this is where the big cultural divide really shows. because changing the wraith was a VERY BAD idea. teyla told them and, ronon told them. but their concerns were ignored or dismissed or waved off. and when teyla here points out that she capitulated to john's (and earth's by extension) insistence, it was done out of trust in john. because she realized that as an alien no one was listening to her. i think there would have been some greater resentment if she'd realized it was also because she was a woman, and because of the colour of her skin.

the writers had really written themselves into a corner with the wraith. there was no way for them to have a war and win, not without completely wiping out the wraith. taking out every last queen, elite, and drone. and on earth that has a name*, it has a history, and it is horrific. turning the wraith human was a very bad idea, but it was the solution they landed on. like slapping a shitty paint job over the whole thing. because that was not something they could advocate for even on a sci-fi show.

i am glad that they didn't allow this story line to be anywhere near successful. that their every effort with the retrovirus turned from one horror to the next, over and over and over again. they paid the price for carson's fears and john's guilt and the general sense of earth superiority.

*no i am not using the word here because it is part of our current events in several places in the world and i will not detract from those posts with a possible blip of a fandom post.

I guess i just want you to be fine with it too.
