I will not let the good name of “its” be besmirched like this! “Its” being possessive and yet not having an apostrophe is perfectly grammatical. “It” is not a noun that ‘s would be added onto, like cat. The cat’s yarn. “It” is a pronoun! The possessive form of said pronoun is “its”, like the possessive of “her” is “hers”.

English is fucked up but that one part of it is perfectly natural
