can we PLEASEEEEE talk about nico sturm's white boy swag PLEASE. like what was that. why were the sharks so intensely hiding his white boy swag. "oh we got him for his face offs" WHAT ABOUT HIS WHITE BOY SWAG. imagine if the sharks had not made a holiday music video we would not have never known about nico sturm's insane white boy swag. ik you all are consumed with thing1 and thing2 and also thing3 and thing4 but what was going on with nico sturm in that video, we need to discuss. why was he the only one giving it's big and i know what to do with it energy. ON THE SHARKS?? HELLO
ALSO. cody ceci can't rap nor should he ever again get his ass off the mic but he DID sound like an npr show host. he has the smooth tenor of a man telling me on all songs considered that this all-female octogenarian shoegaze quartet is going to be playing at hardly strictly bluegrass this year. or like a guy who was an overnight host for a classical music station. he's telling me he's got gershwin to accompany me through the cold winter night. he's signing off with an instrumental version of "st. james infirmary" at 6am. he calls his listeners his "lovers" and gets away with it bc the only people who listen to overnight classic music stations are lonely old men and particularly unwell college students. ohhhh cody ceci you're wasted as a dman you should be romancing old men
#HEAVILY REDACTED BUT I FEEL NICO'S BDE IS THE REASON MARIO HAD TO LIE AND SAY HE'D BEEN YAPPING TOO MUCH#guys i woke up so evil this morning i think i spent six solid hours airing my grievances to ko until i realized it was because my feet#were cold and had been all day. went to beryl and said beryl my feet are cold and beryl said well i think wool socks are going to be#better for you in this climate than cotton and i said WHAT DO YOU MEAN I NEED A NEW WARDROBE FOR AN ENTIRELY NEW CLIMATE#like i did have a winter coat and winter boots to be clear but?? so i made a large wool sock purchase and a smaller slippers purchase#and can i state for the record i did live in baltimore for four years over a decade ago when snow was real. i did live in a colder climate#than the bay area winters i have become accustomed to#but looking back i just have no memory of how i survived that. friends from ohio telling me how to dress i guess#keats got a new parka too. but i bought that before i realized i was cold. but if HE'S cold I'M cold#i think ko heard like every complaint under the sun. i think i invented new things to be cheesed off at as i was going#except the 15 minute interlude where i turned to k and popped off about how the sharks treat goosh#but if i start talking about that again the sap center is in danger of becoming a new feature in the wetlands#fine i will be brave and say it. i think nico said ok if you lost your adhd fidget toy (phone) then i will give you a new one (his dick)#BYE. BYE#fresno oilers.txt#my feet are cold :(#fresno oilers.write

Ubiquitous
Crossing the north/south rail line in Seymour, Indiana, I noticed a headlight. I pulled over and set up for this northbound train, which can be seen with a connector track to the east/west line in town.
The train is on the Louisville & Indiana (former Pennsylvania) with the unseen line being CSX (former Baltimore & Ohio). I was hoping for some spiffy-painted L&I units (which take after the old Pennsy), but instead got yet another dose of the ubiquitous Union Pacific.

Stinker was crossed, it was Christmas Eve and he was stuck inside the locomotive shop with a broken funnel, foot plate, and faulty wiring.
The dock switcher grumbled aloud in disappointment; he should be out helping his best friend Zappy clear the snow off the track and double heading trains. Instead he was inside dangling above the track from a locomotive hoist.
The workers tried to brighten Stinker's spirits by festively decorating the shop and playing Christmas music, but this seemed to annoy the small engine even more.
"My heavens, you would think the Grinch was the one on that hoist with all the grumbling your making." Came a voice.
Stinker immediately stopped and looked down to his left. Standing there below him was an class AC-11 4-8-8-4 Southern Pacific Cab Forward, but Stinker was familiar with this locomotive.
"Whoa Rivet! I didn't see you. How long have you've been there?" Stinker asked."
"Long enough to recite the Nutcracker play in its entirety. Goodness did a Humbug crawl into your smoke box during the night"? Rivet asked.
Stinker blushed out of shame and embarrassment.
"Sorry Rivet, I've just been in a sour mood lately. The workers broke my funnel and footplate and somehow an electrical wire snapped inside me"! Stinker explained.
"I'm sure the workers didn't mean to break you on purpose Stinker, remember everyone is new here to the railroad and trying their hardest to make things run properly, we're all still learning." Rivet responded.
"I know Rivet. I'm just worried about poor Zappy though, he's been doing all the work since I've been put out of commission and the passengers have been complaining that he's emitting a bad smell. That poor engine is gonna work himself to pieces and we can't help"! Stinker said.
" I understand Stinker, but what can we do"? Rivet asked.
"We could really do with a fourth locomotive, one what doesn't come broken." Stinker said.
"Another engine would be nice, but the railroad is unable to determine beforehand if an locomotive is going to work properly or not." Rivet told the smaller engine.
Stinker sighed in defeat. He looked out the windows into the cosmic sky. A comet flew by as he watched.
"I wish we had another engine." Stinker said to himself.

Brownstown Memory
Here are some shots from today—juxtaposed with a couple from the late 1970s (as teased in the previous post).
We're along an old railroad: built (in broad gauge no less) as the Ohio & Mississippi prior to the Civil War. It became the Baltimore & Ohio later, and was still so, though becoming the Chessie System, when I photographed it as an adolescent. This siding is called Brownstown, though it's removed a bit from the burg itself.
I was looking west for the first two images (that is the same curve in both shots, though difficult to tell). I turned for the going-away shot and have a pretty good comparison capture made today.
Five images by Richard Koenig; two from October 22nd 1977, and three from November 13th 2024.
