More serious summary of the livestream
Unfortunately I can't provide a full translation because the entire time I was watching in autistic excitement like 😊🥰🤩 whilst my brain melted out my ears and didn't pick up on a lot
Luckily, I have a feeling someone will get around to translating this stream eventually since they finally had the BGM on a lower volume so everyone was audible the whole time Without further ado:
We started with introductions seating order is Yamanaka, Yurina (Es' VA), Minami (Amane's VA), Ryouta (Kazui's VA) and DECO (who dyed his hair blonde) They each have one of the 4th anniversary acrylic stands in front of them The actors have their characters but Yamanaka has Haruka and DECO has Muu
Yamanaka admitted to being a Haruka oshi/fan
Then Minami talks about being a Fuuta fan (she calls him cool) and she's handed the Fuuta stand and she pushes the Fuuta and Amane stand next to each other (and jokes about their height difference then imitates Fuuta going zenbu zenbu zenbu!)
But then Yurina sticks her Es stand in between them to separate them
And then they move the Amane stand next to the Kazui one and everyone coos
Before moving Amane and Fuuta back together in front of Minami Then they basically just lift all of the stands up on to the table and continue on
They discuss their thoughts on the trial
Looking at who got voted inno and guilty Minami is happy Amane got inno but has no idea how Mikoto wasn't guilty They note that the audience wasn't very happy with Kotoko for beating up the other prisoners Then they give some thoughts on the MVs from Daisuki to Deep cover They get most excited talking about Cat and Purge March Kazui says that he was able to put the right emotions into Cat because he recorded the voice drama first Yurina and Minami actually caused the microphone to peak with their excited shrieks at one point (ow)
They answer some audience submitted questions One question was answered along the lines of "Be prepared" One was submitted in English and they tried to but couldn't read it Then they got a question (in Japanese) from someone from 韓国/South Korea [side note: I feel like the south korean milgram fandom has gotten more prominent recently, its always been there but it feels bigger than ever and that's pretty cool]
After audience questions they made a few announcements Some things we already knew, the gratte cafe crossover, the Kotoko line stickers, Earbuds are still on sale (and they're making badges and stuff based on the earbud promo art) the 4th anniversary art/acrylici stands literally in front of them Then some new things: Minigram LINE stamps (everyone was especially pleased for the Kazui XP stamp) There's going to be a part 2 to the Karaoke collab (no details yet other than its coming)
They also announce this year's perk for annual members [the pain of being an annual member but living outside of Japan so you can't get these 😭] Blank lamenated cards of the prisoner's interrogations and a whiteboard pen so you can write your own interro questions and answers They bring out the cards for Kazui and Amane and do some examples
"Do you like cake?" "I don't eat it."
"What did you have for lunch today?" "Gyudon." [a beef and rice dish]
Then Minami just writes "Toilet paper" in katakana and everyone laughs (Then she writes Toilet paper rap/lap/wrap and I'm not sure what she means)
Most exciting is script books for the Hallucenation liveshow (scripts of the voice dramas and songs) The live show uses condensed versions of the voice dramas but this is the first time we'll have official transcripts of key moments to help check translations with
Then they start saying that T2 was hellish, but T3 is going to go beyond hell: They're going to send everyone to Super Hell And at this point my brain fries and overloads on eeby deeby memes as they all go back and forth talking about Super Hell
They all start doing their outros/saying goodbye
Yurina talks about upcoming challenges we have as guards meanwhile Yamanaka ominously holds the Haruka stand up in frame
Then that's basically it, not much going on because a lot of stuff (like Hallucenation, the plushes, earbuds) came out right before the 4th anniversary

Hey y'all, Episode 67 will be out as soon as it's ready. I'm not gonna lie, coming off the back of a crazy holiday season, I was hoping things were gonna get back on track with the update schedule, but the last 2-3 weeks have brought about a whole new whirlwind of issues:
I took our cat to the vet a few weeks ago to get him checked out (esp because he wasn't eating as much as usual and we wanted to make sure he wasn't sick). The usual vet we go to has become a shithole, the doctor we got was extremely unhelpful and every interaction I've had with other members of staff there has been confusing and unpleasant. After an hour of an appointment that was more uncomfortable than it should have been, we were out $700 which was absurd, even for usual vet fees. After I shared the more detailed version of this story with friends IRL, some of them mentioned that apparently this particular clinic (among others throughout Canada) was bought by an American company. So that certainly explains a lot -_-
Car broke down and that cost like $800 to fix. Thankfully wasn't as expensive as the fucks at Canadian Tire quoted us, but it was still another huge expense on top of the vet bill.
Our shop moved locations this weekend, which took a lot of time to both prepare for and finally pull off over the course of the last few weeks. My new booth is at least set up enough to tattoo but there's still a lot left to do to make it comfortable.
Now my cat is potentially developing jaundice (sign of liver failure) which lines up with his blood test results from the vet showing increased liver enzyme levels or something like that (but they were apparently not enough of an emergency for the vet to actually do anything about it). I booked with a different vet clinic but they can't get us in until the 20th. So I booked an appointment for today with the emergency vet up the road. I'm terrified for him, he's an old cat so it was inevitable that his health would start to turn, but other than his increasingly picky eating habits and signs of jaundice, he's still acting like himself and it's breaking my heart that he could be hiding his own symptoms. I really just do not need a pet death on top of everything else that's going wrong right now.
As for the episode itself, it's not even that long, but the set design is pretty detailed and in our attempts to create some 3D models for ourselves, it resulted in bugs that had to be fixed on the fly. Thankfully I think we've finally got it down (and it's a recurring location so it's not like it won't be useful to have again in the future) but overall the episode production just hasn't gone as smoothly as it could have compounded by everything else mentioned above.
None of these are excuses, just reasons that have justifiably required my attention. Depending on how the vet appointment goes, I'll try and stream later tonight so that folks can at least watch some of the drawing progress for this episode. Episode 67 will be out by next Saturday at the latest, assuming I'm not able to get it out in the next day or two.
I know I'm a broken record at this point, but I'm incredibly sorry for the wait and I appreciate your patience with me. I'm begging for things to calm down soon.

Have a fun little 'Riz is in college and a fucking MENACE to all the right people' story
-----------------
Coffee goblin uploads a new video to his blog, most people who follow the blog dont know his name because he's never actually said it and it's not like he's often having conversations with people (sure, the half-elf thats in a lot of his streams calls him The Ball but that's certainly just a nickname. The goblins in his forest-walk-and-foraging videos are probably calling him by his name but they're never speaking in common, just Ghukliak, and it's pretty hard to pick out names among all the goblin chittering). Its different than his usual videos because he's actually in frame, rather than behind whatever camera he's always using and he looks pretty serious.
"Look, I know i've turned down a LOT of job requests from you guys lately but there's a reason for it." He brandishes a stack of papers at the camera. "You want me to look into why all these frat members have disappeared or dropped out of school so I thought i'd illuminate all of you as to what happened so you'd stop asking."
The video smash cuts to a goblins POV at a party, the camera catching one of the frat bros that had dropped out sneakily dropping a powder into a girls drink when she wasn’t looking. Then cuts to another, and another, until there are a dozen different guys all caught on video doing exactly the same thing over and over again at parties all over campus.
"Don't worry, none of those girls actually drank any of those." A quick series of shots of drinks getting slapped out of hands, stolen, or swapped out for non-drugged versions by tiny green, scarred hands. “But I take issue with incel losers trying to take advantage of people like that so I did something about it.”
The video cuts again, this time the coffee goblin seems to be climbing the outside of one of the frat houses. Getting up onto the roof easily and clambering silently over to a skylight which he uses his claws to pop the latch on before hopping inside. An arm coming up into the view of the camera as he lifted his forearm, the hand already encased in a glove so as not to leave fingerprints, as a small torch beam from his watch illuminating the space.
“Okay kids, today we’re in the Phi Gamma Omega house and THIS-“ He sweeps the torch light across an impressive collection of potion making equipment, arcane machinery and a haphazard collection of boxes and barrels of components. “-is a straight up drug operation.”
The hand disappears for a second, the light apparently coming from some other source now that seems to move around with his head outside of the frame. The camera itself clearly clipped onto his chest somewhere since it doesn’t exactly follow the movement of the circle of light coming from behind it.
It’s almost too quick to follow what he’s doing but he sweeps through the entire place like a shadow, every box and its contents getting caught on camera before its all put back exactly how it was when he found it.
“Okay, I can confidently say this is an ILLEGAL drug operation now. From the components and setup we’ve got here I’d say they’re manufacturing sleeping draughts, aphrodisiacs, and paralysis potions. ALL of which require a licence to make and I can guarantee you not a single person in this house has that, I already checked.”
He stalked further into the attic space, finding a small collection of arcane machines plugged in on the far wall and humming away quietly. “And even if they DID have a licence to make those individual components, it’s SUPER illegal to then mix them together and dehydrate it into a powder.”
A hand came up to pull open the front door of one of the dehydrators, coffee goblin getting in close so the thick, not quite completely dehydrated slurry on a tray was caught on camera before he popped it closed again.
“Anyway, all of this is pretty obvious BUT we need proof of who is actually making all this shit so we’re going to sit and wait and hopefully catch them on camera so they can’t argue it was just ONE of them involved and that no-one else knew. So forgive me if the next section of this recording is a bit dry and boring.”
The camera pans around the room as the goblin turns in place before settling for a good spot up in the rafters near one corner. The rogue clambering up into the tight space and shifting until the camera had a good shot of the entire room before going still. The footage is then sped up, thirty, forty, one hundred times until figures enter the attic and start zipping around making new potions, unloading and reloading the dehydrators, smashing up what had already been dehydrated into a powder and portioning it into bags before everyone left. The sun had come up and set again in the time they were up there, evident by the sunbeam tracking across the floor, but eventually the goblin clambered down and left back out the skylight they’d entered in. Every single member of the household had wandered through the attic at some point during their stakeout and it was clear as day on the footage.
Suddenly the footage snapped back to the coffee goblin in his dorm room, looking very serious as he leaned in closer to the camera.
“So, there. You have your answers as to what happened to that Fraternity. I happened and I will keep happening if I see any evidence of this shit going on in this campus again. Understand? And just a warning, not all of them simply dropped out.”

Obey Me! Cooking HC's
Obey Me! Brothers x Chef!Gn!Reader
Not proofread!! So probably a couple grammar mistakes
A/n: i think this is my first actual post for obey me?? Anyways I'm turning 17 FINALLY I feel like I've been 16 for like 4 years.
[Dateables version]
Lucifer
-Once he finds out how good you are he puts in charge of meals
-He is NOT good at cooking, but he doesn't want to admit it
-Sometimes he watches you cook in the kitchen under the guise of making sure the brother's (who always ask to help just cause they wanna spend time with you) don't burn the house down
Mammon
-Praises you at every chance he gets
-Brags for you a lot
-You'll be eating at some restaurant, and he'll be like, "we all know you would make this dish way better than these guys"
-Very loud about it too
-Asks you the difference between a liquid and dry measuring cup
Leviathan
-Like Lucifer, also kind of a lurker in the kitchen
-Unlike Lucifer, though, he eventually does ask you to teach him to cook
-Honestly though he's not that bad of a cook
-He listens pretty well, so he's actually a good assistant in the kitchen
Satan
-One of the best cooks out of the brothers
-Also the first one to offer to help you in the kitchen
-All of the brother's copied his idea, and then he got mad at them because of how often they'd mess up
-(Mammon was upset he wasn't the "first" to do something with you for once)
Asmodeus
-Cooking streams!!
-He convinced you to do a stream with him where you teach him to cook something
-Tries to get you to start your own channel
-Cannot follow a recipe.
-Starts throwing random ingredients in that he thinks might be good without you noticing
Beelzebub
-Hes the best cook out of the brothers
-Its not really something he prides himself on
-You assumed that he was a good cook
-But then he offered to help you one day, and you were like
-Omg?? Why didn't you tell me you were this good before??
-He still prefers your cooking though
Belphegor
-Learned a little bit of cooking from Beel but he's honestly a very average baker
-Like he can make a mean sandwich and has a couple favorite recipes that he's mastered
-But ask him to make a basic chili??
-He has no idea
-Decent at following instructions just don't give him any task that includes manual labor or he'll quit immediately

YouTube Downloads through VLC: Step by Step
So this guide to easily downloading off YouTube is super helpful, but there's enough important information hidden in the reblogs that (with the permission of OP @queriesntheories ) I'm doing a more step-by-step version.
Please note: these downloads will be in YouTube quality. My test video download is coming through at 360p, even though the video I'm starting from is set to 720p. They're legible, but they won't look great on a TV. For high visual quality, you'll want to seek out other methods.
This guide is written for Windows 10, since that's what I can test on. It's been tested on Firefox, Chrome, and Edge (which is a Chromium browser, so the method should work in other Chromium browsers too). So far, I haven't tracked down a way to use this download method on mobile.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
I'll try to make this pretty beginner-friendly, but I am going to assume that you know how to right-click, double-click, navigate right-click menus, click-and-drag, use keyboard shortcuts that are given to you (for example, how to use Ctrl+A), and get the URL for any YouTube video you want to download.
You'll also need to download and install one or more programs off the internet using .exe files, if you don't have these programs already. Please make sure you know how to use your firewall and antivirus to keep your computer safe, and google any names you don't recognize before allowing permission for each file. You can also hover your mouse over each link in this post to make sure it goes where I'm saying it will go.
YOU WILL NEED:
A computer where you have admin permissions. This is usually a computer you own or have the main login on. Sadly, a shared computer like the ones at universities and libraries will not work for this.
Enough space on your computer to install the programs listed below, if you don't have them already, and some space to save your downloaded files to. The files are pretty small because of the low video quality.
A simple text editing program. Notepad is the one that usually comes with Windows. If it lets you change fonts, it's too fancy. A notepad designed specifically to edit program code without messing it up is Notepad++, which you can download here.
A web browser. I use Firefox, which you can get here. Chrome or other Chrome-based browsers should also work. I haven't tested in Safari.
An Internet connection fast enough to load YouTube. A little buffering is fine. The downloads will happen much faster than streaming the entire video, unless your internet is very slow.
VLC Media Player, which you can get here. It's a free player for music and videos, available on Windows, Android, and iOS, and it can play almost any format of video or audio file that exists. We'll be using it for one of the central steps in this process.
If you want just the audio from a YouTube video, you'll need to download the video and then use a different program to copy the audio into its own file. At the end of this post, I'll have instructions for that, using a free sound editor called Audacity.
SETUP TO DOWNLOAD:
The first time you do this, you'll need to set VLC up so it can do what you want. This is where we need Notepad and admin permissions. You shouldn't need to repeat this process unless you're reinstalling VLC.
If VLC is open, close it.
In your computer's file system (File Explorer on Windows), go to C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\lua\playlist
If you're not familiar with File Explorer, you'll start by clicking where the left side shows (C:). Then in the big main window, you'll double-click each folder that you see in the file path, in order - so in this case, when you're in C: you need to look for Program Files. (There will be two of them. You want the one without the x86 at the end.) Then inside Program Files you're looking for VideoLAN, and so forth through the whole path.
Once you're inside the "playlist" folder, you'll see a lot of files ending in .luac - they're in alphabetical order. The one you want to edit is youtube.luac which is probably at the bottom.
You can't edit youtube.luac while it's in this folder. Click and drag it out of the playlist folder to somewhere else you can find it - your desktop, for instance. Your computer will ask for admin permission to move the file. Click the "Continue" button with the blue and yellow shield.
Now that the file is moved, double-click on it. The Microsoft Store will want you to search for a program to open the .luac file type with. Don't go to the Microsoft Store, just click on the blue "More apps" below that option, and you'll get a list that should include your notepad program. Click on it and click OK.
The file that opens up will be absolutely full of gibberish-looking code. That's fine. Use Ctrl+A to select everything inside the file, then Backspace or Delete to delete it. Don't close the file yet.
In your web browser, go to https://github.com/videolan/vlc/blob/master/share/lua/playlist/youtube.lua
Click in the part of the Github page that has a bunch of mostly blue code in it. Use Ctrl+A to select all of that code, Ctrl+C to copy it, then come back into your empty youtube.luac file and use Ctrl+P to paste the whole chunk of code into the file.
Save the youtube.luac file (Ctrl+S or File > Save in the upper left corner of the notepad program), then close the notepad program.
Drag youtube.luac back into the folder it came from. The computer will ask for admin permission again. Give it permission.
Now you can close Github and Notepad. You're ready to start downloading!
HOW TO DOWNLOAD:
First, get your YouTube link. It should look something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abc123DEF45 If it's longer, you can delete any extra stuff after that first set of letters and numbers, but you don't have to.
Now open VLC. Go to Media > Open Network Stream and paste your YouTube link into the box that comes up. Click Play. Wait until the video starts to play, then you can pause it if you want so it's not distracting you during the next part.
(If nothing happens, you probably forgot to put youtube.luac back. coughs)
In VLC, go to Tools > Codec Information. At the bottom of the pop-up box you'll see a long string of gibberish in a box labeled Location. Click in the Location box. It won't look like it clicked properly, but when you press Ctrl+A, it should select all. Use Ctrl+C to copy it.
In your web browser, paste the entire string of gibberish and hit Enter. Your same YouTube video should come up, but without any of the YouTube interface around it. This is where the video actually lives on YouTube's servers. YouTube really, really doesn't like to show this address to humans, which is why we needed VLC to be like "hi I'm just a little video player" and get it for us.
Because, if you're looking at the place where the video actually lives, you can just right-click-download it, and YouTube can't stop you.
Right-click on your video. Choose "Save Video As". Choose where to save it to - I use my computer's built-in Music or Videos folders.
Give it a name other than "videoplayback" so you can tell it apart from your other downloads.
The "Save As Type" dropdown under the Name field will probably default to MP4. This is a good versatile video format that most video players can read. If you need a different format, you can convert the download later. (That's a whole other post topic.)
Click Save, and your video will start downloading! It may take a few minutes to fully download, depending on your video length and internet speed. Once the download finishes, congratulations! You have successfully downloaded a YouTube video!
If you'd like to convert your video into a (usually smaller) audio file, so you can put it on a music player, it's time to install and set up Audacity.
INSTALLING AUDACITY (first time setup for audio file conversion):
You can get Audacity here. If you're following along on Windows 10, choose the "64-bit installer (recommended)". Run the installer, but don't open Audacity at the end, or if it does open, close it again.
On that same Audacity download page, scroll down past the installers to the "Additional resources". You'll see a box with a "Link to FFmpeg library". This is where you'll get the add-on program that will let Audacity open your downloaded YouTube video, so you can tell it to make an audio-only file. The link will take you to this page on the Audacity support wiki, which will always have the most up-to-date information on how to install the file you need here.
From that wiki page, follow the link to the actual FFmpeg library. If you're not using an adblocker, be careful not to click on any of the ads showing you download buttons. The link you want is bold blue text under "FFmpeg Installer for Audacity 3.2 and later", and looks something like this: "FFmpeg_5.0.0_for_Audacity_on_Windows_x86.exe". Download and install it. Without this, Audacity won't be able to open MP4 files downloaded from YouTube.
CONVERTING TO AUDIO:
Make sure you know where to find your downloaded MP4 video file. This file won't go away when you "convert" it - you'll just be copying the audio into a different file.
Open up Audacity.
Go to File > Open and choose your video file.
You'll get one of those soundwave file displays you see in recording booths and so forth. Audacity is a good solid choice if you want to teach yourself to edit soundwave files, but that's not what we're here for right now.
Go to File > Export Audio. The File Name will populate to match the video's filename, but you can edit it if you want.
Click the Browse button next to the Folder box, and choose where to save your new audio file to. I use my computer's Music folder.
You can click on the Format dropdown and choose an audio file type. If you're not sure which one you want, MP3 is the most common and versatile.
If you'd like your music player to know the artist, album, and so forth for your audio track, you can edit that later in File Manager, or you can put the information in with the Edit Metadata button here. You can leave any of the slots blank, for instance if you don't have a track number because it's a YouTube video.
Once everything is set up, click Export, and your new audio file will be created. Go forth and listen!

Chapter 2 - The Patrol
‘Someone has to leave first. This is a very old story. There is no other version of this story.’ - Richard Silken, The Worm King’s Lullaby
There is a thin sheet of ice covering the streams that are heading downwards. It crunches under the hooves of their horses that dutifully carry them up the hill and past the gas station. Joel is glad that it's Tommy next to him. He's more tense than he's felt in ages, a gnawing feeling in his stomach that has little to do with the skipped breakfast and a lot with the worry that is etched into the frown between his brows. He wouldn't want anyone to see him like this, much less try and calm him down, something he knows is a lost battle.
“They might be fine, Joel,” his younger brother says gently, just loud enough for him to hear. Tommy thinks there will be no response until one comes, a little too late for it to not be premeditated.
“She talked about leaving, sometimes. They would be stupid enough to run off-”
“And leave Jackson?” Tommy raises a brow. “Maria said their house looked normal, all their things still in place. They wouldn't be stupid enough to leave all that behind.”
Joel doesn't want to hear it. He knows, better than anyone. Knows that you wouldn't just leave, not without saying goodbye to the children you'd come to care about so much. Would you leave him without a goodbye?
He almost hopes you would. Because if you didn't leave willingly, what was the alternative? It would've been nearly impossible for someone to take you from inside Jackson with no one noticing. But he can't shake the feeling that something is off.
It’s Tommy who has to keep reminding him to ride slow, to keep an eye on the ground for possible tracks. Joel just wants to go, to spur Old Beardy on until they're galloping up the hill, despite not knowing where it is he needs to go. He just wants to find you. Preferably in one piece, happy and healthy.
He would’ve missed it.
The small footprints leading off the road and onto a smaller path, one that's twisting through pines and further into the woods.
Tommy nods. “Pretty sure ‘tis the one that leads to the hunting cabin.”
It only takes a few minutes for them to be sure. The wooden cabin is hidden away behind a few trees, difficult to spot if you don't know where to look. It doesn't really serve any purpose, at least not anymore. The roof at the back caved in years ago, allowing rain and plants alike to enter the dimly lit room. It’s less than five miles from the gate of Jackson, tucked away from the main road.
He can’t help but think that this would be the perfect place to run off to. Or to hide a body.
Joel is off his horse in a second, not even bothering to tie the stallion's halter to the wooden posts in front of the cabin. Without thinking, he tugs his revolver out of his waistband, using his foot to nudge the door open.
He smells it before his eyes even have a chance to adjust to the dim light. The unmistakable stench of blood. And mixed with it, creating an odor that immediately makes him sick to his stomach, the smell of gunpowder in the air.
***
The sun has been slowly rising while you’ve been flipping through the pages, trying to find the volumes you’re looking for. The library of Jackson, though rather small, has been frequented more and more, especially in the winter months when the weather doesn’t always allow activities outside and people resort to what they’ve always known: Books.
The entire place is supposed to be relocated soon, to a small store on main street. But compared to the greenhouses needing repairs and the stables being expanded, books don't seem to be a priority for most of the townsfolk.
“Books can’t feed us or keep us safe,” Maria pointed out when you brought the slow progress up to her. You politely disagree. You feel like you could live off books for the rest of your life.
Still, packing up everything means the old place, a shed tucked away behind the church, is currently a mess. Sagging bookshelves, a leaky roof and too many books for too little space means chaos. One that only few bother to navigate in its current state. You among them.
It was the crack of dawn when you slipped out of the house, deciding to let Lane sleep in while you walked through the still empty streets to the far end of the town, hoping to get the library work out of the way before the first lesson of the day.
Maria is the one that finds you, making your head peek up from between two shelves with a frown. “You changed your mind on those books?”
She gives a small laugh, one that sounds oddly like relief. Then her face becomes stern again, the look she carries much more often. “You two have some explaining to do, do you realize that?”
Now it's your turn to frown. “We two?” She pauses at that, looking around the small room. But there is no one here but you and her and the characters bleeding from the pages.
“Is Lane not with you?”
You shake your head, turning your attention back to the book in your hands. “She has the 8AM class today.”
“She's not there,” Maria curtly responds. You can tell she's trying to keep her voice steady but there is a hint of anxiety regardless.
“Then she overslept again,” you half guess-half ask, closing the book again.
“She's not at home either.”
An odd feeling crawls over your body. You can't remember what was in your hands a moment ago, but the question is forgotten in an instant. Maria carefully watches as you step out from between the shelves, her tone still gentle. “I've sent Tommy and Joel out to search. We thought you two snuck out.”
You feel numb as you shake your head. “No, I- I didn't see her this morning. I thought she was still asleep.” You rack your brain for the memories of this morning, of last night, of the last week even. But nothing comes to mind, nothing out of the ordinary.
“I was out late last night, finishing up some paperwork,” you mutter, more to yourself than the woman in front of you, retracing your steps in your mind. “Lane got home before me, I had dinner, we talked about blueberries-”
“Blueberries?” Maria asks, her hand already back on the doorknob. She seems restless and it's that fleeting detail that worries you more than anything. Maria stays in control. Always.
“Yeah, we- It doesn't matter. I don't know where she is,” you finish lamely, getting up and joining her at the door. But she hasn't moved yet.
“You should stay at home. I'm sure she'll show up again soon and if she comes back to your place, someone should be there.” You nod but your mind is already drifting again. Lane’s been doing fine, good. So have you, really. Maria gently reaches for your shoulder, steering you out of the shed and towards the church, down the street that leads to the center of Jackson.
You're passing the small graveyard that's protected by brick walls, the stones already withered, pale in contrast to the dark metal fence running along on top. The gate is ajar, but you barely pay it any attention as the information settles in your brain. It takes a few seconds for it to reach your mouth and leave your lips.
“She went out a few times.”
“Out?” Maria enquires, raising an eyebrow as her attention shifts back to you.
“I thought she'd met someone. Cat and her were pretty close and I figured-” You give a small shrug. It's more than uncomfortable, suddenly, and absurd, that you're discussing Lane's private life so openly, with Maria of all people.
“Don't tell her I said that,” you add quickly.
Maria nods as you reach the end of the brick wall. “I won't. I'll get back to the city hall and see if there’s any news yet. You go home.”
Your head nods as if on its own accord. Maria has already turned her back towards you when you pipe up. “Maria?”
She pauses, her back straightening a bit. “Yes?”
“You don't think anything happened to Lane, do you?”
The older woman shakes her head softly. “No. I'm sure she's fine. Now get home. Maybe she's already there.”
And she hurries off, leaving you at the corner of the street with a trembling body and a heavy feeling in your stomach. For a fleeting moment, you allow your thoughts to wander past the point you've been dreading to consider. What if something has happened? If Lane did sneak out, maybe with Cat, maybe alone, and got into some sort of situation? What if she's hurt?
The sky has turned from pink to a light blue, only a few clouds piling around the mountains on the horizon. You glance down at your hands, shaking ever so slightly. You decide to blame it on the cold. The cold that may be getting to your head as well. Because after a few moments, you turn on your heels, heading for the stables. It's only a few rows of houses until the large wooden wall looms in front of you, blocking out the little sunlight you could get in the morning. The wall that protects you from what lies beyond. Infected and Raiders and maybe, you think, as you slip into the stables, maybe answers.

Today I went to the Zenshuuchuu-ten (Total Concentration Exhibition) for the Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training arcs today!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9b7ac186398eaed52d0c8513b50ac160/41daa79dd8088942-7b/s540x810/3036c81bcf0d10125037cd3468391bde5c35590f.jpg)
This is basically a chance for Ufotable to be like, "remember that cool thing we did?" and for we the fans to be like, "yup, sure do, that's why we're here."
It's not quite as extensive as other KnY events I've been to, and it doesn't particularly provide any new information, but it's fun to see some glimpses of the process from animation cells to finished clips. There's always a handful of fun displays to interact with, scrolls of character designs, and nice panels to display screenshots, especially centered around character arcs and impactful moments.
This time it was roughly as follows:
1. A room with large screen shots of Muzan the Upper Moons that appear in time with lines from the show and twangs of a biwa
2. A small room with a small swordsmithing game that they hurry everyone through. You need to strike the sword with just the right amount of force to get a ball into the middle of three slots, which I did, so I got handed a little piece of paper which is my certification as a master. I mentioned this to a friend afterword and her response was "of course you did."
3. A room in two parts dedicated to Muichiro's arc in SSV, with a hazy curtain you pass through sort of like Muichiro gaining his memories, and a model of his sword backlit in turquoise
4. A room dedicated to Mitsuri's arc in SSV, including a model of her sword which curves all the way across the room, and a little Mitsuri whom you could challenge to arm wrestling. She beat me pretty easily.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/389c5877cfbfe300ca4415071df24c61/41daa79dd8088942-3e/s540x810/a16b338b1bd351a8d64ba9b354575c88adcded83.jpg)
5. A Genya room of screenshots, and models of both his short little sword and his gun. Forgot to mention that their lines were playing overheard in each room!
6. A Gyokko and Hantengu room. A Gyokko only appeared over a model of the vase if you took a photo with flash, and there was a little Hantengu figure to look for, and if you found it, they'd give you a piece of origami paper on your way out of the gallery (pretty much everybody found it, but it was tiny).
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/14750b0c0252328c94a54b8f66f4c19b/41daa79dd8088942-d9/s540x810/f323c49aff4d4648b480fb0c588cdcd611dcb2cf.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b7b9c4449ea0a077855b6a2815468054/41daa79dd8088942-9c/s540x810/6435dfb46154561181abab5dcdb9777b1e41eb29.jpg)
8. The dedicated to Nezuko's mastery was not in-your-face triumph, but instead had a TV screen playing the Nezuko tribute music video version of her song, with the lyrics as scattered across the grey walls as the stream-of-consciousness lyrics.
9. Right after that, the staff ushers you in to the Hashira meeting, as though you were late.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5013ec51bd50f0b046cb9917923e81c2/41daa79dd8088942-81/s540x810/ce7a4e236049462495dd82093fdd6e9cf3ddaf85.jpg)
Next to the meeting taking place, there is a model of Tanjiro's new old sword.
8. After that is a room dedicated to Giyuu's back story. I liked the design of the hanging screenshots in this one. Although the overall image is "water" because of the blue, the water design with light cast on the floor, and water droplet sounds mixed in with Giyuu's lines, the half-and-half effect was perhaps not intentional, but it was there. When you turn back to look through this room, the hanging screenshots--memories of Sabito and Tsutako--are all black.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/12b314cbe221673709e38bcbbe1f601d/41daa79dd8088942-b3/s540x810/4d8b0144862b203e5c76ac1cda3eacd104edf19d.jpg)
9. The rest is a room dedicated to the different stages of Hashira training, with 3-D displays like riceballs, paper airplanes, pancakes with honeycomb and a ribbon, a board with ropes and sword cut marks (yikes), scuffed wooden swords, and a boulder you could push on. Along the tops of these displays were some eyeballs scoping everything out...
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2b100e72ad9ca15e439a73a71da084af/41daa79dd8088942-e9/s540x810/e49042fa04642dc7c1c253ac96bc45fd595aff75.jpg)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4ff095a97e22546275fe418f4ff25e26/41daa79dd8088942-57/s540x810/1e8d1bab238997fb585cc32fa453180a16c2325e.jpg)
10. After that they put you in a theater room with three wide screens and headphones. At the last Zenshuuchuuten they did a reedit of the Akaza and Rengoku fight across three screens, so I figured this would have has plunging into the Infinity Fortress. After a preview review of Hashira Training highlights and Muzan's walk, yup, sure enough things got explosive and they plunged us in via the big screen, including some extra disorientation by zooming really closely in on some moving shots, or having multiple things happen at once across the screens.
11. Then they funnel you into a place with a TV playing the announcement for the Infinity Castle movies. No new content or news.
12. After that, these things tend to have a bright and happy Kimetsu Academy room! You could take photos, but there was a chalkboard with the voice actors have let their signatures and messages for the fans. I appreciated how they seemed to reflect their characters in their comments and handwriting, to some extent (certainly not Matsuoka (Inosuke) or none of it would be legible, but Hayami (Shinobu) has very legible, handwriting, and Hanae (Tanjiro) has comments like "I hope you'll feel like GUWAAA and GAAAAA!"). You could not take photos of the signatures, but you could take a photo of Mitsuri's art and figment of her imagination who says disparaging things to her (despite how she wants her art to make the world happy?? Oh, the irony):
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0e9072ce8a702d84500c634588961853/41daa79dd8088942-d8/s540x810/2674d92d2935bd82942ee6d629d026ddae8d2bb7.jpg)
13. The gallery concludes with a hall eyecatch illustrations, and a hall of Ufotable staff art paying homage to their favorite characters and scenes. Always treat seeing things in Ufotable style, but with individual craft and taste!
14. After that, you buy things. This is where they get ya.
Kind of thankfully, it's late enough in the exhibition's run that they've already run out of a lot of the smaller items I was intrigued by, so I behaved myself. I got the t-shirts I was planning on (I love the simplicity of them so so much, and really had to resist getting the paper airplane one too), a Daki ribbon item leftover from the last exhibition (though what I really wanted was Daki shoelaces), and an official pamphlet of the event. My friend got a couple Osaka-only badges, but since she got doubles of Zenitsuup the Umeda Sky Building, she gave one to me.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/1517a4be276211f515a3cc12483cf87a/41daa79dd8088942-26/s540x810/90aabad421c95b5dbedee4ed9850b99ffd7924dc.jpg)
I really love that "nanikore" ("what the...?") design. It's so simple, and if you don’t know KnY, you might think they're just silly little circus dudes. But people who know will be like, "!!!" and their day will be a little brighter for having seen it.
Gonna do a quick self-reblog now with some extra photos!

funny thing about how i view the conflict in todays stream is that i view flame and wemmbu in very separate ways despite them doing essentially the same thing
in flames case:
i view his betrayal as ultimately a tragedy, their history all thrown aside due to a combination of wounded pride and genuine upset
if yall didnt see his chat for this stream it was actually really, really bad, like his chat is genuinely so fucking annoying oh my god and is a really good demonstration of why i think streamers should be mean to their chatters sometimes to so i actually wasnt at all surprised that he was so upset but i thought hed log off instead of acting out like this
he wanted respect but literally ruined the months long work of one of the few ppl that were willing to trust him over something that couldve been resolved if he just waited until september, but at the same time i can kinda understand why he was being so impulsive considering again his chat is Really bad, but at the end of the day that really shouldnt have been something you took out on one of your few allies like???? bruh even mocked zams storytelling as if he didnt do thee same shit as well 😭
honestly one of the reasons i was sad about his betrayal is cause it kinda sounded to me like he was genuinely about to cry at first??? maybe im just making shit up tho and he def stopped sounding like he was gonna cry after blowing up the spacewaffles tower lol
in wemmbus case:
i feel no pity for this man, he wanted conflict wherever he can get it and he got it! i think hes a lot like zam in that he just wants some attention and most importantly something to do but whatever happens to him next is his own fault lmao, i respect his honesty tho like hey he sucks but he knows what hes about at least lol
the fact that he still kept trying to get a commission from zam (or at least guilttripping him about it for lack of a better word) like bro i know you wanted to do a capitalism morality dilemma arc with zam but read the room my guy 😭
maybe hes at least a little mad that zam kept turning him away despite the fact he accepted a commission from mapicc of all ppl but like. bro. theres a reason zam called him a nightmare customer lmao
that being said you can tell hes not used to going this overboard considering he offered to help repair the tree when zam got upset lmao
idk i just thought his evilness was kinda funny, still hope he gets his shit kicked in spectacularly tho!
its funny, despite being acting like the shitty no reading comprehension version of abyss he gives me the exact same feeling of schadenfreude i did for minute back in s5 and i believe part of it is his mockery of lore and weird complicated dismissal of moral conflict particularly regarding zam
by weird complicated dismissal of moral conflict i mean both he and minute both tried to convince zam to see ''their side'' and ''reason'' but coming at it from an angle that completely misunderstands zam and when zam points it out they dismiss it and act like it means nothing because of their ''objective'' view of reality, spoiler alert! its not objective at all and they refuse to understand things from zams perspective cause they think hes just being unreasonable or something
idk overall i think their motivations for doing things are just kinda... shit lol
like ik theres some pretty obvious parallels that can be made with s5 here but the difference between the og players and flamebu aside from the lack of style and drama is that the og players waited several months before they started acting out the way they did and when they did start acting out tgey always made sure evryone who wanted to get involved Actually got involved rather than doing it while everyone was away plus their opps werent their own allies (except maybe pangi depending on how you look at it)

You know, I was just thinking, there's this game I like, I've talked about this one both on and off stream, it's Luminous Arc 2. It's one of those Way of the Samurai 4 games that are garbage games that did some things REALLY well but are still very much not good games overall, but that I LOVE. You know how much I love Way of the Samurai 4. I also love Luminous Arc 2, it's not a good game, it's a game that merits 0 playthroughs, and yet I gave it 2 full playthroughs.
With WotS4, I can explain to you what parts of it are genius hidden in an ocean of shit, but I can't with Luminous Arc 2, I've not done the mental homework on that one, so I did this weekend, and...
Luminous Arc 2 executes the Nanoha-style Magical Girl formula very very well.
Now, you may have heard that Nanoha is a mecha show but instead of mecha, there's magical girls. And that assessment is absolutely 100% correct. Luminous Arc 2 somehow distills the purely Magical Girl elements from Nanoha's mecha-magical girl execution and pulls them off REALLY well.
Allow me to elaborate.
Nanoha nails down the Good Fight Scene. Not just in fight choreography, but also, in essence of what a good fight scene aims to accomplish for an overarching narrative as an element in the bigger scheme that you can't just skip. Think about Code Geass for a moment: Is Code Geass a mecha show? It sure has mecha, but it's not a mecha show. You could replace the mecha in Code Geass with tanks and helicopters and nothing would change. In fact, at least one adaption of Code Geass does exactly this. Code Geass is a great show but it's not mecha in its themes and execution. Code Geass is a not mecha show with mecha. Nanoha is a mecha show without mecha. You can't remove the fights from Nanoha without it not being Nanoha anymore, and in each fight, we learn more about the characters, the characters learn more about each other, and even if any given fight does not move the plot forward, it does move the character arcs forward, on top of being fun to watch.
And Nanoha accomplishes this by making the same characters fight each other a bunch. Symphogear also does this. Each fight between the same characters feels different each time, because they are growing in terms of motivations and themes.
Luminous Arc 2 does the same with each of its big arcs. In the optional sidequests, you often just fight some mooks and a stronger, sometimes recolored version of a generic monster. The main story stages of the game, though? You are always fighting someone important or a consequence of someone's important's actions. Initially, you fight an ice witch named Fatima and her cat familiar and companion Josie a bunch. As the plot advances, your rogue's gallery keeps expanding, from the bandit Karen and her gang, who initially seem to be disconnected to the overall plot and is more of a Team Rocket deal, to actual lore powerhouses like Master Matthias and others who I shall omit for brevity. Luminous Arc 2 has three big arcs, and each of these have an evolving cast of reoccurring bosses that you fight for plot reasons, and you get to know each other a lot more with each fight, shedding light on their motivations, and them shedding light, in turn, on the motivations of your own side, which are actually not immediately discernible to you in their entirety.
And this is all really good! You get used to their signature moves, their animations, the way they usually structure their units, a bunch of really cool little things.
And maybe this game is sounding good to you, but make no mistake, it's a pretty fucking mediocre SRPG that you can play with your brain turned off. No cohesion, very little unit identity, incredibly self-indulgent first and everything else a distant second, it's NOT a good game... But what it did good, it really knocked it out of the park.
In terms of getting to know your enemy, their motivations, and how they in turn get to know and let you know more about you... Luminous Arc 2 does it better than most. Which is hilarious because this game sucks in every other department. It's not a good game. I did two full playthroughs and I would do a third.

On one hand I do understand the need to finally let Buck be chill and just enjoy a stress free loving relationship. On the other hand GIVE ME THE ANGST. A big fight, incomprehension, one showing up to the other's door afterward and Buck understanding Tommy's not gonna leave him if/when they have problems I LOVE THAT
well, good news, nonny! 911 is a drama show, so if bucktommy are getting screentime, i think there’s a high chance we’re in for some good ol’ angst.
i can’t lie; i’d kill for a storyline where buck and tommy have a huge fight. buck feeling gutted because he fucked up—of course he did; he’s such a pain in the ass. tommy could do so much better. why would he stick around? he’ll leave, just like abby and ali did. he has better things to do with his life than deal with buck. buck isn’t tommy’s priority, just like he wasn’t taylor’s priority. why would it be any different this time? at the core, he’s still the same buck—the buck who everyone leaves once they get the chance to know him. it always ends when they get that look beyond the surface. no one wants to deal with that. tommy is no different; he showed it when he walked out the door mid-argument. it’s over.
yet buck keeps checking his phone, coming up with pathetic excuses totally unrelated to tommy to justify why he's doing it. but deep down, he knows. he can feel his heart full of hope that he’ll see tommy’s name in his notifications. but he never does. and it’s tearing him up inside. he wants to reach out; he desperately wants to make it work. but the problem is, it’s not something that tommy wants. and buck loves him, so he has to respect that.
and this goes on for a couple of days, buck losing hope that tommy might prove him wrong with each passing moment. it is just like all the last times. buck was naive to even hope that this relationship would be different. so he comes back home from his shift one dreadful day, ready to go straight to bed and cry his eyes out like the pathetic loser he feels he is. but as he opens the door, he stops dead in his tracks. because tommy is sitting at the table, waiting for him.
he apologizes for taking so long to get back to him, saying they both needed space to process their feelings. buck at that point doesn’t even remember what they were arguing about; all he can focus on is that tommy’s here. he came back. he wants to resolve this. he doesn’t want to give up. he still wants to fight for their relationship.
buck learns tommy left only because they kept going in circles, and arguing further would only cause them to resent each other. and this was something tommy desperately wanted to avoid. he needed the space to remind himself of what matters to him the most: buck.
and then buck just embraces tommy, tears streaming down his face, happy because he finally has a partner who is just as invested in the relationship as he is. and he knows now that although they might need a little break from time to time, they’ll always come back to each other. and this realization is what finally allows buck to relax into this relationship, feeling more confident and secure that he has finally found his person who’s not going anywhere. of course, he still has doubts from time to time, as it’s hard to fully change your thinking habits just like that. i think buck is the type of person who needs constant reassurance to know that something's working. so, with every next fight—while definitely easier on him—there’s still a twinge of anxiety in his chest because what if this is the moment that finally causes tommy to leave? but it never happens. and despite all the hurdles in their relationship, buck finally feels more secure than he’s ever been in his life.
okay, i kind of went full-fanfic with this one. i’m pretty sure nothing fully developed like that will happen in canon—if anything, maybe a mild version of it. but honestly, i think it would be so satisfying if we got such a storyline. i really want buck to have a romantic partner with whom he can be absolutely vulnerable without worrying that they might leave. however, i don’t think this could happen without a proper big fight first. i really hope tim decides to explore this aspect of their relationship in the future.

As someone who is currently rewatching all of Aphmau's series and has major brain rot over the Aphverse, i am desperate to find a fic where some of the mystreet people get somehow transported to the MCD universe. BECAUSE IMAGINE THE ANGST POTENTIAL IF MYSTREET!ZANE WAS IN THIS GROUP OMG.
MCD!Garroth having to see what he could have had with his own brother if things were different is breaking my heart.
OH OH OH BUT ALSO
Right imagine this little mystreet group is also when they're teenagers, smol little Zane being transported to a world where pretty much everyone despises him because MCD!Zane is the embodiment of evil.
Like, maybe little Aphmau and Zane get separated from the others and end up in Phoenix drop, they manage to make it to the town square where Molly is coming back from praying to Irene, and she sees Zane, the man who hurt her precious baby and used dark magic on their town. Molly then runs to alert whichever guard she can find (it just so happens that Laurence, Garroth and Dante are all leaving the guard tower for their respective patrols at that moment)
These men run to the town square, fearing the place they are sworn to protect is under attack by one of the most dangerous tyrants of their time, and they come to find not only Zane (who's looking around with a sour look on his face, and albeit a little smaller than Garroth remembers) but also the woman they spend their lives protecting (and two of said party are definitely, totally, not in love with her...)
And when i say they're teenagers, i mean the first season of PDH vibes, so Zane and Aphmau with these squeaky voices and no social skills, and Aphmau has spent most of her time looking around in awe up until that point because OH MY IRENE ZANE IT'S JUST LIKE MY GAME!!!
Laurence moves first, rushing over he knocks Zane to the ground harshly before yanking Aphmau away, to which she screams because this tall, scar covered, very scary looking version of her friend (or maybe crush depending on when in PHD this happens) has picked her up far too easily for her liking and she's worried about Zane.
Then Garroth and Dante move in, and suddenly Zane is being looked down upon by his big brother with such a look of disgust and hatred that has never happened before. Garroth loves Zane. Sure they disagree and fight every now and then, they're brothers, but Zane knows Garroth loves him and would keep him safe, and even though he wouldn't admit it, Zane loves his brother too. But the scary and hate filled man standing above him does not make Zane feel safe, and a flush of fear runs through him, followed by watery eyes and embarrassment because why is he feeling so weak and despised by one of the only men in his life who's provided a steady stream of love (unlike his dad)
And when Zane pulls his shaking hands up in surrender, with this wounded animal look upon his face, MCD!Garroth almost has to double take, because not even as children has he ever seen Zane look at him with such fear, the only man who'd ever brought fear upon Zane's face was their father, and maybe that gives Garroth his own little internal crisis because he's tried so hard to be nothing like dear old dad.
BUT ALSO, LETS PICTURE THIS
The rest of the group (let's say...Laurence, KC and Garroth) show up, and they try to find a way home without the help of the villagers of Phoenix drop, only to be attacked and have Zane kidnapped by people MCD!Zane has royally pissed off. The little group run back to Phoenix drop for help, and all the MCD lot just can't seem to understand why these little versions of themselves/their friends want to help Zane of all people so badly. It takes the Garroths having a full on row over it and Mystreet!Aph breaking down in tears to get people to help (because how can Laurence and Garroth watch a small version of the woman they love sob and not do something to try and help?) and obvi Lord Aphmau was on board the moment they asked and was going to do it alone before her Guards through out their protests and Little Garroth decided to cuss out MCD!Garroth for "abandoning his baby brother" (which is where the fight started)
...
Maybe I should write this myself...
Anyway, that's where my brain has gotten me today.

My First Thoughts on Life is Strange: Double Exposure
(these are my opinions from the 1st Trailer, Reveal Stream, and clips they've posted)
1. The Style Swap:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ab518d7a4f991435b4a7799a2884829a/d7ae66d593add741-18/s540x810/4d35d17713c87f735a069ebcdd224bb13009c3ed.jpg)
I personally prefer the original, less realistic, style to the game. I think it sets Life is Strange apart and makes it look more unique than other games. I understand why they’re changing it up, and I don’t necessarily think it’s bad, it’s just that I prefer the original game style and visuals so far.
I'm also not a big fan of the clothing/styles they've given the new characters, especially Max. Each character in the first game had a unique style I felt suited them well, now everyone's clothing seems pretty bland and standard. I especially wish they had kept some of Max's original aesthetic, It feels really boring and plain now. Maybe that's not a popular opion, I'm not sure, but it's a first impression of mine so I'm writting it! (Also I am aware there are going to be outfit packs, but I don't any of them look like anything Max would've originally wore, or really even look good... personally I don't like them).
2. Game Play:
I like the sneak peak they gave us in the Reveal Stream, it looks fun! I think at the very least I’ll enjoy playing through the game even if I don’t enjoy the story. The university they made looks fun to explore and the concept of two parallel universes with two different versions of everyone you meet is extremely interesting!! ALTHOUGH I really dislike that they took away Max's rewind power, that was a big reason why I enjoyed the first game (getting to rewind and see all the diffrent options and dialoge) so I'm defenitly not a fan of that being taken.
3. Life is Strange Comics:

(Spoiler warning for the comics) One thing that confuses me is that the comics are known as non-canonical in the Life is Strange storyline, however will this game change that?? Max seems to have the same (or very similar) powers that she has in the comics in Double Exposure. Dose this mean the comics will be reconized as semi-canon or even fully canon for the first game now? Maybe Double Exposure will even connect the storyline of the comics and first game togther. Although personally, I hope not, while I enjoy the comics I think I'd enjoy them a lot less if they were canon lol.
4. Chloe:
So we know it follows either endings of the 1st game. Dose that mean Chloe is either dead or alive and broken up/no contact with Max (the girl that sacrificed a entire town for her)?? So far I’m confused on how that will work. As much as I've wanted Max and Chloe to get another game, if you’re just going to give Max one why not just have it take place in the bay over bae ending?? I think they can make this “both endings are canon” work, but the question is will they?
5. Can it Really Be a Standalone Game?:
When they revealed Double Exposure to be a standalone game I was honestly really disapointed because why even make a game with Max, and possibly Chloe, just to have it not connect with their original game and story that's already beloved by fans?? To me this is a big mistake when their original story is still so loved, unique, and respected, and I think alot of fans would've liked to see a sequel or continuation of their story. I honestly think this is what's going to make me dislike the game, we'll just have to wait and see, I'm optimistic for now, but I have a feeling the story and characters will seem disconnected from the original game because they want the game to be a standalone and not refer to the original. So I personally predict that this choice alone will really negativly effect what the game has to offer, but we'll just have to wait and see! Hopefully I'm wrong about this.

As people may know, or at least be unsurprised to learn, I am a rather obsessive collector/organizer of data. I am a big fan of having everything I like in a digital file that I own (rather than renting access to it via streaming), and of making sure they're all organized and labelled with sufficient context.
[Note that I'm coming back to add now that I've finished writing this whole post: what follows is a pretty boring description of how I bought a bigger hard drive this week, to facilitate my aforementioned hobby. It contains multiple pictures of my laptop. At the end there is a screenshot of names of all the comedians in my comedy folder. So only click on the cut link if, for some reason, you think that sounds interesting. If you do think any of that topic sounds interesting, shoot me a message or something because we should be friends, if you share my enjoyment of something so objectively uninteresting.]
For the first few years that I did this, I kept most of my comedy stuff on a few different external hard drives, that were between 500GB and 1TB each. Different ones had different types of media on them, and I'd switch around when I needed different folders. It got difficult to keep the drive still while I was using the computer, so I purchased a pocket thing that adheres to the back of the laptop, so my external drive could live in a pouch on my laptop's back while drawing its power, like a parasite:
This was my laptop situation for quite a while. The sticker, of course, an homage to Nish Kumar in the lockdown season of The Mash Report.
About a year and a half ago, when I finally got a job with more financial stability, one of the first things I did was splurge on a 5TB hard drive. I took all the stuff that mattered from my various smaller hard drives, and was able to combine it into one giant folder, labelled "comedy", on the 5TB drive.
I went with 5TB because it seemed to be the biggest drive you could get while still having it small enough to work with my system of living on my laptop's back. Anything bigger than that be far less portable, and too big for the adhesive pouch. Even the 5TB one was thicker than the 1TB ones and that stretched the pouch, but I got it to fit in there.
I logged everything in my comedy folder in a spreadsheet, which I also kept in that folder. Keeping track of dates, locations, and lineups of performances. I established a system of having a subfolder for any comedian for whom I have at least two files, and then everything I have by them will go in their sub-folder. Audio or video comedy files that feature more than one comedian will be copied into all relevant folders - ie. if it's a mixed bill of five comedians who all have sub-folders, I'm making five copies of it. This is fine because 5TB is huge and I don't need to conserve space. I just need to feel the satisfaction of completism in my organizing system.
This worked well for quite some time. However, recently, the size of my comedy folder was creeping... not up to 5TB, but at least up toward a point where I had to start considering ways to save storage space, when adding new files. In the last few months, I've started adding a lot more video files, in the type of stuff that I used to only have in audio form, and obviously the video takes up a lot more space. I love having video versions of things because obviously it's fun to see the comedians, but I didn't want to have to start hesitating to add videos because of space constraints.
So I was thinking of making another upgrade - from the biggest of the hard drives that would still fit in my laptop's parasite pocket, to the next level, where hard drives would need to plug into an outlet because the laptop's USB port won't give them enough power. I started Googling prices, considering how big I should go. I figured at least 10TB, maybe 12.
Then, last week, I got a video of an excellent comedy night, I had so much fun watching it, but it was 3.5GB, and I needed to paste in five different copies of it. One for the John Robins subfolder, one for the Ian Smith subfolder, one for the Celya AB subfolder, one for the Nish Kumar subfolder, and one in the Mixed-Bill (non-Kitson) folder. And that is too many times to copy 3.5GB, if I have to be conscious of space. That will get unsustainable.
So I went to Best Buy's website, saw that they were selling a 14TB external drive from a reputable company on quite a good sale, and bought it. It was actually less expensive than buying the 10 or 12 TB ones, due to the sale price, and I figured that if I'm going to do this, I may as well go big.
Of course, I was concerned about how I'll use it, since I often use my laptop when I'm not just sitting at my desk, and I don't want the hard drive knocking around. I tried Googling whether they have bigger adhesive laptop pouches, for the bigger hard drives, but didn't find any. Then it occurred to me that I could just make one. I purchased a case for my new hard drive, and some adhesive Velcro that can attach to fabric.
When it arrived, I attached the case to the back of my laptop with Velcro, put the drive in it, and it worked great. Until I realized that this new drive has vents on the side. I don't know exactly how this all works, but I do know enough to know you probably shouldn't cover up vents on electronics. Which means I should not be placing this thing inside a case while I'm running it, the way I could place the smaller ones in their pouch while using them.
It took me far too many minutes of coming up with the obvious solution, to just stick Velcro directly on the back of the hard drive, and stick that to the Velcro on the back of my laptop. I tried that, and it worked surprisingly well:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/17ac10650a38044e79cf84b981425f7c/3bb00b7dae109554-02/s540x810/791aebf2a1c5ef1a45754bd1c2e5ff3474040bca.jpg)
(Pictured above: on the left, the old hard drive pouch that is visibly stretched from having the thick 5TB one in there when it's clearly not meant for ones that big; on the right, my new monster of a hard drive, attached directly to my laptop with Velcro)
Of course, this meant there was no more room on my laptop for the Kumar sticker, so I moved it to the side of my bookshelf, with the rest of my Britcom stickers:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a59d31e5bfa466668716ce8390c47114/3bb00b7dae109554-78/s540x810/fa49ed1e44ad5699c623d61c19d7e13598f37fc7.jpg)
(Pictured above: the Kumar sticker, a couple of Higgldy Piggldy Enterprises stickers that I took off the package in which Kitson's CD was delivered, a Taskmaster seal, a sticker of Nish Kumar with a coconut on his head in Taskmaster, and two cards that Ed Gamble threw into the crowd at The Wrestling event a couple of years ago, which a friend of mine who attended the event picked up for me)
The laptop did work even with that new giant hard drive strapped to its back, so I now have that option if I'm using my laptop somewhere without bringing other accessories. But I quickly became concerned about how much stress the weight of the hard drive would put on my laptop's hinges over long-term use. To avoid that, I figured that any time I'm just using my laptop in my bedroom, it would be nice if I could secure the hard drive to the "lap desk" thing that I keep under my laptop, so it'll keep still and stay nearby without putting its weight on those hinges. And I had Velcro, so I can secure anything to anything.
Unfortunately, my old lap desk was not wide enough for my laptop and the giant hard drive next to it. Because they don't usually make lap desks with the thought that they'll need to be wide enough for a 15.6-inch laptop and a hard drive that's 5.3 inches wide. So I went back on the internet, and browsed for ages to find a lap desk that would be wide enough for both to sit side by side. Finally I found one. Purchased that. Began to realize this great sale, getting a 14TB hard drive for only $250 - this is rapidly turning into well over $250, if you add the cost of the Velcro and the case and the new lap desk. Though I had been considering buying a new lap desk sometime soon anyway, as my old one was falling apart.
Okay. So. The lap desk arrived. I put some Velcro on it. By now I've gone wild with power over this new Velcro - I've already used it to hem my curtains and fix a hole in one of my backpack's internal pockets. I'm super excited that I can just attach stuff. Including a giant hard drive to a new and huge lap desk, rendering the drive portable:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ad61da76d0092bf5e1b83144045f05ca/3bb00b7dae109554-26/s540x810/f3d800698e4668f7981db3b3b757b270d141d0f9.jpg)
I feel like I'm in one of those gaming subreddits. "Want to see my setup?" Pictured above is my new setup, with the actual hard drive out of the picture so you can see the Velcro. My setup mainly consists of Velcro, at this point. Velcro, and a behemoth of a hard drive that contains, among other things, approximately 800 hours of Daniel Kitson recordings (that's not a joke, I've just checked and the actual number is 798).
I've spent the last few days setting up the new hard drive. Part of that was easy, as I just moved the giant comedy folder. But I also added some stuff. I'd previously kept some of my John Oliver collection on a separate hard drive - the Last Week Tonight and Daily Show stuff - now my entire John Oliver collection is together, where it belongs, in the shared folder with Andy Zaltzman. I brought over a few extra sitcoms that I'd been leaving out because they take up too much space. And I re-organized some stuff. Cleaned it up a lot by adding a "misc. stand-up" folder for video and another for audio, so that stand-up recordings by comedians who don't have their own sub-folder can go in there, rather than just being loose in the main folder.
This newly cleaned up version of my hard drive is so much more organized that I can even almost fit the entire main folder into one screenshot (just a bit of text cut off at the end, but it's pretty close now - while before, it went on for ages with un-filed recordings):
(Disclaimer: Just because someone's name appears on that list as a comedian to whom I've dedicated a sub-folder, does not mean that I endorse everything they've ever said. Or, in maybe one or two cases, anything they've ever said. It just means I collect comedy like a magpie. I mean, obviously this folder has mostly stuff I like. But it's also just stuff I collect. This paragraph is basically here because I don't want anyone looking at the Alfie Brown folder, and saying, "Oh, I guess she thinks racial slurs are a cool way to be edgy." I also do not condone anything Alun Cochrane's said since about 2018 - frustratingly, because I found him quite funny before that, I'm still mad at Adam Hills for how hard he's defended monarchism since getting those letters after his name, and I do not co-sign any of Alan Partridge's political views. In that alphabetical list, those are four comedians just in the As with whom I disagree.)
(All those names in the above screenshot do look like a good template for a game of fuck marry kill, though.)
Anyway, that's how my week's been. Next week I'm going to try backing up the new and improved folder to my cloud space, without frying my hardware from overheating while uploading about 3TB of data. My laptop's been overheating lately, and unfortunately, my knowledge of IT stuff is, like, half a step too low for me to have the confidence to take it apart and try to clean the fans inside. But my laptop has been a trooper in data transfers all week, I'm sure it won't let me down now.

Des probably shows Pirandellian character traits: fun analysis (SPOILER AZRAN LEGACY)
First of all, I'm just a student who studied Italian literature as a subject at school, so please take all of this with a grain of salt and feel free to add your considerations. (And I hope that my teacher doesn't have Tumblr because it would be very embarrassing.) Also, maybe there are some regional differences, for reference I'll use the italian version of the game.
We all know that Descole is a broken husk of a man; Desmond Sycamore is dead; stuff like that. But I want to share with you guys a personal point of view about his character while using what I studied and STILL STUDYING for final exams ("maturità")
In order to understand what I am going to say, I need to explain a bit of his theories, which are also used in his novels, especially what we call "la teoria delle maschere."
Before talking about it, we need to essentially explain the concepts of life and form:
Life is a continuous change, a stream, and form is the structure where people try to contain life in order to make it more understandable by putting or letting people put a mask on ourselves (for example, a name, a role, etc.) that covers our true selves, our identity, which, just like life, changes and isn't coherent.
But since life is a continuous change, people are destined to face the fact that their identity isn't something stable. Usually it's a peculiar event or some random stuff, and they have different reactions to it. One of them is trying to escape from the form.
An example of this in Pirandello's books is Mattia Pascal, a man with a miserable life who decided to change his identity in order to escape from it, taking advantage of the fact that everyone he knows believes that he died, but in the end he realised that in his new form he couldn't be free, and he couldn't even go back to the old one since everything changed.
Now you may be wondering: What does that have to do with Descole?
His character is mainly centred on the theme of identity, just like Hershel Layton (but he accepts it) and the whole Azran Legacy game, but I wanted to focus on how he was written and especially how his life revolves around this, personally more than Hersh, and how his reaction is different.
Okay, basically the point is that his life is characterised by huge changes, and escapes from the form as a reaction to the event, which lead him to be stuck in an another form.
FIRST FORM: Hershel Bronev
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fc8aeaa2dda9c68612fc3003e9de1349/4062c9b751e6c669-f6/s540x810/07a3da5eb90203b2adfb3a59864f881a4762069b.webp)
For Pirandello, our first form is the name that our parents gave us. In the case of the Bronev Brothers, they broke pretty easily, and in Des' case, he gave up his name and his form in order to let his baby brother be adopted by the Laytons. This led Theo with a new form that wasn't his and Hershel "not being him" anymore.
SECOND FORM: Desmond Sycamore.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b334d48aa06461cd7c17533919bec83d/4062c9b751e6c669-d4/s540x810/a1d41b63e62a559cce9c068eb077e09171ed93ab.jpg)
We don't know much about the period after the adoption of his brother. The only information that we have is that he was probably adopted by a family (the Sycamores), and he presumedly met Raymond at this point in the timeline.
Desmond Sycamore is the name of his new form, perhaps even given to him by his adoptive parents. He acknowledges his past but presumebly tries to move on, in fact by getting married and creating his own family. But the event of the death of his family is going to change him even more. Killing off this form.
THIRD FORM: Jean Descole.
Now we start with the interesting stuff.
After the death of his wife and his daughter, Descole claimed that Desmond had died, and he, a broken husk of a man, substituted him.
On a more superficial perspective, the reason behind this change of personality could be grief, but to be honest, it doesn't explain why he thinks badly of his past self.
Sure, survivor guilt exists, but I don't think that it's the reason behind it.
I tried to reflect on it a bit more, and one of the explanations that I could give was that, actually, he could feel responsible for anything that happened to his family.
Maybe he wasn't present at the time that the tragedy had happened, maybe he found them already dead. Because of his incapability of defending them, he developed hatred and rage, so as a reaction, he created a new form. One that wasn't a fool and was the exact contrary of who he was and also with the objective to escape from the sense of guilt by separating his present self by the past one.
AZRAN LEGACY: Trying to go back.
Since Des needed help in order to solve the mystery of the azrans and what their legacy was, he presented himself as his past form: Desmond sycamore.
But the truth is that he can't really come back to be him. Just like Mattia Pascal, he changed mentally. He's a different man from before.
We can see that especially during his interactions with Bronev in the Nest, when his rage almost explodes just like Descole's.
But at the same time, it is clear that this whole travel with the layton crew changed him.
Maybe there isn't much evidence, but I personally think that he started to get emotionally close to them, and we can see that with the fact that he saved Luke from the laser.
At the end of Azran Legacy, he can't go back to be Descole anymore because of this and it's unfortunate how Level-5 didn't focus on this thing (just like the other relationships between the characters.)
EXTRAS: Aurora and Des confrontation.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/908e88a92382c885f9fcf6012628173a/4062c9b751e6c669-01/s540x810/371e76add50791f3bdfc949b43fb248c7b3960f5.jpg)
[Image translation: "Now my wife and daughter are gone, and with them, that fool Sycamore."]
In the extras, we have this interesting interaction between Des and Aurora, where basically they talk about Descole.
After Des said that he isn't Desmond anymore, Aurora rebuts him, explaining how he was still capable of loving and hoping for the future, and that he can't really escape from his past, from his memories.
She calls Descole a character, a mask that he used to cope with his pain, and after Des tried to say that "Desmond is gone," Aurora remarks how technically still exists through his actions.
This is evidence of how Des identity changed again and how, as I explained before, even Descole isn't the same as before.
The extras concluded with Descole with a hidden desire to follow Aurora's reflection about resisting and basically moving on. Not forgetting his past.
Conclusion: Who is the true des?
Now there's a discussion in the fandom about who des really is, mainly divided in Desmond or Descole.
While descole is CLEARLY formed after a huge trauma, we also need to consider that Desmond isn't a "true form" either. This is also evidenced in the game.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8e249bdc3269978ce213132acfdce7f5/4062c9b751e6c669-ab/s540x810/d93661ad195359658ea0ecc82c1227a89f06162f.jpg)
At least in the italian dialogue, des talks how when he was still in Desmond form, he hoped that he could have lived a normal life with his family (and in the next lines said that he hoped that he would forget about revenge).
But neither Hershel Bronev is his true identity either now. That belongs to his brother now.
So? Who's the true form?
The scared child that hoped for a better life for his brother?
The man that couldn't save his family?
Or the husk blinded by revenge?
Maybe it's all of them, maybe it's no one. After all, we learned that the people's identities aren't stuck. They evolve, and they are complex and contradictory sometimes.
Personally, I don't think there's a true truth. We can just analyse and express our personal thoughts about it, we aren't this character, and there are a lot of points of view on this story, so there's anything concrete, just his events and his narrative of it.

Fallout London First Impressions/Semi-Organized Thoughts
Things I'm not a fan of;
The female player character combat sounds, while not the worst I've ever heard, are bad to the point of distraction at times. I was streaming it for some friends and we broke out in laughter at various points because of how unnatural they sound. Don't know what the male sounds are like yet.
Biggest complaint though, the choice to freeze the player in place during important 'cut scenes.' At two points early in the game, a mysterious agent talks to you and does your basic mysterious exposition talk stuff. I assume it's to prevent you missing these moments, but by the level design I kind of already can't.
In both cases you can't proceed anyways because the agent has to unlock doors for you. It felt less egregious in the hallway because I wasn't sure what was about to happen and it was a small space with nothing to see anyways. The second time in the atrium got on my nerves though. Here's this huge space I could be exploring while the agent talks at me through some big tv screens, but instead I am stuck waiting.
Bugs I've encountered;
Churchill the dog companion. Nice guy. His footsteps are absurdly loud. It's like there's a small horse stomping around near my head. I assume this is not intended hence filing it under bugs, but I was forced to leave him behind because of it.
Beware ye who try to fast travel. Seems prone to causing crashes so always save before you try. I also crashed twice when taking the train out of the starting area into the main world.
There's a sequence on a boat. It seemed like the boat got stuck for a moment and then I fell through it into highly radioactive water and died.
Things I'm enjoying
Honestly, pretty much all of it.
I can't really help but compare it to New Vegas' relationship to Fallout 3. Where 3 and 4 have their drawn out intros, in New Vegas and London you wake up in front of some doctors. Pick your face, states, and traits, and bing bang boom you're on the move soon after trying to figure out who you are and who did this to you. Oh yeah, much like New Vegas, they brought back traits again. The perk system also got reworked/reskinned to be closer to how it was before 4 as well.
The world building especially though. After spending so much time being frustrated at Bethesda for not seeming to think very deeply about the ways the East Coast might be different from the West Coast, it's so nice to see all the thought put into how things would be different in Britain. Using tickets from the Underground as currency. Ion Brew as the local soda of choice. London Ghouls I believe prefer to go by the term Commuter? Viewing the term ghoul much the same way US Ghouls view zombie it seems. Though I've only heard that from one ghoul so far.
The ATTA-Boy is especially cute. A handheld version of the Pip-Boy that was reverse engineered off of scavenged/stolen Roboco Pip-Boys.
I've gotten myself involved in some kind of gang turf war. Can't wait to see where that goes.
Also the array of local creatures they've made is great. The giant leeches are awful, good job guys. Radshrews, giant ladybugs, mangy foxes. The Fish People. Can't wait to see what else is out there.
Last thought, Greenwich Footbridge was a horrifying experience (positive). Nothing like being trapped in a flooded tunnel full of ghouls.
