Because, while she loved her mother, her mother was the queen of unrealistic expectations. And not everyone could be as flawless as she was, maintaining the wall that kept their kind safe and protected from the Brotherhood and all of their bullshit. "Ten bucks says she wants to have breakfast to remind me that I need to provide an excellent example, and be perfectly perfect in every way. Like some kind of Mary Poppins." 

"Hey now, Miss. Poppins is one of the best witches in known history." Torren joked, earning himself an exaggerated sigh from the witchling beside her. "I know that your mother scares the hell out of you, baby. But you can't avoid her, she owns the place."
