The whole transandrophobia discussion thing is weird bc it feels like it's a bunch of poc and jewish trans people being like "here are my experiences of how specifically being MASCULINE had affected me, and the discrimination and violence I experienced based on that. And here is how that relates to me being a racial/ethnic minority"
And then a few loud white trans people going "ohhh you wanna be oppressed so bad you *slur*. This is why there aren't any poc in your movement it's because REAL poc understand intersectionality"
#hot take white culturally christian or athiest leftests do not properly interpret white jewish ppl#like as a poc i and other poc understand that white jewish ppl often get racial privilege#but a) not always b) they experience oppression based off of their ethnicity#idk from my perspective it seems like white goyim either see jewish ppl as 'the disgusting exotic enemy' or 'basically WASPS but they#wanna feel special'#with no nuance. no recognition#look maybe this next part is bc i didnt grow up with jewish ppl and therefore didnt know until I was 18/19 that jewish ppl can count as#white. but like. idk how to say this. i dont wanna speak over white jewish ppl. but like.#jewish ppl that have obvious jewish features (whether Ashkenazi facial features OR they dont have those but wear eg kippahs)#arent like. white. idk pls correct me if this is antisemitic or incorrect or something.#but like. light skinned =/= white obviously.#i just struggle to see how my bestfriend with her lovely dark eyes and curls and nice nose counts as 'white' when ppl call her the k slur#across the street. ykwim?#like white doesnt mean light skinned. it means 'part of the in-group of white ppl'#like my ex who is white and jewish? yeah hes white. if he didnt wear his necklace then goyim wouldnt know. you know#like obvs he still experiences ethnic oppression but he doesnt experience racial oppression#but other ppl with more prominent eg ashkenazi (im singling them out bc most jewish ppl here are ash.) like i dont GET how they have racial#privilege.

I was blown away by this post and need to talk about it, or I will never sleep lol. I wish I could show you our entire conversation but the OP deleted all my comments so I couldn't screenshot anything.
https://whereserpentswalk.tumblr.com/post/747399887511060481/the-nazis-that-you-see-in-movies-are-as-much-a
"Nazis weren’t atheists or pagans. They were deeply Christian and Christianity was part of their ideology just like it is for modern conservatives. They spoke at lengths about defending their Christian nation from godless leftism. The ones who hated the catholic church hated it for protestant reasons."
The nazis, including Hitler, were absolutely not supporters of Christianity, you don't even need to be a Christian to see why this is so problematic. The main idea of Christianity is that Jesus is the Messiah, the one and only Son who loved the world so much he sacrificed his life to pay the debt of our sins.
Jesus isn't just not Aryan, or not white. He is a Jew. Christians literally worship him, seeing him as both fully human and fully divine.
Hitler taught that Jews were inferior, the scum of the Earth, deserving of inhumane treatment and death. Why would he support a religion that worships a Jewish man as the Messiah?
Furthermore, the gospel teaches that ALL people, regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, etc. We're made equal in the eyes of God, and that we all came from the same two people.
Hitler taught that the Aryans were the superior race, and preached the inferiority of anyone else. Why would he support a religion that so blatantly contradicts his teachings?
But wait- if Hitler and the Nazis were against Christianity, why did they employ Christian rhetoric in speeches? Why did they negotiate a treaty with the Vatican?
If you are a psychopath vying for support and leadership in an overwhelmingly Christian nation, are you really going to talk about how useless you see Christianity, or how it is a threat to your rule? Of course not. Hitler was a demagogue. He wanted to appeal to the common 1930s German citizen, which meant he would need to appeal to Christians.
It wasn't until he had secured power that he could finally show his true colors, breaking his promise to the Vatican to not interfere with the rights of the church. Among the many groups persecuted in the holocaust were Christians, especially Roman Catholics. Clergy in Germany and other territories were closely supervised to make sure they didn't contradict the Nazi teachings, Catholic organizations were shut down, and many prominent Christians were sent to camps for forced labor and execution.
I pointed out some of these the the OP, to which they responded
Tumblr media
How stating that the Nazis weren't supporters of Christians and that Christianity cannot coexist with Nazism makes me a holocaust denier, I don't know. I'm not the one denying that a certain group was persecuted by the Nazis (the OP stated in a comment of theirs that the Christians put into camps were only attacked for their ethnicity, not their religion) and trying to make it look like the Nazis actually loved and cared about that group.
I also don't understand how Christianity is inherently antisemitic. I asked the OP what about it was antisemitic, so after deleting all my comments, they blocked me. If you have the answer, let me know, I am genuinely curious.
It makes me sad to see that people actually believe this kind of propaganda. Also, if you're going to make a post about the evils of Nazism, you probably shouldn't use misinformation to villianize and scapegoat a group, or censor people who speak out against said misinformation. Just saying.

I'm 🇺🇸 and my bff is iranian, we live in 🇸🇪. sometime after oct 7th we met our swedish friend who was going on and on abt poor palestine and evil israel and why weren't we more horrified about it (and participating in the performative "isn't it sooo awful' rigamarole) and my bff basically said "well to me hamas is the same as isis, alqeada, whatever. and what shocks and horrifies me is how fucking fast westerners jumped to defend/promote literal terrorists who would kill me and my friends given the chance (she's athiest, her brother is gay, she won't cover her hair, etc etc) so it's hard for me to have an opinion on that. I would rather live in israel because I would be allowed to be a person there"  and the other girl was like “...but children are being bombed!!” and I was like... yeah? Children are being bombed in Ukraine too, and a million other places (but we're not expected to do this performance about any of them). It’s a war? Excuse me but I would rather have a bomb dropped on my head than be tortured and raped to death and then the rest of the world celebrates it?! I can’t get over it. i/p has absolutely nothing to do with me and yet I’ve unfollowed so many accounts and deleted insta bc the sht people are posting makes me feel physically ill. I want to somehow apologize to the jewish girls I knew in uni for anything dismissive I ever said, I had no fing clue how insanely antisemitic people are. I’m also so fing sick of swedes being like “omG have u heard of ColOnIAliSm?! Did u know that 🇮🇱 is doing colonialism?!?" like yeah, we learn about colonialism in school. I also did IR/history on the graduate level. You wanna talk about arab colonialism then? no? you just wanna be shocked that I had basic history in highschool even though I'm a stupid american, and also somehow you have no clue that judaism is older than islam and christianity even though I KNOW that is in your basic elementary school curriculum? ohhkkaay. I don’t know what the point of this message is, except I hope you’re doing ok I don’t think I could cope w the world the way it is if I were any closer to this. I feel like I'm in upside down world and everyone has gone insane
Nonny, this was a lot and I don’t really know how to respond but I hope it was a cathartic release for you and I appreciate what I think is the well-intentioned sentiment behind it 🩷

This is also the future of the free Palestine movement if we don't snuff out antisemitism in our own communities. Your leftist ideas will not ever survive your reactionary ones.
Remember that radfems aren't the first time in internet history the right has stolen a left wing movement through stowing division. Skeptic YouTube had the same thing happen ten years ago.
In the 2000s and early 2010s skeptic/atheist YouTube (and their entire community its not just YouTube) was left wing. Their biggest by far target were evangelicals. And when they did start arguing with feminists (though this was the beginning of the end, as it was used as an in by the right), they were largely talking agaisnt neoliberal capitalist feminism from a leftist perspective.
The atheist vitriol, while often going way too far, was still the rage of a marginalized group. Atheists are unquestionably marginalized in the west, often in the same ways as queer people. The atheist internet, though very very flawed, was the first marginalized community on the internet to make a name for themselves. And I say this as someone whose no longer an atheist despite being raised one.
The skeptic community drifted right wing around 2016, mostly by becoming afraid of other minority groups. And, like all reactionaries, reactionary elements in the group turned anger at capitalist systems into anger at marginalized people.
And just like how people who used to call themselves feminists are now fighting for the most ridged gender rolls imaginable, most of those people who used to call themselves atheists are currently either converted to the worst forms of chrsitantiy, or defending them as western values.
If you want to see the future of people like the lgb alliance, look at Sargon of Akkad, someone who used to be an atheist demsoc, who has now become a reactionary mouthpiece, defending evangelical Christians on his podcast, until the end of time.

pretty hard to understand how you could hear jewish people complaining about things as varied as:
(1) how christianity's idea of god as A Big Guy In The Sky has pervaded the public consciousness and diluted how we traditionally view god (if we're significantly assimilated, i mean. even we have to unlearn this)
(2) how antisemitic tropes which have been and will always be deeply, historically christian like blood libel have worked their way into 1) the western social vernacular and 2) much of modern conspiracy regardless of the beliefs of the people who continue to spread them
(3) the fact that for a long time, jewish people were seen as outsiders due to being non-anglo saxon and non-christian to the point that even canada and the united states (which claim to be secular) had university quotas on us through the 1950's. that jews were also kept out of sundown towns. that jews couldn't be a citizen in every (then extant) usa state until over a hundred years since the country's founding.
and thought "ah yes, clearly jewish people have made the concept of cultural christianity up in order to hurt ex-thiestic athiests. clearly, their pain, their experience and their thousand-year history of being pushed to the periphery in the name of christianity (even by countries and people with no official religion) has been constructed to be entirely about me."
it isn't about you or anyone being an athiest. we aren't upset with anyone because they're an athiest. it's about us asking, pleading with people to realize that they are shaped by the environments in which they grow up. yes, people can be deeply traumatized by the environments of sacred places. they can overcome that trauma! they can come to appreciate all the things which once brought them shame.
but to make an analogy— if you grow up having never heard of or seen a single drop of rain, you wouldn't know it exists. let's say you live in a community that shares that experience. an entire country founded in a land in which has never known rain. eventually, you go traveling and meet someone who tells you about how much it rains in their country. they explain rain to you without any ulterior motive. do you accuse them of lying, of making something up, of being hostile with you simply because you've never seen rain?
this is what it sounds like when people who grew up immersed in xtianity, even if they've left and healed, try to tell jewish people we're inventing our own discomforts in the name of blaming somebody else.
as for people who didn't grow up christian but in some other faith, i think they're likely left with some mixed impact of mass christian socialization and their ex-faith, just like some jewish atheists are. it isn't a bad thing to be a non-blank slate. it doesn't make one less of an athiest. i think trying to obtain that sort of tabla rasa is futile. as long as we keep growing and understand how the ways we've been socialized provide us with privileges or perspectives others aren't given the freedom to grow up without... that's what matters. we can hold that and develop strong, personal, present beliefs about god at the same time.
I’m also seeing Jewish people complain about the broad definition of “cultural Christianity” as well, are you asking me to instead ‘speak over’ them instead?
1) Christianity does that, not all religions do that, but also Christianity isnt the only religion to use an anthropomorphic conception of God as an authority figure. Since I was just looking at Sarah Stroumsa’s “Freethinkers of Medieval Islam” I’ll leave another excerpt
Tumblr media
The mention of 10th century Kararites as believing Rabbincal Judaism had an “anthropomorphic” view of God is something that I found interesting. I dont know much about Kararite theology or the overall history of it but its a sentiment that does strike me as fitting in with the broader Kararite desire for religion ‘dictated by God, not religion dictated by Man”. Anyway, I’m just saying this because Christianity does not have a monopoly on anthropomorphic conceptions of God because thinking it does can be highly misleading. I’m sure there are critiques of this way to think about God from a Rabbinical point of view but there are even also Christian sects who reject it as well!
2) & 3) Full agreement here.
As for the rest, produce an example of someone asserting that people are not influenced by a wider religious/cultural environment and I’ll call that person a dumbass. The problem people have isnt with that basic observation, its some people’s assertion of “Oh youre only saying that because you were raised Christian” towards any general criticism of religion. That’s why I keep bringing up examples of people making the types of arguments people incorrectly consider “Christian” but which came from obviously non-Christian contexts.  You may very well be on the same page and this is all just talking past each other, in which case great!
And I agree people arent blank slates! What I disagree with is how some people dont treat these things as a body of knowledge that someone is already carrying but instead as epistemic shackles that limit their ability to talk about anything in general.

as a Culturally Christian Athiest...I mean I could be way off in terms of actual similarity, but I never took offense to the idea bc I'd already heard about people who are Culturally Jewish/Muslim but not Religious, so it tracked that Christianity would be the same. Like I get that people don't like being told they still hold privilege from something they want to leave, but I mean it just seems weird to me when other Cultural Christians deny wholecloth that they are Culturally Christian? I feel like it's an obvious thing and yet here we are, still having this conversation.
i also feel like a lot of people arguing about this don’t actually understand what Culturally Christian can actually mean. it’s not just “any person who grew up christian who is atheist now.” it’s someone who isn’t religious but still celebrates christian holidays and doesn’t have to question if their work is going to give them the day off. it’s someone who has internalized the idea that their beliefs, whatever they may be, are the Ultimate Truth and they must save the people who do not accept this Truth. (i call these folks evangelical atheists, and these ppl get antisemitic REAL fast.) it’s someone who believes that non christian religions are crude and archaic and need to not exist anymore, or compares all their practices to christian traditions in order to try and understand them. it’s someone who has extremely negative opinions of jews but can’t quite put their finger on why.
and the thing is, all of these are things that can be unlearned. all of these things aren’t permanent blights on your soul — which, ironically, is yet another line of thinking that’s affected by christianity. it’s just that a lot of people stopped believing in god but never stopped believing in the christian view of how the world works, including the other people in it.

Holy shit finally!! someone else who noticed that about tmc!!! It’s been bouncing around in my head since I watched Pastra’s video on it (I don’t remember them noticing anything off either), ty for putting what I’ve been feeling into words
First I thought it was like “this person has been replaced by someone dangerous” as a representation of the right-wing pipeline and invented paranoia and that the “weird faces scary” shit was more unconscious bias but all the weird religious and antisemetic stuff touched on in the video has been looping in my brain for easily over a month, like you’d think more people would pick up on that by now, not sing its praises.
The premise isn’t even unique like people go on about “what if there were dangerous beings that could act like people and replace the people around you ” that’s been around at least since Dracula and he’s coded as a gay man with a bunch of antisemetic references too. anyway
Y’know speaking of antisemitism… at one point the lore of tmc said that “religious thinking” or something made you susceptible to MAD (don’t get me started on MAD) because you aren’t meant to question stuff or something and they showed the religious signifiers of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. And they cut that out layer I think, probably because Alex realized he had no idea what the fuck he was talking about and fell into the typical American Christian trap of assuming all religions are basically Christianity with a different god. Also I think they included like, philosophical ideologies??? Which you aren’t uhhh supposed to just blindly believe. But it’s a common Christian talking point to say that athiests Gods are like, philosophy books or something. So that’s. Hm.
Anyway, not only is the premise not at all unique, it’s literally a staple antisemitic trope. Shape shifter/changeling hiding as a human shit is always at risk of that happening but tmc really blew it out of the park by adhering to every single antisemitic trope I can think of off the top of my head.

I'm reblogging a lot of rosh hashanah posts, and while I am not Jewish I want to do my part in making non-Christian holidays more of a known thing. The US is VERY Christian-centric, and even as an athiest I notice that secular celebrations in this country are often tied to the comparable Christian holiday - so I want to do what I can to share more knowledge. Atheism in the US, especially the region I live in, is looked down on but it's still nowhere near as marginalized as other religions & this is something that I've become more aware of as I've gotten older and met more people.
If you're of a non-Christian religion and celebrate holidays that aren't well known in the US, I'll gladly reblog and share your days (if it's allowed for a non-member to do so!) so that we can spread this knowledge around!
Antisemitism and Islamophobia are VERY rampant and I want my friends to know that I am a safe space to celebrate around.

I've been on this hellsite for almost three months so maybe it's about time I make an introduction post
ABOUT ME AND THIS BLOG
Hello! Feel free to call me Lycos, Quasar, or Aurora! I'm gay (nblm), graysexual, aromantic, agender, and romance-averse, and my pronouns are he/it/she (or él/ól/ella en español)! However, I am still navigating trying to figure out my queer identities, so that list may change or grow. I'm also athiest and agnostic.
This is my main blog, and as such, my posts and reblogs are kinda random, but there are a few categories they will tend to fall in:
Aro, aroallo, or gay-related content
Other 2SLGBTQIAP+, GSRM, or queer-related content (pick your preferred umbrella term, I mostly use queer on this blog)
Hollow Knight (my current video game obsession)
Pokémon
Random interesting facts I see
Posts featuring pics of cats, snakes, sharks, or spiders (as these are my favorite animals)
General shitposts
Unfortunately, I'm not very good at consistently tagging things, so trying to find a specific post might be difficult. Sorry about that.
DNI
Homophobic
Transphobic
Aphobic
Any other queerphobic
Racist
Sexist
Τerf
Anti-furry
Pro-cops
Antisemitic
Islamophobic
Anti-kink/-fetish

okay i should probably make an actual introduction now hehe... anyways hi! I'm Shadow! I'm Protestant, particularly Presbyterian. Although I do also consider myself a bit more Christo-Pagan, since I believe that alongside God, there is or was also a Goddess at some point.
I'm trying to reconnect with my faith and get closer to God, after the COVID pandemic slightly shook my faith up a bit (I do not consider myself a revert since I haven't given up Christianity). I'm also in the midst of deconstructing as well, making this a bit of a messy process as well. As such, I will criticize religion at times, including Christianity. If you can't handle that, maybe take the time to think about why and then come back in the future. While this blog is Christian-centric (With some paganism mixed in), this blog is welcome to all religions and religious beliefs. And while I am Protestant, other denominations can interact. Yes, even Catholics (In fact I actually encourage you guys to interact! I'd love to learn more about Catholicism). Athiests and agnostics are also welcome if they wish. The only rule is that you remain respectful. And lastly, *this blog is 100% queer friendly* (AND queer owned!). And if you don't like that, simply turn the other cheek. No DNI, however queerphobes, racists, misogynists, antisemites, Islamophobes, anti-nonchristians, anti-atheist, anti-theists, ableists, fascists, zionists and Trump supporters will be blocked immediately. Additionally, since this is a heavily religion-based blog, I advise that those with religious trauma interact with caution.
