All About Me!

Hi!! My name is Paige. I'm 17, and I spend WAYYY too much of my time on this app.

I mostly plan on posting stuff about my favorite bands and just random thoughts!

Speaking of bands, some of my favorites are My Chem*, Fall Out Boy*, Panic! at the Disco, Pierce the Veil*, Leathermouth, L.S. Dunes, and more!

Some of my fav movies are Life on the Murder Scene (shocking), Juno, A Time To Kill, Isle of Dogs, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Girl, Interrupted, to name a few.

Some of my fav TV shows are 9-1-1, Celebrity Jeopardy!, Bones, NCIS, and Will Trent, to name a few.

My fav video games are The Sims 4, As Dusk Falls, Minecraft, and Unpacking.

A few more random things I love: sparkling water (if u bring me one, I'll give u a kiss on the lips), Mike & Ike's, and musicals!

I don't really have many hobbies aside from reading and listening to music. Actually- I've been obsessed with making bracelets lately and reading comics* lately!

RPF and archiving: the ethics of the wayback machine

it feels silly to talk about frerard in the same breath as digital preservation. but a few years ago i began noticing fics i had once loved were now deleted from ao3 and old livejournal links had become 404 errors. with the use of the wayback machine, i was able to retrieve some of these and i saved a few as google doc files for personal use.

i was originally planning to make this post as an offering to any folks still out there in the market for well-written bandom fic, providing a link to my drive where these fics can be found. or just as a reminder that far more things have been archived on wayback than you might think. but then i had to go and think about the ethics of the thing, and that gets tricky.

to be clear, i've made my peace with any ethical qualms regarding rpf itself. that's not what this post is about. rather, my concern lies with the authors of these fics. each presumably has their own reason for removing their works from ao3/lj. and we're talking about some big names in what is a very small world here - softlyforgotten, one of the joint authors of In Case The Scene Gets Nasty aka Fistfights, is an author whose work i was shocked to discover was scrubbed from the archive. by sharing work that these authors have chosen to delete, am i undermining their decisions to curate their online presence and artistic output? there are plenty of things i have posted online and then deleted that i would not want to be resurfaced and shared without my consent.

i love these fics, and truly wish to recommend them to others. and, as i said, the wayback machine is accessible and free to use. would sharing them be so bad? is this an offer anyone would want to take up in the first place?

i would appreciate hearing others' thoughts on this. i'm honestly not sure where i stand.

An introduction

HELLO!! We're a group of music enjoyers who got together in november '24 with the goal of preserving and nurturing emo music, art and culture. We wanted to create a space where bands and people in "the scene" can use as an outlet - we want to help give them a voice, spread the word about their projects, and find their next favorite artists! We LOVE post hardcore, metalcore, emoviolence, hardcore, screamo, all that stuff.

What we're trying to do here… This started when one day, one of us (hi i'm mio) came across an old, dead blog dedicated to this type of music while trying to learn more about a band from the 90s or early 00s. I was moved by the fact that I could still find bits and pieces of information about bands that were playing, and stopped playing shows, before I even had the ability to have memories (I'm 20 at the time of writing this:)). I couldn't think of many similar channels for this new generation of bands. We have social media pages for this, but we wanted a publication that all different kinds of people could enjoy, that features art, news and "opinions", something formal enough but REAL - something a little scrapbook-y — a zine.

Our plans going forward The internet is clearly not as permanent as we once thought it was. We're losing fuck-tons of media every day, and the thought of losing, not being able to re-discover, share or pass down our favorite music is daunting. We didn't start this to be an archival project, but we hope to help make this content less easy to disappear by branching out into email newsletters and physical forms of media. Also, we're looking for bands to interview and review, guest writers and photographers who can have their work published on our blog, and even labels and record shops that would like to work together in any way. If you're interested or know someone who might be, please contact us!

We're super excited about this and we've already got a few bands on our roster. Be prepared to see some familiar names! Last but not least, we're brown, queer, and this is NOT a safe space for racists, homophobes, transphobes, misogynists, zionists, ableists and assholes.

We cant wait to show what we have in store for y'all!!
