Evan has the most monotone voice, never changes tone when talking, could be info dumping, asking how someone is or complaining it’s always the same. the only person who managed to make it change is Barty when he makes him laugh and Evan quips a sarcastic remark back without thinking

I am a strong believer in autistic Evan who goes non-verbal when he's stressed or overwhelmed or even just very excited about something. He feels things so strongly that he doesn't know what to do and can't verbalise any of it. Barty or Pandora have to hold him really tightly to calm him down but sometimes because the pressure helps, but also it can just take time so he hides under the covers in the empty dorm with the curtains drawn.

We always talk about how James thinks he is too much and Regulus thinks he’s not enough, but may I propose the opposite? James, who is constantly living for others, afraid that he isn’t good enough for them so he burns himself out trying to be energetic and positive, while there’s Regulus, who is afraid that talking about his emotions and feelings too much will scare people away and will make them realize how different he really is from the rest of them, so he shuts himself out.

Regulus has a fear of being too much, that’s why he is so closed off. James is afraid of not being enough, that’s why he puts himself out there

Autistic Regulus who loves spinning around as a stim and as a kid sirius would join him and flail his arms around it would help him get out pent up anger. When he started dating James he would spin around too because it helps with his ADHD. Barty would join him because he found it helps with his anxiety and Evan did it to help with his dysphoria because it made him feel waitless.

So this might be long but I’ll start with he makes everyone feel like they are speaking in code, James will ask him to watch this movie with him(wanting to spend time with him) and Rgeulus while wanting to spend time with James says no bc he doesn’t want to watch the movie(etc. etc.), it makes James feel crazy at first till he learns how to communicate it properly.

He has a lot of sensory quirks; pants that are tight, shirts that go up his neck, only one hand being wet(he has to wet the other one before drying them), hair on his body especially when it runs against clothes(I have this and it SUCKS bro), and like food with slimy textures (pudding, yogurt, jello’s with other things in the to add texture).

He can make eye contact and he does but he overthinks it like crazy; which eye to look at, how long to hold it, what expressions he is make, what expressions others make and what they mean. I feel like he wouldn’t be great at reading facial expressions unless the person is like actively laughing or crying.

Everything has always felt a bit unfamiliar or foreign to him. He constantly feels out of place even when surrounded by loved ones, and while this gets better with time it never goes away.

He has very strict rules with himself; the way he does things and his routines as he moves about life, and when these routines get messed up his hole day is off because he doesn’t know how to return to his normal.

He has a lot of meltdowns, is that the right word(?), idk but that’s how I’ll phrase it. When he has these he can’t stop crying, his sensory issues skyrocket, he feels a bunch of pent up energy in his body. And shutdowns(?) where he feels tired and kinda sick and tired, especially after long social interactions.

He struggles joining in conversations. He doesn’t know what the right thing to say or the right time to join is. So he sits there with quiet words coming and stopping till someone notices him. And then when he goes home he constantly rethinks it.

And finally he is constantly talking way too loud to the point that it annoys people or way too quiet to where no one can hear him(he leans toward quiet most of the time) and he thinks over it a lot; all the times he said thank you or a compliment and the person didn’t hear him so he just seemed rude, or when he says things way too loud and ruins the vibe. He really only talks in a normal speaking voice when he is in a comfortable space.

This idea is completely random and has no reason at all, but I'm still gonna write about it

Regulus, who impulsively bites the living shit out of anyone he's close with, or really just anything near him.

It all starts when he's a kid when he and sirius are hanging out together. They're in sirius's room, and sirius reaches out his arm in front of Regulus's face to get something. And in that moment, Regulus just decides to bite sirius's arm for absolutely no reason. Of course, sirius being dramatic as always, let's out the most high-pitched shriek known to man kind (luckily, their parents weren't home). Ever since that day, Regulus was just addicted to biting things. He's brushing his teeth? well, he's also biting the bristles out. He's drinking out of a random cup? Well, he's also biting the edge of it. He usually does it on pure impulse (which he usually never does except when it comes to this), but he also finds it really soothing.

After some time, he finds alternative things to bite, like his nails, fingers, and sometimes arm. The first time he bites an actual person at Hogwarts is halfway through his first year. At this point, him, Barty, and Evan have grown very close and are all relaxing in their dorm after a day full of tests. Regulus's head is in Barty's lap as Barty rants about something he couldn't care less about while Evan is sitting on the bed across from them nodding his head and occasionally adding funny remarks. As Barty continues ranting, he starts to talk with his hands, like he usually does when he has a strong opinion about something, and Regulus just decides to bite him. In a split second, he bites Barty's thumb, causing Barty to yelp in surprise and yell, "Holy shit Reggie, I know I'm irresistible, but damn!". From then on, Regulus just randomly bites his friends he's extremely close with because he feels like it.

i know you mentioned evan's terrible eating habits, but why does he only live off digestive biscuits? i know for a FACT generational wealth grants him leeway to hire a personal chef, so why is his diet the way it is?

autism & food sensitivity! i see evan as having a lot of sensory/textural preferences in general, and it affects things like the clothes he wears and the food he eats. it's the combination of generational wealth and magic and parental neglect that lets him just eat porridge & digestive biscuits for weeks straight unimpeded. he doesn't like strong flavors or mixed textures.

but it's important to me that the other skittles don't, like, judge him for these things?? perhaps it's not the healthiest thing but the attitude is mostly: that's just Evan! and barty especially really pays attention to his preferences. he's the one supplying the biscuits
