After the struggle of S1 and watching Amy try to survive her own personal hell while Poppy openly lobbied to live with her mother and embraced Kirsten immediately … for Poppy to now officially be a Silva too? My heart.

Hello my lovely! 😊 I've popped back in with another ask of my random atlantis thoughts as I'm going through my rewatch

Idk if it's ever said outright, but I'm pretty sure Teyla is the first friend John's ever had who's been pregnant. Like, he DOES NOT know what to do with her and he's overly protective (which is very sweet but clearly irritating for Teyla)

Bro is TERRIFIED because she's his family! And her baby is his family!! Especially considering the guilt he feels about losing Elizabeth and Carson, of course he's going to be fiercely protective of her!!😭

Sidenote: Ronon found her exercising and she was worried that she wouldn't be able to "keep up" with the rest of the team once the baby was born if she didn't and his response was literally "Who says you have to keep up?" that just 🥺 Literally saying they're going to take care of her no matter what. They're so family I can't 😭😭

john sheppard is afraid of clowns, iratus bugs, and pregnant women and that is fucking canon to me. that man would rather SCALE THE FUCKING TOWER than be around a pregnant woman and i for one think that's fucking hilarious

ALSO i know it was like. Huge Asshole Energy when john grounded teyla from missions but like. all i can think about is how john places the responsibility to keep his team safe 100% on his own shoulders, and i FULLY believe that his team (which is strongest for AR-1 but obviously extends to the whole city) includes the athosians, and by this point they've gone missing, and i really do think john believes he's to blame for it. i think johns harsh reaction was purely fear based- teyla's baby, who very well could end up being the Last Athosian, is at risk because they got shot by stunners. not only is john feeling the guilt from teyla getting stunned, but he now thinks he's putting her baby at risk. of course he freaks out!!!!!! he JUST found out about torren and in the same breath finds out he might've led teyla into a situation where she could lose her baby???????? anyways this was a lot to say yes john 100% sees teyla and torren as family and is SO overprotective of both of them.

also i'm literally never over teyla and ronon's friendship, i LOVE how ronon pivots between beating the shit out of teyla because he knows she'll give it as good as she gets and being the softest most tender soul with her. like the scene where they find out and he holds her hand and congratulates her and asks about kanan 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 IM GONNA SOB AT WORK THEYRE SO god i fucking love teyla and ronon's friendship it's SO fucking good

also you didn't mention this but i'm incapable of talking about teyla's pregnancy without commenting on how obsessed i am with the fact that rodney is the one who delivered her baby. like. i just. it's everything to me i genuinely think it's my favourite thing to happen in the entire show it was the BEST possible decision for the writers to make and i love it it's my favourite thing and i like to think rodney has a special bond with torren bc of it

- also, love seeing Carson again

- Porter and Mehra irritate me so much though. When characters are supposed to be tough but are either written badly, acted badly, or both, it's just so bad. Same thing with characters that are supposed to be hot, like, yuck.

- pfffft, Sheppard and Carson bonding over being in stasis pods

- I really like Vega though, and Teldy is cool

- I also desperately hate the weird thing between Porter and Carson, like, it makes me WILDLY uncomfortable

- see Mehra is great when she's being a bit goofy, but the whole dead pan serious tough as nails thing is so bad. I've never once enjoyed a character like that unless they had something else going on. Like, Teal'c and Ronon have personalities on top of that. I just think she was written badly honestly.

- The Queen, oh boy this episode is wild

- I truly do not understand the whole surgery thing. What exactly are they doing to her and how tf is it not permanent or leaving any lasting effects???

- Ronon's little smile at saying they were getting their asses kicked is so cute

- at least they finally got a new actor to play the Primary wraith queen

- ahhhh Ronon loves her so muchhhh

- oooo and new actors to play the wraith dudes too! Let's goooooo

- it's weird they don't have a life signs detector with them, or maybe Keller has it

- Ronon and Rodney are both like obsessed with Sheppard (for different reasons), but it's hilarious that when they're without Sheppard, they're just a mess of a duo. Like they cannot agree on anything, they're constantly bickering, it's a mess

- idk about y'all, but I ship Keller with Kyrik more than anyone else

- Kyrik is awesome man, I'm really sad we never see him again

- honestly the counsel isn't entirely wrong, but they've been trying their best to fix their mistake and they're the best hope this galaxy has of defeating the wraith

- plus the fact that they woke them up early led to the infighting which gave them the advantage to defeat them

- why're they showing clips of the wraith that was converted long after Michael with the consent of the queen instead of Michael's transformation when that's what they were talking about?

- y'all they are fully tripping if they think the Genii's nuclear plan was going to defeat the wraith, there are far too many for them to have succeeded with a plan like that. Working with Atlantis there could've been a really helpful alliance but instead they decided to betray them again and again

- Atlantis has been making a lot of unilateral decisions yes, but like they said, they're the only ones out there fighting them. The ancients failed and there was no one left with the tech or numbers to stand up to them until the expedition showed up

- a lot of their plans have made things worse in some ways, but that's what happens when you're taking action, you can't be sure how things will turn out most of the time but you have to do something

- SG-1 got shit for this too about how they went about fighting the Goa'uld, but again, they were trying. Granted so were the Tok'ra, but they were also letting people die, leaving worlds enslaved, and had completely written off the Jaffa

- not to mention the fact that they've been expending countless resources giving aid to every society in need they come across, most of the time with zero in return

- these people revere the ancients as gods even though they were quite literally the cause of the wraith and replicators existing and abandoned the pegasus galaxy when they realized they couldn't atop the wraith, but now they put the expedition on trial for accidentally stumbling across what they left??? It's not their fault that the ancients left a damn minefield of awful shit across the whole damn galaxy

- I just noticed that Ronon had to physically drag Sheppard away when Elizabeth was sacrificing themselves

- I know that these people are upset but if they didn't wake them and they had those 50 years to prepare, the lives would've been lost anyway, different lives but lives nonetheless. At least with Atlantis here they have the chance to win and save future generations from this ever happening again

“Once Aegon is dead, your husband is king.” Grandfather said as he inspects the bruising on her neck.

“You are speaking treason, kepa.” Aemma warned and winced as he turned her head.

“Treason is letting him keep his hands after hurting you.” The Seasnake pointed out as he applied some slave for the bruises. “Gods, Rhaenys had told me that your mother had similar marks the day she was crowned. She tried to cover them with powder and denied it, but I would not put it past him.”

“As if I needed more reasons to want him dead.” The princess sat still as he applied some on her cheek for good measure.

“Once your mother is safely on the throne, and you are made Princess of Dragonstone, we will be rid of him.” Her grandfather said.

Maybe if they hastened his death Aemond lives.

At six and ten, he knew that in case he died without issue, Vaemond was to be Lord of the Tides after him and ensured his brother knew all he needed for it.

At nine and ten he knew that if King Jaehaerys refused to allow him to marry his Red Queen, they would take Meleys and his ship and never come back.

They had been foolish then, she seven and ten and he two years her elder. They had fallen in love over the course of one summer when she took it upon herself to protect the Gullet from pirates.

At two and twenty, he had vowed to die with Rhaenys if she and Laenor did not survive the birth.

Now at two and sixty, he knows he would kill Rhaenyra himself if his son and grandchildren were in danger because of her.

He remembers how happy and proud Laenor was when he showed them his newborn daughter.

Barely a lad of twenty and he had responded to those who expressed their sentiments about the baby being a girl with a laugh saying, Son or daughter, she will be queen and the shining jewel of the seven kingdoms.

“In the event of my daughter being unsuitable for the Throne, I need to know that you would back Joffrey’s claim.” The queen has the audacity to speak to her council.

A council who backed her claim and knew Viserys’ last testament dictated that Aemma be her heir.

Viserys had allowed for her to keep her sons and Harwin under the condition that her trueborn daughter inherited.

Corlys loved the boys as if they were his blood, but he would not choose Joffrey over Aemma.

Not when he knew Daemon would escape justice because he was the only father the boy knows.

“No.” Corlys stood his ground, this was the deal they had made.

Rhaenyra stared back incredulously, “No?”

He may believe in male primogeniture, but he was fond of making exceptions for his family.

“I advise we vote on this.” Maester Gerardys suggested to keep things civil. ,

Corlys keeps his face neutral even if he is furious that Rhaenyra would name her bastard son to Aemma’s throne, “Those for Queen Rhaenyra’s change in succession say aye.”

There was an aye, from the Manderly brothers, one Medrick, the Master of Laws and Torren who aspired to Vaemond’s office.

The Maester wisely stays out of it.

“Those against, say nay.”

In the end, you cannot go against the Hand, the Master of Coin, the Master of Ships and the Lord Commander.

“King Viserys made you his heir and in the adjoining clause he made Aemma your heir. By the laws of Westeros, your claim is forfeit if she is not your successor, to make matters much more interesting, she has an heir of her own body who is a child of prophecy just as she was.” Vaemond tries not to smirk as he explains why the lords are unanimously against her.

“She went behind our backs just to meet with the Kinslayer!” Rhaenyra defended her words and Baela winced at the words. “Who is to say what she told him?”

“She asked him to bend the knee, for the sake of the child they have and the love he still holds for her, she asked him to bend the knee to his sister given that he is his brother’s heir now.” Aemma answered her mother’s question and came into the room without bothering to hide the fading bruises on her neck.

Something more damning than anything Rhaenyra could say.

He would not go against her mother, but she would not be the filial daughter, not after she defended Daemon’s actions against her.

A dangerous game, and she knows it.

In Green territory, she was protected by her husband and her unborn child.

In Black territory, she is protected because she is a Velaryon and too powerful in her own right.

“If you wish to believe me or no, it is up to you, but I have not given you cause to doubt my loyalty, your grace.” Aemma said, the formality in her words wounding her mother more than any knife.

“Then why bind yourself to with fire and blood after he killed your brother?” the mother interrogated her daughter as if they were not before the council.

“Because his mother petitioned the High Septon to annul our marriage and declare my son, her own grandson, a bastard as a desperate measure to keep Aemon from being Aemond’s heir. Forgive me for thinking about my child and securing your line should the worst happen.”

That had been a half lie, Aemma and the One-Eye had done it out of love for each other. Corlys had pointed the shrewdness in the Kinslayer’s romantic gesture making her realize that, even as their enemy, Aemond was working with them not against them.

The boy had ambition in spades, many including the Sea Snake had believed he had wed Aemma to get closer to the crown.

But then he had seen how besotted with each other the young couple was and he was forced to accept him as a grandson.

Now he may have to accept him as Aemma’s King Consort should Rhaenyra listen to Daemon regarding the succession.

He is young, young enough to be molded into a different man by guidance and Corlys supposed he was that man to guide him.

“Father struck you.” Baela looked at the fading bruises with suspicion.

No one would believe one’s father capable of such violence.

“Strangled me, more like.” Aemma winced as she swallowed. “Mother struck me.”

Talking was difficult, would be until it heals in some weeks.

“He said you betrayed us all. That you told him Harrenhal was empty.” So that was the story he was running with.

Baela was livid at the false betrayal, but Aemma was enraged at how easily people believed him.

“Did he tell you that he told my mother that father had ran away to the Stepstones when in reality he had him killed? Or that he killed his first wife with a brick to her head?” Aemma seethed.

“You lie, my father would never do that. He loved Uncle Laenor like a brother---” Baela shouted at her as if it would make it all a lie. “Who told you such falsehood, Aemma, was it the Kinslayer?”

“I did. I, who chased after my son’s killer for six years, I, who was warned by Lord Royce who saw Caraxes leave where Rhea Royce died.” Grandfather answered her questions as Baela’s eyes were opened to the truth. “I, who should have saved your mothers from him.”

“I am sorry, Baela.” Aemma apologized to her cousin, stepsister and goodsister. “I know he is your father and you love him, but he is not a good man.”

“Did grandmother knew?” she asked their grandfather, unsure of what she was expecting.

“Yes, it is why you and your sister were sent to foster with her and why Jace and Luke were sent to Vaemond at Driftmark.”

To isolate them from his influence and protect them if need be.

“What did you do with the kinslayer then?” one sin she can forgive, but not the other.

“Remarried him, the High Septon can’t annul a Valyrian marriage and when Aegon finally dies, his faction would have no choice but to crown the man who will bend the knee to mother on the condition that she grants him a fair trial.” The Princess of Dragonstone for once felt hopeful.

“He killed your brother, he doesn’t deserve one, Aem.” Baela reminds her, as if telling her that if Daemon was terrible so was Aemond.

“That is the thing, Baela.” Aemma began the sordid tale as to what really happened the night Luke died.

two characters: Klinger vs Teyla FIGHT

Who would win in a fight? Definitely Teyla. Klinger would put in a good effort, but he's got nothing on her.

Who would be a better roommate? Hmm, this one is challenging. I think for me right now, Teyla. But college me would've loved to live with Klinger.

Who's better in bed? Teyla. I kind of want Klinger to win some of these, but Teyla...

Who I'd pick to be my presidential running mate? Again, Teyla. Although, in all fairness, she would make a much better president than I would. I'm thinking a Teyla/Klinger ticket would be best.

Whose shoulder I'd cry on Klinger. Hands down. Teyla would also be great, but Klinger would be perfect.

Who would make a better parent? Don't make me cry. I'm going to cry. Klinger holding the baby in Yessir That's Our Baby vs. Teyla with Torren. I don't want to make this choice. They both fight so hard for family in completely different ways. I can't choose. If I have to, I'd say Klinger just because he doesn't get kidnapped nearly as much as Teyla (not her fault).

Who I'd rather date Teyla, but only because I'm feeling pretty sapphic at the moment.

I love listening to music. I love to play the same 10 songs over and over again, each for different walking situations whether that be the I'm running late for the train or I need to go to the shop and buy some more mushrooms, I will always have my headphones on as I complete my silly little daily tasks. Songs I listen to rushing to work to pour Doom Bars for Dave

New Bottega - Torren Foot & Azealia Banks. (2023).

This song has a hard fast beat. Kind of the way that drum and bass makes a person feel after taking drugs, but you get the same effect on the way to your minimum wage job.

GOT UR NUMBER - v2 - bugcried. (2020)

A quite frankly poorly produced song that makes me want to run a mile with its harsh elements of hyperpop. Love it.

Buzzkill - Take Van. (2022)

Another song with a harsh hardcore beat. Feels fun in the same way it does when a family member would go 2mph over the speed limit.

@haledamage yay, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I love writing our kids together, their dynamic is so great.(It makes me wish I had the know-how and resources to actually make Vikkari a companion in the game, and then get a little sad that I can’t xD) For all his worrywart tendencies, he knows and doesn’t discount people’s capabilities. So unless he’s in full mother hen mode(LANN WEAR A SHIR- wdym you don’t get sunburn???), he not likely to baby someone. And part of what attracts him to Etain in the first place is her skill, so the last thing he’s gonna do is devalue that and act like she’s helpless.🥰🥰

Sarerae’s matchmaking pretty hard there, yeah. Desna might be helping a bit too(Vikkari did have a reason he went to the chapel, but promptly forgot it when he saw Etain was there xD). I see this as being ~a week before the assault on the Midnight Fane, which is where the lock in for his romance would happen, so we’re very close to this being some level of official. :D 

I had to take advantage of the fact they’re sitting down--and thus basically the same height--to do a forehead kiss. 🥰 I was toying with having him kiss the scar right at the top edge of her mask, but went with forehead bc a) there’s a cheek kiss as part of his romance lock, so we can say that happens there, b) forehead kisses make me scream, and c) it felt like it fit the current stage of their relationship better. There’s definitely attraction on both sides, but neither’s taken the step to “do something” and make it more serious/official yet (but soon👀). There’s a gentleness and intimacy to a forehead kiss that--aside from making me screech internally--is less likely overstepping boundaries. And then he’s still worried he did that. the ETAIN.EXE not responding must have been showing on her face. xD He’s really truly smitten by this point and doesn’t wanna do anything that makes her uncomfortable. 

It really is a perfect prompt for them; they and AJ/Nate both went 👀👀 immediately and loudly, a couple other pairings eyed it from a distance, but these two started talking first in terms of plot and dialogue. Such a good fit for them.
