Sasha walked into the dingy bar with a scowl. Her parents were fighting again. They were already divorced, but for some reason, they still fought over everything. This particular fight was about her mom wanting more days with her, even though she already (sadly) had the most days with her and it had already been ruled by court.

So now Sasha Waybright, a middle schooler, had to drag herself to get her own dinner with her measly allowance, and this restaurant/bar thing that closed to everyone under the drinking age after 8 to become a full bar was the cheapest place she could find.

Her scowl lessoned slightly when she saw the few arcade machines that had been wired to play for free. There was only 4 cabinets, and all really old games, but at least she could lessen her angst with Pac-Man.

She blinked a few times and looked up at the menu, picking out the cheapest thing that could actually sustain her hunger. Mac and cheese. Her mortal enemy. She let out a long suffering sigh and walked up to the register.

"What would you like to order, hoot?" The most obnoxious voice she had ever heard spoke. ('Hoot???' kinda weird) A person with brown hair that stuck to their scalp weirdly and disproportionately long limbs stood in front of her, beady eyes staring at her. More like on top of her, because Christ, this person was tall! Their- his name tag had Henry crossed out and replaced with Hooty (something to do with the hoot he made earlier???) written on it with a scribbled he/him below it.

Sasha realized she hadn't answered him and mumbled a quick "Mac and cheese…" tapping her foot impatiently.

He smiled kindly with his strangely stretched mouth. "That'll be 13.55! What's your favorite flavor of dumdums?"

Seeing the strange look Sasha was giving him, he chuckled (seriously what was with his voice???) and spoke again. "Every customer gets a lollipop, hoot!"

"... I don't have a favorite flavor."

He blinked in surprise, but quickly covered it with a laugh. "Couldn't make a decision huh? I get that, hoot!" (Was that a vocal stim or something??? Marcy had some of those, even if they weren't this common, so that might explain it) He dug into the glass container of lollipops and handed her a strawberry dumdum.

Sasha hesitantly grabbed the lollipop from him and handed him the money.

"I'll let you know when your food is done, hoot! Should be easy seeing as you're the only customer, huh?" He chuckled at his joke while Sasha just nodded jerkily and wandered over to the arcade machine for Pac-Man.

"Eda, order of Mac and cheese!"

"Um, Eda's upstairs Hooty, did you want me to go get her?" An uncertain young voice called back.

"... No, just make the order yourself Luz, hoot!" You've been here long enough to know how!"

"…Ok…"

Sasha listened to this conversation disinterestedly, focused on dodging ghosts. After a few minutes of playing the obnoxious voice of Hooty called out again "Your order is done kid! Hoot!"

Sasha groaned as the little yellow circle known as Pac-Man was devoured, walking over to the counter and grabbing her food. She walked over to one of the tables and sat down, picking discontentedly at the Mac and cheese before forcing herself to eat it.

She heard footsteps stomping down what sounded like stairs, and a foxy voice called out "Hooty, did you read my diary again-!? Oh, there's a costumer." Sasha glanced up.

A pale lady with her hair died white and ginger roots poking out was standing on the steps that she hadn't noticed before with her hands on her hips. She had a gold tooth (that looked more like a fang than any normal tooth to be honest) and an abnormal eye color that almost matched the gold of the tooth. Her name tag said Eda she/her with scribbled drawings surrounding it. She fixed Hooty with a cold stare. "We'll be talking about this later."

Hooty audibly gulped and ran his hand through his weird hair with a nervous chuckle, even higher pitched than his earlier ones and babbling a few of his apparently signature hoots as Eda retreated into the backroom that Sasha could only assume was the kitchen.

(This place was weird.)

(…She'd have to come back again.)

Sasha finished the rest of her Mac and cheese and sat up, dumping the contents of her tray in the trash and setting it on the pile of trays on top of the trashcan.

Hooty, who was writing what she guessed was his will after that interaction with Eda, who seemed to either be his boss or some kind of higher-up based on his earlier reaction, fixed her with his strange stretchy smile and a wave as she walked out.

On her walk home, she sighed and ran her hand through her hair, subconsciously copying Hooty's earlier action as she thought about the strange little restaurant. Either they were friends outside of work or Hooty really needed to work on boundaries. He allegedly read Eda's diary??? AGAIN???

What a weird workplace relationship. Just what a weird workplace, actually. But a surprisingly comforting place to eat, Sasha thought with a hum as she popped the free strawberry dumdum into her mouth, turning the thought around in her mind. She would definitely return.

WELP I NOW FEEL AS IF I HAVE ENOUGH CONTENT TO POST ABOUT MY OWL HOUSE AU SO YALL BETTER GET READY FORRRRRRRR

The golden heir au!!

This au mostly follows canon but is much darker in tone and does go off track in specific canon moments because of the addition of a new character, a grimwalker clone of Belos who was made specifically to be a backup body but that plan was thrown completely to the side when the grimwalker ended up running away at a pretty young age, getting found by Eda (she’s like a magnet for traumatized children I swear) and has been adopted in everything except name by Eda also the grimwalker works as an assistant to Eda.

Whilst the grimwalker is at the owl house, Belos is on the hunt for that grimwalker because his current body is rotting alive because of the curse so time is extremely limited which means he has Hunter specifically on this case to hunt down the grimwalker under the pretense of that grimwalker having been kidnapped by wild witches and that Belos just wants to see his son again before he “dies” (this is a complete lie which Hunter doesn’t find out the truth until this aus version of hollow mind but anyways I don’t want to spoil the whole thing so I’ll just leave it at that) also the fact that when Luz enters the demon realm it shakes everything up even more so without her realizing by finally leaving a trace that Hunter can follow to that grimwalker…

So with all that context out of the way…

Meet the unfortunate grimewalker and golden heir himself, Pip

He’s for a lack of better words a little shit. (Hooty is always on the defense around Pip because of all the pranks Pip does to both him and everyone in Pip’s general vicinity lmao)

(Fun fact Pip’s real name is actually Philip because Belos had decided that Pip was going to be his final grimwalker before and after the day of unity also because he also wanted to be known as Philip during the day of Unity and sorta have his work go full circle…)

Pip’s job given to him by Eda is to steal human realm “treasures” (trash) alongside Owlbert, which Pip did pretty well until he got caught by an extremely confused Luz who’s was dead set on getting back her stolen trash and her copy of the good witch Azura so she ends up unknowingly enters the demon realm just like canon but this time to chase and confront Pip, Luz confronts Pip but they’re both making such a ruckus that the guards show up and they both almost get captured until Eda comes along and saves them, after that it goes just like canon except at the end where in order to both to make it up to luz for stealing her book and as a punishment from Eda for leading luz into the demon realm Pip is forced to become Luz’s guide to the demon realm (luz is still Edas apprentice in this au tho.) after this everything changes because the guard who tried to capture Pip and Luz had reported to Hunter a possible sighting of Pip and how he’s been found with a random human which Hunter then realizes he can use Luz as bait.

Also I’ll eventually talk about Pips relationships with the other characters in another post.

By the way Pip can do magic despite being “human” and not having a bile sac or a palisman, an example of this is the illusion he put on his ears when he’s out in public to make them long and pointy like a witch’s but that’s the only magic he does in general because he finds it extremely hard to focus on controlling the strength of the magic and also keeping the spell active so he prefers just not to really use magic. Magic usage makes him extremely tired also which is another reason he mostly avoids it.

Also Pip can use magic only because during the process of Belos growing him Belos had to cut off one of his arms to use as an ingredient (specifically the “bone of ortet” which fun fact an “ortet” is the original plant from which the plant's clones are descended from,) and so due to that arm being used as an ingredient the glyph arm carvings and unlucky the curse too had passed on to Pip as well.

The curse works similarly to Belos’s but is much less stronger and gets extremely agitated and causes a lot of pain if he’s used to much magic at once but I’ll focus on the curse properly in another post.

Owl House said fuck capitalism

So this episode was interesting. Lilith pretty much killed her sister. Why the fuck would she do that?

Even more interesting: why is Belos like that? How did Hooty put his head through one of those guards? Who the fuck is the Titan, and why does everyone like him? And how are these all tied together?

This episode was a metaphor for capitalism

...and another delicious step towards radicalizing the youth into dismantling this fucked-up neo-feudal system.

We’ll start with Belos. 

Emperor Belos is a weird name, don’t you think? We all thought it was spelled “Bellows,” but it wasn’t. In fact, it’s five letters, starts with Be, ends with os, and describes a megalomaniac emperor that restricts people’s freedom in order to accumulate wealth for himself.

Sound familiar?

Emperor Bezos Belos created capitalism. He saw the beauty of magic and decided to make himself the most powerful.

Belos created a system that destroys the masses and boosts his power.

 I’m dipping into fan theory a little, because the fan theory fits. We know that people get branded with coven magic that makes it so they can only specialize in one area. We know that Belos is the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles. We know that the excess magic, magic created by restrictions, has to go somewhere.

It’s the same system that many viewers see all the time. A job takes up all your day and tires you for the night, so you can only do one skill for the rest of your life. Jeff Bezos is the most powerful man in the United States. Excess money, money taken by restrictions, has to go somewhere.

The magic goes to Belos, like how the money goes to Bezos. Belos created capitalism, and he won it.

The guards aren’t real. 

Look, we’ve never seen their faces. They’re all the same. Why would you work so hard to get to the top, just to become a nameless, faceless killing machine?

Oh, also Hooty stuck his face through one. There is nothing under the armor.

Why? Well, it’s the same reason you see all those celebrities going around flaunting their wealth and bragging about how hard they worked. Like all those songs about how they grind every day and work harder than everyone else while you’re out clubbing, and that makes them dope. And then you take a closer look at them and see that they had a small loan of a million dollars fueling them, or an entire talent agency behind them, or their dad was a famous country star in the 80′s. 

They’re fake. They’re hollow. They’re a ploy created by the capitalist emperor to try to delude you into working harder. 

Let me put this into perspective. I guarantee that every single one of you has heard stuff like this: “Hard work makes you successful.” “I put in the work, and that’s why I’m successful.” “If you work hard enough, then you can be as successful as Mark Zuckerberg.” 

And unless you’re a robot or really lucky, I’m sure all of you have failed at this. Maybe they told you that hard work would make you good at math, so you spent 22 hours a week working on calculus, only to pass it by 3 percentage points and have it destroy your perfect 4.0 GPA. Maybe they told you that if you talked to people enough, then you would make friends, so you spent a lot of time talking to people, only to end up lonely and friendless. Maybe they told you that if you did well in school, you would get a good job, so you spent all your time working hard to be a good student, and then ended up in a soulless, dead-end job.

The guards are there to delude you. Look, who really gains from you being productive? The answer is the ruling class, the CEOs, the government, the bourgeoisie. It has always been that. All you get from working is a paycheck that lets you survive. They get a paycheck that lets them get rich. Just like Belos gets the magic and productivity of the specialized coven witches.

The guards are there to trick you. The truth is that nobody can join the Emperor’s Coven. It’s just there to make you think that hard work will make you successful. Then you spend your entire life working hard, trying to prove to the person in charge that you’re worthwhile. You give your whole life to the Coven, and they give you nothing. 

Magic is supposed to be something you pursue for fun. Being skilled at things, being good at something beautiful...that’s supposed to be something you do because you want to. But they took that and made it into a source of productivity. It doesn’t matter if you make good content. All people fucking care about is if you upload the day of premiere, if you make a lot of content quickly, if you maintain a million different conversations with strangers who expect you to be the most interesting person in the room. They don’t care how it hurts you. They don’t care how you crack from the stress. How you cry when you think no one can see you, and then you check your phone and someone can see you, someone did see you, and you have to put on your face and be the charming, magnetic person they want you to be. (oh by the way that’s why I wasn’t online much last week)

And it ruins it. Suddenly you can’t watch The Owl House without being stressed. You can’t make any content. You can’t make spells as powerfully as you want to. Your passion is replaced by perfectionism and insecurity, a voice telling you to keep being the best at what you do, or else they’ll forget you and let you die.

There’s also the Titan. 

So nobody has mentioned him before, because in addition to the Boiling Isles being a hellscape full of witchcraft and queerness, it’s also full of atheists. 

But suddenly we have people saying all this shit about him? Shit like, he gave witches the gift of magic, and then they learned to use it in a civilized manner, since being uncivilized was disrespectful?

I mean, first off, that’s fucking wrong. The island gives people magic. The island, which just so happened to be shaped like a titan-sized human. But the island/titan gives everyone all types of magic. Hell, even Luz gets to use magic, and she’s human. 

It sounds really fucking familiar. (tw for discussion of homophobia and colonialism and misogyny). It sounds like when the news is on and they show some Tr*mp supporter talking about how fetuses have more rights than people and it is their holy duty to take away a woman’s control over her body and force her through unbearable pain and into an 18-year commitment she didn’t want to make. It sounds like all the times people tried to say homosexuality should be illegal, citing a single line in a book written two thousand years ago and heavily edited by a European king. It sounds like all the times people said God wanted them to conquer, to own the entire earth, to force the other races into pain to support them.

This is that bullshit thing people do where they commit awful sins and justify it by citing the will of God. 

Or, it’s the Coven using religion as an excuse for evil.

Look, the Emperor’s Coven is clearly colonizer-coded. Saying that people’s original form of magic was wild (and showing a picture with the same joyous, rowdy energy of an 18th or 19th -century Black or indigenous party), and that it was God’s will for them to be “civilized?” Sounds like that thing that powerful white people did where they went and murdered people and forced them into their twisted capitalist system. God, gold, and glory, is what they said, because history books just love to omit the gore.

Lilith is passing the abuse cycle along. 

You know, like a good little colonizer. God I fucking hate her. She’s a MILF, in the sense that she’s a Mother I’d Like to Fling off a cliff. 

Ah, enough screaming about how much I want to drown Lilith in a tub of Hooty’s mucus. Let’s go into why I want to do that, and how she took the evils of capitalism and just...adopted those.

So, Lilith is sick and twisted for what she did to her sister. But, uhh, that’s the point. You see, there are so many other people out there like Lilith who would do the exact same thing, if given the chance. These are the people who do mean things when the teacher isn’t looking, and then act nice and try to frame you. These are the people who will hate you if you’re better than them. These are people who would do anything to bring you down, if you dare outperform them.

It’s greed, my friends. The mental illness that capitalism blesses us all with.

Lilith herself said it: she dedicated her entire life to the Coven. What she wanted was to be the best. And she almost was...except for her own sister. Someone who lived with her, annoyed her at home, bested her at school. Someone she could never beat, no matter how hard she worked. And her sister was younger than her, too! How insulting was that? Lilith wanted to be the best, and someone in her exact situation did better than her.

Lilith was insecure. And it consumed her.

But why? Why does insecurity consume her? I mean, no one can be motivated by insecurity forever. Well, not unless someone conditions it into you.

The lovely thing about the capitalist system is the morals it teaches you. Things like: “You’re only useful if you’re the best.” “Being school smart makes you smart, while being social smart or sports smart or creative smart or fandom smart is worthless.” “Your worth can be quantified by numbers and is based off arbitrary measures like your income or your grades.” Things that can and will drive us crazy if we let ourselves believe them.

And it did drive Lilith crazy. She got so twisted by a society that said being good at magic is her only worth. Look, Lilith used to be good at things, probably. She was good at sports. At times, she slips up and does an okay job of being Eda’s sister. She has a powerful presence when she’s in a room. And she’s wicked good at manipulating people. 

But that didn’t matter. Lilith bought into the lies. She let herself believe that magical skill was the only way to measure her worth. And since she needed to be the best, she hurt Eda for it.

The beautiful thing is, Eda didn’t buy that. "It’s my power, kid. And before you showed up, I spent my whole life wasting it.” Is what Eda said, as she used up the last of her power, the last of her life, to save Luz. In her final moments, she proved that she’s not like them. She’s stronger than them.

None of this matters. Not magical prowess. Not the hierarchy. Not the promise of joining the Coven and having more power than anyone else.

The only thing that matters to Eda is her family. Her real family. Her Luz, King, and Hooty. And by extension, Willow, Gus, and Amity. Those are Eda’s real reason for fighting, for dying: to protect them. Look, there’s no way she would’ve come out of that fight alive. She has a family, and her love for them is stronger than greed or jealousy or capitalism. 

Lilith never understood that. She thought the water of the womb was thicker than the blood of the covenant. Or, that the water of the womb and the blood of the covenant are stronger than the bonds of found family. She thought it didn’t matter if Eda loved, her, only if the Emperor loved her. Fucking bitch.

And now, a little something to worry about, before we go. Amity Blight. The girl who wanted to join the Emperor’s Coven more than anything, who dedicated her whole life to doing well in school, to being the best, to being perfect.

And then she met Luz. She fell for Luz. Now she’s in a tricky place, where habit and conditioning want her to join the Emperor’s Coven, but her heart wants her to do the impossible and destroy capitalism.

She wasn’t in this episode. Funny that being injured and unable to work ended up saving her from watching her future mother-in-law die. So she bought some time.

But Luz’s true mom is dead. This is the second mom she has lost, and she’s only fourteen. As powerful as King and Hooty are, Luz needs Amity. Luz needs Amity to support her and help her get back her mom.

So Amity has to make a choice. Fear and insecurity, or love and a high chance of death? 

She’ll probably choose death. Because that’s the message that this family-friendly show is giving us kids. Fuck capitalism. All you need in life is to do what makes you happy and be with the ones you love.

The idea though of Hunter being around Edward and Philip has some serious angst to it already, but consider: Hunter is low-key afraid of being around or touched Philip because of Belos.

Oh heck yeah I'm writing that

Luz had run to grab the Owl Lady, leaving Hunter and the Wittebane brothers outside with Hooty. Philip kept asking the weird owl-tube thing questions and every time he asked something new, another shiver slithered down Hunter’s spine.

He didn't know why, not exactly. It was strange to be standing next to his-

What, his uncle? This man from the 1600s certainly wasn't Emperor Belos. Even if he looked like him and talked like him and would become him in the future (or the past? Time travel was confusing, too confusing for Hunter to think about right now), Hunter really had no connection to him.

Philip’s brother - Edward - was probably the closest thing Hunter had to biological family at the moment, although Hunter wasn't sure how exactly. An ancestor, perhaps? Was Hunter powerless because he was descended from a human? For some reason this didn't quite fit, not with how similarly the two looked almost as though Hunter was a clone of him.

Luz finally came back out, practically jumping up and down and tugging on Eda's night gown. If Hunter ever tried that with Emperor Belos he'd just end up with another scar, but he pushed that thought down as hard as he could.

"So you're saying they time traveled?" Eda yawned. "Not the weirdest thing that's happened in the last year, but Hooty has to keep an eye on them."

"Hoot hoot! Yes Ma'am!" the house demon replied in that weird annoying high pitch.

Edward started inside, giving Hooty one last suspicious look. Philip placed a hand on Hunter's shoulder to usher him inside, but instead the boy flinched so hard he nearly fell over.

"Whoa! You alright?" The younger Wittebane sibling gave Hunter a concerned look. A million conflicting emotions washed through the young witch:

Please don't call me weak I swear I can do better don't take pity on me I'll be fine no no no wait don't leave I need you don't hurt me I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry-

"I'm sorry," Hunter choked out, hurrying inside.

Eda blinked as she watched him pass her. "Might need to have more adoption papers ready," she murmured. "Darn Belos, forcing my hand to adopt all these traumatized kids... Mama needs more apple blood for this..." she continued muttering as she walked inside.

"...Did I do something wrong?" Philip asked, looking at his hand. Luz cast a worried glance in Hunter's direction.

"I don't know."

Since my post about what I want for season 3 is blowing up I thought I’d try my hand at what happens in my head for Season 3 w/ Storm, her cousin, & Arya included:

Camila takes in all seven of Luz’s friends

They all have bunk beds and share a room

They’re super chaotic too and always up past their bedtime

Homework is done at the kitchen table

Everyone teases Storm for liking Ava

When she does realize she likes Ava she’s in the room and just goes “oh shit” to witch everyone looks at her

She legit just responds with “fuck, I’m a lesbian”

Arya is very flirty towards Hunter but he’s so dense and doesn’t realize she likes him even when she goes “Oh Hunter, darling~”

Storm cuts her hair almost immediately after arriving in the human realm

She picks up guitar

Aralyn starts stressing like Lilith big time

Once they dares Hunter to do the worm across the room but he didn’t know what it was so Storm did it instead

Storm keeps basically her version of Marcy’s journal, but y’know, owl house, human realm, and her

Everyone teases her when she reveals that her middle name is Evangeline

They all love and fear Camila

Once Willow tried to make Camila a birthday bouquet using plant magic but she went overboard and the whole house became a jungle

So they all just baked her a cake instead

In the human realm no one knows what happened to King

Raine and Eda get back together

Alador uses the infamous Stolas line from the new episode “THAT WAS THE SOUND OF A FUCKING DIVORCE!” on Odalia

Raine and Eda get engaged

For those that went to the human realm and King, they have a little tombstone with all their names on it

Eda visits it often and wallows in her remorse and guilt

Raine had to reassure her

She goes mama mode X10,000 and basically adopts all the kids left

Lilith figures out how to go Harpy mode

Eda gets a prosthetic arm designed by Alador

The Collector is literally just being a weird kid

In the human realm all the witches have to cover their ears and one day out of literally nowhere Stan shows up for Storm

Now she spends a day every other week with him

Flapjack keeps being a cutie

Storm keeps a locket with pictures of her and Eda in it

She loves Guns N Roses

Gus is obsessed with giraffes

He gets a troublemaker side and uses illusions for pranks

Amity is worried about the twins and her dad but not Odalia

Gus helps everyone forge illegal documents with his illusion magic

Camila remembers all the kids (including Vee)’s specific likes and dislikes

Lots of family photos with the witches and Vee get put up on the mantle

Luz & Storm take up major leadership roles

Ed & Em look like their natural selves, no more magic to make them look different

Even Darius is reassuring Eda that she didn’t fail the kids and King

King keeps tricking the collector so that they do what he wants in order to find a way back to the human realm and save the group

The kids have definitely gotten hurt on the bunk beds before but it’s the only option Camila can think of

The gang will FaceTime each other put food up to the camera and “feed” each other

Luz’s palisman hatches

Hunter loves Zuko

Boscha turns around and turns out to not be so bad

Hooty is more sad but still Hooty

Storm likes Mickey Mouse because his voice reminds her of Hooty’s

She tried doing a Hooty impression once and everyone recorded her

Storm starts letting people call her Stormie and starts wearing her glasses rather than her contacts if only so she can feel more connected to Raine and Eda

Eda and Raine talk a lot about raising Storm together and want to make sure she approves before they get married

Eda opens up a teeny bit about Stan and tells Raine how he really does care about Storm and how she loves how easily he makes her smile and laugh

Bunk bed switching definitely happens in the middle of the night

How people say “I’m gonna get you” to like little kids or animals in silly goofy mood voice is Storm whenever she says “I’m gonna commit arson” she also gets in the crab pose to say that

Storm learns how to play poker and Hexes Hold ‘Em

Bedtime stories are a must for the mothers in both realms and so are bedtime forehead kisses

Eda goes through a lot of old photo albums of little Storm with Raine

New Descriptions!!!

           Firstly, we have Hunting Palismen! Palisman Pairing Day… Eda mentioned in Witches before Wizards that witches get their STAFFS when they graduate, which;

           Does this mean that Witches get their Palismans prior to graduation… But they only get the staffs needed to wield them upon graduation? Or did the rules change in the last thirty or so years? Is Belos trying to get kids to graduate ASAP to enter his workforce, bind them into a coven as early as possible?

           WILL WE SEE THE OTHERS WITH THEIR OWN PALISMEN I am SO excited for this episode, will we see Willow, Gus, and Amity with palismen? Background characters with palismen, and cameos for Boscha, Skara, Viney and the Detention Kids??? Palismen would provide SUCH an opportunity for aesthetic and character symbolism, I am HYPED…!

           I do have to wonder- Will kids actually make their palismen, or are they just figuring out which type they’ll pair with? Eda said she made Owlbert, but she’s an exception- So it’s possible that Palismen are premade and assigned to witches… Is this another change from Belos, or how it’s always been?

           If kids aren’t making palismen anymore, could it be due to palisman wood dwindling as a resource, so they have to reuse some? That’d be interesting… And of course, Luz doesn’t pair with any particular palisman of her own! Is the Cardinal from the trailers a Palisman she tried to assign herself towards, but it just didn’t work out- And now the two are working together, perhaps to eventually find out that it CAN work?

           Will Luz perhaps go reach out to the Bat Queen to figure out what her Palisman should be, maybe even adopt one? Again, I adore the idea of Luz adopting a broken palisman for a HUGE list of reasons, found family and whatnot, and also the idea of conservation and rehabilitation, giving these palismans a new home of sorts, how it defies the prejudice that some people have about adopting previously-owned or abuse pets, shelter pets, etc.

           Perhaps Luz will start off with the idea of finding a lost and broken Palisman –like herself- with the Bat Queen, only to stumble across Kikimora and the Emperor’s Coven trying to attack! She of course helps, but this also makes me wonder- With the mention of a ‘foe’ that Luz is working with… Is she working with the Golden Guard? It’s an idea I’d considered beforehand, hence why she has his staff- After all, GG is a rather diplomatic person who will initiate deals and alliances with his enemies without anyone really asking him to!

           Again, there’s that shot from the trailer that looks like his own staff was made from a wild witch’s… Will we see the Golden Guard give a flashback, some backstory into how Belos killed and consumed his Palisman, before converting GG’s staff into the technological one we see today? Does the Golden Guard want to secretly, covertly defy Belos’ extermination of Palismen and their wood, due to his own sentimental feelings and morality- Or is he just trying to use Luz, and she sees a mutual goal she can help him with?

           Perhaps the Golden Guard arranges for a deal with Luz- He’ll stop hunting Palismen if she helps him with this… And/or he’s secretly going against Belos, but in a way that still benefits everyone! It’s possible the Cardinal that Luz has on her shoulder is a broken palisman she befriends- But what if it’s GG in disguise? What if that’s his own palisman, a new one he befriended after the first was killed by Belos, and GG has decided that no more… No more palismen will be hurt!

           Him siding with Luz for this one incident could add to the Golden Guard’s placement between Lilith and Kikimora in the intro… And it’d add to his general ambiguity as a character, as someone who DOES disagree with Belos and will gladly go against him from time to time, but otherwise supports him for the most part. GG could be a contrast and parallel to Lilith, as someone in the Emperor’s Coven with his own morals that makes him defy Belos behind his back, even if overall he still agrees- Except he’s operating more on moral principles, compared to Lilith’s needed bias with her own sister.

           We might see Kikimora figure out the Golden Guard’s treachery and get deeply angered, especially since she’s had to deal with this kid for so long- So she sees an opportunity for some vengeance and transforms into that Hand Dragon… And it’s possible we’ll see GG be banned from the Emperor’s Coven for this, which would REALLY change things up, quickly, as he becomes a rogue agent of his own, one that Luz begins to sympathize with and wants to convince to join her cause…

           Or, GG’s mistake will be tolerated. He might remain hidden, and/or he makes up for it… But he also might get punished, as I’ve speculated before!

           Then in Eda’s Requiem, we have a ‘special witch’ from Eda’s past, obviously Rayne… And they’re enlisting her help in a rebellion against Belos??? This could be a trap, what if it’s not public that Rayne has officially replaced the Bard Coven leader… Their promotion could be EXTREMELY recent, by the events of this episode actually!

           Are they rebelling in part because they don’t want this position, and/or they accepted it as a means of infiltrating Belos’ network and providing information to the rebellion? Could Rayne be associated with the investors at Blight Industries, who seemed interested in the Abomatons and other inventions of Alador- Because the Golden Guard implies the potential for a private army? We might see other pockets and cells of rebellion, some with less altruistic motives, come into play- Especially with Willow and Gus’ protest emboldening everyone.

           Is Rayne being ideological, or do they have their own motives? I’ve speculated before that the original Bard Head was their father… Did Belos kill their father, leading to Rayne’s disillusionment? Is Rayne trying to protect their father, and that’s how they were enlisted as his replacement in the first place? Did Rayne’s father also plot against Belos and was deposed and/or killed for this, and now Rayne is following in his footsteps?

          We could see the show suggest and delve into the idea of a full-blown rebellion against Belos, with Rayne possibly working at the helm, but who knows? Maybe they’ll have to betray Eda after all –again, for their father- or so they can prove themselves to Belos and be promoted as Coven Head… Either for personal gain, or because they’re trying to work against the Emperor from within! 

          Which could lead to a painful misunderstanding, fully justifiable on Eda’s behalf, that Rayne doesn’t care and just used her… Which isn’t entirely wrong, either- And Rayne can only accept this in agonizing silence, because they can’t tell the truth, at least not yet…

           Or, Eda and Rayne knowingly work together to get the latter the Bard Head position! Maybe Eda forgives Rayne a little when she finds out, and respects the mischief and trickery and scamming! Rayne’s betrayal could remind her of Lilith, but if Rayne was actually altruistic in THEIR motives, that could change things for Eda… But it’s called Eda’s Requiem, so we might expect angst and a genuine betrayal, a loss of friendship- And THAT would hurt!

           And then, Knock, Knock, Knockin’ on Hooty’s Door has him attempting to help the trio! Baseless speculation I shall throw out, will he try to turn himself into an autonomous creature to help, only to transform into a terrifying owl monster, the one from the trailer? Maybe from trying to split the curse further with Eda and Lilith? Or will this just be a breather episode where the characters are allowed to mostly just exist and interact with one another, enjoy each other? That’d be nice…

So now that Skara and willow are dating, does that mean Skara is welcomed in the owl house? If so how did her first experience there go? Any Skarlow headcanons specifically taking place there?

This is one of those questions I should have considered previously but never really did. Yeah, Skara probably would spend a lot of time at the Owl House if she’s . So, how would that play out exactly?

When she arrives the first time Skara is mortified by the existence of Hooty, questioning how the Titan could allow for such a disgusting and unholy beast to exist anywhere outside the darkest corners of hell.

Or, more accurately, she’s weirded out by him a little, maybe a bit grossed out at times, but ultimately she finds him a harmless demon. But if he gets too weird to handle, or he gets in between her and Willow kissing, she won’t hesitate to play a lullaby to magically get him to sleep.

King and Skara have a bit of a friendly rivalry; both being some of Luz’s best friends, they’ll occasionally get annoyed and attempt to one-up each other in who’s the better friend. But when they aren’t fighting over their friendships with Luz, they have a mutual respect for each other, particularly in their creative capacity’s. King likes Skara’s music, and Skara likes King’s stories he occasionally write, and they try to help each other with them (though Skara never actually was a big fan of Rulers Reach that was a very mean prank pulled by the Blight Twins beCAUSE SKARA NEVER KISSED A KING CUTOUT AND I WILL DIE ON THAT HEADCANNON HILL!!!)

Eda and Skara get along surprisingly well. Though Eda never adopts her, she believes any friend of Luz and Willow’s can’t be all bad, and the more she spends time with Skara the more she likes her. The older witch see’s a lot of her young self in Skara; headstrong, fiery, chaotic, and free spirited. She offers Skara a wise old soul to help her when she needs it. Though that doesn’t mean she doesn’t embarrass Skara and Willow every chance she gets whenever they come over together. She loves doing that. A lot. (She also does that to Luz and Amity, so it’s ok.)

Skara doesn’t spend a lot of time at the Owl House. But she and Willow do go there from time to time, particularly for sleepovers and Moonlight Conjurings. In fact, it’s one of these sleepovers that’s where she accidentally tells Willow how she feels. After a long night of fun, Hunter, Gus, Amity and Luz are all asleep, leaving Skara and Willow as the only ones up. Willow decides to try gazing up at the night sky, and Skara joins her, gazing out at the world through Luz’s window. During this, Willow’s busy looking up at the sky, and Skara’s busy looking at Willow, and mindlessly just says Willow’s the most beautiful person in the world. Willow’s stunned, and Skara’s embarrassed, so she tries to lie and say she didn’t say that. But Willow asks if she really did mean that, and the earnest, honest way she asked caused Skara to be earnest and honest herself; yes, she does think Willow’s beautiful, and a lot of other wonderful things too. Willow, flattered, admits that she feels similarly about Skara, much to her surprise. The two sit there at the window, red faced and unsure what to do, until Willow takes Skara’s face in her hand and asks to kiss her.

Before Skara can respond, Hooty reveals himself as an audience member in all this who’s absolutely ecstatic to be witnessing young love bloom yet again. Unfortunately he shocks both girls too much for them to do anything but glare at the owl tube. That’s when Skara decided that she’d put it to sleep if she thinks it’s about to hurt her chance of kissing Willow.

Still, Willow asks Skara to be her girlfriend, which Skara happily accepts, and the new couple cuddle up to each other, staring into the star filled sky, looking for anything as beautiful as their new partner and failing.

Murder and violence are not ok!

This whole thing started literally after s1ep2 where Eda murdered a dude on screen.

What am I talking about?

"It's just a cartoon. Don't read too much into it."

I don't have a very strong opinion on this but I'm not a fan of normalizing murder. Also "Heroes that are genocidal maniacs, kill the villain cause he's awful." sounds extremely cringe.

And why are you reading a post that analyses a part of a cartoon right now?

"Death is normal on the Boiling isles, so that makes it ok."

Woah, woah! WHAT?

If everyone used that logic, slavery would still be a thing.

Just cause it's normalized in a culture doesn't mean it's less harmful or that everyone that comes from that culture does it.

It can be used to explain someone's actions, but not excuse them.

The ignorance of context.

1. Eda's murders

First I wanna point out that it was never emotional, it was all calculated. Remember when Tibbles scammed her, she didn't attack him back. None of her kills are revenge. She has always had something to win from them.

She has murdered two people, probably more, Adegast and Tibbles.

If she didn't kill Adegast. I can see this going two ways. He would starve to death, which means she put him out of his misery or he would slowly go back to full power which ties with Tibbles.

Batman kills the Joker.

No they are not as bad as the Joker but they would have continued trying to hurt her untill they got the idea of killing Willow and Gus in their sleep. TIBBLES KNEW THEIR ADDRESS!

Also if they were willing to do this. Who knows what else they have done to other people too. By doing this she has saved more lifes than she has taken (mostly kids).

Plus this willingness to kill is probably the reason Luz can go to school. Eda's enemies know that if they become an actual treat, things won't end well.

Her enemies are criminals. They are not stupid enough to think that she is helpless without magic. Especially now that she isn't running from the law.

- Now on to almost killing Amity in s1ep5 by making Luz cheat. That was messed up but not that badly.

Witches are harder to hurt, there were healers around who would help a Blight. She saw Amity use abomination so she knew mainly her traps were gonna be activated by a non-living thing.

Luz was going to be injured if that didn't happen. Amity was not in control of her strength and I don't think Lilith thought this trough. Though both sisters would have probably intervened when this got out of hand.

She also isn't the one to force Luz into the fight as many people have said. She has never on screen forced her opinion on someone else except in s1ep9 which was to protect her from school and changed in that episode. Luz just couldn't leave cause quitting ment never being able to perform magic.

Now I know that the right thing to do here was for her to try talk things through. I'm just saying it's not as bad as it seems.

2. Eda's scamming

To get my point across I'm gonna compare it to Wordlob.

Hers is the equivalent of you trying to buy gold and getting plastic. His is the equivalent of you're desperate for a cure and he promises to give it to you and then steals all your money and leaves you to die.

You're not going to try to buy gold when your desperate are you?

Scamming can take different forms and hers is the least harmful.

And consider this, what else can she do to put food on the table with her two adopted kids, Hooty and Owlbert. She can't find a legal job, cause that would be helping Belos, she'll die before she does that and she definitely knows ways to disguise herself but that puts her at risk as well.

3. Lilith's redemption arc still works

Yes, she did murder a bird in s1ep18, but the way it talked and acted. It seemed like it was mimicking speach.

Yes, she did almost kill a child, but she has made up for it probably in that week and a half that we didn't see considering this is the Boiling isles and everything is trying to kill you.

Plus, Eda only talked about the curse, considering "You hurt Luz, you cursed me!" She is not the person who would forget about her kid.

Bonus, she did make up for it on screen as well. In s2ep2 she saved King from Eda's experiments. In s2ep3 she saved Luz and King with her ice glyphs, when she could have just left, giving time for Eda to get them out of there. If Eda didn't show up Lilith would be dead.

4. Bump's jokes

- Dissecting Luz

I don't know why everyone talks about Bump and Amity trying to dissect Luz. They weren't certain if this was going to kill her. They weren't certain if she was alive. All they knew was that the lie will be broken if this would kill her.

Yes, they did try to catch her later on, but not to kill her. They wanted to make sense of what's going on and hopefully find her parents so she gets at the very least a talk on why she shouldn't do this.

Willow just overreacted which in return made Luz do the same.

- Bump's detention room

This room is a hypnosis one. Hypnosis is a job in real life. It can be dangerous but that can also be said about therapy if the therapist is bad. Depends on who does it.

"Impressive still alive!" This is a joke.

If a hypnotic session is stopped in the middle, you'd be too relaxed to be able to move. He was fine, he just needed some time.

- Bump's add

Everything that attacked Matt was alive. He probably did something to piss them off. But yeah Bump should have done something.

- Detention track

Guys knowing what he did for Willow in s1ep3, it's obvious that he was in a lot of stress. If he did what he did in that episode regularly. You just touch an orb and byeeeeee. Then this place should have been crowded.

Plus the wall with troublemakers' names had what six names and a portrait of lord calamity. Eda left school before three decades. And that's all we got.

He was probably not gonna keep them there even though he said so. He probably wasn't even planning that.

- Grom was very messed up. I have nothing to say except I wouldn't be surprised if the Emporer's coven forces this to be a thing and refuses to send actual adults, so the kids learn from a young age or whatever.

- Same with the photomemory class.

- "Bosha got away with murder. I can't say I approve, but at least she's trying new things."

This was a joke. Bosha's parents definitely have influence. His hands are tied like usual so he has learned to make jokes out of it. Plus since when are principals responsible for what happens out of school grounds.

5. The bat queen

She is a protector of palismans and I don't think she started to kill until the government was against her (I'm talking about her cave having bones all over it.)

I can't say it's completely justified like I did with Eda. But I don't see a way out of it where palisman wouldn't be extinct.

Now let's see our vilians' behaviour

1. Adegast

He was trying to kill Eda for his business by using a child as a bait.

2. Tibbles

He almost murdered four children so his stand is revenged.

3. Piniate

Is keeping people captive and literally is making them helpless as a punishment for not writing a book.

4. Demon hunters

They were gonna trow kids off a cliff. I'm not sure why actually.

5. The cat ladies

They were kidnapping children for their cafe.

6. The "coven" inspecture

She was stealing all the magic from none other than kids for power.

7. Wordlob

Who knows how many people have died, lost their jobs and so one, cause of his scams. All for money.

8. Warden wrath

He cut Eda's head so she goes out with him. Captures people for nothing.

9. Odalia and Alador

Alador was not stopping Odalia from trying to kill Luz. In their mind this was gonna help in combination with their child abuse, with their daughter helping their business. Everything they have done for now is for their business.

They backed up when Alador saw an opportunity for THEIR BUSINESS.

10. Kikimora

She tried to murder a child, cause of jealousy. Uses her authority to make the system even worse, cause how dare them look in her direction.

11. Belos

Is abusing a child and abused Lilith. Is the reason that palisman are getting extinct. Wild magic= death sentence. Basically created a horrible authority system that has created a lot of suffering and who knows how many it has killed. Probably all for power, though we don't know completely.

for people who wonders what Anne looks like even though no one probably read my story..uh..here she is!

Anne Noceda/Clawthorne is a 10 year old human girl who was adopted by Eda at 2 months old (idk how it works pfft-) How did she get to the boiling isles you ask? well, Lilith one night some how stole Eda's portal without being caught, and used it to get to the human realm. She walked out of an abandoned house to see another better looking house in front of her, she saw a human baby on the left side of the house in the window, Lilith cautiously walked over and opened the window with her magic and took the baby, she thought that if she gave this child to Eda, she would for sure take it in because 1; its human, and 2; she wouldn't leave a baby outside without an adult or a home, especially a human one, so she made sure to be careful to not wake the sleeping human and summond a basket with a blanket and wrapped the human in the blanket with her magic and put it in the basket before quickly going back into the portal and walking to Eda's house, she made a note and placed it in the basket and placed down the basket at Eda's door, she knocked on the door loudly before quickly running off before hooty would wake up.

Eda woke up to the loud noise (tbh idek what this turned into JHBIRUBFCIWRU) and groaned, getting out of her nest and slamming open her bedroom door and walked out and downstairs to the front door, she opened it to see a baby, but not just any baby, a human one, her ears perked up a bit as her eyes widened and she gasped "how- how did a human BABY get here?-" She asked out loud but in a whisper since the baby was sleeping as she picked up the baby out of the basket "Well, I'll find that out later..for now I gotta take- wait..you- your parents ain't here..Well- I uh-..guess I'll take care of you..- anyway, lets find you some food you can eat for later"

later on in life, at age 10 her friends Luna, Lezibel, Alistair, Noroi, Sapphire, and Clarity were killed by the emperor, Anne tried to save them but failed. Even though her friends were brought back to life by Lezibel (shes a demon from hell-) Anne still to this day blames herself, and Kamen has thoughts put in her head (ok so rq, Anne has trauma, from being bullied at Hexside all the way to her friends dying and well, just kamen) that shes just too sensitive and that her trauma doesn't matter. Which made Anne stay distant with Eda, King, Luz and her friends, and she doesn't really eat much anymore and no one knows why yet.. (yes shes depressed shut up-)

Marcy tries to make her self useful most the season but she’s in a world she has no idea how it works she’s still recovering physically and emotionally and eda is an actually responsible adult who doesn’t try to make her prove herself at any point

Her arc is mostly about trust specifically towards eda Regret and learning she doesn’t need to be Usalful to have worth

Her and hunter get a heart to heart at some point i would LOVE to give them a full “episode” but I don’t wanna mess with the episode codes further, I was able to keep them mostly intact but still maybe a B plot somewhere?

Marcy is able to relate to hunter in a way no one else can

She goes in hollow mind she and Luz are both with eda that night and she sees Luz run off and decides what the hell and follows her

So Marcy is the one who does most of the “your uncles a bitch” talk to hunter. Luz does to but Marcy is MUCH more istsnt on it pointing out the fucked up ahit their stories have in common

She points out how he put massive pressure into hunter and the fact he’s basically a child soilder and how he purposely put him into dangerous situations on MANY OCCASIONS

One of the memories they enter has andrais in it and Marcy just completely stops. Like she freezes. she hasn’t seen him since she escaped and clearly this is an older memory.

Luz didn’t know about andrais she doesn’t know what confection he has to Marcy

Hunter knows about andrais and how he’s allies with Belos

In the Memory andrais is clearly shown to be horrible, and hunter tries really hard to justify his uncle working with andrais.

Marcy and Hunter argue about it, which cathes the pallismin spirits attentions which leads to them running away luz tries to mediate it doesn’t go well.

Tensions are high

That is until they make it to the golden guard hall

We all know how the rest goes

When Marcy and hunter and Luz make it out of the hollow mind scape (hehehe) Luz asks Marcy who andrais is she just looks at her and then hunter runs off

Okay so this is rushed First off honestly I’m just bored and I wanna throw some thoughts out there into the world

Andrais and Belos are allies up until pink frogo stole the box cutting off communications between the two mad tyrants

When andrais gets the box he contacts Belos who is still trying to get his portal up and running and despite everything andrais doesn’t know exactly where the boiling ilses is so they decide to wait on invasions/ taking over for magic.

The procheys diffent here as well

So this is part of the reason Belos in this au hates wild magic it is assumed “witch who loves the wild and the light” refers to a wild witch

In Amphibia magic is strictly bans from larger cities but it’s difficult to enforce in small towns just to be safe

Any magic beyond simple spells are really hard to find there used to be levels beyond the first three but almost all knowagle on them was destroyed in amphibia

Andrais has some left from when the portals where permeatally opend and it ends up going into Darcy. Giving her a power up to her suit and some spooky powers.

This au used to fill my thoughts and I just randomly remembered it

Would anybody be interested in, like, a summary of the chapters if I did write this?

Sasha walked into the dingy bar with a scowl. Her parents were fighting again. They were already divorced, but for some reason, they still fought over everything. This particular fight was about her mom wanting more days with her, even though she already (sadly) had the most days with her and it had already been ruled by court.

So now Sasha Waybright, a middle schooler, had to drag herself to get her own dinner with her measly allowance, and this restaurant/bar thing that closed to everyone under the drinking age after 8 to become a full bar was the cheapest place she could find.

Her scowl lessoned slightly when she saw the few arcade machines that had been wired to play for free. There was only 4 cabinets, and all really old games, but at least she could lessen her angst with Pac-Man.

She blinked a few times and looked up at the menu, picking out the cheapest thing that could actually sustain her hunger. Mac and cheese. Her mortal enemy. She let out a long suffering sigh and walked up to the register.

"What would you like to order, hoot?" The most obnoxious voice she had ever heard spoke. ('Hoot???' kinda weird) A person with brown hair that stuck to their scalp weirdly and disproportionately long limbs stood in front of her, beady eyes staring at her. More like on top of her, because Christ, this person was tall! Their- his name tag had Henry crossed out and replaced with Hooty (something to do with the hoot he made earlier???) written on it with a scribbled he/him below it.

Sasha realized she hadn't answered him and mumbled a quick "Mac and cheese…" tapping her foot impatiently.

He smiled kindly with his strangely stretched mouth. "That'll be 13.55! What's your favorite flavor of dumdums?"

Seeing the strange look Sasha was giving him, he chuckled (seriously what was with his voice???) and spoke again. "Every customer gets a lollipop, hoot!"

"... I don't have a favorite flavor."

He blinked in surprise, but quickly covered it with a laugh. "Couldn't make a decision huh? I get that, hoot!" (Was that a vocal stim or something??? Marcy had some of those, even if they weren't this common, so that might explain it) He dug into the glass container of lollipops and handed her a strawberry dumdum.

Sasha hesitantly grabbed the lollipop from him and handed him the money.

"I'll let you know when your food is done, hoot! Should be easy seeing as you're the only customer, huh?" He chuckled at his joke while Sasha just nodded jerkily and wandered over to the arcade machine for Pac-Man.

"Eda, order of Mac and cheese!"

"Um, Eda's upstairs Hooty, did you want me to go get her?" An uncertain young voice called back.

"... No, just make the order yourself Luz, hoot!" You've been here long enough to know how!"

"…Ok…"

Sasha listened to this conversation disinterestedly, focused on dodging ghosts. After a few minutes of playing the obnoxious voice of Hooty called out again "Your order is done kid! Hoot!"

Sasha groaned as the little yellow circle known as Pac-Man was devoured, walking over to the counter and grabbing her food. She walked over to one of the tables and sat down, picking discontentedly at the Mac and cheese before forcing herself to eat it.

She heard footsteps stomping down what sounded like stairs, and a foxy voice called out "Hooty, did you read my diary again-!? Oh, there's a costumer." Sasha glanced up.

A pale lady with her hair died white and ginger roots poking out was standing on the steps that she hadn't noticed before with her hands on her hips. She had a gold tooth (that looked more like a fang than any normal tooth to be honest) and an abnormal eye color that almost matched the gold of the tooth. Her name tag said Eda she/her with scribbled drawings surrounding it. She fixed Hooty with a cold stare. "We'll be talking about this later."

Hooty audibly gulped and ran his hand through his weird hair with a nervous chuckle, even higher pitched than his earlier ones and babbling a few of his apparently signature hoots as Eda retreated into the backroom that Sasha could only assume was the kitchen.

(This place was weird.)

(…She'd have to come back again.)

Sasha finished the rest of her Mac and cheese and sat up, dumping the contents of her tray in the trash and setting it on the pile of trays on top of the trashcan.

Hooty, who was writing what she guessed was his will after that interaction with Eda, who seemed to either be his boss or some kind of higher-up based on his earlier reaction, fixed her with his strange stretchy smile and a wave as she walked out.

On her walk home, she sighed and ran her hand through her hair, subconsciously copying Hooty's earlier action as she thought about the strange little restaurant. Either they were friends outside of work or Hooty really needed to work on boundaries. He allegedly read Eda's diary??? AGAIN???

What a weird workplace relationship. Just what a weird workplace, actually. But a surprisingly comforting place to eat, Sasha thought with a hum as she popped the free strawberry dumdum into her mouth, turning the thought around in her mind. She would definitely return.
