half baked malevolent au because i havent been able to get this podcast out of my head

So my Wife @mrmcfells-bookshelf and I had a few drinks and had started doing the dumbest Jarthur skits, so without further ado, here is her tipsy Malevolent skit.

“Arthur…”

“Uh- yes? John?”

“The drink you’re holding..it’s pink, the liquid where they float around- the strawberries. It’s got strawberries in, they’re red, succulent, with dark green leaves on the top…can I touch them?”

“The strawberries?”

“Yes.”

“John why would you-“

“Orthur”

“Alright fine yes”

**one strawberry touch later*

“I…I would like to try it.”

“The drink? John you can’t-“

“No no, the strawberry. I’ve never had- not in the dreamlands and not in the dark world- I’ve never tried a strawberry before.”

“Oh…John I-“

“Frankly I don’t think I ever could-“

“Well that may be because you don’t have a corporeal form…or a mouth for that matter-“

“THATS NOT THE POINT! … Orthur, I want you to let me eat it”

“John how would I-“

“You just chuck it at me?”

a little update about how far i got into malevolent and the thoughts ive had so far

spoilers for parts 1-5

here is a man, who wakes up not being able to see and he starts hearing a voice in his head. he wakes up in an office he discovers is his with his partner's dead body in the middle.

and he questions it so little. the thought of not having his own eyes and having a voice in his head and having just killed his partner normalizes so easily for him

istg the first ep i was just :o the whole time

second part so far has been the loudest. there was thunder and yelling and gunshots and it scared me. the podcast started out relatively quietly for my phone (and my headphones suck) so i had to listen to it on speaker. the room i work in is loud so it had to be pretty loud... i had my dog w me. we were both scared of the gunshots and thunder lmao

but yet again it was cool. the world design seems so cool and im eager to keep listening.

he finds a baby in the forest.

thats it. a baby. in the woods. no questions.

he finds a car by the side of the road, sees blood and track marks and FOLLOWS THEM. he finds a campsite with 2 women (one is dead) and a baby and he and john doe think "oh yeah. we have to save the baby." thats it. only baby.

and then she starts laughing. and chasing.

and just... only thoughts are baby.

the wraith things were so cool. i love ghosts and spirits and folklore about such things so the mansion ep was just super cool.

the gasmask man (im bad w names dont mind me) intrigued me. the way john would speak and the man would just scream shut up so the question "does the gas mask man hear john" rise up only for him to shut that idea down. and the comment about the mother. that callback minutes later was comedy gold istg.

im about half way into ep 5 too and the whole starting bit was creepy and cool and set up so well. the voice change from a calm helpful tone to a "TELL ME WHAT YOU KNOW ARTHUR" was 10/10

Looking back at the holiday art and fics I had a lovely time with today before harlan dropped a new episode like. We had no idea. We really had no fucking idea. It's 11:30 pm how am i supposed to sleep now.

why aren’t we giving the stone to the butcher?? that takes care of the moral dilemma surrounding scratch and, in an abstract really creepy slightly homoerotic way, turns the butcher into an ally. why is our only option oscar?? it’d be so easy too, and neither of them even mentioned it?? like. before colins went to prison, slip the stone in his pocket and he goes straight to a psychiatric ward with restraints and bullet proof glass. like?? let’s be smart here. maybe i expected too much of them.

hey i don't mind that you reposted the screenshots at all i think it's entirely fair to do so but. can you please not link the tweets to people on this site? because idk if there are assholes lurking in the fandom space who know me on both accounts or if they're from outside and just want to troll but ive gotten hate anons about it already, one of which was. Violently arophobic, which i assume comes from me mentioning being aro in a tweet. ive turned off anons and im really sorry about this whole thing but i don't want to give people easier access to my twt account than they already have if possible.

I can respect this 100%. (I want to say that anyone who's said they've seen the posts on twitter, I haven't sent the link to anyone and will continue to not, so they've found the post themselves) I just don't also like the things I've seen you said (on twitter) because they're blatantly untrue. Sure, you may have seen people say something or another about being upset that the ship isn't real or what fucking ever, but majority of the time, the criticism of Malev comes from a place of genuine critique.

Maybe I'm coming at this from a personal perspective of people talking about the wrong shit and refusing to criticize a creator they like, because this is very much a second happening of this, albeit, a different person. But VERY similar paths for both certain parts of fans (not wanting people to crit his show and saying there's something wrong with people doing this and you getting the facts wrong) going to bat for the creator (who SHOULD be listening to well informed and constructive CRITIQUES, which has been the MAJORITY of the criticism for YEARS)
