idk what to post so here's me getting excited over an animated hedgehog lol
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 so far is VISUALLY STUNNING. The lighting, the animation and SFX, just, BEAUTIFUL ON SO MANY LEVELS.
Everything about the trailer blew my mind, but I will do a post about my thoughts and theories on it later on. For now I wanna talk about the Blueberry Muffin himself.
Sonic in the movie looked GREAT. He got a small upgrade compared to how he looked in both Movie 1 and 2. (Especially Movie 1)
But he's still the goofy, heroic dork he is, and I'm SUPER EXCITED to see my boy again!! 💕
I don't know what else to post, so I'm just gonna gush over some of my favorite (which I'll admit, are almost every shot of Sonic in the trailer. Just wanna admit that, right now XD) shots of the Blue Devil.
I will do another version of this but with Shadow, but that'll be in the future. Shadow looks INSANE in the movie, so of COURSE I will lose my mind over his design once the post comes out lol
Tumblr media
But right out of the gate, we got a really cool shot of Sonic running through a log, I think? Absolutely love the blue glow emitting the entire dark interior. And it gave Sonic a nice glow, too.
I love how determined he looks here, too. There were some scenes in the trailer where it looked like Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were racing each other. I think it's really adorable that the Wachowski Bros. spend time together by just racing through the woods outside of their own house.
This shot looks like Sonic might be in the lead.
Tumblr media
Tom: "It hasn't always been easy, but it can't change who you are *points to Sonic's heart* in here."
Sonic: "Yeah. In my lungs."
The pure innocence from this hedgehog is killing me 😭
This is probably after the race? Idk when this is taking place, after all, all we got is a trailer. But I'm just spitballing here, but this is definitely another scene in the series where Tom gives Sonic some profound words for him to remember by.
But anyways, I love this shot of Sonic. You can already tell there is some slight differences with how he looked in the first film and the second film, which I kind of already freaked out over on this post here lol.
His expression complete with his line is just the perfect mixture for this shot. It describes Sonic to me. He's got a heart of gold, but at times he can be just a little confuse but still got the spirit.
He's just a child 😭
Tumblr media
Here we got Sonic casually breaking the laws of physics just to grind on a tree branch, because he's just that cool.
Tumblr media
Now this shot here? PROBABLY ONE OF MY FAVORITES.
Sonic is up in the air, twirling around with a huge smile on his face 🥺
He is having the TIME of his life. He is just so happy AAAAAAAAA-
Also, I love that Sonic's body, mainly his chest, has become a bit more puffy (since the Knuckles show anyway), but he still has that bean shape in certain shots lmao (Got a bit of Classic Sonic in there since day one XDDD)
Tumblr media
I mean, come on. Look at his cheeks and tell me he don't have any baby fat anymore? He's still small! He's still squishy!! 🥺
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways badass Blueberry. EPIC callback to the beginning of SA2, only this time Tails and Knuckles are along for the ride. (also love Tails' expression as he jumps off the helicopter.)
Tumblr media
I love this particular shot a lot for some reason XD
Knuckles really wants to fight Shadow despite Sonic not wanting to. He wanted to handle Shadow just by talking things out (clearly he has not met the dude) and Knuckles is over here ready to throw hands.
Tumblr media
Sonic looks very annoyed here 🤣
I'm just so happy to see Sonic and Knuckles together on screen again after the Knuckles show. I fell in love with their dynamic ever since. Sonic and Tails' bond is truly special to me, but it's Sonic and Knuckles' bond that means SO MUCH to me, and I SERIOUSLY need to write more about these dorks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the face of a hedgehog who was NOT prepared for the horrors that is Shadow the Hedgehog and maybe bisexuality. XD
Tumblr media
Pissed off Blueberry.
Sonic is one of those characters where they rarely get upset or angry, but when they, it's badass and genuinely terrifying. I am NOT ready to see Sonic get so upset in this movie.
I know shit is about to go down in this movie, and I know Sonic is probably gonna go feral when it does. And it won't be pretty.
Tumblr media
He is NOT happy at all. But at least here he looks kind of pouty.
Tumblr media
It's kind of funny XD
"Here. Take my stupid strand of magic hair, just make sure you clean it when you're done. >:("
Tumblr media
"What did you do?"
Yeah, no, he's furious. It's actually scary seeing Sonic like this. I have seen pictures of Sonic in rage mode in the comics and yeah, you can say that Sonic's about to reach his limit, if you know what I'm saying. (btw best moment in the Archie comics hands down)
Tumblr media
Okay, one last image, I PROMISE-
THIS ONE, is my favorite out of all of them. Everything about this shot is just... I... don't even know how to explain how much I love this.
The lighting. The intensity of this whole scene. Sonic's anger. His powers going up to 100.
Yeah, this movie is gonna drive a little crazy. :)
Of course I'm just getting started on my Movie 3 hype rambles lol. Don't want this post to be too long or annoying-
I'm just so happy to see my comfort character back in action. I'm so happy that EVERYBODY'S back! I CAN'T WAIT DUDE!!!

(Enjoy this meme here-)
so the Sonic 3 trailer is out and I decided to go on and make a silly post and a small announcement
I have decided after much debate I will start officially making sonic art NOW KNOW I am new at drawing the sonic artstyle so the characters may look like something out of the shining or something cause I’m getting used to drawing them I done the same with the lmk style until I perfected it
Anyways I decided to ramble my thoughts on the trailer and why I love Sonic
now I am a sonic veteran I have drawn sonic before but when I was way younger but Sonic has stuck by me I remember back in the 2000s I used to watch sonic underground a lot on Netflix that’s how long ago it was I always loved sonic I loved the video games even own some sonic games myself!
my first one was sonic unleashed one of my favorite games I always loved and still love to this day the time where he was a werehog and sometimes I even wish he can go back to werehog sonic and plus it introduced me one of my comfort songs endless possibilities
I got way more into Sonic thanks to the anime Sonic X I didn’t watch the whole series cause it started to get weird but it was how I was introduced to shadow one of my favorite characters
I remember I was so intrigued I tried to find other content and then I found YouTuber named animebromii (who unfortunately is a…well piece of shit to sum it up he was one of those found out to get to close to kids type of YouTubers category but that was found out right after I stopped watching him) I remember his Sonic videos always made me filled with joy and made me love the characters more
although I stop getting into Sonic as fans started to get a little to weird for my taste and such and Sega didn’t know what the fuck they were doing
what rekindle my love for Sonic was well the Sonic movies and as I watch I remembered the joy I had for it and started to slowly get into Sonic again and explore more of it due to being more mature and such I turned out to have well a lot of unpopular opinion that I know will have a mob of angry Sonic fans chasing me with pitchforks
Just Some headcanons and ships I don’t agree on and such even some dislike on how Sega is going about like trying to make sonamy now NOTE I don’t mind sonamy hell as a kid I was one of the people who ship it or more specifically the werehog sonic x Amy (i saw so many AMVs and one of those story shits….you have no idea how much of a huge werehog sonic fan I was) but the reason it makes me uncomfortable cause I found out Sega have gave the group canon ages at one point….
which where Amy is 12 and sonic is 15 NOW I don’t know if this is true I haven’t seen proof and out of all honestly I personally think the ages shouldn’t have been confirmed cause well it feels like to me it fucks up the lore and a lot of ships people love and you could have your own headcanons and such for their ages and to me Sonic doesn’t feel like he is 15 to me like hell when I was younger I thought he was ALEAST 18 or 16
There is only few ships I feel comfortable with that is Elise x sonic and sonia x knuckles
now admittedly yes I maybe not the biggest Sonic fan I haven’t read any of the comics i haven’t played all the games hell sometimes I don’t know half of the characters sometimes but still I love Sonic with all my heart and I hope you guys enjoy this little adventure of mine of Sonic the hedgehog

I'm gonna be honest here:
The Mario movie actually looks really nice. Despite Illumination being known for the somewhat cheap animation it's got (which isn't necessarily bad mind you) you can tell that the studio actually put a lot of effort into the movie just from the trailer alone. You can see the difference in their budget and the passion that the animators have in just the two minutes alone like I was shocked.
The VAing is surprisingly good! Jack Black as Bowser threw me for a loop because I didn't even recognize him! It was only after he'd did the little chuckle and said:
"I do not."
That I caught his voice and realized that it was him. He's done an incredible job with the character and I can't wait to see him in the movie!!!
Chris Pratt on the other hand......
Look I don't know the actor very well other than he's in the Marvel and Jurassic World trilogy but as soon as I heard him talk and say:
"What is this place?"
I couldn't help but feel like he just.....didn't care about his role. It felt like it wasn't Mario at all. Even my mom who's not a fan of video games and only knows the basics of them due to me and my siblings talking to her about, had said that he just wasn't Mario and the voice didn't fit the character. (She also said the same thing when the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer was released and she saw his first design before it was fixed. She literally took one look and said "That's not Sonic.")
Like that says a lot.
Personally I think if Chris Pratt wants to make this work he'd actually have to put a little bit of effort into his role. Or else it just won't really work. That or the studio and Nintendo get a new VA who's more excited to voice Mario.
But other than the voice for our favorite red Italian plumber I gotta say that everything else looks and sounds really good!!! The scenery is phenomenal and stunning and colorful just like the video games and the character's designs look so good and well done!! Honestly kinda excited to see what the movies like when it comes out next year!!! (They better not massacre my boys because like Sonic they deserve some respect as well).
Anyways those are my personal thoughts.

Do you think there might be some problems that could develop with SAGE showcasing indie games? SAGE was created as an event for the Sonic fandom to make fan games, but now indie games have become part of it. Nothing against it on principle, but what about the legal area? SAGE is still tied to Sonic's image, would it count as using Sonic to sell other products? Or would it be a Chip 'n Dale's Movie Sonic case?
Top comment on the showcase trailer video:
Tumblr media
If there were problems, Sega would be the ones causing them, and that's the official Sonic brand account giving their sign of approval.
SAGE was created, speaking as the creator of SAGE here, to demystify fangaming and show the world it had a positive effect on the world. Fangames were seen as illegal bootlegs when I started the event, and I sought to change that perception.
Now, yes, generally speaking, I think if you're trying to stay on the up and up, disconnecting your fangame from commercial promotion as much as humanly possible is the best way to keep your nose clean. Don't run ads on your website, don't run ads on gameplay footage, DEFINITELY do not in any way even LOOK at crowdfunding or paying employees. Stay away from any and all money I/O. Which is very difficult if not impossible because even hosting a website means you are exchanging money with someone in order to distribute your game.
So you have to decide an acceptable level to compromise your morals if you hope to put your game out there, and how much risk that creates for you depends on the company in question, I guess.
Hosting your game on Itch.io? Well, as long as you create a standalone account separate from any real monetized game creation you plan on doing, that might be okay. They don't run ads on Itch.io that I know about.
Hosting your game on Game Jolt? Slightly more risky, because Game Jolt serves ads on their download page.
Mediafire? More risky, because I feel like Mediafire shows extra invasive ads, including, last I heard, those ads that have fake download buttons on them. So not only is Mediafire making money, they are engaging in active deception.
Hosting it on a Patreon? Way more risky. Even if you have the post set to $0, you are bringing people to a page where they can give you money for your services.
I technically do this with some of my very old game projects, but none of those are anywhere close to finished games, and they are all almost universally just fragments of unimportant side projects. For example, I do not have builds of TFH up there, or MarioWeen. It's mostly just software I started and did not finish, mixed in with a couple of like, early alpha engine tests if I remember right.
I've also thought about just straight up taking them down and hosting them somewhere else (the itch.io archive might be my best bet, or even archive.org). It does make me uncomfortable to have them up there, but it was a stable, clean place to host things like that when I first launched that Patreon, like, what, 8 years ago? Now they're buried at the very very very bottom of my post list and I'm probably the only person who remembers that they're there.
Anyway, if it was a problem, I think Sega would let us know. And I say "let us know" instead of, say, just stomping their boot all over SAGE and killing it without recourse. I think, given what a positive force it is not just in the community, but in the indie gaming space, if it was a problem, they could talk it out with whoever is running the show that year.
But this is a place to cultivate future game developers. It is good for the game industry. And I've said it here, or maybe other places, but I've often wondered if Steam's multiple demo events they host every year was inspired by something like SAGE. It's kind of become a big deal, and it keeps growing to be a bigger deal every year, and at least so far, nobody's abused or exploited it yet.
Not that they even could -- SAGE is curated. Not a lot, but enough that I know there were booths rejected for 2024. You can be, and people have been, kicked out of SAGE for being abusive. Participating in SAGE is a privilege, not a public service.
So I think everything will be fine.

So a while back, I decided to make a spreadsheet listing all of the franchises/series/properties/etc. that I have a special attachment to, along with specific elements/aspects that I particularly enjoy in the media I consume, in order to see if there was any one variable all of them had in common.
It ended up looking like this:
Tumblr media
I added the year I got interested in each property as well, and it’s been funny to see the progression - you can see how it starts with the movies my parents showed me at the beginning, then the video games my friends introduced me to (or that I fortuitously found out about after skipping vacation bible school one day but the full version of that story is for another time), then my special interests growing out of a mix of those...then that little stretch in 2020-2021 where I started dipping my toes into things out of morbid curiosity and getting genuinely invested in them whoops
Anyway, I wanted to share this in case anyone else is interested in creating something like this. I think it’d be so fun to see what other people consider to be the most appealing aspects of the things they’re into, as well as how their tastes evolved over time!
(Zoomed in versions of the spreadsheet under the cut for easy reading, as well as abbreviated explanations of how I got into everything on this list, if you’re interested.)
Tumblr media
Jurassic Park - I was obsessed with dinosaurs as a kid. My parents were like, “Hmm, she might like this - we’ll just make her cover her eyes for the scene where the T-rex eats that guy off of the toilet.”
Star Wars - Parents bought me Lego Star Wars for the Wii because THEY liked Star Wars but I had no clue what was going on, walked in on them watching Episode V and they let me stick around
Pokémon - All my closest friends were into it but I wasn’t allowed to play until finally my parents caved and let me get a DS and a copy of Platinum. Easily the franchise I am the most invested in ahaha
Sonic - Went to the phone store with my mom and they had a mobile version of Sonic 2 on one of the demo phones. Went home and got it on virtual console, literally defined how I play video games now
Mega Man - Picked up a copy of Nintendo Power (RIP) because it had Mewtwo on the cover. Featured character was Zero. His design activated all the neurons in my brain so I read everything I could about him and eventually got into the games, and now Mega Man characters own the deed to my house and my firstborn child
FNAF - Friend showed me a video of a playthrough at my parents’ 25th wedding anniversary. Scared the pants off of me. Couldn’t stop watching it.
Alien/Aliens - The Great Movie Ride at Disney, but specifically the waiting room where they play the trailers for the movies (I closed my eyes during the actual Alien section of the ride because it freaked me the heck out). That trailer stuck in my brain and one day I just decided I wanted to watch it. I’ve never mentioned them before but I need y’all to understand that these are my favorite movies of all time and I literally wrote a college essay about why they are so good
Tumblr media
Metroid - Saw Samus in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and thought she was super cool. Got an SNES Classic for Christmas and tried out Super Metroid...instantly hooked. One of the most amazing games in the universe you guys
The Thing - Dad was like, “Oh yeah I watched that in theaters when I was 12 it’s great let’s watch it.” I couldn’t look my own dog in the eyes for three days.
Terminator - Wanted to check out more 80′s sci-fi. Plus Michael Biehn. Love Michael Biehn.
Twilight - Me and a close friend (neither of whom had grown up reading these) decided to watch the first one as a joke. Got invested. Ended up watching them all. Now I write Mega Man/Twilight fanfiction. Beware what you do ironically, folks.
Homestuck - Was vaguely aware of it for years but (like most people) had no clue what it was about until the Sarah Z video. Decided to give it a try.
It checks almost every single box on this spreadsheet, so...there’s my defense for that, I guess.
The Locked Tomb - Everybody kept posting weird things about this book series and it sounded too crazy NOT to read
Subnautica - I love the ocean. I love space. I love aliens. I couldn’t get a copy of Pokémon Violet at Wal-Mart and wanted something new to play and it happened to be on the shelf.

other assorted thoughts on the mario movie trailer:
as for mario himself.....eh. idc abt crisp rats voice for him its so generic. i like his character model tho.
i like how the penguins r the ones from mario 64. i love those guys :)
kameks voice is great!!! rly fits him :)
the toad voice is surprisingly rly good??? i was unsure if they were gonna give him an obnoxiously high voice or just make him sound like a normal dude, but this is actually a rly good compromise!!
the animation and settings are absolutely gorgeous!!!
i already talked abt how much i LOVE bowser but can we SERIOUSLY appreciate bowser???? like???? i love how the bowser voice isnt just jack black being himself, hes actually doing a more intimidating voice for him goddddd i love bowser so much!!!!
overall i was pleasantly surprised for the most part. again the biggest downside was ofc crisp rat as mario but like come on we all knew it was gonna be underwhelming. anyway i was just talking to my gf abt how i hoped the movie would be bad but now i have a slightly more positive but still VERY cautious opinion. obvs im still wary bc its illumination BUT this trailer is admittedly a LOT better than i thought it was gonna be. but it still wont clear the sonic movies bc those are epic

I wanna talk Nintendo Direct but I don’t wanna come across any more Direct-related leaks (apparently Among Us got leaked but I thought that was on the platform already?)
My personal predictions:
- an update on Metroid Prime 4 (probably the ‘one more thing’ this time - it’s probably gonna be crossgen)
- Splatoon 3 Final Fest, or at least the next Splatfest if not that (how have the youtubers I watch not thought of this?)
- Fitness Boxing Miku news
- Maybe replaying that recent Sonic X Shadow Generations trailer (50/50 chance)
- Mario Party (possibly crossgen?)
Suggestions I’ve seen some of the Youtubers I watch - and their commenters - make:
- 2D Zelda (either a new title or a remake - Capcom’s Oracle games and Minish Cap are the oldest titles to not yet have received either a remaster or remake, so it could be one of those)
- Arlo specifically mentioned wanting a Super Metroid remake in Dread’s engine, and although realistically I think that one’s unlikely, I know MercurySteam have been wanting to do it since they first started developing Metroid games, so it’s not impossible. It’s the next Metroid game on the ‘remake’ chopping block anyway
- Mario sports title (GettingMadz suggests baseball or basketball, since those are currently absent from the Switch)
- 2D Donkey Kong. Probably not a Country though, since Retro Studios seem to have a lot on their plate with Prime 4 (although if they were developing both simultaneously, it’d explain why the latter’s been a bit sluggish in that regard). I feel like the series has had more eyes on it since the Super Mario Bros Movie came out, and there hasn’t been a new game since Tropical Freeze (does MvDK count if it’s a successor to DK94?)
Suggestions I’ve seen around the place but am personally a bit skeptical on:
- a Kid Icarus game. I haven’t played Uprising, but I know the control scheme is pretty reliant on the 3DS’s hardware, so it’d be a pain in the ass to port to Switch. I’d say that it’d be better to just make a fourth game, but at this point it can be held off for the Switch’s successor.
- a third Tomodachi game (or fourth if you count Miitomo). As much as I love Tomodachi Life, and think it would be a fitting swan song for the Miis, I don’t think it’s gonna happen at this stage ;-;
- ports of the Wii U’s Zelda remasters. It’s been almost 8 years, if they were gonna happen they would’ve done it already (probably alongside Skyward Sword HD). Just give up on these games coming to Switch.
- Xenoblade Chronicles X port. Although it’s the last Wii U original that’s apparently worth a damn, it struggled to run on that system without a now-inaccessible patch, and running it on the Switch would bring similar results (I mean, BotW runs into major framerate issues occasionally, and that was a launch game!). I’m confident in saying they’ve always been saving this port for the Switch successor.
- a 3D Mario game. They just released a definitively mainline Super Mario game last year with Wonder, but although it’s not unheard of to release two mainline games with different gameplay styles for the same system within a year of each other (NSMBWii/Galaxy 2, NSMBU/3D World), there’s no point in doing that when the system is on its deathbed. I’d say they’re saving it for the Switch successor’s launch, if not later - mainline Mario is a system seller after all.

March channel and video progress update
So in January I said I wanted to make monthly channel updates…. And then I immediately didn’t make one in February lol.
It was because I was just working on the same TDI video I said I was working on in January and it felt pointless giving an update when there wasn’t much to report.
But now it’s been TWO months and… I’m still working on the same video but I’ll give an update about it this time!
TDI 2024 review: I finished the script and am now in the process of editing all the audio I recorded! Which is taking a while because the raw recording was around 3 hours and it’s going to be edited down to less than an hour lol
(I have to retake a lot of line reads and pause the recording whenever there’s a lot of background noise)
Editing the audio is always the worst part for me because the audio always sounds bad and I’m so self conscious about it. Also I recorded alot of it during the day so you can hear bird tweets in the background alot. Hopefully people will just think that’s nice lol.
Anyway still not sure what the total length of the video will be but I’m suspecting around 55 minutes.
Also I structured the video similarly to the first video where I have dedicated chapters to all the characters of note. In the first video there were five characters who didn’t get a chapter because they left early and I didn’t have much to say about them. But this time round there are only 3 characters that don’t get a dedicated chapter but all three are ones that actually made it to the merge!
The first is Axel who didn’t get one because I just say everything I need to about her in the Ripper chapter. The next is Raj because i say everything I need to about him in the Bowie and Wayne chapters. And the last one is, surprisingly, Julia. Not because I have nothing to say about her, but because I talk about her a lot in like 5 other chapters that there was no need to give her a dedicated chapter lol
Anyways as for the predicted release date: Maybe Late April but more likely some time in May
Sonic 3 movie bingo: I haven’t done any more work on this since I’ve just been focusing on the TDI video, but just thought I’d mention it’s still happening.
It’s funny, like a couple days after I made my January update about they released a bunch of news about the movie including the cast and a trailer for the Knuckles show. The cast doesn’t really affect my bingo predictions that much since I didn’t speculate on that (I guess now I could speculate on what roles they’ll have)
The show probably will because Wade is apparently going to be a prominent character and I actually did have a prediction about what they would do with him in the movie lol
As for the predicted release date: I guess either June or July
Other projects: I said last time that I had a bunch of other ideas for projects but didn’t want to say what they were since it would be months since it would be months until I would get to them.
And now I’m not feeling those projects as much and have ideas for a bunch of different projects I’d rather do! But I’m sure by the time I get round to be able to do them I’ll no longer feel like doing those projects and would have had ideas for different projects I could do.
So that’s basically why it’s not worth saying what they are until it’s time to do them 😂
Anyways see you for the April update where I’ll hopefully be close to finishing the TDI video! Maybe I’ll have finished already, that’s being hopeful lol

"You forgot one; Unstoppable."
Alright, there's something about Sonic I need to get off my chest.
First, there's the movie sequel, which we've been waiting for since the post credit scene of Tails in first film. And this movie was absolutely incredible! I still haven't gotten out of the hype, the Wachowski boys live in my head rent free, I am unable to stop imagining scenario after funny or fluffy scenario and shenanigans. And there are so many retro easter eggs from every media of this franchise (so many in the climax alone, Knuckles jumping back off the Tornado, that light tap from '06, catching the giant robot's punch from Sonic X, Enerjak vibes from Archie comics during Master Emerald's origin story, the air bubble from underwater levels of Sonic Rush, that water slide in the last temple, the drowning scene paralleling first episode of Sonic X, all the classic traps, the same expression and flailing in "I can't swim!" as first episode of Sonic Boom, Fleetway vibes when they had us worried in the first half of that one scene, the snowboarding, Tails' Zeti Zappers from IDW, and so much more!) And don't even get me started on how well the mobian characters were done and finally, that mid credit scene. It wasn't exaggerated that those who weren't STH fans also know this beloved character. My best friend isn't a fan, she didn't even care much about this franchise before the second movie and doesn't know any lore but she also knows Shadow.
Then, while still in the hype of the sequel, there was already a teaser trailer of Sonic Prime released recently along with Sonic Origins trailer and the hype increased ten-fold, again. And I suspect that Issue #50 of IDW will be coming out on his 31st Anniversary so there's that too.
Anyways, all that Sonic content aside, but now even Disney has placed his 2019 trailer version in their movie.
Hear me out for a second.
First, I got upset at learning that version was featured in the film and trending, but then I gave it a little thought and went, "Oh. Oooohhhh! So that's what happened. Are they really that angry at our beloved blue hedgehog now? Oh, boy. XD" Now I'm laughing at the implications of why they placed him in one of their live action films, and in that particular form too. This afternoon, I told my Mom about it in these exact words, "Mom, guess what. Disney added the 2019 trailer version of Sonic in their recent-most live action movie and that one scene with 'Ugly Sonic' is now trending the most." She chuckled so hard at the irony, saying something along the lines of, 'Never thought this time would fall on them.'
Now, no offense to Disney or Chip n Dale fans ofcourse since this is purely from the point of view of a Sonic fan who saw her favorite character portrayed like that after his own movie was a block buster hit, it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots.
Remember those memes and posts Sonic fans were posting before Sonic 2 movie was released? The ones which said something like how we don't even care at this point if the movie is silly or childish or whatever, we want this hedgehog to break records. To make Disney and Marvel and Nintendo nervous, to make the other companies trip over their own feet trying to catch up to a speedy hedgehog fighting Jim Carry. And many other similar memes. Well, that's exactly what's happening and 2019 Sonic appearing in a freaking Disney movie like that just confirms it.
The hedgehog truly is unstoppable this year and I love it!

My thoughts on Sonic 2
YOOOOOOOOOO I just got out of my first viewing of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (cuz we got it early in Germany) and I wanted to share my thoughts fresh of the press and piping hot.
(Don’t worry, I put all the spoilers below the thingie.)
One thing I can say without spoiling anything: I laughed when I saw the three posters in the theater. (translation as follows)
Knuckles: 2 times as strong
Sonic: 2 times as fast
Tails: 2 times as fluffy
Also, there is no second post credit scene. But the movie was such a blast that you’ll probably sit through them anyway just in sheer awe of what you have just witnessed.
- Nice how they made a new Paramount ring logo rather than just reusing the one from the first film
- Clever way of showing Eggman’s ingenuity with his Rube Goldberg utilities and traps.
- Applause for that Shiitake joke.
- How much you wanna bet that those obvious humans in silly suits, who are apparently pals of Knuckles, will receive zero context or explanation? *TWO HOURS LATER* Yep, just as I thought.
- They actually referenced Da Wae, Jeff Fowler you madlad
- More scenes of Sonic’s room are always a good thing
- More Sanic and fart jokes *insert George Takei Oh my here*
- Times they could have used the drowning music but didn’t #1
- So Longclaw really did die... that’s sad.
- Nice reworking of an innocuous detail from the first film into a plot point
- UPTOWN FUNK LET’S GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!11111111
- Sonic made the dance scene good, great and awesome, and then Tails made it outstanding and amazing.
- One of the very few criticisms I have with this movie is the beginning feeling a tad rushed. Like, it would have been nice to see a flashback to Tails being bullied and feeling like a lonely freak rather than just having him tell us this. I suppose the comic tie in is supposed to fill in the gaps, but it’s most likely not going to be released here.
- Also, Tails canonically watches Sonic as he bathes.
- I’ll say it now, the cabin scene is my favourite in the entire movie.
- “Kids, there’s nothing more cool then being hugged by someone you like. But if someone tries to touch you in a place or in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, that’s no good.”
- With just one word, heck not even really a word, Knuckles manages to make Jim Carrey Eggman look like a bore by comparison.
- Knuckles’ father here was a better dad in one scene than Locke was throughout Penders’ entire run.
- Sonic has the most Gen Z energy I’ve ever seen.
- GUN are total shits.
- Tails wins by doing absolutely nothing.
- Didn’t this film have a hedgehog in it? I could have sworn- oh there he is.
- Sonic is Jesus now.
- Times they could have used the tunes of concentrated anxiety but didn’t #2
- For a movie called Sonic Vs Knuckles in Japan there wasn’t as much bad blood between them as I thought.
- Times they could have made Honest Trailers’ prediction come true but didn’t #3
- Sonknux shippers are going to meem this scene to heck I just know it.
- Knuckles yeets himself into oblivion.
- Stone continues to be a simp.
- Nice trick with the missile Sonic.
- ♫ Sonic Heroes! Sonic Heroes! ♫
- The return of the dance off! YAAASSSSSS!!!!
- If I had a euro for every time Robotnik has turned himself into a god and Knuckles was the one who took that power away from him I’d have three euro. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened thrice.
- OMG, the Chaos Emeralds are so TINY!
- Wait are they actually... Yo, Super Sonic looks incredible!
- As a huge Sonic the Comic fangirl, that bait and switch they pulled was one of the most hilarious things I’ve ever seen.
- “You finally had all seven Chaos Emeralds together, and you threw them away?!” “Exactly!” “Eh, that’s fair.”
- I take back what I said before, I'm having a hard time if I like this scene or the cabin scene more.
- SONIC CALLED TOM DAD I CANT EVEN
- Nice callback to the baseball scene from the first movie. Great to see how much this boy has grown.
- Idris Elba wasn’t lying when he said the Knuckles ice cream scene was great.
- This movie in general has some of the funniest lines I’ve ever seen.
- I love the updated classic sonic sprite with the blue arms. It looks so good.
- Shadow being the one to be featured in the post credit scene didn’t surprise me. I’d already been spoiled on the fact that another Sonic charecter was featured in it, and he, Amy and Metal Sonic were the only candidates I could think of.
- Doesn’t this raise some plot holes with the events of the first movie? Because Commander Walters says he knows about Project Shadow, yet he had no clue what was going on when Sonic caused that EMP with his chaos energy.
- Shadow looks really cool though.
- I’m wondering how the 16 bit credits in the third movie are going to work, because unlike Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, he doesn’t have a classic form and his design is a bit too complex for that.
- Wondering how they’ll adapt his mess of a backstory.
- Also, it’s so obvious that he wasn’t given any lines so that could leave it a surprise as to who will voice him.
So in summary: I’ve found my new favourite movie.

You can totally pass this ask if you're not in the right headspace for it, but what are your thoughts on the Rescue Rangers Movie, anyways?
I KNOW your sona is from the original RR, but I was just curious
Rant warning I guess? And spoilers??
Well, for starters, I didn’t watch the movie, or do I plan to in the future, so my opinions might be a bit well, opinionated. They say don’t judge a book by its cover, but every trailer or clips I seen of the movie, it just makes me nauseous. Like when I first saw the trailer, it felt all over the place. Like it didn’t have an identity. I know some folks say it’s a Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel, but I don’t see it. Sure Roger makes an appearance, and it’s nice to see him animated again, but as someone who adores the Who Framed Roger Rabbit movie, and it being my favorite movie of all time, it’s kinda irritating to see the Rescue Rangers movie being called a sequel as it’s not even in the same ballpark as WFRR. Sure it’s a cartoon/live action hybrid where toon’s and humans live together, and heck, I love those types of stories! But this looks and felt more like here’s copyright characters you recognize that’s being thrown at you constantly to only pleased your nostalgic. And while having nostalgia for something is good and fun, and Roger Rabbit did this too, but seeing Flounder from the little mermaid kidnapped and strapped to a table as meta humor is kinda sick to watch. Or maybe I’m just sensitive, who knows. And of course the Bobby Driscoll/ Peter Pan situation. Out of all the characters to make a villain, why him? Why make his backstory DISTASTEFULLY similar to the voice actor? Why pick a character that is WELL KNOWN to not grown up only to grow up in the movie as a throw away child actor joke? No other toon ages. Even one of the lost boys makes an appearance and he’s still young?? It makes no sense. Before the movie was released there was a rumor that Pluto the dog was going to be the villain and Peter Pan was a fake Peter, which would’ve made more sense, but no. And why choose Chip and Dale when they clearly could’ve made a Roger Rabbit sequel, or maybe making it about Bonkers the Bobcat since it had a similar premise? Overall Chip and Dale the characters just look and feel out of place. And when a ugly version of Sonic the Hedgehog is more popular then your two main characters of the movie, well, that’s saying a lot.

Crazy how it’s been half a year already, ain’t it?
Anyway, heres something I’ve been planning on doing for a while: a consumed media tier list
Basically, I rank everything I’ve watched/experienced for the first time over the last 6 months, with evaluations at the end
Tumblr media
Assassins Creed Ezio Collection: legitimately one of the best games I’ve ever played. 10/10, F to the legend Ezio
Dragon Ball Z Abridged: now talk about funny! It’s not just at the top of this list, but also Popo’s Pecking order
The Cuphead Show: Cuphead is basically the embodiment of “good things come to those who wait”
Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Introspecktive was right; Kirby look good. And Kirby good
Peacemaker: solid experience. John Cena was perfectly cast as this lovable loon
Goblin Slayer Abridged: this feels like the middle ground between the writing styles of TeamFourStar and Something Witty Entertainment. I love it
Moon Knight: well THAT was trippy, yet cool
Sonic 2 Movie: while I think I prefer the first more, I still liked that a lot. (Really hope to see Metal Sonic in the threequel)
Obi-Wan Kenobi: I don’t care what others say, I liked that. And if you want to come at me over it, Don’t try it! I have the high ground!
Akira: well that was ANOTHER trip. Except less “whoah...” and more “EEEWWW!”
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: raise your hand if you thought there would be more connections to What If than there were due to the trailers✋
The Batman: you know that one Family Guy clip where the Griffins are trapped in a flooding elevator and Peter confesses that he did not care for The Godfather? That’s kinda what talking about this movie is like for me
The Book of Life: I only saw this because of my mythology class. ‘‘Twas alright
Scott Pilgrim vs the World the Movie: neat. Not much else I can say
RWBY: I’ll be honest, I stopped after volume 4 and dare not go any further. And from what I’ve heard, I’ve made a good descision
The Book of Boba Fett: in the words of Saitama “...Okay...”
Reborn!: I tried to watch this one, but I bailed after the first 8 episodes. This almost put me faster to sleep than Solitude in E-Minor
There were a few other things I saw in school this year, like Castaway and 3 Celtic movies that I can’t remember the names of, but I didn’t include those as I was barely paying attention to them in the first place

Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021) Review
Tumblr media
It all started with Sonic’s teeth. Ever since fans successfully bullied a studio into reanimating their titular hedgehog character after the abomination shown in the first trailer, fans realised that rallying together (on Twitter) can make a difference. So you’d think it would mean we could all come together to restore world peace and get rid of racism, injustice, poverty, war and negativity of all kind? Nope, nope it does not. But at least we get a better version of a bad DC movie that came out in 2017. I mean, baby steps I guess.
Plot: Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash -- it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
I recall my younger simpler self in 2017 at the early age of 20 soon to be 21, sitting down and watching the new Justice League film with zero to no expectations, as by that point the DC Extended Universe was a trainwreck and was a franchise that was literally falling apart before out unblinking red hay fever filled eyes. However, after watching Justice League I was baffled at the fact that I still managed to be disappointed after having zero expectations! With zero expectations this film took me into the minuses, and we all know I’m not great at mathematics so boy are we in the danger zone when we hit the minuses! Looking back at my review of the film back then, I used extreme yet fitting comments like “generic”, “predictable” “messy” and plain “dogsh*t”. Which is what it was. 2017′s Justice League is exactly how I’d imagine a dog’s poop would look if it was turned into an abstract film! It was truly abysmal. After that I thought I’d never have to talk about this film again. How wrong I was. But, in a rare turn of tables, I am glad that I was wrong...
A little history lesson first. Alright, settle down kids, settle down.... Rob, put the paper plane down, do not throw it, I said DON’T THROW IT! NO! Stop! Stupid child!! Headteacher’s office right now! Also, say hi to your mother for me, okay? I’m having brunch with her on Saturday and you better not be there as you should be doing your homework watching the 4 hour cut of Justice League and questioning your life choices!! Anyway, now let’s have ourselves a history lesson. The topic is - What In The Flying Fudge Happened Behind-The-Scenes Of Justice League For DUMMIES: Condensed Edition. A really condensed version as honestly none of us have the attention span to read loads and I’m probably losing the vast majority of you due to this overlong rambling session. So anyway, to the last couple of readers left, here we go! Following the success of Man of Steel, Warner Bros. gave Zack Snyder the reigns to oversee and create a DC cinematic universe to rival the success of Marvel. And so came Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, which turned out to be a bit of a hodgepodge, receiving mixed to negative reviews and though was a box office success, earned diminishing results to what Warner Bros. originally anticipated. However, by the time Batman V Superman released, Zack Snyder was already hard at work on the big superhero team up film Justice League (which was meant to set up many characters and future films for the DCEU) with a lot of filming already underway, so Warner Bros. couldn’t particularly pump the breaks on it by that point, even though they evidently lost trust in the Snyder formula. To be honest, at that point I too lost trust in Snyder’s vision and the DCEU as a whole, but my opinion doesn’t class for a single dime, whilst the opinions of Warner Bros. executives make millions, so there aren’t any hard feelings on my behalf for them not enquiring on my thoughts. Anyway, midway through production Zack Snyder was hit with a family tragedy with his daughter committing suicide, so Snyder naturally had to depart the project to be with his family during this grieving time. Warner Bros. had the option to pause production and await for Snyder’s return, or progress at their own accord. Naturally they decided to do their own thing cause they are a business and want that dollar dollar bill baby!! So they hired Joss Whedon who was riding fresh off the success of two Avengers movies and obviously had experience in cinematic universes and such, to rework the Justice League movie by condensing it into a 2 hour film (from the over 4 hour material that Snyder shot) and reshoot scenes to fit the smaller runtime. So you cannot particularly blame Whedon for taking out so many great scenes as he had a contract to fulfil with Warner Bros, but then you look at the many forced jokes and unnecessary reshot scenes and you realise how self-indulgent Joss Whedon was during filming, as he basically was spitting on everything Snyder did and was trying to do his own thing. Low and behold, the mess that is the 2017 movie is created, where its the visions and creative minds of two director with evidently different styles clashing and not really mixing well at all, and as such we have a messy movie that doesn’t really make sense and is a bit of a middle finger to DC fans and honestly everyone and all. Also, there was that little aspect of Henry Cavill’s deformed upper lip due to the fact that during reshoots he had a moustache that he’d grown and was contractually obligated to have for his Mission Impossible role, so the visual effects team had to digitally remove it in post production and the result is, well, see for yourself...
Tumblr media
Yes, they made the dashing handsome my-sexuality-questioning Henry Cavill look stupid, and that is UNFORGIVABLE. Funny, yes, very funny but unforgivable!! So for this and many other reasons the 2017 film turned out horribly. Then after that many months later, Zack Snyder and cast and crew members began teasing of this mythical version of the movie that was befit of Snyder’s original vision. You see, apparently before he left the project, Snyder actually filmed everything he wanted and it was only awaiting to be reworked with visual effects and edited properly, but then Whedon came in with his scissors and cut everything mercilessly with a cheeky grin and his ginger beard. Speaking of his ginger beard, is Joss Whedon Irish? Or has Irish roots? Honestly, I would Google it, but wait, I don’t think I really care. So anyway, Snyder still had all of his filmed scenes saved on his ridiculously oversized hard drive just waiting to be looked at again. This is where the fandom did its magic by creating a Twitter hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut and began spam posting for Warner Bros. to let Zack Snyder release what he originally intended to. Honestly, who would have thunk it, but this actually worked!! Warner Bros. allowed this, and not only that, but gave Snyder an additional $70 million to finish up the visual effects as well as to film a couple of additional sequences and gave it the prestigious honour to debut it on HBO Max, so as to boost the subscriber rating on Warner Bros. new streaming service. And here we are.
Honestly, I thought seeing this Director’s Cut of sorts wouldn’t bring much to the table as I didn’t believe that a film that was so broken had originally been in any way good. After finishing this 4 hour Snyder vision I must admit though that I was pleasantly surprised. Completely baffled by the studio and Joss Whedon, but really happy for Zack Snyder. The guy was fighting for it and finally was able to accomplish and bring out his true original vision, and though Zack Snyder’s Justice League has its flaws, its so much better than what we got in 2017, and in fact is a soaring science fiction sci-fi epic that literally feels epic!! It takes time establishing the characters and every single plot point as well as building out this rich mythology of this world of the DC Extended Universe, and so as you move into the second half of the film, there’s a feeling of pay off. You actually care about the characters and understand the plot points and it doesn’t feel rushed. Its truly astounding that there are producers out there who thought it was a good idea to get rid of all of that and instead bring out whatever the heck Joss Whedon did with the 2017 version. Look, I quite enjoy Joss Whedon’s work, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel to Cabin in the Woods and his work on Marvel, the guy obviously has a talent, but also he obviously does not belong to the dark and brooding style of DC. Zack Snyder on the other hand, though makes his mistakes, truly embraces the epic feel of the DC material. And it seems once you give Snyder enough time and space, he can actually bring out something like this:
Tumblr media
The main characters are all given so much more to do, or at least those that got side-lined in the 2017 version are given more to do here. One of my complaints with the original was how pointless the League turns out to be. Basically in the theatrical version the main team all end up being useless and only once Superman shows up he saves everyone’s asses and literally does EVERYTHING. Might as well have called the film Man of Steel 2 (feat. Justice League). However in this new version, every main character serves a purpose. Well most of them do at least. Cyborg and Flash are much more compelling characters with more layers and backstory, and in fact are a prime reason to defeating the great evil in the end. You now understand why Cyborg actor Ray Fisher was pissed at Joss Whedon, as the guy literally got rid of his best stuff. Superman strikes a cool black suit and is still powerful, however as the finale shows, he isn’t all-powerful and does need the help of the rest of the team. Wonder Woman gets a lot more to do in this theatrical cut, and in fact this is probably Gal Gadot’s best performance as Wonder Woman and she really shows herself as a powerful female superhero! Aquaman’s role stays largely unchanged, however to be honest Jason Momoa’s character was one of the only ones who didn’t suffer in the theatrical cut. That’s unsurprising seeing as Jason Momoa is such a naturally cool dude! A big panda that is friendly in real life, but when necessary can turn into a roaring bear. To be honest, the only League member that ends up a bit pointless is actually Batman. He still serves a purpose in the film in that he’s the one who assembles the team, but otherwise the rest of the group is so overpowered compared to him that in the end you do kind of think that he doesn’t really belong there. Still, Ben Affleck is great in the role and it’s a shame we won’t see much of him past Flashpoint film that will be released in the next few years.
There are a lot of characters in this film and one can still say the movie is overstuffed, but also seeing as the movie was originally intended to spring board the DCEU properly, all these teases are actually welcome. There are an abundance of cameos, and to be honest so many characters are so well cast that you do end up wishing that Snyder was given the opportunity to make his entire Justice League planned trilogy, but nevertheless at least we have this. There are truly an abundance of cool appearances here, from the menacing villain Darkseid (played by Ray Porter) to Willem Dafoe doing what Dafoe does best, only in this case underwater and I’m certain that’s gonna span many comparison memes with The Lighthouse. Joe Morton as Cyborg’s dad is given a lot more to do here and in fact is pivotal towards building up Cyborg into the important character that he is. There’s also a cameo from Jared Leto’s Joker, who in some ways redeems himself after his appearance in Suicide Squad. Also, we need to talk about Steppenwolf, who’s the main baddie in this film. In the theatrical cut the guy was the most generic one-note villain who also looked like a PS2 character. It was honestly embarrassing the way he was animated. Luckily in this version he’s been put through enough Skyrim mods to looks much more intimidating and is also given a better motivation. As we find out, the reason he does what he does is because he wants to go home. He’s been banished and he simply wants to earn his place back home, so it’s actually kind of sweet. Steppenwolf is a sweetie. I mean, yeah, he wants to destroy half of the world to fulfil his dream, but hey, haven’t we all taken something extreme measures to get what we want?
The film is far from perfect though. At the end of the day, the movie is just about a guy hunting down a bunch of magical boxes. That was the premise of the theatrical cut and its the same here too. Yes, there is more substance and gravitas to the proceedings, but at the end of the day the story doesn’t really surprise much. And with the entire thing running at 4 hours, it is definitely too long and there is the element where there is simply too much in this thing. Also visually, though the movie has plenty of gorgeous shots and Zack Snyder’s signature slow motion sequences are on full display here, there are still many sequences where the CGI and green screen are super obvious and look really fake. That being said there’s still so much visual goodness in this, and also I have to mention Junkie XL’s new music score that does reiterate the epic feel of this movie, in comparison to Danny Elfman’s weak uninspiring notes in the theatrical cut.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a massive surprise and completely changes the perception of what we saw in the original 2017 theatrical cut. It’s a sprawling massive adventure that’s a dream come true for any comic book fan. It shows how vital film editing is, and how important it is to have a cohesive plan when making a movie. Gone too are the silly forced jokes, and though there is still some humour here, it feels more grounded and fit of the setting and scenario. This is Snyder’s vision through and through, and though at times it is clunky, it overall is incredible to behold, as it’s this one guy’s mind and his love for the DC lore. It’s a credible achievement, and I’m actually sentimentally happy for Snyder that he finally managed to complete this. He even during the credits dedicates this to his daughter Autumn that passed away, and I found that to be truly bittersweet. Justice has indeed been served.
Overall score: 7/10

here's my ask! Jotaro (part 3 pls!) seeing the reader walking through the halls at school and realizing he's been in love with them~ kinda like those movie scenes where he feels as though time slows down while they walk past with friends, laughing about their own conversation~ ^^ and I was so excited for the sonic trailer when I was at the movies, but they played the old one and my mood went sour lololol
jotaro x s/o post SDC
ah, thank you so much for requesting me! i really like getting these plots, so if anyone has anymore for me to write, i’d love see and receive them. if anon is off, i can try to figure out how to turn it on with mobile, but i’m not really sure so far. sorry if this is too short for you! i didn’t really know what to write for this. at least, not too much.
also, the sonic movie is so good! definetly recommend to people who liked/still like sonic. i really liked it! if you have the time, definitely go watch it.
@peachpunkbitch
when all is said and done, the adventure is finally over. the crusader’s long trip to egypt is done. you’re honestly a bit terrified, exhausted, and mourning the deaths of the people you cared for. after all, they were all your friends. kakyoin, avdol, hell, even iggy. you were fairly close to all of them.
jotaro was always by your side after that. you could tell that he was paranoid about whatever was around you. of course, you thought it was just because of the adventure you went on, but it was more than that. he hadn’t realized it yet, but he wanted to be closer to you. emotionally and physically.
you spent most of your school time with him. the girls around you were jealous of your shared time together, how easily you could touch him. whenever you’re trying to reach for his hat, he’ll begrudgingly give it to you, if you’re desperate enough. that really gets the girls jealous. they don’t harrass you over it, however. they know that jotaro would be upset if that happened.
it was while you two were walking, however. the way your hips lightly sway side to side when you walked, the bright smile that curled at your lips. the way your eyes lit up when you talked about whatever you wanted to talk about, even with just him listening, it felt good enough to you. that was when he realized that he had started to fall in love with you.
things for him felt like they were now going in slow motion, not because of his newly gained time stop ability, but because of his ability to process his feelings. too many questions were not swirling in his mind. did he like you like that? did he want to peruse that love? did you like him back like that? why did he even like you in the first place? it was very confusing for him.
he stopped walking, and you happened to notice. when you turned around and gave him a questioning look, you didn’t notice that his face grew red. you did, however, see that he was mumbling “good grief” under his breath before tipping his hat down, walking with you. naively, you continued to talk about whatever you were talking about before.
after you two got to your next class, he had to take the entire class to really think about it. you happened to notice that he wasn’t really paying attention to the class, so you asked if he needed to borrow your notes. he just shook his head, even if he probably did need it, and you two moved onto lunch.
when lunch came around, you sat with him on the school roof. normally, girls would want to talk to him, but they seemed to notice something was off. you also had noticed these emotions, but not bringing it uo was probably for the best.
he didn’t want to sit too close to you, but you ended up scooting right next to him, continuing to talk to him. you were the one who did most of the talking for the both of you. after all, you’re pretty social. if you’re not very social, you’ll sit here in silence and eat together, just comfortable with the presence of jotaro there.
eventually, you start talking to him about your friends who had passed. you brought up memories about them one way or another. after all, you still hadn’t gotten over their deaths, but since you were alone, you might as well mention it. jotaro looked somewhat surprised that you would bring it up, but let you speak about them anyway. many fond memories came to mind. you probably would have cried. after all, that’s a human thing to do. jotaro would have noticed and told you to stop talking, but you couldn’t really help it. eventually, he’d just take off his hat and put it on your head. after all, he isn’t really good at the affection sort of thing. he’s not the best at comfort.
somehow, though, it makes you feel a bit better. when you stop crying and wipe your eyes, you feel the emotions for jotaro you’ve always felt for him. love, admiration, whatever you feel for him. you just feel better around him, even if he isn’t the most emotional. he’s one of your best friends.
when the day ends, you two go to jotaro’s house. arriving there, mrs. kujo (holly) greets his son as normal. you laugh at the affection that she brings to him, which embarrasses him. it’s very cute and funny to watch them interact. she then greets you with a very fond smile and tells you that she’ll bring snacks around. she’s always grateful for you joining her son and making sure that he was safe throughout the mission you went through.
when you two are alone together, you hang out like normal, but you can still tell that something’s on the boy’s mind. you ask him about it, but he just says it’s nothing. it’s not like he’s going to say anything about his realization, that’s much too embarrassing for him.

So I watched the movie
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? It was good! Not a masterpiece by any means, but cute and enjoyable.
I was right about the plot - it’s not a Sonic movie, it’s a movie with Sonic in it. But, much like the games, it was obvious that the writers focused more on the characters than the actual story. Surprisingly, my favorite part was the middle one - the beginning was a little slow and the ending was too fast, but the “road trip” part was the most engaging and funniest one.
Sonic was simply adorable <3 easily one of the cutest iterations of the character since the Classic era. He was much more emotional than the canon version, and even sad, but for most of the time he’s pretty believable as a younger, inexperienced Sonic. But more importanly, I guess the full movie confirms that this Sonic is way more powerful than canon Sonic. Like, at the end, that spectacle of lightning... that looked like something usually reserved for Super Sonic. Holy crap, now I’d love to see the two have a friendly race.
Eggman Robotnik was... well, what I expected from Jim Carrey. He was a nice blend of the good ol’ doctor we know and love and Jim Carrey Carreying it up. I wouldn’t say he carried the movie like many thought (Sonic did, by far), but I bought him as, again, a younger Eggman who still doesn’t know who he’s dealing with. Also he’s super cool with his gloves and holograms, he had so many good shots. (and that dance scene? *chef kiss*)
Surprise surprise, Tom was even better than I hoped for! Which, I admit, wasn’t much. The trailers absolutely did not make him justice, he was legit funny in certain scenes, his character arc was good, and the guy is both strong and smart. After the bar scene, he developed a strong chemistry with Sonic.
As for the minor characters...
Maddie was cool and also a more fleshed-out character than I thought (that cake scene made me laugh), but I wish she interacted with Sonic more - basically she was the Blue Oni to Tom’s Purple Oni to Sonic’s Red Oni.
Agent Stone was okay, his best scene was already spoiled by the trailers (the one where he brings Robotnik coffee) , but ultimately he was so overshadowed by Robotnik, which is a pity.
Longclaw was the most egregious example of They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character I’ve seen in a long time - she was Sonic’s mentor, she sacrificed herself to protect him, she gave him those powerful Rings... and she had maybe 5 lines at best? She wasn’t mentioned again? Does Sonic even remember her, let alone miss her?
The sister-in-law whose name I forgot... why the fuck was she even there? Why does she hate Tom so much? Does she hate white people or policemen or something? I have no idea but that was a waste of a good actress and maybe 5 minutes of movie. (her daughter on the other hand was a cutie and had another of my favorite jokes)
The way the music was used was good too! I know many people loved Boom during the bar fight, but I’m still not over Don’t Stop Me Now and especially Friends. Tunes of Anarchy is my new earwoom! And at the end there was a snippet of the original Green Hill, and I wanted to scream. (although now I wonder why they cut Gotta Go Fast, if they were going to keep Green Hill anyway)
The major negative, aside from the cliché storm that was the plot, some of the jokes... not only they kept the “child in a bag” joke, but that random fart joke just to reference Sonic’s love for chili dogs? Yyyeah...
Also, this only matters to me lol, but the Italian dub was so good! As far as I know, it’s the only version where Sonic kept the save VA as the games, and man, much like Roger Craig Smith, as long as he’s given a decent script he’s pretty convincing as Sonic. But I can’t wait to re-watch it in English to enjoy me some Ben Schwartz.
So overall? 7.5/10. Not very memorable if you’re not a Sonic fan, but the best word I can use is “charming”, which is a far cry from what we all thought this movie was going to be one year ago. Took them almost 30 years, but we finally have a ‘90s Sonic movie!
Also some spoilers down below!
SPOILERS
Sadly I got spoiled the mid-credits scene just before the movie started (some random kid spoiled it to his friends and I was within earshot lmao), but it got me hyped for a sequel! My boy Tails is here! I’m still not used to that design, though, but maybe I will. If Tom and Maddie already adopted Sonic, they sure can adopt his lil bro.
As for Eggman’s ultimate fate... unpopular opinion, but that was almost harsh?
