I'm doing more than 5 for my first post on this because by god the WORMS. I'll try to do these consistently so we're all on the same page

Content warning for: mentions of assault, mentions of parent death, drug abuse, VERY ooc characters

1.) Kiss Me (Crawlers)- In between her studies, Anya has a hard time processing the feelings of her recent assault. Her boyfriend isn’t treating her well, overall uses her for sex when he’s pent up or stressed or whatever excuse he has for why he needs his dick sucked that night. One night she’s continuing to say no. Her boyfriend proposes a drink to cap off the night and drugs her, rapes her, and breaks up with her. She can't come forward about the assault for reasons (i haven't figured out whoops). It’s the song she performs for Jimmy to ‘prove her worth.��� She plays her own bass, does her own vocals, and Dai is on drums before his own audition (Curly lowkey helped her revise the song and work through it. Sometimes she would cry to him during the process and he would just hold her. When she auditions for Tulpar, it’s the first time she doesn’t cry when she sings the song.)

It really hits Jimmy in the heart as many of his ‘friends’ (people he felt close to but those people really didn’t want to be around him) had experienced or took care of others who were victims. Of course he tries to push these feelings aside and judge the song fairly (girl, it’s a banger, let her IN), and he convinces himself that his approval had nothing to do with the topic (it didn’t really, it was a banger)

2.) Ængus The Prize-Winning Hog (The Toxhards)- A silly song Curly wrote with Jimmy at the beginning of their Tulpar ventures. They passed it around back and forth between classes when they were together. One time they got caught passing notes and the teacher read the lines out loud. She really laid into them, accusing them of taking drugs and scribbling nonsense (Jimmy was also known for passing around bud at school if other kids asked for it. Curly got him to cut that shit out at school senior year but was convinced by Jimmy to keep getting bud for them and Dai and Aynya.)

It becomes their closing song when Tulpar goes pro and signs with Pony Express Records. Anya and Dai do chorus vocals!

3.) Be Careful What You Wish For (Bad Omens)- In return for Jimmy teaching screams, Curly teaches Jimmy to sing! This is a song Jimmy wrote after he apologized to Anya and Dai and Curly for the way he’d been treating them. Still on the fence about therapy but feeling heavy with his thoughts and feelings about what he’d done. He refuses to let Curly see it or workshop it with him (he tries to hide the fact that he’s writing at all) Instead, he comes to Dai and Anya! He performs his first draft for them, can't help but cry afterward and they give him hugs for a while. They workshop a little after he calms down. It’s almost never performance ready because Jimmy can't help but tear up after he sings it, but when Curly convinces him to sing at one of their larger concerts he still cries but the crowd is so enthusiastic about his performance and emotion that he starts t feel it doesn’t matter if he does cry on stage :)

4.) Through Hell (Melrose Avenue)- A song that Jimmy’s kept private for all of his life. Songwriting was a way for him to cope and process his feelings for as long as he could remember, and this song had been with him through the beginning. One day Curly and the crew find it and decide to surprise him during one of their concerts by learning it and performing it. Curly does the entire song! Jimmy joins in with his own screams and vocals at 2:28, and they sing the song together from there :)))))) Dai does background vocals throughout the whole song, so he’s the one singing along at the start. 

The whole time Jimmy is trying to keep up on his guitar- he knows the song by heart, but seeing his friends performing a song so so dear to him makes him feel whole. (Maybe canon Jimmy would find it disrespectful and get pissed. But this barbie thinks its moving)

5.) Vampire By Rumor (TX2)- Honestly this song is only on here cause I can't get the image of Daisuke doing this song as a halloween special “concert only” song for the fans. He’s dresses as a vampire, Jimmy is a zombie (he forgot about the song bit entirely, green and purple face paint was somehow on hand and he didn’t mind ripping holes in his shirt and jeans (said the fans go wild for the skin)), Curly is a cowboy (OF COURSE), and Anya dresses in bloody scrubs ("It's still in theme!" she argued when Jimmy pointed out it wasn't really a costume). Swansea even joins in the fun by dressing up! (he pins a paper scrap that says "costume" on his tech blacks)

6.) Forgotten (The Plot In You)- For sure one of their heaviest songs and Jimmy takes the lead. He wrote it after many years of processing his parents death. For a time he turned to drugs to cope with everything he was feelings, and after starting therapy and medication he wrote this song as a subtle promise to himself and their fans that he would stay clean

7.) At My Back (Madds Buckley)- The song Anya sings at Jimmy and Curly’s wedding :) Dai does ukulele and Anya does the drums as she sings :) 

8.) Gut Punch/Don’t Meet Your Idols (Everybody’s Worried About Owen)- Another song in the many Jimmy wrote after his parent’s deaths. Written after he apologizes to Anya and Dai. He performs it at a local open mic that (coincidentally) Anya, Dai, and Curly are at for drinks and to vent. The ‘idol’ in this context would be his dad. The crew agrees to keep it secret that they saw him, but end up being the loudest when he finishes. Thankfully he doesn’t notice them and thinks he’s just hearing things

9.) hover like a GODDESS (WILLOW)- Anya wrote this after a crazy hook-up with a girl at a bar. She realizes she’s queer and FULLY embraces it. Tulpar does an Anya-centric album 

10.) she knows it (Maggie Lindemann)- Another song Anya wrote and sings. Curly gets a girlfriend and Anya is falling head-over-heels for her (while Jimmy is getting so frustrated that Curly is with someone else). Depending on how long the relationship goes on for Anya tries not to stare at her while she sings but can't help it. Jimmy can't help but look at Curly

RRAAAHHH!! This is a collaborative AU with @nina-a-pines and @hell2electricboogaloo with our OC’s and the East Blue Crew!

ONE PIECE BATTLE OF THE BANDS AU!! Going from left to right, we have Lyra(aka-INK, the lead guitarist and songwriter of the group[oc owned by @hell2electricboogaloo ]) Anya (bassist and backup singer of the group), Okimi (Lead singer of the group[oc owned by @nina-a-pines ]) and Anzu (drummer of the group [oc owned by @hell2electricboogaloo ])

They met in highschool, with Anzu convincing the girls to join a band with her! They got pretty good and continued into college, where they heard about a battle of the bands following the late, great Gold.D.Roger’s original tour schedule. Now they must survive 10 rounds to see who will win the wealth, fame, and power.

But things take an unexpected turn when the girls encounter a new band, The Strawhats.

RRAAAHHH There’s so much stuff to include but i might make more posts about it! But TLDR the ship dynamics of the groups are Lyra x Sanji, Anya x Usopp, Okimi x Luffy, and Anzu x Nami (zoro only in love with rock n’ roll lololol). But this comic above is from the first round. Where the girls (i still need to think of their band name) play the song “Alice”-Avril Lavigne. Okimi and Luffy had bummed into each other before the show started, with Okimi giving Luffy her portion of food because of her nerves. Come to find out, the nice girl who gave him food was the lead singer to a band, and she was really good (whatcha looking at luffy??)

Honestly really happy with these pages, and really want to make animatics/ more comics of some of the songs we picked out (but i already have to work of the first one the the Sniperfox AU!!) But i hope you all enjoy!

Equinox, the world's greatest modern rock band, are just about to start the U.K. leg of their latest European tour. The stage is set, the crowd is ready, the band is waiting in the wings. But behind the scenes, fine cracks are beginning to show. DEEP PURPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey folks sorry for running two days late but better late than never, here's my 10th review of 2024, Deep Purple!!!! This was my 2nd time seeing them and first time in 12 years I saw them live, so it felt great to end the drought of having not being able to see them again. They sure know how to put on a great live show, for me at least they do. Also when I saw them the first time, Monster Truck opened for them.

Let's start the festivities!

First band up was Yes. This was a band I grew up listening to on the radio as they had a number of hits, the most notable one being Owner of a Lonely Heart. My regret was not seeing them live when they had original frontman Jon Anderson in the group nor original bassist Chris Squire. Current frontman Jon Davison was not too shabby. They definitely weren't too bad but I saved my energy for Deep Purple. Here's their setlist:

After Yes it was time for DEEP PURPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was my 2nd time seeing them and this time at a different venue because the first time I saw them was at Massey Hall on 02/12/2012 and it was also on a Sunday at that time and I remember enjoying Deep Purple live at that time. This time around Ian Gillan wasn't walking around in a boot cast like he was 12 years ago. Plus another notable change was them having a new guitarist from Northern Ireland named Simon McBride whereas 12 years ago they had Steve Morse, in which he left the group 2 years ago to be with his sick wife. Also Ian Gillan cracked some funny one liners in between songs when he said "We just played a few calypsos to get you warmed up" and "A lot of people think this next song is about global warming, but it's quite the opposite, I started a fire in my own house"*then they play Lazy Sod* and "I'll show you mine, if you show me yours" plus he also went on a tangent of how he invented invisible cream and then lost the can. Also wanted to point out that keyboardist Don Airey looks like Charles Bronson. My only quibble with the set was the solo parts when Simon McBride and Don Airey had their moments, but other than that a great show and at 79, Ian Gillan still has the pipes. Here's their setlist:

Eurovision 2005 - Number 28 - Далеко - "Знаки питання"

Back to Ukraine...

...and an actual winner of one of the fifteen heats! This is Далеко (Daleko/Far) an all female, five-piece rock band who have some questions. They've also got a music video and a grungy mid-1990s indie sound. And a wind machine. They are lead singer Anya Pilipenko, guitarist Natalia Polyukhovich, drummer Valya Tyutyunnik, keyboard player Svetlana Gaidaenko, and bassist, song-writer and seemingly founder member Olya Sergeeva.

Judging from the names and the small amount of promotional material on social media, they're a band that may originate in Ukraine, in Russia or in Belarus - or indeed all three. They began as a group in 1999 and performed at a number of different festivals everywhere from St. Petersburg to Chisinau. So far so standard, but something here feels a little off.

They seem to gig all over Eastern and Central Europe and to have made two music videos, but don't seem to be signed to a record label. Their social media is written by someone, well let's say they're not a natural at promotion. There seems to be an insistence on two things. One is that they're all-female and the other is that they play 'good Christian rock'. I don't have lyric translations, so this may well be the case with this song. They appear to have music industry backing but at the same time don't appear to have music industry PR.

Знаки питання (Znaky pytannya/Question Marks) sometimes rendered as ??? is a blast of angry, statue smashing, guitar noise that if you didn't know it was from 2005, you'd probably attribute to a Garbage B-side from about 1993. There's the grungy riffs alongside the high harmonics while the rhythm section just gets on with it wearing a bucket hat. There's an element of sticking it to men in here, but in the absence of lyrics, I'm unsure as to the precise nature of their criticism - with all the statue abuse and cell-door action I'm going for anti-objectification.

As I said at the top - this won its heat and got through to the final of the Ukrainian Selection for the year, and they did well. A top half finish of ninth place out of the nineteen songs that ended up being in that final is respectable for one of the biggest national finals in recent times. It seems like Daleko were finally set to make a big push.

But then there's nothing. They tried to change their name to CAT$ or Daleko Cats. They played an all-female rock festival in Italy. Then they disappear. I can find no trace of them after this save raking through the remnants of a social media presence that seems to have been set up in 2013 - eight years after the fact. That may explain the lack of good promotional copywriting. The attempted resurrection failed but they did leave three videos out there including Знаки питання. dodie: Tiny Desk Concert Robin Hilton | January 10, 2023 On many levels, this breathtaking Tiny Desk from dodie felt like the ultimate cathartic release. The English singer and her band arrived after more than a year and a half of planning and COVID-related delays; and, this was the final performance we had behind the desk in 2022, capping our long-awaited return to the building after more than two years of pandemic disruption. A lot of us who were lucky enough to see it in person were pretty teary-eyed by the end. But it was also a release because the music and the way dodie and her band pulled it off were both so magical. Bassist Jillian McKenna is a dodie fan from Canada who joined the band just for this performance after answering a callout on Instagram. The three backup singers are friends who flew in from Los Angeles; the string section was a mix of dodie’s touring band and DC-based artists and fans of Orla Gartland can see her move from piano to guitar and floor tom during the set. dodie herself, who played everything from piano and clarinet to ukulele, and the rest of the band flew in from England solely for the Tiny Desk, arriving on Saturday and flying back Monday not long after playing. Together, they filled the NPR Music office with songs that radiated with love and life, perfectly recreating the playful, kaleidoscopic spirit of dodie’s 2021 debut album Build a Problem and last year’s Hot Mess EP. Strikingly melodic, whimsical and wistful, dodie’s deep reflections on trauma, letting go and moving on were the perfect close to a year when it felt like we could finally exhale and come together again in song. Thoughts on my Current Reading List

In order of least to MOST stressed I am about where I left the character's when I stopped last time.

Made in Abyss - ch 17 - Riko and Reg are currently alive*, upright, and standing on a ledge. They are fine! We do not need to worry about them. When I come back they will still be, probably, totally fine.

Kuragehime - ch 31 - Tsukimi, hon, you're starting a design label with your friends. one of whom believes in y'all with his entire wallet. you're gonna be fine.

Hunter x Hunter - ch 390. - Ok Stuff is actually heating up here. I'm more than a little concerned for everyone under Kurapika and for Kurapika himself. I just haven't gotten my hands on the latest issues... However, I have 0 Gon stress. This kid had his arms blown off repeatedly. He is fine. He just needs a lot of therapy.

Hirohi Kikuri - ch. 2 - 25 y/o bassist with a serious drinking problem. seriously she's starting to give young keith moon a run for his money.

Spy x Family - ch 41 - Anya Forger is a child psychic living with a spy and an assassin (who has familial ties to the secret police) and a clairvoyant dog. she's at home watching cartoons and is in more danger than anyone else on this list.

early punk scenester & member of the ‘Revenge Girls’ gang that used to run punk hangout & clothing store ‘Revenge’ Debbie Wheeler along with the late Anya Phillips, co-founder of the Mudd Club/ fashion designer/ dominatrix, Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys & his then girlfriend and later on thunderous R’n’R bassist Gyda Gash (the quintessential punk couple rivaled only by Sid and Nancy, without the killing-each-other part), captured by Eileen Polk in 1978 on the staircase next to CBGB, leading up to Palace Hotel, the biggest flophouse on the Bowery that housed hundreds of homeless people per night.

The Palace Hotel space began life in the late 1870s as a tenement house with liquor stores on the ground floor, in an area rife with taverns, inns and saloons frequented by slaughterhouse workers for almost a century after the meat processing industry expanded north on the Bowery from Chatham Square. In 1949 the stores became the Palace Hotel Restaurant Bar and in 1969 a man named Hilly Kristal began leasing it. By 1973, when he founded CBGB there, the hotel had gone from palatial to poverty-stricken, providing cheap rooming for homeless, drunks and junkies that lived in the neighborhood.

( cis woman, she/her, the runaways ) is that alexa demie ? no, that’s just sinead ortega, the twenty - four year old drummer of the rollergirls that is really famous. they are known to be fickle & rash but can also be bold & free - spirited. they remind us of hands adorned with colorful rings & drumsticks rolling across knuckles, a flushed face leaning backwards out of hotel windows, neon lights winking off disco balls, a life beginning and ending in a city as tired as it is restless, laughter echoing off bathroom walls & forgotten cigarettes crushed under a worn combat boot’s heel. their aesthetic is reminiscent of vienna by billy joel.  

( cis female, she/her , dolly parton ) is that ELSA HOSK ? no, that’s just KITTY COOPER, the TWENTY EIGHT year soloist. they are really famous and are known to be INSECURE & IMPATIENT but can also be GENUINE & DEVOTED. they remind us of WAKING UP WITH THE SUN, BRIGHT PINK COWBOY BOOTS WITH HAND GLUED SEQUINS, ALWAYS WILLING TO SPARE A KIND WORD, BECOMING THE DREAM GIRL AND TRYING NOT TO LOSE YOURSELF IN THE PROCESS. their aesthetic is reminiscent of JOLENE by DOLLY PARTON.
