The plot is so hilarious - going undercover so you can live up to your hotshot cop wife ONLY to find that the mafia don you’re spying on was your hotshot cop wife’s ex??? Who still loves her? And not only do you have to pretend it’s fine when it’s not, but you have to actively help him get your wife? And it’s your job to save his life which you’ve done several times so he’s imprinted on you like some kind of murderous duck?? How was this not the premise of a comedy starring Jung Woo-sung as a mafioso, Lee Jung-jae as the underachieving cop going undercover and Kim Hye-soo as the hotshot cop they’re both in love with?

(Things in Worst of Evil’s favour: Im Semi, who is really lovely; supporting actors like Im Seong-jae and Lee Shin-ki who elevate the joint. Ji Seung-hyun is also in this; his hair is doing the Lord’s work.

Also give it up for the scenes at Euijeong’s mama’s funeral, which should have played like a French farce but did not because everyone is taking this very seriously. The sheer comic value of Ji Chang-wook at his own mother-in-law’s funeral, his head lowered like no one would recognise him if he did that, and then almost getting outed by a random nephew! Said random nephew getting picked up by Ji Seung-hyun so their cover doesn’t get blown! Ji Seung-hyun’s face is in Euijeong’s papers as her husband, so now Wi Ha-joon is like ENEMY NO. 1 IS HERE! Wi Ha-joon getting into it with Eui-jeong and trying to be a comforting boyfriend, until Ji Seung-hyun walks over completely unnecessarily to get some dickswinging in! All of this while Ji Chang-wook watches! Two men! Fighting! Over his wife! How is this not a French farce?

something so fucked up about Chat Noir’s whole deal is that he is in a lot of ways Adrien playing a character. Like Adrien picked up his miraculous and was told he’d be a superhero so he was like “ok, time to act like a superhero!” and he lets himself have fun w it and play up the role and let loose and kind of just allow himself to be silly and goofy and have fun and for once in his life not care about performing Perfection™.

But. But none of the other characters KNOW THAT. So everyone just sees Chat Noir and is like “look at this guy’s ego. He’s so full of himself. Surely it’d be fair to knock him down a few pegs” without being aware of how few pegs he actually HAS. He’s like the “insecure character who overcompensates in ego” trope except he’s really not doing it unironically, he’s just having a fun LARP pretending to have self worth in his off-hours but nobody else is on the same page about it being a game and he refuses to tell them. He just dramatically pouts about it and lets them laugh and pretends like he’s not internalizing it and it is almost 3 am and my brain forced me to write this instead of sleeping I’m gonna take a melatonin

I will die on the hill that to understand Anidala you have to accept that Padme saw the red flags clear as day and went for it anyway. Why? Because Anakin was honest with her. Because Anakin, for all his idolising and putting her on a pedestal, still saw and treated her as a human being, even argued against her at times without fear or without hiding behind clever words. Because Anakin made her feel the youth that was taken from her at a young age. She was captured by the boyish charm and the awkwardness and the blunt honesty, and so when he came to her with a billion red flags, she went for it anyway. He was a breath of fresh air to her.

To understand Anidala you must understand they are 100% freak4freak. They are both children who grew up too fast and are now in a secret relationship giggling like teenagers in their twenties. This is vital to them. Padme is not a flawless character or an idea of perfection, on the contrary she is a very human character who was put in charge of her people at fourteen, something that had a lasting impact on her, and so she is choosing her childhood joy and a fairytale romance over the red flags her husband is waving. She is the OG ‘I can fix him’ mentality. No one is doing it like her.

‘The red flags are mass murder’ and the point still stands.
