same Guy who talked about redemption. I remember this youtuber by the name of DWK. Who did mlp (yes ponies) parody analysis videos..no he didn't analyze parodies but made parodies that look like analysis videos.

So he hates Discord but, is a fan of characters like Sunset and Starlight. With the all three being reformed villains. I'm not going make you read me talk about ponies so I'll try to be quick. DWK sees a difference between reformation and redemption the first one being the change of sides not exactly changing for the better but now on the side of good. The latter of redeemed meaning being not only have they switch sides but are doing what they can to be better people.

Back to pony stuff he dislikes cause while he reforms he doesn't change, not to say he doesn't make friends again this is the pony show but his personality stays the same. The other two on the other hand both reform and redeem themselves.

Sorry to make you listen to point talk mod. Just found it interesting to bring up.

Canonically we know Iroha is a terrible person and she starts off like that, but a few harsh reality checks have lead her to despise the person she once was and try to become better, not just for herself but so she can help others see the light. She wants Nikei to become a better person, wants Ui to become a better person and is the biggest advocate for the theory that Mukuro Ibusaba can be redeemed. Iroha is a bigger person for redemption then even Hajime himself is.

//Starlight went a lot darker due to using Time Travel to try and break up the Main Six but after more and more worse Bad Futures, Twilight drags Starlight into a world where everything is completely destroyed for her to finally sink in how stupid her revenge scheme was. And the following seasons is the slow and steady redemption as Starlight grapples with her new morality. I also find it interesting that with Starlight's friendship circle, its all previous antagonist characters such as Trixie and Throak, people who were in a similar boat to Starlight and are there to help each other become better well...ponies I guess?

//Starlight's redemption reminds me a lot of Class 77-B who basically ended the world (And apologies to anyone who got disturbed when they described their crimes when comforting Mikan, but I needed to hammer it home that the Remnants of Despair did some EXTREMELY FUCKED UP things) But are trying to become better people and have people who understand their situation. It's not a easy road, as not everyone will forgive them and the planet understandably hates them still, but its doing what's right.

//It really depends on your views on redemption. Do you like villains to keep their villain traits but just be good? Then the Discord route is for you. However if you want characters to realise what they did in the past is wrong, try to reach out to others, and attempt to help others in similar situations atone, or find common ground with them then the Sunset and Starlight routes are best for you. Personally I don't see an issue with either path, the latter is more traditional whilist the former is a lot harder to write.

Sometimes you just have one of those moments where the progress we've made as a culture get thrown into stark relief. You look at something and go "Holy shit, that would never have happened when I was a kid."

Today, I had one of those moments when I realized that the teenage boys I'm working with are just. genuinely, openly enthusiastic about going to Build-a-Bear for their outing.

These are sixteen and seventeen year old boys! They just had a whole conversation about what to name their "cute", mostly new squishmallows! They're genuinely excited that they're going to Build-a-Bear this weekend and asking other kids to pick up specific accessories for them!!

Holy shit, that never would've happened when I was 16. None of the boys would have dared to be visibly interested - and neither would most of the girls! There would have been a million gay jokes and "Haha, you're a girl" jokes and "What are you, a baby?" jokes. Teenagers weren't even supposed to care about anything back then!

Less than 15 years later, and I'm watching three 17 year old boys treat all that as not even worthy of comment.

So let's call that a reason for hope. Even when the kids aren't alright, in some ways apparently they are alright. Go Gen Z, honestly. It's so lovely to watch you guys just openly doing and saying stuff that, when I was a teen, would've been a social death sentence.

listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded mfer happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.
