whats the no 1 thing you wish people knew about plurality and/or specifically interacting with systems?

i thought about this for awhile and here’s my current #1 thing i would like to impress on the minds of everyone everywhere regarding systems: it’s not all about trauma, bro.

like, i don’t want to be seen as Guy Who Is So Traumatized She Broke. i hate that, actually. that feels gross and disgusting. but there’s this push in so many plural spaces to view DID, and plurality in general, as this inherently traumatic disordered horrific thing, and anyone who has DID must be deeply traumatized and completely defined by that trauma. in these attempts to weed out “fakers” and the scary evil endogenics “taking over our spaces,” we’ve boiled down the broad spectrum of multiplicity into one box — trauma. it’s got to be trauma. you’re not a system unless you’re traumatized. im assuming things about your trauma right now. i look at you and your headmates and all i see is the horrific trauma that must be haunting you to this very day, you poor thing.

and im kinda sick of it? i am also a person. i and the rest of my system would really like to be seen as a person, not some disordered traumatized shattered individual who needs to be pitied and coddled. i’m a fucking person, and i love being plural, and i’m glad i’m a system. so fucking there.

(also i don’t even think you absolutely have to be traumatized to be a system, because literally who am i to tell someone their brain has to work the way the dsm orders it. the dsm, which is of course only known for being good helpful and correct and not a tool for various bigotry of all sorts. im not going full discourse here but to be clear this blog IS an endo safe space. love u endo systems and all plurals who don’t id as traumagenic/did/osdd systems. stay cool)
