Thinking about the song "Ship in Port" by Radical Face and clones

Thinking about the line "Farewell to the chains we were born into" and what that can mean for the clones

Thinking about how "But I have always stayed in place/Under that old illusion that it's safe" could equally describe Hunter, Echo, and (s1+2) Crosshair's complete opposite approaches to the Empire and post-war life.

The way Crosshair clings to his identity as a soldier of the Empire

And Echo as a soldier of the Republic

But Hunter puts his identity as a soldier behind him

Crosshair fights for the Empire to gain purpose

Echo fights against the Empire to save his brothers

And Hunter decides the Empire is too strong to even try to oppose

Thinking about what The Bad Batch could have been if it had more fully explored the differences between those ideologies

“Small Town Girl” is the song I wrote for my Invisobang fic, Waypoints.

@ovytia-art did the excellent cover art of Ember.

@lexosaurus helped tremendously with the sound mixing, especially on my voice.

I had so much fun (after much crying and battling with the mixer/DAW connection) writing and recording my first ever song with lyrics! I’m not a performer, really, so it was a huge stretch for me.

But! I learned so much throughout the process, and I’m happy with how the song turned out. Maybe I’ll do more songwriting in the future.

Okay. So! Cool idea I just had!

I figured that since Phiona is a tarot maiden, I figured that maybe her wand has different forms that represent the minor arcana! The sword is self-explanatory, Cups is a whip, the Wand is a scythe (The wand represents earth, and scythes are used for harvesting, and The Pentacle is either a dagger or a broomstick (still deciding.)

The Continuing Adventures of my Dumbass Minstrel Paladin

I keep forgetting to record or even get screenshots of some of the more hilarious shenanigans Aravyn and the Tadpole Gang are getting up to. So last night after spending an hour gleefully running all over the map to make Gale infinitely recast "Speak with the Dead" on all of the glowing corpses with our new shiny necklace loot we got from the chapel, I realized I hadn't gotten a trigger for a quest I remembered from early access regarding mean druid lady being suspiciously mean and after referencing some ancient texts (see: walkthroughs), I realized I needed to head back to the grove to do some poking around.

After spending like fifteen minutes poking around rooms, eventually I started throwing up dancing light cantrips at all of the dark corners. And eventually doing this I find the little dark hole that leads back to a hidden area where there's a chest marked in red.

Just imagine, you're a xenophobic druid who is ready to cut yourself off from the outside world forever, and this stupid paladin who talked your homicidal new boss lady out from letting some kid get eaten by a snake is now going around to all of the dark corners of your comfy dark underground hidey hole muttering to herself and throwing up sparkles in all of the shadows. Nothing suspicious there. She's just lighting up the world. It's what Sylvanus would want, I suppose.

Well, going into sneak mode reveals that the angry elf druid guy who keeps telling me to get lost is looking right at the chest, and so that's a problem. What's the Tadpole Gang to do? My paladin has a negative on stealth checks, and I don't know if stealing will technically break her oath, but if I'm staying true to character she probably wouldn't like it. But, clearly the group needs a distraction that will get everyone's attention in one area, so that an enterprising sneakthief can go pick the lock on that chest and take a little peekaboo.

It's time for a Mini-Heist

"Surely this won't work," I tell myself, and get the group gathered just in between all of the NPCs in the grove, toggle party mode, and position my rogueiest vampire suspiciously near where he needs to be.

Then Aravyn starts strumming away -- and lo and behold--

Gathers a crowd. Literally everyone stops what they're doing to come gather around and in the distance I hear them all cheering her on and complimenting the tune. "That's a great song!" says Kagha who moments before was sneering at us. Apparently, she's a lover of music. THE WOLF even comes over and starts listening, I think it's a possibility the rats even stopped scurrying around to listen.

There is cheering going off in the distance as Astarion quickly and effortlessly picks the lock on Kagha's chest and loots all of the contents. Then casually saunters back to the rest of the group as the NPCs are still happily bopping along to Ari's rendition of "Bard Dance".

She finishes her song, Kagha starts throwing gold at her feet. An NPC literally just paid me to rob her 🤣 We quickly pick up our three hard earned gold (look look it's not important however much Astarion has in his pocketses okay), and the party shuffles on out where everyone is still chanting their ritual and quickly go off to the secluded area just beyond the chanting circle to look at the evidence and continue their quest, having successfully completed their tiny heist.

And now I'm imagining now imagining this scene where Astarion throws his arms around his pal(adin)'s shoulder and is like "Look at all these dour faces. Darling, why don't you perform that utterly delightful ditty you couldn't stop playing around the fire at camp last night. I'm sure it would raise everyone's spirits", and then casually strolls off as she starts plucking at strings and the crowd begins gathering, then whistling along with the tune as he walks back up and congratulates everyone on the impromptu concert and then quickly steering his party back outside. "Man, that outsider sparkle-making Paladin sure is a bitch," says Marcoryl, who keeps complaining about not killing a small tiefling child (so you know his opinion is to be trusted), "but she sure can play a lute."

Alixandre Dumont Headcanons

He was born in Baldur’s Gate’s Lower City, and studied through the College of Lore. He never knew his biological parents.

Wanting to prove to himself that he wasn’t a ‘holed up��� scholar, he opted to explore the Entertainer background, and frequented parties in both the Upper City and Outer City with performances.

His father is a Guild Artisan, who primarily fashioned weaponry, but often sold to dealers in the Underground for a profit.

He’s fascinated by magic and mythology, but also had a habit of going against his Adoptive parent’s wishes. They had both hoped he would be an Artisan like them.

Alix is transmasc. He is mostly a guy, but also is not a guy. He uses He/Him and They/Them pronouns, but tends to prefer the former.

His Father wasn’t entirely thrilled about this revelation, despite wanting a son to begin with, and cut Alix out of the family when he went to college and discovered this about himself.

The Tadpole incident, and subsequent adventure was the first time Alix felt like he did not have to put on a performance about who he was, due to finally finding people who saw him as an equal in all ways.

He is Bisexual, Polyam and most certainly some flavor of Acespec. His preferences lean more masculine, but he also equally has found himself attracted to most people.

Alix is autistic and has severe anxiety. He manages the latter with a combination of his music and different herbs.

Despite his severe social anxiety, Alix is fantastic at using his bardic skills to perform songs or poems, showcasing a much more confident version of himself around his companions.

Charismatic but a smidge awkward when attempting to flirt, often blurting out his intentions without thinking only to overthink those interactions later.

Note: the next few headcanons deal primarily with the Startouched God AU

Alix was gifted godhood by being the son of a Tiefling and the star God, Celestian often referred to as the Star Wanderer, a title Alix upholds to this day.

He has tattoos all over his shoulders and back that are blotches of various purples, pinks and blues, which all actively display whatever constellations are in the night sky in all the realms depending on the season.

He spent his summers in the emerald environs, studying the tombs and scrolls there. In turn living among the refugees after his adoptive family disowned him.

The day he was taken by the Nautiloid, he was planning to leave to scout ahead for the refugees to have safe passage to leave the Emerald Grove.

Alix’s magic was partially sealed away and weakened by both the Tadpole as well as what he believes is Celestian abandoning him for a second time.

It is unclear whether this is the truth, or something Alix tells himself to deal with his trauma. Though, he does seem to have less of a grasp on his magic after the Tadpole.

Some minor deity-influenced powers include:

Foresight for weather based on star alignments and wind patterns (astronomy stuff)

The ability to draw magic from the stars themselves.

Minor medicinal/healing magic, often attributed to his bard skills

Mild wildshape-ing. He can take the form of a dark purple, black, and silver antlered stag after a like an attempt to become a Ceryneian Deer. It looks as though this its fur is made of constellations.

He can create small balls of light that resemble stars, which acts as using the ‘Light’ spell without a spell slot.
