Hi it’s me from the previous rant.

Okay so having rewatched the first episode again I noticed a few things. First, Sonic says that the construction crew Knuckles scares off is the 4th one in a month, so most like that’s how long it’s been since the end of the 2nd movie to the series starting.

Next and my main point: Sonic only refers to Maddie by name once, and it’s when talking to Knuckles. This fact could actually lend to why he doesn’t call her “Mom”. Sure he could have said “don’t mess with Mom”, but given how new Tails and Knuckles are to the family it’s not likely they’d view her that way…. (Hopefully) yet. While he could have phrased it as “don’t mess with MY mom”, that might seem exclusionary toward the other two. And since Knuckles calls her Pretzel Woman and Tails calls her Maddie, it makes sense Sonic would also call her name in a similar manner. So maybe no “Mom” yet from Sonic, but I have more hope that the context of the phrasing could explain its lack of use. Maybe like with Tom, Sonic might call her “Mom” when talking directly took her.

We can only hope.

As a side note, the 1st ep also gave us a pretty clear area of where Green Hills is supposedly located; somewhere slightly north of Flathead Lake in Montana. Potential, this is the same lake Tom took Sonic fishing in the start of the 2nd movie.

I thought of that, too! How Sonic technically never used a direct name towards Maddie in the scenes we got, so technically he might be calling her "mom" by now, but we just haven't seen it.

(what I really want to figure out is whether the Knuckles series happens before or after Sonic Drone Home 🤔)

Yes!!! I love getting tidbits on their hometown! And upon seeing this, I went and looked up that lake, and just the thought of "aw, that's where the Wachowskis go fishing 🥹" made me so darn happy. I definitely can't wait to visit Montana! 💙

Honestly I just cannot wait to see this family grow together! And with all the projects they have planned for this universe, here's to hoping we'll get our food! 🤩🥰💙

(can you imagine if we'll ever hear the full name treatment - if Tom or Maddie ever yells "SONIC WACHOWSKI!" when he's in trouble with them or the same basic thing with any of their boys, I'm going to lose it in the best way 🤩🤣)

NGL Sonic looks weird in the series than he did in all the movies. I prefer the first model

I understand the feeling, but fear not. This is temporary. The style that you see for the show is meant only for the show. The rigging that was used to create Sonic’s expressions in the Knuckles series were cut back to fit with the show’s budget and timeline. You won’t see this for the third film.

However, this is the same model used in the second movie. Tyson Hesse talked about this on Twitter a few days ago. He said that the second movie, the “Sonic” in Drone Home and the Knuckles series are the same model. The only thing that changed was the color of Sonic’s fur, as well as rigging the model. What you see in the Knuckles series isn’t going to be the same in the third film.

It's great that we get to see some of Robotnik's drones/machines resemble the badniks from the games.

The Buzz Bombers,

and now we have Crabmeat.

If we ever get to see Metal Sonic, I imagine him having his center piece look like the standard egg drone.

Speaking of which, I hope they bring back the unit from the short Sonic Drone Home.

Oh man 😂 Let's seeeee... Well, if we're talking officially released shorts, well, I'm gonna have to give a top three 🤣😜

I love the animated prologue of Sonic Frontiers with Knuckles, "Divergence." It's an excellent comeback to his character after the 2010s, beautifully animated, and overall so well done! 🤩❤️

I love the 10 minute animation of Team Sonic Racing Overdrive! It's so expressive, even without a single word being spoken by any of the characters. Plus, it's genuinely hilarious. 🤣 All the character dynamics are so clear, again without words. It has beautiful animation, too! 🤩

Then I REALLY love the SCU short "Sonic Drone Home," with our iconic trio of bros, Knuckles, Tails, and Sonic Wachowski! I mean, them basically being out on an errand for Mom, and instead of actually returning the library books, they *cough* greatly damage the "sacred tomes," let Tails adopt a drone, and pick up dinner on the way home. I love the Wachowski kids so much, so getting to see them in a slightly more relaxed situation than the movie was SOOOO fun. 🥰💙💛❤️
