Not SVU screenshots but I’ve never seen that as a reason not to indulge in a barisi headcanon.

Carisi walked into Barba’s office & did a double-take.

“You’re wearing glasses.”

Barba scowled, took the glasses off & rubbed his aching, and apparently aging, eyes between his finger & thumb. “I knew there had to be some reason you made detective. Must have been your acute observational skills.”

“No, I like them. They make you look smart.”

Barba glared at him.

“…er,” Carisi gulped. “Smart-er.”

“Did you want something, detective?”

“And they kind of make your eyes greener.”

Barba returned the glasses to his face. His voice dropped an octave. “Go on,” he said.

Carisi smirked. He stepped closer to the desk & leaned forward. “They make your eyes all sparkly. And you look younger somehow.” He leaned right over the desk. His eyes dropped to Barba’s mouth. “Your lips look pinker too. More … kissable.”

Barba licked his lips. “Want to try that out?”

Carisi chuckled. “What? Right here in your office?”

“If you don’t put your mouth on my kissable lips in the next 2 seconds I’m not … hmmpff.”

Headcanon: Carisi uses big words in bed & Rafael momentarily forgot he was at work

A fic where Sonny thinks he will die every time Rafael touches him bc he isn't used to physical affection. So is all too much, but he just endures because he doesn't want Rafael to know that he lied when he said he had a girlfriend and she moved to L.A, and everyone seems to assume that his family is super affectionate bc they are Italian, and he doesn't want to break to ppl that actually they aren't as affectionate as ppl believe.

Headcanon: There’s this out-of-the-way club. It’s sophisticated but laid back. When Rafa has to work he goes to Forlini’s but when he wants to relax he goes to the club. Some people at the club know who he is but to everyone else, they just know him as Rafa, the friendly man in the nice suits who has such a wonderful voice and can always be persuaded to sing. The only person he knows at the club from what he likes to call his “real life” is Rita Calhoun and he likes it that way because it means he can just be himself. He doesn’t know that Sonny Carisi discovered the club by accident a few months ago and was stunned both by Rafa’s singing and by the way he is such a different person in this environment. Since then Sonny has stalked him and can often be found in the shadowy corner table near the back trying to get up the courage to ask Rafa out.

smut dialogue prompt #8 for carisi? 👀

"I didn't know you were into that," you said with wide eyes.

Sonny's red face somehow turned redder. "Yeah--I, um, I don't know--it was just something that I tried once with Bar--it doesn't matter. But I was the submissive that time, and I want to try being the dominant."

You nodded. "I'm willing to try, but lets talk about 'no's', too."

"Absolutely!" he responded quickly, eager to finalize plans.

"My main no is degradation--I love praise, and I love when you call me a good girl."

Sonny made mental notes, but this, he knew already. "And I don't want it to be creepy--it is a power play with me pretending to be your boss, but I don't want it to feel like I'm forcing you to have sex."

You nodded again in understanding. With Sonny's job, it made sense that he wanted everything--even roleplay--to be consensual.

"Do you want me to call you Judge Carisi? Or Your Honor?" you asked. Sonny wasn't really a judge--just like you were not really the ADA you were going to pretend to be--and you weren't positive on what the lingo was.

He took a deep breath at that, cheeks pinking. "God, even just saying that has my stomach in knots." He mentally shook himself, "but yes, both are fine. Great, even."

"I'd, um--I'd like for you to keep most of your suit on--during, I mean," you confessed, your own cheeks burning.

But Sonny would never belittle your wants. "Of course. I think that's kinda hot, actually--me being dressed while you're naked.... On that note, will you wear makeup? Like...not the non-smear or waterproof--"

"Sure, Son," you smiled reassuringly. "So...this weekend?"

"God, yes."

Sweet Barisi Headcanon:

Barba and Carisi spend a lot of time in Barba's office. With Barba working on the current case and Carisi studying. Occasionally, Barba will pose a question he already has his solution to just to challenge Carisi. Other times, Carisi will ask genuine hypotheticals he's curious about.

I can only assume the reason I never wrote a Barisi fic where Sonny makes his own suits because sewing is relaxing to him is because I don't consider sewing relaxing at all, so I just didn't think "Hmmm, perhaps all those perfectly fitted suits are something he does to relax."

Anyway, new headcanon, old fandom.

Well, I have some regarding season 18!Carisi, so I can internally explain his change of behaviour - not only towards Barba, but pretty much everything. He’s angrier, more objective, getting into the steps of the stereotypical “angry male cop”. Which, honestly, was a loss. Season 17 was working fine with Sonny and Mike not falling into those boxes, but heh writers were kinda unimaginative I think, with the whole change of producers. ANYWAY, for Sonny specifically: I do believe he develops some anger issues due to grief - not only for Mike, but for the life he was supposed to achieve after passing the bar. No matter how much Sonny is a man of loyalties (and, at that time, he felt his needed to be with the squad), his feelings could be very complex and all over the place - hence his fiercer discussions with Barba - at that time, he could be almost an equal to the man, if he at least pursued that position in Brooklyn. Staying was his choice, but one that angered him sometimes not because he could be doing better, but because he could be somewhere else doing what he dreamt of doing, and had opportunities to do so, and left them so to not leave the squad and keep a job that, by his own observations, were CHANGING HIM (the episode with Tom Cole, still in the precinct and before the shot, Carisi already reminisces about how police work changes people. He knows he’s not who’s he supposed to be anymore). I don’t know if it’s a headcanon or not, but I think those discussions with Barba were Sonny trying, relentlessly, to protect his stand, his choice to stay a cop and defend his squad (while defending Amanda’s actions with the witness in episode 2 or 3, idr) and then, in episode 12, that whole scene outside the courtroom were Sonny also trying to give a message to Barba - that he’s still a lawyer, not a mere cop, that he can be Barba’s equal even if the world doesn’t see it or even if Sonny himself didn’t chose to. Anyway, I really think season 18!Carisi’s behaviour could be explained through an inner turmoil optics regarding his own professional choices and, occasionally, some compulsory heterosexuality bc in my head, at this time he’s dealing with his attraction to Barba and it’s not being very cool about it.

For the "wish you would write that fic" thing: I've seen vids on tumblr with Raúl Esparza dancing and it looks like he's got moves and since then I can't stop thinking about a Barisi Strictly Come Dancing AU. With Raf as the professional dancer and Sonny as the klutzy celeb ofc. They would argue about steps and speed and whatnot but they'd also fall in love because all that body contact and a really good rumba is basically foreplay.

Lol, absolutely! Idk why every situation one sets up for them is a version of Rafael being totally annoyed and hating Sonny. Until he doesn't. Then Rafael is a pining mess and finally he's 😍.

Sonny is just smitten from the beginning. Bc omg we know Raul dancing, now imagine Rafael dancing. Poor Sonny stands no chance. But Sonny's a confident guy of course. So of course Sonny argues with the professional dancer.

And Sonny makes a mean celebrity. This is why I wrote a Sonny is an actor AU which is called smitten.
