3 years is a lot more helpful than jumping to whatever topic the internet is passionate about for 2 weeks then jumping to the next one.

Don't silence your voice to please them. Your voice, your vote. Every time

The same goes for people equating progressive and conservative parties in other countries, I just personally do not know enough to speak about political parties in either Brazil or Botswana or Belgium, so I'm not gonna.

Adding on to that last part. In America, you either cannot legally vote if you are a felon or it's super difficult to vote in jail. Thus adding to the fear of "illegal" = jail time.

"But criminals shouldn't vote," you say. "What if they vote to make bad things legal. Like murder!" Yeah, so can "non-criminals." Look at Florida and the end of Roe v Wade. That argument doesn't hold up anymore.

Also, criminals live here too. Maybe they want people in charge who will stop putting extra police officers in minority areas to catch "criminals." Maybe they want to legalize weed. Maybe they do want to legalize murder. The bills would be available for everyone, but some people don't get a say, so both the Yes Murder Bill and Weed Good Actually Bill get nixed and Pro Racist Police Guy is now in charge because people weren't given the choice to vote NO on Yes Murder Bill and YES on Weed Good Actually Bill. And regrettably, maybe that guy still gets in power; gerrymandering is a different problem.

So maybe we make sure that criminals can vote too. That might make "Illegal to Not Vote" less of a fear and people won't balk at it.

Percy calm, but a little on edge

Friendly reminder that Percy jackson - our beloved silly adorable seaweed brain - is absolutely terrifying. When he’s angry, when he’s scared, when he’s on edge - he’s not warm and fuzzy.

No other character gets that reaction from people. Jason (the sweetie) is perceived as calm and in control, nico (our favorite self-outcasted outcast) is perceived as solemn and creepy, reyna (girlboss queen slay) is perceived as confident and assertive, and annabeth (our girl) is perceived as fierce, clever, and formidable. They are all intimidating to an extent.

But not like Percy. No. Becasue even when he’s at ease, he’s described as wild and disobedient. And when he’s not at ease, even if just little bit, he’s perceived as powerful, dangerous, and scary. Someone who NOBODY wants to mess with. Nobody even questions his power. One look from him has literal gangs running the other way. One look from him has Leo so scared that he’s literally shaking, and feeling the same innate fright and alarm that he does when jason summons an ear-piercing, earth-shaking, deadly bolt of lighting.

like… HELLO??? can we all just sit on that for a moment?? good lord

One angry look from percy has people thinking one thing: Run.

Percy is, canonically, the character that people find the most frightening and intimidating.

And unless he’s in a good mood - which you better hope he is - the reality is that most of us would be completely terrified of him if we met him.

As a B&N worker, they're right and they should say it. But don't worry, we don't have those tables anymore. Or if we do, they're not labeled as such. Corporate says they're too political to have "Banned" or "Challenged" or "Illegal Books" for a display, so we are no longer informing people about "To Kill a Mockingbird" (an already popular book that gets people to look at the display) or "Sex is a Funny Word" (a book that people didn't look for but actually sold a few copies by being on the same display) or "Maus" (something only banned in ONE school district in ONE state, like many other books tend to be that aren't popular enough to make the news and so slip past the uninformed's radar).

I don't know if this is better.

Please stay active in local politics. Change doesn't come from the top-down. Biden can't wave his wand and make everyone okay with LGBTQ+ marriage. Trump can't curse the entire population into becoming his evil racist henchmen. Change goes from the bottom up, when people put in the work to encourage people to love or fear others. Media depicting anything other than a white cis-gendered male married to a woman with 2.5 kids living in a single-family home with a white picket fence helps, which is why that's getting hindered. Put in your own work to fight hate with love, whereever and however you can. Like voting. Vote like your life depends on it because evidence is showing that it does.

You shouldn't summon a Ghost King

Danny had felt the weird tug to the entirety of himself and instantly knew he was finally actually getting summoned for the first time. 

He'd winced through the whole process, knowing he should have listened to Clockwork and changed the requirements now that he was Ghost King... but even though Clockwork had seemed pretty serious about it, it just... kept slipping Danny's mind.  Listen, it's not that he didn't want to! executive dysfunction is a bitch alright, and it sounded like boring ghost paper work.

And it's been like... months now, maybe even a full year, maybe even longer. People don't really summon the Ghost King apparently, and Danny has been busy! He has school, he's trying really hard to get his grades back up. At some point he just completely forgot about it. 

He's really regretting not taking it as seriously as he probably should have now that he's randomly on top of a skyscraper in some massive city he doesn't recognise. And the city is... for a lack of better words, on fire. 

He can feel the suffering he can hear the screams, there is pain, chaos and fear all around him. Like a physical force pressing down on him.

The sickening part of it all is that he feels stronger than ever like someone injected him with 50 energy drinks directly into his veins but at the same time his stomach is recoiling violently, extreme jitters but not in a good way, absolutely nauseous. 

He's not really listening to whatever is going on directly around him on that roof, that's all far in the distance somehow, maybe he's disociating, maybe something else other ghost thing is going on, but Danny is just floating there in full king regalia. 

All he cares about it is snatching the weird creepy looking grimoire and getting some answers. 

And answers he gets because its very clearly stated in there that the Ghost King (Pariah Dark) wants a tribute to himself. Whomever deigns to summon him must prove willingness to his cause. Aka the whole conquering and genocide and tyranny thing. 

Over five hundred deaths would probably do but over a thousand was preferred, even more was obviously even better. That would show dedication and earn favour and- blah blah blah. 

Danny thinks he's going to throw up. 

It doesn't help that that's when the heroes show up and Danny is very clearly the big bad in this scenario even if it was completely unintentional.

Maybe they'll let him explain? Oh shit, that one looks so upset they're crying- maybe he can just go invisible instead...

This might be the worst night of his life.
