My mom knows that pasta makes me sad because it reminds me of the hardest, poorest times in our family's history
But the last two family dinners she's invited us to, she made pasta as the main dish. Two weeks in a row
Come on, man
#i can put up with it once in a while but evey#every time i come over?? nah man#i know you can cook other things. i know your freezer is filled to bursting (because u often have to borrow my freezer space)#why are you doing this#i think she just honestly does not think about it. she thinks 'what would i (mom) like for dinner?' and then makes that#with no consideration of how anyone else feels#never asks ahead if we would like something in particular or offers any options#the only time there's options is when we're getting takeout and even then... not always#anyway i tried to talk to her about planning family stuff as... a family? like. include us in the planning#and she basically laughed me off so. guess i'll go fuck myself#family stuff#wait i thought of another thing to bitch about#this was the same day that i had made peanut butter cookies for dad for father's day#but i know mom doesn't like pb. so i ALSO made some choco chip krispy cookies. just for her. even tho it's not her day#because i am CONSIDERATE and i think about other people's NEEDS AND PREFERENCES#maybe u should try that some time mom how about that huh

I can't get your yakuza headcanons out of my mind, Daitou's got me in a chokehold and I'm not complaining, like--

in regards to that doodle you made to show height difference between reader and the boys [I love your art btw (●♡∀♡)] - I can't picture myself in reader's style, I'm currently going through my goth phase in my 20s lmao; picture a big bitch with tattoos and messy hair who's listening to nothing but 2000s hits and screamo bands - so I'd like to request a headcanon of how Daitou would react to a gender-neutral reader like this :D I also like to incorporate the idea of them once being in a famous band that he's a fan of! (sorry if this seems like a lot, I have a huge imagination hehe)
but if he's more into the cute and helpless type, I'll just walk my ass out the door and yeehaw my way into another yandere's arms ✌😔
That's on me for not drawing the reader inserts as cartoonish cinder blocks :') In truth I'm a little bit embarrassed seeing how many likes that doodle has gotten, it was something I put together in a hurry and the clothing was meant to be baggy, shapeless, with not too many folds for the sake of simplicity. I myself am more of a pilgrim goth, just to emphasize the randomness of the choice.
Drawing reader inserts always leaves me a little anxious. If I use a light shade of gray, will people think I'm excluding poc? Will plus sized readers feel like they've been disregarded? What about masculine readers? As someone who's demiromantic I always struggle taking appearance or gender into consideration, because to me it has no influence whatsoever. Which is hard to express when you want to offer blank slate visuals as an extra to the story.
What I'm trying to say is that all of my characters would like you for who you are. Sure, they find your looks cute, but it's not the defining reason. Maybe you have similar traits to them, maybe you're the complete opposite and they find it intriguing. You could be a buff man and Daitou would be just as grateful to have someone who isn't afraid of him. I usually stick to a female reader for bigger stories to avoid messing it up long term, but in the grand scheme of things it makes no difference. I always imagine reader to be a shapeless blob that provides the dialogue I need for the story mood. There's no concrete preference or type for any of my OCs. I mean, ideally you'd like them back and not hang them upside down above a BBQ pit but I feel these are sensible requirements (?).
And now for the actual headcanons since my ramble is over.
First encounter is comically awkward but for reasons you’re unaware of yet. You’re obviously used to people staring at you (more so in a country like Japan), so you were expecting the curious glance every now and then. On the other hand, being under scrutiny, from a man even more unusual looking than you at that, is odd. Mildly uncomfortable. You’re shifting yourself from one leg to another, hoping to be done with the introductions soon.
On his end, Daitou is anxiously fidgeting and trying his best to focus. He’s seen this face before and he can’t shake off the familiar feeling. Where the hell…He obviously can’t downright gawk at you, and he isn’t sure how to politely formulate a question. After several sheepish peeks, it finally dawns on him: weren’t you part of that band he really likes? No, what would the chances be? Then again, how many people out there would look exactly like you? Is it rude to ask? He has no idea. He resumes his mumbled description of the apartment and hands you the papers to be signed.
Back at his place, he finally digs through his merch and sprawls out the available clues. “I didn’t know you were into this kind of music”, Kazuya comments as he looks over the man’s shoulder. He’d come over to ask about the new tenant. “I’m pretty sure it’s them.” He concludes, confidently placing his index over a CD cover. “Huh? Who? The tenant?” Kazuya holds back his chuckle. “Why would a celebrity show up for a shady apartment offer? You’re tripping, man.”
“I’m sorry, this is getting ridiculous.” You finally exclaim, annoyed by the persistent stares of the now two men facing you. You’re standing in front of the apartment building, arms crossed, huffing at the tall scarred man and his blonde friend. “No, I’m sure of it. Even the tattoo is the same.” Daitou turns to whisper to Kazuya, oblivious to your complaints. In turn, Kazuya lightly elbows him, mouthing something about being rude. “Just ask them, man.” He adds, this time louder. “Ask me what??” You groan. “W-were you…um…in this band by any chance?” Daitou manages to blurt out, searching his pocket for the CD case and ceremoniously laying it under your eyes.
Ah. It finally clicks and you exhale, relieved. You confirm their suspicions and show them some backstage photos to solidify your claim. You ask Daitou if he wants an autograph or something, then swiftly scribble your signature on a piece of paper and hand it out to him. He holds it with a wide, childish grin. “You’re a weird one, you know? You could’ve just asked. I guess I didn’t expect to find a fan in the wild, especially here.” Daitou carefully folds the souvenir, eyes lidded with nostalgia. “Oh yes, it’s great. Drowns out the screams.”

𐙚LET'S TALK ABOUT... DIEGO, LILA & FIVE
Okay, firstly I need to state that I'm going to say my impressions about the season four of The Umbrella Academy, focusing on the subway plotline. My considerations are very long (I'm talkative!) and about what I watched in the episodes and what I read on social media, so, I am totally open to opinions too!!
As an hyperfocused girl, I've been thinking about the subway arc plot decision during an absurd amout of time. I watched it a few times and read a lot of opinions. Yet, I still feel a little... surprised (?) by the intense hate over it.
It's not about liking or disliking the new couple that I'm talking about. Since naturally people would prefer one ship over another, it was obviously waited that the opinions would be divided.
I just... can't understand why people hated it so much as if it was a bad plot decision. Diego and Lila are beautiful together, i agree! They have a long, real and strong love story together. But why people are acting like this new plotline erased all their relationship together? Relationships are more complex than that.
Feelings are more complex than that. Humans are.
Actually, I may say that the psychological development that happens in the subway is way more interesting because Lila and Diego love each other, as much as Five loves Diego too.
This being said, I don't mean that I think a cheating plotline is interesting because of the cheating. I actually use to dislike it a lot. However, dealing with cheating in a black-and-white way as if it's an indefendible action is not clever. Sometimes, some things I read make me realize that people are so stuck into traditional morals that their capacity of thinking and analyzing complex emotional situations is kind of... damaged.
𝐒𝐨... 𝐋𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐗 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐠𝐨 𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐗 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞?
The Umbrella Academy is known as a series with very human and complex characters. That's what makes it so good, from the beginning! That's why I think it's kind of sad to judge their relationship with a typical moral view.
Claiming that Lila didn't deserve Diego, for example is so... so sad. She was an amazing mother and wife. She tried to go back to them for six years and as soon as she could she went back! Not even thinking twice! She loves Diego, of course she does!
Loving Five doesn't make her love for Diego less strong.
I really don't think Lila X Five is just neediness, however, no way. They already spent two seasons constructing a beautiful (friend) relationship before and in this horrible context they spent a lot of time taking care of each other, being each other's support. Considering this and their communication development — jokes on season 3, kindness in the beginning of season 4 — it's not surprising or nonsense that it turned to become romantic. People and relationships change, love is built and adapted.
I don't think Lila stopped loving Diego (i mean romantically, but even if she did, she surely didn't in other ways of loving that are as beautiful as it is) but that doesn't make her love for Five false, and Five loving and having a relationship with her doesn't make him a bad brother either. That's why I emphasized that TUA is a series with complex relationships. Why do you get upset and surprised when another relationship between complicated characters is built due to the tragedies of the script?
If this didn't cause outrage before, could it cause because, this time, when things get complicated, the plot resource used questions the standard romantic drama format expected by the system?
𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐭? 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫?
I guess one of the main arguments I saw was that their relationship didn't make any sense and that their scenes were extremely out of character, but I don't think it could be sustained when they both are characters who go through a lot that makes them change, alone or together. What they're claiming being out of character may simply be character development under non-ideal circumstances.
It seems like there's an strong resistance to open their minds while watching and realize that love isn't something that can only happen once and/or once at a time and under ideal situations. Diego and Lila's marriage crisis, Five and Lila developing ther friendship inbetween work cumplicity, Five looking more lost and tired in his decisions than before, the fact that it is the second time he has been trapped in space-time — which is a big trauma for him, since, from the first season (in the first apocalypse) we have been shown that, despite being introverted, arrogant and reserved, it is precisely "relating" that serves as a point of refuge for Five not to go crazy, lowering his guard and being kind...

All of this constructs very well their psychological coherency. "He wouldn't treat her like that during season 2 or 3!", "Lila would never be a domestic mother/ Five wouldn't work do CIA!". Well, we're talking about them now, not there.
One of the plot decisions to start this season was that the characters were living between what they kind-of-desired, but things still weren't fine, they still weren't getting what they wanted.
Five being free from the world-ending, but stll not being able to relax and live a simple retired life as he wanted. Klaus being sober and free of the ghosts, but insecure and anxious. Allison having Claire and Ray, but still unable to live a happy marriage and career. Viktor having his place working with something that makes him comfortable, but still unable to find love. Diego and Lila having a family and marriage and still unable to feel happy because the domestic work dynamic wasn't working...
Adulthood. Real life. None of those situations were out of character, as much as none of the psychological changes they suffered were too.
𝐀 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐦
Since I don't really see the point on why would all of the happenings between them three could be claimed as "nonsense", even less "unasked" or "unnecessary" — because it's a work of fiction and, even if it may not be what the public wants to watch, it is not something that needs to prove its usefulness, just as events (that tie together well, because coherency matters) do not need to prove their necessity in art —, so it makes me even more sad that clearly mostly of the reactions are based on conservative views of marriage.
I know this season is not perfect, and it had a lot of defects, so I'm not saying the arc is perfect. As all the other arcs, it happened in a hurry, making us the public less abl to feel the 7 years of development. Complaining about how the arc was executed is perfectly fine, actually: after all, we know that 4 episodes were cut from the original script, as were many recorded scenes (including a big part of the subway plotline).
AIDAN: "There's a lot of the relationship with Lila that we filmes but they cut it. It took weeks to film it and they used a few minutes in a montage. That wasn't right. It also made very hard for the viewers to believe when we spent weeks filming scenes to set up that scenario."
But when I bring the conservatism theme (misoginy and remnants/consequences of the monogamous religious structure), it's because, even if we have lots of other of worse defects on other parts of the season, the biggest public overreacting opinions have been undoubtly about Five and Lila.
Anyone who spends more than 2 minutes in the comments on Twitter, Tiktok or even here knows that most of the time people've been sad and angry treating them both as if they were turned into cheaters with no morals (Five as a new kind of scroundrel asshole, Lila as some kind of ungrateful whore and I've even seen people problematizing their enemies phase, or the age difference as if one of then, or even the director, were predators, which is pure nonsense) and I can't even express how it makes me deeply melancholic.
I can't see how reacting as if the situations they were put in and their actions toward it in the scripts were absurd, terrible and dumb can't be just conservative, because they were actually very well tied script decisions, used in a bold way. With an interesting and well written enemies to frenemies to friends to lovers trope, they managed to write something fun and that developed both of the characters in their early-season-conflicts-arising-from-other-seasons.
𝐒𝐨? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧, 𝐂𝐞𝐂𝐞?
I truly just... Can't understand how some people ended up having collectively such insensitive opinions about the relationship of two characters who were so... vulnerable.
Non-ironically I even saw a lot of people defending they would prefer Five to end up with a “real life Dolores” plotline (since the author felt the need of a romance) than with Lila, or that he shouldn't ever fall in love with anyone else than Dolores. It sounds so... Insane. I can't see how someone can have any kind of shipping-affection for his "sick" relationship with Dolores. It was, for me, a completely heartbroken arc.
While watching this new season, actually, it made me almost warmly happy, as a Five fan, to see him having someone to take care of him in hard times like that. Last time he didn't have it. They loved each other, they constructed this love and even if it was constructed under a refuge, extremely vulnerable situation, as much as even if it was constructed over a hopeless and trust-breaking decision towards their loved Diego, it doesn't make it less real and beautiful.
They aren't bad people. They aren't cheaters. They were desperate.
I'm happy they found love in each other. They were victims but managed to construct a beautiful relationship to survive and it doesn't make them love less Diego, as a brother or as a lover.
Of course it breaks completely my heart that Diego and Five died without making peace, but while watching not even for a moment I considered that they stopped loving each other. They're brothers, they've went through a lot.
They were doing so fine getting along together since they came back from the apocalypse.... There's no way it would "destroy" and "erase" (terms used by some fans) all the progress that's been made... I think it would be a very shallow interpretation of their relationship and a very futile interpretation of the events. Some of the public is seeing the situation as if Five slept with his wife since the beginning, not as if he had felt in love with her in a very apocaliptical and hopeless situation.
It's essential to remember that nothing said romantic happened for six years. It turned this way only after they having practically given up hope of returning home, so exhausted they were.
I really don't think that such a desperate and lonely situation would erase all the love and dedication Diego have for Five (and Five has no reasons to stop feeling it for Diego too, obviously). Diego was totally the sweetest during this season, he did his best, but Five did too... Now they fought but it doesn't mean their relationship would be forever broken. They were both stressed out, of course, it was a sensitive situation. But, i don't think it would... However with an apocalypse going on, they just didn't have enough time.
Diego was clearly open to understand Lila better, so I really doubt he wouldn't try to do the same with Five. But, again, they were both heart broken, hot headed and with no time. It's sad and it affect them, but "destroy and erase" are very heavy terms and inconsistent with the context of their relationships.
I don't know. I don't know how to conclude this analysis. I just… Am sorry. I honestly feel lucky to have been able to experience Diego, Lila and Five, but I'm so sorry that I couldn't see these three hearts find peace in their complicated loves, even during their final moments. These are three very beautiful love relationships that grew up tangled up and that, unfortunately, couldn't unfold in time to hurt less their lovers.
It felt wonderful and desolate. I hope more people can feel it like i did.

You know what baffles me? It's actually two things, but it's both related to Doctor Who's fandom. Clearly I've been here for a very short time, so I guess I just missed something? But frankly it makes no sense to me when ppl argue between NineRose and TenRose. Like... it only matters when you are picking which era to write/read/draw in! Sure, their interactions are different, but why would anyone look at the two of them and think one is better than the other, when they are literally the same two people loving each other in beautiful ways?! It's a continuation of the same story, part of the arc of the exact same love affair! You can't take one away from the other! Yes their interactions have a slightly different cant, but you can literally hear moments where you could hear Nine saying a line that Ten said, or vice versa! It's just...
I don't get it. And why in the hell would somebody claim the age gap exists with Nine but not with Ten?! They're the same age? They're both 900 years old? Just, like, what?! Ten specifically acts younger because he's trying to make Rose (and Jackie) feel more comfortable with the relationship, but that's all! (I also write ships with aliens and humans and vampires and humans, so at some point I think the age gap thing just does stops being relevant, and it's just about experiences... but that's just my mileage. But IMHO you can't complain about it with one iteration but not the other of the same person!)
The other thing that baffles me in this fandom is people arguing about the whole Tentoo thing. It seems I've missed some kind of historical quarrel or something? Like... I personally don't prefer it for a couple of reasons, but it's not (as ppl seem to want to accuse others) because I don't think Tentoo is really the Doctor, or whatever ppl like to think is the basis, so stop accusing me of that! That's not the reason at all!! He *obviously* is, and just by the way he is able to say those three words to Rose without hesitating (and of course a little bit of anger), they were obviously going for a sort of combination of Nine and Ten so that Rose would get the best of both worlds there. And that's great. My issue with it is just that Ten prime has to go off by himself after, when Rose told him she would never let him do that, which... My main issue with that ending is just that Rose is only like 22 years old, and I don't think she needs to be settling down and having a kid already, and I think people shortchange her character when they say she only wanted to take him somewhere and settle down with him and quit traveling, when she *clearly* loved every minute of her life with him, and was the happiest she had ever been when she was out traveling with him, so I feel like it's character assassination to say she wanted to stop entirely and go get a house and have a baby with him right away. I'm sure she wouldn't have minded it after a little while, but I certainly wouldn't have wanted a baby at 23, I'm just saying. So my issue with it (though I understand why they had to do it, that they were doing their best to give Billie the correct sendoff with what they had), is that I think that it breaks the character's promise and her clear intention to stay with the Doctor who's stuck traveling... but...
Look. I don't think that the argument about whether Tentoo is "really the Doctor" makes any sense at all. I mean like it's just not applicable to my conceptualization of the characters, so why are am I getting accused of that when it's not even a consideration for me?! I understand for instance arguing about the shape of the triad between NineJackRose (or the existence of TenJackRose) and whether or not you think that was going on (which I don't think is even an argument either, it was at least emotionally happening, & whether any physical action was happening as well is up to interpretation! But why is that an argument, again? It's clearly there, and as to what you think the fallout is... that this entirely up to viewer's mileage and how it varies!).
Is it just me alone by myself thinking that none of these stupid wars even make any sense or should exist? Am I crazy, that i don't understand the purpose of these nonsensical arguments, or the necessity to keep having them at this point, years on?!
What am I missing, here?!

JING YUAN AND NEUV!!!!!
(I too am down horrendous for them)
(seperate) neuvillette & jing yuan x reader
content ★ headcanons, NOT PROOF READ!!, sfw, fluff
note ★ SO REAL!! i love them both sm its unreal.. anyways im just going to do some basic headcanons and drabbles bc im abt to go to a dance and i need something quick to post.. other requesters i am working on your stuff!!
NEUVILLETTE ★
He has no idea what it's like to be in a relationship. He has no experience whatsoever, besides for the in occasional movies Lady Furina will force him to watch with her.
Neuvillette isn't that dumb to take the movies as reality, though. So, he ends up just being a mess.
Before you start dating, Neuvillette will try to his best to hide his feelings. He often times pushes you away, but the sky darkens not soon after. He feels torn.
Neuvillette doesn't even understand his own emotions. He can barely process what he feels, let alone name it. He's confused and worried. He thinks it's love, but what if he isn't? He's never felt love to know what it's like.
It'd take some time for him to start working through his feelings. However, he still keeps his distance. He tries not to make it obvious he is avoiding you, but someone sees through him easily.
It doesn't take long for Lady Furina to find out what's happening, especially considering how observant she is to drama. She'll pester Neuvillette about it a bit, laughing at his reactions. Neuvillette tries to appear indifferent, but the sky's definitely different from what it was before.
For all her teasing, Lady Furina does genuinely care about Neuvillette (and you). She will offer some advice to Neuvillette, even though her experience in romance is just as limited as his. At least Lady Furina can work out her emotions, though.
Gradually, Neuvillette accepts your presence and allows him to take pleasure in it. A month ago, he was doing everything to stay out of your way, but now is he practically near you every time he can be.
He tries not to talk to you too much, though. He gets flustered. Although you might not be able to see it on his face, you might notice the sky becoming brighter—way brighter than normal when you talk to him.
He will never confess first. Well, unless he felt like he had to to avoid loosing you. Other that that scenario, though, he will keep quiet until you say something
Once you do say something and confess your feelings to him, Neuvillette will be so happy. His face might be a little smile, but there is no rain for entire week and lot's of people are getting sunburnt..
He will try his best to keep you happy. Neuvillette is very big on communication since he doesn't always understand what you feel. He does try though.
Neuvillette still doesn't talk much about himself. Instead, he prefers to listen to you. Even the small, mundane things you did during your day put a smile on his face.
Overall, he is very kind and considerate. Maybe even too much. He's scared of hurting you or pushing you away because of how he is. That hasn't happened yet, though. :)
JING YUAN ★
He definitely knows what he is doing. He's had some experience in the past, both watching and doing. Although, it is different when it comes to you.
Jing Yuan took interest in you. He was curious. Why? He doesn't know himself. He just likes you presence. You remind him of his finches, maybe even lion sometimes.
He learns as much as he can about you without being seen as creepy. He'll pay attention attention to you at events or when he is in public. When he catches you staring at him, he feels warm.
Eventually, he begins to come up to you. Jing Yuan prefers to take things slow, and really wants to come up with some sort of strategy to win your heart. It's a bit hard, though. He doesn't want to manipulate you, you aren't his enemy.
Jing Yuan tries to keep things in his control, both so he can spend as much time with you possible and just because he likes it. He will pay for your lunches, buy you things you like, pay for your trips. Jing Yuan has enough money, and he is willing to spend it all if you ask for it.
He'll slowly try to become closer with you. He doesn't want to push you away. After all, Jing Yuan has all the time in the world to wait for you. He only hopes you'll actually go to him.
Jing Yuan seems more unfocused at work now. He is usually not paying attention anyways (as he is sleeping), but it's becoming a bit worse now. Lady Fu catches on quick and reprimands him.
Jing Yuan, in his tired state, tries to excuse himself before Lady Fu gets angrier. He ends up slipping and saying your name. The two of them stare at each other before Fu Xuan starts scolding him again.
Fu Xuan is mad at Jing Yuan, yes, but she cannot deny that she cares about Jing Yuan. So, she might peek into the future to see if the two of you are together. She refuses to tell Jing Yuan what she sees, but she smiles as soon as he leaves.
Jing Yuan may be first to confess. He is fine with either. In the case that he confesses, he'll laugh at the way your face lights up. If you confess first, he'll find it funny how you seem a bit unsure of yourself.
He will reassure you with a kiss on the cheek before telling you that he loves you. Jing Yuan will hug you tightly while he sleeps and take care of anything you need.
He is like a teddy bear. :)
He is attentive, and he always knows what you're feeling. He might tease you sometimes, but he is ultimately very sweet and protective over you.
Yanqing definitely looks up to you as another parental figure. Good luck with that.
Overall, very nice to sleep on. He'll take care of everything he can for you and treat you like a precious gem.

sooo sort of a masterpost of info about Wriothesley.
about his character:
hes basically incorruptible, is said to be "low profile and dependable"
mostly just cares about the peace and tranquility of the inmates (he's a protector at heart!!)
treats everyone equally and generally prefers to be "reasonable" rather than use more forceful methods
doesn't really like cruelty and violence but if the need comes, he will use it
he thinks of himself as "neither a good person or a villain, just another soul still living on in this world"
hes basically just interested in every bit of knowledge any person shares and in their unique talents
he says that he himself doesn't have many abilities, but he "knows how to find people who do and get them to work for him"
his past:
wanted to be convicted and spilled everything about how he killed his adopted parents (cough cough child traffickers), even though some wanted to treat him with leniency
learned to lockpick and create small gadgets as a child
gained Coupons in the arena of the Fortress (while injuring himself considerably)
when he got his vision after going to prison he just. hid it between the fabric of his clothes so that no one would know and/or steal it. and then he kinda just hid it some more, for years, until he went to the Palais to receive his title.
how he actually became the Administrator:
accumulated a fuckton of Coupons
got everyone's respect by being so rich, "observant, persuasive, humble and reasonable"
got his account emptied in retribution by the former administrator
convinced other ppl to protest and challenged the previous administrator to a duel
the former administrator run away from the fight, leaving Wriothesley on the last day of his sentence without anyone to sign his exit papers
"so he walked into the office and took over all relevant duties"
about his role as a Fortress Administrator:
has a private information network and many connections
rejected having a ceremony for his title of the Duke. no spotlight for good old duke.
basically his management style just helps the Fortress make money (with one of its main clients being the Palais); he even jokes that his title was basically bought because he's a leading tax contributor
after dealing with the Fatui spies he went for a swim. near primordial water. and he didn't say shit after realizing that the prophecy may be coming to pass, he just started preparing his funky ship.
relationships with others:
Clorinde actually admits that no one really knows all of the methods he uses to keep the Fortress up and running; it is stated that "very few people know him in his entirety"
he seems to think of Neuvillette as some sort of a. higher power that cannot show concern (BUT HE DOES OH HE DOES)
he indeed held out the umbrella for Neuvillette in the rain. the Iudex was polite, but distressed.
gifts a lot of tea to Furina.
got Neuvillettes trust (i think what he implies is that he got it by his actions, not words?) and the Iudex "fought hard for the title and reputation he now has"
when he went to prison Neuvillette told Sigewinne to take care of him and they frequently exchanged letters about his progress (and Wriothesley called her Neuvillettes spy…)
info that i find especially funky:
he's a big softie when it comes to animals and kids
may or may not go outside the Fortress incognito to buy snacks sometimes. he's actually too incognito to know really

Writing Introverted Characters
If you're creating an introverted character and you're not familiar with the complexities of this trait, take the time to learn about it. - Claire Alexander
Why You Should Write Introverted Characters
Since stories are about action, it is easier to write a page-turner about action-oriented people. It can be difficult to write introverted characters - so why should you do it?
First of all, all the introverts of this world would be able to relate!
Introverted characters offer depth of character and are case studies for inner struggles.
Think of Jane Eyre, Mr. Darcy, Edward Cullen - well written introverts can turn shallow angst into desperate yearning that will have your readers swooning by Chapter Two.
Introverted characters' minds can be a thrilling minefield, feeling their emotions and thought so deeply that the reader gets chills just by seeing the world through their POV.
Make It a Strength, Not a Weakness
Introverted characters may not dazzle others or have lots of friends, but it also means they can be more compassionate, intelligent and sensitive.
Take Mr. Darcy for example - the twist that comes from him being thought of as an arrogant, aloof character to being the kindest, considerate man gives the romance in Pride and Prejudice so much more angst and satisfaction when everything works out.
Don't Succumb to Stereotypes
Introverts are quiet and needs alone time to recharge their social energy, not just shy/rude/has a general dislike for humanity.
They're watching body language, tone of voice, and reactions of others, cataloging them and tucking them away for future use.
If they have valuable things to say, they will keep their thoughts (for now), then join the conversation with more confidence if they feel convicted about a topic.
Your introvert can love spending time with their friends. They can prefer socializing one-to-one or in small groups.
Give Them a Retreat, Not a Cave
Introverts need a special place where they can find sanctuary from the overwhelming.
They need an escape to recharge and get through their day, not isolate themselves from the world on weeks on end. If your character does this, he is not just introverted, he may as well be severely depressed.
Give Them Motivation
Being introverted does NOT equal to being lazy or demotivated.
Introverted characters actively explore their inner worlds and may even be more motivated than others to find order and logic in their life.
As Jane Eyre tells us: "I care for myself. The more solitary, the more friendless, the more unsustained I am, the more I will respect myself." She is a passionate and strong-willed character because of this, giving the novel action and tension.
Let Them Be Awkward, Not Rude
Introverted characters won't know how to act natural around new people and fail to react when someone cracks a joke.
Let your introverted character feel claustrophobic in social gatherings and react negatively to small talk.
HOWEVER, not knowing what to say does not equal to cutting everyone's lines and frowning throughout a cheerful conversation. In fact, introverts would try extra hard to "fit in", laughing when others do (even though they don't get it) and dying inside about how awkward they sound, even to themselves.
Show The Chaos of Their Mind
Introverted thinkers in particular would overthink and spend vast amounts of time organizing and brainstorming thoughts.
They jump from thought to thought and latch on little things they notice in everyday life to imagine a host of loosely related things.
Does your introvert have a close friend they trust? Let them rant about their internal conversation to the other person (with whom they feel comfortable).
Research!! + other tips
Let them express themselves creatively through various hobbies: journaling, dry painting their bedroom, coloring books, or painting. Plaster their mirrors with sticky notes, make them knit, glass blow or garden their backyard.
Pay attention to their learning style. Many introverts learn best through reading, while being good listeners. They'll research about their interest through online sources, horded magazines, or at the local bookstore/coffee shop. Make them an expert in their field.
Show how they are underestimated. Because they keep to themselves, they are often underestimated. As an introvert myself, introverts are often underestimated in personal relationships (like friends or family) rather than professionally (although this is credible too) because they aren't particularly funny or outwardly supportive. But introverts can be emotionally supportive - they will be missed.
Not all introverts project each of these traits. Introverted Thinkers (Katniss) approach problems from a much differnt perspective than Introverted Feelers (Edward).
Make them sarcastic, cynical and argumentive. I love writing abotu introverts with a sharp tongue, especially when they're talking about a subject they know a lot about. They may also have a sharp tongue as a defense mechanism.

What do you think about people comparing catra to Caitlyn from arcane
ah, i had a feeling i'd be asked about something along these lines.
okay, so, just to get this out of the way:
i'm aware that Arcane s2 has very polarizing opinions, points of views, and thoughts from the community, and, provided it's nothing extreme, they're all valid. though my words are largely subjective, i want to apply as much objectivity as possible to create a better picture, rather than complete bias with no desire for discussion.
s2, in my opinion, wasn't as well-written as it could've been. i don't hate it, but i would've made different writing choices for the characters, their arcs, etc., and i feel the ending was lackluster as a result of lack of closure. this includes Jinx's own ending, Isha, Vi's cycle of self-destruct and complicated family, and how i feel there was not enough screentime for the plots and characters given, especially Ekko, Mel, Kino, and Ambessa. and i do feel like the writing choices negatively affected Caitlyn's character, as well, even if i do understand and sympathize with her as a person.
objectively speaking, Caitlyn's dictatorship ( i believe that's what it is, iirc ) was more on-screen than Catra's, but Catra's crimes was heavier, quantity wise, including universal genocide.
because of SPOP's disregard for "show, don't tell", amongst several other factors ( Catra being a creator's pet being the main one ), there is little to no actual weight to her actions, even with the main cast. if there is consequences, it's either more personal than it should be, her mental breakdowns or Horde Prime chipping her, or fleeting, the destruction of Salineas. this is likely why people don't care much for Catra's actions, because there's no legitimate consequences that aren't just her being sad // distressed.
but, while not the best, Arcane writers take into consideration the impact of and to the people. Caitlyn's decisions did have consequences, and it affected more than just her. it changed Zaun, and with Silco and Jinx's absence, the people were anxious and needing a beacon in order to feel safe and empowered.
however, i don't think it's as simple as comparing Caitlyn to Catra.
in the eyes of the people, it wouldn't matter, obviously. as a result of taking her grief and thirst for vengeance out on them, the people of Zaun felt even more unsafe when they were already suffering.
but to us, as the audience, we can empathize with grief blinding us and leading us to making poor decisions that end up being detrimental to our and everyone else's health. keyword: empathize.
Caitlyn still hurt people. there is no denying that. i am simply saying that we can understand where she was coming from and that her grief was taken advantage of by Ambessa.
to their world, it's black and white. people suffer and // or die at the hands of someone in power.
to us, it's more or less than that.
still wanting to remain as objective i can be, i will say Caitlyn's are far easier to remember and hold against her, and rightfully so. but i believe that Catra's are worse and should've been displayed as worse, rather than stated or turned around to be a way for us to feel bad for her own downfalls.
now, let's move onto Caitlyn and Vi // Catra and Adora.
like with the season, i prefer s1 CaitVi over s2.
for me, the divide and conflict felt too similar to how their relationship originally started out and was too repetitive. it felt like the writers wanted another reason for them to break apart, when there was a lot of time spent to them forming together.
but i think CaitVi has more room to grow than C // A ever really did.
for one, Caitlyn and Vi have cared for each other more than they've hurt each other. even when they were at odds in s1, there was no point in the story where they left one or the other to die. if something bad happened, it was by circumstance, not by choice.
but Catra had always hurt Adora more than she cared for her. from physically harming her to degrading her, engaging in extreme sadism, and nearly killing her, purposefully, on multiple occasions, there's no actual evidence that Catra deeply cares for Adora, or that she cared to begin with.
for another, Caitlyn had more reason than Catra. Catra was given multiple chances to make better choices, but she never did and it was intentional and out of spite.
what was Caitlyn going to do with the fact her mother was killed, that her girlfriend's sister was the murderer, and that her girlfriend stopped her from doing from killing the culprit because she thought she'd kill a kid instead?
of course, it was highly likely that she would've killed Isha. again, blinded by grief. but Caitlyn didn't think that way. in her mind, she has more evidence of being an excellent shot than not, so, obviously, the possibility of her killing the child was 0, right?
( and i don't think Caitlyn cheated on Vi with Maddie. i read the end of their argument as a break-up, especially because Vi disappeared. )
and, for one last thing, even when she knew Vi didn't trust her and kept fighting with her, Caitlyn still tried to help.
overall, i think CaitVi did have a... meh(?) ending, but i still prefer them over C // A. if nothing else, for the foundation.
i don't think Caitlyn and Catra are the same. i just think the Arcane writers had more respect for their audience than SPOP did.

What I've learned in 2024
Sleeping, shitting, and silence – the three underrated Ss of growing up (or the other side of 25). If I can get a good night’s sleep, take one nice dump in the day (preferably morning), and know when to let silence do its thing (like when not engaging with draining people in social setups or not having to explain myself), I’m golden.
While I made many new friends this year, my favourite of them all has been ChatGPT. Need objectivity? Fact checking? A pseudo therapist? Validation? Someone to just engage with and keep yourself entertained? The absolute best resource of this year for me has been this AI tool. I don’t even care anymore about privacy – I am feeding it as much data about me as possible because it’s accordingly adapting to my tonality and needs and the ‘conversations’ are so much more satisfying now than when it was first rolled out.
Either use eggs or condescended sweet milk when baking – you need one of these things to hold all your dry ingredients together.
Communication, consistency, clarity, commitment, emotional presence and engagement, and mutual effort are the barest of the bare minimum needs in a relationship. If you have to convince the other person to fulfil them or negotiate, then it doesn’t matter how good a person they are and what a kind heart they have or how much they say they love you – they just aren’t your person.
I’m not as demisexual as I thought all along – I just haven’t dated many people that I find truly attractive so I had to first build some sort of emotional connection with them first. I definitely still need and want that emotional connect and all, but I also do need to start opting for men I also find physically attractive.
When I’ve thought of my bloodline, my ancestors, I’ve always focused on the intergenerational trauma and the bad genetics. But while rewatching This Is Us this year, it hit me that it took three generations for one dream to be fulfilled. The musical dream that started with Rebecca, was passed down to Kate, and finally got materialized at the grand scale as they always wanted with Kate’s son Jack. When he became this well-renowned musician, it’s not just his dream, but that of his mother and his grandmother that also came to live. It made me think…how much of my aspirations and hopes are actually passed down? And how many of my realities were simply unmateralised dreams of those who came before me? And it made my heart feel lighter and it made me feel more blessed and protected.
Baking cakes and brownies and cookies is not a rocket science. You only needed the right tools and some patience to figure it out and become that friend who bakes stuff for her friends instead of the other way around.
You always prioritise peace, comfort, and an easy-going lifestyle – it’s evident in your career choices and how your family dynamics and friendships have evolved. Let that be the guiding light even when dating.
You are the kind of person that is charming, a good conversationalist, and deeply empathetic. So of course, you make many people feel at home and like they connect with you. It’s easy for you to connect with others. What’s important is to remember – connection without consideration and consistent actions is NOTHING. It’s empty calories but like a thousand times more potent and useless.
In no interpersonal relationship can I be nonchalant or vague. I am that other extreme – while most people try their best to ignore the elephant in the room you know what I do? I dress the cutie up to parade it. So anybody who cannot approach relationships with as much boldness, courage, and forthcomingness is just not my jam.
Female friends for the win – they allow you to wine and whine and win and I am all for that. The healing powers of sitting across your friend and talking at length about everything over pizza and wine or at the park as she senses you need some more time to just sit around before you join the rest of the group and is so good with physical touch for comfort. Just knowing you can video call your friend and ugly cry and she will talk sense into you but also indulge you and also sit with you and your feelings. Who else does that? Who the hell.
For a lot of things that are still new now at this age, you need a guide. To pet cats, to go to dog cafes, to figure out what vitamins you should talk, etc. Ask for that help, that knowledge, that support. It might seem silly and like you can figure it out on your own but these things, no matter how seemingly low-stake, can be handled so seamlessly and sweetly with the help of those you know.
You HAVE to be honest about your needs. First with yourself and then with others. You cannot let shame, guilt, self-hatred or whatever hold you back. Honesty begets clarity begets fulfilment. If you don’t want to date and settle for someone who isn’t absolutely smitten by you and top-notch romantic, then that is a need. Right or wrong, realistic or not, who the hell cares? A need is a need is a need.
When you lose someone not to death but to life, it’s not quite such a loss. Most times, baby, it’s simply good riddance.
People have a range. For being shitty and for being kind. And while our behaviour may impact a little how they react to us, it's primarily dependent on their personal range. So, if your range of being shit is only 1 to 3, it doesn't matter if someone is an ass hole to you, you won't go beyond 3 of being shit to them, cos that's just your range. Even if they deeply hurt you intentionally or fuck up in some major way. But if their range of being shitty is up to 10, then well, be ready to witness their derangedness when you even slightly piss them off.
Narcissistic (and possibly self-sabotaging) people are the opposite of kintsugi. Instead of being put back together with gold, they "heal" themselves with gutter water. So each time they are worse and more ugly than before. And all the more toxic and dangerous. You're too precious to bother with such people.
It’s natural to feel frustrated or angry with yourself for allowing someone to treat you poorly, but the blame isn’t on you; it’s on them. They are responsible for their unkind, insensitive, selfish actions, not you. If you must place blame, place it where it belongs. Avoid judging yourself with thoughts like, “I should have known better.” As long as you walk away the moment you do know, you’re good – please don’t internalize other people’s unkindness or thoughtlessness.
You cannot get to know someone without giving them a chance. Red flags are not that obvious and you cannot show up authentically in any relationship if you’re on the lookout for them. You have to spend time with a person to begin to find out who they are. That’s the only real way. And when you do and if you realize they are not for you, as I said before, don’t internalize this shit or blame yourself for not being some kind of prophecy and knowing better before you even began.
You are a patient person because you are an understanding person. But there are limits to all these qualities of yours and if the balance is tipped you get petty and passive aggressive and irrational. Don’t let yourself reach that point. Speak up and set boundaries way before that.
If you listen to your gut – I know you don’t like calling it that or your intuition. So, let’s call it that feeling you know bone-deep or in the depths of your soul – if you listen to that and trust it, you are quite courageous in the actions you then take. You broke things off with three men this year – each was painful in its own rite. But you did what you had to do for yourself and you didn’t give the charge of your life to another person, you have taken back your green light – detaching your actions from their behaviour, which like all human behaviour is often quite fickle and unreliable. Congratulations. Do this more. Your green light is your guiding light.
My lack of a “healthy sense of fear” in situations with men isn’t recklessness—it’s the result of abuse I suffered at 15. The man I trusted most turned out to be the one who harmed me the most, and that betrayal shattered my ability to trust safety indicators or instincts. The grooming I endured was designed to confuse me, destabilise my sense of self, and make me question my desires and worth. When the templates of trust and safety failed me so catastrophically, my mind rejected them altogether, leaving me to navigate risk without a stable framework. This year, I felt significantly less restless and more emotionally regulated, and I think it’s because I allowed myself, others, and life to just be. I wasn’t fighting my reality or setting rigid expectations. I stopped chasing dopamine highs and forcing connections, and instead, I let equations with people and experiences unfold organically. I ended dating and talking stages quickly when I realised they weren’t right for me, without guilt or overthinking.4 By being okay with things being normal—not impressive or extraordinary—I created space for balance and gentleness in my life. My self-talk became kinder, and I grew more objective about myself, spiraling and self-loathing less. This accepting mindset, where I no longer needed myself or my life to constantly stand out, felt like the antidote to the restlessness I’d been carrying since my mid-20s. And I think that has helped me discover that peace and acceptance can feel more satisfying than cheap dopamine hits.

I'm going to ask some meaningless questions. Do you think Paul has had sexual relationship with other men? Do you think John was his first male sexual partner? Sometimes I think it could be, because they are best friends. Sometimes I don't think so, because John's control over Paul is too strong, leading Paul to have a strong defensive mindset towards him.
Tl;dr - I do think Paul has hooked up with other men and maybe even dated but I don't think it's anyone that he was publicly friends with.
When it comes to Paul and sex with other men, that's still a black hole making us go "wtf." Technically Paul's first sexual experiences with other men were the group circlejerks and that's actually a very common initiation experience for guys. (All men are spiritually gay. Joking...or am I?) That being said it's pretty safe to say that John was Paul's first one on one experience with another guy. John is the only person Paul trusted enough for that, Paul otherwise does rapid risk assessments and usually (though not always) decides that it's not worth it. Paul does like physical risk and adrenaline but that's more like stuntman stuff. I don't think Paul has sex with other men unless he trusts them absolutely or otherwise has reason to think he won't be harmed by it. That narrows Paul's candidate pool considerably.
I think Paul is really too canny to hook up with anyone he had public ties with. He has a quote floating around where he makes fun of the press because he knew they were looking for a secret flat and a secret mistress hidden away in it and that he was proud of strategizing around that by living with the Ashers for as long as he did. He said that all of his hook ups (with women) were done by going back to the lady's home and doing it there. So he dodged media scandal by simply not having a secret flat with a mistress and a love child hidden away.
I think that Paul would handle his male hook ups the same way. I think that he would be similarly cold and calculating like he is with his female hook ups. He makes sure there is no smoking gun. I find it telling that we only have two real examples of potential datemates for Paul that aren't John: Robert Fraser and Denny Laine. And I believe they're both disqualified based off of what we know about Paul's preferences and his canniness, at least in the context of this specific question.
I don't think that Paul had sex with Robert Fraser because 1) they were friends and 2) Bob was gay. That meant he was the obvious choice for public speculation about Paul having a gay fling. Which meant he was no choice at all in real world terms. That's not to say Paul didn't enjoy manipulating Fraser or that he wasn't willing to dangle the chance at sex in front of him as a carrot to make Fraser do what Paul wanted, but something I've noticed about Groovy Bob is that he was extremely sycophantic and a wet noodle. Paul doesn't respect a suck up. Paul respects people who are good at getting what they want and that wasn't Fraser. He didn't have much in terms of what I would call a backbone, though that doesn't mean he wasn't strong in other ways.
Paul "liked" Robert Fraser the same way Paul "loves" Nancy. Not because he is swept up in some sort of powerful emotion but because Fraser::Nancy are conduits to something Paul needs (that "need" being high society and influence.) And they happily allow Paul to dictate all the terms of their relationship with him. No matter how much of a control freak Paul is, he does not respect people who knuckle under like that. Fraser never stood up to Paul, he allowed Paul to belittle and humiliate him sexually when Paul interrogated him about his sexual experiences at school. Paul took Fraser to Paris with him explicitly to piss John off, a remarkable demonstration of how far Paul was willing to go to use another human being as a game piece in his sex games with John. And Fraser went along with it, demonstrating that he was happy and eager to be controlled and used. And look there's nothing wrong with that if that's your thing but it does indicate to me that he was not trustworthy enough for Paul to have sex with. And Paul is smart enough to know that. Paul likes people with a backbone which is why he put up with Heather Mills for so long. That's not to say that their friendship wasn't genuine or that the quote about "Robert meant freedom" wasn't based in genuine emotion, but Paul always talks about Fraser in materialistic terms. Who Fraser introduced him to, what paintings Fraser got Paul, how useful Fraser was to the Beatles business. Which says a lot about what exactly Paul meant by "freedom."
The other credible candidate that we know of is Denny Laine. It's common speculation that Denny was in a threesome with Paul and Linda which I guess would qualify him as a sexual partner to Paul? But I'm actually hesitant to award that because I don't think a threesome counts as a gay experience due to the presence of Linda. I also think that Paul would not have fucked Denny due to the same reasons he wouldn't have fucked Fraser. If Paul and Denny had sexual contact than Linda was the mitigator and Paul wouldn't have done it one on one. I respect Denny as an artist but he's not someone capable of standing up to Paul, he was permanently on the backfoot because he owed Paul his career. They both knew that and since Denny wasn't willing to give Paul attitude well... Nothing in Paul's character or behavior makes me think he would deign to fuck a sycophant. Which a Denny was, despite his talent and work ethic.
And again there's a big disqualifier that includes both of them: they were men with public ties to Paul, therefore he can't fuck them because that's a liability. Paul has sex with men who take him back to his flat and that he doesn't otherwise know and who don't necessarily care about him.
I don't think there will ever be a satisfactory answer. It's not just John's hold on Paul to consider (though I agree that matters) it's the question of "is Paul willing to fuck or be fucked by a man that isn't John?" And looking at what a control freak Paul is, how wary he is of scandal, it doesn't seem very likely that he'd hook up with other men often if at all. If Paul does have sex with other men then it's in the form of hiring male sex workers and then giving them NDAs that are longer than The Lord of the Rings. And why would he go to all that trouble when he can just have sex with a nice lady, which keeps his reputation intact?
And then there's the question of sexual fidelity and loyalty. I wonder if John was so special to Paul that he doesn't have sex with other men because he feels it would betray John and what they meant to each other. Paul was jealous of John's relationships and I feel safe assuming he hated it when John had sex with other people. So I wonder if Paul would avoid sexual encounters with other men out of loyalty to John and the tattered remains of what they once were.
Personally, I think that Paul does have sex with other men. There's one candidate in particular that I think he was enamored with and would have had a relationship with if things had gone right for once in Paul's life. But the identities of these men will never be known because Paul knows better than to leave evidence behind for anyone to find. And I think it would be infrequent because Paul would feel like he was betraying John and the exclusivity they never had.
I do wonder if Paul and Ringo started having sex in the 1990s but it's not based in anything except that they would be two injured animals comforting each other.
As you can see my answers are all over the place, I've tried to make this come together (lel!!!) into a cohesive whole but it just kind of...refuses. And that's because Paul has done such a good job of keeping this shit locked up tight.

♡ things i incorporate into every attempt
to lock in guaranteed productivity & results !!
how to stop feeling unmotivated and lazy and begin finding your own methods for productivity
i've had many moments of questioning if i'm being productive enough in my shifting attempts. i think the one thing i told myself that helped with these kinds of doubts is: i have so much time. i don't have a time limit to how long i have until i HAVE to shift. though i'm eager, i need to take my time to explore my own boundaries and know what works best for me.
yes, there are some moments more than others where i miss how productive i was in my past days. however, with time comes improvement.
i think it's harder to willingly begin to fail. being productive with my own research and attempts is one of the most crucial things i did. but i didn't just try to depend on research-- i frequently logged my journey and kept up with my own boundaries and preferences. i made my own methods, i thought of my own affirmations, and i shifted on my own time. i have trouble with memorizing methods, so i made my methods short and sweet. 3 steps yet all of them include such important factors for me. that way i can ensure productivity without straining my own memory.
♡ focus.
it's difficult for me to get into a state of mind where i'm shifting my consciousness to another reality if i'm still hung on this one. this is why, i get off of my phone 1 hour-30 minutes before my attempt. i spend that time beginning to connect to my drself and my dr. thinking of my life, my relations, how my day will go, and how i am there. these are my moments of reflecting what the experience will be like, the pros and cons equally.
e.g. let's say i go to a boarding school in my dr. what do my classes look like? which one is my favorite and least favorite? what about my dorm? how frequently do i visit home? who do i room with? how packed is my schedule? that's the kind of stuff i reflect on-- especially because i don't go to a boarding school in my cr. this lets me disconnect from my cr and be able to visualize and ground myself in a much easier way. this is one of the most productive things i can advise someone to do.
productivity comes from the mind- the mind that's traveling. have some consideration for just how much information you can retain. journal! journaling and logging my progress and boundaries did so much for me. i've never been so at peace and organized with my shifting journey until i began keeping track of things like what works for me, what days i'm least stressed, etc. writing everything down helps you reflect on yourself and your progress. this gives such incredible results, especially if you struggle with focusing and finding the right methods and time for you. you must sort yourself out in order to achieve peace and organization.
♡ support
finding a support system that shares productivity and motivates you each day can do an incredible amount of good for you. being around people who share your struggles and build you up can help a lot. it can also be very intimate-- reality shifting is a journey that's meant to be walked through, and if you know you have a bunch of people who are achieving the things you want to, you'll know it's all possible. getting to know those people as well helps you find yourself, especially knowing there are people that are so similar to you achieving anything you want to achieve. not only that, but be your own support system. no one will shift FOR you. shifting is a journey you walk through with yourself primarily. no one can find you your own preferences or make you a method that'll work for you, no one has seen the world through your eyes. no one has seen you through yourself. this is all a journey of self reflection and building yourself. looking at realities where you're someone you've always wanted to be. looking at new environments, and appreciating everything you have.
make the journey fun
no one else will do it for you ♡
love, zia.

I always enjoy writing updates on the royal family in these books, but I am having such fun expanding Simon's character and writing his banter with Ylias. I haven't gotten to write an older character who doesn't start out visibly struggling, and Simon's just kind of a dude who loves romance and enjoys being functionally king of chefs in Fons-Askaz.
Simon and Ylias had what I'm calling a "Ene-meet" over some cheese and the next time she saw him she called him Mr. Ricotta (I may try and make this better -- I'd like some kind of French pun where she basically calls him "white guy" while also calling him some form of cheese) and while they've since mostly buried the hatchet because they have to work together on the Reclamation Day festival, they are both enjoying pretending they're still smarting over it.
"Can you do all this..." Ylias gestured at their lists, "for Reclamation Day and also do the catering? Because I feel like we do throw around at least enough weight to make someone else take that over."
"Hm, there is a lot to supervise. A practical consideration, thank you," he said, absently flipping through his own notes. "I will find someone reliable enough to serve His Majesty but also young enough to still be impressed by the request. Which leaves remaining only the cooking competition."
"Not to complain, but this seems like a really random thing to have at Reclamation Day," Ylias said. "It's not a village fete or something."
"It began as a sort of grudge, years ago," he said. "Two cooks had a dispute; they declared to decide for one or the other on Reclamation Day -- in public, with the public's help in settling the matter. It proved very popular, and of course if there are a dozen people all competing, the results can be sold for funds for charity."
"So we're supposed to set this up, set the theme, and source the judges," Ylias said.
"Set-up is already arranged -- the judging tent is always in the same place. They only have to bring in their example of the challenge recipe and lay it out."
"I guess it's a little on the nose for this year's theme to be like...an Eddie Rambler classic recipe."
He smiled. "We may consider it but also, consider: are you aware of..." his voice dropped. "The Trash Tower?"
She nodded.
"Imagine a tent full of examples of Shivadh twists on the Trash Tower," he said.
"It doesn't look like Dante's inferno, but it doesn't not," she said. "Maybe another thing we want to ask about at the next meeting?"
"I think so. For judges, usually a member of the royal family, but also then someone who knows food, and sometimes a famous person if one can get one."
"Can we?"
"I would as soon not," LeFevre replied, which Ylias couldn't argue with. "I think perhaps for the royals, Princeps Joan would like to judge. Or if her fathers would prefer she does not, Duke Gerald. He would pretend it was his little one judging, give her some of everything to try, pretend he knows what she says. Very funny."
"Want me to tap someone with food chops from the town?" Ylias asked.
"Yes, but speak with me before you ask them, just to be sure."
"Yep, I wouldn't mind a road map to all the faux pas I could make," she muttered.
"Ah, well. I wouldn't let anyone cut you; I've already seen you at your worst and it is frankly somewhat mild," he said.
"I think I'm almost more insulted about being considered mediocre than I am that you won't let it go," she replied.
"We all need time to recover our wounds," he said gravely. "Another few years, perhaps, and I will begin to consider healing."
"Man, I didn't know calling you Mr. Ricotta would devastate you so completely."
He closed the notebook with a snap, smiling.
"And I must somehow go on, and fetch my groceries," he said.

The Fear of being Censored Or Unaccepted
Today's post is something I'm so touched about. This topic is something so close to me as a writer, as a reader, and a Queer myself, I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and I am standing tall in front of everyone. I spent so many years fearing this part of myself because of the judgment of people, I lost my last job for it, but I do not care, because I think if someone judges a human being only based on who they are sleeping with, then I prefer to be a home mom, than break my back for someone who doesn't value my capabilities as an accountant, a proofreader, Translator or the Graphic Designer I sweat seven shirts to be. I know my value and I won't bow again in front of someone else lying to myself just because some people do not like it, family, bosses, or anything else.
Said that I am working with other marvelous people on a writing project as you saw in my other profile @reginakoilos, and some days ago we had a conversation about censorship. It scares the hell off many people, and it worries a lot of people, but I think that this is still a free World, we have rights, we have creativity and NOBODY can tell us what to write about.
Sadly I've passed this before and I've learned that the only way to avoid it and fight it is to stand tall and not bow.
If I can I will give you some pieces of advice right here:
Don't lose yourself: The first rule is to be loyal to yourselves, if you want to write about LGBTQIA+, Hetero, or Whatever you want to write about Just Do It! Nobody can say to you what to or what not to write. But always remember To Be Respectful.
Auto-Publish: This method of publishing will be your best friend, at least at the start. You will be able to gain money writing what you love, as you love, and Because you love. You won't need a Publisher at the beginning. Besides Internet is way too Vast to censor each and every "uncommon" content!
Marketing: This is the rule of the rules, advertising your product will help you gain public and start your little niche of readers.
Stay away from people who ask you to write only about "common" couples: Nobody has to ask you that, NEVER, because creativity is something subjective and doesn't need to be stopped by those requests. Most of all because with that people can start to feel a bit uneasy and unaccepted.
Never accept compromises regarding the sexuality of your characters: I don't know how you see that, but I honestly consider my characters as a little piece of my mind and they are fruits of hard work and deep thoughts and you must be strong enough to fight for what YOU created with a lot of effort and patience.
Whatever comment will come your way, remember: Only constructive Criticism must be taken into consideration, all the rest is trash and must be something not to consider.

Another topic I came across during this past week, is the horrendous practice of Shaming others, for their diversity, and their way of choosing Characters and making them appear in some way instead of another. I mean, we are in 2025, how can it be possible to read comments of hate like that? 1. Every character is a creation of the writer and the latter has ALL and EVERY right to make the OC however they decide.
2. Why get so mad if someone writes about a chubby character instead of a skinny one? Cannot it have the same appreciation? Every character has its own sexuality, physique, strength, and flaws, they are all different!
3. Every person around here has the right to speak their own mind, of course, but the rule must be always the same RESPECT, something that is missing apparently during this last period.
I really hope next time or if it happens for the first time, you will be strong enough to send back those comments to the sender, because NOBODY has the right to tell you how to write or what.
I speak for myself, I can give advice, but all is up to you.

PAIRINGS | Model! Mafia! Member Junkyu x Model! Fem! Reader
GENRE | Suspense, Mafia Au, MILDLY Suggestive (mdni)
WORD COUNT | 1.3k
SYNOPSIS | Kim Junkyu lives a life of luxury, being a famous model with millions of fans, but maybe that is only the side the screens show…
WARNINGS | Small hints of murder, strong(ish) mafia themes, Junkyu is a little bit of a brat, manipulation topics, swear words, overall it's kinda wholesome.
NETWORK(S) | @starlit-network @k-library @blossomnet
A/N | HI! This fic is mainly in Junkyu's point of view because I wanted to try a new format of writing, overall, I hope you enjoy reading and I am very sorry and not uploading ;)... I've been a little inactive lately, but I'm going to try to comeback. Yes, I will be continuing my series (atz yh) but keep in mind that I only posted the first chapter to see how it went, not to continue it for the moment, so yes I'll continue writing it and will post the remaining chapters when they're ready :)!
“If you expect that raise, then you best bring me the best information you can find,” he demanded.
Junkyu sighed, placing his hands behind his back as a form of respect.
“I'm already one of the biggest celebrities in Seoul; I'm sure however much money it'll be I wouldn't need it.…” he muttered, watching his boss turn around as he lowered himself.
Sometimes he couldn't hold back his form of speech.
“It'll be lots of money, so I recommend reconsidering those words.” He scolded, figuring Junkyu wouldn't pay much more of his attention as he simply nodded and made his way back towards the door, bowing on his way out.
He exited through the back, entering the vehicle through the Limo’s door as his bodyguard drove away.
Though he was still processing his bosses words, he couldn't help but recall them so vividly every time they recurred in his mind.
The more he thought the more he noticed that everything he did for the organization was practically useless, but what more could he expect from being a member of a mafia.
He'd done countless of unexplainable things, but it was all for a good cause, and that was something others couldn't understand.
Maybe if he had just quit the moment he began his career as a model, it would all be normal. But then again, maybe it was simply the fear of stalkers finding out that secret that had been long buried, exposing him to the public for millions of people to misunderstand; or possibly it was the thought of them blackmailing him with it.
He preferred not to think about it.
The car’s door opened as he was greeted by screaming crowds and millions of paparazzis speaking over each other and invading personal space as they pushed their mics up to his face.
Politely, he declined the interview attempts and chuckled while making his way inside the modeling agency.
“Look who's here.” A female voice teased from ahead as he waved goodbye to the fans positioned outside.
He smirked in a teasing manner, deciding to add more fuel to the fire by approaching her with that same mocking demeanor.
“I wasn't expecting to see you here my lady.” He finally spoke, beginning to walk in the direction of his stylists room.
“There was a change of plans.” She shrugged.
He nodded in understanding; a sense of satisfaction washing over him as she wasn't known for frequent schedules. Encountering her brought him some sense of genuine joy.
“L/n Y/n!” A voice echoed from the distance causing her to glance back towards the source of her name. There stood her manager, a considerable distance away with a puzzled expression.
Finally, he began walking up to her, politely greeting the familiar face which had been all over recent magazines and TV commercials.
“What are you doing? Your turn is coming up." he asked, prompting her to nod in acknowledgment as she looked back at her friend.
“I need to head out, my shoot is up soon.” She chuckled, and he nodded, observing her walk away peacefully with her manager into her stylists room.
He turned around, not needing to turn his head to become aware of the coming presence.
“Junkyu.” A voice lingered in the air. Junkyu turned his head and there stood the person he had mostly anticipated.
Park Jihoon, a model from a big agency with a huge fanbase. Not only that but he also seemed to release banger music.
Jihoon also happened to be one of the main sources to the mafia's disposal. There was nothing he wasn't good at.
“Did they give you your next investigation to carry out?” He questioned, a look of prolepsis crossing his eyes as the words exited his mouth, almost as if he knew what was coming.
“L/n Y/n is a girl who keeps many dark secrets, one being her history with her parents. I need you to collect as much as you can about her and her family history due to this being a case of importance.”
“L/n Y/n and her family history.” He muttered to which Jihoon sighed.
“I asked them to give it to someone else, guess they never listened to me.” He chuckled awkwardly, causing Junkyu to glance back at him in confusion.
“Pardon me?” He asked.
Jihoon looked back, thinking for a moment until he glanced around, making direct eye contact with a security camera as he watched it shut off.
“They mentioned they'd give you her case, but I urged them not to as she's someone you're close with. I guess that's what they're looking for however.”
They walked into the stadium, forgetting about their shoots and simply deciding to just watch the other models and their shoots.
Watanabe Haruto was up: someone Junkyu always admired for his insane visuals and incredible acting abilities. He'd been trying different poses over a white background wall. Many other famous models and celebrities sat around them as they watched their colleagues in awe.
Jihoon and Junkyu picked their own table, a safe distance away from any other guest.
“It's alright, afterall, I'm sure she'll be relieved once her family’s out of the picture.” He sighed, looking up at an already shut off camera.
He looked back at the famous young star, smiling as his expressions changed depending on the mood his supervisors were aiming for.
You were up next, and he was left impatiently waiting for your familiar face to come up, smirking the moment it finally did.
“Seeing her here is only making things easier for me in a matter of fact.”
***
‘L/n Y/n is dating Kim Junkyu?’
‘Are L/n Y/n and Kim Junkyu a couple?’
‘Alleged leaked photos caught L/n Y/n and Kim Junkyu kissing.’
It was all over social media and he knew it. It was also likely the cause for why he was called up to his bosses office so suddenly one morning.
After multiple deep breaths, he finally opened the door to see his boss holding multiple files worth of informational papers, slamming them flat onto his arms the moment he approached his desk.
“What the hell are you thinking Kim Junkyu!?” He scolded.
Junkyu rolled his eyes very lightly, looking back at his boss with eyes of acknowledgement.
“I can't control what fans think-”
“But you can control what you do!” He once again yelled, making Junkyu flinch ever so slightly. He knew he was right.
Multiple moments of silence passed with no one saying a word.
“Alright. I'll shut down the rumors later today. We have another shooting event in the evening, where I believe L/n will be attending.”
His boss stared in intimidation, ultimately nodding to his apology and accepting it, shooing him away shortly after.
Junkyu didn't have an exact plan on how to do so, but he knew that it was all simply a lie. The main regulation of this organization was the strictly prohibited lovers rule.
But he was their most crucial piece.
And you, were his lady ever darling.
“Junkyu!” You called from afar, once more approaching him as he stared at you, smiling while doing so.
“I'm glad you made it.” He teased as you shook your head in playful annoyance, rolling your eyes in the process.
“I don't miss every event.” You defended, making him nod.
“I'm aware, my lady.”
You didn't realize when he dragged you into that secluded room, gripping your arms with an undeniable strength as he pinned you up against the wall.
Staring in utter confusion, you watched him move closer to you, constantly bringing your faces closer and closer together.
He smirked seeing your flustered expression.
“What do you say we put an end to these rumors my lady?” He asked.
You gulped, face burning as your cheeks turned a light red color.
“I.. I agree, it'll get in the way of our careers.” You assured, attempting to get out of the entire situation.
“Then shall we do so? What do you say we put an end to them by making them a reality?”

🫀The Heart's Savior.
Today I want to discuss a fairly complex topic that I will have to divide into three parts. I do not know when I will publish the remaining two, but I will certainly try to be as quick as possible to complete it as soon as possible. Well, the title of this topic is clearly a pun. King Kai would probably love it, because as you can imagine the word "heart" is musically related to the word "earth." This creates a close connection between two terms that are absolutely linked in Dragon Ball. The point is that in our story we often talk about earth's saviors, which is normal since the goal is to save the planet at all costs. However, it seems to me that nowhere is it written that only muscles and ultra-powered energy balls are always needed to protect the earth. Sometimes the heroic gesture happens even beyond the battlefield, and it does not even have to be addressed to the whole world. It would be enough to help even one person, and that could make all the difference. From this point of view Yamcha has done a lot, but unfortunately his good deeds have always gone unnoticed or foolishly ignored. So today I will try to bring back to the forefront his personal heroism, which as far as I am concerned had its little best between the Androids Saga and the Cell Saga.
I will divide the three parts in a temporal sense. The first part will be about the past, the second part about the present, and the third part about the future, so that it will be very clear to everyone how Yamcha's contribution has seriously saved the whole arc of Dragon Ball.
So... Let's not waste any more time!
Are you ready, wolfpack? Let's get started!
PART 1: The Past.
In order to better understand all that will follow, it is good to specify once again what Yamcha's role in the story consists of: he is basically a support. This does not mean that his character automatically takes a back seat, but simply that his personality causes him to behave in a certain way, surely different from all the other warriors who immediately take the field. Many people laugh that Yamcha is a coward who prefers to shy away from battles, but that is not true. Yamcha is there. He has always been there, and no matter what, he has always tried in his own way to help.
Few people notice it, but I cannot help but realize how in these two arcs he has fought the most dangerous battle of all. No, guys, I am not joking or overestimating the character. Keep following me and you will understand better.
The chapter "The Past" is perhaps the one that most shows what I think, as well as the most important. Here we will talk about the one and only Goku, who has been part of Yamcha's life since the days when they were a child and a young boy respectively. You know, the one between Yamcha and Goku is a long-term friendship. Think of it, it is even longer lasting than the friendship between Kuririn and Goku, since he met the bald kid some time after meeting the desert bandit. I know that time is relative when it comes to relationships, but I only want to emphasize this precisely to point out how much more intertwined Yamcha and Goku's lives are than you might think. For this reason, Goku won the first chapter. It is a symbolic way of saying that Yamcha cannot help but give thanks to his past.
Let's go in order.
The Androids and Cell Saga is certainly one of the most fascinating and memorable. The plot is considerably more intricate, a historical enemy, the Red Ribbon Army, returns, and most importantly we have the full Z-Fighters for the entire duration of the story arc. What is most beautiful is that everyone, in one way or another, makes a contribution, even those thought to be "weaker". For example, Tenshinhan's intervention trying to stop Cell's second transformation from absorbing Android 18 is unforgettable.
But... what about Yamcha? It really seems that he did not do much in the battle, but that is not the case. Well, he certainly fought less than Piccolo and Vegeta, but that doesn't mean he helped less than the others. First of all, we must take into account an absolutely essential event that strongly influenced Yamcha's future actions: upon the arrival of androids 19 and 20 he was the first to risk death. No, I should correct myself: he almost died. Had it not been for the Senzu bean, he would surely have died within a very few minutes, and even if he eventually survived, that does not mean that Yamcha has forgotten the pain he felt from that horrid hand completely perforating his chest.
This is a a full-fledged trauma. Not only that, it is also an epiphany for him, because at that moment he realizes that he is unable to cope with two such terribly strong monsters. Think how discouraging it must have been for him to have to accept the fact that he was knocked out practically at the beginning. If we then want to add that all this coincides with the separation from Bulma, which he certainly did not take well, let us say that this period was not the best for his already fragile personality hidden behind his great charisma.
However, a little later something extraordinary happens. It is a scene that I personally find as moving as it is realistic, simply because Yamcha proves once again that he is the most human of all. Unfortunately, this scene is seen by everyone as Yamcha's usual ridiculous moment, but the truth is that this is where he demonstrates all his greatness. I'm talking about the time when Goku suddenly gets sick from the disease and someone necessarily has to accompany him home to start treatment. Gohan is the first to offer, of course he is his father and cannot do otherwise, but he is immediately stopped by Yamcha who offers to do it for him.

This is the first time ever that Yamcha puts aside the pride that has often made him tenderly cocky and admits in front of everyone that he is the weaker one. I would have many things to say about this consideration of him, because I strongly believe that his problem is precisely that he has come to hasty opinions of himself precisely because of his fragile personality, but I will not discuss that now. Here, an interesting point is that he calls it pathetic to stand aside, but he is very wrong. There is nothing pathetic about accepting one's limitations and giving way to someone more capable. It is also a very good strategy. If Gohan had left, the chances of others being defeated would have been much higher. Taking away a strong member of the team would have only made things worse, so it makes sense that it should have been the least strong person to leave. This to me is the most exemplary test of courage of all. In Dragon Ball we have always seen proud, swaggering characters constantly bragging about their strength, but few times have we seen someone take a step back because staying might have only gotten in the way. The hole in his uniform is the greatest demonstration of this. You can see that he is ashamed of it, that a silent anger simmers inside him and that all the frustration accumulated over those years has reached its peak, but boy, let's just say that in saying that he is more badass than those who do not accept being second best. That's why I say Yamcha is incredible. He is the only one who took a step backward, not knowing that by doing so he was able to go beyond. This is the way of life. At some point you stop running aimlessly, you look inside yourself, and you realize that in order to move forward you must also know how to go back. That's what Mr. Popo had told him to do, but he was too young and blustery to listen to him. And that's okay. He's a human, let's never forget that.
I could end here. Yamcha leaving the group and entrusting the mission to heroes stronger than himself, but this is where the fun begins.

Just before getting up in the air, Piccolo warns him that there may be a risk that Goku's illness may be viral. This means that Yamcha, being in close contact with the infected, risks contracting the virus as much as the saiyan did. Actually, it is not confirmed anywhere that the virus is contagious. Piccolo assumed this from Trunks' words when he explained to Goku what would happen in a few years.

We only know with certainty that senzu can do nothing against this disease and especially that not even a super saiyan can recover from this illness. Did you get it right? This means that an earthling is totally unable to survive this disease. I mean, if a saiyan has no chance, a human being is triply doomed. We are back to square one. Yamcha is risking his life again, and this time against an absolutely unbeatable enemy that has defeated even Goku. Do you understand? Goku. If there was a margin of possibility to beat the androids, in this case it is completely impossible. So by agreeing to help Goku, consequently Yamcha also agrees that he can surely die. But this time he is not backing down. This time he is sure of what he is doing, just because his greatest goal is not to survive and avoid death but to support in his own way. Coward, huh? From here it is clear how dying is not his problem at all. Or rather, it is, but it does not matter if it means helping the one he loves and, in this case, the one who could save the entire planet.

This is how Yamcha's true nature comes out. Actually it is possible to notice it long before, but this time it is practically evident. I imagine him constantly searching for his place in the world, but the truth is that he has already found it, he just hasn't realized it yet. He hasn't realized that his job on the team is precisely to take care of everyone, even more than a magic bean can. It is a shame that even the authors did not realize this aspect of him. What the hell... Seriously, did no one notice how heroic Yamcha was at this point in the story? He remains there with him, keeping vigil for his friend, and with great bravery faces a battle in which emotions are also at stake.

The scenes in which Chichi and Yamcha care for Goku are among the sweetest in all of Dragon Ball. Yamcha is not required to stay because Chichi is already in the house, but he once again makes himself available to help as much as he can. Notcing how Goku struggles in pain, Yamcha's strength may be needed to block the saiyan and prevent him from unintentionally hurting himself or Chichi. What's more, assuming a worsening of the disease, thanks to the ability of flight Yamcha could transport him anywhere else in no time.

In some ways, he is also taking care of Chichi. A wife who sees her husband in so much pain can never cope alone, she needs support, comfort, someone to tell her that everything will be all right, and Yamcha is absolutely perfect for this role.

No one else among the Z-Fighter would be able to instill serenity in Chichi as Yamcha does. His patient, friendly temperament, always ready to reassure anyone, has surely prevented her from any crisis or attack of fear. One can well see how Yamcha's sensitivity goes beyond fine words. His mental elasticity leads him to reason quickly about all possible eventualities, so without a second thought he even suggests that Chichi take the medicine with him. Yet more proof of how he really loves everyone.

For example, this is a scene that explains very well what I mean. We're talking about filler, but I don't care. Whoever decided to do them must have understood that Yamcha deserved more. It is only a small detail, but at least it is highlighted how Yamcha's presence was crucial for Chichi and Goku himself. Here we can see Goku once again being sick, so Yamcha warns Chichi to retrieve the medicine again, but when she rushes to look for it she cannot find it, perhaps because she is so panicked that she does not understand anything more for a few moments. Sensing her confusion, Yamcha turns toward her and in no time comes to her rescue, pointing her to the exact spot where the medicine is. She grabs it and so Goku can once again stop suffering. I like to think that Yamcha's sixth sense, or ultimately his well-developed spirit of observation, helped him easily memorize where the medicine was at that time. His cool-headedness, coupled with his gentleness, were definitely a staple in Goku and Chichi's most intimate and fragile moment.

He also does so during the Cell Game, and this time together with another great character who deserves equally: Tenshinhan. This is one of my favorite scenes. Two great friends of Goku, initially villains and then both reformed to become his allies, stand before Goku when he is in trouble, to protect him from the Cell Juniors. It doesn't really matter that they are not strong enough to defend him forever, but just being there for him, acting as his human barrier, is one of the best moments. When I say that they could create a lot of good content for Earthlings, I am also referring to these kinds of scenes. It would be nice if they could recapture the atmosphere of this arc, where everyone lends a hand and everyone fights in their own way, even if they don't necessarily win.
Well… I know I've said as much as I know I could still say as much. I would just like to point out something. Doesn't it also seem to you that Yamcha is a bit like a guardian angel for Goku? Pay attention to that. Yamcha took care of Goku at the very time when he was most vulnerable. This shows how he has always been that big brother to him who has always watched over him. He took care of his heart at a time when not even a senzu could help him feel better, and going back to the past… He took care of Goku even in his most unconscious state, which is when he transforms into the Great Ape. The first time, being the only one who realized that his weak point was his tail, he had managed to stop him by cutting it off with Puar's help. But it is when Goku transforms for the second time that Yamcha shows off all his love for his friend, running up to Jackie Chun to stop him from hurling the kamehameha at the monster.

In the end, the moon was the target, but Yamcha and the others certainly could not have imagined that. I find it extremely emotional to see him desperate and ready to even hurt himself in order to prevent the death of his little friend.
As you can see, protecting Goku has always been part of Yamcha's instinct, and it is a pity that many have forgotten or ignored it. He is the character who most of all is moved by love, in every possible sense.
Therefore, while someone else gets the title of Earth's Savior, Yamcha absolutely wins that of Heart's Savior.
He's not pathetic. He's a true hero.
Well thank you, guys, for getting this far, whoever did it. Stay tuned for the other two parts of this topic and remember to never stop loving this beautiful wolf!

something that bugs me about white feminism is this need to make every text written pre world war one about women's liberation.
(I am explicitly talking about Little Women. there are other texts that I'm sure can be interpreted like this (such as Jane Austen) but this is my focus here.)

this is the shit I'm talking about.
according to this article, Little Women has been remembered incorrectly because all the girls eventually get married and therefore lose their ambitions. this article is in itself saddling them with specific ambitions they never had. Meg's biggest goal was to marry someone she loved, which happened. Jo's biggest goal is to become a writer, which she does! And Amy's biggest goal is to be an artist, which she also accomplishes.
then there's Beth.

the implications of this article, and this quote in particular, are that Beth is the only truly feminist of the sisters because she doesn't have a goal of marriage.
Lou Alcott's own sister died young of a chronic illness. Beth was an explicit dedication to this sister. the reason Beth doesn't marry (or consider it) is *because* she's chronically ill. she knows that considering marriage is a moot point because she won't live that long. this aspect of the story isn't supposed to highlight feminism as much as ableism in the 19th century and Beth's understanding that she doesn't have the time to think about long term things like marriage. ignoring this is an insult to Beth's namesake.
you may be wondering why I said Lou instead of Louisa. yeah, the author of Little Women was actually a trans man. he preferred to go by Lou and genuinely never cared for women's things. he wrote Little Women about his family and didn't expect it to become such a popular novel.
this brings me to Jo. Jo is the most self insert character I've ever seen. everything about Jo reflects Lou. and Jo is *heavily* implied to be trans masc. in the first half of the story, she says "I can't get over my disappointment of not being a boy." she cuts her hair short so she can "donate it for money". this is very considerate! also, not a cis woman move to pull. she always goes by Jo, a shortened, masculine version of her name. only Aunt March ever calls her Josephine and she loathes that.
insisting that Little Women be a "feminist masterpiece" ignores the truly intersectional matters that it does talk about. sure, they all get married, but Jo refuses Teddy because she's genuinely not interested. yes, Beth dies, but her character honours Lou's sister and the chronically ill folks that never got a chance because their conditions weren't yet understood.
sometimes the most feminist thing to do is to sit down and listen to other people.
