this past while, i've been working on getting a new commission batch open as i've nearly reached the end of the queue for the big orders as well, but i'm afraid i won't be able to work on much until the Oct. date– i'd very much rather avoid opening new slots only to make folks who already paid for their orders wait for a whole month on any and all updates. that said, even if i can't get new slots open now, i certainly shall have them up once i'm back on November 19th, and ready to go!! :"3c there shall be announcements prior to my going away too (option updates!! and a new option for the bigger orders too!! :'D), so i'm mentioning now but i'll talk about it at length soon!! for now tho, i hope you like these here doodles c: and i shall continue working on doodle orders until Oct. 14th!! messing around with an outfit variation of defoko. i am not that attached to her, but i like her color scheme and base design so i wanted to try adding my own touch to it.

something ive noticed with early fan-made voicebank mascots (utauloids and fanloids mainly) is they all sorta have the same uniform and outfit structure as miku. i mean for fanloids directly derived from her it makes sense, and while it does give these characters a specific look, they all look pretty samey to me. and i just like trying to come up with small differences between them to shake things up.

defoko’s voice is fully synthesized/artificial and has a very distinct sound to it, which is what interested me. i thought artificial voice = artificial looking design, so i tried to give her look non-human with the sleeves being apart of her. idk if the sleeves/boots being directly apart of her limbs has much practicality or logic??? but i thought it would look cool and wanted to test it out. (the gradient between the skin tone and the black would be a little smoother if i didnt get lazy). perhaps i could try leaning more in the robot aspects, if i were to revisit her again.

(loudspeaker in hand, standing on a high surface) sleep token made a music video entirely about two women having sex without leaning into the male gaze. sleep token's choir (which includes a *woman of color*) has been with them since their very first album. sleep token recently put their choir in entirely new outfits (including masks which show the bottom half of their faces, corsets, and one of them in a sheer shirt with her cloak open). sleep token recently put their choir on a huge platform so the audience is forced to look at them. sleep token's bassist and guitarist, iii and iv respectively, regularly interact with the choir on stage. sleep token, a decently well known metalcore band, has a woman of color in it. vessel and iv from sleep token both regularly post and tag the choir on instagram

Goblin Week 2024 Summary Post!

Not a bad haul. It's pretty satisfying to look at these side-by-side with their older inspirations - even if my progress as an artist has been pretty slow. Didn't expect #3 to be so dang good though!

Next year I'll treat this as a light and breezy kind of fun thing than how intense this year became.
