Headcanon that before Aang earned his arrows by inventing the air scooter, he tried to earn it by "inventing" the air spinner trick.

He was told that the trick does not count as a unique Airbending technique and either way it was already invented 300 years earlier by master Kelsang.

I'm sorry but Kyoshi's identity as the Avatar being revealed because one day she randomly improvised a song/poem while working at the kitchen and Kelsang recognized it as the love poem Kuruk wrote for Rangi's —Kyoshi's future girlfriend— mother is still the funniest lore in the entire Avatar franchise. Like it was like

Kyoshi: *simply improvising a love song about a beautiful woman with black hair and bronze eyes*

Kelsang: *freaking out because he recognizes the poem and has realized she's the Avatar*

Meanwhile, the rest of the servants probably believing the poem is about the scary Fire Nation girl who thinks nobody sees her fucking sprinting across the estate every time she has to meet with Kyoshi:

Like seriously, fucking funny. The only thing that could be as funny is Eska and Desna legalizing same-sex marriage and just showing up at gay weddings in the Northern Water Tribe.

It's so much fun designing Avatar characters. I love getting to research the different influences that contribute to the worldbuilding

Kyoshi, blushing: It was relevant...

Hei-Ran: How?

Kyoshi: Well, there was this poem... That's how Kelsang knew I was the Avatar and ---

Rangi, interrupting: What do you mean?

Hei-Ran: You entered the Avatar State in our battle against Tagaka. That's how we knew.

Kyoshi: You see, no... you know, this is not about the poem!

Rangi: So you did know!

Kyoshi: No! No, I thought the poem was about you!

Hei-Ran: What?

Kyoshi: No, not like that! I thought I'd come up with it!

Rangi: How a poem that was supposedly about me would make Kelsang think you were the Avatar?

Kyoshi, looking at Rangi, then at Hei-Ran, and back at Rangi, blushing intensely and gesturing widely: Well, you two are terribly similar!

Hei-Ran, sighing and pursing her lips: Terribly, indeed...
