1. CRIMINALLY underrated as a key player in the narrative. so often in fan content, he’s relegated to comic relief when in reality his character arc is the fucking CO-FOCAL POINT of ch1 (alongside susie’s)

but where susie learns that opposition isn’t always the answer, and it can lead to her hurting people she loves, lancer learns that the authority figure in his life isn’t omnipotent and perfect and he can stand up for what he knows is just. he can question the adult in his life he can BE HIS OWN PERSON and he doesn’t have to feel like he’s not good enough. fuck. not personal or anything prommy (lying)

someone should write a carmen sandiego fic where everything takes place as normal except for the fact that carmens mom is a part of team red from the start.

imagine her scolding carmen for her lack of self-preservation during missions because she doesn't want to lose her daughter again. her never making fun of, in fact actively encouraging, zack's hunger because it just means she gets to cook more and he always gushes about how good her food is. her listening to ivy talk about a new upgrade for red drone she's been wanting to install despite her not understanding anything the red head says. her making sure player is taking care of themself and assuring them that the world isn't going to end if they take a break, because they're just a kid. they're all just kids that need a team mother figure. she doesn't get her own orphanage like she does in the actual series, but who needs an orphanage when you've got dumbass globetrotter children right here?

her being awkward co-parents with shadowsan because while yeah, he didn't actually kill her husband, he was originally the one sent to get a hit on him and the one who burnt his house down + the one who brought her daughter to an island of isolated criminals. she understands he's changrd but she's still... iffy, around him.

ok let's talk about max chapman cos GOD i've been waiting for a character like her for literally forever lol...

she's such an interesting and complicated character that honestly feels so HUMAN!

her journey of discovering her sense of identity, both in terms of her queerness and her own independence, is so real and beautifully portrayed!! also, her stubbornness in the face of adversity as well as her stubbornness in the face of her own desires feels SO relatable tbh (she knows what she wants, and she'd gonna GET what she wants, but also she's terrified of what she wants, and what if what she think she wants isn't really what she really wants? etcetc)

and her fear of failure is so palpable, and it's very much a fear of rejection that mirrors itself in her relationship with her mother and uncle bertie... (she doesn't want to let her mother down, even though she knows who she is is inherently never going to be who toni wants her to be, and being confronted with bertie showed that rejection from the family and that terrifies her!)

another thing i really appreciated was how selfish she could be, albeit unintentionally. she takes clance for granted at times, she uses gary, she hurts bertie with her words condemning his identity, and even her comments to esther were harsh... but she makes amends, she apologises and grows! It's honestly one of the first times i'm seeing an adult female character in a piece of media be allowed to be so messy, but also just so GOOD!

like her heart is always so desperately in the right place! she gets the crab for clance, despite the humiliation, she lies to her mother for so long about her other job because she doesnt want to hurt her, she continues to meet with carson despite the fact she had already given up hope that she would ever get close to having her own team like the peaches, she knows when she's fucked up and she acknowledges and apologises for it!

she's just... she's wonderful and i love her lol

...oh no. Neverafter is, genuinely, a perfect angle for a Master thesis, especially with the two ideas I currently have in mind. I have a deep love for fairy tales, and this campaign is very intriguing to me (just started it, no I'm not procrastinating an exam what-). I'm still going to angle my first idea around Burrow's End (it's quite literally the best thing ever), I'm looking at Neverafter, believe you me.

Anyway. Off I go watching more Neverafter instead of doing my Middle English exam. Oh well.

When I say I was shook af to hear Thompson in the doc say she’s excited for the next World Cup cause she won’t have to be the youngest anymore. Like, how is she so confident she’ll even be there?! 😭

This probably sounds petty but I’m so fr I’ve never heard an NT player assume they’ll be at the next World Cup or Olympics like that. Even Williams in the doc was like who knows if I’ll keep getting called up. Thompson just doesn’t seem to be aware at all that she got her call up because of injuries to other players and it’s craaazy.

Tbf she's still young. She has plenty of time to develop and get better. That definitely doesn't excuse the blind belief that she'll automatically make the WC squad in 4 years, but she probably has a higher chance than some of the vets (if the older vets are even playing anymore at that point) if she actually improves

I'm always careful to full on bash someone who's that young because she obviously hasn't had too much experience with the senior team, media, etc. so I'd always take her words with a grain of salt. She's probably just excited (as she should), but I definitely understand how it could rub people the wrong way
