Society has regressed too much, media literacy is fucking dead.

It’s genuinely upsetting opening tiktok and finding stupid ass comments like “Alastor’s last name is Altruist!” “Alastor wants to be a father figure to Charlie and he genuinely cares about her” “Alastor has good intentions and wants to help with the hotel for selfless reasons” “Alastor is asexual because Rosie called him an ace in the hole” (he is canonically asexual but that is NOT what that saying means) “Blitz doesn’t have feelings for Stolas” “Blitz is just a mean fuckboy and he isn’t severely traumatized” I GENUINELY HATE YOU GUYS.

You make it so hard to enjoy popular media because it feels like i’m the only one looking more into it and not just believing every superficial little thing😭😭 Especially when we get the POV from Alastor himself, of course he will try to make himself look like a good person who wants to help, THAT’S THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT, HE’S MANIPULATING CHARLIE AND THE AUDIENCE.

It does not take rocket science to figure out that a cannibalistic serial killer may not have the best intentions and is only doing stuff that will make HIM gain something, maybe power, maybe trust (personally i’m inclined to believe that his soul is owned by Lilith which would mean that gaining her daughter’s trust would certainly be of help to get him free).

Don’t even get me started on what some of y’all have done with Blitz’s character because it pisses me off to no end. The way y’all reduced him to just a piece of shit while knowing damn well what he went through just because on the surface he appears rude and overtly sexual is absolutely insane.

Pick up a fucking book please, maybe English teachers asking y’all what the authors meant by saying “the curtain was blue” actually had a point, let’s start looking into stuff we like a little better before spouting nonsense on the internet THANK YOU.

BLITZØ IS THE DEFINITION OF AROMANTIC YALL!!!

Just finished watching apology tour and WOW, It's good, and Blitzø's aro-ness is so, so prominent I wouldn't be surprised if it's canon. So here's things I've noticed as an aro person about blitzø that scream aroallo to me

Most Obviously, He NEVER returns romantic feelings to anyone. Literally everyone at that party was his ex that confessed their love- That blitzø then rejected. Everyone was hurt by that very thing, And Blitzø is made out to be the bad guy because of it. But it makes so much sense if he PHYSICALLY CAN'T RETURN THOSE FEELINGS. He has sexual attraction, not romantic. When a partner finally confesses to him he simply doesn't feel the same way. At all. He doesn't know what to do. He rejects them, he hurts them.

And I think that's another thing- He doesn't know it. He believes himself to be an asshole because he's only looking for sexual relationships. He thinks there's something fundamentally wrong with him for not loving people the way they love him, He doesn't know aromantic people exist, To him. It's just another asshole thing he does. Something that will always seep guilt into him, no matter what.

And stars his talk with Stolas- in both this and the previous episode, we can see he likes being friends with benefits, he cares about Stolas, at least a bit. He's a friend(?) that can fill his sexual desires, That's comfortable, that's safe. But Stolas Loves him. Loves him in the way Blitzø can never love him back- They both like each other, But not in the same way. Stolas feels much deeper, Stolas wants the romantic, sappy life that Blitzø can never give. Blitzø of course acts out because he's scared- his belief of being an asshole is confirmed, just another shitty thing he did. He wants to be better.

All this to say. Aroallo blitzø real and true

Something which really has me thinking while reading some takes on Hazbin Hotel and, especially, Helluva Boss, is that people ignore the warning at the beginning.

There is a reason why these shows are intended for an adult audience and it’s not the reason you are thinking about.

Younger people can understand violence (and realize it’s not something which should be imitated) and sex so that’s not the reason, the real reason is that they usually can’t understand the situations characters find themselves in.

I read soooo many “critical” posts blaming either Blitzø or Stolas and the reason was that the poster had never found themselves in a similar situation.

It’s ok, teenagers should have those rose-tinted lenses when talking and thinking about love and relationships (really, you want to have them, trust your friendly aromantic girl in her late 20s) BUT that doesn’t mean that you can understand how different relationships work, especially when you have none real life examples.

Stolitz is so complex because is real, but it shows ADULT problems, which not everyone can understand. You can’t judge it through a “all relationship must be fluffy and pure and perfect” state of mind, because real life relationships outside of “high school sweetheart” AREN’T fluffy and pure and perfect.

- (Modern-ish to modern) Soda blasts tf outta Bruno mars when the Curtis boys are cleaning, and honestly they vibe with it. Him and twobit are such big Bruno mars fans. Steve hates Bruno mars but brushes it off bc soda likes his music

- (Modern) Rip pony and Johnny you would’ve loved Conan Gray and Mitski

- (Modern) Cherry and Marcia like Sabrina, Olivia, TS, artists like that but also Billie eilish, Renee rapp, and Chappell roan, etc. Cherry and Marcia kiss each other.

- (Modern) Marcia also listens to Midwest emo and shi. Also normal emo music. Johnny aswell.

- (Modern) Ponyboy LOVES tv girl

- (Modern) Sometimes cherry is just in the mood to listen to the most hardcore music ever and you’ll look at her and think she’s vibing to something sweet and girly and she takes her headphones out to hear you talk and it’s just screaming

- (Modern) Cherry and pony actually just have the most random assortment of music in their playlists I’ve decided. They have so many liked songs.

- (Modern) ponyboy would cry if he lost an account to something like Pinterest or Spotify, or just anything he’s had for a long time.

- (Modern) Pony leaves his phone on dnd (do not disturb) constantly. He never got Darry’s texts and Darry was like “dawg wtf” and made pony have it so Darry and soda go through the dnd. Johnny also goes through.

- (Modern) Johnny will just give himself piercings galore and his parents practically never notice because he’s either never at the house or they don’t care enough to perceive their son

- (Modern) Pony and Johnny have matching insta bios. They’re tv girl lyrics.

- (Modern) Ponyboy actually puts effort into choosing and editing pictures he takes, especially if he’s posting them, and even more especially if it’s johnny he’s posting. Johnny will just choose the goofiest possible pictures he has of anyone, ESPECIALLY pony, and post them. He literally has a picture of pony delirious and sick flipping him off as his lock screen

- Twobit taught his sister swear words and every time she says one their mom just glares at twobit

- Pony and johnny have matching earrings on opposite ears

- (Modern) Darry only lets pony get ear lobe piercings, but pony wanted an eyebrow piercing and got johnny to do it and when Darry noticed (immediately, mind you) he was grounded for two weeks. He was able to keep it though bc darry was scared it would get infected or heal weird

These next few I’ve had for a while but they were in another list for some reason?? On accident???? Oops

- Pony and Johnny would LOVE mitski and Conan gray in modern au

- Darry is really good at dancing, and before everything happened with his parents would do dance classes on his free time (which he didn’t have a lot of)

- Dally is aromantic.

Okay that’s it the rest I came up with in the past week

- Pony will draw or paint or whatever on anything around him. Don’t leave him alone with art supplies because one moment he’s painting a picture and the next his hand is painted blue. (me)

- Pony will get marked as rude a lot for not continuing conversations but it’s just because he doesn’t realize he’s supposed to say something back and gets anxiety when he doesn’t know how to continue a conversation (me)

- (Some parts of this are modern) Pony and johnny are like attached to each other. If pony is at his desk reading or drawing or doing schoolwork or smth, Johnny will pull up a chair and either rest his head on his shoulder from behind or hug his shoulders from behind to watch. If Johnny is just chilling on his phone, pony will appear next to him and immediately watch over his shoulder and curl up to Johnny. Johnny’s sleeping at the curtis house that night? You better move to the spare room soda, pony’s gonna sprawl out on the bed and Johnnys right up next to him. Pony hovers a lot around Johnny. It’s an anxiety thing

- (Modern-ish bc reasons I can specify) Pony will sometimes just mess with people’s hair without meaning too. He’s used to being able to fidget with and braid Johnny’s or soda’s hair so when he’s with someone it’s like a habit. He was chilling and yapping with Cherry and Marcia once and just reached for the ends of Cherry’s hair and started braiding. When she asked he was like “oh mb” and she’s like “nah, you’re fine girl” and now they all just do each other’s hair sometimes

- putting this here it’s not a hc but it was GONNA BE until I FORGOT (I am now mad)

- There’s gotta be a reason pony doesn’t like green yall…

- (Modern) pony uses gacha sometimes just to like come up with character designs or if he’s bored, but keeps that shit HIDDEN. if anyone around him (besides maybe Johnny) saw he would NEVER hear the end of it

- Soda likes sweets a lot and has like adhd executive dysfunction which just results in lots of cavities bc it physically pains him to brush his teeth sometimes (so me besides the cavities)

before i get into anything i need to disclaim, for my own health, so bear with me:

first of all, i want to stress that word-of-god is fundamentally meaningless in the sense of actual canon (being a teenager under the reign of that book series about a magic school written by a bigot + the whole 2010s fondness of declaring characters to be gay maybe if you keep watching *wink wink* only to turn around and call queer fans deranged for caring too much... ive got no time for that nonsense)

on the other hand, i think there's also something to say for a show that's about 99.999% canonically queer characters and that sometimes narrative is showing not telling... that is to say... even if there hadn't been any kind of word of god, especially in a verse in which relationship structures are built along fundamentally non-heteronormative dominant lines, one gets to analyse different forms of queerness with far more deliberation than one might in a Very Straight Show In Which We Are Aware That This Was Not Intentional

on the... third? hand. specifically aspec identities, still very underrepresented, still very disputed, still very hard-done by, even when the visuals really do lean into a show-don't-tell obviousness (see: all that marketing for alastor being very aromantic and supported by his narrative in the canon, and it's still not "enough," often simply because many people haven't even heard of ace, never mind aro... i digress, but i think, for relevant reasons), so fizzie being read as demi by people who know

what the heck demi even means

have the ability to engage with an aspec-analysis lens

is probably still the vast vast minority!

all this to say. it's not canon, in the way that, say, his being gay is canon, or blitzø being pan is... more canon (in the sense that the word "pan" may not occur to everyone, but it's more obvious within the queer community and those without may at least land on "bi" and be in the correct ballpark) and moxxie being bisexual is 100% indesputably-stated-out-loud canon

in order for it to be canon, it would have to imo:

either be stated out loud in canon (and even then, we get the word "ace" on hazbin and it's StiLl DiSPuTeD okok im calm...)

fizz would have to have a narrative or speech or some kind of important Beat explicitly dedicated to the fact that he Does Not Feel Sexual Attraction unless he's in love (which... honestly... if that were in connection with some kinda beat in blitzø's narrative about feeling like he's unworthy of love... im just sayin.... + it would lean very neatly into exploring fizzmodeus' being an in-universe very non-normative relationship)

in this case, i do think it's a neat little easter egg, without being pandering or *pat pat on the head,* that is supported by the text, and so yeah. fun. if they backtracked on that and in some way decided fizzarolli has had tons of casual sex that he's enjoyed/pursued... i mean, honestly without the word of god, i'd think that was kinda out of character, which leads me back to "yeah, fun easter egg, only canon insofar as it's not disputed by canon!"
