Summary:  Imagine Danny goes to college in Gotham. Given his halfa nature, he's fairly not worried about most parts of Gotham and given he needs less sleep now, he likes to wander campus and Gotham itself like he's a natural Gothathes…at night like the half dead-half living man he was.

During these wanderings, he finds pieces of bat tech from fights. He figures it's safer in his care(and because he's really curious about the local vigilantes) so…he takes it.

It's usually just tiny things that the bats– probably –wouldn't even notice gone and he has things to fiddle with now. Unfortunately(for the bats), he finds Red Hood's destroyed helmet and takes it back to his dorm to fix, figuring it would allow him to return most of the items he snatched without a second thought. He doesn't realize it has an active tracker in it so the bats, when they activate it and discover it on the Gotham University campus, reasonably panic and flip on the camera...only to come face to face with adoption bait using bits of their missing tech to fix the helmet.

Idk how to make a good intro to this but i’ll just try by starting with: theres a difference between fanfics and books

For fanfics it’s okay to have a shitty title, a song related title or just a whole ass quote(all tho that last ones debatable) theres still a lot of fanfics with great titles though.

This one seems obvious but please at least make your book SEEM interesting

But if you do want or need a good title let me help. I have no idea where to start so jm just gonna give u a couple of things to keep in mind withoutany particular order.

Okay so idk how to start this but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep your title at two words or less. If you have three… fine i guess but thats the absolute limit. Also absolutely avoid going over four syllables! That also in most cases means: no quotes, not songs etc unless theyre short enough. This is not optional! There’s nothing that i hate more than a name that takes ages to say when i try to recommend a book or show or movie which is why i simply dont do it. And you don’t want that. You want your storry to be recommended. Like the summer i turned pretty. Great book. Great plot. The title almost made me not read it.

Talking about at one. The summer i turned pretty also made no sense what so ever! Especially with the sequels??? Please make your titles make sense for the story! And if you wanna do sequels i’m BEGGING you to keep that in mind for the title.

Dont spoiler anything but for fucks sake make it make sense

Also pls dont start it with “the” cuz thats bad enough as it is but thats not even my point: if you dont want something boring as the MC’s full name, you also dont want something like the important object or just some random noun i promise. It CAN work if its like a name for a group of people like the outsiders or a gang name or smt but its like that it won’t so just… dont

I’d also avoid using original words that u amde up for the story. This isn’t necessarily smt that makes the title bad but it automatically means that it’s harder to remember so if you wanna be recomended thats probably a No. Unless its super easy to remember foe whatever reason.

So now that ive told you what NOT to do, let me give you some ‘DOs’

So theres several kinds of titles.

My personal favourite are like word plays. Not necessarily puns bc they often create new words which are as we’ve established hard to remember. But just something with a double meaning or something like that… i love that

Something else that always works are inconsistencys. Nothing like titles that contradicts itself! It sparks confusion and most importantly: INTEREST. People wanna know what the fuck is up with that. And it can alsk be rly soothing (for some reason)

References and innuendos are smt else i’ll never say no to if they’re used right. This can also overlap with wordplays. Famous (short) quotes or sayings, places or names are never not it

Smt else that slaps is good ol’ simplicity. Be bold. This👏does👏not👏have👏to👏be👏a👏spoiler! I promise you that just because you make it obvious what’s the book about that won’t spoiler shit.

Talking about: i love a good On-The-Nose title especially because most people expect nothing less than the exact opposite of it. Dont get me started on how banger of a title “They Both Die At The End” would be if it were just a little shorter!

And lastly even tho fullnames are an absolute turn-off last names can be sooo good. Especially when they’re about the whole family and especially when they’re in singular

Was it sudden? Yes, given he had come to the mall with them, but they tried not to worry. This was Jason, after all. The man probably had "crime lord" business to handle that allowed him an easy out of socializing.

It only became worrying when dinner went by and he was seen walking into a camera's blindside at the mall with a teen but not exiting the mall.

Danny is a sewer monster. He is a little snakey fella.

The Bats catch word of a creature in the sewers that not even Grundy or Killer Croc want to tussle with.

This is how Jason ends up treking through the sewers looking for whatever stole his favorite jacket. He stumbles across a nest(?) that has an odd glowing rock in the middle. He found his jacket though...wrapped around the rock.

Danny finds Red Hood in his nest, the guy isn't hurting Ellie so he seems all right.

Now the Bats are panicking because Jason's gone missing.

Jason is not complaining.

1 . What is the main lesson of your story?

Honestly The Commune kinda just came about after I was playing bitmoji one day lol, I hadn’t really thought much of it at the time but I definitely think there are a couple important lessons to be learned from this story.

I guess the main theme would be: things aren’t always what they seem. Throughout the story, the characters face a lot of obstacles and the only way they can really get through those obstacles is to realize that how they initially viewed certain events and people weren’t necessarily accurate, so they start to open their minds more and stop taking everything at face value which is ultimately more beneficial for everyone.

Another lesson I think can be taken from this story is that everyone copes differently. I think this is also a really big overall theme of The Commune because a lot of the events that unfold are centered around grief and how different people are coming together to deal with their loss, and through the main characters of this story may have taken a bit of an extreme route lol, the lesson still stands, at the end of the day we’re all human, we love and feel deeply and we when we lose someone we love, we hurt deeply and we should allow ourselves room to grieve (but maybe don’t start a cult for it😂).

Well there are probably more things that can be taken from this story but I think I’ll wrap it up here lol so the last one is: ✨authenticity✨ As I mentioned earlier, the main characters in this story face a lot of different challenges, which were mostly self made😂 The big takeaway from that is you should always be your most authentic self, even if you’re embarrassed, or you feel like you look stupid, or whatever you’re self conscious about. You will always feel better living your truth than living a lie for the anticipated validation of others💖💖

2 . What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding?

I’d say my world building for this story was inspired by Pretty Little Liars, I loved that show as a kid and I guess I always kinda wanted to recreate that sort of eerie thriller vibe that’s still like lighthearted and fun lol. They’re also both set in Pennsylvania as well which actually wasn’t really intentional lol I just wanted this story to be set there because I grew up there and miss it very much. So yeah, The Commune shares a lot of similarities with Pretty Little Liars but there’s also a lot of parts about it that are very different, for one, The Commune is set at a University instead of high school. Pretty much all my stories are set in college lol being that I’m currently a college student so I guess that’s just easiest for me to write about atm😂. I also want this story to be slightly more edgy I guess, idk exactly what the word is lol but basically, this is kinda my first time really trying my hand at the horror and thriller genre (because I normally write fantasy, romance, and fanfics) and I just wanna do it justice. The main characters feel like they’re being haunted by their late friend and I really want to convey that throughout the story as well as the other drama that unfolds and have readers on the edge of their seats.

3 . What are your main characters trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness or help the reader grow as a person?

The Commune has 4 main characters and I’d say they all have relatively the same goals for the bigger picture: to find out the truth about their late friend and all the drama surrounding his death, but they definitely have different views on how they should achieve those goals, and then of course their smaller picture goals are different as well which are mostly personal goals to do with their studies, relationships, self love/acceptance, etc. I would say the goal I’m trying to achieve with these characters is that I want readers to see how important friendship is. The commune is centered a lot around grief but also around love, friendship, and forgiveness. Especially with this particular set of friends, I want the audience to see that you should trust your gut in your friendships. The main characters of this story almost let a master manipulator break them apart, and if it wasn’t for the truth being revealed to them, they would’ve kept believing the lies that he told them, lies that ruined a good friendship. I’ve personally seen a lot of good friendships ruined over lies and manipulation and it always breaks my heart, so I hope that I can encourage even just one person to not let that happen in their friendships.

4 . How many chapters is your story going to have?

I’m planning on this story having like 100 chapters max. I don’t want it to be too long (or maybe I do idk lol I’m kinda playing it by ear) but there’s a lot that has to happen and it’s being told through like 4 different povs so that makes it a little tricky lol. It sounds kinda long when I say it out loud, but I feel like the chapters are quite short honestly so unless I make them longer it’s probably not going to be a very long story even if there’s a lot of chapters.

5 . Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

The Commune is an original work. I have worked on fanfics in the past and maybe I will again, after I finish my current WIPs, but as of right now my fanfics are kind of on the back burner I guess. I’m planning on posting it on Wattpad as I don’t really write anywhere else but I am currently looking for more platforms to publish my work so if anyone knows any feel free to comment them lol.

6 . When did you start writing?

I started writing in like elementary/ middle school, so I knew I had a passion for that pretty early on I guess lol. Writing’s always been a way for me to escape whatever’s going on in my life, where I can just be free with my art, like my safe haven I guess lol. I didn’t really start writing fanfics or even posting the stuff I wrote until later on though, I think in like eighth grade. And then a few short years after that I took a longgg break from writing, but it feels good to get back to it now😊

7 . Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr?

Do it. Write your story. Stop making excuses to not follow your dreams. It might not always feel like it but your hard work will pay off if you put your faith in yourself and work towards your goals. It’s time to invest in yourself and what makes you happy, so do it💕💖💖
