know that it’s not the point of the movie but I really hope they establish ken is indeed barbie’s boyfriend. she doesn’t need to kiss him or hold his hand or say I love you but we need that true devoted obsessed boyfriend + badass girlfriend to be canon because you know Ryan Gosling’s Ken would let Margot Robbie’s Barbie commit war crimes in the name of being a supportive partner

#there’s the notebook ryan. and then there’s ken ryan. i’ve personally never seen him do anything else #la la land was notebook ryan. remember the titans was ken ryan. the fall guy also looks like ken ryan #i don’t say this as necessarily a bad thing. i don’t actually mind ryan gosling #i don’t like the way people have reacted to him post barbie but that’s not really his fault so much as the patriarchy’s fault #i do think he should consider killing himself to repent for his participation in said patriarchy #but in the end i don’t necessarily have a Problem with him. i’ve enjoyed him in movies <3

thinking about when i had such intense phantom limbs as a kid i told my math teacher about it

#like. I've had phantom wings since i was a CHILD and I'm not even kidding #i remember specifically saying 'i pretend to have wings so much that i can just Feel them there all the time now'#and he reacted in a way where he didn't want to tell me that's weird bc i was a Kid but also he totally thought it was really weird #which. was a reaction i knew very well at the time. that kind of quiet 'i dont know how to react to that but ok'#the trying not to make a weird face about it #so i shut up about it ever since! and then when i was 20 i found out what otherkin was #i remember them specifically being pegasus wings too we've always loved pegasi it was entirely bc of the barbie movie #i can't remember what the term is. for when you're A Fucking Lot of things all at once? poly something?#but we've always been like that #our first OC was plural coded and otherkin coded to the absolute max it was insane #and she was fully and entirely a self insert (at the time. nowadays she's her own guy)#but like. she could absorb souls on the brink of death and communicate with them inside her head #and she could shapeshift into any of those souls' forms at will #and she was supposed to be some kind of chimera #her 'true form' that i made of her was just all of her different forms crammed into one body #like. one owl wing one dragon wing. a dolphin tail. a fox paw and a pegasus hoof. scales mixed with fur. human shaped body. horns #if we weren't a system at the time then we were at least REALLY REALLY susceptible to becoming one we've always been Like This #and I'm willing to say i was an otherkin kid in the same way i say i was trans before i knew what that was #i didn't say I Am A Boy i just said I'm the closest a girl can get to being a boy (a tomboy)#i always leaned towards boys interests and boyish things. in the same way i taught myself to walk like a cat and meow convincingly #(to a point where i meowed once and my sister yelled at me to put the cat down if she's meowing. i was not holding a cat)#i didn't know what being otherkin was but i spent about as much time as possible being as animal as i could get #and i got offended when my friends didn't want to be animals with me. i had a lot of Horse Girl friends as a result #(hard to avoid horse girls in the middle of rural ohio tbh)

i can't believe that people are just now coming to the realization that hasan piker has a hamster in a wheel where his brain should be.

i swear to god, the only reason he gets away with half of this is because he's handsome. if you had someone who embodied the aesthetic of a basement-dwelling reddit supermod doing this, the whole operation would be a failure to launch.

#one of the peak 'how tf does anyone tolerate this garbage' moments for me was like #this clip of him reacting to a critical drinker review of barbie #and it was very obvious that he didn't see the movie #i find critical drinker's content to be irritating too. but when i found out he was a screenwriting hobbyist. i thought.#'oh. alright. it actually makes a lot of sense why he's so harsh on a lot of new releases and we have a pretty strong overlap #in our complaints'#i still think his delivery and how he articulates himself is incredibly off-putting. but i get where it's coming from #meanwhile this doofus is trying to oscillate between 'it's a toy movie for children and adults' and #'this actually has a lot to say about fem of nism'#honey you can't have it both ways with that

my barbie movie experience was amazing. but the people around me that were also watching...not so amazing. there was a guy sitting with his girlfriend to my right and throughout the entire movie he was leaning forward and whenever something happened he would kind of extend his arm and wave in a sort of "what is this shit" type of way...at the end of the movie, i hear his girlfriend say "why are people crying?!" the people she was referring to were me and my roommates who were...well obviously affected cause we have a heart and soul. later on, my roommate who was sitting closer to them said that the girl was apologizing to her boyfriend "for making him come see this movie"...so yeah. i think the point of the movie flew over people's heads...

i do think disney movies have gone down in quality (for many reasons) but i also think. perhaps. some of us are expecting way too much out of movies meant for. children

i saw the barbie movie yesterday!! it was really nice🥰

(it also further proved to me that some men will get angry at anything they don't understand and/or doesn't cater to them. like all that vitriol when nothing in the movie was nearly radical enough to provoke that💀💀💀 and the most “radical” things were things women already know/think so nothing new either djdjdk)

My favorite part about seeing the Barbie movie is how much fun everyone had with it.

There was so much pink

Everywhere

People dressed up, the color coordinated. There was a pink balloon arch by the door and the concession stand had Barbie ballon’s. The employees wore pink shirts and sunglasses.

During the movie the audience was thoroughly engaged people laughed, a lot. Hearing everyone react to the little nods and jokes was so fun. The whole theater had a sense of community that isn’t very common anymore.

It was just fun
