Another headcanon…

I don't often talk about my headcanons here but I was watching Dead Boy Detectives recently and I couldn't help but think Niko would be a perfect Aegoromantic character.

I mean, it's stated multiple times she "loves love" but never had experience and she looks pretty much uninterested in being in a relationship herself. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't remember her manifesting interest in anyone or being "I wish so much I was in a relashionship right now". Of course, it doesn't mean she wouldn't feel the attraction but we don't know specifically about attraction until the character say themself, so I'm basing my theory on the vague information we got.

And being aegosexual myself, I tend to headcanon her as aegosexual as well but no evidences on the sexual attraction part.

I also heard she's not in the comics so, maybe there's hope?

Consider: Aromantic Amy headcanon where the reason she fell "in love" with Sonic is specifically because she can't be with him. Almost like a way of subconsciously avoiding the topic, her crush ended up being someone who can never return her feelings and who refuses to stop moving for anyone, thus ensuring she never has to face the reality that she doesn't want romance.

After all, if he never accepts, then she will never have to see if she really has those feelings. She can long and pine for everybody else to see, but from a safe distance, one where she doesn't have to confront her real feelings. They can be close friends and care for one another, but (she hopes) he will never slow down long enough to give her an answer, and that means she'll never have to accept the outcome.

Because if Sonic rejects her, that's alright. She can say she gave it her best shot, that it doesn't mean anything on their relationship, and nothing changes. She can still be in denial. But if he accepts? Then she has to confront the fact that she may not have those romantic feelings, and for somebody who cares so much about love and has made it such a big part of her identity...that can be a scary thing to admit.

She's scared of her own feelings, and she could use someone to guide her through it. Someone to help her figure out how to accept her feelings and how to celebrate this identity, rather than run from it. Sonic, funny enough, would be perfect for that; someone who, like her, isn't interested in romance, but has embraced it. In a way, that "crush" could come full-circle.

As a confused ace, I think it varies.

There can be people with heats/ruts but don't feel the need to share it with another person. Maybe they want someone to be there but not do anything sexual. They could actually have sex. Who knowssss.

They might not be driven by their instincts like other people are. It doesn't take away the fact that they are an Alpha, Beta, or Omega or female, male, or trans. They just are.

I would think, like irl, there are just people who are like "you just haven't met the right person" or "when you have sex, you'll change your mind". Sure, maybe that is applicable to some people but that still doesn't erase their ace identity and who they are attracted to.

So I hope this helps!
