I just imagine how Edwin would’ve felt when Charles stayed with him, like he hasn’t had much people in his life he considered close (not shown in the show) and after those decades in hell he’s a bit afraid of people so I think the first days they were together Edwin would sometimes forget there’s someone near him and get scared when he notices Charles.

Like “Oh, you’re still here” but in a relieved way.
