nothing (besides everyone ignoring Orym's deal) has made me angrier than watching Dorian keep up this facade. Dorian Storm has always been a type of mask he's worn. At first he called himself a liar because of it. The happy go lucky bard was a way of escaping for him. He was escaping Brontë so he created Dorian. He didn't believe he was Dorian. Until the Crown Keepers made Dorian real. And for a while, he really believed he was Dorian. That he has this new family and new life and he could be who he truly wanted to be.

And then his brother came back and made his problems Dorian's problems. Until he had to put Brontë back on. Because even if the Crown Keepers + Cyrus called him Dorian, he was Brontë. He had to be who his brother thought he was.

When Cyrus dies, the thread to Brontë had snapped. He was going to see Orym, back to the Bells Hells, back to Dorian Storm. But the foundation of Dorian had shattered. Dorian was created in order to run from his place in life, family, Cyrus. Now he was gone. The Crown Keepers had fallen apart. His friends fell through his fingers and he couldn't do anything to stop it. He was once ready to side with a betrayer god for these people and now they're in the wind.

So Dorian shows back up to Bells Hella and he's completely broken. The foundation of both of his lives has been thoroughly rocked. No brother. No Crown Keepers. The two things that forged Dorian Storm. He wears that mask so fucking well. Because he still wants to believe in it. He said it live on stage that he should "believe his own backstory". The one he made up. The one where he was a bard.

He wants to be Dorian so bad. He spends all his money on Orym, he spins the bottle so he can kiss his friends, he flirts, he blushes and giggles at compliments. Exactly how Dorian would, should.

But he wears the gold of the heir. He has a festering animosity inside his chest. He doesn't sleep. He's thinner than he was. He doesn't sleep. He sicks abominations after their creators. He talks to God's without an ounce of self preservation, daring them to strike him down. He does not acknowledge them as they taunt him.

The god of beauty and magic calls him beautiful and he does not smile.

I feel like a huge part of his character's motivation is that he wanted people to respect and like him. He wanted to be looked up to, seen as a hero. He felt like if he was famous, he'd finally be safe from the ridicule and abuse he'd been facing since he was far, far too young.

Which is why it kind of breaks my heart a little that even after his ultimate betrayal, even after he gave up everything, he still isn't. Nobody at the Institution seems to respect him. He is talked down to by the Director, nobody in the public seemed particularly charmed by him anymore, the moment he's demoted all his fellow knights/guards start talking to and treating him like shit which implies they never really respected him to begin with.

I imagine he had this big dream of being a pillar in the community and being looked up to and respected, seen as an inspiration for kids like him, homeless, hungry, frightened children without futures. Only to be regarded as a pompous symbol of a bygone era.

Re: the latest helluva boss short, i REFUSE to believe that blitzø is bad in the sack. i just refuse that notion all together. i do believe he has zero technique whatsoever though, because he relies heavily on confidence and on his excellent capability of reading people.

See, thats all you need to be a sex god imo. If youre skilled enough at reading peoples reactions properly, you dont need technique because you dont need generalisation, you figure out what that SPECIFIC person likes. and that makes you invaluable to their eyes. i do believe two things, one is that blitzø enjoys cracking open that mistery and exploring what makes someone tick, two is that he is extremely observant and good at reading people/situations (exes and oohs is a great example of this, both in how he clocked the drugged drink right away and how he slept with chaz to get info), aside from also being quite versatile, handy and extremely adaptable.

Third thing i believe is that blitz is also DEFINITELY all over the place, so sometimes he may also be bad at sex because he can also be selfish and self centered, so he may not care enough to pay attention to the other person at times. But he has the capability to be great in bed is all im saying.

So what i believe happens in the short is, first of all as other people have said he has some complicated feelings about this crystal. Because of course. So maybe he doesnt even feel like pleasuring a stupid crystal when he should be pleasuring stolas, thank you very much!! And also the crystal is an inanimate thing, he cant really gauge a reaction from it so he would have to rely solely on technique, which he lacks 😋

Things I feel so strongly about that they stumble into my mind, univited, at random times of the day? Things that spill into my speech and vocabulary without me noticing? Things that impact my vision to the point where everywhere I look, everywhere I go, I see ghosts of them?

How lucky am I to have so many Things I love and cherish enough for them to reshape my very person, change my beliefs and make me grow? Things that make my own loved ones see the Things out in the wild, and go out of their way to make sure I see them too?

How wonderful is it that I have Things that I love so much that the very act is deemed and dubbed "not normal", making my love for them seem like it's more than they are supposed to recieve? Look, one of the fundamental things I keep an eye on for DC writers these days is "is this person plotting a story arc that has sufficient escape valves in case of cancellation".

Because, realistically, even if you've been handed a headline title and an ongoing run, any writer should be tying off their story every 12 months and immediately before every major company-wide event. They shouldn't need to yank that cord, but you can always tell the difference between someone who has figured out how to exit their arc in advance and has just had to compress the story, and someone who's been caught on the hop (for active examples of this, go read literally any comic leading in to either Infinite Crisis or Flashpoint, as everyone got shuffled on their titles after both. You can see when teams were informed they were about to lose their books and when books were needed for the event in terms of how the stories all suddenly pivot to Getting Stuff Done ASAP).

There is also the evil cousin, 'run extended beyond expected plotting and ideas' which can show up but obviously is a rarer beast to spot.

Honestly technically as an adult show for adults Stolas x Blitzo doesn’t actually… have to be good and healthy or what have you guys. Like at all. Not even a little bit.

It doesn’t have to be a Moral Lesson akin to Steven Universe or what have you because the audience is adults, not children. Can you imagine if iwtv was written that way? Like for kids? If they tried to sand off the edges for Louis and Lestat? It would be insufferable.

It’s kind of weird though because (I dropped the show three eps into season two) I’m getting the impression from what I’m hearing is that show… thinks that it is. Healthy I mean. Or is Trying to Impart a Lesson like said kids shows. Or is at least ignorant of the actual issues contained in the relationship as portrayed in season one: and deciding to blame Blitzo for Stolas’ issues?

Like it’d be actually cool if they actually explored the fact Stolas clearly festishises imps. Like I have said before it could contrast his wife’s own bigotry with regards the hierarchy in hell.

Instead of the boring childhood friend obsession you could have this just be a thing for Stolas. Blitzo is just another notch on the bedpost. Stolas could even be known do this sometimes. Perhaps he scouts the lust ring a lot. He knows Asmodeus well in this scenario. Perhaps instead Stolas focuses on a singular imp for a while as his affair partner and then dumps them with varying degrees of subtlety. Everyone is aware whichever way it is. And yet maybe he does in fact catch feelings this time around for Bltizo. But it’s not enough. He can’t be trusted. Even if the feelings are real how the hell can anyone believe it?

Honestly when Stella was screaming at Stolas about the motel I (at the time) thought he was fucking someone other than Blitzo! I wasn’t sure if it was the servant Stella was throwing around but I wouldn’t have been surprised.

This is a show for adults for gods sake why are you being so limp handed about this. Season two has a big increase in Stolas content and set about making him boring. It’s kind of like the show tried to go for this weird middle ground between adult and child show and didn’t even quite hit the teenage area either because it just doesn’t jive with what came before.
