Have you ever been to the USA, if you have the chance do cuz we are a big as country and you’d definitely re-think the idea of having one central branch for the usher foundation…
I have, yeah, and I'm well aware of how big it is, but I suspect you might be doing a lot of extrapolation as to what the Usher Foundation is and how it works, since as far as I recall it's only vaguely referenced in a brief mention or two. Like, the Magnus Institute isn't a "central branch" that covers all of Europe, or even the UK - it's an academic institution based in London. So one would assume the Usher Foundation is an Academic institution based somewhere in America (I generally imagine it in the Boston area, or somewhere in that region of New England due to the Poe connection). Also, if academic institutions were like public agencies that had a responsibility to cover geographical areas or populations, I think the more egregious problem would be the Pu Songling Centre in Beijing, as China has five times the population of the USA in roughly the same geographical area.
Also, while I do a lot of research for my stories, especially international ones, and try to get a sense of the specific area I'm writing about, I'm obviously always going to be writing as a Brit and thus with certain British assumptions about how places work. And to be honest, after living my life in an anglophone culture dominated by USAmerican media and constantly seeing those, uh, "interpretations" of the UK, there's a slight feeling of turnabout is fair play.

I know he’s kind of a polarizing character, but I have to say, Elias Bouchard truly is Iconic. When you hear the twist of “the boring middle manager was actually secretly an evil eldritch monster the whole time!” you sort of assume that the boring middle manager persona was just a facade, but no, he really does seem to just enjoy dull administrative work. He’s both exactly as boring as he seems on the surface and profoundly fucked up in ways you couldn’t imagine. He’s practically omniscient and playing 4-D chess with everyone, but he responds to even slight hiccups in his elaborate scheme with acts of extreme violence. He beats an old man to death with a metal pipe and when someone brings it up later he goes, “Yeah I may have overreacted there.” His employees are constantly trying to murder him. He broke out of prison just so he could give a dramatic monologue. He had a weird gay thing going on with seemingly every man he met in the past 200 years. He loves scheduling.

First of all, NOT MY ART! I commissioned these 2 awesome pieces from the lovely @yelloartt and i wanted to show them off because they are SO, SO AMAZING!!!!! Not only is the art super tasty and pretty but the artist is so, so sweet and very easy to work with ♡
The whole experience is literally a treat and i highly recommend commissioning him if you have the funds because (⸝⸝๑ ̫ ๑⸝⸝⸝) just look at the art. Just look at it. Its phenomenal.
I got the designs ordered as a doubled sided charm and some stickers but itll prolly be a bit before those arrive, but ill definitely be showing those off too when they get to me!!
Closeups (and the second portrait since its minor spoilers) under the cut uwu

"The Magnus Archives has some pretty good casual queer representation. It's not that big a deal, just some side characters and references."
I lied. They're all queer. They are all either cannon, implied, or have the queerest character design known to man. I have lured you into a false hetero security of a horror podcast only to reveal a gay horror podcast. Haha!

I love the idea of Gerry being very casually nonbinary (dressing androgynously, using multiple sets of pronouns, actually calling herself nonbinary multiple times) and then having the sudden realization he’s nonbinary after an extended length of time and everyone around them being like “uhm. We thought you knew that.” And that’s just funny to me.

The thing i both love and hate about michael’s sacrifice was how simultaneously inevitable and preventable it was.
With the info gertrude had, she thought she had to sacrifice someone to save the world. She doubtless thought michael’s blind trust in her was necessary for the plan to work. From her perspective, her actions make sense and couldn’t have happened any other way.
And yet. And yet. It would have failed anyway, whether michael was there or not. Michael could have lived a long and happy life (or at least not been fed to an eldritch horror) and the world would not have ended.
His death is pointless. He died for nothing. And yet there was no path by which he could have survived without changing fundamental aspects of the timeline. Preventable, yet inevitable.
