Do you ever just lay awake at night, turning over in your head the stark difference in delivery between Hewson's Van saying--steadily, unshakably--"it's just something that's happening to you...happening to us" and Cypress' Taissa saying--imploringly, whiningly--"this was not just my dream, this was our dream"?

Do you ever just turn it over and over, how often Tai tried to scare Van away, and how it only made Van set her feet more firmly? How Taissa's first love was this person who saw a problem fall into Taissa's lap, a problem that was quite literally trapped inside Taissa's body, and decided unflinchingly: No, that's an us problem now? How she refused point-blank to walk away even with blood in her mouth, how she flatly informed Tai "I'm never gonna be scared of you", and promptly turned a moment of pain into a declaration of love? And how this would etch itself into Taissa for the rest of her life? How she'd take these things that worked with Van--with the person Van was, with the bond they shared--and try so hard to run through an identical script with Simone?

Except Simone is her own person. A completely different kind of person. A person who hasn't been offered any of the context, any of the realities going on inside Taissa. So: naturally she doesn't respond the way Van did at eighteen--and will go on to do all over again in her forties. Naturally, she hears our dream as the excuse it is, not as a plea for connection. Naturally, she is scared away when Taissa pushes, and shouts, and begs. Because there isn't blood in her mouth, not yet, but there will be. And they have a son to worry about. And she isn't eighteen and a special kind of immortal, a special kind of romanticized. She's a grown woman with responsibilities, with priorities, with an understanding that you can't fix someone just because you love them. And Tai can't just perform a revival of the play she and Van had memorized twenty-five years later with a whole new performer in the works, and expect it to shake out the same.

Of course it doesn't work. But look at Taissa trying it. Look at Taissa trying to reframe her first love through a new lens. Trying to recast it. Trying to play it through again. Van taught her love was sticking out the blood, shaking off the pain, making a you problem into an us problem. Does it ever just eat at you, how tragic it is, watching Taissa try to shape her marriage around a woman who isn't even wearing a ring?

Side Notes: I didn't add any of the actual players for simplicity's sake, but I did add characters played by the CCs that aren't their main characters such as Arin, ElQuackity, and Sapo Peta.

It will be too complicated to add ex-alliances and spy-related stuff... but if I did! Jaiden will be between the "knows the federation" and "sides with the players" and Etoiles will be between "understands the codes" and "sides with the players" just because there are no real secrets about it if you watch their POVs.

Oh ok. I get now why a lot of people didn't vibe with the ending.

All and all: excellent manga, overall very good final act, too rushed final 2-3 chapters but weak and honestly mediocre epilogue, which makes the high of the ending kind of leave a bitter taste. I think Noda had a good steed and suddenly he had to finish and had to rush all. So the ending in the sense of the final arc was good but the ending proper (final couple chapters) + epilogue......... Not so much

Something about me most people on here don't know is that I am a savant when it comes to specifically console overwatch, and I enjoy OverWatch in general, though I find the company Activision Blizzard to be a troubling and fucking stupid organization that has no competent leadership and no focus on Artistic integrity or creativity, they only want to make a shitload of money. After all, that's why they went from blizzard to Activision Blizzard, to maximize the most profits while completely disregarding half of all the content they could actually make any sort of money off of Simply by being creative.

Like y'all I love a game that has been maligned for far too long by a company that keeps laundering the same nine Concepts and sitting on really good IPS, on top of just exploiting the shit out of its workers, and killing people's interests simply by giving them no reason to look forward to anything. Like Activision Blizzard sucks so goddamn much and I need everyone to understand that my enjoyment of OverWatch is only because it is one of the few shooter games I can competently and effectively play comfortably.

It's also one of the only shooter games I like the Aesthetics of because it's optimistic, it feels interesting, it's not so far in the future that it's hyper advanced, but it's not so close or realistic that it's extremely unbelievable. Half of the charm of what makes OverWatch fun is the fact that the characters look cartoony, but the world feels simultaneously grounded and unreal, like it's superheroes but not too super, you know? And I like that aesthetic, I liked the PVE that they had in line before they scrapped it, I liked pretty much everything about OverWatch 2 and then the company just fucking kept butchering it because it was trying to keep up with other games instead of just making its own game stand out. I will never forgive them for implementing a battle pass system instead of just giving people the ability to Buy Rewards and win coins at the end of matches, The Simple Solution quite literally will always be, the inoculation to the battle pass is simply bypassing it entirely. You can even keep the microtransactions but you have to strike a balance between winning spoils and microtransaction necessity.

I'm getting beyond the actual point I want to make, the point I want to make is very simple:

I find the designs in Marvel Rivals to be questionable if effective at best, to downright awful and dissonant at worst. There are characters that do respect the lore and backstories of their origins, there are designs that look competent and like they would make sense in a Marvel game, and then you have Groot and Rocket and Jeff the shark, all of whom look like cartoon characters and they don't feel real compared to their human counterparts. Like I know it's weird to ask for reality in a game that is about superheroes, but when you have a character like hulk, who is effectively cartoonish in design concept, being a giant massive green muscle, and he looks like a human, like just a regular guy, but then you have raccoons with demon eyes and a magic looking tree, come on! You're fucking with me right? They look like dog shit. Hulk looks like dog shit, he has such an extensive design concept, and he looks like dog shit in his base form, and I know they have skins, but even the OverWatch characters look good in their base forms, there's a consistency in their inconsistency.

Marvel Rivals designs don't feel like they have that, they have stylization, my god do they have stylization! Every fucking superhero looks like a new fucking thing, but for God's sake the stylization can be wildly dissonant at times, and deeply jarring. Spider-Man and Venom both look like they belong in the same game, rocket and Groot do not, they look like, despite being from the same team, like one belongs in Smite and the other belongs in League of Legends, how you managed to do that in a game with consistent and easy to reference designs for characters that are so well known they sell action figures for Side characters at Target is beyond me.

How did you manage to take all of the charm out of superheroes, put all of the worst aspects of OverWatch stylistation into the Marvel characters and sell it? The only possible way I can think of is a PR Blitz mixed with General aggravation at Activision Blizzard, because like in any other circumstances this would be seen as not just a Shameless cash grab, but a genuinely fucking poor one. And I'm fine with cash grabs, I'm fine with games being made explicitly to cash in on the popularity of things, I just want them to look a little better than how they look.

I'm not sorry, Jeff the shark is not cute, and no amount of weird Twitter posts bitching about people getting mad about him doesn't change the fact that Jeff the shark just isn't cute. At least not to me, and that's fine, I don't have to like the ugly shit looking four legged shark, nor do I have to like big bulky ass Magic Tree groot, nor do I have to like demon looking rocket, nor do I have to like Thor and his monolithic shape, nor do I have to like Wolverine and his monolithic shape, point is I don't have to like these characters or enjoy this game. It's not a game for me, and the reason really isn't a gameplay thing, it's the sheer obnoxious fact that the amount of lines on everyone's costume, and the various added details to different skins and different character designs wildly conflict with me in such a way to where the design inconsistency is not endearing. It's just ugly. It's an ugly game. And so many of those designs deserve so much better than a fucking OverWatch clone.

You could make thousands of fucking games, with the infinite money that the Marvel Cinematic Universe basically prints because of the fucking fan base in his cultivated, and you made an OverWatch clone instead of literally anything else.

I don't know y'all, I think Disney's right on the precipice of losing its footing, and the only reason why the fuck it keeps fucking doing baffling decisions is because it knows it's about to go the fuck under, so it's Shoring up costs and making guaranteed money makers, cuz it knows it'll need them. It looked at markets that had no competition, shoehorn fit into them, cut out things that may lose them profits, and Cuddles up to fucking Donald trump.

And they do it, at least, with a game that was already made, with designs that are wildly inconsistent and dog shit in my opinion, making the exact same promises and mistakes as its predecessor.

Perhaps they will have better success, but I really fucking doubt it, because success now does not mean success tomorrow, especially when the gimmick of the game is OverWatch with Heroes you actually like and that you can look up the lore for.

There is a reason why that fucking kind of game is a gimmick Concept in the Star Wars Battlefront games.

Seeing how downhill everything going gives me a special kind of pain because I *dont* want to just move to a different contry. Despite everything I like living here, I like the good aspects of it. I like our cultural diversity, I like summer BBQs and visiting my great grandma every few months. I like fishing with my grandpa, and despite what a shithole it is I love the people who love their lives everyday here. And I am so so so so scared for them.

I don’t want to have to leave my home to not live in a facist nazi contry. I don’t want to have to move to be happy.

I hate the America of today…. But the people? The American people, who are scraping paycheck to paycheck and getting fed unjust propaganda? The people in my community? The people stuck in this burnt melting pot with me?

I love them.

And I can only hope for their safety.
