Sandor: *Spends his whole life trying to prove that he's not as bad as his older brother, Gregor {who r*pes, kills, etc}*
Rorge: *Stole Sandor's identity by somehow getting his grubby paws on Sandor's famous Hound helmet, and wearing it during a r*ping and killing spree with friends*
Most "Fans": *Actually believe Sandor regrets not r*ping and killing Sansa Stark {who he loves most} before he fled King's Landing {he was dying and was saying whatever he could to get Arya Stark *Sansa's litle sister* to finally end his suffering, but she robbed him and left him for dead}*

i'm not reblogging the original post because the op seems great and i don't want to hurt feelings. but this is such a fun-killing take i genuinely want to gnaw my arm down to the marrow of the sea-foamy bone:
"if the most interesting thing you can think of about a character is the ship you like them with, then I don't think you actually like that character very much."
romantic relationships where every lamb becomes the knife and every knife becomes the lamb are not interesting to you? or what about vampiric psychosexual laments full of blood-bound codependency where the lovers are each other's slow descent into decay and ruin? i mean, that's fun! that is objectively fun!
shipping is strangeness and sincerity and terror. it's vault-bright lucy and her irradiated wasteland-rotten ghoul. it's louis de pointe du lac's naked centering of lestat in a narrative other characters keep trying to invade but louis stubbornly just won't let them. it's these violent delights having violent ends. it's transgressing societal boundaries of right and wrong (an inherently empowering narrative for women and gay men who have been told what to do our whole damn lives.) it's paying homage to a cruel god but also that cruel god is an ordinary person traversing a post-apocalyptic landscape with you. it's hand in unloveable hand! it's hand on my cowardly heart!
the most intersting thing about many many many characters are their romantic entanglements. and that's okay! it's more than okay! it's lush and febrile nutritional goodness that incapsulates all aspects of fiction and therefore life, from horror to devotion, from tenderness to gut-shocking betrayals, from loving monstrosity to hateful divinity.
if you ever catch me not shipping, call a priest. i've been possessed.

You know what an underrated animal-coded ship dynamic? Black cat x orange cat dynamic. It still has the opposite attract from the black cat x golden retriever but with the intentional no-braincell fuckery from the orange cat instead of cheer and happiness from the golden retriever. Like yeah the black cat would be silent in one corner melting to the shadow and the orange cat is hurling itself at a wobbly shelf with a) no plan, b) no foresight, and c) the meaning to fuck something up however it's done in the end. It's peak dynamic. To me at least

It’s almost 2024 and Lannister posts are still like:
Cersei is a drunk, stupid, lazy, crazy, fat, ugly bitch who is exactly like her rapist and abuser 😡 (but did Bobby B really raped and abused that whore ??)
Poor Jaime everyone is so mean to him cause he killed Aerys and saved everyone and his bitch sister won’t break her back to accommodate his every whim 😥 But I know brienne will 😁
There are no Lannister stans, only male centered Jaime stans.
Misogyny is so crazy cause Cersei is one of the best-written characters in the books and genuinely has the complexity + nuance that Jaime stans (*cough*dick-riders*cough*) swear he has but since she's a female character, she gets reduced to a prop in his story. Minimally satisfying is the fact that even when they demonize her to hell and back, they can't find any way to make him seem interesting without bringing her up. His "redemption arc" is just his stans going "Doesn't he look so much better in comparison to Cersei?" and pretending that being in Brienne's proximity will magically purify him. The irony of people (i.e. his misogynistic stans) largely reducing him to his relationships with two female characters isn't lost on me. If they didn't hate women so much they could just enjoy Cersei's character, but I guess they like settling for crumbs of character development.

Modern Inheritance: Experimental (Supershort)
'What if you fashioned a ward to prevent your brain from knocking around in your skull?' Saphira settled her head down before sending a short snort of air from her nostrils at her Rider. Her mouth opened just slightly, revealing the very tips of ivory teeth in the draconic approximation of a sly grin. 'Help stabilize it in all that empty space.'
"Oh, ha ha, very funny." Eragon retorted, staggered by the warm blast. "It's not a bad idea. I'm not too keen on testing it out on my own brain, though." He shook out his hair, the saltwater feeling tacky as it dried.
"Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it." Eragon looked over to where Arya was wringing out her braid. "We tried that one before. All it did was give me a bloody headache." Despite himself the Rider felt his cheeks blush. He wasn't looking at anything, he had more respect for her than that, but he was distinctly aware of the fact that the elf had yet to dry her soaked fatigues. More importantly, dry them and put them back on.
'We?'
Glenwing scrubbed a spare shirt through his hair, doing his best with one hand to fluff out the silver strands and give them ample airflow to dry. Saltwater and the more intricate parts of his prosthetic did not behave well together, and it was going to be a good hour before he was satisfied with cleaning the mechanical limb. Rhunön would have his head if he fried it. "That was, uh...one of our more experimental spells." He gave an almost sheepish shrug. "It was a bit of a 'you try your idea on me, I'll try my idea on you' sort of deal."
"What was Arya's idea, then?"
Glen paused and looked to his commanding officer. Who took that moment to busy herself with shaking the sand off her sodden pants, suddenly very interested in the task. "The fact that I can't remember says volumes."
Saphira let out another snort of amused laughter. 'Walnut rattling in an empty jar.'
"Rude!"

seeing white people portray house stark as indigenous while profiting off of living on indigenous land and our genocide will never sit right with me. using racial aesthetics and stereotypes to portray a fictional white family and not doing shit to help us, it’s gross to me that we’re used like this.
