Crabmeats Exist In The Sonic Movie Universe Part 2
So in a previous post I mentioned that Crabmeat Badniks are canon to the Sonic movies because they show up in a tie-in comic. Well recently in the Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Movie Trailer we get to see one is in the movie.

Mario & Sonic Party part 2
(See Part 1 Here) (and 3 Here)
So I know I said I'd go over Minigame Mode in this part, but the Brain Worms got me at work so first I'm going over the Items.
The Items can be broadly put in four Categories: Neutral, Mario, Sonic, and Board Specific. Neutral and Board Specific Items will appear in both shops (assuming they can be found in the shops at all), while Mario and Sonic Items are exclusive to Toadette and Charmy (or Rocky Wrench and Egg Pawn during BowsEgg Battle Cruiser's shop takeover board event) respectively. The Item Dispensers don't have that kind of exclusivity.
All Mario Items that affect Coins in some way have a Sonic counterpart that affects rings, but other than that the items all have unique functions. Mario Items typically affect the Players' Item inventories, while Sonic items typically affect movement. Also, Items can either be Thrown to modify a Blue or Red space, Consumed immediately, or both, with a few exceptions that have different behavior.
Neutral Items
Double Dice Common Default Price: 5 Coins/Rings Consumable Roll 2 Dice Blocks instead of 1. If they both land on the same number, the Player gets 5 Coins and 5 Rings as a bonus (15 if they're 7's).
Triple Dice Uncommon Default Price: 10 Coins/Rings Consumable Roll 3 Dice Blocks instead of 1. If all three land on the same number, the Player gets 10 Coins and 10 Rings (30 if they're 7's). Sonic's favorite Item.
Cursed Dice Common Default Price: 5 Coins/Rings Throwable/Consumable Replaces the affected Player's Dice Block with one that only goes up to 5. If consumed, the Player can choose an opponent or themselves to use it on. If thrown, the next Player that lands on that space will be afflicted.
Custom Dice Rare Default Price: 12 Coins/Rings Consumable Allows the player to control how many spaces they move, with 10 as the maximum. Changed to Uncommon and costs 8 Coins/Rings on Goomba Hill Zone.
Portal Caster Rare Default Price: 20 Coins/Rings Throwable/Consumable Takes the Player one Space before the Star. On Shrine Jungle, the Player can choose whether to go to Diddy or Tikal. If there is more than one Star Space on other Boards, one is selected at random. Cannot appear on Goomba Hill Zone or Diamond Cassino.
Violet Wisp Super Rare Does not appear in shops. Consumable The player joins with the Wisp to assume the Violet Void form and steals both Coins and Rings from all Players, up to a maximum of 20 of each currency per Player. The Players can mash "A" to struggle against this. Considered Neutral due to affecting both Coins and Rings.
Moto Guy Rare Default Price: 17 Coins/Rings Consumable Summons the Motobug-Riding Shy Guy who hosts Duels. Considered Neutral due to using elements from both series instead of just one. Changed to Uncommon and unable to appear in shops during Story Mode.
Mario Items
Mushroom Common Default Price: 3 Coins Consumable Adds 5 to the Player's Dice Roll. Mario's favorite item.
Hammer Bro Common Default Price: 5 Coins Throwable A Hammer Bro appears and hits the Player who landed on the space, taking 10 Coins.
Piranha Plant Rare Default Price: 18 Coins Throwable When a Player lands here, a Piranha Plant eats everyone on the Space and gives half their coins to the Player who threw it. This is one of two thrown Items that don't affect the Player who threw it when they land on its Space. Petey Piranha's favorite item.
Spiny Shell Uncommon Default Price: 7 Coins Consumable The Player throws the shell, which hits and steals 15 Coins from a random opponent. Knuckles' favorite item.
Blue Shell Rare Default Price: 14 Coins Consumable The player selects an opponent using a Roulette Block, then throws the shell, which explodes and steals 20 Coins from them. Wario's favorite Item.
Bowser Suit Super Rare Default Price: 25 Coins Consumable The Player dons the Bowser Suit, which allows them to both hit two Dice Blocks and steal 30 Coins from every opponent they pass. This skips all types of Passing Spaces, including preventing the Player from choosing a direction besides the default at Junctions. Bowser Jr's favorite item. Does not appear in Story Mode.
Nabbit Uncommon Default Price: 10 Coins Throwable/Consumable If the Player uses this item or lands on its Space, Nabbit will appear and steal an item from a random opponent for them.
Thwomp Common Default Price: 5 Coins Throwable A Thwomp will fall on any Player who lands on this space, making them lose all their Items. Birdo's favorite Item.
Strobulb Rare Default Price: 20 Coins Hold until Needed If a Player has this Item, they can flash it at Boo when it tries to steal Coins or Stars from them, sending it back empty-handed. Luigi's favorite Item.
Red Rare Default Price: 15 Coins Throwable/Consumable If a Player uses this Item or lands on its Space, Red will appear and use his magic to shuffle everyone's Items. Ashley's favorite item.
Wide Block Rare Default Price: 15 Coins Throwable/Consumable If a Player uses this Item or lands on its space, a Wide "?" Block will appear above them, and when they hit it enough random Items to fill their inventory will come out. The space returns to normal afterwards.
Bob-omb Uncommon Default Price: 13 Coins Throwable A Bob-omb will blow up whoever lands on this space, scattering their Items to random Spaces. This causes Items that are normally only Consumable to become One-Time Use Spaces. Waluigi's favorite Item.
Swap Barrel Uncommon Default Price: 10 Coins Throwable/Consumable A Swap Barrel will appear over the heads of the Player and a random opponent, suck up both their Item Inventories, and swap them. DK's favorite item.
Fuzzy Uncommon Default Price: 12 Coins Throwable Any Player who passes this Space gets a Fuzzy latched onto them, which takes away 2 Coins for every remaining Space they move. Yoshi's favorite Item.
Elephant Fruit Rare Default Price: 16 Coins Consumable The Player uses the Elephant Fruit to turn into their Elephant Form, protecting them from hazardous Item effects until it's time for them to roll again, at the cost of their Dice Block maxing out at 5. Daisy's favorite Item.
Bowser Medal Super Rare Does not appear in normal shops, is the only item in Rocky Wrench's Shop where it costs 15 Coins and is mandatory to purchase. As soon as the Player gets this Item, Kamek appears and uses it to turn a random Red Space into a Bowser Space. If there are no Red Spaces left, it cannot appear...except in Rocky Wrench's Shop, where it does nothing but you're still out 15 Coins.
Sonic Items
Crabmeat Common Default Price: 3 Coins Throwable If a Player lands on this Space, a Crabmeat appears and pinches them, taking one item. The Space then returns to normal.
Buzz Bomber Common Default Price: 5 Rings Throwable A Buzz Bomber flies in and shoots the Player, taking 10 Rings.
Boom Boo Rare Default Price: 15 Rings Throwable When a Player lands here, a Boom Boo appears out of thin air and eats all the Players on the space, giving half their Coins to the Player who threw it. This is one of two thrown Items that don't affect the Player who threw it when they land on its Space. Espio's favorite Item.
Coconuts Uncommon Default Price: 7 Rings Consumable A Coconuts appears and attacks a random opponent, stealing 15 Rings from them.
Bat Bomb Rare Default Price: 14 Rings Consumable The Player selects an opponent using a Roulette Block, then is given a Bat Bomb to throw at them, which explodes and steals 20 Rings. Rouge's favorite item.
Piko-Piko Hammer Super Rare Default Price: 25 Rings Consumable The Player is given Amy's giant mallet, allowing them to use two Dice Blocks and smash every opponent in their path to steal 30 Rings each. This skips all types of Passing Spaces, including preventing the Player from choosing a direction besides the default at Junctions. Amy's favorite Item. Does not appear in Story Mode.
Speed Shoes Uncommon Default Price: 10 Rings Throwable/Consumable Forces the Player forward 10 Spaces, and they go so fast they skip all the Passing Spaces and are forced onto the Default Junction path. If the Player uses this on themself, they will still roll afterwards. Cream's favorite item.
Trick Spring Common Default Price: 5 Rings Throwable If a Player lands on this space, their next roll will send them backwards. Metal Sonic's favorite item.
Magnet Rare Default Price: 20 Rings Hold until needed. If a Player has this Item, they can wave it at Cubot when he tries to steal Rings or Stars from them, messing with his circuits and sending him back empty-handed. Vector's favorite Item.
Chopper Remote Rare Default Price: 20 Rings Throwable/Consumable When a player uses this Item or lands on its Space, they're given a remote which summons a Giant Chopper to eat the Star and spit it out in a different location. Does not appear on Goomba Hill Zone, Shrine Jungle, or Diamond Casino. Tails' favorite item.
Spring Uncommon Default Price: 10 Rings Throwable Sends the Player to the location of another Player based on a Roulette.
Chaos Drive Rare Default Price: 14 Rings Throwable/Consumable Causes the Player to swap places with another Player of their choosing. Shadow's favorite item.
Black Wisp Uncommon Default Price: 10 Rings Throwable When a Player passes this space, a Black Wisp forcibly merges with them to put them in Black Bomb form. Then the Player explodes, preventing them from going any further. Omega's favorite item.
Amy Doll Uncommon Default Price: 12 Rings Throwable Any Player who passes this space gets an Amy Doll latched onto them, taking 2 Rings for every remaining Space they move. Blaze's favorite Item.
Green Wisp Rare Default Price: 16 Rings Consumable The Player merges with the Green Wisp to assume Green Hover form, doubling their roll that turn. Peach's favorite Item.
Eggman Medal Super Rare Does not appear in normal shops, is the only item in Egg Pawn's Shop where it costs 15 Rings and is mandatory to purchase. As soon as the Player gets this item, Sage appears and uses it to turn a random Red Space into an Eggman Space. If there are no Red Spaces left, it cannot appear...except in Egg Pawn's Shop, where it does nothing but you're still out 15 Rings.
Board Exclusive Items
Cyan Wisp Rare Does not appear in shops. Consumable Board: Goomba Hill Zone Turns the Player into Cyan Laser form and takes them forward to the next Laser Crystal. If used after the last Laser Crystal, it takes them to the Star Space instead.
Ancient Key Common Default Price: 3 Coins Hold until needed. Board: Labyrinth Bay Opens doors, allowing access to blocked Junction options.
Flare Sprite Only obtainable in Item Minigames Throwable Board: Soleanna-Delfino Crossing When a Player lands on this Space, an orange Flaming Shine Sprite appears, acting as an unblockable combination of Boo and Cubot (meaning it can steal Coins, Rings, or a Star, and Star stealing costs either 30 Coins, 30 Rings, or 20 of each, depending on what you can afford). The Space returns to normal afterwards. As a consequence, Boo and Cubot don't appear at all on this Board.
Wario Card Only obtainable from Item Minigames or as a prize in one of the Board Events. Hold until needed. A special pass that waives the entry fee of your next Board Event. (only valid for Events with set entry fees, Events where you add to the Pot manually will not trigger it)
Barrel Cannon Rare Does not appear in Shops. Board: Shrine Jungle As soon as the Player gets this item, they're shot up into DK's Treehouse, where Cranky and Chaos will give them 20 Coins and 20 Rings, then send them back to the Start platform.
Paper Dragon Super Rare Default Price: 30 Coins/Rings Consumable Board: Papercraft Camelot A massive dragon appears with either Paper Mario, the Smithy (Tails' Camelot counterpart), or both riding it. Depending on who's riding they'll chase off either Bowser, Eggman, or both for 3 Turns. If one of them is already gone, the dragon will always be set to chase the other one. If both are already gone, the item won't activate until one or both of them come back.
Luma Only appears in Bowser's Item Minigame. Board: BowsEgg Battle Cruiser. As soon as the Player obtains this Item, a Yellow Luma appears and turns one of the Bowser Spaces back into a Red Space.
White Wisp Only appears in Eggman's Item Minigame. Board: BowsEgg Battle Cruiser Functionally identical to the Luma, but for Eggman Spaces.
Grand Vortex Star Does not appear in Item Dispensers. Default Price: 40 Coins/Rings Board: Dimensional Collision Zone As soon as the Player obtains this Item, the Grand Vortex Star splits into several normal Vortex Stars that take up every possible Star Space on the Board. All but the last of these Star Spaces will disappear after their Star is bought.
Non-Items
100 Gems Given by Kamek during a Bowser Event. "These gems are probably worth a lot! Too bad Toadette and Charmy can't buy them from you."
100 Egg-Credits Given by Sage during an Eggman event. "The official currency of the Eggman Empire. When Eggman eventually takes over the world, you just might have enough to buy a latte. Maybe."
A Lifetime Supply of Garlic Burgers! One of the "Prizes" in one of Diamond Casino's Board Events, with the others being various amounts of Coins and Rings, a Wario Card, 1 Star, and 3 Stars. Wario, Ashley, Vector and Shadow all have positive reactions to this (though with Ashley and Shadow it's hard to tell...) despite functionally getting nothing. "...They taste a lot better than they smell, I promise."

Determining what Scrapnik Mecha Sonic is made of!
Scrapnik Mecha Sonic is obviously rebuilt from other Badnik parts, but, as a silly little Sonic nerd, with the help of the Encyclo-speed-ia, I've decided to determine the exact badniks that were used to rebuild my favorite Sonic robot.
Part 1 - The Claw Arm
Now, when you first take a look at Mecha Sonic's claw arm, your first thought is likely that it's a Crabmeat claw. However, if you look at the structure of the arm connected to the claw, as well as how the claw is more narrow with a dot in the middle, you notice it doesn't match.
What this claw actually is, is likely a fusion of Skorp from S3&K's tail and claw. Notice how it's a bit more narrow like Mecha Sonic's claw. The ball-like limb structure also matches perfectly. When repairing Mecha, Sigma likely took the tail of an incredibly broken Skorp and ripped the spike ball off of it.
Now, you might be saying "Yakkyr, the coloring doesn't match for the tail," and you'd be right. However, not all of the Scrapniks have fully accurate coloring due to their age. The orange paint on the tail likely wore off over time.
Part 2 - The Sawblade Leg
Now, this one was actually INCREDIBLY easy to pinpoint! It's a Mecha-Bu from Sonic CD.
Now, I had a lot of fun doing this, so if you'd like this to be a little miniseries, let me know!

AI Prompt: Write an entry in Dr. Eggman鈥檚 diary about Swap Monitors.
Dear diary,
I was doing some routine maintenance on my Eggmobile when I came across something truly perplexing: Swap Monitors. These things are supposed to switch the abilities of Sonic and his friends when they hit them, but I can't for the life of me figure out how they work. I mean, it's just a monitor, right? What could possibly make it swap abilities like that?
I had Orbot and Cubot run some tests on the monitors, but they couldn't find anything unusual about them. It's like they just...work. It's enough to make my head spin.
But then I had an idea. What if I could make my own Swap Monitors? I could use them to swap the abilities of my own badniks and make them even more formidable! Imagine, a Buzz Bomber with the agility of a Moto Bug, or a Crabmeat with the firepower of a Batbrain. The possibilities are endless!
Of course, I'll need to figure out how to make them first. But with my scientific prowess, I'm sure I can crack the code. And once I do, Sonic and his pals won't know what hit them.
I can't wait to see the look on Sonic's face when he realizes his precious monitors are now working for me. It'll be priceless!
Until next time,
Dr. Eggman

Crabmeats Exist In The Sonic Movie Universe Part 1
A little fun fact, the Crabmeat Badnik actually exists with the Sonic Movie canon. In a tie-in comic published by IDW as promotion for the second film, a movie version of the Crabmeats show up. The tie-in comic takes place between the first and second film.

just finished my fourth ring racers character and third badnik, taraban! this thing is a variation on the classic crabmeat badnik from sonic 1, and it appeared exclusively in the game gear/master system version of sonic 2. its bicolor design made it novel to me, and thinking about how to palette it led to me learning how to make custom player colors *and* resulted in me making the wild decision to make the kart also bicolored to match. very very satisfied with how this one turned out :)

i love to think about the sonic world because there's so much going on that sega never ever touches on. like. eggman creates thousands of robots bi-weekly, and what happens to them?
scrapnik island exists, so clearly he doesn't keep his resources close to his chest. once they're done, they're kinda just... on their own. (unless they're a particularly important bot like metal sonic.)
so, i think there's a tonnn of old badniks wandering around, to the point where maybe there's this whole group of people who take them, hijack them, and have a sort of underground fighting ring with them. why? because i think that would be AWESOME. who's gonna win this time? jack the rabbit with her modified buzzy bomber? or paula the koala with her motobug-crabmeat fusion???

It's great that we get to see some of Robotnik's drones/machines resemble the badniks from the games.
The Buzz Bombers,
and now we have Crabmeat.
If we ever get to see Metal Sonic, I imagine him having his center piece look like the standard egg drone.
Speaking of which, I hope they bring back the unit from the short Sonic Drone Home.
