a word of unsolicited advice....don't do two masters programs and two jobs all at the same time, bad idea
#at least not if you don't live with family or a partner that helps support you a lot with domestic affairs#this shit would be so much more manageable if i still lived at home. or even in a dorm on campus#and didn't have to worry about bills and groceries and cooking and cleaning everything all by myself every day...#i'm not really failing at anything at the moment. but i do really feel like i'm struggling to keep up with it all#and that i should be doing a better job. or at least that things should be easier. that i shouldn't feel so lost#or have to ask so many questions still#or feel so bad when there's food in the cupboard but i'm so exhausted and poorly planned my energy and time etc#that i end up ordering delivery once or twice a week just to keep myself fee after rehearsals. idk man#this would be so much easier if my dad still did the laundry and my mom always made me dinner...#i miss not being in charge of everything myself. it's a whole lot. it's more than i bargained for#but the only people i'm really comfortable enough with asking for that level of help and care from live two states away.....sigh#well. gotta write a paper tomorrow. and go to work at 6pm. and try to dig further in on assigned hw readings. wish me luck ig#i wanna talk about me

Think of someone you love dearly. A family member, a partner, a friend. Someone who brings you joy, who you feel safe around, who makes you smile. Someone who makes your life better just by being in it.
Now imagine being separated from this person. Not only being apart from them, but knowing they are in danger, and being helpless to do anything about it. Both missing your loved one, and living with the constant dread that you might never see or hear from them again.
This is what the Badr family has been living through.
Before the war began, Hashem Badr @support-hesham and his family lived peacefully together in Gaza. Smahan, Hashem's wife, is from Morocco, but with much effort, she moved to Gaza with Hashem, where they lived and raised their 3 children.
When the war began, it severely effected all of them. They lost their home, their car, their cat. Everything from their happy life was gone. All of their children, the eldest of which is only 11, were deeply impacted by the sights of death and the sounds of war and suffering all around them.
After some time of living through this war, Smahan and the children were able to evacuate to Morocco, due to her Moroccan nationality. However, because Hashem is Palestinian, he was unfortunately unable to leave with them, and remains trapped in Gaza.
Hashem needs your support to buy necessities like food and water so he may survive, and to save up money so that whenever the border may open, he can evacuate and reunite with his family. He spent all his money and effort to get his children to safety.
The Badr children also need your support, as they are deeply traumatized with the war, and miss their father desperately. Hashem and Smahan need your support to pay for the psychological and emotional support their children need, as well as living necessities education.
£1,377 / £50,000
Donations have been very slow for Hashem, and he has only reached a tiny fraction of his goal. Hashem has sacrificed so much for his family, the least you can do is sacrifice a little of your time and money to help him live!
Hashem deserves to live in safety. His children deserve a father. Smahan deserves her husband back. It's heartbreaking that they have all been separated like this. Please, lend Hashem your support however you can. Donate as much as you are able, and share his campaign as widely as possible!!!! Don't let them down!

headcanons : harry potter boys x keeper!reader
↳ harry, ron, draco, neville, fred, george, remus, and sirius with a partner who can wield ancient magic (hogwarts legacy style).
↳ requests are open! submit ideas, drabbles, headcanons, or one shots to the link in my bio! don’t be shy <3
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
harry potter:
-thinks it is the coolest shit ever! when you're in a fight together and you protect him by shooting a powerful blue bolt towards the enemy that disintegrates their very beginning, he feels so proud to be your partner!
-on the other side, he also knows it feels like to have a lot of pressure and power on your side. he worries about what it must feel like to wield ancient magic and be the only living person who can see it. every time you use it, he checks on you after, ensuring that you don't feel too exhausted and can continue fighting.
-supported you so much through the trials. he didn't need to know every detail of what you did and went through but he would hold you so tight when you came back, praising you over and over for being so strong and brave.
ron weasley:
-he's a little jealous, ngl. like his partner can use this sick magic and is responsible for keeping the magic safe and alive out of the wrong hands?? why can't he do that???
-i also feel like ron would be confused, if not a little angry, that you refuse to share the power and attempt what others have before (such as isidora using the magic to remove pain). he doesn't really understand the problem and feels like the keepers are suspicious.
-he'd brag about you alllllll the time though! like oh my god every second he would find some way to bring up the fact that you can do really awesome things and that you are his awesome partner forever!
draco malfoy:
-draco loves you a lot and finds your magic incredibly cool, don't get me wrong, but i think his family swayed his pursuit of you because wouldn't it be so grand if the malfoys had a keeper in their family? someone so powerful and knowledgeable? who would pass down the truth and their magic? yes please! (every time narcissa brings it up, it irks draco but also he pats himself on the shoulder for choosing you)
-wants to know every detail about the trials and the past and the memories you're viewing! you'll come back from a trial, sweaty and tired, maybe bleeding, and he'd help you first then ask hundreds of questions after.
-your use of ancient magic is not necessarily unknown and makes you quite popular among the students of hogwarts. this, however, makes draco really jealous. if he could, he would follow you everywhere, glaring down anyone who tries to make a move on you. before you go on adventures, classes, or just to the common room, he'll drape you in his slytherin scarf as if he was marking you.
neville longbottom:
-poor thing gets so nervous when you have to complete the trials or do something incredibly important for the sake of keeping the magic safe. he knows he can't go along with you but he'd stay by your side until the very moment you enter the map chamber, whispering praises and support the whole time.
-would heal up all your wounds and take care of you if you exerted too much during a fight. he knows how much everyone depends on you and the least he can do is take care of you properly! he would run you a bath, apply soothing balms to your skin or use his plants to heal you up, and cuddle you tightly!
-tries his hardest to not feel useless but sometimes it's hard when you're so strong and he's so...not. of course you'll always reassure him and give him the confidence he needs but very frequently, he gets really down on himself about it.
fred weasley:
-every day he comes to you with a new scheme that involves your magic. could you make a portal that leads from the dungeons of hogwarts to the top of the astronomy tower? it's important. snape is gonna get really mad when he goes into his office? can your magic fix that?
-begs, and i mean BEGS, you to let him come along on your adventures and battles. he wants nothing more than to support you and fight along your side! as long it's not a trial, you can't help but let him come along. you usually end up saving him after he pays a little more attention to the way your whip around the battle, taking down everyone effortlessly.
-speaking of paying too much attention to you, he thinks it is so attractive than you can do what you do! he gives you some time after fighting to recuperate but then immediately he is ON you. he's kissing you and telling you how hot it is when you turn someone to just particles.
george weasley:
-he wants you to teach him everything you can. there are some things that are just simply innate and can not be taught but all your tips and tricks when it comes to fighting will now be all of his tips and tricks. you two would just find some field away from the burrow and go at it, sending spell after spell at each other. georgie is just overflowing with adrenaline and it's a great way to get it out.
-deep down, a part of him wants to be protective of you. he wants to keep you from going out into danger and taking on dangerous tasks all for magic and some old people telling you what to do. but he knows better, trust me. he knows you can defend yourself just fine but he just wants to put you in a little bubble and never let anything hurt you.
-just like ron, he will brag about you whenever he can. everyone is sitting around the great hall table, talking about how it's so cool that you defeated a troll in one fell swoop and he just wraps his arm around your shoulders, a glimmer in his eye as he proceeds to say "yeah, aren't they just so amazing?"
remus lupin:
-fears for your health and safety so much! when you come back from a trial, he's hushing you and putting you in bed, feeding you chocolate and brewing tea until you feel better!! you are bearing the weight of centuries old magic all alone. the least he can do is take care of you!
-supports your decisions throughout your entire journey as a keeper. if you truly believe that releasing ancient magic to the world and using it for more than the original keepers intended, then he understands. if you want to continue to keep it hidden, he will not question your judgement.
-this is so fluffy but i feel like you figured out how to manipulate your ancient magic to floating, bright blue scenes and pictures. around remus's time of the month (said lovingly), you'll lay in bed with him and use your wand to paint pictures of animals, lakes, waves, stars, or, in more sappy moments, your future.
sirius black:
-he thinks it is SO hot that you can take someone down without barely blinking an eye. his favorite move you do is when you lift someone into the air and slam them down repeatedly. gets blushy and turned on excited every time.
-once followed you down into the map chamber only to be very harshly yelled at by one of the keeper's portraits. he just wanted to see what it looked like and to know where you go on dangerous missions!! who can blame him, truly? definitely grumbled the whole rest of the day.
-when you two get married, he refuses to let you take his last name and instead will either take yours or say screw it and come up with one! he doesn't want his family to have the gratification of having a keeper with the black family name. he wants you to shine for who you are and in another century, he wants your name to be yours, not his.

i started a gofundme with my partner today, to get us out of texas to a state that's more hospitable to trans women & disabled people. i sent a little tweet, to start sharing the link, and a couple people asked if i was sharing it on tumblr, and i said "i'm gonna make a longer post about it for tumblr!"
i've been trying to write that longer post all night. i just... i don't have it in me. i'm exhausted, and i'm terrified. i know the version of this post i should be writing is a little upbeat, and for the emails to my family & Facebook & insta & all that shit i'll be my best self.
here i feel like i can just tell you... y'all, i'm scared. the legislation is scary, but the people - people i know! i've lived in texas my whole life, i've got texan roots grown deep! - are scarier. i used to feel at home in austin. i used to say there wasn't a neighborhood i didn't feel like i belonged in, at least a little.
now, i get stared at at best, yelled at and followed at worst, every time i step outside my door.
i'm scared. i'm tired. and i'm so, so sad to have to leave my home.
please share this post. i'm not gonna lean on you to donate, i don't want you feeling guilty if you can't. lord knows it's hard these days. but please do help this message spread.

Hi Seluney! I love your fics, they are tiny highlights in my day so thank you for sharing!
Here is some fluff (if you are interested by that prompt of course!) to think about!
A lot of the party members have very complicated or tragic ties to their family, to say the least! Karlach's parents are beloved but dead, Githyanki don't have the notion of family and Lae'zel mentions not knowing what happened to the others who hatched with her, Astarion and his "siblings"?? Then you have living (or not depending on how your playthrough goes YIKES) parents with Wyll and Shadowheart and it's very painful in another way! (And then you have Gale, who is the only one having an awesome relationship with his mom, you go Gale!)
So what about the companions of your choice being "adopted" by their inlaws (be it a huge extended family or something small) who are very normal loving people and just love Tav's partner. Enjoy some domesticity, family gatherings, homecooked meals and bad dad-jokes, you fools!
After all the game put everyone through, the party members deserve nice things! (AND SO DO YOU SELUNEY!)
Ahhhh so wholesome !!! I love it !! Thank you so much for your support and you deserve nice things too - which I hope to have done with your ask xox

Karlach:
The sun was dipping low in the sky, casting a golden hue over the sprawling farmland as you and Karlach approached your family’s homestead. The landscape was dotted with fields of crops, and the sound of livestock filled the air. The farm had always been a haven of activity and life, with your parents at its heart, embodying the spirit of hard work and resilience.
As you walked up the well-trodden path toward the house, you could sense Karlach’s excitement mingled with a hint of apprehension. She had heard countless stories about your family and their boisterous, hands-on lifestyle. Now, she was about to experience it all firsthand.
You gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. “Just remember, they’re a bit rough around the edges, but they mean well. They’ll love you if you show them your genuine self.”
Karlach grinned, her eyes gleaming with determination. “Don’t worry, love. I’m ready for whatever they throw at me.”
When you reached the front porch, you could already hear the sounds of your parents bustling around. They were in the middle of preparing dinner, the hearty aroma of something delicious wafting through the air. You gave Karlach a quick squeeze before opening the door and stepping inside.
“Ma! Pa! I’m home!” you called out, your voice carrying through the house.
The commotion in the kitchen paused for a moment before your parents emerged from the back, their faces lighting up with warm, if somewhat skeptical, smiles.
Your mother, a robust woman with a no-nonsense demeanor, and your father, a burly man with a heart of gold, both took in the sight of Karlach with keen eyes. Your mother’s gaze softened immediately, while your father’s expression turned into one of open curiosity.
“Ah, you must be Karlach!” your mother said, her voice rich with warmth. “We’ve heard so much about you.”
Karlach stepped forward confidently, extending her hand. “It’s lovely to meet you both. I’ve heard a lot about this place—can’t wait to see it all.”
Your father’s eyes twinkled as he took Karlach’s hand with a hearty handshake. “Well, you’ve come to the right place. This farm’s got more life in it than any city could ever hold.”
Your mother, not to be outdone, pulled Karlach into a surprisingly fierce hug. “Come on in, dear. You’re just in time to help prep for supper. We’ve got a lot to catch up on.”
Karlach beamed and followed your parents into the kitchen, where she was immediately put to work. The kitchen was a whirlwind of activity—dough being kneaded, vegetables being chopped, and pots clanging. Karlach’s enthusiasm was evident as she rolled up her sleeves and dove right into the chaos, her laughter ringing out as she helped with the preparations.
At first, your parents watched in astonishment as Karlach fit right in with their rough-and-ready approach. She didn’t hesitate to get her hands dirty, joining in with the farm chores, mucking out stables, and even helping with the repairs around the barn. Her fearlessness and exuberance won them over in no time.
Your mother, watching Karlach handle the chores with a grin, leaned over to you and whispered, “You know, she’s got a good head on her shoulders. I like her. She’s not afraid to get her hands dirty.”
Your father, catching a glimpse of Karlach covered in a bit of mud after helping with the pigs, clapped a hand on your shoulder. “She’s got spirit, that one. You should take a page out of her book. None of that fancy city stuff for you. More like Karlach—down-to-earth and tough.”
You chuckled, appreciating their approval and the way they had taken Karlach into their fold so quickly. “I’ll keep that in mind, Pa.”
As the evening progressed, the meal was served, and the conversation flowed easily. Karlach charmed everyone with her stories of adventure and her easy-going nature. Your parents, who had initially been skeptical about anyone who wasn’t tied to the farm’s way of life, had fully embraced Karlach as one of their own.
When the night drew to a close and the stars began to sparkle above, your parents gathered around Karlach, offering her their best wishes and a promise that she was always welcome on the farm.
Your mother placed a hand on Karlach’s shoulder with a smile. “You’ve made quite the impression, dear. You’re part of the family now. Don’t be a stranger.”
Karlach’s eyes shone with genuine emotion as she looked at you, then back at your parents. “Thank you. I feel right at home here.”
As you walked hand-in-hand with Karlach through the now-quiet farm, you felt a profound sense of contentment. Your family had welcomed her with open arms, and their acceptance and love were palpable.
Karlach leaned in closer, her voice soft and full of affection. “Your family is amazing. I never expected to fit in so well.”
You smiled, squeezing her hand gently. “I knew they’d love you. You’re perfect just the way you are.”
And with that, you both enjoyed a serene evening under the stars, knowing that Karlach had truly found a place where she belonged, alongside you and the family who had embraced her with open hearts.
Minthara:
The bustling streets of Baldur’s Gate were alive with activity as you and Minthara navigated through the city, heading toward your home. The contrast between the vibrant, chaotic city and the serene atmosphere of your family’s house was always a bit jarring, but today was especially significant. Minthara had been both eager and apprehensive about meeting your two fathers, and you could sense her anxiety.
As you approached the well-kept house, you could see the warm glow of lanterns spilling out into the street. The scent of freshly baked bread wafted through the open windows, mingling with the distant sounds of city life. Your heart swelled with anticipation; this was an important moment, and you hoped it would go smoothly.
You glanced at Minthara, offering her a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry. They’ll love you. Just be yourself.”
Minthara, dressed in her usual dark, elegant attire, adjusted her posture nervously. “I know this is a significant moment, but I can’t help feeling uneasy.”
In her defence your fathers were the absolute epitome of what she was raised to think lesser of, two male seldarine drow. But that was her old life, her old beliefs. You had changed her.
You squeezed her hand gently. “My dads are different. They understand what it means to be exiled, and they’ve always been kind-hearted. They won’t judge you.”
With a deep breath, Minthara nodded, and you led her up the path to the front door. You knocked, and the door swung open to reveal your two fathers, both drow with an air of quiet dignity and warmth.
“Welcome home!” your fathers greeted, their smiles broad and genuine. They took in Minthara’s presence with a mix of curiosity and kindness.
Your father, the more talkative of the two, extended his hand with a welcoming gesture. “Ah, you must be Minthara. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you. We’ve heard so much about you.”
Minthara hesitated for a moment before shaking his hand, her nerves palpable. “Thank you for having me. I’m… I’m not sure what to expect.”
Your other father, a bit more reserved but equally warm, placed a reassuring hand on Minthara’s shoulder. “We’ve heard about your exile, you poor thing. Please, make yourself comfortable. You’re safe here.”
Minthara’s eyes widened in surprise as she looked between the two of them. She had been expecting hostility or at least a cold reception, but the sincerity in their words and their welcoming gestures took her aback.
As you all moved into the living area, your fathers quickly made Minthara feel at home, offering her a seat by the fire and making small talk. They inquired about her journey, her experiences, and made an effort to ensure she felt at ease.
You noticed Minthara's initial unease gradually melting away as your fathers continued to dote on her. They served her food, asked about her preferences, and seemed genuinely interested in making her feel comfortable.
At one point, your father, noticing Minthara’s hesitation, began to regale her with stories of your childhood. He wanted to ensure she felt included and appreciated, regardless of her background.
Minthara, caught off guard by their kindness, tried to maintain her composure but struggled. She was unaccustomed to such genuine hospitality from drow who were not aligned with Lolth. She found herself being fussed over, with your fathers offering her more attention than you had anticipated.
You could see Minthara’s confusion and discomfort as she tried to navigate this new dynamic. She kept glancing at you, her eyes reflecting a mix of disbelief and discomfort. “I didn’t expect this. Why are they being so kind to me?”
You smiled warmly at her, understanding her surprise. “They know what it’s like to be cast out and exiled. They have a deep sense of empathy for anyone who’s been wronged, and they see past our differences. They genuinely want you to feel welcome.”
As the evening wore on, your fathers continued to make Minthara feel like a part of the family. They included her in conversations, invited her to join in family traditions, and even showed her some of their favorite recipes, explaining them with great enthusiasm.
By the end of the night, Minthara was visibly more relaxed. She had come to terms with the fact that your fathers were not only accepting but incredibly supportive. She found herself enjoying the evening, feeling a sense of belonging that she had not anticipated.
As the night drew to a close and you all said your goodbyes, Minthara pulled you aside, her eyes filled with a mix of gratitude and confusion. “I didn’t know what to expect, but they’ve been wonderful. I feel… I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like I’ve been given a chance I didn’t think I’d ever have.”
You gently squeezed her hand, your heart swelling with affection. “I’m glad they could show you that kindness. You deserve to feel welcomed and loved.”
Minthara smiled, her gaze softening as she looked at you. “Thank you for bringing me here. I didn’t know I could find this kind of acceptance. It means more to me than I can say.”

Lae'zel:
You and Lae'zel approached the small, secluded home where your parents lived. The quiet serenity of the surroundings was in stark contrast to the chaotic and tumultuous world that Lae'zel was accustomed to. Your heart pounded with a mixture of excitement and nervousness; this was the moment when Lae'zel would meet the parents who had rescued you from the harsh confines of the creche.
You had often spoken of your parents' pacifist and spiritual beliefs, but you knew that experiencing them firsthand might be a shock for someone as battle-hardened as Lae'zel. The journey had been long, but the sight of your parents' humble dwelling at the end of the path was both comforting and reassuring. You took a deep breath and gave Lae'zel a reassuring glance.
As you approached the door, you could hear the gentle strains of a melodic chant, a common practice in your parents’ daily rituals. You knocked softly, and after a moment, the door creaked open to reveal your mother, her face illuminated with a warm, welcoming smile.
“Welcome, dear one,” she said, her voice soft and soothing as she bowed to Lae'zel “You must be Lae'zel. I am so pleased to meet you.”
Lae'zel, always one for directness and formality, gave a respectful nod, her eyes scanning the peaceful surroundings with curiosity.
“Greetings,” she replied, her tone slightly reserved. Not entirely sure what to make of the Githyanki, she was covered in crystal necklaces and patterned robes - she had never seen a monk like this, if they were even monks.
Your mother stepped aside to let you and Lae'zel into the house. Inside, the space was filled with calming colors, soft lighting, and an array of spiritual symbols, incense and artifacts. The atmosphere was imbued with a sense of tranquility that seemed almost otherworldly compared to the harsh realities of the Githyanki creche.
Your father, who had been meditating in a corner, stood up and approached with a gentle smile. His presence was calm and serene, embodying the spiritual essence that defined your upbringing.
“Welcome, Lae'zel,” he said, extending a bow in greeting. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Lae'zel bowed firmly but with a hint of confusion in her eyes. She observed the peaceful surroundings and the serene demeanor of your parents, trying to reconcile it with the chaotic and violent nature of their offspring.
As you and Lae'zel settled into the cozy sitting area, your mother offered tea and various calming herbs. The conversation began slowly, with your parents asking Lae'zel about her experiences and interests, their curiosity genuine and untainted by judgment.
“So, Lae'zel,” your mother began gently, “what is it that you cherish most about your travels and experiences?”
Lae'zel, momentarily taken aback by the question, responded with cautious enthusiasm. “I value strength and discipline. My experiences in battle have shaped me into who I am today.”
Your father nodded thoughtfully. “Strength is indeed an important aspect of life. However, it is also crucial to find balance and peace within oneself. We believe that the universe guides us, and our actions shape our karma.”
Lae'zel listened with a mixture of intrigue and skepticism. “I understand the importance of balance, but my path has always been one of combat and survival. It is difficult to see how such ideals would fit into that world.”
You could see the slight discomfort in Lae'zel’s posture as she struggled to understand the philosophical approach of your parents.
After a moment, she turned to you with a questioning glance. “How did such calm and spiritual individuals produce someone as…”
“Violent and chaotic?” you finished, smiling wryly. “I’ve often wondered the same thing.”
Your mother laughed softly, a melodic sound that seemed to fill the room with warmth. “Our beliefs guided us to raise you with compassion and understanding, but we also recognize that each individual’s path is unique. We honor the journey you have undertaken, even if it diverges from our own.”
Your father added, his voice gentle but firm, “Everyone’s path is a reflection of their soul’s journey. The balance you seek and the battles you fight are all part of the cosmic dance. We accept and love you for who you are, as we do with Lae'zel.”
Lae'zel’s eyes softened as she absorbed their words. The realization that your parents held no ill will or judgment toward her, despite their vastly different beliefs, began to ease her confusion.
“Thank you for your acceptance,” she said, her voice more genuine and appreciative. “It is rare to find such kindness and openness in this world.”
Your mother placed a hand on Lae'zel’s shoulder, her touch light but filled with warmth. “We are grateful to have you here. Our love for our child extends to those who are important to them.”
As the evening wore on, the conversation flowed more naturally. Lae'zel’s initial reservations began to dissolve as she shared stories of her own experiences, and your parents listened with genuine interest and respect. The harmonious blend of your parents' spiritual wisdom and Lae'zel’s battle-hardened tales created a unique and memorable evening.
By the end of the night, Lae'zel’s initial confusion had transformed into a deep appreciation for your parents' way of life. The evening had been a bridge between two worlds, united by love and mutual respect. As you and Lae'zel prepared to leave, you felt a profound sense of contentment, knowing that your parents had embraced your lover with the same unconditional love that had guided them throughout their lives.

Shadowheart:
The gentle hum of the forest surrounded you as you and Shadowheart approached your family’s home, nestled among the ancient trees. The sun had begun its descent, casting a warm, golden light through the canopy. You had often spoken of your mothers—druids with a profound connection to nature and a loving, albeit occasionally overwhelming, tendency to fuss over you. Today, Shadowheart would finally... experience them.
Your heart fluttered with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. You were eager for Shadowheart to meet your family, but you also knew that your mothers’ affectionate, maternal instincts could be a bit overwhelming for someone not accustomed to such a display of love.
As you reached the clearing where your family’s home stood, a quaint and cozy cottage adorned with flowering vines and wooden carvings, you could already hear the soft murmur of your mothers’ voices. You knocked on the door, and it swung open almost immediately. There stood your mothers, their faces lighting up with joy upon seeing you.
“There you are, darling!” your mother called out, her voice warm and welcoming. She pulled you into a tight embrace, her touch familiar and comforting. “We’ve been waiting for you!”
Your other mother, her face alight with a gentle smile, stepped forward and gave you a kiss on the cheek.
“And who might this be?” she asked, her eyes twinkling with curiosity as she looked at Shadowheart. You stepped aside to reveal Shadowheart, who stood with a mixture of nervousness and resolve.
“This is Shadowheart,” you said, gesturing to your lover. “Shadowheart, these are my mothers.”
Shadowheart offered a polite smile, her demeanor a mix of elegance and curiosity. “It’s a pleasure to meet you both.”
Your mothers’ eyes widened with delight. “Oh, what a lovely name! We’re so pleased to finally meet you!” your first mother said, her excitement evident in her voice. “Come in, come in! We’ve prepared a feast.”
As Shadowheart stepped into the home, she was immediately enveloped by the warmth and coziness of the space. The interior was decorated with nature-inspired motifs—wooden carvings, leafy tapestries, and the fragrant aroma of herbs and freshly baked bread.
The fussing began almost immediately. Your mothers led Shadowheart to the table, showering her with compliments and offering her a seat as if she were the guest of honor.
“You must be exhausted from your travels,” your second mother said, placing a plate of food in front of Shadowheart. “Please, help yourself to anything you like.”
Shadowheart chuckled softly, a genuine smile gracing her lips as she accepted the plate. “Thank you. I appreciate the warm welcome.”
Your mothers were not done yet. They hovered around Shadowheart, ensuring that her glass was always full, her plate was never empty, and that she was comfortable at all times. Their attentive care was met with Shadowheart’s amusement, her eyes twinkling with a mix of gratitude and mild surprise.
“It’s quite a spread you’ve prepared,” Shadowheart remarked, glancing around at the abundance of food. “You really didn’t need to go to such lengths.”
“Oh, but we wanted to!” your first mother replied, her eyes sparkling. “We’ve heard so much about you and couldn’t wait to meet the person who has brought so much joy to our dear child.”
As the evening progressed, the fussing continued. Your mothers insisted on telling Shadowheart stories about you as a child—stories that, while endearing, made you blush and roll your eyes in playful embarrassment. Shadowheart found the tales amusing, laughing and teasing you gently.
“You were quite the handful, weren’t you?” Shadowheart teased, her eyes glinting with amusement. “I can see where you get your spirit from.”
You playfully nudged her, a grin spreading across your face. “Oh, you have no idea.”
The evening was filled with laughter and warmth. Your mothers, having taken a liking to Shadowheart almost instantly, treated her as if she were their own. They were thoroughly enchanted by her grace, her charm, and the way she fit seamlessly into their home.
When the night drew to a close, and Shadowheart prepared to leave, your mothers insisted on packing a basket full of homemade goodies for the road.
“You must come back soon,” your first mother said, handing Shadowheart the basket with a loving smile. “We’d love to have you over again.”
“You’re always welcome here,” your second mother added, giving Shadowheart a warm hug. “We’re so happy to have met you.”
As you and Shadowheart left, you couldn’t help but notice the genuine affection and admiration your mothers had for her. Shadowheart, too, seemed touched by the experience, her smile reflecting the warmth and acceptance she had received.
As you walked hand in hand under the stars, you turned to Shadowheart. “How did you find it?”
Shadowheart’s eyes were soft, her expression reflecting a contentment that spoke volumes.
“They’re wonderful,” she said, her voice filled with warmth. “I can see why you cherish them so much.”
You squeezed her hand gently, feeling a deep sense of gratitude. “I’m glad you think so. They really do have a way of making everyone feel loved and welcome.”
Shadowheart nodded, her smile widening. “It’s easy to see why they adore you. You’re a reflection of their kindness and warmth.”
With that, the two of you continued your walk, feeling closer than ever, united not only by your love but also by the acceptance and affection you had both received from your family.

Gale:
The grand estate of your parents was a marvel of elegance and opulence, nestled amidst well-manicured gardens and towering oak trees. As you and Gale approached the massive, ornate front door, you couldn’t help but notice the intricate detailing of the architecture and the luxurious surroundings. This was the world you had grown up in—a world of magic, wealth, and intellectual pursuit.
Gale, ever the inquisitive sage, was visibly awed by the grandeur. He looked around with wide eyes, taking in the sprawling grounds and the elaborate facade of the estate. As you approached the entrance, the door swung open to reveal a well-dressed butler.
“Welcome,” the butler said with a polished, professional demeanor. Gale’s eyes widened further as he greeted the servant with an enthusiastic nod.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, finally! I can see where Y/N gets their looks from,” Gale said, his voice tinged with excitement and charm. “I’ve read so much about this place! The magical academies you must have attended—”
The butler raised an eyebrow, a slight smile playing at his lips. “I’m afraid you’re mistaken, sir. I am not one of Miss Y/N's parents. Allow me to show you in.”
Gale followed the butler inside, his excitement only slightly dampened by the wave of embarrasment he felt. The opulent interior of the estate was even more impressive up close. Rich tapestries, towering bookshelves, and gleaming chandeliers adorned every room.
The butler led you and Gale through a series of grand hallways until you reached the study—a room filled with arcane artifacts, ancient tomes, and an atmosphere of scholarly pursuit. There, seated behind an impressive mahogany desk, were your parents.
Your father, with his silver hair and scholarly robes, was immersed in a complex magical manuscript, while your mother, with her elegant demeanor and keen eyes, was sorting through a collection of rare magical artifacts.
“Mother, Father,” you began, your voice tinged with both pride and nerves, “this is Gale, my partner. Gale, these are my parents.”
Your parents looked up from their studies, their expressions lighting up with genuine warmth and interest. Your father, setting aside his manuscript, extended a hand to Gale. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Gale. I’ve heard quite a bit about you.”
Gale shook your father’s hand with enthusiasm, clearly impressed. “The pleasure is mine. Your home is magnificent, and the magical artifacts—well, I can’t even begin to describe how fascinated I am!”
Your mother stepped forward, her eyes sparkling with interest. “We’re delighted to finally meet you, Gale. We’ve heard so much about your own magical pursuits.”
As the evening progressed, Gale’s excitement became evident. He eagerly asked questions about the various magical artifacts displayed around the study, and your parents responded with equal enthusiasm. Their conversation was a blend of scholarly debate, magical theories, and tales of past discoveries.
Gale’s fascination with your parents’ work was palpable. He peppered them with questions, discussing magical theories and historical discoveries with a fervor that only someone deeply passionate about magic could muster. Your parents were equally absorbed, clearly enjoying the lively exchange of ideas.
“I’ve always wanted to study the intersection of elemental magic and arcane rituals,” Gale said animatedly, gesturing towards a particularly rare artifact. “How did you come across this?”
Your father launched into a detailed explanation, clearly delighted by Gale’s keen interest. Your mother joined in, adding her own insights and anecdotes. The conversation flowed seamlessly, and Gale’s eagerness to learn was met with genuine enthusiasm from your parents.
As the night wore on, the conversation showed no sign of slowing down. Your parents continued to engage Gale, showing him their latest magical experiments and inviting him to delve into their extensive library. The scholarly exchange was so engrossing that you found yourself on the periphery, watching with a mixture of amusement and exasperation.
Eventually, it became clear that Gale was completely absorbed in the discussion. Your parents, captivated by his curiosity and knowledge, had no intention of ending the evening anytime soon. You, on the other hand, knew it was getting late and that you needed to move on.
With a mixture of laughter and determination, you approached Gale, gently placing a hand on his shoulder. “Gale, dear, I think it’s time for us to head home.”
Gale looked up, slightly dazed but still buzzing with excitement. “Oh, already? I haven’t even scratched the surface of the library yet.”
Your parents, catching the hint, smiled sympathetically. “We’ve enjoyed having you, Gale. You’re always welcome here. Your enthusiasm and knowledge have been a breath of fresh air.”
Gale beamed, clearly pleased with the reception he had received. “Thank you, I’ve learned so much tonight. I look forward to our next meeting.”
You guided Gale towards the door, the evening’s scholarly discussion still lingering in his mind. As you stepped out into the cool night air, Gale’s excitement was palpable.
“That was incredible,” he said, his eyes alight with enthusiasm. “Your parents are amazing. I could talk with them for hours.”
You smiled, feeling a mix of pride and amusement. “I’m simply glad that you enjoyed yourself. ”
As you walked hand in hand, you could still see the gleam of excitement in Gale’s eyes. The evening had not only strengthened his connection with your parents but had also deepened your appreciation for the intellectual curiosity and warmth that they had so effortlessly shared.

Astarion:
The grand estate of your high elf mother was a testament to centuries of noble lineage and refined taste as much as you tried to hide it. As you approached the entrance with Astarion by your side, the opulence of the place was unmistakable as was his excitement: towering columns, intricate carvings, and gardens that seemed to bloom with an otherworldly elegance.
You had warned your lover that your mother was very particular about appearances and had a deep-seated appreciation for high elven nobility. You knew it may hit a chord with Astarion considering he could not remember his family. Yet, you hoped that perhaps the favourable opulence your mother provided would be a balm to him.
When the door was opened by a distinguished servant, you were greeted by the sight of your mother standing in the grand foyer. She was the epitome of high elven grace, with her silver hair elegantly styled and her attire reflecting the nobility she held so dear. Her eyes, though sharp and discerning, softened as they fell on you.
“There you are, my dear!” she exclaimed, her voice musical and filled with affection. She swept forward to embrace you. “I’ve been eagerly awaiting your visit.”
You smiled, returning her embrace. “Hello, Mother. I’d like you to meet Astarion, my partner.”
Your mother’s gaze shifted to Astarion, her eyes narrowing slightly as she took him in. Her sharp eyes caught every detail, and what she immediately saw was potential.
“Ah, Astarion,” she said with a smile. “A pleasure to meet you.”
Astarion gave a graceful bow, his own expression a blend of charm and curiosity. “The pleasure is mine, Mi'lady. Your home is as magnificent as I’d imagined.”
As you and Astarion followed your mother into the main sitting room, the conversation turned to more personal matters. Your mother’s gaze was fixed on you, and you could almost see the wheels turning in her head as she took in your appearance. Her tone, though gentle, carried an undertone of reproach.
“My dear,” she began, her eyes softening only slightly. “I must say, I wish you would carry yourself more like the noble you are. You have such stunning jewelry and robes that you never wear, and yet you choose to dress in these ragged outfits. Why?”
You sighed, recognizing the familiar note in her voice. “Mother, you know I’m not one for formalities and fineries.”
Astarion, who had been observing the exchange with growing interest, found himself in a curious position. He had often made similar comments, and now, seeing your mother’s concern mirrored his own, he couldn’t help but agree.
“You know,” Astarion said, his voice smooth and diplomatic, “your mother makes a valid point. I’ve often thought that such beautiful jewelry would be more fitting for someone of your stature, my love.”
Your mother’s eyes lit up at Astarion’s agreement. “Oh, wonderful! You see, Astarion understands. He has such exquisite taste. Perhaps you should take a leaf out of his book.” Before you could protest, your mother clapped her hands with excitement. “I’ve actually arranged for a tailor to come in today to create some outfits for you, my dear. But clearly, it would be wasted on you if you don’t care for such things. Astarion, come with me. Let’s get you properly fitted.”
Astarion, caught between delight and surprise, found himself being gently but firmly escorted by your mother towards the designated fitting room.
“Oh, this is going to be a treat,” Astarion said, a mischievous glint in his eye. “I’ve always enjoyed the finer things.”
As your mother guided him away, she called back over her shoulder, “I’m so glad my child has chosen someone with such impeccable taste. I’m sure you’ll look splendid.”
Left alone in the sitting room, you couldn’t help but chuckle at the turn of events. Your mother’s unabashed enthusiasm for fashion was well-known, but it was amusing to see Astarion so willingly swept up in her plans.
When Astarion finally returned, impeccably dressed in one of the tailored outfits, he was a picture of elegance and refinement. Your mother beamed with pride at her handiwork, while Astarion struck a pose with a grin.
“There,” Astarion said, his eyes sparkling with satisfaction. “I must admit, your mother’s taste is impeccable.”
You smiled, both amused and touched by the way your mother had embraced Astarion. It was clear that she had taken an immediate liking to him and had found joy in seeing him embrace the world of high elven nobility.
“Thank you, Mother,” you said, your tone filled with genuine gratitude. “I’m glad you like him.”
Your mother smiled warmly, her eyes twinkling with contentment. “Of course, dear. It’s always wonderful to see someone who appreciates the finer things in life and of course loves you so dearly.”
As the evening progressed, you felt a renewed sense of connection with both your mother and Astarion. Their mutual appreciation for elegance and refinement had created a bond that bridged the gap between your world and Astarion’s. And as you watched them converse animatedly, you couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of contentment knowing that your worlds had come together in such a delightful way.

Wyll:
You arrived at the quaint, country home where your older siblings lived, a place that held countless memories of your childhood. Your siblings, though somewhat overprotective, had always been your steadfast support, especially after they had taken you in and raised you as their own. They had shaped your upbringing with love and a strong sense of family, which had molded you into the person you were today. Now, it was time for them to meet Wyll, your partner.
As you pulled up to the house, you could see your siblings through the window, busying themselves with preparations for your visit. The scent of home-cooked food wafted through the air, mingling with the crisp scent of autumn leaves. Your heart swelled with nostalgia and anticipation.
Wyll, ever charming and confident, stepped out of the carriage beside you. His eyes took in the serene surroundings with interest, and he gave you a reassuring smile. “Ready?” he asked, a hint of excitement in his voice.
You nodded, squeezing his hand gently. “Absolutely. They’re going to love you.”
You approached the front door, and before you could knock, it swung open. Your elder sister, always the more practical and warm-hearted of the two, greeted you with a beaming smile.
“There you are!” she exclaimed, enveloping you in a hearty embrace. “It’s so good to see you!”
Your brother, equally protective but with a more reserved demeanor, stood just behind her, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in Wyll.
“And who’s this?” he asked, his tone cautious but curious.
“This is Wyll,” you said, stepping aside to introduce him. “Wyll, this is my older sister and my brother. They’ve been like parents to me.”
Wyll stepped forward with his usual grace, offering a polite bow. “A pleasure to meet you both. I’ve heard so much about you.”
Your sister’s eyes lit up with immediate warmth. “Oh, please, come in! We’ve prepared some food. I hope you’re hungry.”
As Wyll followed you inside, your brother’s keen eyes studied him with careful scrutiny.
“So, you’re the one who’s captured our sibling’s heart,” he said, his tone measured but not unkind.
Wyll met his gaze steadily, a hint of his trademark charm in his smile. “I certainly hope so. As I’m very much in love with them.”
The evening unfolded with laughter and lively conversation. Your siblings, despite their initial wariness, soon found themselves charmed by Wyll’s easy demeanor and genuine kindness. Wyll regaled them with tales of his adventures, always careful to include stories that highlighted his respect for you and his deep feelings for you.
During dinner, your sister took the opportunity to fuss over Wyll, ensuring he had more than enough to eat and frequently checking if he needed anything.
“Here, try this,” she said, placing a heaping serving of her special casserole on his plate. “It’s one of our family’s favorites.”
Wyll graciously accepted the food, clearly appreciative of the effort and care that had gone into preparing it.
“This is delicious,” he said, his eyes bright with genuine praise. “You have a real talent for cooking.”
Your brother, having observed Wyll’s interactions with you and his appreciative attitude towards your family, began to warm up. He joined in the conversation, sharing stories of his own and laughing heartily at Wyll’s humor.
“You know,” he said, his tone more relaxed, “you’re quite a character. I can see why our sibling is so taken with you.”
As the evening drew to a close, your siblings were more than satisfied with their impressions of Wyll. They had taken him into their fold with the same protective and loving care they had always extended to you. Your sister, in particular, couldn’t resist offering some parting words of advice.
“Take care of them,” she said, her tone both serious and affectionate. “They mean the world to us.”
Wyll nodded, his expression sincere. “I promise, I will.”
Your brother, now visibly more at ease, clapped Wyll on the back. “And if you ever need anything, you know where to find us.”
As you and Wyll left the house, you felt a deep sense of contentment. The evening had been a success, and you were glad to see that your siblings had welcomed Wyll into the family with open arms. The bond between you and your partner had only grown stronger, fortified by the acceptance and affection of those you held dear.
Wyll took your hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. “That went better than I could have hoped,” he said with a relieved smile. “Your family is wonderful.”
You smiled back, feeling a warm glow of happiness. “I’m glad they like you. They’re a big part of my life, and it means a lot to me that they’ve embraced you.”
Together, you walked into the evening, your hearts light and your spirits high, knowing that your relationship had the support and approval of the people who had shaped your life.

Halsin:
Bringing Halsin home to meet your sisters was something you had been both excited and a little anxious about. Your sisters had raised you with all the fierce love and protectiveness of true guardians, always looking out for you and making sure you were safe. They had been through thick and thin with you, and naturally, they were very cautious when it came to the people you brought into your life. Their approval meant the world to you, and you knew they wouldn’t let anyone into the family without a thorough vetting.
As you approached the cozy cottage where your sisters lived, nestled in a lush forest clearing, you couldn’t help but feel a flutter of nerves. Halsin, ever the calm and collected druid, walked beside you, his presence a steadying force. He noticed your unease and placed a reassuring hand on your back, giving you a warm smile.
"Everything will be alright," he said gently. "Your sisters care about you deeply. I understand their need to ensure I am worthy of your trust."
You nodded, grateful for his understanding, but knowing just how intense your sisters could be. As you reached the front door, you could already hear the familiar sounds of their voices from within, chatting and laughing as they prepared for your arrival. The moment you knocked, the door swung open, revealing your eldest sister. Her eyes immediately landed on Halsin, and she gave him a scrutinizing look before turning to you with a smile.
"There you are!" she exclaimed, pulling you into a tight hug. "We’ve been waiting for you."
Your other sisters quickly joined, each of them hugging you and then turning their attention to Halsin, their expressions a mix of curiosity and thinly veiled protectiveness. They exchanged glances before the eldest spoke up.
"And this must be Halsin," she said, her tone polite but with a hint of challenge. "We’ve heard so much about you."
Halsin inclined his head in a respectful nod. "It’s an honor to finally meet the people who have cared for my beloved so well."
Your sisters ushered you both inside, but it wasn’t long before they began their gentle yet probing interrogation. They gathered around Halsin, questions flying from all directions, their protectiveness on full display.
"So, Halsin," your second sister began, her arms crossed as she leaned against the kitchen counter. "Tell us about yourself. How did you meet our dear sibling?"
"And what exactly are your intentions?" another sister chimed in, her tone light but with an edge of seriousness.
"Do you truly understand how special they are?" the youngest asked, her eyes narrowing slightly as she looked Halsin up and down.
You felt a flush of embarrassment as they continued to press him, despite your attempts to intervene.
"Come on, give him a break!" you protested, trying to pull Halsin away from their inquisition. "He’s not on trial!"
But Halsin remained unfazed, meeting each question with calm and sincere answers. He spoke about how you had met, how your connection had grown, and how deeply he cared for you. His tone was warm, his words thoughtful, and he never once appeared flustered or defensive. Instead, he seemed to understand exactly why your sisters were behaving this way, and he respected their desire to protect you.
"My intentions," Halsin said, turning to the sister who had asked, "are to cherish and support them in every way I can. Your sibling is incredibly special to me, and I am committed to walking alongside them, no matter where our paths may lead."
Your sisters exchanged glances, clearly impressed by his responses. The atmosphere began to shift, their initial wariness melting into acceptance. They began to relax around him, and soon the conversation turned to lighter topics.
As the evening wore on, your sisters found themselves drawn to Halsin’s kind and wise nature. He shared stories of his druidic practices, his connection to nature, and his adventures in the wilds. They laughed at his tales of animals he had encountered and listened intently to his insights on the natural world. His deep respect for life and his gentle demeanor resonated with them, and before long, they were no longer interrogating him, but enjoying his company as if he had always been a part of the family.
By the end of the night, your sisters were completely won over. They were chatting and laughing with Halsin, offering him second helpings of dessert and even sharing embarrassing stories about you from your childhood. The transition from skepticism to acceptance had been so seamless that it was hard to believe they had ever been anything but welcoming.
As you and Halsin prepared to leave, your eldest sister pulled you aside, a soft smile on her face. "You’ve chosen well," she said, her voice full of approval. "He’s a good man. We’re happy for you."
You felt a wave of relief and happiness wash over you, knowing that your sisters had accepted Halsin so fully. When you turned back to him, he was chatting with your other sisters, all of them smiling and at ease.
As you finally left the cottage, your hand in Halsin’s, you couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of contentment. Halsin had faced the scrutiny of your overprotective sisters with grace and patience, and in the end, he had won them over completely. You knew that bringing him into your family had been the right decision, and you were filled with gratitude for the love and acceptance that now surrounded you both.

Reunions
(Pic: lovelybluebirdie) I cropped it a bit
Astarion x gn!reader, Astarion x reincarnated!Tav
Summary: A few months after reconnecting to your past life as Tav, a party is set to meet the rest of the group. You're nervous, worried about not living up to who you once were. Will you be enough?
This is a little part 2 of I'll Find My Way Back to You
Notes/ Warning: Pretty much just fluff. Reader is insecure. Astarion is a supportive partner. I kept all 6 origin characters alive because it's my story and I don't want to imagine any of them dead. Also, Halsin's here cause druids live to be like a thousand or whatever.
Word Count: 2.1k
Masterlist
You're not panicking. Why would you be? It's not like you're meeting a group of people you've only met in dreams—a group of strangers you've painted for the better part of your existence- a family forged through hardship from a past life you're still trying to remember fully.
No, you're not panicking. You're not scared that the people who are so excited to see you will not like what they see. You're not terrified the family Astarion has helped you remember will look at you disappointed once they realize you are no longer the Tav they once knew. You're not worried at all. Not. One. Bit.
You spent the afternoon cleaning the house from top to bottom. It was sparkling, and your fingers ached from the hours of scrubbing you filled in the restless day with. No surface was left untouched. Bookshelves were dusted, baseboards were spotless, and even the top of the cupboards, where no one would ever see, were wiped down. The floors were swept and mopped three times now, but you keep finding spots you missed. Astarion even physically stopped you from scaling the roof to clean the chimney when you ran out of things to occupy yourself with.
There's a roast in the oven, potatoes, and veggies cooking alongside it, and a pie cooling on the counter. You wanted to cook more, but you were worried that not everyone would like blueberries or that someone had turned to a plant-based diet. Astarion quickly reminded you that they used to eat food out of dusty barrels and mildewed chests.
Currently, you stand in front of your floor-length mirror. Astarion is out on a quick hunt before the party arrives, leaving you to obsess over your thoughts of inadequacy. The majority of your closet littered the floor. You're scrutinizing a simple tunic and legging combo. Was it too simple? Should you wear something more eye-catching?
You're trying to remember what Tav would have worn. All you can recall is blood-stained armor and simple camp clothes. But this occasion garners something more. Fuck. Stripping off the current outfit, you replace it with an almost identical one and look at yourself in the mirror again. You weren't sure what you expected, maybe to magically love this pair of pants and old tunic. But in reality, you were just as frustrated and worried.
The clothes weren't the problem, you knew that, but it was easier to be pissed at a blouse than to accept that you were scared. You were frightened to face Astarion and Tav's friends. You have Tav's memories and feel an odd kinship with these people. But you weren't Tav, and you would never be them, at least not entirely.
You felt like an imposter to try and convince anyone otherwise. Tears of frustration and disappointment in yourself began to trail down your cheeks. How could a silly artist hold a candle to the kind and heroic savior of Baldur's Gate? You glared at yourself, wishing things could have been different.
You jump when you feel cold arms wrap around your torso and a warm kiss at the nape of your neck. Astarion loved to use his lack of reflection to sneak up on you. You, on the other hand, hated it. Still, you found yourself leaning back into his firm chest.
"Hello, my love,"
You try to stop the pathetic sniffle, but it's useless. Astarion turns you in his arms and cups your jaw. "Darling," is all he says because he knows. Of course, he knows.
That simple pet name causes the floodgates to open, and you crumple into Astarion's chest, nuzzling his neck. He tightens his arms around you, pulling you closer to his body. Astarion lets you cry, knowing how nervous you've been for this meetup.
He rubs soft circles on the small of your back and peppers kisses to the crown of your head. "You can talk to me,"
"W-what if they don't li-like me?"
Astarion moves you both to the bed, skirting around the mess you made. He sits down and pulls you onto his lap to look you in the eyes better. "Why wouldn't they love you?" He prompts, not wanting to push you.
"Star, you know why. I'm not Tav," you hiccup, and you're positive the words you're speaking are incoherent. "I have their memories and some of their mannerisms and…and I'm also allergic to bees, but I'm not them. What if they hate me because I'm not Tav."
Astarion pecks your lips to halt your panicked words. He wipes the tears from your damp face. "No, you are not Tav, but they are part of you. They live in your art, laugh, and kind heart."
"But wha-"
"Let me finish, my love," Astarion smiles, brushing some hair behind your ear. "No one expects you to be Tav. We all love them deeply, but Tav's gone." He swallows hard, the words still hard to voice for him.
Astarion kisses your forehead, then your cheek, and continues to pepper kisses over your face, catching stray tears. "They just want to get to know the beautiful artist I fell in love with. Gale's big mouth might have let them know more about our history than I would have liked, but that doesn't change anything."
"And if they don't like the person you fell in love with?" You ask softly.
"Then fuck all of them. I love you, and if they don't love you as well, then they have no place in my life." His eyes pierce deep into yours, and there's no denying the truth of his words. You are overcome with a wave of love for your vampire and kiss him softly once more. "Now come, my love, by the smell, your roast is done."
"Shit!" You jump off his lap and rush out of the room, self-doubt pushed to the side.
*
The roast is fine if slightly burnt on the top. It looked juicy and smelled amazing. The vegetables are mush, but the potatoes are tender and seasoned well. It's not your best meal, but there's nothing you can do to fix it now. You left it on the counter to rest and found Astarion in the living room.
He was rehanging one of your paintings- the one you drew late last year after waking up in a cold sweat. It was a complete picture of the party standing on a dock overlooking the Grey Harbor just as the sun rose above the horizon. Astarion helps you fill in the gaps, telling you that this followed the fall of the Absolute.
"What are you doing?" You asked, crossing your arms over your chest and leaning against the wall. You had hidden away most of your art, too embarrassed by the sheer number of canvases depicting the guest due here any minute.
Astarion finishes hanging the painting above the fireplace and turns to you. "I liked this one and thought I'd put it back."
Before you could say anything, there was a knock at the door. Your stomach instantly dropped, and your heart beat hard in your chest. As if sensing your rising anxiety, Astarion moved to your side, his large palm finding the small of your back.
He swiftly kisses your cheek. "One word and I'll throw them all out."
Astarion leaves you and walks to answer the door. Your palms are sweating, and you rub them down your thighs. You take a few deep breaths and pace the room. Not knowing what else to do, you idly fluff up the decorative pillows of the couch and stall.
"Pull yourself together." You mumbled under your breath. You hear the sounds of multiple footsteps, and you know they're all here.
Why did Astarion request for them to arrive all at once? You're still not sure. But you're suddenly very pissed at him for his decision. Having all of them looking upon you like an art exhibit terrifies you.
"My dear," Astarion pokes his head into the room, a warm smile adorning his sharp features. "Would you like to meet our guest?"
You swallowed hard and nodded. Putting on a brave smile, you rounded the couch and reached for Astarion's hand. Threading his fingers with yours, you curled around his arm like a lifeline.
Moving out into the foyer, you shyly look at the group before you. Gale, given the circumstances of your and Astarion's meeting, you had already met. He had relentlessly bothered Astarion until an introduction was made between you and the wizard. But you've only seen the others in the paintings you've made and the dreams you've seen.
Karlach bounced on her feet, Wyll smiling brightly behind her left shoulder. Haslin stood by the door, a beautifully sculpted wooden bear in his arms. Shadowheart stood beside him, her face passive but relaxed and almost pleased. Lae'zel was the farthest from the group, brooding in the corner, looking at you suspiciously. Still, she even loosened her tense shoulders and stepped forward upon your entry.
"Um, hi." You waved meekly, giving them your name, cringing when your voice cracked.
It's quiet for a moment too long, and you're a step away from fleeing when Karlach skips over to you.
"Can I hug you?!" She almost yells, shaking her fists excitedly.
"Karlach!" Astarion scolds. The Tiefling had, by the looks of it, broken a rule he had set for your comfort.
"Sorry, sorry." Karlach's smile fades, and she moves to retreat. Your heart clenches, and it's like your body moves on instinct. You detach from Astarion before you can think, and then your arms are around her waist. Her scalding heat seeps into your bones and listen to the cranks of her engine.
"Hi Karlach," you whispered into her torso. The wind squeezed from your body, and your feet were off the ground.
"It's nice to finally meet you! The letters fangs write didn't do you justice."
Quickly, the group connects like magnets. Wyll crowds in and hugs you from behind, pressing you closer to Karlach. Gale piles on after, then Halsin. Shadowheart nudges her way between the men and apologizes on behalf of everyone but gives you an equally tight squeeze. The group even wrangles Astarion and Lae'zel into this group hug.
These people are supposed to be strangers, but having them close, seeing this family you've watched through someone else's memories for most of your life right before you. It fills you with familiar warmth and affection and has tears of joy in your eyes. You might not be Tav, not entirely, but you still have a place in this little family.
"Um…excuse me, I can't breathe." You squeak out after a moment of suffocation, and the group is quick to disperse.
Wiping away the lingering dampness from your cheek, you take a moment to compose yourself, clearing your throat with a subtle grace. Your hand instinctively finds its way back, and Astarion swiftly recovers it, his touch reassuring. Soft circles dance on the back of your hand, a silent question lingering in his gaze, seeking affirmation that you're all right. You respond with a nod and a comforting squeeze of his hand.
"Ah, well…" you chuckle with a hint of self-awareness. "I have a roast with everyone's names on it. And a blueberry pie; Astarion found a wild patch on one of his hunts."
"Thank the gods, I'm famished," Wyll sighs, his appetite evident as he sniffs the air dreamily. A nudged Karlach sets the communal movement toward the dining room in motion.
Astarion emerges with the wine, gracefully pouring glasses of red for everyone. Gale, the sole visitor to your home beforehand, takes charge of the table settings. With a flick of his fingers and a whispered incantation, plates and silverware align harmoniously. The stage set, the food emerges, and the night takes flight.
It feels like a cinematic scene picking up where it had once paused, a seamless continuation. Laughter weaves through the air, stories unfold, and even the occasional argument dissolves into a chorus of joyous laughter. Though new and fresh, the conversation flows as naturally as breathing. Strangers evolve into friends, and amidst the clinking of glasses, a familial bond begins to sprout. Tav was indeed fortunate to have these beautiful souls around.
As the night bids farewell and everyone departs, you find solace curled up against Astarion. His voice, a gentle undercurrent, softly reads from his newest book, and you gaze up, fixated on the beautiful man before you. A silent expression of gratitude graces your lips, an unspoken acknowledgment directed at Tav. Thanks for giving you a family and the love of your life.
Astarion's fingers scratch your scalp, tenderly coaxing your eyes closed. "What are you thinking about, little love?"
"Just how lucky I am."
"I would argue I'm the lucky one, but I suppose we can share," he smiles; he continues to read to you and massage your scalp until you're puddy against his body, sleep having all but consumed you. The night settles into a tranquil symphony, the warmth of shared love lingering in the serenity.
Okay I know it was a bit cheesy, but I needed so fluffy shit today. Anyway, tell me what you thought I love talking with y'all.

KazuKaoru: Everlasting - An Essay
(This art belongs to amamaiiya, please go and follow, like, reblog her magnificent works)
What defines a good relationship? What makes fictional couple a good one? Each of these questions can have a different answer depending on the person asked, because it is often that in fiction people prefer something they would never allow themselves in real life. You know how they say, the forbidden fruit is sweet. But personally, I have equal preferences for both. In my honest opinion a good relationship has to be, above everything else, a healthy one and consist of trust, mutual understanding and support, where both partners have things in common, respect one another and don't hold back each other. This is what I saw and liked in a dynamic of Kiryu Kazuma and Sayama Kaoru from Like a Dragon (aka Yakuza) series.
Some might say they had a rough start, with them being on opposite sides of the law in a world where people are labeled and treated with prejudice. But that is the whole theme of their love story throughout Like a Dragon 2. It is a relationship that defies what people assume as normal, where characters are developing to see through the superficial and realize that despite their surface level differences, there is much more in common on a deeper level.
They are both humans, shackled by outside perception of them and because of it they might feel they have to act a certain way instead of being themselves. But being themselves is exactly what they manage to achieve around each other, which is something that even Haruka notices about her Uncle Kaz. Isn't that the best kind of thing that can be in a relationship? To be yourself without hiding it and be loved for it? KazuKaoru is that kind of pairing.
Isn't it ironic that he turned to be that someone? Interesting camera work here is that while he says this, it zooms at him. Not very subtle, but nice foreshadowing nonetheless.
Often I come across an assumption that KazuKaoru is rushed. Not one bit. We are talking about two grown up people with experiences, who know or at least feel what they want from life and their partner. It is hard to determine when exactly Kiryu fell for Kaoru, but Kaoru definitely starting falling for Kiryu at the rooftop scene after date. But that scene leaves us with an impression that her feelings are unrequited. She wants to stay with him to watch the stars, but he politely refuses and asks her to rest. There is a moment of hurt and disappointment.
Potential of denial is followed up by a scene at New Serena. After Kaoru suffered through shocking discovery and family member loss, she is a mess and her actual real self with all that baggage might not be loveable at all. She confessed to Kiryu about her insecurities and the truth ended up more harmful than she was prepared for. She started crying after saying this line:
I always read it as her implying something along the lines "you don't need me anymore". With her heart on disaply she is met with silence. But whoever was responsible for this subplot of Yakuza 2 liked to live in a happy land, so we've got this beautiful response from Kiryu that finally showed his true colors and feelings towards Kaoru:
"I would never think less of you" meaning that he accepts her entirely, with whatever may come her way. He loves Kaoru for the person she is and might be. This is pure, kind and tender form of love that is so easy to enjoy. He makes sure she knows that he doesn't want her away, so he asks her a very important thing to do later:
Yakuza and a police officer. Two people on the opposite sides. But both are warriors for justice, upholding same ideals of helping and protecting those in need. They both have power, but use it for good. This is the kind of common ground that can lead to something special and beautiful if they are ever allowed to reunite in later games.
Thankfully Like a Dragon 8 left us with hope. We have a confirmation that Kiryu Kazuma and Sayama Kaoru still have feelings for each other even after 17 years of being apart. This is why I call this essay as Everlasting. Because this is the kind of love they hold for each other, still waiting for a moment where they can be together again.
There is actually a lot more I would have liked to put into words about them. This is my all time favorite video game couple and maybe even my all time favorite OTP. Both characters are outstanding individually and together they are unstoppable. Ultimate power couple whose love story is there to each us a very important lesson in life that we all can take to heart and follow through with it:

Embracing Your True Nature as a Beta Husband
Hello, my sweet beta brothers. This article is written just for you, to help you find joy and fulfillment in your role as the loving, supportive partner to your strong alpha husband. In today's world, it's more important than ever for betas to know and accept their place. As a fellow beta, I want to share some hard-earned wisdom on how to be the best husband you can be.
First and foremost, understand that your alpha is always right. He's the leader, the decision maker, the one in charge. And that's exactly how it should be. Alphas are naturally dominant, assertive, and in control. They have a vital role to play in our society and relationships. It's your job as their beta to support and submit to them.
Now, I know what you might be thinking. "But what about my opinions and needs?" Well, darling, the truth is, your opinions don't really matter. Not in the grand scheme of things. What matters is keeping your alpha happy and satisfied. When he's content, you'll be too. So it's best to just keep your thoughts to yourself, unless directly asked. And even then, choose your words very carefully.
Conflict is inevitable in any relationship. But as a beta, it's crucial that you don't argue or fight back when your alpha gets angry or upset with you. Instead, stay calm, listen to what he has to say, and apologize for any perceived wrongdoing, even if it's not your fault. Your alpha has a lot of stress and pressure, being the man in charge. The last thing he needs is a nagging or defiant beta making his life harder. So just take it on the chin, and move on. Forgiveness is key.
Your alpha works hard to provide for you and your family. The least you can do is take care of the household and domestic duties. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, childcare - these are your responsibilities. Don't make your alpha have to tell you to do these things. Anticipate his needs and wants. Have a hot meal ready for him when he gets home. Make sure the house is spotless and the kids are bathed and in bed at a reasonable hour. Go above and beyond to show your love and appreciation for all that he does.
Now, I'm not saying you can't have any fun or interests of your own. Of course you should! But make sure they don't interfere with your duties as a husband and partner. If your alpha wants to watch sports or play video games on the weekends, then that's what you'll do too. Be his biggest cheerleader and supporter. If he's passionate about something, you be passionate about it too. Your hobbies and friends should always take a backseat to him.
Submission is a beautiful thing, my beta brothers. When you fully embrace your role and let your alpha take the lead, it's incredibly freeing and fulfilling. You'll feel so much more loved, safe, and satisfied. There's nothing quite like the joy of knowing your place and living to serve your man.
So the next time your alpha gives you an order or tells you what to do, remember - he knows best. Don't question it or argue. Just smile sweetly, say "Yes sir," and do as you're told. Because at the end of the day, your purpose is to make him happy. And that's the most rewarding thing of all.
I hope these tips help you be the best beta husband you can be. Embrace your natural submissiveness with pride! Your alpha will thank you for it. And more importantly, you'll thank yourself. Because there's no greater joy than living to love and serve your man.

i think that i've figured out why i don't like show sally.
ok like don't get me wrong, virginia kull?? she ATE with that interpretation. her acting?? amazing. like i could truly get the core of her character.
it's just that i don't like the character the writers give us.
cw: discussion of abusive relationships, of toxic family dynamics, probably a good bit of generational trauma. I don't really get into details except with stuff shown on the show and written in the books but i wanted to be safe.
as someone from an immigrant household, as someone whose mom works a part time minimum wage job, as someone whose seen and been there as my parents fought, i just really really dislike sally's portrayal in the show. and it's partly because of poseidon and partly because of gabe (mostly because of her character in general but yeah, lets get the men out of the way first)
I feel strongly about poseidon in his relationship to sally very specifically. i don't mind his relationship to percy either books or show. but it's pretty damn clear to me that this show was written by someone who's never experienced sally's situation, of being the single working parent with an absentee partner (or in gabe's case a partner who literally ahHHHHHh). because from the beginning, from sally's reaction and snark to gabe, I felt like something was wrong or off, and it was Specifically the show because i read the books and i watched (some) of the musical and i never felt that way towards either of those. i'm not saying that my family situation is sally's (don't have a god for a father for one), but. by all accounts sally knows that this is an abusive relationship, the only reason that she's with gabe is because of the protection he offers percy. i have to assume that this is true because sally jackson turning gabe to stone is something i'm assuming is staying in the show, and i remember this being mentioned by grover? or someone in the first few episodes. and the cord that struck in me was not the traditional (that is, visible, defined, i don't like this word but i don't have a better one) abusive relationship but relationships in my community, of women staying with husbands because of their children, women outright saying this, women who know the world is cruel to single women and to single mothers specifically. sally, to me has never been under any illusions that gabe is any sort of relationship material. she has never been under any illusions that poseidon would be able to help in any way.
and that crux of sally's relationships made her first scene in the show all that more jarring. but it's not anything specifically that i can put a finger on. and maybe i'm wrong for this or maybe i'm expecting too much. but. sally doesn't have the resentment or the quietness or the bitterness or even the loudness that i expected. you have been the only true caretaker for your child, the only one in the house that really puts food on the table and on top of that is expected to do emotional labor? to cook and clean or at least pick up the food?
but she treats gabe like he's an annoyance. someone to brush off. and you see the manipulation tactics from gabe, you do, but.
its not that i want sally's spirit to be crushed. my mother's spirit wasn't crushed. the women in my community, they laugh, they cry, they watch silly tv shows, they have lives that they live, and in many cases they live well.
but the women that i know are also angry. they are either on fire or they used to burn. when they banter with their partners it often turns ugly because they are tired of the same damn argument day after day, because often the trivial things that are asked are compounded and compounded and compounded because you live in the same house, there is no escape, there is no private space, not really.
it's new york and sally works a job to support an apartment and her family. they are not well-off. sally has no support network we can see, and how could she? poseidon mentions that she has no one to talk to about these things, her parents are clearly out of the picture. all this to say. there is a certain understanding of class that exists within the books that was excised, i believe unknowingly, from the show, and it is the worse for it. there is a tiredness, a worn-down-ness from being low income that sally had in the books, but in the show i only see a struggling first time single parent. i don't see the complexity of a woman who literally gave up on finding a fulfilling relationship to be with a man for her child. i don't see the complexity of a woman working fulltime and still getting demanded from at home. and i didn't realize that I wanted to see that until I saw the show. i didn't realize that that was what i loved about the books.
i hate that they tried to bring poseidon back into sally's life as this perfect man who through cosmic forces can't help. i hate that sally calls him, i hate that he says he'll listen. but most of all i hate that sally just accepts him, falls into him. it's really hard to be a mother when your partner doesn't seem to help you parent in any way, even if he cannot help you. he's a greek god, there's no way in hell that he can begin to understand the lengths that sally has gone through to sacrifice and survive, the very human things that she's done. sally in the books thinks of poseidon as a sweet memory, almost a fairytale, and it's clear that this story is the one that brings her comfort. poseidon is a one night stand, a sweet stranger, she understands he's not coming back. but this poseidon comes when sally calls, and that i cannot believe. i cannot believe that she still thinks of him as the fairytale man, that she accepts him so easily if there isn't that distance. i cannot believe that there is no resentment, that she still puts faith in him as her god (the first episode when she talks about him just felt so wrong to me) if he's not a memory, but a recurring figure. this is not a story of star-crossed lovers, sally feels too real as a human being for that.
sally finds trust, finds contentment, in the books after percy leaves home, after she no longer has to put up with gabe for his safety. she does not find poseidon again. she marries a human man, a very ordinary human man who cares for her. poseidon visits after she is in this relationship and its an amicable one. he is percy's father but also distant memory all in one. sally has the strength to survive a terrible relationship and still find a way to heal and live fully after that.
but the anger. the fire was there. she turned gabe to stone. she reclaimed her life with her two hands.
you don't kill a man for no reason. you don't kill a man without emotion.
but it's that reason and that emotion that i don't get from the writer's room. and it just makes me deeply sad.
#probably got a bit too personal with this one boys#but i needed to get it out#because i realized i recognize sally's situation#percy jackson#pjo tv show#percy jackon and the olympians#pjo show crit#adding tags bc i feel like i should explain#sally and poseidon are characters that have consistent (relatively despite my gripes with poseidon's) characterization#i don't like them for personal reasons partly#and partly bc they got rid of most of the gabe shittiness#and class critique#ofc#lol#but these are just my opinions#this isnt a specific critique of the show's writing#it's more of a critique of what themes they chose to keep in and the nuance that they missed by not keeping those themes#riordan literally says they toned down the abuse (if not eliminating it entirely) and i get that to an extent#but i think there are ways to address abuse in children/teen's tv shows#anywhoooooo#.

HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP PLEASE
Hi everybody, how are we doing? I hope you're enjoying the beginning of fall. Now that I'm done just being hospitable, can I just be honest? Can I vent? Can I be heard? Am I allowed to express my hurt? Can I please request for aid?
I am struggling to all hell. On and off the streets and been homeless since June 1st. I don't need resource information- I need immediate relief in the form of financial support. My partner and I are doing our best to be strong but being strong does not help when we're in the position where we're lucky just to eat, or do laundry. Over this summer I have been robbed of my possessions (cards, clothes, cash, toiletries, my phone... all of which I struggled to get to begin with). I have been sexually assaulted and put through violent situations. Detained because people LIED and I guess that means guilty until proven innocent. Woke up undressed for reasons unbenounced to me in a house fire surrounded by flames and SOMEHOW, unfortunately survived. Somehow contracted a disease that has no fucking cure. I have reached out to EVERYONE I KNOW BEGGING FOR HELP. I have taken so much shit in exchange for the smallest amount of help, for food, for access to medical attention or a shower or for privacy. I have been homeless with a 103 degree fucking fever that lasted for days and got no help because I was too sick to move. I crawled to a shower and sat on the floor hoping my brain wouldn't melt (which it begins to at such temperatures btw). All this did not happen because I'm "lazy" or "a bad woman".
I am a woman presenting person who probably should have just been born in the right body or into the right wealthy ass family. I am in my 20s. I have been told I would make a great prostitute but I wasn't even made for of- nor am I interested. My abusive ass neglectful ass family are not helping me through my situation and my mom tells me I deserve it so that she doesn't have to cry while listening to me explain how bad things have gotten. I have a stab wound on my neck. I have burns on my body. I did not put those there myself. How could anybody deserve any of that? How could anybody do nothing to help? How can you just look at me and pessimistically say, "good luck". Or give the apathetic and unhelpful "me too" response.
My partner lost his dog after the fire. Can you imagine having to pretend like that doesn't matter because you have to worry about food? Can you imagine trying to provide emotional support because red cross never called back after you requested for health services? When your school says they can't help you because it's out of the budget???? "LIMITED FUNDS" they say. I was on the Dean's honor roll for TWO semesters in a row, almost close to getting my BA (just a few classes away). I was a student leader. UNTIL I had to finally say fuck that shit and drop. I have enough credits to graduate but I do not see how the fuck I'm going to survive until 2025.
I need help! Please help? Words of encouragement are appreciated but please help me raise enough for a down payment for a car to live in. That is what I'm asking for, at least for winter. I would like an apartment but California is so outrageous with prices, all I can hope for realistically is a car. Anything would help. Nothing is expected.
Please rb this post, if you can, it helps.
Always remember to maintain your humanity and that love persists.

It's time we lay this to rest. Might be a tough pill to swallow, but accepting Jikook are close enough to do this enlistment together every step of the way, should be the final straw. Went through an hard process, when they knew they could do other things, enlist separately, enlist with others, choose different units alone, but didn't. It should be everyone's cue to back off & stop spreading different narratives & lies to cope. Do you really want to do this for 17 more months, cause Jikook aren't gonna separate confirmed, for a fact, in writing.
Do you truly know your favs? Do understand how close you have to be to consistently drop all honorifics daily, the way Jikook do? Do you realize Jimin's been there for every graduation of JK's? At each other's side when the other is sick. Made a major life decision together & enlisted together. Even went to the doctor & had their covid vaccine together, cause why not. Their parents cook traditional soup for the other's bday & judging by Hobi & Tae's face, that alone should tell its not a normal occurance for her to do that for others or even at all. They spend bdays, holidays & couple days. Together alone when they made #1 as group together for the first time. Planned & gone on many private trips together over the years & before enlisting when they should've spent those last days with partners or family. Spent 8 years choosing the other, riding together, hang in the others room for hours doing nothing, go out & do things together and when they did do separate things & went out with other friends, the other was still on their minds & they let us know it publicly. Only saw each other over their breaks, while other members were living it up alone. Jimin allowed Jk on his personal album, when he said he wanted no members as features cause its about his personal life/his story & JK was allowed to be part of that. Always together behind the scenes. Knowing ones passcode to their studio & using it & the other knowing ones passcode to their home & letting himself in & making himself at home. No matter what kind of relationship you think they have, its special, its close, its mutual, its unbreakable. One day you'll get it & I hope for Jikook's sake its soon, because they deserve nothing but love, support & respected, like any other duo of BTS.
If you believe even a tiny bit Jikook are fanservice, you're saying Hybe, JK, Jimin, the Government, their parents & bts are all in this cover up together, playing along with fanservice & for what? To bring more hate on their children, their artists, their soldiers, their members? Does that make logical sense? Jikook have nothing to gain from fanservice. All they've gained from being close it hate, bullying, harassment & yes you are part of this problem, if you ever helped spread this narrative. They give you all their love, the least you can do is support & respect their decisions as adult men. Think for yourself, believe what you see, not what you're told by blogs who gaslit, manipulate, lie & you blindly follow, boosting their hate blogs & egos, while you hurt your favs you claim to love. Think for yourself & you'll finally gain some peace. I promise.
And the fact Jikook just don't care too😹😹😹
They living their best life whether they scream yell or wail nobody can tell them nothing 😹

The concept of Nyx’s Partner being a hunter is so interesting to me. Like Nyx is in danger? Boom! Whatever animal is attacking is immediately dealt with. Nyx wants some clothes to keep him warm? He now has an entire collection of furs and coats at his disposal. I just wanna give him and his family all that I can offer~💖
- 🪩 Anon
And they will forever adore you- their own special human!
For some fun, little ideas I keep rotating in my brain:
Rabbit-hybrids are small, like... 3/4ths the size of the average human at best.
They tend to live in burrows together or at least burrow side by side(hobbit-esk design if you need a visual)
This means, the bunny-folks home is tiny compared to a human. And once Nyx's family gets to know you, how gentle you are with their Nyx and with them as extention? Well, that practically makes you family already! Not like Nyx will ever leave your side, everyone in his family can see how enamored he is.
So what do they do? They make you your own chair at the supper table, larger and stronger to support you. They make silverware and dishes that are more your size, grandpa bun even crochets you a blanket twice the size of his normal ones so you can be cozy when staying there too
Grandpa bun, ever the burrow bun(as opposed to house husband) will also try to learn how to cook different sorts of meats for you. It's clumsy at first, but Nyx(who's been studying this like he's in fucking Harvard) helps and Grandpa bun has a good steak and skewers and chicken cooked like a pro
The younger rabbit-hybrids want to play chase and who better to play than the big scary human that they know is super nice? They will swarm you. They might just grab onto a leg or an arm and hang on, just keep walking it's fine it's entertainment.
The elders will want to ask you about your instincts, ones that don't seem useful to you but to them is life changing. What do you mean you have standoffs with other creatures and the first to move breaks the standoff? What do you mean you just throw your weight around to get what needs done done. You can see in the dark? To an impressive degree to them. So if you were hunting and the prey did this what would you do? For no reason other than their own knowledge of course.
The buns your age can be the most weary, they're old enough to know danger, but too young to recognize peace without a plethora of proof. Give them time and you'll be part of the gossip group, it's worth the wait I promise
Nyx will have to fight his own kin away so he can have you all to himself... For a few minutes at least. Just hold his hand, let him sit in your lap and he'll be happy.
Also, humans are carnivorous leaning omnivores. Predators in nature we could say. Any big predator needs naps. The buns are energetic to the nines but the first time you've visiting Nyx's family and you fall asleep on that soft couch? Lounging across it, blissfully sleeping?
It doesn't take long for Nyx to find you, crawl up to lay on your toreso, curling up and falling asleep... Then the young buns gather around, some trying to lay on or next to you, some sprawled on the back of the couch. The young adult buns are next, laying a blanket on the pile, maybe one or two joining but most lounge around the couch. Eventually the elders join as well. Seated in their respective spots and relaxing too.
Human designated nap time is the unspoken burrow law now, so don't be too surprised when you wake to that whole situation.
Welcome to the family!
Oh, and Nyx is total burrow bun material. Learned to cook the foods you enjoy as a human, concerts your home into a nice mix of bunny and human styles for the most comfort, and is pretty much bouncing by the door waiting for you to come home so he can literally jump into your arms, and that's if he didn't leave the house with you.

New Category: Trans and Nonbinary Characters!
As of this post, we are currently in the midst of Trans Awareness Week, a period intended to celebrate trans and gender non-conforming individuals, educate people about their experiences (both positive and negative), and work for progress on issues affecting the trans community. This week is followed by the Transgender Day of Remembrance, commemorating those killed by transphobic violence. These events are particularly poignant right now, given the state of discourse and politics in many western countries.
In honour of my trans friends and family, I want this rec list to celebrate fics that feature characters who are trans and/or nonbinary -- submit your favourites here! Any fics with a trans or nonbinary character and with at least one member of One Direction are eligible for submission. The trans/nonbinary character does not have to be a member of One Direction (e.g. it could be a friend, partner, relative, fan, etc.) and they do not have to be a focal or POV character (though ideally they are more than a momentary presence). These stories also don't necessarily have to be about the trans/nonbinary experience (although they certainly can be); they also can be stories about living and loving and finding joy, while also happening to be trans.
For anyone unfamiliar with or wanting a refresher on these terms, transgender individuals are people whose gender identity does not match the gender that was decided for them at birth, based on their chromosomes or physical features. Nonbinary individuals can fall under the trans umbrella, and do not identify as fitting into the traditional gender binary of man and woman. They may identify as a mixture of man and woman, a different gender outside man and woman, or no gender at all (among other possibilities!). Trans and nonbinary people may choose to undergo medical transitions such as hormone replacement therapy, social transitions such changing their clothing or hair, legal transitions such as changing their legal name or ID gender marker -- or they may choose not to. There are also individuals who may present in ways that do not conform to gendered expectations, but without identifying as transgender (e.g. men who enjoy wearing dresses or makeup, but still identify as men, or women wearing short hair or suits).
The trans and nonbinary rec list will post on Sunday, December 1st, and submissions will remain open until it goes live.
And as a reminder to myself and any other cis allies -- standing up for your trans loved ones is more important than ever right now. There are a hundred ways to show that support, from donating to organizations supporting trans folks to calling your government representatives to advocate for trans-supportive policies to helping a friend fundraise for their gender affirming care to voting in every election (including primaries) to speaking out when you see or hear transphobia around you. I implore you to put in the work, and to remember that we are stronger united than divided. Queer people have existed for millennia, and we will continue to exist for millennia to come. They cannot silence us, cannot erase us, cannot destroy us. We will persist.

Obviously don't answer if it's a spoiler but...
In the show we saw how badly Kuki dealt with things she loved being taken from her / kept out of her reach. Like when her rainbow monkeys were stolen or when Bradley was hurt. So all this to say, how did she take it when Wally (presumably her best friend and the person she loves most in the world) was...taken from them?
I love that these came one after the other because one is the answer to the other.
Long story short, she didn't take it well.
[TW: eating disorder, depression, bad family relationships]
Things were actually going on since the teen AU. I wanted to do a comic or something but due to the nature of it, I don't think I'll ever actually do it, so here's the explanation.
When she turned 13, Kuki started having some hormone problems that made her gain weight (not too much, but she had to be careful about what she ate). Her family noticed immediately, and they started to rudely point out how she was getting fat and using not so nice words to express their discontent. It arrived at a point (in the teen AU) where she wouldn't eat anything during the day, especially in front of other people, feeling ashamed and fearing they would point it out, especially Wally. This only resulted in an uncontrollable hunger in the nighttime, where she would eat whatever was in the fridge and start to hide snacks she bought under the bed when her parents found out what was going on.
Wally was the first to find out what was going on and tried to help her as much as he could, but he really ended up using the wrong words and making her feel worse (not on purpose, but if you don't know how to tackle certain things, you end up worsening the process).
Things seemed to stabilize when she found out she was pregnant, and her hunger somehow was reduced. She passed those months mostly at Wally's place (because it was hell at her own) and the two planned on getting decommissioned, buying a house, and finding stability. Nigel suggested buying the house in front of his own since it was vacant, and with some help from everyone, they managed to secure it and pay it slowly. Their new life looked promising.
Then Wally disappeared.
She tried all she could to keep a happy demeanor, especially for the baby, but as days passed and Wally was nowhere to be found, she felt that hunger return, and found some comfort... too much comfort in food.
Luckily Nigel got to her before it got too out of hand, and for some months lived at her place to make sure she and the baby were ok.
Abby and Hoagie visited whenever they could to help as well, and when finally even the Beetles had sorted their problems out (because yeah, THEY LOST A SON!) they were more than happy to help her with the house, the baby, and more. Especially Lou, for some reason. He was the one Kuki let out about her problem with food, and he suggested getting some help, at least for the sake of the baby.
She did, and in a few months, she also managed to get a job and "move on" as much as she could.
After the Nightmare War (which she didn't know about because of decommission, she just knew there was a huge accident at the Villa down the lane and Nigel was involved), she helped Nigel get back in shape and took care of Penny. Keeping herself busy was her way to not think about problems, and she made sure to always smile to make herself believe it was ok.
She also managed to find a new love interest (not sure if it's going to be OC or canon, still working on this part), so when the Beetles moved back to Australia, she had help and support for herself and Sami.
She had some ups and downs, but overall she held up pretty well on her own, she always managed to find a good side on everything!
Eventually, she and the new partner would break up, and he slowly disappeared from her life, leaving another hole. Again, she found relief in food but in an unhealthy way, this time it got her to the hospital.
She got back up on her feet, just in time for Wally's return. The two didn't get back together immediately, Wally also stayed at Nigel's for a few months so as not to push himself on her and Sami, but they eventually let feelings win.
At this point of the Adutl AU, she has her memories back, is working a job as a daycare teacher, and is still fighting eating problems, where she might not eat for some time.
Luckily, this time Wally is prepared and knows how to help, support, and make her feel loved and special ❤️❤️❤️

named after you / john stones
author's note: my mind hasn't stopped thinking about that damn interview where john speaks about bernardo's dog named after him so i had to write this. started as a blurb, ended as a full fic + socmed au. i hate myself.
wc: 1.5k words.
pairing: john stones x footballer!reader (doesn't really impact much of the story, except she's injured).
face claim: esme morgan 💌
contains: excessive use of pet names, roasting jack grealish just because (i love you jack), they're in love but they don't know it, mentions of injury and a foot cast but nothing too detailed (because i don't know shit about injuries)
summary: your best friend is dumbfounded to learn that you've never had a dog, not even as a kid. he goes above and beyond to change that when the circumstances ask for a way to cheer you up.
"you've never had a dog before?".
john can't believe his ears. but to be fair, everyone at the little studio set where you're filming the next video for city's youtube channel is as incredulous as he is. you just laugh at his reaction, before explaining. "well, i wanted one when i was a kid, but my parents said i was too small to have one. and then i just never asked again".
his brows just keep on furrowing, and it's like he had forgotten about the stack of cards he had in hand, with the 20 questions he was supposed to ask you for the video prepared by the team. "yeah, but you're what? 24 now? you could have a dog," he said, like it was obvious. to be fair, he was right. after all, you lived alone: no partner, no kids, no family in the country. having a little pet to take care of and love would make you happy, but you weren't sure if you would have the time to take care of a little dog now, with how packed your schedule is. maybe that's why you hadn't really thought about getting a furry friend. "i suppose. didn't think about it before," you shrug.
"fine. i'm getting you a dog".
it's been months since that interaction, and you haven't thought about john's promise since. the video went live on the team's youtube channel a few weeks after, and as expected, everyone loved it. the friendship you had with the city player was always cherished by the fans, and you couldn't really blame them. he was your best friend since you arrived in the club, and having his support from the beginning really made the adaptation period easier.
you realized how much you basked in his affection and care when you suffered a season-ending injury. it wasn't that hard, to be honest, but since the end of the season was less than a month away, you knew that the recovery period would be longer than what it took to get you back on the pitch in time for the last game. john has been there from the first moment, sending you a message as soon as he saw you went down on the grass. you only saw it after the medical exams were done, when the doctors had already told you that you probably wouldn't get to play again until next season.
facing the reality about you not being there for your teammates, not being able to help them in any way, shape or form, at least where it mattered to you -in the pitch-, was rough. you went from the training center for recovery to home, all day, every day, never getting quite far from the prefabricated route: your only focus was to get healthy again. you weren't even seeing john that often, with his schedule being as overwhelming as always and you don’t even daring to set a foot in the etihad if you weren't there to play.
but john, your good best friend john, knew exactly what to do to cheer you up.
“are you home?”.
the call alone was weird. john wasn’t one to talk much on the phone, and much less, while driving. if he wasn’t using free hands, you’ll kill him. “why are you calling me while driving, stones?”.
“asked you a question first. answer, little one”.
the nickname alone made you roll your eyes, and he swore he could picture your annoyed face in his mind. the joke had been running between you two ever since you two meet, really, not only because of the slight age gap, but also, due to how he towered over you. wasn’t rocket science, it was what his position on the field demanded, while you, as a striker, only had to be quick. “yeah, dad, i’m home”.
“whoa, what an attitude. i’m about to get home, so you better fix it”.
you couldn't even process him calling your place home, or protest against him coming without a longer notice -not a 2 second warning, like this one, because he had already hung up before you could even mutter a confused “what?”.
if looks could kill, you’d be charged with a murder.
you’re glaring at john’s car from the second it sets a wheel into your front yard. he’s quick in parking the car and stepping out of it, but instead of going to greet you, standing on the doorway with your arms crossed, he goes to open his rear door.
“what are you doing?” you ask, almost screaming, to ensure that he hears even if he’s quite far from you. john appears to be arranging something on the back of the car, but he smiles when answering your question. “go inside. wait on the sofa. eyes closed”.
you’re about to make a funny comment, except his smile goes away the second you take too long to fulfill his wishes. you decide to quit being difficult and, with a bit of difficulty due to the cast shoe you have in your feet, make your way to the couch. your eyes remain open, though, watching the match your team was playing on the tv. once you heard the door closing, you shut your eyes.
“do you have your hands ready?”.
you frown, but still, your arms are extended with your palms up per john’s request. soon, you’re opening up your eyes when you feel a warm ball of fur placed on your hands.
“john, did you get me a dog?”.
you almost have tears in your eyes when you place the little jack russell on your lap, and it curls into a ball, falling asleep almost instantly. “isn’t he the prettiest boy ever?” john coos, squatting so he can get a good look at the little dog you’re holding. “john, i can’t have a dog. i’m never at home,” you rationalize once the initial emotion has settled in. you start to think about your schedule, how you’re seemingly always away. the worry must have painted on your face, because the man in front of you notices it, and is quick to find your hand, previously resting on the little canine, to squeeze reassuringly.
“yes, you can. you’re home now, aren’t you?” he smiles, and you’re rolling your eyes, again, for what feels like the hundredth time today. “he’s gonna help with your recovery. but you don’t have to worry about him being alone here once you’re back: our schedules don't always match. when you can't have him, i'll take care of him". the way he’s looking at you now, with his fluffy hair and sweet smile is making you melt almost as much as the sight of the little puppy resting on your legs.
long seconds pass before any of you say anything, too focused on your little friend, before you realize john hasn’t told you how he’s called. “what’s his name?” you ask, and he looks up at you before shaking his head. “doesn’t have one. it’s up to you”. the smile you have on your face after hearing him speak, has your best friend thinking that you’re up to no good. and he’s proven right when you open your mouth again.
"i'm naming him after you".
his eyebrows furrow and he’s shaking his head again, clear discontent in his face now. "what? you can't. i won't allow you to," he opposes in a high pitched tone, and you laugh before answering. "why not? he's my dog,” you point out, and the puppy on your lap suddenly wakes up, probably awakened by the small argument held between both of you. you direct your hand to caress his little head, and he rewards you by licking your palm, almost like a little kiss. “i think he likes it. don't you, johnny boy?".
he has to straighten up so you don’t see the smallest pink rose to his cheeks when hearing you say johnny boy. he always told you he despised the nickname, which was why you had stopped using it, but instead, he lied because he liked hearing you say it.
"but why john?" he presses, again, hoping that, maybe, it’ll make you change your mind. he knows it's wishful thinking: after being friends with you for so long, john is aware that when an idea pops into your pretty brain, it’s almost impossible to shake it off. "first, you're the one that got him,” you list off, and it has him rolling his eyes. you think it’s funny how the roles are reversed, and the smallest giggle escapes your list before continuing with your explanation. “second, he's a jack russell".
"and? you could name him after jack," he says, and he’s hopeful when the doubt is planted on your face. it takes you a few seconds before you’re shaking your head, scrunching up your nose in disagreement. "nah, he can't jump that high”. you’ve switched your focus now, from person-john to dog-john, and your voice gets a little higher when speaking to him. “when you grow up you'll jump as high as your daddy here, won't you, pretty boy?".
john feels like he could faint by the amount of pet names that seem to flow effortlessly from your lips. "okay that's enough," he says, and you laugh at how agitated he is. "it's settled then. john stones, meet john stones".

Well, wish me luck.
My current situation is... crappy, to say the least. I thought moving out would improve me mentally, but all it did was isolate me, strip away my independence, and throw me into a depression like I haven't experienced since 8th grade.
I moved in with a friend I've known since I was nine, she was the mother of one of my closest friends. I trusted her completely, she promised to help me and I believed her.
As a result, I had to leave my job, and wasn't able to find another one. I'm relying on doordash and food stamps when I've always been able to support myself. As a result, my self esteem has gone down the tubes. The help I was promised only came for the first month, then I was left hanging.
I was told that my rambling was annoying, that talking about the things that interest me was off putting, that my trauma was insignificant, and that I should just get over it. I was pushed outside of my comfort zone more times than I can count, and overall I've been at an all time low.
As such, I've made the decision to move out. It hurts, I really care about this friend, but for the sake of my safety I can't stay. I'm moving in with my partner and their family until we can get our own place, which shouldn't take long. I'm tired of people trying to tell me how to live my life, I just want to be happy. I thought I'd find it here, but I didn't. I need to be around people who understand my pain, and are willing to help me work through it.
I guess the moral of this story is this: No matter how hard of a decision it is, some people just aren't good for you. Even if they don't mean to hurt you, that doesn't make it ok. You deserve better.
I just wanted to explain the situation, I know I haven't been posting much art or writing, and I've been feeling so guilty over it. I know, however, that my depression kicks my creativity to the curb first when it hits. I just need to sort myself out, get my head out of this fog, I guess. I appreciate all the love and support through all of this, and I can't say how much it means to see the kind things you all say about my content. I'll do my best to claw my way out of this, and hopefully get back into the swing of things.
#kinda vent#mouse rambles#tw depression#don't make my mistakes#I rushed into this decision and now I gotta dig myself out
